I am always just...so delighted when someone podfics one of my stories or messes around in one of my universes, and I am so bad at sharing them. I've had some of these tabs open in my browser under the "fandom" tab group for goddamn ever. But I want to declare an amnesty for anything I might have lost/forgotten at end of year, so before that happens I want to link the ones I DO have! So here, have some podfic bounty.

It's almost time- AO3 Wrapup 2023!

Last year I did this snazzy video with all my stats and music and awesomeness. This year. . . I’m here.

Here, let’s remember 2022 briefly.

Not too shabby. AO3 doesn’t account for the hours of podfic recorded, but that was roughly 27 podfics, for a total of 489 Minutes.

And now 2023!

Significantly fewer of everything. What can I say- I’ve been busy. But as for podfic, I’ve recorded 33 pods, with 402 minutes. I fell back in adoration of David Tennant, and 2003 me and 2023 me are like that Spiderman meme, only we are both older and crankier.

so this is what, 13 years of absolute chaos? (and 60 podfics, for a total of 891 minutes which is *checks notes* 14.85 Hours of recorded podfic! WHOOO!) Here is to 13 more!

But!

For 2023, I have two large podfics to finish, one Good Omens by @phenobarbitalfiction that I'm a little obsessed with, and of course Emieo's Spice, and it's 80 bajillion words. BUT PROGRESS IS BEING MADE.

I have three fics planned out (Broadchurch, GO, and Trek) and am running a bingo challenge for the KiScon peeps, so I am hoping the mojo will sort of spring back into existence.

Summary: “Hey look, I kinda need to run something by you,” Scott starts, sounding sheepish, “You know how I said the venue only has eight rooms?”

Stiles ‘hmm’s’ absentmindedly, half-distracted by his work phone that’s pinging with emails. “Well, my Dad has decided he wants to stay the night of the wedding now, so we’ve had to make a few changes to the sleeping arrangements.”

Stiles groans, throwing his work phone across the bed. He has a feeling he knows where this is going and he knows that Scott knows he’s got him backed into a corner.

“Really, Stiles, we couldn’t figure out how to do it another way, and I know it’s not exactly the best timing in the world—”“Just come out with it, Scott.”

“We need you to share a room with Derek.”

Or, the one where Stiles tries to deny that he's emotionally constipated, there's a wedding, and no one will shut up about what happened at Scott's fucking Bachelor Party..

February finds you feeling frigid? Not to fret! K/S Spring Fever, our delightful springtime Kirk and Spock prompt fill fest will have you thoroughly warmed up in no time! The prompting phase of the fest has generated 120 glorious prompts, which now beckon to be filled.

You can view said prompts and find out more information about the event on the 2024 Collection Page on AO3. 4. K/S Bingo is also in full swing, and will be for the rest of the year!

If you are active in our KiScord Server you may already be aware, but 1lostone has put together a splendid, low-pressure K/S fannish creation event in the form of a bingo challenge!

The way it works is like this: 1. You fill out this Google form. 2. 1lostone, powerful Wrangler of the Bingo, will then generate for you a custom bingo card, and send it to you either via Direct Message on Discord or via e-mail. 3. You have until the end of the year to obtain the state known as bingo (horizontal, vertical, diagonal, blackout, Texas T – any way you like) by creating fanworks to fill the prompts upon thy bingo card. Don't forget to add your work to the AO3 collection: KiScon Bingo Challenge. 5. Curious what else is going on in online K/S fandom?

The lovely Thia has put together a handy dandy calendar of K/S and K/S adjacent fandom events, anniversaries, and deadlines for the year 2024! Derek had to get away after the events of Mexico. He almost died, and he's worried that he won't be able to control his full shift. He doesn't want to endanger his pack, so he stays away. He's not far, just a few miles down the road, but it's enough for now.

When Scott calls him, worried about a new threat and his best friend's safety, Derek decides that it's time to come back. He'll pretend that the chimeras Scott tried to tell him about are the reason, but it's images of Stiles, hurt and in danger, that flood his mind.

The Camaro speeds down the highway, and Derek can only hope that Stiles is being an idiot and fell asleep researching. Something tells him he won't get that lucky tonight.

Derek doesn’t want to call the window repair guy. He doesn’t want to sweep up the glass. He’ll inevitably miss a few shards and pull them out of the bottom of his bare feet for weeks.

He doesn’t want to try to make this place feel like home when it isn’t.

Derek stayed in Beacon Hills and tried to make it work because he wanted pack, wanted purpose. He gave his best effort and found himself back where he started: alone, with a few begrudging allies. He’s tired, and even though his werewolf body heals quickly, he feels the weary ache down to his center.

He packs his car with the few things he cares about enough to drag them from place to place. He locks the loft and calls a realtor about listing the building he’d bought in a misguided attempt to secure a future.

And then he leaves.

Beacon Hills is the same as when Derek left but the people that occupy this supernaturally diverse town aren't. This patchwork pack isn’t what it used to be. Stiles isn’t what he used to be. He’s been hollowed out and stripped clean.

If it’s the last thing he ever does Derek is going to bring some life back into Stiles’ eyes.

The final battle against Monroe goes horribly wrong. In the aftermath, the pack fractures, and for some of them things will never be the same.

Healing, like a roadtrip, isn't always a straight blast down the interstate. Sometimes it's a winding coastal highway. Life hasn't run smooth for Derek in a long time, and maybe it takes leaving to find the space to build something real.
