Rules
• There is no minimum or maximum word count requirement.
• Fics must be completed when posted to AO3. No WIPs.
• This fest is not anonymous. Feel free to post snippets or teasers. (Make sure to tag @1Ddystopianfest)
• There doesn’t need to be any pairings for this fest.
• There will be no restriction on the writing of explicit, sensitive, or potentially triggering content, though this must be tagged appropriately.
• All AUs are allowed such as A/B/O, Mpreg, girl direction, etc as long as it’s a dystopian fic!

Snippet from 1D Maze Runner AU
(that maybe one day i will finish and publish)
Warning: this is the first time i ever published anything from my writing in english.
(Don't eat me alive please.)
🍃 ✨ 🍃 ✨ 🍃
"Louis is screaming.
Harry can see him screaming; Zayn's name clear as a day on his lips, so easy to read.
He's getting closer and closer, but he's still too far away. He won't make it, he has no chance to make it on time.
Harry sees him running. He hears his screams.
Louis is terrified.
Harry had seen him scared the day before, but that was nothing like this.
He knows they are close with Zayn.
He knows no one ever survived the night in the maze. Not alone, not with a wounded partner.
He knows how it is to lose someone so important to you. He doesn't know how; he just does. He feels it deep in his bones.
He can't let Louis lose Zayn. He can't.
The decision is made before he even consciously can register it.
Just before the doors shut completely, he runs into the maze.
Niall isn't able to catch him in time. He feels the tips of his fingers graze the back of his arm. Too fast for anyone else to react, he's out of reach.
His name joins the screams of Zayn's.
He doesn't even know when he moves. One moment he looks into Louis' blue blue eyes, and then there are walls closing around him.
He scratches his hands on a harsh stone, trying to get to the other side. His leg gets stuck for a second, and his hands slip just before he gets free, trying to find leverage.
Full breath doesn't even have a chance to make its way into his lungs when it's pushed out of him when his shirt gets stuck between the walls and he gets pulled back, his head and shoulder blades hit painfully the hard stone. He's legs give out, and he hears material tearing apart before he hits the ground.
The first full breath he takes is almost painful. His blood pulses in his ears, his vision is blurry for a few seconds. He pats furiously different parts of his body to check if he made it in one piece.

He looks up from the ground, and his eyes meet Zayn's hazel ones. If there's no disgust on his face, Harry doesn't know how to describe it differently.
He flinches, his body moves back on instinct, trying to get out of the way of Zayn's anger. The hard stone wall behind him reminds him that he doesn't have anywhere to go.
He remembers, from the first time he saw Zayn, that he never wanted to get on his bad side. Now he is exactly there.
He doesn't know what that means exactly, but he's sure he won't survive here in the maze without Zayn's guidance. He doesn't know what he will do if Zayn turns on him right now.
He thought he could help, but right now he's almost sure he killed himself as well.
When Zayn finally speaks, his voice is cold and low, thick with an accent, and almost completely furious, his eyes are darker than he has ever seen them before.
Harry flinches again before sharp words full of disgust can even reach his ears.
"Congratulations. You've just killed yourself."

This was inspired from prompts from @/1ddystopianfest but missed sign ups and i definitely better work when there is not deadline hanging above my head so well... maybe there will be something from this one day. i sure hope so.
