There is simply not enough discussion about the fact that Baran bo Odar straight up posted an image of Eyk staring into Maura's eyes superimposed with "THE KEY" in Morse code.

I’ve been going crazy about this show for a month and my mind is completely taken over by either sound, crazy or half baked theories, so I’m gonna share some of the thoughts here. They are not all mine, it can be said it’s a combination of my own thoughts and the things I’ve read other people notice. So this is a long post, sorry about that, I just have to get it out of me.
**************************************************************************
- The memories Daniel is trying to make Maura remember are 100% fake, like I’m sure of it. Nothing about them seems real. All the photos are the same, they are dressed in same clothes, they all look the same. His memory takes place in a modern looking flat that definitely does not match either the photos or the landscape outside. It’s like those crazy dreams we have with dozen things put together and then they don’t make any sense.
- Daniel and Elliot aren’t real. The fake memories from the previous point are one proof, but what’s even more important is that neither of them has any motivation as own character outside of Maura. They do not exist inside the story without their entire existence being tied to Maura. They are trying to wake Maura up, save Maura, etc. But it always comes back to Maura. Every other character has their own story, but they are always tied to Maura. Elliot’s memories are the same as Daniel’s. That grey landscape looks like a dream and it’s always the same in all those memories. The only difference is that Maura’s hair is down in that scene, otherwise, it’s like they just jumped there from the Kerberos. I will focus on this point further as well.
- The traumatic memories of all the other characters might not be real, or are partially real. I believe Eyk’s family might not be real as well, and that the memory of the tragedy was probably installed there for a purpose. The only one I believe might actually be real is his eldest daughter Nina. She’s all he talks about and sometimes it’s funny how he almost never mentions anyone else. She’s the only one he hears, sees and touches. Like the only one that actually feels real.
- 2099 is another simulation. I’m sure of this. It just does not feel real. And like a lot of other people, I believe the real reality is somewhere in between 1899 and 2099. Maybe 1999. This takes me back to episode one when Maura stands in front of the mirror and says her name, date and then starts with “19...” corrects herself and says 1899.
- The body remembers! Eyk is Maura’s real husband. Yeah, my favorite delusional theory. Or not so delusional after all. The out of this world chemistry that you can cut with a sword is not the reason for this, but it’s wonderful. There is a lot of focus on the body remembering either trauma or things of other form. The way they act with each other screams that they have something going on in reality. I do not believe it’s just the repeating simulations. It’s the projection of their relationship in reality that their mind forgot but the body cannot. The way that she always reaches out to him and touches him so casually like it is a habit. It’s also interesting how he reacts to her touch, first with surprise, then disbelief, like he cannot believe she did it, like he does not deserve it, which can mean he might have fucked something up royally in reality. The way she constantly defends him in front of everyone even though his decisions are questionable at best and outright insane at worst, she does not hesitate for a second in defending him, and I don’t believe it’s just because she herself knows weird ass shit is going on on that ship. Might be a sign that she was also the one that fucked things up royally. Failed marriage storyline maybe.
- I think that Maura’s memories she has at the beginning, the miscarriage storyline, are actually what is real. Why? Well, we go back to the body remembering. There is a very huge ass focus on her not feeling anything when she looks at the “family” photos of her, Daniel and Elliot. Like it’s not just her saying she doesn’t remember, it’s her insisting she doesn’t FEEL anything when she looks at them. She says she’d know if she had a child, she would feel it, and she breaks down, in a sort of blaming herself moment, that she does not remember her child, that she does not feel anything, and it looks really genuine. Maybe it’s because her body remembers the trauma of losing a child, not having one. Because from episode one it looks like she feels the loss of a child in that way. Plus, we have her reaction to Eyk’s family photo, which is a lot more emotional than her reaction to her supposed family photo. It happens 3 times. Three times she looks at Eyk’s family photo and has an emotional reaction to it. And there is a real huge focus on that for it not to mean anything.
- Eyk’s family photo on Kerberos, the burned down house and the empty frame on the Prometheus. Someone came up with a theory that Maura’s photo Daniel has belonged in the Prometheus empty frame. I actually like the theory. Even though it can just mean it’s in the letter Eyk received, but if it’s a simulation after all, they could’ve just created a new one. So the theory can still be correct in a way, since we have Daniel essentially coming from the Prometheus. And there is a bit of focus on that empty frame, so it must mean something.
- The way things are being spoken is going to be of huge importance. I think this is one of the reasons we have so many different languages. Like, I can notice these things in English and Spanish, because I speak these languages, but fuck if I know how the French phrase their sentences. Some of the examples are: Maura and Eyk essentially have their tragedies happen at the same time, except he uses the “two years ago” and she uses “a couple of years ago”. Or Daniel saying “we got married 12 years ago”, not ‘’we’ve been married for 12 years” or anything like that. Or Maura saying ‘’my focus was....is on the human brain”, etc.
- 12 years are somehow important, or just number 12. This got me to reading about different meaning of number 12 and 12 labors of Hercules in the middle of the night. Daniel mentions it “we got married 12 yeas ago” and Franz says he’s been in Eyk’s service for 12 years.
- The connections the characters form with the people they “aren’t supposed to be with” are the projection of their real life relations. I think this has been established as truth amongst fans already. The most obvious being Eyk and Maura, Clemence and Jerome, Olek and Link Yi, but also Angel and Krester, even Tove and Franz.
- I didn’t believe a single word creepy Qyburn said and think he has a bigger part in it than just being trapped inside the simulation.
- The theory of either Daniel or Eyk being Maura’s brother is the stupidest possible theory anyone could come up with. And this is happening because of Dark. People should stop connecting it all to Dark. The creators said that they are trying to make it as different from Dark as it can be, and I believe them, What would be the point in creating two shows that are the same? Like yeah, Daniel is suspicious as hell, but no way he’s playing that sort of sick kind of mind games. Eyk, whoever thinks Eyk can be the creator is just really funny to me. My man spent the entire season lost and confused as fuck, and no, subverting expectation does not count here.
This isn’t even a third of what’s going on in my head these days, but I had to share at least some of the things I had in mind.

I don't really think I would be able to let go of 1899. So, I want to talk about attire and memories. Please let me know if I should talk about the rest of the characters, because for now it's Maura, Daniel and Eyk. Spoilers and a lot of trailing away.
Let's start with Maura. The thing that won't let me rest about her is her character in the simulation. Woman, traveling alone, educated in a man's profession, a person worth making rumours about. She gets slightly chastised by Mrs Wilson and surely insulted by the only practicing doctor on the ship. But she doesn't give and helps, volunteers to a dangerous task that a man wouldn't consider at first.
I think she was coded as an ''adventorous british lady''. In my other post I said that maybe it was a part of Eliot's world. Family of British-Welsh travelers, that exceed expectations and prove mean people wrong. I also said that I might have met Maura before. And I kinda did. I randomly remembered The Essex Serpent.
Tumblr media
Now, there isn't really a similar theme in that book. It's a great book by the way. But the main character Cora is reinventing herself after a traumatic marriage, explores percuilar circumstances, wears men's clothing and generally either makes people uncomfortable or fascinates them sometimes. She also has a rather odd son. I'm not saying that Maura was inspired by Cora or follows her path. I'm saying Maura (or Ciaran) might have picked up some tropes from the outside to mask her memories under more baggage, real or not.
Funny thing to mention: Cora's love interest is married and has a daughter. And also is a priest. At least in the book, I'm not aware of show's changes.
There is also a game called The Excavation of Hob's Barrow, where a woman is trying to look for whatever took her father. Henry is mostly harmless on a bigger scale, he is a shield of Ciaran's, just a way to move the plot into a fluid, familiar way. Probably, that's what makes Maura so lovable and intresting. She's a partly known character with a deeper pain and maybe, a secret.
So. Let's talk attire. We first see Maura in a hospital gown in her nightmare\memory. There is clearly more versions of her getting viped and they all have the same scenario before a new cycle.
Tumblr media
She probably has the most...outfits? If you can call it that. She has her main outfit: (i think that's the name) long turkish pants with pockets, which are clearly big and the material is warm, the blouse is seemingly layered on something also, so Maura won't die after going on the deck in the middle of October. It's practical. She has a coat\cloak, but it barely even matters because the worst of it Maura endures uncloaked.
Most of the time, her hair is up, but in her son's and husband's memories her hair is down. It's clean and nicely curled. She never had a need to run or do something where her hair is going to be in the way. Peaceful times.
Tumblr media
Daniel's memory bugs me. It's not that it's not real, but it seemes to show the level of their attachment and\or the way they express love. I prefer to think that ''I love you. Never forget'' is used depending on the situation by both of them. The moment is Daniel's memory seems to be when he feels Maura pulling away. Maybe that is something that always was there. Daniel loves her so much he's afraid that he's overbearing or annoying. I think his memory also shows that they fit very well togeter. In my mind, Daniel is somekind of a developer and my favorite trope wants to make him a writer. He is a different kind of smart compared to Maura. Does it make sence? I don't know. But he's loving and caring outloud. Maura's love is more quiet and goes deeper. They are both willing to overcome so much for their loved ones. Probably, everything.
What bugs me, why the gown? It doesn't look like a nighty. Maura says that she's starving, puts on a mental hospital gown and...disappears? Is that the guilt that Daniel carries? On the surface, I think he's supposed to be different from all the others, but is he running towards his guilt? He couldn't prevent his family from falling apart, he couldn't prevent Ciaran taking over, but he still can get Maura out. That's why he persevers and that's why he doesn't really care about people outside his purpose. He's there to mold the simulation to his needs.
He also looks...the most different from time to time, I think. Maybe, he didn't get in at the same time with the others or he left and came back. ''I won't leave you again''. Maybe, after that moment shown by Henry to Eliot, Daniel did leave. He had the suit on.
Tumblr media
We see Maura in that suit twice. Daniel only once and in the spaceship one bed\capsule is open. Did he leave then? And doesn't Maura's haircut in the end look like her ponytail was cut off? I only just noticed that.
Tumblr media
His hair seems to be different each time. Also, I think it's a sad thing that he wasn't made as curly as Aneurin is. Did he comeback only four months ago, interfering with Ciaran's plans? His outfit seems era appropriate, but also really warm and kind of thoughtout for a ship. Was he a part of the crew on Prometheous? Did he still his coat the same way Jerome stole his uniform?
Tumblr media
But the pictures...I first thought that he wears that short male coat with big buttons. But it certainly not the coat he wears on the ship. His hair is shorter, the same length like in his memory. Maybe it's that second layer under the main coat, but really, who knows.
Pictures are still tricky. They all there almost the same clothes. The same haircuts. So, It was one that one day Eliot comes back to? A moment to remember which was a part of a simulation. Pictures also remind me of that childhood photoalbum from Black Widow. The one where years we shot in one weekend or something.
Tumblr media
It kinda looks like there were different cameras or different film.Different way of development? Maybe, the black and white ones are pictures that Eliot tried to develop. There is also a picture that seemingly was taken by him. A picture in his little playing room. Daniel also seems...not as traumatized? I don't want to say it, but did they agree to spend that day together, in the simulation, for Eliot? Without being on the best of terms? Eliot is always in the middle, also. Make of it what you will.
Eliot deserves his own mention. He is a good little sport. He has to come to many hard realizations. He almost doesn't cry, only when Eyk and Henry scare him. He also has a memory that ends with Maura's hospital gown. Is the picnic his last memory before the first cycle?
Tumblr media
He also wears..only this. In every memory, in every appearance. Beside that one hazy moment that Henry shows him. Was Maura put in the chair as a punishment for what she did to Eliot? Could her and Daniel's suffering be at least partly revenge?
Let's talk about Eyk. He also, as far as I have noticed, wears the same clothes. He is also the only one who didn't cause the reason for his guilt directly. He probably didn't see his house burning down. Even worse, he might have goten a telegram about it or something. That's why he keeps imagining it, dreaming of it.
He wakes up into his nightmare. It's a common thing, but I think he's the only one to do that.
Tumblr media
He probably remembers the woods, the road to his house. To me, it doesn't seem like he was coming up and saw his wife droping the lamp. He also sees only Nina in the window with her. It's horrible to think that his wife was jealous of Nina. But she clearly was Eyk's favorite, as a I said so before. Even though in the family picture he is the only one in black, but he isn't the only brunette.
Tumblr media
I went to re-check it, his middle daughter isn't blonde either, but she is closer to her mother in the shot. An argument to my insanity: you can't really say that Eyk's late wife is blond. ANYWAY. I still think that Nina was the only one who stayed late with him to talk. He probably raised only her. The other two saw very little of him and that is where his guilt lies. Didn't pay enough attention, didn't ask more questions, didn't take time to see that everything is okay. He probably was a neglectful husband, at least. It gets sad with him real fast here.
He's also the only one to walk out of his memory. He opens the door, just like Tove later, and then just stays in his burned down living room. If it wasn't for Albert, who knows what Eyk would have done. Could Daniel be using him to speed things up? Is it his purpose? To be Maura's sidekick, make her consider the fact that she has a husband even less? He knows about the sea as much as possible, but connecting to people is so much harder. Their connection makes them both feels special on a base level.
Eyk for sure is special. I wanted to be edgy for a second and make a post "What if he IS Ciaran?''. I mean, they never kiss and traumatized siblings tend to stick close to each other. But I am more inclined to think that Eyk was Maura's patient. I said the same thing about Daniel, but it would be to different situations. I can very clearly imagine Eyk being anxious and weirded out in grief group counceling.
I was going through screencaps and this shot caught my eye.
Tumblr media
Maura is his confidant to the end. It's so sad that they strike as a couple that won't work out. One is neck deep in his grief, the other desperately tries to avoid it, run away. This probably means she would run away from Eyk too. A sad, sad irony.
Show's intro is very interesting also. It shows Eyk reaching out to Nina (assuming) and crumbling. Did he lead him to his demise in previous cycles? He probably did die at some point on previous ships.
If you reached this point, thank you. Let me know if you enjoyed it and if i should ramble more about 1899. I probably will, because I can. Might even take writing requests, who knows.

1899: 1x08: "The Key": Prometheus Roll Call
Beware: Season 1 spoilers! If you have not watched all eight episodes of 1899 season 1 on Netflix, get thee to your streaming device and watch! Then come back for a quick review with some visual aids for episode 8. =)
Tumblr media
This will be a review of the basic layout and head count in the closing scene of the finale. We see Maura wake up in a vertical sleep pod set into the wall of a cylindrical chamber. Her hair is shorn compared to her 1899 simulation 'do and she is dressed in a grey jumpsuit of the type that we saw her and Daniel wearing in Elliot's recovered memory.
Tumblr media
Once she steps out of her pod, she takes in her surroundings. There are 16 sarcophagi in the cylindrical chamber. They are in four groups of four against the wall, separated by sections of wall with portholes. She begins with the group that includes her own now-empty pod and examines the room from left to right, or clockwise, as viewed from the top looking down.
ROLL CALL.
Tumblr media
Block 1 (Maura's).
Virginia Wilson
Eyk Larsen
Maura Henriette Franklin Singleton (empty)
Krester
When she recognizes Eyk (sans shock of white in his beard), she is visibly surprised, even taking a few steps backward. Understandable, as the last time she saw him, his First Mate had shut him down and told her it would be "impossible" to bring him back. Still, I have to wonder if something else might be behind her reaction. In any case, she then looks down at her left hand and considers the wedding band on her ring finger for a second or three. Why at that moment? Because Eyk is her husband? Or because she must remind herself that she is married to Daniel?
When she looks back up from the ring, she turns her gaze directly on Krester, whose face is not scarred. Could it be Krester to whom she's married? Watch those seconds again, from Maura turning from the ring to Krester. It's as if she knows whose face she will see next.
Tumblr media
Block 2.
Tove
Olek
Ling Yi
Yuk Je
Tove's sarcophagus does not appear to be any different in shape compared to everyone else's, but it's possible that its design might accommodate a pregnant woman without any outward sign or difference. Difficult to say, which means that Tove *might* be pregnant, but is not obviously so.
Tumblr media
Block 3.
Iben
Anker
Angel
Ramiro
Tumblr media
Block 4.
??? (empty)
Jérome
Clémence
Lucien
2099 PROMETHEUS MATH.
Tumblr media
There do not appear to be any doors set into the wall. Once we get an exterior view, that makes sense. The chamber is one of several cylinders attached by their "floors" to a larger wide octagonal boxy base structure, ten of which are connected to one another in an oval ring revolving around the central axis of Spaceship Prometheus. There does not appear to be any inhabitable space directly above the chamber. I think this means that the only egress from the chamber, that doesn't lead to the vacuum of space, must be set into the floor, behind/in the middle of the ring of consoles and cables in the center of the room.
When we get a side view of the spacecraft, stem to stern, we see that there are two rings of ten octagonal boxes, and each of those boxes actually appears to be two conjoined blocks, and each of those blocks has eight cylindrical sleep chambers attached, four above and four below. Let's assume all the chambers have sixteen sarcophagi. If every pod holds a person, the ship carries 2 x 10 x 2 x 8 x 16 = 5120 people in hibernation.
Tumblr media
The 2099 Prometheus readout tells us there are 1423 passengers and 550 crew, giving a total of 1973 people. Yikes. That's less than half capacity. Have we seen this scenario before…?
CAP: We're carrying barely any freight. Just like the Prometheus. Our cabins aren't fully occupied either. The company travels this route w/o making any profit.
OLEK: The bunkers are half loaded. Two are almost empty.
CAP: Am I mad? I know this ship inside out. This is not supposed to be here.
CAP: This is impossible. We're on a ship. How does a whole landscape fit inside a ship? MAURA: This isn't the only one.
CAP: It's as if all of this is somehow part of the ship…
If there hasn't been a catastrophic malfunction or accident on the 2099 Prometheus before Maura wakes, this *does* sound similar to the state of the 1899 Prometheus and Kerberos, launched with many fewer passengers and much less freight and supplies than capacity. And how was all that supposedly empty space used? It housed the backstory worlds of the passengers and crew. Does a similar traumatic funhouse await Maura and company in "2099"? Is this one virtual as well? Or—wishing/reaching—could it possibly be Westworld-ly physical?
WHO'S MISSING?
Tumblr media
Everything we've seen and heard so far tells me that that empty berth must have been Ciaran's. Does Ciaran wear the face of someone we've already met in the simulation? Who of the 1899 Kerberos passengers and crew Maura interacted with is conspicuously absent in this chamber?
Daniel (Is he real? =)
First Mate Sebastian
Franz
Ada
Elliot (Is he on the passenger list of the 1899 Prometheus?)
Other travelers with whom Maura did not directly interact…
Garlic Necklace (aka Furnace Mulder)
Werewolf skeptic (aka Furnace Scully)
Mustached Adam Driver Crewman
COUPLED 2099ers?
Did the 2099 Prometheus assign paired/adjacent sarcophagi for couples and family who booked together?  The placement of the sleepers in Maura's chamber does seem to support the idea (for me, at least =).
Eyk is beside Maura. (Of course =)
Maura is beside Krester. (I mention it because of that post-ring-gazing look.)
Olek is beside Ling Yi.
Iben is beside Anker.
Angel is beside Ramiro.
Jerome is beside Clemence is beside Lucien. (Interrrresting…)
Mystery Sleeper (Ciaran?) is beside Jerome
Have to say, I'm a little disappointed that Franz was not asleep next to Tove. =)
Just wanted to get this info Out There in this post. Will save follow-up theorizing on the identity and whereabouts of the mystery sleeper for future posts, hopefully.
Wake up 🜃
Keep on keepin’ on~

Rewatched some scenes of 1899 and stumbled across the flashlight Eyk and Maura find in Daniel's memory. Obviously, flashlights weren't a thing back in 1899 and it was really unnerving for me to not know why Daniel used them earlier in the season and why they found one in his memory. Spoiler alert: I still don't know why.
But: If you look closely you can see the manufacturer on the flashlight, it's VIDOR.
Tumblr media
I did some google research and found out that this a retro flashlight from the 1970s. It is probably an angle beam flashlight, at least that's the one that looks most like it.
Tumblr media
This tumblr post already points out great similarities between the 1970s and the simulation. I want to use the flashlight as another example to further the point that 2099 is not reality and instead another (maybe lighter) level in the simulation and that reality is instead set somewhere in the 1970s.

I did a rewatch, here are a bunch of smaller things I feel like can be important in the future (cancellation? what cancellation?):
Ada’s ghost ship story. It’s about how the sea gets so angry when the passengers and crew of a ship kill a whale that it sends a storm their way and turns it into an actual ghost ship. Could be an allegory for what the passengers do to Elliot and the simulation subsequently killing them afterwards, or it could be part of an even larger narrative.
Franz has been part of Eyk’s crew for as long as Maura and Daniel have been married.
Several important characters have scarring and wounds on their faces or arms, and some of Franz’ are fresher even before we see him physically fight.
Anker literally means anchor. It’s probably just a characterisation detail for Anker but still an interesting name choice.
«Die Gedanken sin frei» is a song celebrating freedom of thought.
When Maura wakes up the first time it’s Henry’s voice telling her to do so but afterwards and for everyone else it’s Maura’s voice.
When Ramiro and Angel hook up in 1.02 the scene ends with a shot of a painting of a wolf and a sheep.
While the earth symbol is everywhere, only Ling Yi, Virginia Wilson and Clémence seem to have it on their clothes or accessories. It might be a stretch, but I also think the embroidered flower on Clémence’s collar looks like a bug.
Tove describes Iben’s religious conviction and the fact that she hears voices as creating her own world that the people around her have decided to follow. This could be a parallel to Maura creating the simulation and pulling everyone into it.
In 1.05 Maura tells Eyk that she remembers being a doctor and that her father must have changed her memory to make her a patient. This is probably her doing because of the Elliot reveal, but she also says she thinks she managed to remember the purpose of what was happening and was made to forget. Is this her projecting her deeds onto her father again, or did she actually manage to remember one time and get forced back into forgetting by someone else?
After exiting her first flashback into the shooting scene, Tove sees that she stands in front of room 2102. There’s a big visual focus on room numbers in general too.
Speaking of numbers, Maura’s room in the ship and the room in the mental hospital are both numbered 1011.
Virginia Wilson is confirmed to speak and understand English, French and Cantonese so far.
There are multiple closeups of Eyk’s family photo.
All of the photos on Daniel and Maura’s nightstand seem to be from the same day. One of the photos shows Elliot holding the bug, indicating that this day is the same as Elliot’s flashback. Also Maura and Elliot’s clothing in the photos seem similar to if not identical to their simulation outfits.
When Maura and Daniel kiss we see flashes of them together, the mental hospital, the wooden cross from the tomb, a brain and Maura walking down a corridor with a hammer.
Daniel says that if Maura doesn’t wake up, there will be nothing left to wake up for.
Elliot and Daniel’s simulation flashbacks both end with either of them holding Maura’s frock in the middle of the same faulty simulation that Henry is in.
Henry says Maura has fooled «all of us».
Ángel’s song (a version of La Tarara) mentions a finger that can’t be healed and a white dress. The finger could be Virginia and the white dress could be Maura in her hospital gown. The white dress verse claims La Tarara only wears it on Maundy Thursday, and the finger verse says no surgeon can cure it.

Someone on twitter amazingly caught something at least I've missed.
Clémence and Tove are actually in Ramiro's and Ángel's cabin. Clémence puts on one of Ángel's pants and later supposedly pulls out Ángel's letter?
The amount of questions I have. 😳

This is the hill I will die on.
Maura's body does remember Daniel.
At the end of "The Fight" episode he puts his hand on her arm and her hand comes up to meet his in a way to accept the comfort and she looks at him confused as if to say "why am i doing this?" not "wtf why are you touching me." When he drags her away from the fighting she lets him, no fighting at all. In his memory before she he kisses him(then backs away saying he's not real all upset I know)she leans into his hands on her face and then takes his hand to get out of there. When he tells her to lock herself in her cabin, she does. Maura shows us multiple times throughout the show shes not one to just do as anyone says. She uses her own brain and does stuff her own way. But she also listens to Daniel, whether she says she feels something or not, her body does remember him. She clearly finds some comfort in him. He's quite creepy looking for most of it, I'd want to give him a wide birth. Like yeah hes fit but he looks like hes been dredged up from the ocean and all pale and ill, and he won't leave her alone. I wouldn't wanna talk to him. I wouldnt want to be in his vicinity. Yet she stays.
Does this mean I'm denying what she has with Eyk? No. Anyone who watches this show for 5 minutes can see they are clearly obsessed with each other.
I think people are so obsessed with her having one true relationship that they are forgetting thats not how this works. Its not as simple as Daniel's her 100% her happy alive husband either. This whole thing is so much more complicated. Its can't be just explained away like he must be lying because look at her connection with Eyk.
One relationship does not cancel out the other. Let her have both.

1899 & DARK Main Characters Astrology (Western & Vedic) Life, Death & Rebirth BHARANI & UTTARA BHADRAPADA [Part 1]
Tumblr media
The actors who play Daniel & Maura both have Taurus Sun (Bharani [Aries] Sun), and the captain, Eyk, played by Andres Pietschmann, who also plays one of the main characters of 'Dark' has a Taurus Moon (Bharani [Aries] Moon)
Their sun/moon placements all land within 6 degrees of one another.
Bharani Nakshaktra is in 13:20-26:40 degrees Aries.
Bharani derives from the Sanskrit word "भार (load or burden)"
The ruling deity of Bharani is Yamaraja—the lord of death & the underworld, also the lord of dharma. If you've seen the shows, you know how deep the exploration into the psyche, death & karma/dharma goes.
Bharani's power is also associated with transporting the soul from one body to the next. The characters are all in pursuit of fulfilling a desire, impulsive and determined, sometimes taking things to extremes.
Tumblr media
Personal Note: I may be projecting, and I know the show is going for this as an overall vibe, but I notice that they all have this intense and somewhat dreary look, but more so in the eyes, they look like people who have seen into the depths of darkness, and not much could shock them.

Bharani is also connected to the womb, with its symbol being the female reproductive organs. Cycle of life, death and rebirth. There's a huge emphasis on this theme in both 'Dark' & '1899'
"The dark side of Bharani is a feeling of struggle and suffering. Much of this suffering may come from your own mind. Like many artists you are a deep thinker, and it sometimes feels like your mind is tormenting you."
Tumblr media
Other similarities are Aries North Node & Libra South Node (Western) with both Andres (Eyk/Stranger) & Aneurin (Daniel) having Uttara Bhadrapada Rahu, Andres having it as his Sun placement too. (the two creators of the show have theirs in reverse—see below)
The director & the actor who plans Jonas share the same NN & SN, Rahu & Ketu. (They're about ~20yrs apart in age) Uttara Phalguni Rahu, Uttara Bhadrapada Ketu
UTTARA BHADRAPADA
Symbol: Snake
Deity: Ananta—"an expansion of God in the form of a great serpent who holds the unlimited universes upon his hoods."
Planetary Ruler: Saturn
"You may wish to isolate yourself and withdraw from the world if you cannot see a favorable path forward."
Tumblr media
The main writer Jantje Friese & the actress who plays Maura both have HASTA MOON (Virgo). [Will explore in Part 2 soon]
I'll definitely go deeper with these themes and nakshaktras, explore other characters and the overall storyline in connection to its astrology, but this is just a quick observation for now!

I finished watching so here are some theories 1899 theories (beware the spoilers):
Each ship is a different simulation, but what if every ship has different survivors. None of the people who jumped were NPC, but rather just not the designated survivors of this simulation. The letters are an indicator of who will survive, but it also depends on how they so inside the simulation.
The reason why Eyk seems so focused on Nina while all of his daughters are there is because she is the only one that was real instead of a false memory like the rest of the family.
All of their “memories” are rooted in their actual memories in some way.
Sebastian is Ciaran.
I absolutely see a Dark twist coming: at least one of the characters somehow appear as their younger and older self or someone is actually their own grandparent…
All of the characters somehow know each other in reality. It is more clear on the characters who are clearly drawn to each other from the start (Clémence and Jérôme; Eyk and Maura; Ángel and Krester; Ling Yi and Olek) than the rest.
The missing person at the end (the one that is already open) is either Daniel or a complete different character.
The space ship is another simulation.

I'm just talking...
For some time I've been wondering why Maura is so fixated on the photo of Eyk's family. She stares at it several times, in his quarters and in his memory. What's her draw to it? I don't think it's something as simple as jealousy or regret. It seems to be almost magnetic to her.
And then there's this photo of Maura, which is the only one that Daniel has that looks like it was taken in the 1890s. The other photos have her dressed in the same clothes, but are clearly more modern.
It's based on absolutely nothing but vibes, but I can't shake the feeling that the significance doesn't have to do with Eyk's family photo, but with the frame it's in. And that this photo of Maura belonged in that empty frame on the captain's desk on the Prometheus. That Maura's looking for it when she sees the family photo in that frame on the Kerberos -- and maybe Eyk is, too.
(And I let my imagination run away with me here on ao3.)

I wanna talk about "The Calling"
That episode is pretty much my favorite, but there is something that's been bugging me a lot. Something I haven't really thought about much earlier, and that is the reaction certain characters have to it that differs from everyone else. Those characters are Maura, Eyk, Angel, Krester, and, believe it or not, Wilhelm (mustached German Adam Driver). So, correct me if I'm wrong:
Yes, we have all the characters that survived the calling and seemed to be unaffected, but most of them knew what was going on, and as soon as everyone started jumping off the ship, they started locking themselves up or tying up their own hands in an attempt to control themselves from doing the same. Well, everyone except Iben, who was affected like everyone else, but stopped by Anker, Tove and Franz.
We don't count Daniel, Elliot and Sebastian cause they're insiders and wouldn't be affected in any case. But that very fact makes Maura and Eyk's reactions weirder. Also, Wilhelm's partially.
Maura and Eyk don't react to it at all. Yes, they are scared of what is happening and weirded out by people jumping overboard, but the calling has zero effect on them. They don't lock or tie themselves like the others. They look for each other while it's happening. They find each other and end up in Eyk's cabin. Maura is explaining everything she's been hiding from Eyk while they just casually watch through the portholes as the bodies fall into the water. So, why aren't they at least affected like everyone else who was immune to it, but still doubted their own actions?
Wilhelm seems unaffected, too. He looks scared shitless watching people just drop, but unlike the rest of the crew, he's not hearing the tik-tok, and he is aware of everything. Until Sebastian deactivates him. There was no reason for him to turn Wilhelm off at all unless he knew he would question things and realize something others couldn't. We knew Franz was a lot more than an unimportant crew member, but Wilhelm seems to be of more importance, too.
Then we have Krester. Yes, Krester jumped off, but I think a lot of people noticed that he actually did it on purpose and was aware of what he was doing, unlike everyone else. It was like he simply gave up and used the chance to die when no one questions it. Was it cause he couldn't face everything that was going on in his life anymore? Or was it something else?
And maybe the most interesting case, Angel. He looks affected by it, just like everyone else who jumped, but he seems to be the only one who actually fights it. He hears the calling and he knows what it is, so he goes to his room, sits on the floor, covers his ears, and starts singing a children's song in order to fight the noise away. Like a child afraid of the dark. This is completely opposite of Krester, who surrenders to his weakness in spite of being able to escape it.
I don't know what all this means, but it's very interesting to try and analyze it.

But, like, what is everyone’s actual job on the project? Based on the output Maura read at the end we have 55 official crew members on the Space-Prometheus. It stands to reason, given Henry’s hyper focus on them (plus their proximity to Maura in the pod) our main cast may be in major crew positions?
So what are they?
Eyk, I’m guessing, could conceivably be ship’s captain. It would make the transition into the simulation easier and Sebastian (for all his low down sneaky…) shows him due respect most of the series. If Maura is heading the simulation, it would also put them in direct contact with each other as well.
My running bet is Clémence is the head of security. Jérome and Lucien are tied to a military background, and coupled or not, the three of them are closely associated with each other. Add to that her practicality jumping straight into pants for freer movement and it makes a weird bit of sense.
Virginia is clearly an administrator. Probably managing passenger transition/relocation on and off the ship.
The Anker family is a bit of a mystery, since we only see the parents and adult children in the pods. They could be legitimate passengers or any number of them could be misc. crew members and brought the rest of their family with them.
Olek obviously serves as a resident medic, medic’s assists, or counselor. With the exception of Maura, he’s the one character to directly aid multiple others in managing their distress. He also does so instinctively without considering the potential risks to himself first. While his technical skills maybe suppressed, that kind of compassion is really hard to fake and honestly he just kind of screams doctor after a while.
Any other suggestions?

1899: Season 1: Theory: There has never been a Kerberos before…
Beware: Season 1 spoilers! If you have not watched all eight episodes of 1899 season 1, get thee to your streaming device and watch! Then come back for some boring rambling and probably way too many occurrences of the words “sim” and “simulation”. =)
Tumblr media
FATHER: Using the Prometheus to regain access was a smart move. Nevertheless, you’ve failed. Again.
That's Father addressing Daniel, giving him credit for hacking the sim so that the previous loop's Prometheus is not archived before the beginning of the next (current) loop. I believe that the presence of two ships in the loop, a previous loop's Prometheus and the new Prometheus of the current loop (renamed), is the cause of certain 1899 simulation malfunctions we see in season 1.
Tumblr media
In order to maintain the integrity of the loop's world, the new Prometheus is renamed the Kerberos and a cover story about the Prometheus being lost at sea for four months is added to the world's recent history and the memories of key travelers. I'm unclear/undecided on whether Father has anything to do with this improvisation or if it is an adaptation automatically made by the sim's basecode. We learn that Father and his henches refer to this loop as "Project Kerberos", but there's no way to know if that is a name he has assigned to it, having designed/edited it to his satisfaction, or one generated by the simulation automatically on launch. In the rambling that follows, I will refer to the "sim" or "simulation" sometimes as being responsible for modifications made to this loop, but I am not certain if or how much such changes may have been executed by Father vs. the simulation's baseline programming algorithms/AI.
Tumblr media
Wherever Ciaran is, he is aware of the adaptation of the sim world in this loop and modifies it further by adding his mysterious envelopes of news clippings, notes, and photos to the inventories of select travelers, building on the four-months-lost Prometheus story. He even includes the exit key in the envelope for Henry/Maura. These moves indicate to me that Ciaran ultimately wants Maura to escape the sim. He just cannot make it easy for Father to keyjack her and escape instead. I believe Ciaran counts on Daniel and Elliot to unwittingly help him in this, thanks to their love for and loyalty to his seeker sister—natural or programmed. =)
Tumblr media
With all of these modifications made, the loop begins. The travelers wake from their fitful slumbers aboard the Kerberos and begin their second days at sea (their firsts are skipped, because departure and arrival are not part of the loop — for more on how the 1899 sim was designed to operate, give this a read). Everything seems to run as it normally would, or at least, what passes for normally in recent iterations of the sim. Right up to the moment when it doesn't—when in the dining hall, every passenger except Maura takes a drink of their tea at the same time (should really be kicking-in-before-your-reality-does coffee, tho, right?) and Ling Yi's right arm visibly glitches. And not only does this oddsmaker-upsetting event actually happen, but no one on board, Maura included, appears to take notice of its uncanniness. I believe this is the first sign that the simulation has been tasked with more than it can process.
Tumblr media
Almost immediately after the glitch, Krester enters and makes his plea for a doctor to help for his pregnant sister. Maura follows him down to third class to help Tove. Afterward, when Ada touches Maura's belly and asks if she has children, Maura experiences her first waking flash to a backstory—Alfred Beetle in Elliot's palm. When Krester presents his crucifix to her as a thank you, Maura experiences another flash to her backstory—Father in shadow in the hospital corridor. Then more flashes on the stairs up to the deck—the "1011" hospital room number, her wrists restrained in the chair, the empty chair itself, the memory restoring and erasing hypos, the memory eraser injection, sexytimes with Daniel, the obsidian tetrahedron in Elliot's(?) hand.
I believe that these waking flashes have not occurred in previous loops and are the glitchy result of the destabilization of the simulation. Certain of these flashes are notable for not being part of what we see of Maura's backstory in the Kerberos, which is focused on her Father forcibly removing her memories in room 1011 of his hospital after she challenges him to answer for shady activites she's uncovered.
Alfred Beetle appears in Elliot's backstory.
Sexytimes with Maura belong to Daniel's backstory.
The black tetrahedron isn't part of anyone's backstory (that we've seen). We only ever see it appear "live" in the sim, usually in Elliot's possession.
Tumblr media
How and why do these moments that are not part of Maura's programmed 1899 life appear to her mind's eye? Perhaps…
In past loops, the beetle and sexytimes were part of a backstory or backstories shared with Maura. Sim glitching is enabling such moments from past loops to bleed through.
Flashing to the POV of an NPC version of herself in someone else's backstory (Elliot's, Daniel's) is another manifestation and level of simulation bugginess.
Her mind can access Elliot and Daniel's backstories because she helped create them. (More on this in a post to come.)
The black tet, a device that allows its wielder to affect the sim, could logically only be part of a memory of a previous loop. Sim glitching is enabling such memories from past loops to bleed through.
Once Maura is on deck, the good captain finds her and inquires about her whereabouts. They exchange some words about the rules regarding the separation of first and third classes and who they benefit. Classic hot and heavy banter. Alas, their dance is interrupted when the First Mate and not-Adam Driver arrive with a transcript of a repeating message they've received for the last 20 minutes—the coordinates of the Prometheus.
Tumblr media
When the captain chooses to change course and tow the Prometheus back to Europe, the simulation is strained even further as the ships enter never before traveled virtual waters. In an attempt to nudge its subjects back on scripted track, the simulation intervenes by generating unnavigable fog, forcing the ships to stop, as well as giving its procedural sea and sky renderers and bird bots a break.
Tumblr media
As this Kerberos loop progresses, more travelers experience waking backstory flashes, and not just images, but fully immersive visits. They find themselves transported into their backstory worlds to relive their painful memories in pieces. These are different from their scheduled nighttime "dream" visits—in which they play their parts in their backstory cutscenes exactly as they (are meant to) remember them—because they are awake and aware of the strangeness of the events unfolding around them even as they question and resist them. I believe these are all unintended glitches in the loop simulation, caused by the sim computers having been pushed beyond their capabilities in order to maintain a Prometheus and a Kerberos, over 1600 travelers, and decisions and consequences never made in any previous loop.
Yeah, so…that. =)
Wake up 🜃
Keep on keepin' on~

I think it's interesting that Eyk finds his daughter's hairband on the Prometheus. And then it's the beetle that leads him out of his memory, making him discover that tiled shaft under his bed.
Iirc the other characters kind of morph in and out of their memory spaces in more ominous ways and without finding the official way in and out.
And then it hit me. Maybe Daniel made this happen. The ribbon on the Prometheus is only a bit of code he could write and he left it there for Eyk to find. And he sent the beetle to show Eyk the way out of his memory. (I think this theory is supported by Daniel showing up right after Eyk goes crazy on the boy after climbing out of his memory.)
Now I just need to know why!!! Does Daniel need Eyk to have an inkling of the simulation (or at least something beyond the ship being there) because, unlike Daniel, Eyk can just go to Maura and ask her for help? Is this Daniel's way to get into Maura's head to make it more likely for her to wake up? (Does this mean Eyk and Maura had something going on in the real world and Daniel knows about that? Or does it mean Daniel has watched Eyk and Maura grow closer and closer through each loop, and now he has to accept that Maura will trust this man more than him??)
