Introvert: a person whose personality is characterized by introversion : a typically reserved or quiet person who tends to be introspective and enjoys spending time alone. Note: Introverts are typically more comfortable interacting with small groups of people rather than large groups (as at parties).
The ball my father was throwing in my honor was in two days, and the house was already a flurry of
activity. Such money being thrown away on things we’d never dreamed of having again, even for a
moment. I would have begged him not to host it, but Elain had taken charge of planning and finding
me a last-minute dress, and … it would only be for an evening. An evening of enduring the people
who had shunned us and let us starve for years.
The ball was a blur of waltzing and preening, of bejeweled aristos, of wine and toasts in my honor. I
lingered at Nesta’s side, because she seemed to do a good job of scaring off the too-curious suitors
who wanted to know more about my fortune. But I tried to smile, if only for Elain, who flitted about
the room, personally greeting each guest and dancing with all their important sons.
“My sister Elain can convince anyone to do anything with a few smiles.”
She had come alive here, and her joy was infectious.
InTrOvErT.
And seated in a small chair before the sunniest of the windows, her back to us, was Elain.
Where Nesta had been in contented silence before we found her, Elain’s silence was … hollow.
Empty.
Her hair was down—not even braided. I couldn’t remember the last time I’d seen it unbound. She
wore a moon-white silk dressing robe.
She did not look, or speak, or even flinch as we entered.
Her too-thin arms rested on her chair. That iron engagement ring still encircled her finger.
Her skin was so pale it looked like fresh snow in the harsh light.
I realized then that the color of death, of sorrow, was white.
The lack of color. Of vibrancy.
The introverted version of her? That's from trauma. The lack of color and vibrancy. At her best, she is an extrovert through and through. Just like Lucien. We start seeing her be a little more assertive in ACOSF and she has two friends in Nuala and Cerridwen but that's not her becoming a part of the IC; that's her making the most of the circumstances she's in. She's not comfortable in the Night Court; otherwise, she would be engaging in parties, and making a lot more friends.
How does this post have over 1000 likes? It's not even ACCURATE.

The Rob Zombie Halloween movies are not exactly good, but they have this little chestnut of an idea that's intriguing.
The original two Halloween movies hinge on the core premise that Michael Meyers is a kind of empty vessel which embodies evil. You have to buy into the idea a little, because if you don't, not only do the movies not work as well, but also the character of Dr. Loomis comes of as an unhinged, abusive monster of a doctor. Which feels like something Rob Zombie intentionally wanted his version to consider. Ultimately the movies are not successful, likely in some measure through studio interference, but this explains a good deal of decisions which put Zombie's Halloween at loggerheads with the original movies and the fandom.
The thing about Rob Zombie is that his fans are his worst critics, in that they don't want him to make anything except a carbon copy of House of 1000 Corpses or Devil's Rejects, and when he tries to do more interesting (and in the case of Lords of Salem, significantly better) movies, they piss all over themselves in outrage. When you combine his unusual take on Halloween with a stylistic departure as well, the movies has no chance.
The funny thing is, in retrospect, Zombie's changes are actually the better choice compared to the slavishly accurate recent Halloweens, or any of the sequels following Halloween 2. He gave Michael Meyers a voice, and a more complex history, and a human connection, and all these details which fans mostly hated, but which repositioned Michael from hollow monster to a person who was deeply failed by the world. And the thing of it is, there's nothing left to explore after Halloween 2, which means the only place to go if you want to be interesting about the character is a radically different direction.
That's what Rob Zombie did, his version wasn't supposed to be scary as a remorseless killing machine, but scary as someone who was formed into a terrible creature by the world deciding for him that he is a monster. You can see this most of all with how Malcolm McDowell portrays his version of Loomis as self centered, malicious, and incompetent by varying degrees. It's stating as loudly as possible to the audience hey, this person is terrible at helping people, he is awful and his characterization of Michael Meyers as "evil" is self serving and horrible. It's meant to make the audience step back and realize, no matter how terrible the things Michael does, he's a child and locking him up for his entire life is a fucked up thing to do.
Now, ultimately the films are a mess, and this little idea doesn't really hold together or develop. I believe it's intentional still, but winds up being incompatible with what, I assume through studio pressure, is a movie too close to the original Halloween to make room for a different approach. I couldn't necessarily recommend watching them, but as failures they're still interesting.

Since season 3 of The Witcher Netflix comes out tomorrow...here are some of my concerns on adaptation from this season onward. Potential spoilers for the future seasons and definite spoilers for the books. Long post ahead.
The Hansa's Dynamic
I am so worried about how the Hansa is going to be handled in the show. Like shaking in my boots terrified. The showrunners already really messed up Dandelion & Geralt's dynamic...and that's one of the easier dynamics present in the Hansa imo. The dynamic is already going to be screwy because Cahir is a middle aged man and not a petulant teenager if he's present in the Hansa at all (though I think he will be since Emhyr called him and Fringilla out at the end of s2).
Emhyr as a Character
Speaking of Emhyr...I think they might attempt to give him a redemption arc, and I cannot emphasize how bad of an idea that is. They're going to retcon the whole "wanting to impregnate Ciri" bit, which I have mixed feelings on. Like yes, on one hand that's fucking gross but on the other hand, that bit is in there to show how fucked up Emhyr is and why Geralt needs to get to Ciri so quickly; it adds a sense of urgency to the Hansa's travels. If I see Emhyr sympathizers on my dash after this season I will lose my fucking mind.
Milva's Pregnancy & Related Scenes
I suspect that Milva's pregnancy is going to be cut entirely or play up the rest of the Hansa's concern for her as a weird "men think they can control women's bodies" thing which Milva will have to fight with them about so the show can be appropriately pro-choice without exploring any of the pro-choice nuance the books bring up. I can just see Regis talking to the guys about it being turned into a "the father deserves a say in a woman's choice to abort" scenario instead of the "I will give this woman her abortion regardless of what you all think about that (and I've made that VERY clear) but I think she's making this choice because she believes you all will abandon her/not support her if she wants to keep this baby and someone needs to make sure that she knows that won't happen" scenario that it actually is. This is also plays into my concerns about the Hansa's dynamic as changing that scene changes it irreparably.
Characterizing Nilfgaard as a Nation
Right now I feel like the show could go one of two ways 1) Nilfgaard is wrong in everything it does or 2) Nilfgaard is right in everything it does (if Emhyr gets a redemption arc). The show has already made a show of the Northern Realms' racism, which is book accurate mind you, but I fear this will translate to a sort of "Nilfgaard is the better nation as its less racist" scenario. While Nilfgaard is better in that aspect and a few others, it is still a militant slave nation. Nilfgaard and the Northern Realms both have their evils and their virtues; that's a big point in the books and the games. Neither nation is 100% good or 100% bad - they're just nations. I don't think the show will be able to handle that kind of nuance.
Jaskier & Radovid...
Apparently, Radovid is supposed to be one of Jask's love interests this season. Radovid is a massive racist, a war criminal, and a teenager. I'm sure all of that's going to be retconned but for fuck's sake just make a new character if you're going to age up and completely change the personality and insanity of an existing one. Important note: I am 1000% in support of queer Jask. I have never shipped that man with a woman in my life (even in the books and games) but for the love of God why did his LI have to be fucking RADOVID??
Mistle & the Rats
If they make Ciri and Mistle a love story, I am going to be disappointed but not surprised. Let me be clear: Mistle is a rapist and an abuser. I suspect they will change that to shoehorn in a queer relationship (even though Triss and Philippa are RIGHT THERE if they want a semi-canon wlw couple). The Rats as a whole are definitely going to be made into more robinhood-like characters because God forbid a main character like Ciri is morally grey or does questionable/bad things.
Geralt's Disability
If this season ends with the Vilgefortz and Geralt fight, as I suspect it might, Geralt will be disabled permanently by the end of this season. The dryads do not fix it. Magic does not fix it. Geralt becomes disabled and stays disabled. His disability becomes a hindrance during the books and the reader actively sees him grapple with the fallout of this. I do not trust this show to handle that - especially with how much more closed off Geralt is in the show compared to the books. If I had to guess, Geralt's disability will be handwaved away or mentioned in passing and never actually shown to impact him which is not cool.

tell me why was I so sure that nothing happens was super well known? I was shocked to find out that the last chapter has less than 1000 hits! which is so so amazing btw but imo deserves way way more! I love everything about nothing happens and I absolutely love your characterization of james! that's how I see him, I can't see how anyone can be so jealous and possessive and not be a bit toxic. too much love can be suffocating and that's the only way he knows how to do it. you are PERFECT. can't wait for the next update. also kinda excited for nothing happens jegulus smut because I feel it will be soooo intense.
oh this is very sweet nonnie🥺 to be fair i was convinced that only my friends were gonna read it, bc a lot of ppl aren't comfy with cheating and it doesn't have a . popular or common depiction of jeggy . so the amount of ppl that have read it and left a comment or sent me an ask on here to tell me how much they're enjoying the story so far is mindblowing to me <33
you complimenting my characterization of james specifically is EVERYTHING he's an asshole and has some serious issues but . well . that's how i see him and the kind of person he is in nothing happens !! biblically accurate james potter to me !! and i'm so glad u like this portrayal of him <3 i thought most ppl were gonna end up hating him (and i mean, there's still time lmao)
but yes YES you get it!!! extremes are never good, and we always talk about james' incredible capacity for love which, ofc, can be beautiful but it can also become dangerous very easily. i wanted to explore that!! i'm also excited for the next update, part 4 is gonna be soooo fun

Redoing my comms post!
Hi! I'm Tenko/Cat and I offer writing commissions! I charge a US dollar for 500 words.
Here are some examples of my usual writing that you should check out! 1, 2, 3, 4! Here's my Ko-fi, where I accept payment.
If you want a fic that's longer than 5k, I would like half of the money upfront, to make sure I don't get scammed.
If you purchase a fic under 5k, I can write it in 1-2 weeks max. Over 5k, and it will take a lot longer. (precise estimates are hard due to my schedule varying.)
The wordcount you pay for is a minimum. If you commission me for 1000 words, and I write 1200, then you don't need to worry about paying extra. I won't write 900 though, since that'd be shortcharging you.
Since I usually write dark stuff, commissions can be anonymous if you'd prefer!
My fandom list: Danganronpa, Homestuck, Ace Attorney, One Piece, South Park, The Owl House, Warrior Cats, Wings of Fire, Total Drama, Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist, BNHA, Harry Potter (obligatory fuck JKR), Steven Universe, SPOP and ATLA!

Hey, I just found out about dreamswap/fatalflaws, I was wondering if there's somewhere I can get the full story? I scrolled to the bottom of the dreamswap tag, but it seems that it doesn't have everything in it (like when you showed drawings in your notebook and mentioned having introduced blue but no introduction of him had appeared beforehand)
unfortunately, there is no full story. dreamswap was originally an au that I occasionally added lore to for fun, but never really made a fleshed out front-to-back story for. everything that exists in the dreamswap tag should be all there is of the lore. if it seems like there are posts missing, they may be located in the #dsarchive tag, but they were moved there because they contained info or characterizations that weren't canon anymore. blue for example went through a lot of changes as a character and his old version was pretty straightforwardly evil, whereas his modern self is more goofy.
as for the current fatal flaws version of the story, I don't think there's much of anything online that elaborates on it aside from the character concept art I posted last year.
edit: oh–you could also check the #dsasks tag, but there's like 1000 posts in it and I can't confirm that everything you find there will be accurate.

The Blind Bandit Re-Watch
TOPH!!! This episode is so much fun. I just love an iconic character introduction, & Toph absolutely gets that. I'm also just a huge fan of the "tiny delicate-looking girl takes out big muscular men easily" trope so of course I always have a blast with this episode.
I've consistently said that earth-benders are terrifying & this episode leans into that. I loved the Earth Rumble fights, & the brief attempt Aang made to hang with the earth-bending kids at the earth-bending academy. Side note - are bending academies a common thing in the Avatar world? It seems like they are for earth bending, & probably for fire-bending too? Do the kids learn regular skills like math & language there too or just bending? Just something I was pondering with the world-building.
Katara scaring the crap out of the bully kids is hilarious, & I love the juxtaposition from *hair flip & smirk* "a girl has her ways" to *the boys trapped in ice.* That's just iconic to me. Also, I liked Sokka sliding out after Katara & saying "water tribe" in a mocking voice. So funny.
My biggest criticism of this episode is that while a lot of Sokka's comedy (obsessing over shopping & his new bag, getting too into the earth rumble) was funny by itself, it was leaned into in a way that prioritized comedy over accurate characterization. I just didn't like that Sokka didn't appear to care about finding Aang an earth-bending teacher, & didn't care when Aang & Toph were kidnapped. That doesn't feel true to the character. This critique was pointed out to me already & so I probably noticed it more haha - it's not like I was super mad about it, but it's something I noticed. Like I said, I overall enjoyed Sokka's antics, especially when it came to shopping.
I loved the dinner scene & Toph messing with Aang while acting totally innocent was hilarious. I also like that afterward, she apologizes, calls a truce, & explains a little more about herself. Something that I struggle with & don't always think I get right when writing Toph in fics is balancing her brashness with her emotional intelligence - which she does have. She didn't have to apologize & explain, but she did.
Another scene transition that I really loved in this episode was "Toph is probably terrified" *cut to Toph mocking her kidnappers.* Toph kicking the entire Earth Rumble's collective asses was iconic.
It's left a bit ambiguous whether the Gaang knows that Toph was lying about her father "having a change of heart" & I totally forget if they actually knew or not. So, I'm excited to see that play out. Sometimes having the memory of a goldfish is fun, like when you're re-watching a favorite show for the 500th time!
Speaking of bad memory, I forgot that I was doing a points thingy for Iconic Behavior™. Oh well, no one really earned any in 'Avatar Day' anyway. The points will be added for each season & for the show overall at the end of my re-watch.
Toph gets 500 for her introduction, another 500 for kicking ass in the fight at the end, & another 1 for her trickster behavior so that she could run away with the Gaang. Katara gets 500 for scaring those bullies.

Fandom Gift Exchange Etiquette
This is going to be a quick, friendly post to explain some Gift Exchange etiquette for those that may be new to the game. I will refer to “writing” but fanart is often included in gift exchanges.
What is a gift exchange?
A gift exchange is a challenge / event, usually (for the sake of this guide) run on Archive of Our Own. There will be a specific theme, structure, or fandom (ex. Yuletide for fandoms with fewer than 1000 fics on the archive, or The Original Works Opportunity for original work). People make offers for what they are willing to write and requests for what they want tor receive. People are assigned to write for someone else’s request based on what they offered.
What are the expectations when writing/creating?
Every exchange has different rules. These rules will be found on the Ao3 collection and/or the associated Dreamwidth or Tumblr account. Read through them.
You will find
- Word count minimums
- What you are required to write for a request
- Format limitation (ex. Is this for fic, fanart, fanvids, bookbinding, etc? Does fanart include or exclude photo manipulations?)
- Deadlines
- Instructions for treating and pinch hitting
You are expected to read and understand the rules upon sign up. You can always ask clarifying questions, and mods are generally happy to answer them.
You must respect your recipient’s Do Not Wants, but you don’t have to follow their prompts in the optional details. If they have a “Dear Author” letter, you are welcome to but technically Not Required to read it.
Additionally, defaulting is ok! (Defaulting is having to drop out of an exchange after sign ups have closed. You will usually still receive a gift if you were not out for a pinch hit, but your assignment will go out for a pinch hit to be written by someone else.) This being said, if you know you need to default, DO IT EARLY. Give as much time as possible for a pinch hitter to write for this assignment to prevent adding stress to the moderators, pinch hitter, and potentially delay the reveal of the exchange. Try not to make a habit of defaulting, but do not feel guilty if that is what you have to do.
What are the expectations for receiving your gift work?
Ah the inspiration for making this guide.
Upon receiving a gift work in an exchange, you must leave a comment. Regardless of whether it turns out to be the best work you have ever read, regardless or whether it is right at the word minimum or is ten times the length, regardless of whether you believe the characterization is accurate, you must leave a nice comment for your author.
Comments on gift works are often (though not required) longer and more detailed, expanding on details you enjoyed from the work.
A big part of an exchange is the opportunity for engagement. Especially in small fandoms and original work, participating in exchanges is really nice to guarantee at least one comment on a work that would otherwise get very few hits and few if any comments.

And yes, exactly! Because I have to flesh out more of Daniel's personality in fic to match all that we're given on Lestat & Co in canon, I do think that I tend to make them similar in a lot of ways. They're both fun-loving, sweet, inquisitive, and impulsive with all of their own issues but between the two of them, Daniel is the adult in the room. (And he is Armand's emotional support human in canon so it tracks 1000% I'm very confident about this).
I love him, but Lestat's not the emotional support boyfriend in any universe except maybe Hospital AU (and I'm playing incredibly fast and loose with accurate characterization there RIP).
