Lena Oxton is a woman of petite height, made seemingly smaller in the welted, crumpled blankets of a medbay bed. Someone had set her off spiralling in a verbal malady, eyes locked to a frenzy towards something unseen in ad infinitum. Sacrifices have always been a staple necessity in the route to Discovery, iterations of failure coagulating the building blocks to success. For all that Oxton has been borne to witness, to discover, it is a shame that she has been cursed the same fate as Apollo's Cassandra, tongue vexed in a frenetic mania and mind scorned to bouts of salt. It is bizarre to think that this is an experiment that has been forbidden to be recreated. The Russians sends a Dog hurtling into orbit; The Americans respond by launching a human being onto the barren dust of the moon.

When, she thinks dully, Did humanity become so timid?

The plastic shell of a pen clacks against a clipboard. Moira drags a nail down a stack of emptied checkboxes, the scrawl of a doctor's chicken-scratching entailing mental statuses by the hour in ball point blues. Her gaze flicks up.

The glaze of a sedative is clearing from the pilot's system, clouded eyes teetering away from non-response towards a slow bleed of cognizance. Moira slots the paperwork back into the footboard. Her shoes click as she sidles broadside to the bed, palm loosely cradling a wrist behind her back. She busies herself by replacing the hanging IV bag, eyes the disfigured masses of color stretched within down the slope of her nose.

If you don’t mind sharing, I'd love to hear some fun facts about Videre & headcanons about her and Genji's relationship :)

uhhhh let's see what I have in my google doc of nonsense...

idiots. they both have known each other since Blackwatch and it took them until post-recall to actually officially pursue a relationship beyond besties-that-might-also-be-into-each-other, all because they respectively did not feel Good Enough for the other.

they take turns maintaining their respective cybernetics that they cannot reach on their own. it's very calming for both of them.

jumping from that, there were a few times early on when Videre thought she had genuinely broken a piece of Genji when it was just a detachable piece, he hammed it up to make it seem more serious than it was. In the moment it was terrifying for her, imagining all the repercussions of breaking him, but in hindsight it's hilarious.

Genji is a huge tease and Videre often mock-strikes at him when he gets too bold. You can tell she's not actually mad because of her own laughing or other such amused body language. She's pretty reserved normally so seeing such a reaction out of her is enough incentive for Genji to do it.

air jail is something Genji has to deal with when he gets too out-of-hand. That, or if Videre is fed up she'll literally walk up the wall and sit on the ceiling where she can't be reached. Gravity manipulation has its perks.

speaking of teasing, Videre and Genji have an asexual relationship, as Videre is asexual - not a problem for Genji as in my headcanon he doesn't have the parts or libido anymore after becoming a cyborg. Some of the teasing involves "bedroom" comments that to others might seem to have lewd connotations, but they are quite literally just about sleeping in or cuddling in bed.

they aren't big on PDA, but the way they both are so comfortable being in such close proximity in public and engaging in casual contact (brushing past each other with a hand on the other's shoulder/waist/etc, leaning against the other, etc.) that it's clear to others how close they are without the need for overt affectionate displays.

Videre likes to cook and experiment with recipes a lot. Genji is always eager to "help", though to Videre he isn't much help as he has trouble offering any real critique and is notorious for sneaking bites before anything's actually done.

between Genji being a parkour expert and Videre being able to fly/manipulate gravity, the two of them have the ability to get into locations that would be impossible for anyone else to get to. They have a lot of "just them" places they can go hang out if they need to get away.

Videre actually met Genji's spirit dragon before she knew that it was his. She nicknamed him "Wasabi", after the green color, and since then the dragon has been partial to being called that. Wasabi will check in on her independently of Genji at times, such as when one of them is away on a mission. It's unclear how exactly he manages to go such distances.

I have more but uhhh I'm shy and they're very specific to my interests. :V

I haven't really thought much about Overwatch for a hot minute (hyperfixations do be like that 😔), but RE: that other anon, how exactly is Yeehan toxic? Like, they barely interact in the game and most likely don't even know about each other in canon- how can you come to that conclusion? Even if it's not exactly my favourite ship for either of them, I don't see how one could say it's unhealthy or Problematic™ unless you like. specifically write them out to be an unhealthy couple

I wouldn’t blame prev anon’s interpretation bc I did make a post saying that Spuriken is a healthier ship a while back. So I’m sure that’s why they’re framing it like that. But to be fair to myself, it was a few years ago so I have matured with my thoughts. So, I am redacting my previous statement.

Just cause a ship could be a healthy relationship, doesn’t make it inherently better than any other ship. Shipping unhealthy or toxic ships doesn’t inherently make you a bad person [throws confetti in the air]

I mostly find it ironic out of all the things I’ve said this is the thing they’ve been holding onto. (Back then I even referred to myself as a garbage man for preferring Yeehan, so it was a v unserious post to me) I’m sure I’ve said more contradicting things bc that is simply the nature of being human on the internet!! We grow and change and that’s okay.

As for why I thought Yeehan was not as healthy in the first place, I was mostly going off the fact that Hanzo’s voicelines are very harsh and antagonistic towards most ppl. The voicelines they do have together, he can be very standoffish towards Cole. At Hanzo’s core, he is simply just an asshole LMAO. So I’m sure any relationship Hanzo possibly could get in too, “realistically” there would be a lot of of baggage that needs to be waded through. And the same with Cole, that drinking problem stems from somewhere. He’s got shit to work on too. Add them together, and it could be an extremely volatile mix. They could make each other worse.

Or not. And that’s where the fun potential lies. At least for me it is. You can also skip all that and simply have them have fun silly shenanigans together.

While Genji has already gone through a healing journey and is pretty mellowed out. So I’m sure, he would be better at the whole relationship thing haha. But that changes whether if we’re in Blackwatch era. Whatever he and Cole could possibly have had during this time, I would def not call it healthy LMAO. But again, that’s just me.

Anyways, this was fun. I honestly don’t mind discourse, as long as we all have level heads about it! 🫱🏾‍🫲🏽

[ HC V: OVERWATCH ] A small timeline I made for the Overwatch verse. I spend a long time with a calculator and ow2 wiki.

› 2048 ( AGE: 0 ) MERCY IS BORN › 2063 ( AGE: 15 ) MERCY FATHER DIES

Arthur Graham dies while on a mission led by Jack Morrison. At her father's funeral, she was approached by Gerard Lacroix a friend of her father. He made a proposition to Mercy to help her in the future under a few conditions.

› 2065 ( AGE: 17 ) MERCY JOINS BLACKWATCH

After a rocky year, Mercy accepted Lacroix's proposition and joined the organization under his conditions. The beginnings were hard when everyone talked about her Father, after the mourning period passed she started to focus on her future. She had mixed opinions about the whole organization but they paid well and she had nothing to complain about.

› 2070 ( AGE: 22 ) OVERWATCH DISBAND, MERCY STARTS HER CAREER AS A MERCENARY

When the Overwatch was disbanded Mercy went underground. After the destruction of Overwatch Headquarters, Athena lost all traces of her. Mercy resurfaced several months later as a mercenary. Mercy started a life fueled by profit rather than ideology. Her services become available to anyone willing to meet her price.

› 2073 ( AGE: 25 ) FIRST MEETING WITH TALON OPERATIVE, MERCY STARTS WORKING FOR THE ORGANIZATION

After becoming a mercenary Mercy was approached by a Talon operative with a job proposition. He wanted to return the favoured from a few years back when Mercy let him loose after Blackwatch attacked his group. Seeing her old colleagues in the Talon headquarters didn't surprise her that much. Still, she didn't want to plead her full loyalty to them she was there just for money.

› 2076 ( AGE: 28 ) CURRENT EVENTS OF THE GAME

Mercy can be found travelling the world for various jobs. After hearing the news about her old colleague saving Paris from the Null Sector, she starts to observe their next moves.

Then when the shitstorm at Blizzard happened two years ago with lady coworkers were pissed being treated like objects, left OverWatch fans with a sour note with everyone, which needed the name change.

I like collecting Cole Cassidy stuff and hoping to be a proud owner of a poncho. I have collected mostly Cassidy stuff. Today I discuss why both are possibilities with this character so far.

Cole is gay.

-In the comic, New Blood, he had encounter Baptiste and aids him to join OverWatch. Most fangirls might say, this is proof Cole prefers the company of men.

-The reason he could be considered gay is because they want to get rid of his previous name and not letting himself being related to said employee that was being a predator onto women.

-There is way too much CassidyXHanzoXGenji fan art of this to not be a coincidence.

-Flirting with Lifeweaver over bounties on their head? Yeah, that happened.

-He’s a big brother towards two canonical lesbians (Tracer and Pharah). Come on Blizzard, let us fangirls squeal for a BGA (Big Gay Ally.)

Cole is not gay.

-Short animated movie Reunion had Cassidy up against his mentor, Ashe. They have a love/hate bond. I’m hoping the Dreadlock Rebels book shows more to this relationship.

-Reading fics by @nori-writes makes me think he’s a proper Southern gentleman. Flirtatious and respectful. Loves common hospitality and respects women.

I don’t know much, this is over observations. I want to play as Cole but my aiming sucks. I am tempted to get his BlackWatch skin. I want to try playing him in AI matches. Plus I has the Van Helsing skin.

ayyy hi again!! 💖💞 so there's a lot going on with this situation, hence why i didn't state it all on the art post. but since you asked, here it is!!!

warning for long wall of text, so i'm hiding a good chunk of it under a read more ;v;

When Nova was away working with Blackwatch, Moira was tasked to assess her condition prior to doing any kind of work. However her "assessments", in reality, were her performing experiments on Nova to explore and amplify the capabilities of her cosmic make-up. After all, she's comprised entirely of an anomalous stardust, so this meant the fundamental elements of her body are pretty much different than that of a normal human.

Gonna backtrack a little bit to some OW lore stuff for context: Reyes personally recruited Moira for advise on genetics—and from what I recall correctly—he was being experimented on by Moira (knowingly, because he allowed her to) even prior to the events of Retribution it seems. So he's more or less aware of what she can do anyways.

Nova had a more indirect-ish involvement with the main BW team, at least initially, because she was supposed to be reconnaissance (aka scouting out enemy lines and delivering intel, nothing more or less) rather than an on-field agent. This meant Moira wouldn't get much out of research with Nova. Even then, Moira was also given orders by Reyes not to do any work with her because she was still heavily involved with Overwatch/Morrison's side.

Then, this all kinda changed when Reyes started roping Nova into joining field missions. Reyes finally gave Moira the green light to work with Nova, but again, strictly for evaluation purposes and not for experimentation. (But would she ever listen to that? I think you know the answer.)

Now that Nova started becoming more involved directly with the team on these few occassions, she began to arrange meetings with Nova in her laboratory to do some work with her. Of course, that was granted she didn't divulge this information to both Overwatch or Reyes himself, even. Nova's Blackwatch arc was a time where she felt vulnerable, and fearing an array of possible consequences that were in her head, she relented and gave into silence about Moira's doings.

She spent the next several instances partaking in missions, exhibiting strength far beyond what she was showing back with Overwatch. No one blinked an eye—although those like Cassidy and Genji, the two whom Nova was more friendly with, slowly began suspecting something was amiss. While everything went well at first, Nova later began showing grave side-effects, such as being unusually fatigued or losing control to the point where she wouldn't be able to move her own body. During one mission, she was close to instilling a drastic amount of environmental damage if Genji hadn't taken the risk to intervene.

Her unusual condition would carry onto her way back to Overwatch's base, concerning her teammates there. Morrison was bewildered at how Nova's condition worsened if she was only supposed to be recon, and by the final stretch of her term with them, she finally admitted that she had taken up field work outside of her scope as recon.

But what she also failed to mention at that moment was Moira's experiments on her. Nova was effectively removed from BW prior to the events of Retribution, and had to spend a period of time recovering before working with OW again. Soon, the potential exposure of Blackwatch finally revealed what the genetecist had done to the young agent, and Nova had to live with the guilt of keeping her silence for a long time.

He is spritzed in blood and the residual smatter of gunpowder. Jackson Pollock painted organically, but he did not paint with these types of mediums. Human canvas and paint their base components dismantled. It's a novel point of query, one she tucks aside for further musings later.

There are more clinical ways to dispatch an enemy that doesn't require so much brain matter splattered on the walls, but admittedly there is also a certain charm to the way crimson can tastefully add to a portrait.

She smiles thinly, reptilian, lips compressed taut, "Quite a mess as always, McCree."

SILVERTONGUE Informant / Adventurer

A former intelligence agent and ‘poster boy’ for Overwatch, Jackson O'Daly was known as one of the members of the group that attempted to bring the peacekeeping force back into the public’s good graces before it disbanded. It worked for a while until he refused to take scripted answers his superiors gave him, which resulted with him being framed. An anonymous third party vouched in his defense and succeeded. However, the masses now had second thoughts about his credibility.

After Overwatch disbanded he set out on his own, going dark for half a year before he returned as a self-employed informant. Known as Silvertongue by numerous associates, his experience in espionage, knowledge in tactics and combat medicine, and an eagle-eye aim have kept him alive over the past five years. Having a sister who moonlighted as a mercenary looking out for him helped out too.

Accepting the recall, an opportunity to create a better Overwatch and future, he gathers as much intel on organized crimes, Talon especially, for them to take care of and joins in missions as well.

FALCON Mercenary / Drag Racer

A well-known knife combat specialist, Falcon, or Johanne Fröst to those closest to her, is one of the most infamous street racers and mercenaries in Europe and the Americas. Her heavy preference for blades stem from her having witnessed her father being shot down during her induction into Blackwatch at a young age. From then on, she vowed to avenge him by taking out his killer with her own hands.

She chose to be a part of the main division once the suspension on the covert ops division was lifted, despite being practically raised by them, because she suspected that there were Talon influences among them. Unfortunately, the older agents believed that she jumped ship for selfish reasons while her new colleagues distrusted her after Blackwatch was put under investigation. The disbandment was a blessing and a curse for her.

While Falcon could’ve continued on her own, she chose to join the newly recalled Overwatch to help take down Talon once and for all and, more importantly, to look out for her brother of an informant.

The look Genji pierces him with is nothing short of scathing, the blood-red eyes wide and enraged. There is a moment where the fingers of one hand twitch, like they might reach for a weapon, how dare you lie to me, but instead curl into tight unfeeling fists.

“Thank you,” Genji spits, colder than ever. “I’ll be sure to send your compliments to the surgeon that installed them.”McCree is closer than Genji would like him to be even though there is, objectively, plenty of space between them, and Genji finds himself shouldering past him, all but lifting his hands to shove the other aside in his desperation to put as much distance between them as possible.

The last thing Genji needs is to be lied to - or worse, to have the company of someone so foolish they might actually believe the things they say to him.
