ALRIGHT YALL
I’m here to spread patriotic propaganda, bc fuck this country if it’s not about culture and art.
AND IT IS ABOUT BOTH SO I AM WAVING WHITE AND RED FLAG.
Anyway.
There is this movie, The Peasants (Chłopi) directed by DK Welchman an Hugh Welchman. It is animated drama based on polish Nobel prize winning novel by Władysław Reymont. It tells a story about a cycle of life in polish countryside at the end of XIX century. AND I KNOW IT MAY SOUND BORING BUT—
It was animated to look as if it was painted. Many talented artist worked to make oil paintings that became key moments for animators to put together. This technique is inspired by Józef Chełmoński (polish painter) and some of his works can be seen in this movie as scenes. Below Babie Lato and Bociany.
You may be familiar with this technique of filmmaking from Loving Vincent (2017) which is a story about Vincent van Gogh’s life portrayed in his style of painting.
SO WHY AM I DOING THIS? Purely to maybe interest u all in checking out The Peasants.
I’m leaving you links to the trailer, PLEASE I BEG U CHECK IT OUT IT’S SO COOL!!!
Last thing i am leaving is spotify link to the song from soundtrack.
Thank u and have a great day bye!

War and Peace is quite possibly the least homoerotic classic I’ve ever read. I haven’t written “gayyyy” in the margins even once.

Me: I shouldn't disturb Neil Gaiman. I shouldn't send an ask unless I really have no way of getting the information otherwise. I'll check old interviews and all the articles that vaguely mention the subject. Of course it goes without saying that I'll read though the FAQ in its entirety. Only then, will I send an ask. However, I'd be very polite and praise his work, as anyone would. I'd also keep it short, because I don't want to waste his time. But I'd keep it very very respectful. I'd be sending a message to a very talented, amazing author that deals with god knows how many like me. Or I'd just stay in the dark and not send him an ask. Yeah, I'll do that.

"internet historian's alt-right anyways" "great day to have never liked james somerton" "never even heard of illuminaughtii before this lol"
that's great buddy but don't go around thinking you're immune to this. if you're not looking for plagiarism, you likely won't notice it unless its egregiously obvious. hell, you've probably consumed plagiarized content without even realizing it. even hbomb pointed out that these people disguised what they presented pretty well as long as you didn't try and dig deeper. don't come away just thinking of this as a callout piece, take this as an important lesson about vetting your sources. if googling scripts in quotes was enough to expose the original, we should all start doing that shit!!
edit: it got a little too doomer-y a little too fast so one quick addition
this is hbomb's curated playlist of queer creators, many of whom were victims of plagiarism
this is producer kat on reddit calling for any more plagiarism discoveries and for queer content creators to be uplifted
please take some time to uplift these creators and recommend any you know! if you can help uncover more of the original creators whose work was lifted that would be great too :)
UPDATE- From Hbomb's twitter: "We're in the process of cataloguing everyone James Somerton plagiarised and finding their contact information. Which is quite a task, so to help us out: If you see this and happen to be one of the people Somerton stole from, please email us at
[email protected]"

I had a new "oh, my family were the weird ones" moment recently: it seems no one else's family celebrated Frog Night (the first warm rainy night of spring) by going down to the local vernal pool after dark to help the amphibians safely across the road and listening to the spring peepers. (We'd then go back in daytime later on to observe the egg masses, of course.)
Apparently "Frog Night" as a holiday is a thing my mother invented and not a widely-accepted idea, which is a shame because I've been referring to it as if it was for the past 30 years.

guys I had this realization the other day that Redwall works really well for reading aloud, and kinda half-remembered something about the author reading to kids? So I looked it up to see if I had made a connection.
And it turns out, yes, actually, because he read aloud to kids at a school for the blind. But all the books they gave him to read were depressing. So he wrote Redwall, a story about heroism and courage and making it through struggles, and filled it with so many sensory, visual details so he could give them something better and I just-- that's so wholesome-- help
