I've only now noticed Eva Yan's scars on your drawings of her, is there any story or headcanon behind them?
keeping it real babygirl [gender neutral] the story is that this woman canonically kills herself, canonically contemplates suicide, quite explicitly mentioning the method she intents on using to you (with implications that she has, at the very least, thought about it/thought it through before), and lives with broken mirrors so she cannot (/doesn't have to) see her face like i just think She Is Mentally Unwell. like as a long-term, enduring, persistent thing, She Is Mentally Unwell and the plague is just worsening her condition, while it didn't cause it. the storey/headcanon is that she is mentally ill, openly and canonically has self-destructive tendencies, so. the scars are here because she lives with a lil something something in her mind which drives her to plenty of destructive acts in ways big and small. ywkim
#like when i jokingly and lovingly called her a ''mentally ill bisexuelle''. i wasn't joking. ykwim#man i've given eva those for a long ass while i can't even rember when i started. i give some to peter too for the same reasons#(except he doesn't succeed in killing himself. but he does try.) but like. he has long sleeves & pants when i post him on here so. elusive#suicide /#self-harm /#what's that diagram showing how the closest you are to dankovsky the more suicidal you are. as someone who's been there#i can reclaim chuckling about it#ring ring (answers)#anonymous#& even if she doesn't die in my mind [bc she doesn't in every route] well. she still has those. she lives through them; and then with them#and lives on. you know. real recovereds will get this etc you get the jist#this is equal part story and headcanon on that one but there's also this pattern that eva throws her whole body into destruction. ykwim.#the way she kills herself is fullbody; entire physical body out of a window; it's not like how she first mentions it to dankovsky#it's a complete and utter destruction [which is not destruction *to her*; because; well we see how it ends]#it's also easy to see how her constant seeking of companionship; her sudden infatuations for a stranger and her offerings of companionship#can also be read as her ''throwing her whole body'' into it [here; into something that; maybe; can ''fill a void'' left by her spiritual#emptiness. so in the spirit of ''putting her whole body'' into destruction/into trying to fill an intangible void left by emptiness and fel#well. scars and the act make sense to me at least. because there is that attempt to exteriorize an inner suffering with acts like those

Hero Academy AU (Dark SBI Edition)
I started to write an outline, but when it hit 2 pages, I decided to condense it.
Technoblade does not want to become a hero, but his Hero Parents force him to enroll in the hero academy.
He slacks off in class to try and get kicked out, but his parents talk to the headmaster and it doesn't work. No matter how much trouble he causes.
The only tolerable person at the academy is Mr. Craft, one of the teachers in charge of academics and not heroism. Which means Techno can succeed in his classes while trying to fail his hero classes.
Mr. Craft does have a power, though, and he is often asked to help in hero courses. Mr. Craft is able to temporarily draw out a person's potential, showing how their power can grow. It's not super practical in a fight because he has to be touching the person he is boosting.
Technoblade has blood manipulation powers, but he hides that and most people think he just has, like, enhanced strength or something. One of his parents is strong, so it makes sense.
Techno REFUSES to let Mr. Craft touch him.
Worry grows at the academy as more and more heros have been killed by The Angel, a villain with the ability to literally rip another person's power out of them. And while this doesn't kill someone, most wish they were dead. It's like a piece of their soul has been ripped apart.
There are rumors that The Angel can do more, but it's never confirmed.
The heros are only thankful that The Angel can't use the powers he steals. They are just gone.
The Academy won't let Techno keep avoiding training. They need HEROES and they needed them YESTERDAY. He's basically FORCED to let Mr. Craft use his ability on Techno.
The experience is...pleasant. Heady. Almost like a drug. Mr. Craft's power comes with a sense of Euphoria as Techno's powers are ratcheted higher. And Higher. And HIGHER as he suddenly can feel the heartbeats of the whole school, of the whole city, of the whole COUNTRY-
Technoblade pulls away from Mr. Craft in horror, staring at his Shocked Teacher with a silent plea for him to say nothing.
Mr. Craft just says that Techno has only slightly better than average super strength, and Technoblade relaxes. The other teachers move on, with dissappointment. Technoblade just thanks Mr. Craft profusely.
Mr. Craft assures him that he will keep his secret IF Technoblade agrees to private tutoring to help control Techno's powers. Because even if Technoblade doesn't want to be a hero, his powers will STILL grow as he ages. And if his powers are out of control, then he might hurt himself or others. Mr. Craft might not be a hero, but he can at least teach Technoblade that much.
Technoblade agrees on the condition that Mr. Craft helps him to get the heck out of The Academy.
Mr. Craft is more than happy to promise to do everything in his power to make sure that Technoblade NEVER ends up as a hero.
And The Angel is more than happy to get a powerful protegé.
This has literally been sitting in my inbox for OVER A MONTH because I didn't know what to answer except "hmmmm nice" which feels so inadequate for the treat you have given me

Okokokok I need some help understanding something and you’re a writer so I trust your judgement. I keep trying except I’m just making myself more upset. I just want to start enjoying the new story with everyone like normal
In a story, how do you take revenge against something/someone with plot amor?
I feel like the revenge>failure>anger>revenge cycle would get a bit repetitive right?
I’m just trying to think of this in term of story and character development and I’m failing to grasp how this will work in a way that’s productive
I think that the events over the past few weeks or so are meant to show that the Federation doesn't have as much plot armor as you think it does. Because it's spread so fucking thin right now between the kidnapping of Ron and the murders and the dark matter and the Mini-Mes getting taken and the eggs and the president going missing. They don't know what's going on and the workers are scared and in hiding and literally only Foolish is chill right now, and that's because he's become such a good spy that even the "higher ups" love him. He's currently in the process of doing what Cellbit spent months trying to do, and he's going to succeed.
But this isn't about the Federation, it's about Cucurucho, aka the thing Cellbit really wants to destroy even if he's telling everyone , who was apparently proven to not even be a part of the Federation at all today! Apparently, the Census Bureau isn't a Federation employee like. At All.
So this begs the question: how do you kill a God?
The answer is that... well, you don't. Not when you're Cellbit, and that's exactly the point of what he's doing now. He's not going after Cucurucho specifically for a reason: he knows he can't win. Which is why he's going after the regular workers first. That way, he can start dismantling the Federation from the outside as others dismantle it from the inside (he knows about Fit being a spy, and he technically knows about Foolish even if he doesn't believe him all the way.)
We all think the Federation has plot armor, but it really doesn't! All things considered, the islanders have won against it several times! Between the eggs basically going rogue and breaking whatever programming they were under as Federation creations to get attached to their parents, ElQuackity the Federation Plant losing the election due to islanders' interference, Cellbit keeping the Federation from killing him by killing himself, the Mini-Mes being stolen, Pac and Mike escaping prison, Felps and Cellbit escaping their prison, Baghera escaping the island in the first place, the islanders becoming friends with several workers to the point of said workers defecting from the Federation, Forever and Pac being freed from the influence of the Happy Pills, and literally everything Fit and Foolish have managed to do while undercover, we've seen the Federation lose, and I think we forget about all of this because, well. It is Torture Island.
The plot armor here isn't necessarily the Federation's. It's Cucurucho's, and it's Cellbit's real target. But he knows he can't do anything to it yet, and so he's going for everything around it, and then, when he's strong enough or whatever, he's going to go for Cucurucho itself, and he's made it bleed before, actually, way back during the first Hide and Seek game day. He's just waiting for another opportunity, and he's waiting very patiently. (LOL)
It looks hopeless now, but this is legitimately day one of the arc. It's no use doomposting or anything when we haven't seen who's gonna help Cellbit out, because we know that some of the strongest people on the island possibly would. Like Etoiles, who legit doesn't give a fuck about killing Federation workers because he did quite literally kill like 20 in ten minutes or so, EZ. And Roier, who is genuinely one of the strongest non-Etoiles pvpers on the island. And Maxo, who has a literal nuclear bomb.
My advice as a writer? Just chill and don't think about it too much. I can see how awesome this arc is going to be because Cellbit is an EXCELLENT storyteller. It's not worth worrying about when we don't even know all the factors in play yet.

The Shredder's Henchmen from TMNT 2003 were parallels of the turtles. Not directly enough that it was on purpose, but they still managed to give the Shredder 4 primary henchmen with personalities that mirror the turtles' base traits of "Leader", "Rude", "Smart", and "Fun". (Also, I love character parallels and always try to finagle them out of any media I can.)
Karai is the most obviously made to mirror Leo. She's The Leader, the obviously favored child henchman with more power and authority than the others. She's a better leader than even the Shredder himself, her soldiers and technicians are better trained and more competent than the Shredder's original forces. It’s made obvious in the show, the increased threat she and her people are to the turtles. She is the closest to Shredder, literally his daughter, but she isn’t treated differently than Shredder’s other high ranking subordinates. She is praised when she succeeds and is punished when she fails, she’s just competent enough to never fully fail. She always has at least a little bit of a win that saves her from the really bad punishments, something she learned from Shredder.
Hun may be more of a parallel to Casey, but Casey is a parallel to Raph, so by the transitive property, Hun is Raph's foil. He's mean and angry and loves a good beatdown and wanton destruction, but he's also loyal and devoted to a fault. Hun is Karai's rival, put in a position of power above others, but Shredder's disrespect for him prevents him from moving up the ranks any more than that. To Shredder, Hun is just a gangster and can be replaced by any other gangster. To Shredder, Hun is just a ball of anger and muscle that can be thrown at a problem until it stops moving. Hun is treated more like a dog than a person, someone that can follow orders but not think for himself. But Hun is too loyal, too devoted to see that his master doesn’t respect him. Hun sees Shredder as a man who has earned his power, money, and respect, which is why he immediately turns once Shredder’s revealed to be an Utrom, that’s not a Man Who’s Earned His Place, that’s an alien who cheated his way to the top of humanity. Once Shredder is gone in season 5 - Once free from the “stupid gangster” box Shredder kept him in, Hun really steps up his villain game and turns the Purple Dragons from just a street gang to a proper organized crime syndicate.
Stockman “does machines” and also various other crimes against nature as desired. He's a genius unchecked by morals, and who seems to think caring for other people is a weakness and a detriment. He uses his intelligence to get fame and praise, he doesn't think "how can I use science to make the world a better place" or even "science/knowledge is valuable in and of itself", at best he thinks "what problem do other people have that I can fix and get praise for". And that mindset lead him to Shredder, who gives Stockman praise until his usefulness is outweighed by his ego. Donnie has a tempered ego, grounded by his brothers and his friends who praise him for his successes but who also care about his physical and mental wellbeing, but also an altruistic nature nurtured in him by Splinter. If Stockman’s mom hadn’t died, if he’d had anyone else to keep him grounded, if he had anything other than his own ego fueling him, he wouldn’t have ended up in Shredder’s employ, wouldn't have ended up in pieces (also, in Fast Forward, the moment he does get someone to genuinely care about him, he switches sides and starts, like, working on a farm for his bestie).
So, who's the Fun one then, you might ask? Why it’s Dr. Chaplin! He is a seemingly innocent and naive scientist, but is actually just as evil as everyone around him - he's just so nice to everyone! Even people who are mean to him or exploiting him or even try to get him killed - except of course he's also fine with destroying the world, enslaving humanity, and perpetrating intergalactic colonialism. He's naturally gifted, and seems almost desperate for praise and attention and acceptance, so much so, he’s willing to theoretically participate in multiple genocides. He's so happy to just be included, be asked to do things, be a part of a team, or even be put in charge. He just goes along with whatever will give him that attention, that praise, that acceptance, no matter the cost. He understands that other people are people and focuses more on making other's happy over his own desires, because he needs it, he needs them to like him, or at least, put up with his presence, and if making murder-bots will do that, then he's making murder-bots. He's willing to devote any and all talent and skill to anyone willing to give him a chance or who he can look up to. He's looking for a found family and doesn't care if they're the bad guys, he just needs to belong. A real Chaotic Neutral type of guy! And if Mikey didn’t have his family to give him affirmation about his place in the universe and direct his natural talents in a productive direction? Well, he would probably also devote himself to the first guy to come along and promise any level of acceptance.

Off the back of your post regarding Callum being happy to kill Aaravos and how this differs to Rayla-
What if the key for him to unlock the moon arcanum is not just his love for Rayla but also realisation that all life is precious? Not to say that Callum doesn’t already believe this (he hates using dark magic after all) but that to take a life is not something done lightly (referring back to the scene in episode 1/2 with the moon shadow elves talking about assassination and how life isn’t taken carelessly) and it’s this realisation/ acceptance in a similar manner to how the moon shadow elves view life/death and taking of life that enables him to connect to the moon..?
Yeah, Rayla sees killing as like - a duty or revenge, and something to be fierce in maybe (she wanted presumptive-Viren to know it was her in Chasing Shadows) but not something to... revel in or enjoy per se. Not that Callum does either, logistically (most of the time, with 3x09 as the exception) as he treats the matter of finding a way to kill Aaravos pretty seriously, but he's definitely more... light hearted and eager about in comparison to Ezran and Rayla
I don't think for him it comes from treating life/death lightly, it's just that he's operating on a different set of internal morals. He doesn't like death and violence and dark magic, but he'll still engage in all of those things readily to protect his loved ones on a measure that Ez and Rayla don't have the same... attitude/narrow-ness towards? I'm trying to think of how to articulate it, but it's like... Ezran (hypothetically) and Rayla (in early s1) will try to carry out doing things they know/think of as Wrong (as Callum calls out Rayla on in 1x02) but not typically succeed in going through with it (the exception being a lack of action on Rayla's part, arguably, in 4x05)? Or will loop around and frame it as this is the Right Thing to do or genuinely believe that it's the Right Thing to do (which is far more like Claudia, but I've talked about between how Ezran-Claudia and Rayla-Claudia frame things similarly before / that's a meta for another day)
To me Callum is more like Viren than Claudia in terms of justification (whereas Callum is more like Claudia in terms of his motivations) which I've also talked about elsewhere. He'll know and fully participate in something he believes is Wrong (like dark magic) if the ends (saving his loved ones) justify the means without trying to warp it into being something right - just something necessary
Like I don't think Callum losing his protective / loving nature for his friends is the answer, per se. (I don't know what Viren would've done in 5x09, for example, if killing Sir Sparklepuff had been required to save Claudia's life rather than his own, y'know?) I've said it before and I've said it again but there's nothing Wrong with that kind of love / it is absolutely understandable and where I think most people would fall, even if people might have more limits or lines they wouldn't/won't cross.
On of the things with Callum's tunnel vision / obsessive nature is that he can get fixated on certain things and miss the other side of an equation, i.e. Rayla isn't telling them everything in 1x06, so it takes until the end of the ep for him to settle on prioritizing what she has told him; the resource of magic comes from the primal stone (even though as Ellis points out, it also needs someone to channel it to actually be useful) and so therefore without it he's "nothing"; he put himself and Zym at risk in 2x04 "for nothing" because he didn't even connect anyone, missing the point (as Rayla reminds him) that the important thing is that he and Zym came out of it okay, and that his life is way more important (and is already valuable) regardless of any magical ability, etc etc.
In Callum's worries over Aaravos in S4 ("What if I'm on a path of darkness?") he's losing sight of the potential choices he does have. And obviously S6 is going to be very Greek Tragedy of him playing into Aaravos' hands somehow no matter what or precisely because of the lengths he's gone to in attempting to Not do that, but we're thinking S7 endgame, y'know? In focusing on the darkness, Callum ignores the possibility of light. In focusing on a light or dark dichotomy (as the light, evidenced by the key glowing in the pawn intro, isn't always Good either, just as dark isn't always bad), it's ignoring the fact the can and should and probably will throw the binary away. Just as "powerless human OR dark mage" as a dichotomy has been reconciling to a "a powerless human IS / equals being a dark mage" over the course of arc 2 so far, I expect that to collide with the sentiment of "No matter where you are on the path, every step you take is a choice" as also "No matter where you are on the path [of fate] you can always change the game, create a new destiny, take control back into your own hands, etc" y'know? Not just winning or losing the game, but upending the board in the first place. Breaking the cycle; breaking the system
Basically: if Callum does connect to the moon arcanum (and it is adjacent to the brainwashing and/or fully re-connecting with Rayla in S6), I think it'll come from him being able to remember and reconcile his "inner darkness," yes, but also with light, that these are all parts of him and the sum of them is greater than and that he is not singularly marked by any particular part. That much like the prison and the broken mirror, he is a puzzle in his own right, and the only people that can solve him are himself and the people he loves, and certainly not Aaravos.

man, the gulf between season 8 wash and chorus trilogy wash (or even season 10 wash!) is actually completely and utterly bonkers
Serious Competentman things wash does in recovery one and season 6:
takes down a hornet with exceptional competency
faces down the meta one-on-one multiple times
calmly disposes of many dead bodies, including those of his former teammates and friends
shoot (at best) or kills (at worst) several guards at headquarters
with the crowning "oooooh boy" achievement being: he kills south in cold blood
which is like, alright! neat! we have now gotten another Serious Compenentman freelancer, and this all tracks more or less to what we've seen tex, wyoming, york, and south do. wash in season 6 is the reality check to the reds and blues; he's the straight man (...ykwim) to their brand of insanity.
by season 8, wash is so completely off the fucking rails that he's the one that needs a reality check character. doc plays that part for both wash and maine* in season 8; he's the token blood gulch haha funnyguy character who both offsets our Serious Antagonists and occasionally mediates between them, and he's there to alleviate the tension. (to the audience, at least. our Serious Antagonists have no time for jokes.)
this is epitomized, imo, when they're in the desert dealing with the aliens and trying to find the (discarded) epsilon unit:
wash: you sure that's what he's doing? doc: well, my alien-to-english is a little rusty. i would suggest we get one of those translator balls, but we've got enough jerks around here already. maine: [speaks] wash: i agree. we should just kill most of them. the last one left alive will talk. doc: (patiently) wash, you just can't kill everybody you meet. wash: why not? doc: uh... well, now you've put me on the spot. i don't really have an answer for that. seems like a bad idea, though. karma?
wash has killed people before - many people, in fact! - and he's certainly far from squeamish about it, but this is on an entirely different level. he isn't playing the straight man to the blood gulch guys here. he's entirely serious about killing this group of aliens and so is maine. sure, this is a big and significant turn from how he acted in season 6, but who he is by the time the chorus trilogy rolls around makes this person from season 8 almost entirely unrecognizable.
other things wash does during his baddie arc include:
shooting lopez
(functionally) killing donut
probably genuinely would have killed doc at multiple points if he didn't prove himself useful in one way or another
treating maine exceptionally poorly, even though they were at least superficially friendly at some point in the past, until it serves him to be slightly nicer
(he's also mean to doc, but they don't have a history)
tucker's character arc (rightfully) gets the most screen time in the chorus trilogy, but wash's and carolina's growth - while a little more understated - is also not at all to be discarded. season 8 is wash's ugliest moment** and boy is it fucking bleak. he's mean to maine and verges on downright cruel until things start to go his way; he acts entirely out of selfishness to clear his own name; he's willing to throw anyone and everyone under the bus and kill his way to the finish line. and then he doesn't.
he survives but he doesn't really succeed in clearing his name, and he doesn't really earn his redemption, per se, but we get reminded multiple times over the rest of the series that he was that terrible person at one point and he isn't anymore. going backwards from the chorus trilogy to season 8 is almost enough to cause whiplash and the way his growth gets shown from that point on (while also taking a back seat) is so gratifying. he tells locus, "[...] you’re too afraid to take responsibility for what you’ve done. I know I used to be a real piece of shit, but at least I’m trying to do something about it." and he does! that's the thing. he does.
*i'll die on this hill; see the "elaborate on that" "no" video.
**i say this knowing fully and completely that if wash did not have his baddie arc, i would not like him half as much as i do

Do you have any Steddie fic recs? I am trying to find something to read and thought you would probably have a good opinion on the topic ☺️
unfortunately, i'm terribly afflicted by my inability to read and write at the same time. "Write" was assigned by my brain for stranger things, which means the list of things I've read can pretty much be counted on both hands, outside of tumblr ficlets (which, all the ones I have collected are tagged!). @sparkle-fiend wrote one of my favorites.
As for fics on AO3, I was suckered into two time-loop fics, both of which I enjoyed. They're long, meaty, plot-thick stories.
The first is The One in Which a Time Loop is Fucking Exhausting. and it it not for the faint of heart. It's an "X character loops over and over and over until they don't" premise, except the loop isn't time-based, it goes until the MC (Steve) dies. Which DOES mean that if he fails to succeed through the loop, and the loop itself doesn't kill him, then he has to kill himself to reset it. I say this as a warning because the first time is a pretty brutal (emotionally, not physically) suicide. It gets glossed over as time goes on, the plot and story are great. If you like your heart to be in pain, this is a good one. There's a sequel, I think, that I've never read, but I assume that it's similar quality.
The second is actually my favorite of the two, it is Space Age Love Song by @b-icetea. It's a lot more light-hearted. Steve is looped back in time only once, and given enough time to befriend Eddie before Vecna becomes a thing, in the hope that their friendship (and possibly also romance) will save Eddie's life. Writing's great, slow burn is great, plot (and plot twists!!!) are great, ending is soft.
I wish I had a more helpful plethora to choose from. I hope you're able to find something to read!

Ok the last thing I asked was supposed to be the last one for the day but I realized In the everybody's fallen Au did the council kick all four brother out of heaven just because of Gabriels actions thinking: "this one's fucked so the whole batch is"
so i've done some thinking on how all of this might pan out because i definitely didn't think too deeply on it initially and figured they just sort of. lose their faith and fall after all the events that occur BUT that's not consistent with my own internal logic bc falling here requires an expelling from the loss of one's light. and to me, only those very high in heaven can strip an angel of their light, with seraphim by and large not participating in the practice due to their belief it is the right of god, not themselves. the council is the only group that breaches this code, but only rarely and because they've convinced the others in heaven that they must continue the work of god to maintain stability...which sometimes includes taking out the trash.
so it is the council's doing largely, and it's because gabriel returns after his own severing to execute them as per the events of the game - however in this case, the council is scattered at the time, meaning it takes gabriel awhile to get to each of them, with news spreading internally about the massacre. raphael and uriel are, unfortunately, pretty defenseless as hostages since raph can't really fight himself while uriel is still currently comatose. so what's left of the council attempts to use them as bargaining chips for their lives against gabriel while still justifying this as their right - gabriel has gone bad, and since the rest of the archangels share a mind with him they could all now be considered corrupted. plus honestly the council being the council means they've got dirt on everyone, including raphael and uriel (raph is actually known to lie fairly frequently to defuse conflict while they have found out as well that uriel edits and censors his records - fraud and heresy pack it up!!!) gabriel is furious and does what he can to kill the biggest threats now among them as quickly as he can, but the light is still torn from the two other archangels basically as a big "fuck you" to all of them (but mostly gabe) this causes a pretty serious rift in the three, and the guilt consumes gabriel as they must all now descend to hell
michael is the only exception, as i figure he could never be taken in by the council like this due to his strength and absolute refusal to bow to them. i instead just have his personal light severing succeed like i've talked about before, and so he becomes a fallen angel of violence separate from the other three. gabriel obviously goes looking for the other two, considering how unprepared they are to deal with hell, but i like the idea that he finds uriel while mike finds raph - i think it's the best way to snap him out of his entire crusade against what's left of the world god made when he sees raphael all alone, sick, exhausted, and in tears because he doesn't know what to do (he was likely also trying to find gabriel) he's beside himself seeing michael, but also relieved he at least has some help...and while mike realizes it's antithetical to his whole purpose now, he stays with raph to protect him until they meet with gabe and uriel

Heart of Gold (Pushed Too Far)
Raph hates when Leo goes solo. It's constant, it's always stressful, it deprives the whole team of a valuable member. Sure, Raph's been known to try the solo thing himself as well, but never in the way Leo does.
When Donnie tries it, though, that's always an interesting time. Because Donnie is always almost hyper-competent on his own... until he isn't.
He goes to save April's dad all on his own, and almost succeeds except for an unexpected space assassin. He takes up finding a cure for mutagen mutations all by himself, and actually manages it despite all the setbacks. He helps April and Casey take down the mutagen worms from Dimension X, which may not be entirely solo but is still him being the only of his brothers on the scene.
Now he's a quiet, vengeful shadow, having somehow made it up to the roof of Don Vizioso's place without even his own team realizing he'd slipped away and taking out the guards with one move.
It's pretty impressive, honestly.
Leo looks worried. He pulls out his T-Phone and, despite his earlier insistences of stealth, shouts into it. "Donatello, what are you doing?"
Donnie's voice comes out of the T-Phone speaker sharp and tense. "I'm getting that heart and putting an end to Vizioso, for good!"
Donnie almost sounds like Raph, in a way. As much as Raph admires Donnie's guts right now... it's a little concerning.
"Whatever is between you and the Don doesn't matter!" Oh, that's a mistake. If it was Raph, that'd just make him more determined to do the thing he's set out to do. "You're jeopardizing the mission!"
Again, the voice that comes through the speaker is sharp and angry. "Oh come on, look at all the anti-mutant weapons he's built! We need to put a stop to this, and we need to do it now! Donnie out!"
He's got a good point, Raph thinks. Fighting other mutants and aliens and and ninjas demons, that's one thing. Fighting humans with weapons made specifically to kill not just who they are, but what they are? That's different. That's sicker. There's no personal vendetta, no perceived slights, no old rivalry to put a target on their backs.
It's just their general existence.
"DONNIE!" Great stealth there, Leo. Raph's pretty sure they heard him all the way in Maine.
"Uh, guys? Stealth isn't gonna matter!" That ship has long sailed, but before Raph can tell April that he sees what she means.
BeeBop and Rocksteady, again. So it turns into a shoot out. And then that Demon shows up, and it gets even worse.
"I'll back up Donnie!" Leo shouts. "Whatever you do, get that s-"
"Hey, no way!" Raph pulls out his sai and scowls at Leo. "You're not using this to pull the solo act again! I'll go back up Donnie, you figure out that seal thing!"
"What?! Raph, I'm the leader and-"
"And you're the one Splinter spent the most time doing spiritual training with! If anyone can figure out that seal, it's you!"
Leo opens his mouth to argue, but he knows he can't. Donnie may be the smart one, but Raph's always been the practical one. ... When his head is clear. And right now, it is.
Biggest problem is the demon. Leaders face the biggest problems.
"Fine. Just- keep him from doing anything stupid!" Leo looks down at the fight below. "I-I don't like the headspace he's in, the way he's talking. Keep him grounded."
Raph rolls his eyes. So Donnie wants a little revenge. He's smart, and thinking clearly enough as far as Raph can tell. It's not that big a deal.
Donnie knows not to take it too far.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, maybe Donnie's not as clear-headed as Raph had thought. But almost falling off a building and cracking your shell if not for a tackle-save by your brother will do that to you. Just like BeeBop calling you "turt" will. Boy, did that make Raph want to pin BeeBop's togue to the wall with a shuriken.
Made Donnie feel the same, apparently, because he hit BeeBop harder than Raph's seen him hit anyone before, except in literal life-or-death situations.
He's focused. Sometimes you forget to pull your punches when you're focused. It happens.
Now, as they take out the two guards in the hallway, Raph's starting to get a little worried too. Because he's pretty sure Donnie didn't need to squeeze that guy's neck that hard to knock him out.
"So what're we thinking for getting the heart?" Raph whispers roughly, elbowing a guard who opens the door behind him without even looking. "Give Vizioso a little lesson first, or after?"
"In the spirit of multitasking, I think we can do both at once," Donnie whispers back. He jolts a little when Raph throws the unconscious guy's gun at the guard sneaking up behind him, temporarily wiping the scowl off his face.
"Sounds good to me," Raph whispers back with a grin.
Donnie doesn't smile. "At least you get it."
"Eh, Leo's a spoilsport sometimes. A little butt-kicking revenge never hurt anyone. ... Well, never hurt anyone metaphorically."
"Yeah. Sure." Raph goes first down the hallway, and Donnie follows him.
Raph hopes things are going as smoothly outside as they are for him and Donnie.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So smoothly is an exaggeration once they're actually inside the room, but it could be worse. Vizioso seems content letting his thugs do the work for him, so at least it's a two-on-two fight.
And they're not just even in number, but ferocity. While Raph manages to stab his sai into the twin he's fighting knee, Donnie hits the other one in the chest with his bo so hard Raph hears the distinct crack of a broken rib, and another when the blow makes the man slam against the wall.
And then Donnie grabs Vizioso, and Raph smirks. See, Leo? A little revenge to clear out the system. This guy tried to dissect Donnie, so a little beatdown isn't exactly unearned.
Until Donnie releases the blade from the tip of the bo.
"This is the end for you, Vizioso!"
It doesn't seem like he's doing it just to intimidate.
"Donnie, a little help here!" Raph is trying to shove the remaining twin into the wall. Donnie doesn't seem to hear him. He just slams Vizioso against the wall and puts the bade right to Vizioso's face.
Oh, sewer apples. Now Raph gets why Leo was worried.
"Donnie, quit screwing around and help me!" Raph flips the twin over his shoulder. Donnie remains laser-focused, the way he was in the lab when making retromutagen, the way he is when upgrading the Shellraizer, the way he does when April is in danger.
"This is the end," he growls. It doesn't even sound like him.
Donnie must hear it too, because suddenly he gasps. He gasps and jerks away from his own reflection like it hurt to look at.
"Because-" Raph sees it, just for a second. Something he's so very familiar with. An inner struggle, trying to control the anger before it controls you.
He suddenly wishes he'd taught his brothers some of the techniques Splinter taught him.
That second feels eternal, with Donnie hesitating and looking away from Vizioso with his eyes shut tight.
And then Donnie looks back up. "Because we're taking the heart, and you're going to jail!" He slams Vizioso to the ground, still harder than he needs to, but it's not a blade through the face so Raph hopes Vizioso is grateful.
"Nice job, Donnie." Raph slings an arm around his brother, grinning at him. "And you didn't even have anger management with m-"
The next thing Raph knows is the floor.
His head spins and his side burns. He groans, his vision swimming. He sees one of Vizioso's twin lackey's holding something, something big and glowing at one end, and sees Vizioso going to grab the heart Raph dropped-
And then he sees Red.
Everywhere.
He feels himself be lifted up, two arms working to support him. He hears a shaking, strained voice calling his name.
He tries to turn to look, because- because there's a metallic smell and that means-
"Please don't look." The voice trembles so much the words are almost nonsense. "Please don't look at it."
"D-Donnie?" Raph looks up.
There's dark blotches on Donnie's mask. Face. Everywhere.
His eyes are wide. Terrified. Horrified.
They start making their way back to the hallway. "Donnie, stop. Did- did you-"
"Don't tell the others," Donnie croaks. "Please. You went down and-"
Raph realizes that his brother's hand is pressed to his burning side, with a pressure level Raph's very familiar with. Trying to stop the bleeding.
"You'll be okay," Donnie breathes. "He can't hurt us anymore."
The steadiness of Donnie's arms should be comforting Raph right now.
He thinks back to the red.
"You... need to get cleaned up," Raph grunts. "If you... don't want them to know." He pushes away from Donnie, putting his own hand over his wound. "And the... the body."
Donnie's eyes somehow widen even more. "Raph-"
"Hey." Raph puts his free hand on Donnie's shoulder. "I know. The others might not get it. But- hhhn-" He sucks in a breath, which unfortunately only hurts more. "But I do," he breathes out. "You gave him a chance."
"... I..."
"We'll hide it," Raph pulls one of the masks off of the still unconscious guards in the hallway and readjusts his belt, tightening it to press the mask to the wound with as much pressure as possible. He breathes out slowly. "They don't have to know."
Donnie stares dumbfounded at Raph. Raph grabs another mask, and uses it to wipe some blood off of Donnie's face. "Come on. The others won't be fighting that demon forever. Leo's bound to figure out how to use that seal any minute now."
"O-okay." Donnie takes the mask out of Raph's hands. Now, the unsettling steadiness of his arms is fading, and Donnie begins to shake. "Do... do you think this is how Leo felt? After Shredder?"
Raph sucks in a breath. That's what Leo meant.
He saw it. He recognized it. From himself.
And thanks to Raph, he wasn't here to prevent Donnie from doing the same thing.
"I don't know, Donnie."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They have the heart. It's being kept in a junk drawer in the garage.
No-one wanted it to be where they could see it, and no-one wanted to give it the honor of a special containment.
Leo had figured out the seal. He sent that demon back to wherever it was truly from, we ith an extra command for it to stay there forever.
None of them had found Donnie when it was all over. Raph just stumbled out of the building, a bleeding wound in his side and the heart in his hands.
He said Donnie took off to get better medical supplies, and Vizioso got away.
When Donnie showed up with the Shellraizer, he didn't have his bo with him, and he was wearing his backup mask. He said his usual one got torn in the fight.
Later that night, when everyone else was asleep, Raph helped Donnie wash his mask and his staff, steady hands working with trembling ones to clear all the red out of the fabric and wood.

Hello!
As a question (or request, idk, go crazy :D)- what would happen if Marshall (would try to or succeed) to stab Lawrence?
Have a good day, the story is amazing btw I am addicted to it. The way you write is just great!
Tysm, I'm so glad you like it!! I ended up indeed going crazy with this, so... yeah, many content warnings ahead!!
CW: Parental/creepy whumper, food, stabbing, death wish, failed escape attempt, beating, infantilizing behavior, degradation, manipulative words, violence, drugging, begging, Lawrence being Lawrence
"I want to go back to my real family," Marshall mutters while Lawrence is in the middle of making lunch.
He doesn't dare look at the older man as he says this, afraid if he meets his eyes, he'll immediately crack under pressure and apologize. He's tired of apologizing, he's tired of staying quiet.
The blond clicks his tongue, not stopping his movements. He grabs two slices of bread and cuts the crusts off. "And what brought this up?"
Marshall hesitates. Whenever Lawrence has that shockingly calm tone, it really means anything but. "It... it's been on my mind. You know it has."
Lawrence finally stops to look at him. His expression is unreadable, but Marshall can see the anger behind it. "Just because something's on your mind, Marshall, doesn't mean you should say it. You really hurt my feelings. I'm your real father."
He expects an apology.
"I'm sorry... you feel that way. But you're hurting my feelings by keeping me here against my will." Marshall looks down at his lap.
The plate of a sandwich gets put in front of him. Marshall looks up to see Lawrence still looks somewhat collected. He wonders if that's a threatening invitation to continue.
Lawrence grabs Marshall's chin and yanks his face towards him. "Say that one more time and you're going straight back to your room, do you understand me? I will not be disrespected, especially by my own son. Apologize."
Marshall delays his reply just one second and Lawrence grips his chin tighter, forcing him to relent.
"Okay, okay, I'm sorry."
Lawrence lets go and ruffles his hair, demeanor changing like it always miraculously does. "Good boy. Now eat your lunch, I need to go make a few calls."
Marshall watches as he leaves, wondering how on earth the man trusted him alone after that. Then again, how long has he been here? A couple days? A couple months?
He's been relatively obedient, except for the occasional outburst... part of him feels bad for his captor, and he can't even tell why.
He looks down at the sandwich blearily. The crusts have been cut, like they always are.
He faintly hears Lawrence talking to someone from upstairs. It makes him feel safe, only because that means Lawrence is busy, meaning he can be alone from him for just a few minutes.
Sighing softly, he bites into the sandwich. As he's swallowing, he looks over at the butter knife that Lawrence used to cut the crusts. Sure, a butter knife can't do any damage, but what about...
Marshall shakes his head to himself. No. No way. Lawrence is much taller than him, and he's taking a bet he's pretty strong too.
What if this is his only last shot, though? Marshall doesn't want to stab Lawrence, though! He couldn't live with himself if he killed anyone, even someone like Lawrence.
Worry begins pooling in his gut once again as he realizes if he wants to act, he better act fast.
In an impulsive decision, still hearing Lawrence's muffled speaking from above him, he opens one of the drawers where all the silverware is kept, and the largest thing he grabs is a small steak knife. He imagines the large knives are kept locked up, so this will have to do.
Besides, it's more convenient this way. He doesn't want a blood bath, after all.
It's barely big enough to fit in his pocket, he just needs to wait for the right opportunity, because he doubts he should just go about stabbing Lawrence now, when he's sure there's a more peaceful solution...
Maybe he could wait until he's sleeping to take his phone, and take the knife with him, just in case he wakes up. That sounds like a good idea, right? He asks himself if he really wants to risk this one more time before he hears Lawrence's steps coming back down the stairs.
He hides the knife and tries desperately to pretend everything's normal.
...
Marshall assumes Lawrence's phone is in his pocket, considering last time he tried finding his phone or keys, he couldn't find either. He just hopes he can reach into his pocket without waking him.
Will a small steak knife even do anything? He's clearly never stabbed anyone or anything before, so how much damage will this actually do? Will he just be waiting for the beating of a lifetime if he stabs him? Is this a bad idea?
No. He wants to get out of here, and that's his solution. He's not a smart person by far, there's no way he can come up with anything clever, nor is he strong.
He's out of any smart options at this point and it's just up to chance. He's pretty sure he's dissociating or something, because nothing feels real, which is likely the only reason he's worked up enough courage to do this.
Marshall sneaks in Lawrence's bedroom an hour after he declared he was going to bed. To his relief, Lawrence seems to be dead asleep. He slowly creeps forward, and smiles to himself when he sees Lawrence's phone is in plain sight, right next to him on the bed.
A little luck will definitely come in handy.
Being ever so careful, he grabs the phone and slowly takes his hand away. Luckily, Lawrence doesn't even stir. He internally sighs in relief and curses to himself when he sees it has a passcode on it. He also notices there's the option to get in with your thumbprint.
Marshall struggles on what to do now. He's really on dangerous territory, but luckily he's noticed that Lawrence is more of a heavy sleeper. With a shaky hand, he presses the home button to Lawrence's thumb, and it works. He once again slowly retracts the phone from his hand and exits the room.
Breath caught in his throat, he stares down at the floor, praying Lawrence won't hear anything. He's about to dial in 911, when...
"Give me the phone. Now."
Dread fills his chest and makes him choke on air. He turns around to see Lawrence standing just a few feet away from him, and he looks beyond pissed. Marshall doesn't think, just bolts with the phone in hand. There's nowhere he can run to, given he can't even leave this hellhole, but at least it'll buy him time to call.
Lawrence is still much taller than him, and yells, "Marshall, give me the fucking phone!"
Marshall is too scared to respond, too busy with running for what feels like his life, but soon gets tackled to the ground as soon as he runs down the stairs.
He gets the phone ripped from his hands, and pulls out the knife he has in pocket to stab Lawrence, barely nicking his hand.
"You... stabbed me..." Lawrence's eyes widen in shock, and then the rage returns. "How dare you?!"
Eyes filled with tears now, Marshall tries stabbing him again, this time getting him in the shoulder before Lawrence grabs the knife from him and throws it across the room.
Marshall gasps and hugs himself tightly to protect himself. How could he be such an idiot? He regrets this all, he has no idea what gave him the courage to do this in the first place.
Lawrence is holding Marshall's wrists behind his back, so tightly Marshall feels like they're ready to fall off. Marshall gets whiplash at how aggressively Lawrence pulls him up to his feet, then grabs his wrist and drags him to the basement, the place Marshall dreads more than anything.
"Please," Marshall wails, "I just wanna go home!"
He growls, "I don't care what you want," and drags him down the stairs, as well. He throws him to the ground and before Marshall can get back up, Lawrence grips him by his hair and yanks his head up to look at him, similar to when he gripped his chin, except this is more painful. "You stabbed me. You stabbed your own father, and now you're the one crying?"
"I'm sorry," Marshall pleads. "I'm sorry, please don't-- don't kill me."
For a brief moment, Lawrence shows pity. He lets go of his hair. "I won't kill you, I would never do that. You know I'd never do that. I love you."
Marshall doesn't know why he thought he was getting Lawrence to calm down, because the next thing he knows, Lawrence is kicking him in the side, forcing him to stay back down on the cold floor. The pain makes him cry out in agony.
"I don't like hurting you, but when you fucking stab me, I guess you're just asking me to at this point, right?" Lawrence chuckles, but it's anything but humorless, as he looks down at his shirt. "And look at that. Now I have blood all over my clothes. Are you happy now? Did you have fun hurting your father?"
"I didn't want to! I'm sorry!" Marshall shakes with more sobs.
"No, I think you're just sorry you're getting consequences." He kicks Marshall's leg, forcing him to curl into a ball as he screams in pain. "Look at yourself. This could've all been avoided so easily. Seeing how stupid you are, I think you're just proving my point about you needing me!"
Frozen in shock and terror, Marshall is unable to react.
"I shouldn't blame you..." Much to his surprise, Lawrence's tone becomes lighter, back into its usual infantilizing coo. He kneels back down and cups Marshall's cheek. "You can't help it, now can you? You're still young, you don't understand what you did..." His hand goes to Marshall's hair again, this time to run his fingers through the curls instead of pulling at them. His own blood soaks into Marshall's hair.
Marshall hates his tone. He's used to it, sure, but he's never heard it in this situation... he doesn't know if that's a good thing or not.
Lawrence uses his other hand to wipe his tears. "You know what, Marshie? I think you need a nap."
As soon as Lawrence retracts his bloody hand from Marshall's hair and to his pocket, Marshall knows what's coming. He screams and tries to stand up, but Lawrence the hand that was just wiping his tears away to yank Marshall back down by his wrist.
Marshall starts struggling harder when he sees the needle. He tries to push Lawrence away, but it's to no use, as Lawrence quickly injects him. He hates to think Lawrence just keeps those on him at all times.
"Don't fight it, buddy. Just go to sleep." Lawrence smiles at him. "When you wake up we're going to have a long, long talk..."

Well, this was unexpected!
It seems that Solar Flare wasn't actually dead. He's certainly been watching everything play out, considering he brought up Sun's slew of insults toward Eclipse. I might just have to draw him for doing so much to hold Eclipse back behind the scenes!
Eclipse has apparently had a new body in the works for some amount of time, but Solar Flare isn't going to let him use that body without taking himself along and potentially killing them both.
Something Solar Flare said made me think of a point that I very vaguely hinted at quite a while back; Eclipse always seems to find a way to make things go wrong for himself. He really could easily just destroy everyone and everything he hates in an instant, but he chooses not to. Though, that also could be because of his fear of being alone and forgotten. There's also the fact that every single one of his creations has ended up turning against him for different reasons. Bloodmoon was too aggressive and uncontrollable, with added hatred toward Eclipse for making them bloodthirsty. Lunar was made to be more passive to avoid what happened with Bloodmoon, but this also led him to eventually realizing how cruel Eclipse was and that he could find happiness elsewhere. Then, there was Solar Flare; with no emotions or personality programmed in, surely there was no way for him to turn. Except the one thing that WAS programmed into him was the requirement to protect someone Eclipse eventually wanted to get rid of. Along with maybe having some part of himself deep down that WANTS him to fail, he also believes he can manipulate anyone he wants in whatever way he wants. What he doesn't seem to ever realize is that he isn't nearly as clever or convincing in his deception as he thinks he is.
He also has the desire to be number one. It's the reason he began to hate KC when he took charge of things. We still see that desire now; he said he needs to do something to "assert [himself] as dominant again". Again, he fears being alone and forgotten, and that's why he's going to keep pushing himself further and further into his own destruction.
Based on him saying he's going to give a "false sense of hope", I can think of two things that might mean. It might mean that we won't be seeing him again for quite a while; he may lay low to try and make Sun and Moon think that he's too weak to do anything, or that he's just succumbed to the Star's power and died. The other possibility is that he may come literally crawling to them and pleading to them to help him be good. He might try to act as though he wants that redemption arc until their guards are lowered, hence the false sense of hope. That could go a few ways. Sun and Moon could deny him outright, which honestly seems like the most likely outcome. They could decide to cautiously give him a chance, but then later see through him because no version of Eclipse is nearly as good at acting as they like to think they are. They could decide to give him a chance, but not see through him, causing Eclipse to succeed in his eventual betrayal. It could also be that it starts purely as an act, but he slowly does start to actually come around. I guess there's some hope in the fact that only one of those outcomes actually ends in a big betrayal.
I'm gonna be honest, I could go on for a lot longer (especially since there are other things brought up in this video alone that I could talk about), but I think I've rambled enough for one post.

Never did he think his life would be like this...
Mokuba could handle where he was before the sudden changes that started a few weeks ago. Being the illegimatie child of King Kaiba meant he had to live a life of seclusion, for no one could know the man known as a perfectionist had a child he didn't intend for. It was lonely, downright depressing at times, but...it was something he had been able to manage after creating S.E.T.O., an ai meant to fill the role of an older sibling his own half-brother refused to take on in his life.
With S.E.T.O on the other end of his computer screen, he felt happy for the first time in his miserable life. He felt like he finally got a sense of familial love he had been denied all these years. He felt like he finally was able to accomplish something despite never given any opprounties to succeed or do anything of substance with his existance.
And yet his joyous days were never to last, it seemed. For the day Prince Noah died suddenly from an unknown illness, the rug was ripped from under him and his whole life fell apart never to be rebuilt again. His 'father' suddenly was forced to take interest in him due to no longer having an heir, and with that came many changes Mokuba was not prepared for.
He was suddenly thrust into a world he only got glimpses of, the Kaiba Kingdom his father had made through military might and dominance. New clothes, new servants, new routine, new everything was given to him without any time to process it all. It was so much on one so young, so inexperienced. But...he thought as long as he had S.E.T.O to come back to in his room at the end of each stressful and tiring day, he'd be able to make it through it okay.
At least...he did until he learned that when King Kaiba told him that everything around him would change, he meant everything.
Which leads him to his current predicment, tired and overworked by the very being he created to escape such things. S.E.T.O had changed by his father's hands. Not only did he have a physical form now in the form of a robotic body that you could not tell wasn't a human from a glance, his code had been completely destroyed and re-written, with none of his data from his times with Mokuba remaining, never to be recovered or restored.
Everything that made S.E.T.O well S.E.T.O was gone. For the Sibbling Emotion Thoughtful Openmind had been replaced with the Strict Education Training Operator, an ai with the sole purpose of training Mokuba to be a proper heir to the throne and protect him from those who'd wish him harm. Well...except his 'father', who ironically enough, is the person who has brought the most harm to Mokuba out of anyone in his life.
Between all the textbook readings, lectures, and strict disapline placed on the young boy for hours upon hours without breaks, he thinks to himself why did this have to happen? Was this what Noah had gone through? Why did his father reporgram S.E.T.O at all? What was really the purpose of all this studying to death? Was his father trying to kill him?
He's so tired and stressed he doesn't know the answers to any of those questions, but all he does know is that his heart aches like never before, desperately on the edge of breaking all together with each passing moment. Mokuba is barely able to stand as the clock on the wall signals the end of another hellish day that will soon come again the following morning. Purple hues glance at S.E.T.O, saying so much with no words regarding the state of his condition.
Trying to talk to his former brother figure was pointless. Mokuba had seen that enough these past few weeks, and yet...he can't help but want to keep trying, to try and see if even a bit of his old data remained in his system that he could somehow appeal to. A kid like him in a situation like this only could hold onto his hope to help him through this, a hope that S.E.T.O had once given him that he was so desperately trying to find again.
Tumblr media
"S.E.T.O...?" The crowned prince starts, saying the other's name slowly and laced with sorrows and pleas. "Can...Can we please take the...day off tomorrow from studying? I...I can't...I can't think straight...I can't keep my eyes open...I'm so...so exhausted, that...I'm not really absorbing any of this information you're trying to teach me..."
His hands move to clasp together, a physical display of just how much he was begging for his desires to be granted. He looks at him with dull purple eyes that are accompanied by bags under them, his body swaying side to side as if he could faint at any second. The boy was in rough shape, rougher than he's ever been. For his sake, he prays this time things will be different, that the universe will give him a miracle like it day he initially finished the ai's code. It's all he could hope for, wish for, when he's been faced with nothing but pain for the last few weeks...
"Just...Just one day, t-that's all I ask."

colonnello is the just some guy of the arco by the way. and he's the only just some guy among them because civilian as he may have been, skull obviously has never been just some guy a day in his life. and i know tragic backstories are always a nice way to spice up stories and characters, but no, listen, colonnello is literally the most average just some guy you'll ever meet, i just know it. and if nothing else just consider it for a bit for how funnier it makes everything about him.
it's like, he's a kid and makes himself a friend that just so happens to be the world's greatest hitman to be, and then just commits to it because that's what good friends do right, and it definitely got him into dangerous shits way before he could join the army. and even if we say they weren't actually childhood friends and reborn is just a troll, on the worst day of his life where he was just minding his own business trying to save the love of his life, who among the seven people he ends up cursed with decides to fuck with him and make them childhood friends? that's right, the world’s greatest hitman.
he joins the army and meets lal and falls in love with her, but she just so happens to be one of the world's strongest to be, and it dooms them both. he tries to protect her as you do with the love of your life--or you know what, we don't even have to go there because he could simply have been doing his duty (tho he totally could have been doing both, and likely was), i.e. having the back of his superior officer, so like, the guy was just doing his job and didn't really fail at it but sure as hell didn't succeed either, and also now he's stuck in the form of a baby and his whole life as he knew it is over. but he takes it as a champ right, decides he'll still keep smiling and make the most out of that now shitty and hopeless life until it kills him properly, but then a couple of decades later some guy releases poison in the air to specifically kill him and take his pacifier from him he doesn't even know how to and can't use anyway.
eventually he gets the chance to make his life not shitty and hopeless anymore, and also, you know, to not die, and it's clearly a trap and he doesn't trust it but also he'll never have another chance like that again, and instantly he decides that if he actually wins he'll save the love of his life instead of himself, but then his representative loses because he wanted to have a moment with his son. thankfully things still work out and no one dies, except he'll have to grow normally back to his original age from his current state as a toddler, while the love of his life immediately got back her adult body (which he's grateful for, obviously, but you know). and he still proposes to her because he's been waiting for this and she says yes because she's been waiting for this too, but then they fight and have to postpone the wedding because he just CANNOT WIN.
like, do you see the pattern here, it's so fucking funny. it's like, life just has it out for him, it just went "hey, you? i'm going to screw you over any way i can at literally every opportunity", and meanwhile colonnello's just trying to live his life in peace lmao. and maybe it's not narratively interesting or whatever, but don't look me in the eye and tell me it's not funny as shit. (tho with the right skills you could easily make it out to be a tragic thing too, like the guy just keeps losing whatever he does even when he's trying his best.)
but on a more serious note because i feel like colonnello isn't taken seriously nearly often enough, but i really love how all of this shows just what kind of person he is and what kind of person he chooses to be and stay as over and over again. like he's just so optimistic and believing? not naive or unrealistic, but whenever he looks at the world dead-on and sees nothing worth hanging in there for, he just goes "alright, i'll just have to find it/make it for myself then". like, he could easily also have broke down after the curse like most of the others, but no, he was still breathing and alive, lal was still breathing and alive, and the curse wasn't going to kill them right away so you bet he kept smiling and resolved to find some joy in his life still, which unbeknownst to him gave lal just enough hope she didn't kill herself over the curse.
also he's just such a loving person at his core too? it's how he actually ended up becoming reborn's closest friend, whether they were actually childhood friends or it happened post-curse, and when he had to confront reborn's hitman side he probably just went something like "just don't kill me or the people i care about and i'm sure we can make this work". and of course how he tried to save lal from the curse, how he was there at all to begin with specifically so he could save her from it, and how he planned to get rid of her curse instead of his, and how he died saving viper in the future. and ginger bread taunted lal about it, calling him the failed hero or something like that iirc, but it's literally not about it, and colonnello in fact couldn't care less about being a hero or whatever. he just has his heart in the right place. and if it means dying so he can remain true to it, then sure, he'll die without hesitation, even if he'd rather not and it sucks that he has to.
it's just, like. i've said it before, but the whole curse thing happens to him because he's such a loving person. he was never going to let lal climb that mountain without him, but he could have. if he was just a little less loving, if he just loved a little less devotedly, he wouldn't have been on that mountain at all that day, and his life would still have turned shitty because lal would still have ended up cursed, but nothing would have happened to him. except, of course, he was never going to let lal climb that mountain without him.
and i just?? lose my mind a little over it tbh. and love him for it. i love him so much, is what this post is saying, and we don’t talk about him nearly often at all.
oh and ALSO!! i do mean he's just some guy, i'm not saying he's a normal guy at all. because he isn't lol. he's totally just as unhinged as the rest of the arco, and i mean, he did end up genuinely being reborn's friend one way or another, so there's clearly something wrong with him too lmao

Can you rank the parents of shatter me series? From best to worst. Please?
This is such a fun question. Let's go!
✨Best to Worst.✨ I'll only list the parents who have made an appearance. Lena might have a Dad, but we don't know that, so let's keep it simple. And this is just my opinion, feel free to pitch in your two cents if you have stuff to add or dispute.
(This got quite long, so I'll add a keep reading.)
I think the best parent of the Supremes is Castillo. (Nicolás and Valentina's father). We know barely anything about this man except that ✨he's from Argentina.✨ However, the reason I'm putting him on top is because Valentina is trans and considering how good of a transition she seem to have, he's definitely supportive. If he didn't like her being trans he probably could have wiped her brain over and over, erasing her identity; but he didn't! Gold star!
Next up is Omondi. (Stephan's father.) He's just here. We don't know anything about him. I guess he sent Stephan to England to receive an education, which is really weird because there are plenty of options in Africa that would also result in an English accent. (cough, Mafi why did you even have to do that??, cough). Thanks for coming Omondi. This is the point where we descend into the bad parents.
Third is Tatiana Mishkina. (Lena's mother.) Abuse-wise, she doesn't seem that bad. Lena has a scar on her leg, but we don't know where she got it. We don't hear anything about Lena's home life except that Tatiana and Anderson wanted Warner and Lena to get together. When they broke up I assumed she got upset because Lena was upset. The reason she's third is because she allows her daughter to be openly transphobic and that's not cool. You'd think she'd try to stay on good terms with Castillo, but she doesn't seem to care.
Now here's the thing. I was pending between putting Max and Muza third worst. Because in a way, Max revoked his parental rights as soon as Ella was sent away. After that his daughters became experiments. I don't think he sees himself as a parent anymore. Emma and Ella become tools for Evie, and he's there to support Evie. Muza on the other hand, is still actively raising his children, and that's almost worse in my mind. Like, if you're going to call yourself a parent, you need to step up. You have all the resources of Asia at your disposal, how is your son suicidal?! In the end I decide that Muza is better, because he at least cares for the (physical, not emotional) well-being of his children. He wants Nazeera and Haider to be returned safely to him. (Surely to wipe their minds afterward, but it's for their own good you know.) Then he shoots Nazeera's plane out of the sky, but you know she can fly so she was fine...! 😄
Max. I don't care if she killed your wife, you don't offer to pimp out your daughter, MAX.
Second to worst is Paris Anderson. I had to keep reminding myself that my fanfics aren't real. That, in canon, he was ready to drop a bomb on James, he beat the crap out of Adam as a child and he did, and does, all kinds of things to Warner. However, in a strange way, he believes what he's doing is what's best for Warner. He wants him to become a strong, ruthless leader that will rule the world once he steps down. He wants to see Warner have a life, succeed, and goes quite the lengths to assure his survival; unlike our last point on this list.
✨Evie Sommers. ✨ She created a pair of daughters for the sole purpose of using them to take over the world. They are tools to her, and they're not permitted to have control over their own lives. She turned Emma into a jellyfish. She let approved the plan of letting Anderson lock up Ella into an asylum. Then she tortured her. She even let them have a normal life beforehand, with pancakes, bikes and strawberry picking, which is almost worse imo! If you're going to do science on your kids, do it the Stranger Things way.
And that's all of them! I hope you enjoyed :)
Thank you so much for the ask~!

hello! i only just saw your reply and wanted to say that i agree with you about not entirely trusting King with topics like suicide especially not in a comic like his One Bad Day oneshot that is so edgy and focused on writing dark and violent scenes for pure shock value with no depth.
as for the last part of the rewrite ideas, i wanted to try and keep it brief, but it still ended up too long so i have to send the last two scenes separately again, sorry :
after Batman had talked with the mother (+ subsequent past flashback) , after he talked to the distressed widow of the civilian that died and after the flashback following that scene, we get the scene of Batman seeking out the father. that one i think can stay mostly the same, except that the father doesn't get framed as just a sad old man that tried his best but got punished with an evil demon as a son. maybe that is what he seems to be at first in the scene, since it is what he sees himself as and what he wants to be perceived as, but then reveals his vindictive side so it is shown that when he presented himself as a 'loving' father that just wanted the best for his child, that is something he convinced himself and everyone else of, but not the truth. that switch might happen because, after initially just talking about how well meaning of a father he was, wanting only the best for his son, the best education, pushing for academic success to feed his son's 'potential' and ensure a good future for him etc., he starts saying how that 'was all for nothing', how instead of a lauded academic his son became a 'carnival performer', dressing up in a ridiculous costume with a ridiculous persona, wasting his time and intellect with games, childish wordplays and excentric criminal plots that he doesn't even succeed at most of the time, 'completely embarassing himself' and, more importantly in his opinion, embarassing his father by association. at that point it becomes clear that he does not care about the victims at all, he doesn't even really care about the crimes, it is all about how he it makes him look if that is what his son is like and it too becomes clear that he would have hated Edward the same way even if he wasn't a criminal but just a harmless playful eccentric (he would probably be ableist about it too) because he never wanted a son, he only wanted a genius that he could show off. Of course he would never entertain the possibility that his own actions could have been a negative influence in any way so instead, showing how vindictive and bigoted he is, he blames it on Edward's mother, saying that he should have 'expected' the child to turn out 'wrong' when his mother was poor and had the job she had etc. Batman, a well written one at least, would not stand for that and cut him off in his angry insults and shifting of blame, making it clear that the things the father said are bigoted and wrong. the father might even say something about 'getting stuck with a child that was born evil' etc., which Bruce would shut down too, since it is dangerous bioessentialist drivel (as opposed to the original that implies that the father was right and Edward really was just a born evil sadist), that he was 'too soft' of a father and should have been even harsher in the punishment of his son. he might even put blame on Batman himself for 'not just killing Edward when he had the chance' etc., which in a meta sense would open the option to comment on Bruce's no-kill rule. Batman should be a protector of victims anyways, of any victims. He would not let someone say these things about someone that had no choice in a bad or complicated situation, like Ed's mother did, or let an abuser talk that way about his victim, even if that victim grew up to be a bad person, and he especially would not let anyone say that he should just kill the criminals and that death would be the best option for them. otherwise he is just some grimdark edgelord Punisher copy. either way, Batman has had enough of wasting time with him as it is ticking and he can't be sure that Edward won't kill someone else, since clearly something is wrong as random violence without any clues is not how his crimes usually go. So he asks one last question, if his father knows where Ed might be, to which the father, timid now, replies that he doesn't know and doesn't care since he hasn't spoken a word to his son in over 30 years, since back at the boarding school.
Now there is another flashback, the one with the scene in the empty office, showing just what effects his father's abuse had on Ed as a kid and that the whole 'born evil' thing can not be true, just in case anyone still had doubts about that. after that, back in the present, it is the morning of the next day. Bruce had been spending his night researching the boarding school and decided that the next person he should talk to for more clues on Edward's whereabouts is his old teacher (who in this version did not get brutally murdered by a 14 year old Ed because that was weird and edgy). but before he goes to talk to the teacher, Bruce attends the funeral of the civilian, where he again meets the widow, like in the original comic. i don't really remember what they talked about during the cemetary scene in the original so it is probably fine to keep most of it? it would have to be something about how the GCPD and media (and in this widow's opinion also Batman) treats the victims as pawns in a game that the rogues are playing and not like real people that had families, now with added commentary about how Batman does or should care about the victims first and foremost. maybe some discussion about the no-kill rule again, too, this time the argument for it coming from a place of grief instead of prejudice, so Bruce would defend his choice not to kill from a more nuanced standpoint, to drive the point about it being the right choice home even more from a metanarrative point of view. the scene could end with the widow, after giving Bruce's explanation some consideration, admitting that he is right that killing the criminals is just vengeance and not a solution either, but as she walks away from him she says something like "I just hope he [Batman] knows this is not a game.." ? after that another past flashback, this time kid Ed having gone back to obeying his father, who treats him even worse now that his grades had slipped and barely even acknowledges his son's existence anymore. he is trying to be his father's perfect academic emotionless genius again but finds that he can't fully go back to that, even if he forces himself to, as some part of him does miss the games and riddles and fun, desperately so, and it might even include a nod to his ocd by showing him develop those self soothing rituals and compulsions?
this is long again , unfortunately longer than i thought it would, so the last scenes will be separate again but i am curious about your thoughts on this part and how to deal with Bruce's talk with the father; this is fun and thanks for your patience
Sorry. I read your post yesterday but I wasn't in right headspace to answer it (or do much of anything rly) but I took my meds, slepped a lot, baby talked with my aunts fish and am a-okay now.
About the re-write itself. I really loved it and specially how the whole idea that super-heros are supposed to inspire the best in people shinne through. Bruce can be a person with flaws without this being that he isn't Punisher like enough and doesn't believe in bioessexialism bs. I also preffer this version where the encounter with the dad lead to nothing. How he alienated himself so much with his prejudice that even though it appeared he would be the key for Edward's actions he just can't truly offer anything to Bruce.
Edward not killing his teacher as 14 it's such a improvement. I do find a little funny that the little nerd with noodle arms killed a whole adult by punching him really hard. It's not the wort part of that scene whatsoever but it still breaks the ilusion of realism that they used to justify the grimdark (a thing that had happened a lot on the present already but not in the past), they could made so he used a blunt object (that wasn't a basketball), maybe change to a basebol field and make he use the bat. It would still be a ridiculous scene that come sort of nowhere for extra edgyness but at least it wouldn't completly break the only defend the OCCness had sorta going for them. That's to say I'm glad the teacher is alive.
Also don't thank me for my patience. I looove this asks. It's not a hardship at all. I that should be thanking you for sharing your wonderfull ideas.
Answering your question I think I would start the talk the same way: with the dad waiting with a gun (that in the comic was used for us to pity him?) paranoic that Edward will come and kill him and ready to kill Riddler first. When he sees is only Batman he calms a bit and goes "I was asking when you would come" so he starts telling about himself about how he was a loving father that saw how much potential his son had and did all he could, sacrificed it all for his son to suceed but unfortunally his son wasted it by dressing like a "carnival attraction" and going around playing games, that he is an embarassement to himself and to his father, I think I would use this scene as a contrast with the widow scene and how HE sees the senseless violence and murder in Gotham as a game maybe have him coment than even worst Edward was losing. He couldn't even be a winner in his new occupation. It's all about his image. Than when Batman goes "you know that what his son is doing isn't a game right" he goes dismissive and says something like "sure for us normal people but from someone born like him being a good criminal it's the best I could expect, at least than I would be the father of Boonie and Clyde or of Jack the Rippler or the antichrist or the Joker but no even in his evil he chooses to be pathetic" wich breaks any ilusion he might ever bejnf a good guy so Batman - rembering Edward's question to his mom on this rewrite verse - while visibly angry tries to calm down and asks what does he means with "Born like him" and the father goes "Evil. I should have expected surely with a mother of that stirpe. Maybe than I wouldn't have been so soft. Maybe I could've truly beat the evil out of him?" Maybe even add that he should just killed the baby and Bruce says that people aren't born evil that this is buoessebcialism pseudoscience and if this is what he believes it surely explains why he is alone and scared in an empty room waiting to confront a son that will never come back even for vegeance and the dad reacts to the world by saying that of course Batman would think like this since Batman is weak and just as crazy as the rest and that if he was trully a hero he would have killed Edward when he had the chance "and the rest of those masked weirdos to bolt" Batman just looks at him and says something about how the man just doesn't truly knows anything helpfull and is just too full of hate to realize that this is driving him to misery (maybe a hint that this could have been Batman if he decided that the death of his parents meant that rehabilitation wasn't possible and didn't had Alfred guiding him and later the robins). The man says "you are wrong" and Batman goes "do you have anything to say about where Riddler is or what he is planning?" and the guy admitis he doesn't and Bruce says "then I was right."

Ooh, this is another one I have to thank @tomwambsgoose for. It's an almost scene-for-scene retelling of Romeo and Juliet, inspired by the Baz Luhrmann movie. Except, it's set in the modern day, and instead of Capulets and Montagues it's Waystar Royco and Maesbury Capital. Logan runs Waystar, with the plan being for Kendall (Juliet) to succeed him, and also he really wants Kendall to get married, ideally to Matsson (Paris) because it would strengthen the alliance between Waystar and GoJo. Tom (Romeo) works for Maesbury Capital, as does Shiv (Benvolio) and Roman (Mercutio); they decide to gatecrash the Waystar Christmas costume party. (Shiv and Roman are still Roy siblings - their going to work for Maesbury has caused a significant rift in the family). Tom and Kendall meet and fall madly in love, before discovering that they each work for the rival companies. Kendall confides in Connor (the nurse), and they all start conspiring to get them together; Tom goes to his friend Greg, who is a priest who runs a side business selling weed (Friar Laurence), and asks for his help. Greg marries them in secret, but on the way back from the wedding, there's an altercation in the street. Roman and Stewy (Tybalt) are killed, and Tom is forced to flee. Logan tells Kendall that he has to marry Matsson. Greg comes up with The Plan, where Kendall's going to fake his death; he goes to email Tom but there's a massive blackout in the power grid and he isn't able to get ahold of him. Tom shows up at the grave, kills Matsson, thinks Kendall is dead, poisons himself, and then Kendall wakes up and stabs himself. The tragedy of this finally heals the rift between Waystar and Maesbury, as well as the rift in the Roy family.
Snippet below the readmore of Kendall and Tom meeting at the party (this one is very much a first draft snippet, so if this gets posted it might look a little different in the end, lol):
It's bold, he knows it's bold - bolder than he'd usually be - but he can't help but take the hand of the man standing in front of him. Maybe it's the masks, and the fact that he can't see the man's face, or maybe it's the pre-party drinks in his system, or maybe -
... Could it be? Could it be that fleeting thing he's always chasing, that elusive joy?
Is it love?
The man looks at him, expectantly. Curiously. The two of them are frozen there, and suddenly Tom feels pressure to say something, anything, crash down over him.
"Your hand-" His voice comes out raspy. He clears his throat and tries again. "Your hand... is - like a temple."
The man blinks. "...What?"
"Um." Tom laughs, nervously. It does not break the tension. "I just - it's like a temple, because, well, I- my hands are not worthy to, uh, to visit." He finishes weakly, realizing that this might be the single worst pickup line he's ever come up with. That anyone's ever come up with.
The man blinks, and says nothing. But - he doesn't take his hand away, and Tom summons one last wave of courage to try again.
"But, you know, if you're offended..." He chokes a little on the line, and then blurts out: "My lips are right here."
It's at this point that the man starts laughing, wheezing laughs. Tom tries to snatch his hand away, tries to apologize and flee, but before he can, the man says:
"Well, dude, if you want my honest opinion, I think you're selling your hands kind of short. Besides, I've never been to a temple but, uh, I've been to cathedrals, and pilgrims touch the hands of statues all the time." He strokes the back of Tom's hand with his thumb, and then shifts, so it's no longer Tom taking his hand but the two of them holding hands, palm to palm, and Tom feels his breath hitch.
"Oh," he says, and then tries to cover for the moment of softness - "What, do they not have any lips to kiss with?"
"They have lips to pray with." An eyebrow quirks up behind the mask.
"Well," says Tom, as his heart pounds and he feels like his blood is on fire, "Maybe we should let our lips do what hands do. You know, so they can join the prayer."
The man squeezes his hand. There's a pause. Then: "What are you praying for?"
It's a moment that feels so unbelievably sublime, it's almost unreal. For a split second, his awareness of the party around him falls away, and it's just him and this man and the desire building rapidly in his chest.
"I'll show you," he says, and leans down to kiss him.
