One thing that I will never get over was the influx of people in the Sims community who actively rallyed against disabilities being included in the sims because it was "too sad"

Yes!! Let's talk ab Phillippa! She used to be my favourite sorceress when i read the books for the 1st time (mostly bc my teenage self didn't know a lot of wlw rep oof). She obv suffers somewhat from written-by-a-cishet-dude syndrome, but i like her villainy the most from the saga. I like her contrast with Yen (they are both considered talented but bitchy cold-hearted etc but Yen cares about her family and that influences her and the way she achieves her goals while Phil is the end justifies the means type) and with Vilgefortz (they want same thing from Ciri but Phil thinks she wants it for less selfishness more greater good type of reasons (still not valid) while Vilgefortz is open about doing this for himself. Also she's the evil mastermind Vilgefortz wishes he was! He's just evil, sitting in his evil castle sending around goddamn Rince out of all people, getting results more by luck than judgment...). She's Magnificent Bastard and i really hope they wont ruin her in twn by shrinking down her role or by making her SuperEvil like they did Fringilla 😔 she's cunning and power-hungry enough on her own, no need to add extra layer of immorality bc someone could forget she's a villain here. 🦇 (sorry it's 3am here and i... also want more Philippa content that's something more than people calling her a c*nt)
this ask is SO blessed i started happy stimming gfgsdfksj
yes!!!!!!!!!!! philippa to me is a really interesting character (even though she suffers from being written by a man as all the female characters in the witcher do) but she as a villain is severely overlooked. and she’s only ever addressed by the fandom in the manner that she is either a neutral character or a protagonist, which annoys me a lot, perhaps more than i tend to show, because as you said she’s really the mastermind vilgefortz fucking wishes he was.
i love how competent the lodge seems to be, they hold meetings and discuss complicated lineage and have a whole plan marked out with spies (fringilla) and international participation. of course, things go haywire in the end, because philippa and the other sorceresses are unwilling to admit that sometimes there are things in life one is not able to exert control over, that nature is just too random to rule over, because to them, that would be a defeatist’s perspective... but they had a plan, at least, they were organized and led in a semi-democratic manner with of course philippa leading, but holding meetings in which everyone was allowed to voice their opinion and argue. it’s so much more fleshed out than vilgefortz, who was just evil for power but really vague about it and seemed to just be that kind of over-the-top tropey villain.
i think your comparison with her to yennefer is spot-on, they both are painted as power hungry and selfish... i love that philippa is hungry for power and ambitious in politics, and yennefer doesn’t really care about politics and has always just done her own thing. their contrast also comes in what you describe, why they feel that their goals are justified. the montecalvo scene grew on me a lot especially after i listened to the audiobook version of it, because it really portrays philippa and yennefer as opposing forces.
i guess some might take issue with the fact that philippa is gay because she’s evil in the series, especially because her whole deal is that she is willing to sacrifice the life (freedom) of a child (ciri) for political stability, as opposed to yennefer, who wants to protect her child (and husband), so it might be seen as “lesbians want to destroy the sanctity of marriage and hate children!” ... but i don’t think this was the message, to me i don’t think representation mattered sort of at all to sapkowski, so i personally don’t think of philippa as representing lesbians as a whole, i think she is just gay and that’s a coincidence. she’s not meant to be good representation anyways so it’s not a big deal to me.
and on that note, philippa as a villain was a really nice statement to me ... i mean, because usually i feel that it is the guys being evil. and there are of course the male villains of vilgefortz, bonhart, rience, emhyr, the aen elle if elves have gender, etc. etc, but philippa is a special case because she’s competent and also as a character she isn’t bogged down by “feminine issues” in her evil ... such as that one might expect a woman to be more empathetic towards a child, etc. i think it was actually kind of humanizing because it demonstrates that anyone has the ability to commit evil actions.
but in the fandom the content i see for her is either just ship (nothing horribly wrong with it, just that it’s bland and doesn’t take her character and character motivations into account at all) or fluff which outright ignores her character traits and placement within the narrative and relationships to other characters. i suppose this is somewhat the fault of tw3 for declawing her so to speak, but it’s really annoying because it’s pretty much the only philippa content that exists. like, where is the appreciation of her as a villain, a really good and smart one at that?
and yeah, for twn, i don’t think they even casted her yet, even though they’re doing blood of elves, where she makes her character debut... yet they casted for fringilla and francesca, so i have no idea what’s going on. i think they might be replacing her with someone else (tissaia? or that new violet OC they have? or vanessa-marie OC? idk). so as always i have little faith in them but i’m sure they’ll find a way to butcher her character somehow ...
it’s just that philippa is such a specific and kind of nuanced character, she’s really not basic in any kind of way unlike the other villains of the series kind of are. and it’s interesting to me but no one ever seems to approach her with this intent to analyze her, they only care about her appearance, romantic potential, or the fact that she got her eyes cut out in tw2 or killed radovid in tw3.
like ok, but can we first talk about how she basically ruled redania by controlling the puppet king vizimir (even though she would never admit it and told tissaia she was lying when she called her out on it (iirc))? that’s kind of insane and demonstrates the political power mages can have in this fictional setting. and that statement tissaia makes to her in time of contempt, that she was once so proud of her as a student, but now she has nothing but contempt for her... i want to see that explored. philippa is kind of a takedown of the #girlboss trope as well and i like that

ang0mang0′s “copycat” claims
I didn’t want to have to make another post about this, but since people on sonicfan799 / thatAnge / @ang0mang0′s Tumblr profile are getting riled up about this ridiculous drama that should have died ages ago, I figured I’d defend myself. Some people who are trying to support me have been saying incorrect things too, so I also wanted to clear that up. This crap has been going on for months, everyone is sick of it by now. Instead of being brief like I did for other social medias, I’ll be as detailed as possible this time.
[1] “she’s copying/imitating/heavily referencing from my art style!!!”
Like people have said a million times, no I’m not. And nor is anyone else. Just because someone draws the Sonic characters in a similar style to you does not automatically mean they took, copied or “stole” those ideas from you. You don’t own the concept of buff, fluffy bodies or chubby muzzles. COINCIDENCE, as much as you hopelessly deny it, is very much a possible thing- even in crazy situations such as this. There are several other artists who have similar art styles by mere coincidence. IT IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE. As examples, these Instagram artists have similar styles: @ azulytoons and @ indigonite0 / @ magenta_mel and @ zer0finix / @ himemikal and @ natirix. NONE of these artists are “stealing” or referencing from each other- they just have similar art styles, and that is perfectly okay! They draw completely different things with completely different mindsets. The world does not revolve around you, ang0. Not everyone knows who you are, so some people who use the same traits that we do don’t even know we exist.
Also, to anyone unaware, an art STYLE is not merely how one chooses to portray a character. An art STYLE is also what brushes you use, how you sketch, how you line, how you colour, how you shade, how you choose to portray certain objects or ideas- basically your entire fucking understanding of how something’s supposed to look and how you LIKE it to look. It’s not just “chubby faces, poofy curly hair, buff bodies”. It’s everything in a piece AND that.
[2] “she’s tracing my art/ redrawing my ideas!”
Literally no. People have constantly asked you to provide evidence and you refused to. All you did was scream “but it’s so obvious, just look at it!” or “are you dumb? use your eyes!” and several other insults. If you want to prove a point or make someone see something, GIVE. EVIDENCE. The only person who actually provided “proof” was pin_kpeach, your ever so loyal whiteknight, but her “proof” only backfired and proved that the both of you are extremely delusional. In the drawings of ours that she layered over each other, next to NONE of the lines lined up. It looked like a clustered mess of scrap, and the reason for that is because IT WASN’T TRACED. In the one or two drawings where ONE. SINGLE. PIECE. actually lined up was entirely zoomed in to make it seem as though the whole thing was traced. No, honey, that’s not how you provide proof. That’s how you pull a muscle by reaching so desperately to lie about me. The rest of the drawings in those pictures didn’t line up at all, and one- or I believe both- needed to be titled to line them up in the first place. You could say that some people trace things and resize or rotate them, but if I were as dumb as you persist to say, then I wouldn’t have done something like that. Either way, one aspect of a drawing lining up is a common thing for people who have similar styles because- well, I just said it. THEY HAVE SIMILAR STYLES. If they draw something the same way, well fucking duh, it’ll match someone else’s drawing almost exactly sometimes.
[3] “she’s too petty and too much of a liar to credit me! saying the art isn’t hers will hurt her oversized ego!”
Ahaha no. The only one here with an inflated ego is you, ang0. You call me the egotistical one yet you act as though your life is falling apart just because someone else draws like you on the internet. Stop acting like a special snowflake, you are not the only one on this planet with an art style of that nature. I don’t credit you because crediting you makes no damn sense. Why should I credit someone who’s had absolutely no impact on my work whatsoever? What in the hell did you do for my drawings that makes you deserve so much credit? Did you sketch it? No. Did you line it? Nope. Did you colour or shade it? Not a chance. Just because I came up with a design for the characters that happens to look like yours does not mean I owe you jack shit. You cannot. own. a style. Get over it.
[4] “she worsened my depression and is the reason I can’t draw anymore! I have no motivation when there’s some idiot copycat stealing all my art!”
I don’t want to sound like that kind of person, but you worsened your own depression. You painted this false picture in your head and continue to hang onto that belief like your life depends on it. I haven’t done ANYthing to you. You came to ME with these stupid claims back when my art looked LESS like yours, before I even knew who you were. You’re making yourself feel horrible because you, for some paranormal reason, refuse to believe that you’re not the only one with that kind of style. This is why people call you childish, you’re like a whiny baby that can’t accept another child having a toy similar to yours. I can’t even decide whether I should say “grow up” because you’re older than me- not to mention you’re an ADULT.
[5]”she constantly sends her whiteknights to attack me, harass me and send me threatening messages!”
I’ve said several times to my followers NOT to harass you or your followers or anyone against me in this mess at all. I do not send anyone after you. People say things to you out of their own free will and with their own words. I can’t magically know when this happens, why they decide to and I especially can’t control anyone. I’m sorry that my friend Koro sent you all those DMs and horrible messages wishing a lot of very bad things onto you and your family- I asked her several times before and after not to do that, but I didn’t have a clue she did it until after the fact. Either way, don’t go around assuming that I put people up to this or I intentionally ask people to do these things to you. Why in the hell would I do that? What good does that do? All I wanted to do was talk things out but at this point, you don’t even take me seriously, so I can’t even try anymore. The few times we did talk you refuse to see my point of view and just see me as a liar. What the hell am I supposed to do then?
[6]”all vio does is lie, she’s so fake all the time, lying for her petty ego”
I’m not even sure how to respond to this but I thought I might as well bring it up. No matter what I do or say, ang0 sees me as nothing but some retarded liar that can’t help but lie their way around everything, even though I’ve been nothing but genuine all this time. It’s why I can’t even communicate with her anymore, because “shut up, stop lying you copycat” is all I get in response basically.
[7] her insane hypocrisy
Ange and pin_kpeach have said numerous times that I’m rude or insult her, and there have been times where I’ve been mean out of anger, but I know for a fact I apologized for it in DMs. Ange apologized too. I don’t remember ever insulting her after that, but ang0 doesn’t ever stop ridiculing and insulting me with almost every comment she makes on the drama. If she really was sorry, she wouldn’t have done it again, but I guess she said “fuck it” and just continued anyway. Pin_kpeach likes to say I’M the hypocrite for saying Ange is harassing me yet being rude to her a couple times, yet they do they exact same thing, but even worse?? I try my best to be as civil as possible, but ang0 and pink don’t waste a second calling me and my supporters all sorts of colourful names just because they don’t agree with her claims. In fact, here’s a list of every single thing ang0’s ever called me:
retarded, retard, stupid, idiot, dumb, low IQ, mentally ill, crazy, talentless, skill-less, copycat, art thief, (dumb) cow, fuckhole, asshole, bitch, wanna-be artist, unreasonable, clown, fake, liar, hypocrite, delusional, dick, stalker, bittershitter, dumbass, immature
There’s probably more than that, but that’s as much as I can remember. Not hard to forget when she repeats them almost all the time.
[8] gatekeeping ideas
Ange and pink act as if two people drawing a character in the same outfit automatically equals “du bist kopying mein style!!”. I can’t even begin to imagine the mental gymnastics you need to do in order to believe a thought process like that is logical. She thinks that anyone who draws Amy in a dress with a white under-skirt or white ruffles underneath is nothing but a copied idea from her. She thinks that me drawing Amy in a green tank top, blue backwards cap and blue sports shorts is copying her drawing of Amy in a green unidentifiable top (you could only see her back, she didn’t seem to have straps) and blue sports shorts with a slightly different design is automatically copied from her. The poses, shading, angle and idea behind the drawing were COMPLETELY different- but nonono, “this is stolen because the outfit is the same!” They also use the excuse of the whole chubby faces, curly hair, blah blah blah- see point [1] as to why that’s BS.
[9] her perception of my followers/supporters
Aside from Koro, I don’t know if anyone has seriously threatened or harassed her. Her followers comment on my posts, my followers only comment when she brings up the drama or whines about it. She insults my supporters when they don’t agree with her and act like they’re a bunch of immature brats who are wrong while she’s the high and mighty mature one seeing through non-existent lies. I’m used to her making fun of me, but I’m sick and tired of her insulting people who have nothing to do with the drama just because they don’t agree with her. Like, seriously? You call everyone immature and stupid yet you’re the one insulting people non-stop just because they realize how ridiculous and childish you’re acting. That’s why “childish” has become a popular adjective for you, ang0. BECAUSE YOU’RE BEING CHILDISH. CONSTANTLY. You get pissy, insult others and put people down but whine and cry the next minute because you constantly like to play the victim. Speaking of which...
[10] the victim card
I have absolutely no idea what ang0 goes through in real life, but there is no excuse for how she’s behaved during this drama AT ALL. Ange constantly defames her own artwork, calling it shit, calling it every bad name in the book, but doesn’t hesitate for a minute to gatekeep her style as if it was the best thing in the world. She says it’s because she “worked her ass off” and doesn’t want people just stealing her hard work. Okay, but you do realize that other people put just as much work into their own art, no matter if it looks like yours or not, right? She demands that people change their style to stop looking like hers, acting as if that can be done in a matter of minutes, because people having similar styles makes her uncomfortable. Well, surprise motherfucker- welcome to the internet. No one is original and everyone is original at the same time. People are bound to come up with similar ideas and you’re just going to have to deal with it. But despite the similarities, people are still original in their own right. If you believe that people can change a style so easily, why not just change your OWN style? Because you worked your ass off? Well, THEY WORKED THEIR ASS OFF TOO. So don’t act like you’re the only one who’s put effort into their craft. Art is hard, and that applies to EVERYONE- even professionals.
You blame me and other “copycats” for all your problems, blaming us for worsening your depression, ruining your passion for art- when you’re the only one who does this to yourself. Yes, there have been genuine art thieves in your life, and people who have stolen your art- but what I’m talking about are the people like me who DON’T steal your art or are merely inspired by you. People who say “you should be happy they’re inspired!” aren’t saying “you should be happy they’re copying!”. They’re saying that you should be glad that your work is so inspiring that people create their own unique ideas based off your own. Inspiration doesn’t require credit unless they’re purposefully taking a massive part of the original. But being inspired by a hair style or even a pose isn’t stealing. It’s inspiration, that’s it. I’m not inspired by you at all, but I can at least appreciate your art- even if you think I’m just being fake.
[11] ang0mang0′s history and why this shit doesn’t even make sense
Ange has said publicly and to me in detail about how she’s been accused of the same “art style theft” in the past. From what I’ve gathered or heard, people used to accuse her of copying a popular artist called myly14 who’s Sonic art is pretty much everywhere. Whether it be in edits, MVs or whatever else.  Looking at her old art when she went under the name sonicfan799, her art does look similar to myly’s, but ang0 insisted that she didn’t copy myly and didn’t even know who she was. She legit said “it’s not my fault my art looks like someone else’s”, so basically- it was coincidence. She said she changed her art style because she “isn’t an asshole and didn’t want to make the other artist uncomfortable”, even though art style theft isn’t a thing and no one needs to be forced out of a style just because someone else already draws that way. I have no idea what myly’s stance on that situation was, but the fact that it happened just proves how stupid her current claims are.
Ange says that her style is “too complex” to be coincidentally similar to someone else’s, even though the fact that it’s happened 30 times (according to her) just proves that no, ang0, no it fucking isn’t. Your style isn’t complicated at all. Detailed sure, but no style is too complicated to be similar to another’s. Being complex doesn’t make something any less likely to be identical to another complex style. If you didn’t copy myly14 in the past, what right do you have to accuse me of the same damn thing? If I really am copying you, then you have to admit to copying myly, because you can’t just lie about your past and then shit on me for doing the same thing. So it’s either you stop this nonsense or you drag this drama down with you to your grave and admit you copied myly14.
Another thing, myly14 didn’t even have a “simple” style. The fact that her art was almost instantly recognizable and popular meant that she had a signature style that stood out. Yes, she used a lot of the original Sonic style’s anatomy, but her stylization of said anatomy, her shading and the way she composed her pieces gave her a signature style. The most stylized thing I could see was how she drew muzzles, and guess who drew muzzles in a similar way as well? You did. People saw how your way of drawing faces and some parts of the body and thought it looked liked myly’s. The similarities in your anatomy, and not your shading or colouring, was what made people think you copied her. That exact same thing is happening between me and you. My shading, colouring and composition is entirely different from yours, but some parts of the anatomy are similar.
If you really didn’t copy myly14, you have absolutely no. fucking. excuse. to accuse me of the EXACT. SAME. SHIT. that happened to you.
You never needed or deserved to be pressured out of your old style just because people thought it looked similar to someone else’s, and that’s why I refuse to change my style now. Because it isn’t. fucking. fair. To ANYONE.
[12] how I feel (this is copied over from my DeviantART)
At this point I've grown used to what she has to say, but it still hurts. She thinks that I'm some kind of cartoon villain maniacally laughing behind a computer screen every time I post something because she's so deep into her belief that I really copy everything she draws and that nothing I've never posted has any true effort put into it. She genuinely believes she owns all my art and that I devote my entire gallery into recreating her image or some crazy shit like that. It sounds really dumb, but from what I've read from her poorly constructed comments and rants, that's basically what she believes.
She thinks I don't care at all about how all this affects her or anyone at all, but I do. It doesn't just hurt me in the sense that she makes me feel awful with all her insults, but I just feel so bad for her. I feel guilty in the sense that I couldn't do anything at all to help her, not that "shes prolly feeling guilty and made that april fools joke to let out some guilt!!". (If you don’t know, on April Fools Day, I changed my Instagram bio to say “clown” and call myself “the ultimate copycat” as a joke.) That was a really stupid reaction from her by the way... who the hell comes up with that? Now that she's going away for a month, I feel even worse because all I wanted to do was try to make her come to her senses and end this mess. I thought I could talk some sense into her- that didn't work. Her delusions are so strong, she's like a brick wall. I thought I could ignore the drama- that didn't work. She "clowns" and talks about it so annoyingly often. Not to mention people do things on their own to stir shit up. I thought I could support her regardless and maybe try making her feel better about her art- that didn't work. She thinks I'm fake and that everything I say is a lie. Because of me, she probably doesn't believe other people too- and that makes me feel even more terrible.
No matter what I do, I'm automatically the villain and she's the tortured, helpless artist that everyone is against because "everyone is dumb, supporting a copycat" and she's just "used to it, because she's dealt with so much shit already!". It's so ridiculous. If she would just try to actually better herself or the situation, she wouldn't feel so horrible all the time. Like... for god's sake, she relied on a video game to make her happy- that's not healthy, and just like I suspected, it didn't fucking work.
more of how I feel
Because of ang0, I just feel like garbage. My self esteem and confidence in my art was already low. Thanks to her, I don’t feel original (or as original) anymore- and I’m afraid to show many of my new or old ideas because she or her whiteknight pin_kpeach may spring out and say “copycat! stolen! you’re not original!” and a plethora of other insults. I can barely sketch or draw Sonic content without panicking and feeling worthless because all I have is her words and her opinions stuck in my head. She blames me for her demotivation and shit like that when she’s done the same thing to me. She thinks I don’t care about her or her art, when I do, but when I say that, she calls me fake. In reality, ang0 couldn’t give a damn about me and I’m pretty sure she’d be happy if I were dead. She has said before that she doesn’t care if I killed myself soo... there’s that. Anyway lemme not drag my feelings out too long, I just thought I’d say it to anyone willing to listen since her immediate response would’ve been “fake, liar” etc, etc. I really don’t want anyone to feel bad for me or anything like that, I just want people to listen and understand. That’s all.
a final note
I’m really thankful- like, REALLY thankful- for everyone who’s been on my side throughout this. I don’t like picking sides, and I’d hate to make people do so, but there doesn’t seem to be any in between to this at all. It’s either you believe I’m copying her or you don’t.  Most people don’t- thank goodness for that- but some do. And there’s nothing I can do about it. At this point, whatever man.
Please please PLEASE do not harass ang0. Don’t threaten her, don’t insult her, don’t do anything rash or fucking illegal. It’s all fair game if you want to POLITELY SPEAK to her, or try to start a discussion, but please don’t do anything stupid. And especially don’t do things in my name. If you want to debate with me or her, do research first- don’t just jump to conclusions or make assumptions. If you want nothing to do with this drama, then simply don’t say anything- just be aware of what’s going on, that’s all I ask. So nobody gets the wrong idea on either side.
Sorry for this being so long, I think I’m done for now.
Thank you if you read the whole thing.

wandavision theories for ep 8 | contains spoilers
Obligatory disclaimer, these are my opinion + thoughts, and ideas, take all u see here with a grain of salt as of course, these are just theories. Now, shall we?
I’m writing this at 7:30am on Friday 26th, it’s taking all my self control to actually write this down before I go watch the episode.
Tumblr media
Let me start this by saying that ever since this show started I’ve looked like this every single week, until the next episode, and then the cycle just starts over. I’ve seen the promos and the trailers in like 0.25x so many times.
Agatha/Agnes
Tumblr media
I called it from before the show’s start and the fact that it was so obvious makes me think she’s not really the main but more like a pawn that’s serving a supervillain if that makes sense.
On episode 1, there was the June 2nd line and then the “Charmed” thing that confirmed it for me.
I think that she’s either
possessed
just crazy
I’m leaning a bit more towards the crazy part, she’s been an instigator throughout the whole show and seems to be doing it and enjoying it (ie agatha all along)
basically put the idea of having kids in Wanda’s head
instigated Vision’s doubts which then ultimately made him realize something was wrong
she literally gave him the last push for him to try to go outside the hec which might have killed him
she killed Sparky
brought Peter from (according to me) Fox’s universe as a stand in for Pietro bc he’s dead…
From the couple of promos and leaked images for ep 8, I think she’s gonna show Wanda her past which I think is tied to Mephisto because let’s be honest, how does a witch have powers comparable to those of someone who basically was exposed to an infinity stone. The amount of demonic symbolism in her secret lair was a lot, the cicadas, señor scratchy, what looks to be the darkhold.
I also think she’s the one that manipulated Wanda into creating the hex, seeing as her creepy basement is apparently outside of it. She manipulated her into having kids, we’ve seen that every time the twins are about to age up, she’s there. She didn’t even blink to Wanda having powers. That’s why I think she killed Sparky, because for some reason she wants to age the twins into teenagers to serve her purpose.
But why?
Does she want to bring someone back from the dead? Or does she want to manipulate Wanda into opening the multiverse because she knows she’s a Nexus being? Is she using her to bring Mephisto into the MCU world in a physical form?
Peter
Tumblr media
I’m sure he’s just Peter from X-Men who Agatha pulled into the MCU as a stand-in for Pietro.
I think when Wanda yeeted him in the halloween episode, he got snapped out of Agatha’s control and we might see him team up with Monica to help Wanda and the residents of Westview.
I think he might stay in the MCU and be in Dr. Strange the multiverse of madness, and then we’d see him return to Fox
Monica
Tumblr media
Not sure what name she’ll go with, Photon, Spectrum or even Captain Marvel 🤷🏼‍♀️
I do think she’ll take over as Director of S.WORD since I’m 99.9% sure Hayward broke the Sokovia Accords (and Vision’s will)
Hopefully we see more of her and why she’s so mad at Carol
Dottie
Tumblr media
I have the feeling that there’s a lot more to her, but I’m on a time crunch and really want to go watch ep 8 so I'll just say that she’s either Arcanna Jones or Clea and I’ll be disappointed if she turns out to just be Dottie.
Also, she’s not on the board so I have my doubts about her.
Hayward
I’ve hated since I first saw him
I’m 99.9% sure he was experimenting on Vision trying to bring him back online which is a breach of the Accords, but he couldn’t and then saw that Wanda had breathing, living version of Vision and became hellbent on getting him, that’s why he’s vilifying Wanda so he can put the blame on her.
Vision
This one’s a bit tricky, because I have my doubts about him being Old Vision, but I really liked him throughout the show and it sucks that he’ll probably die at the end.
Theory 1:
He can’t leave the Hex, which makes me think he was created by Wanda, I mean after all she can manipulate things to a molecular level and could’ve given him the same traits as Old Vision, that’s why he has the stone and can’t really remember anything from before Westview, because he didn’t exist but still exhibits his selfless behavior (i.e doesn’t even remember being an avenger yet he wanted to help and then when he was dying outside the hex, he asked for help for the people and not for himself even though he was disintegrating)
Tumblr media
This scene from one of the promos where Wanda’s still wearing modern day clothes and then she’s wearing the outfit from the first episode, and Vision’s like “Wanda?”. I think that’s where she created him, and gave him some basic memories to start from.
Here, where she’s looking at the stone, in another promo I believe, I think it’s that she’s “destroying” the stone which will inevitably kill vision.
Tumblr media
Or when she has to inevitably bring  down the Hex, he’s gonna die, again. The only plot hole to this theory would be, how is Hayward able to track him? Is he tracking the Vibranium signature only?
That scene where Wanda’s at S.W.O.R.D and she’s recovering his body, makes sense that maybe she made Westview Vision from Old Vision’s scraps, but he was completely disarmed and taken apart, how could she have done that? She would have had to completely put him together (which shouldn’t be hard considering her powers) but I’m guessing he wasn’t Vision anymore, they were turning him into something else.
Theory 2:
I remember reading in October, that White Vision could make an appearance which kinda makes sense? After all, he was killed and taken apart by a spy agency which could be S.W.O.R.D as it is now a “Sentient Weapon Observation Response Division” that is very specifically focusing on robotics and A.I. This could be what Hayward mentioned that he intends on launching on episode 7. Considering there’s only 2 episodes left, this seems like a lot to include with so little time left. But the possibilities are endless, it is Marvel we’re talking about.
Either way I think he’s gonna die and we’re all gonna cry. His death might be what pushes Wanda over the edge and into insanity, if even when she was living a normal, happy life she was pushing her grief onto those she was controlling, what would it be like when she has to let go of this? Heartbreaking, that’s for sure.
Billy & Tommy
Tumblr media
I think they’re somehow fully real, made from who knows what but real
I don’t think Agatha killed him, but she might have aged them as that seems to have been her goal (it also makes them the right age for the young avengers set up they seem to be going for)
Perhaps, instead of living with Wanda, once the Hex goes down they’re forgotten? Like when, in the comics, Agatha wiped them from Wanda's mind.
I read a theory that the missing person Jimmy was looking for at the beginning was Teddy Altman who ends up being Billy’s husband in the comics, so that’d be cool.
Wanda
Poor Wanda has been manipulated this whole time.
Going with my theory that Vision’s body was completely torn apart when she got to S.W.O.R.D, I don’t think she could take it with her like that, that’s why I think Hayward is so obsessed with finding the Vision that she has alive inside the Hex.
I feel she was manipulated by Agatha all along, Westview might’ve just been the first town she found as soon as she left S.W.O.R.D where Agatha manipulated her into creating the Hex. This whole time she thought she was in control, it was Agatha behind the scenes controlling everything. Jimmy mentioned that she was displaying an amount of powers that far exceeded anything she’d displayed before and I think her crumbling mental stability, along with the fact that Vision almost died at the end of episode 6 (or he did actually die idk) could be what’s causing the Hex to start glitching and failing.
Tumblr media
There’s a scene from one of the promos, and honestly it was hard to find, but we can see her in the town surrounded by all of Westview’s residents who look like they’re begging her for something (Phil). Maybe she couldn’t keep her control over them or once Agatha showed her the truth, she decided to free their minds.
Tumblr media
and this scene where she holds hands with Vision while wearing modern clothes, I think it might be one of their last scenes together.
My working theory for Wanda is:
She realizes she’s been manipulated and how wrong it all is
Frees everyone
Tries to take down the Hex but has to fight Agatha and Hayward(and whatever he launched) in order to do so but she has the help of Vision, Monica and Peter
Inevitably kills Westview Vision when she takes down the hex, says goodbye and we’ll cry
Grabs her children and we go into dr. strange 2 where she’ll try to fix what she fucked up
or
She forgets her children, probably Agatha’s doing and goes crazy with the grief of losing everything at once hence setting her up as one of the main characters (villain?) of Dr strange 2
I’ve had the feeling that phase 4 is going to revolve around her and her powers, spiderman 3: no way home and dr. strange the multiverse of madness, even loki and antman: quantumania. They all give multiverse, ripples in the fabric of reality kinda vibes.
So far all I’ve got are more questions for episode 8
Why did Agatha do this? What’s the purpose of it?
Is Vision gonna die? Is he alive? Are my theories right?
Are the kids alive or aged up? Trapped in the creepy ass basement?
Is Peter under Agatha's mind control or will he team up with Monica?
Will the town people die in Haywards attack?
Will we get to see the big bad in the show?
Who is the aerospace engineeeeer?
Hope you’ve enjoyed reading my delusions, expect a theory for the final episode after I watch ep 8. Leave me a like or reblog if you’ve found this interesting. You can also follow me on Twitter where I usually post my dumbassery first!

Note
This was an old post but would you be agreeing with narutoforums(.)org/threads/kishi-was-right-to-make-tobi-obito-and-not-izuna.932510/#post-47956684 ?
link to post
writing this was one long "i guess i like obito??" another uchiha i'm a fucker for rip me
going in (something like) vanadius’ order:
making tobi madara's age doesn't work (why vanadius thinks obito is logistically impossible but is fine with a founders’ era person being spritely a almost a century later is baffling bc even kishimoto doesn't go that far). they seem to want tobi to be izuna, i’ll focus on him
how would izuna be alive and not old as hell? he's madara’s age
sure, tobi being izuna is a neat reveal, but it would require a major overhaul of canon that raises a lot of questions
if tobirama didn't kill him, how do we get to the point of senju-uchiha collaboration that leads to the creation of konoha? if izuna survives, madara's behavior will be different. his priorities will be different. the initial peace came around because izuna died. without the formation of konoha and madara's alienation- which isn't certain if izuna is still alive- madara's defection isn't a guarantee. madara might not have gotten izuna's mangekyō- has there ever been a reciprocal implant? if the two of them lost their sight, that's a major difference (well, maybe, considering what madara got up to for a while). would madara have read the stone before he and izuna went blind? would he have been as impatient with hashirama? as easily manipulated? konoha would have been fundamentally different or non-existent if izuna had survived
“ancient, enigmatic menace" sounds cool, but in practice, what does it mean? we have black zetsu, so let's not assume that those traits make a character interesting lol
imo vanadius is missing the point with obito because yeah, he is still a schoolboy. this is the problem with writing a story that selectively acknowledges trauma. every boo boo and bobo the fool conveniently forgets that it also applies to characters they don't love. characters like, you know, the child soldier who was nearly crushed to death, then kidnapped and emotionally tortured for we don't know how long. of course obito acts like a kid. how can he mature emotionally after madara basically drove him insane? (here are the problems with logistics since the whole rin jinchūriki thing is a mess, yeah, but i’m not saying that canon's plot with obito was perfect)
i do agree that the love triangle on team minato doesn't matter, but i agree because there isn't one. obito has a crush on rin. he saw kakashi as a rival for her attention sometimes, but that's it. (if you want to go for the kakashi and obito shippy interpretation, the same holds true. you can't have a love triangle when there's no conflict.) if kishimoto had bothered to give rin a personality unrelated to kakashi and obito, obito’s devotion to her would have been more understandable
(you could argue that that's deliberate because obito only saw rin as his childhood crush, but you would be wrong because masashi kishimoto wrote this)
i didn't find obito's moments with minato moving either, but i did think, for a moment, that he and kakashi throwing down was going to be satisfying, but it got watered down because nobody gets to resolve anything on their own
the way obito became ~good~ again was lazy. i hate a forcible change of heart, especially right before a heroic sacrifice or whatever. it undercut obito's fucked up resolve to destroy the world and made everything he did even worse because wasn't even that devoted to it. naruto isn't similar enough to obito to justify such a massive change in so little time. they don't know each other, and their connections through kakashi and minato are weak
definitely agreed about kakashi having too much importance. i wish i could remember who wrote it, but someone said that kakashi should have stayed dead when pain attacked. i'm on the fence about that, but he shouldn't have had such a big role in the story
tobi's role in the massacre needed development regardless of who he was. why would izuna want to kill his own clan? why would madara- or would izuna freestyle like obito? why would a totally new character want to do that?
actually, the blank period did it and did it fine, but that storyline would be way too complicated to integrate into the main narrative
lol @ the idea that shippuden era naruto is fighting the ninja system. that disappeared with sasuke in part one. the caring about other people renaissance with pain was a blip
idk why anyone would suggest that tobi should be madara. again, you’d have to rewrite so much to make it work that the story would need to be fundamentally restructured. how would he still be alive? wouldn’t he still an old man? how is he going to keep up in a fight? is madara's cave setup not going to happen? does he not die? if he does, how does he come back?
tl;dr some decent points but overall, nah, i would not be agreeing

Credit where credit is due, Gabriel did a nice job directing this episode. He had more screen time that I’m used to from actors pulling double duty, and he seems to have handled the extra workload well.
That’s not to say the episode was flawless. Yeah, by Season 9 standards, it was pretty good overall, but I mean. Season 9 standards.
We start off at home with Louis and Sheila having a terse exchange over tea as I wonder, yet again, why they’re together at all if they’re always so goddamn pissy about everything. Louis bemoans his demotion as Sheila irritably directs him to drink his rooibos and asks him what the big deal is, being that he didn’t even want the job in the first place (true). Louis parries that he only said that because Donna offered it to him the same night he found out about Sheila’s pregnancy (true), but at any other time in his life, he would have taken it (false). On the contrary, you may remember this fairly unambiguous exchange from “Pecking Order” (s08e02) between Doctor Lipschitz and Louis: “As I recall, you accepted Harvey becoming managing partner after Jessica left.” “That’s when I realized I didn’t want to be managing partner.” I suppose I’ve never accused this show of internal consistency before, why bother starting now?
Louis then delightfully compares himself to a ball-less cat and laments that though “the job wasn’t sunshine and rainbows, [he] was getting really good at it,” and excuse me but what? Forget that disastrous hearing that summoned Faye to their doorstep, his most recent acts as managing partner include trying to bully Professor Gerard into letting him be the keynote speaker at Harvard’s Ethic Conference to talk up his failing firm, and going completely off the rails trying to fire the poor IT guy for failing to digitally break into the New York State Bar Association. Louis sucked at being managing partner.
Next up is a reminder that I need to be careful what I wish for as Donna and Harvey discuss his reflexive support of her impassioned but quite incorrect argument against Louis trying to fire Benjamin, and how much she didn’t appreciate it. Turns out it wasn’t so reflexive; he did it because she thought she would like it, which is its own magnificently flawed concept—thinking she’ll get mad at him for disagreeing with her doesn’t say much for his respect for her integrity—but then Donna realizes that he’s afraid she’s going to leave him if he doesn’t unconditionally support her, and you just know the writers thought they were being real clever with this. (Wait, isn’t one of Harvey’s defining character traits his ability to read people? “You read books, I read people” was actually one of the first things he said to Mike in the pilot… Gosh it’s been a long time.)
As I was saying about this show’s internal consistency, two things about this whole exchange: One, all through Season 7, Harvey had no trouble calling Paula out when she was being ridiculous and disagreeing with her about all kinds of shit. Two, as recently as “Everything Changes” (s09e01), Harvey cooed that “[he’s] finally where [he’s] supposed to be” when he’s with Donna, to which Donna replied “We both are,” and like, are they a match made in Heaven right out of the box or what? His trust in their relationship is wildly inconsistent. Unless he wants to forfeit his autonomy for some reason? I don’t know, it’s weird and I don’t like it.
I also take issue with Donna’s dismissive “Oh, my god. Of course. Harvey, I’m not gonna leave you.” This has been an issue for him since forever, as she well knows, but rather than ask him what’s wrong—is he really afraid she’ll leave him over something so small?—or point out that he needs to go to therapy (if she wants to be tactful, she could ask if he wants to “talk to someone” about this), she treats it as an endearing character quirk, and someone needs to save Harvey from all this shit yesterday.
The interruption to this…reconciliation isn’t quite as cringy as the can opener bit from the last episode, but I’ve gotta call it out for being just some truly lazy storytelling. Gretchen appears out of nowhere to tell them they “need to go see Louis,” on account of his demotion, and Donna’s deer-in-headlights response is “Oh, my god. We need to go to him right now.” Yeah, no shit, that’s what Gretchen just said, except this framing affords Harvey the opportunity to mount his noble high horse and declare: “No. You go to him. I need to go see Faye.” Which he does, dramatic music and all, declaring that “dammit, not everybody has to do everything by [her] book,” and I must point out that she demoted Louis for trying to fire the employee who he asked to perform an illegal activity that he failed to perform only because he was caught; in what book is that okay? He then asserts: “You want consequences, I’ll give you consequences,” which is delightfully reminiscent of that old classic, “I’ll give you something to cry about,” in that it makes absolutely no sense, and Harvey, you adorable impetuous dumbass, if your goal is to convince her to leave, I think you might be going about it in a little bit the wrong way.
Roll title crawl! (No seriously, that was all just the cold open.)
Anyway Donna does go to comfort Louis, already treating herself and Harvey as a unit when she assures him that “if [he] ever [needs her] or Harvey during any of this Faye bullshit,” they’re there for him, and dropping the much more interesting detail that she has a much older sister she doesn’t want to talk about who “turned every man she was ever with into an emotional doormat,” which I don’t have time to fic right now but I feel like might explain a lot. Then Alex and Samantha have an endearing little exchange wherein Samantha proposes doing something to help Louis and Alex clarifies that it has to be ethical, and it’s nice to know that at least a couple of people around here aren’t completely insane.
Speaking of things being insane, I won’t fault Gabriel for this because the direction itself is fine, but from a writing perspective, the narrative construct of this next scene is terrible. Harvey shows up at a meeting with Some Guy whose nondescript company is apparently, thanks to his board and the company’s lawyers, being taken over (by someone) against his wishes, and the only hint of context for any of this is that “the people” orchestrating this takeover are “related” to Faye. The obvious conclusion to this exchange is that Harvey is going to help this guy, who is apparently the CEO of this random organization, sue the company by acting as a shareholder rather than a C-level employee, and I still have no idea what the fuck is going on.
Back at the firm where I do kind of know what’s going on, Susan the Associate approaches Katrina with a problem she found in the VersaLife case Katrina’s working, and as soon as they gave her a name in the last episode, I know she was going to be important. More to the point, it looks like Katrina’s got herself an associate! (Remember when senior partners were required to hire their own associates? It was a whole big thing back in Season 1, I think.)
Next up, Louis is having lunch with an old friend, Saul the Judge, who informs him that some other judge is retiring or being fired or something, and offers him a judgeship, and there is so much wrong with this scene that I don’t even know where to begin.
Yes I do. Since when has Louis’s lifelong dream been to be a judge? This is literally the first time he’s ever expressed any interest in it, at all. And another thing, that is not how judicial selection works.
In New York State, judges, depending on the court, are either appointed by the governor and confirmed by the State Senate, nominated by a commission and approved by the governor, chosen at a partisan nominating convention and elected by the voting public, or appointed by the mayor. Qualified individuals can apply to be considered, such as by the Mayor’s Advisory Committee, but there’s no one-and-done offer/acceptance transaction between someone currently on the bench and his lawyer pal, so either this guy is offering Louis a job that doesn’t exist or, more likely, the writers don’t know shit about the New York City legal system.
Moving on. Harvey shoves a recusal form in Faye’s face as he informs her that he “got” a case against her old firm, and he’s “taking it,” as though he didn’t go way out of his way to hunt it down in the first place. He then throws a stupidly juvenile hissy fit, claiming he’ll use whatever he fucking has to to “win,” and prove his system his better than hers, but he won’t have to cross any lines because she de-balled (second reference, just as charming as the first) the guys at her old firm so much that “they’re shaking in their boots” at the mere threat of lawsuit. This whole exchange is basically a showcase of Harvey acting like a spoiled child, and I know he’s a passionate guy but I gotta say, I’m getting tired of this whole act.
Back to that clusterfucking disaster of a judgeship offer, Louis fesses up to Sheila but admits that he doesn’t want to accept the drop in salary with a kid on the way, or leave his friends in the lurch, and she in turn fesses up that she asked Saul to make the offer in the first place because “being a judge has always been [his] dream.” (SINCE WHEN?) Louis is incensed until she tells him that it was basically Saul’s idea, but that if he doesn’t take it now, he’ll never get the change again, which… Why? Well, I guess they haven’t pointlessly manufactured any tension in awhile. Anyway, Louis promises to sleep on it.
Elsewhere, Samantha proposes committing conspiracy to get Faye out of their lives and Alex shuts that shit right away, and I’m actually really enjoying their dynamic right now. Susan asks Katrina what she should do about a smart, funny paralegal she clicks with; Katrina, having “seen that before,” recommends finding a new paralegal, and I’ve never had this question before but is Katrina anti-Machel for some reason? Doesn’t matter. Susan proposes reaching out to opposing counsel, who just so happens to be an old family friend, and Katrina wisely tells her not to, but somewhat less wisely starts and ends her rationale with “Because I know,” which I’m sure won’t motivate Susan to act in any sort of way.
Now, I’m no dream theorist, but luckily this show has all the subtlety of a Liberace action figure, so it’s not too difficult to figure out what Louis’s subconscious mind is trying to say: He wants to humiliate Faye (for demoting him and taking over his firm), he wants to bang Donna (and maybe also Alex), he thinks of Harvey as his peer but also his inferior (who he wants desperately to impress and probably also to fuck), and his confidence is mainly derived from the approval and admiration of others. Also he wants to have sex with basically everyone. Maybe not Gretchen. But everyone else.
Dr. Lipschitz, to whom Louis was evidently relaying the events of this dream, finds the whole thing quite amusing, but points out that if Louis takes the judgeship, he won’t have his friends around him anymore. Double-edged sword and all that.

Midoriya and his many parents
Not a Dream Daddy post.
I've mentioned this briefly in Aizawa's profile, but BnHA is just chock full of father figures. There's a big emphasis on mentors and fatherhood, more so than in a lot of other manga and anime I follow. Now, the idea of the 'sensei' is fairly classic, the old master who teaches the young hero their secret technique and all that. But the young heroes in BnHA, with their high stakes environment, do have a lot of them.
This is especially true for Midoriya.
 Inko Midoriya
Tumblr media
Surely I'm not the only one who thinks it's super interesting that we have not seen Midoriya's biological father? Like… he wasn't even on the couch watching the Sports Festival.
Considering his mother appears to be a house wife in a fairly nice apartment, I think it's safe to assume that he at least exists. Maybe he's a salaryman with a lot of overtime, more likely he's working overseas. Whatever the case, he's very much an absent dad.  Now, absentee parents aren't that much of a deal in anime. The '16-year old living alone in Tokyo' is a bit of a trope, after all, but here, with the emphasis on several characters parents, it feels like a statement. This is the manga in which we know the entire family set-up of Tsuyu, and the names and appearance of Jirou's parents. Much as I love Jirou, she's a side character. For the main character to have a blank space like that, is a Thing. It means that growing up, Izuku had one parental figure, and that parental figure was his mother.
Tumblr media
And give the woman credit: she did amazing. It is not easy to raise a child practically by yourself. Certainly not a child that is considered an outcast by society. The amount of love Midoriya receives from his mother is heart-warming, their relationship is one of the better ones portrayed in shounen and as a result, Midoriya is a kid with an incredible amount of mental fortitude, capable of handling some pretty devastating circumstances. His mother has been a supporting pillar in his early childhood, which, remember, was pretty rough on account of all the bullying. As such she has shaped a lot of his personality. She’s equipped him with confidence, with an unshakable belief in himself. However, she is very much not a hero.
Tumblr media
Her love is one of katsudon and hugs and kind words and worried tears. She wants him safe, above all else. She's never going to teach him hand-to-hand and going by her advice alone will not make him into the hero he desperately wants to be. Him quite literally leaving the warm nest she made for him to learn how to fight evil people is a big part of him growing up.
 All Might
Tumblr media
Maybe that's why Izuku puts so much of his hopes and dreams on All Might. Here's his ultimate hero taking an interest in little old him. It's a fairy tale. A manga trope. And I really believe that he sees an alternate father figure in All Might once he gets closer to him. They have their wax on, wax off moment on the beach, with All Might encouraging him to get stronger. This is the trope. The sensei, mister Miyagi thing where the kid gets prepped to receive the ultimate technique (in the form of a lock of... hair, whatever). But unlike traditional masters, and unlike his biological father, All Might sticks around. He is a presence in his life. He cares for Midoriya and his continued success in a way that, at this point, no other male figure does.
Tumblr media
Dad Might gives Midoriya a whole bunch of very important advice, but it's good to note that this isn't a rough or distant sort of male mentorship. All Might quite literally opens himself up to Midoriya. He shows him his weaker side. The skeletal side. The broken side. Because All Might, let’s not forget, is a friggin mess.
I mean, I know he's going through a lot, but this man is Such a Dork. It’s definitely endearing and it is also one of his best traits as a character. However: as a person, he's really not very well equipped to be raising a teenager. He lacks, in a way, the stability and level-headedness that comes with the position of a teacher. He cares too much. About everything. All the time. And he nurtures that side of Midoriya, when Midoriya already has plenty of that.
Tumblr media
He can't help but admire Midoriya's selflessness. Can't help but praise the very foundation upon which his own heroics are based: helping people. When he saves Todoroki. When he saves Bakugou, All Might is there to tell Midoriya that what he did is all right.
Tumblr media
And this is certainly important for Midoriya to hear, but at this point it’s also not the only thing he needs to hear.
 Aizawa Shouta
Luckily Midoriya also gets a more traditional teacher figure. It's interesting to note that, despite being the younger of the two, and despite the fact that he sometimes teaches from an honest to god sleeping bag, Aizawa is a much more stable mentor and general Adulting Adult. He still cares about his students, but he's also much more likely to Act as a Teacher.
Tumblr media
Because Aizawa immediately picks up on Izuku's self-mutilation. He watched the entrance exam, he knows that Izuku's quirk is, at this point, extremely flawed. That Izuku doesn't have control over it. He explains it in a pretty standoffish way, and certainly this early in the show it comes across as cruel, but he's not wrong. Izuku is breaking bones every single time he uses his quirk at this point in time. If he does anything with his quirk, he'll be a casualty. Him using only a single finger is framed as a feat of intelligence, but it is also INSANE. 'Oh you only broke one finger, you have nine attacks left'. That is NOT a good plan. Don't do that. For fuck's sake. I hope we all realize that what Midoriya is doing is Not Healthy. He is eating away at himself, destroying his own body over and over again.
When Aizawa tells Midoriya to get a grip on his powers he's not just being an ass. He's being a responsible adult, a teacher that cares about the general well-being of the students assigned to him.
Manga spoilers under the cut.
Tumblr media
This isn't to say he doesn't begrudgingly admire Izuku. He does. He keeps him in the class because of his conviction, because of his intelligence. His Potential. He probably recognizes something heroic in him, just like everyone else does. But someone has to tell this kid to stop from literally breaking himself and that is something All Might can't really do at this point. The man himself has been overdoing it all his life. He is missing Vital Organs and he still can't, like, take it easy.  Even when given a literal time limit on his heroics, he will get distracted by saving people. So that role of scolding Midoriya and reigning him in goes to people like Aizawa and Recovery Girl. But they still can't teach him how to get Better at it.
Gran Torino
Tumblr media
Enter Weird Grandpa Gran Torino. The old timer is rather well-placed for this, because he knows All Might better than most, and in a less… fan like way than most. He's capable of seeing All Might's flaws. He knows Yagi is terrible at self-care. He knows that Yagi is a man who decided to be a symbol. Who has pushed aside his own needs for the greater good for decades. Gran Torino recognizes this compulsion in Midoriya. He can see Midoriya's will to be like All Might as the potentially bad situation it is. And he noticed that all the way from his couch in front of the tv screen, watching the Sports Festival.
Tumblr media
Most importantly, he shows Midoriya that he needs to let go of a lot of his admiration for his hero, if he's going to succeed him.
Tumblr media
Which is something literally no one else would be able to teach him.
 Yagi Toshinori
One of the better qualities of BnHA is that even the older characters, like the big Idol Hero Dude, gain some character development. All Might goes through a lot of stuff in the series, and all in all he seems to take it in his stride that he's losing power. But on a very personal level, he's also getting better. At least at the whole teaching/mentor business. There comes a point when he stops pushing himself to be everything to everyone, and basically retires to be a teacher to Deku and his class. That point is one of my favourite scenes, because it so encapsulates the relationship between All Might and Deku.
It comes after the raid on the League's hideout.Bakugou has been saved, the whole friggin world has seen All Might shrink to his skeletal form and Midoriya meets him late at night on the beach where they first trained. Symbolic stuff. And the first thing All Might does is punch him for breaking the rules. Again. He scolds him and this is one of the first times he’s actually angry at Midoriya. For going above and beyond, for putting himself in harm's way. Again.
Tumblr media
And then the Dad Might instinct kicks in, because holy jeebus is he proud. He can't help it. This is where Yagi decides to focus on *his kid*. Where he finally fully takes up the 'mentor' mantle.
Tumblr media
And it's so bittersweet, because as with everything between these two, that beginning is also an end. One for All has finally transitioned fully.
And can we just… respect how well Yagi deals with this? He's had some time to process, but look at him. Depending on your point of view, this kid now has his power. Or is the reason he no longer has it. And he is gracious. Supporting. Comforting.
 The team
They say it takes a village to raise a child, and the great thing about UA, for characters such as Midoriya, is that it has a lot of good, decent people, who team up to provide some kind of personal growth. And it's so very cute when they do that! They actually do the whole good cop/bad cop thing.
Tumblr media
For Yagi, personal growth, heroism, selflessness, bravery, is and always will be more important than rules. Yagi's affection is one of warmth, of understanding. Even when his two most trusted pupils are beating each other senseless, he's the one that pleads for leniency. Aizawa's job, meanwhile, is to provide authority. They are complementary, they have to be. Aizawa acts like this even if he can't enforce it. Even if he doesn't particularly like doing it. He knows it needs to happen, cause otherwise they'll never learn.
He's being Responsible.
Tumblr media
But please note, because this is super important, that Aizawa doesn't even start yelling until he knows that all wounds have been at least disinfected. There’s a first aid kit on the table in the previous screenshot. Those kids already have bandaids on their face. The first thing either of those two adults do, is make sure everyone is all right.
Cause that's the thing I absolutely love about these two. Midoriya may have left the safe nest of his mother, he's very much still being cared for. His new guardians are a bit rougher around the edges but they absolutely have his best interest at heart. Yagi may be more prone to hugs than Aizawa, but this is something they both have in common, and something that makes them work together despite their clashing personalities. They care.
Tumblr media
More BnHA character stuff.

ok yesterday i went to see endgame again (bc of course i did) and now i have few more Thoughts and Words to say (probably mostly for future me, who really likes reading past me's first (or second) impressions)  do i still need to warn about spoilers it's been like half a week already
Things i forgot from my last post/thoughts before seeing the movie the 2nd time: - i can't believe that hot tub time machine exists in the marvel cinematic universe. sorry but to me that's even better than the star wars prequels existing - i do love that we're once again reminded how insanely smart tony stark is - what even happened to sif tho??
Thoughts after seeing the movie the 2nd:
(0. mjölnirsteve. stevepeggydance. arrownecklace. still loved them more than anything else, still still can't not mention them)
1. god spider-man in a fetal position in the battlefield is so heartbreaking. He's just a kid!!!!!!!!!he should not have to be there!!!!
2. ok once again: clint should've died, goddamit. nothing would've changed in the story. Is it just that still, after all these years, no one really cares about hawkeye? I mean in the mcu he had no actual friends (besides natasha) among the avengers, did he now, and he had no "love interest" (or u know, no love interest who was an actual character with other character traits than 'wife'. whose reaction we as the audience would've cared about (or maybe when i say the audience, im talking just about me idk who knows..)) no one to look mournful after natasha came back alone or cry manly tears or throw some benches for him or whatever. 2b. What i am probably trying to say... i was robbed of live action hulkeye bffs 2c. i said it after aou, i say it now: once again the movie would've been so much better if clint and natasha just traded their storylines completely. or even partly.
3. i'm not familiar with ronin from the comics, but i don't really get clint's motivation for becoming ronin in the movie?? "my family is gone, so now im going to kill... bad guys? whoever?....everyone?" sure...... and then it's just dropped
4. i am now 100% sure that bucky knew what steve was planning to do in the end
5. ok clint and wanda's conversation was like two words, so now i dont blame myself so much for thinking she was talking about pietro or even tony.... what did she even say, "i'm sure she knows we won. they both do"? I mean yeah it is about vision bc tony definitely knew they won and pietro... was on a vacation somewhere and didn't know there was something to be won....... idk why i need to explain this to myself so thoroughly.....
6. the worst part is, i really really enjoy clint and natasha's conversation and fight and everything in vormir grrrrhg
7. ggooddddd i hate marvel for making me kinda hate my favourite character for kinda causing my second favourite character's death.. or u know him surviving at her expence (also my third favourite character, nebula, probably /knew/ and i dont even know where to start with that... basically my fave character is unfairly dead bc of my two other fave characters i guess??¿?)
8. i mean it makes sense outside of the movie, bc carol is so ridiculously op, but why didn't the avengers tell her about the timeheist plan? I mean i get that she was busy and all, but shouldn't she have at least known
9. ok i was more okay with thor this time. there were still some scenes that made me go eehhhhh (like thor rubbing rocket with his belly why??¿?), but maybe without the audience laughing every time he shows up, i can learn to live with them
10. i still don't like the professor hulk thing. i am definitely with valkyrie (really tho why doesn't she have an actual name..) here, he's better as either of the extremes. Goshdarn the first avengers hulk storyline was so good, i just keep thinking back to it. bruce has never been one of my faves but he's so good in the avengers. ghhh i love the avengers so much
11. steve went to the past with mjölnir. i dont know what to say about that, but it sure is a thing that happened. did he just return it to past thor? did he keep it to himself? also why are people saying that steve just stood idly by a hydra infiltrated shield or as bucky was tortured as the winter soldier??? it's a different timeline, right guys?? who even knows what he did other than danced with peggy and had a life
12. for all these years i have thought that in the avengers loki meant natasha was dreykov's (drakov's?) daughter, but.. apparently that's just someone else and part of her past crimes haha why didn't we get a black widow movie when we should have...like five years ago...
13. as u may notice, i like lists. after rewatching aou on our marvel marathon, i made a list of things that bother me in that movie. i can finally cross this one off:
Tumblr media
14. i may bitch about little things and rage about natasha, but please know that i still really loved the movie (i wouldve loved it even more if clint died tho, i can't believe i'm saying that) and i think it was a beautiful ending for the saga
//things i once again thought but forgot, when i was writing this out: - “and to not die trying would be nice” would it? would it really?? i might’ve kinda snorted sadly at this point and i hope that wasn’t a spoiler for the people sitting around me
- bar the fact that i’m still kinda mad at the whole familydad!clint for being a thing, i find the opening scene with clint teaching lila archery hilarious since jrenner clearly wasn’t very good at it (i will never forget those two arm guards in avengers1) and (in my very not professional opinion) her stance was still kinda terrible also that scene made me think about kate bishop and mostly the fact that she exist (even if not in mcu), so i can’t be too upset

So unrelated to all other postings here: I just finished Nier Automata, and boy howdy do I have feelings about it.
So, let’s start with this: I really liked Nier: Automata. I think it had a gorgeous soundtrack, I think it had some excellent characters and some astounding gameplay moments, really cool side-stories and emotional bits, and overall, a moderately esoteric, possibly plot-holed, but ultimately entertaining story.
That said, that story could have been a lot better. For those of my like 20 followers who aren’t porn bots and want to avoid spoilers, this is absolutely not spoiler free, so read ahead at your own risk!
Okay so you play act one as 2B, the cool goth-lady in all of the promo material. 2B is a combat android. The game starts with her lamenting the constant struggle and infinite cycle of life and death, summed up in the line "Everything that lives is designed to end. We are perpetually trapped in a never-ending spiral of life and death. Is this a curse? Or some kind of punishment? I often think about the God that blessed us with this cryptic puzzle, and wonder if we’ll ever have the chance to kill him."
This lament is particularly relevant to her because, as a combat android, she has more or less experienced death multiple times over, both that of her allies, and in some cases, her own. (When androids die, they can upload their backed up data into new bodies, at the expense of any memories they had that were not backed up before they died. So really she probably doesn't remember experiencing her own death, but she certainly knows that she has died a lot, and has also definitely experienced the death of friends. This is made particularly clear in a part where her sidekick character, 9S, dies before he can back up his memory, so when she sees him again, he does not remember her at all).
She's very adamant that androids can't show and aren't even supposed to have emotions, even though most androids DO have them, herself included, and she often keeps her own emotions in check. She's been made to fight "machines", which are, as far as anyone is aware, mindless killing robots. Through the course of the game, she starts to see more and more "humanity" in them, and visibly struggles with killing them, recognizing their sapience and budding humanity, but oftentimes does so anyway because that is her designated purpose.
To me, at least, she is hecka interesting because she obviously suppresses her emotions and tries to distance herself from what she is doing, because the horror of watching her friends die and forget about her again and again, alongside the horror of possibly just slaughtering other sapient machines, is too much for her to accept. In essence, she's a determined soldier struggling with her own misgivings about her duty, but doggedly pushing forward in pursuit of her ideals. Even so, as the first ending of the game outright states, she eventually accepts that machines are conscious beings, and hopes for a time when conflict against them can come to an end.
Then, you play act 2 as her sidekick, 9S. Act 2 is a retread of act 1, but because 9S is a support robot specialized in information gathering, you are able to get more data (and therefore more context) about what is happening in the story, as opposed to 2B's side where you are kinda operating blind and just have to make due with what you know and can assume. (The data you gain is both part of the story, as in, 9S gathers the data himself, and also purely meta, as in, there is some data that you just experience as a player that recontextualizes what you did in certain events).
9S himself is rather openly emotional, and is shown to be affable, inquisitive, and pretty self-assured. He's really interested in researching these enemy machines, finding out as much as he can about them and their strange behaviors, but is very strong in his belief that they are distinctly not sapient, and more or less refuses to accept them as otherwise, summed up with the line "There's no meaning in anything these machines do", which he repeats a few times. So while 2B agonizes over the fact that she's sure machines are sapient and tries to distance herself from the openly friendlier ones because of that fact, 9S is sure they are not sapient, and eagerly helps the friendlier ones to do things for the sake of furthering his research.
He has some depth as a character, but not a whole lot; ultimately, he doesn't care for machines, and doesn't ever reach a point where he really starts to care about them. He cares about other androids, though, like 2B, and his operator, 21O. So, while 2B has a lot of stuff that she could unpack, a lot of cool development that she could have (and some of it that she does have), 9S is kinda "what you get is what you see".9S doesn't think of machines as conscious beings, and views the conflict against them as inevitable.
During Act 1/2, you are briefly introduced to A2, a rogue android who is labeled a deserter and a traitor, and who seems to be of the impression that the chain of command of your organization betrayed her. She appears for a moment, and then disappears and isn't heard from again for the rest of the act.
So, you start act 3, which is a new part of the story. At the beginning of act 3, the game makes it obvious that for this section, you're going to be repeatedly trading off between 2B and 9S to accomplish various goals and to forward the story to its ultimate climax. There're some really cool segments where you play as 9S deactivating anti-air installments with his hacking, then switch over to 2B flying in with her squad to destroy the enemy air forces and start ground combat. Then the battle goes south, their allies all get giga-hacked and turn on them, and there's a section where you're trading between them as they make their way through this crazy conflict.
Eventually, things go super irrevocably south, their home base gets utterly destroyed, and they lose the ability to load themselves into new bodies if they die. The game makes it clear that from that point on, rather than respawning, death equals a real game over. So that's cool. You get shunted into hardcore survival mode, where your allies have all died or turned on you, and a relentless force of machines promise to dog you at every turn. Ostensibly, 2B and 9S's mission from then on is to survive, and perhaps figure out what it is that destroyed their organization (known as YoRHa), how, and why.
And then 2B dies.
And she enters this weird narrative nullspace where she both is and is not a significant part of the story, known as Schrodinger's plot relevance.
For the rest of the third act, instead of 2B, you play as A2. When you met her in the forest, she was a rogue android, and didn't get a lot of development past that. When you start to play as her, she is a rogue android who mercy-killed 2B and has 2B's memories kinda? And... doesn't get a lot of development past that. She's callous, ruthless, and outspoken, which are all neat traits, and I like her character, but she doesn't have a whole lot going on, as evidenced by the fact that, as soon as you take control of her, her first goal is to "I don't know, just go kill as many machines as I can". She has 2B's memories, to some degree, but she ISN'T 2B, but she kinda acts like 2B every so often, and a lot of her decisions towards the later parts of the game are influenced by 2B. But she doesn't have her own strong identity, and she is also not 2B.
She COULD have her own strong identity. The game COULD have taken the time to develop her as a jaded soldier, betrayed by the people that made her, deprived of her purpose, and left to fend for herself in the wilds. She COULD have a lot of feelings about YoRHa, especially the fact that it is now utterly destroyed, but she doesn't express any of that. She expresses a hatred for machines, because she was built to destroy machines, and disinterest in YoRHa, because they abandoned her. She is, however, tangentially interested in 9S, because 2B asked her to keep him safe. But she overall doesn't have a strong motivation or character arc, in part because she only exists as a strong presence for the last 1/3rd of the game.
It's particularly frustrating because they even specifically introduce plot elements that are relevant to her, and should elicit a strong reaction. She finds out that her entire line of androids, the people she was sent into combat with, that she made friends with and treated as her family, all of them and herself were all purposefully created to die, and the fact that she survived was a mistake. She COULD have had a lot of development there, finding that information out, and struggling both with the fact that YoRHa made her and her companions with the intention of their ultimate destruction, AND the fact that the organization itself is now destroyed, giving her nowhere particularly constructive to vent her anger or desire for revenge. But none of that happens. She just kinda learns that information and then relays it later to 9S.
She does take part in one solid story element, where she tries to save a village of friendly machines, but that... doesn’t really make a lot of sense for her. It could be taken as her trying to find a place in the world, and kinda slowly turning towards allying with these machines, or her absorbing more of 2B’s memories and sense of self, but ultimately it is ambiguous enough to feel out of character, or like some really rushed character development.
9S, meanwhile, basically goes insane and vows to kill all the machines. All of them. Every machine. Except, that story doesn't WORK for 9S, because he didn't have an arc that would make that relevant or meaningful.
Everyone 2B loved died, too. If we followed her as she had an emotional meltdown, finally releasing all of her pent up feelings and channeling them into rage against the machines (lol), it would be heckin’ cool, because it is a natural progression that is nonetheless in conflict with the character she normally is, very stoic and at the same time very conscious of the fact that she was essentially slaughtering sapient machines. Her going into this rage and destroying a bunch of the very people she earlier wished for peace with, parroting 9S's lines of 'Nothing these machines do has any meaning' would be really meaningful and powerful.
When 9S does it, it feels flat. When 9S kills a bunch of machines while saying 'Nothing these machines do has any meaning', it doesn't feel any different than the first time he said it, even though he's really mad now, because he has always felt this way. 2B and everyone he loves dying hasn't changed him from 'contemplating the sapience of machines' to 'forsaking thought and mercy in favor of blind rage', he has simply gone from 'Machines aren't alive and it's our duty to study and then kill them' to 'machines aren't alive and also I hate them and want to kill them'.
Even so, 9S is the one who is there, driving the story forward, purely through his hatred of machines and his desire to end them once and for all, forsaking any desire to understand them.
We also find out, kinda awkwardly and offhandedly, that 2B was secretly a particular model of android designed to stealthily execute potential traitors or deserters, and that she was particularly assigned to 9S because, as the most advanced hacker model android, there was a high risk of him discovering really highly-secretive files, or otherwise learning things he shouldn't, or damaging himself in various ways via machine interfacing. So obviously, this adds another layer to 2B, and like... how ludicrously awful she must have felt, having to kill this person again and again, having to stay close with him and be his friend, only to kill him each time he stepped out of line, forcing him to forget her, and losing the person he was each time.
If this information had been revealed as part of the start of act 3, we would have even had a good reason for 2B and 9S to split up; 9S is terrified and betrayed by this information and runs from 2B and does his own thing for a while, learning more about machines and talking with the most philosophical machine, Pascal, in great detail. Through their discussions, 9S could come to adopt 2B's idea that continuing to fight would be utterly senseless, could seek to co-exist with the machines, and could even come to understand 2B and how all of this was affecting her, while 2B, already fragile from the loss of the rest of her friends and everyone at YoRHa, is finally pushed over the edge knowing that her last friend in the world no longer trusts her, and falls entirely unto a pure emotional outburst (as stated earlier) that drives her to want to destroy the machines for taking everything else from her. Essentially, the characters' motivations would be swapped, which we'll come back to later because this would become a really important plot thing if it happened.
But back to reality.
So, you progress through the game mostly as 9S, as stated, with A2 occasionally popping in to watch 9S fall down holes before she fights bosses (seriously he falls down holes several times in her presence). This all culminates in 9S and A2 simultaneously but independently trying to get into this huge machine structure because... well, 9S wants to get in because he wants to destroy all machines, and A2 wants to get in because... ? I'm not actually certain. Maybe cause 9S is there?
So this leads to a really really cool scene where  9S and A2 are both racing up this tower, going high above the clouds, and they're both fighting these two massive machines; 9S is fighting one in the air using a flying personal mech-suit type thing, while A2 fights one by hand an elevator. And every so often, during the fight, there'll be a cloud transition and you're fighting as the other character, and it's really seamless and feels really good. And as you get higher/take the bosses down lower, the swaps become faster and faster, culminating in a scene where both characters arrive at the same time at the top of the tower. The two bosses combine into one, and you have a fight where both characters are working together to defeat the combined boss, and you swap control of them seamlessly at various intervals, faster and faster until it ends with a scene of them tag-team finishing the boss off.
And then soon after that, they stand off and have a duel, because 9S is hella mad at A2 for ostensibly killing 2B, and A2 wants to stop 9S from messing up some important stuff in his blind revengerage. And you select who you play in the duel, and the outcome of the duel depends on who you play as, so there are two different endings depending on which character wins. Unfortunately, because of how the story has played out, all of the emotion in the duel is entirely one-sided. 9S hates A2 for killing 2B, and A2 is kinda ambivalent towards 9S but 2B wanted him safe so she's gonna try to keep him safe I guess.
If you side with 9S during the duel, he and A2 kill each other, and his fading consciousness is uploaded into the machine network and launched into space. If you side with A2, she saves 9S (by hacking into him, because at some point she gains the ability to hack for almost no reason), and destroys the thing that would launch stuff into space, believing that it is intended to destroy some really important stuff, and also she dies. So either way A2 dies, and either way, in some form, 9S lives.
So, I'll take this moment to call back to that part that would become a "really important plot thing" if it happened. See, these scenes were really cool, and the idea of them was really cool. But the execution was utterly lacking, and the strongest reason for that is lack of character motivation. You know what would have been hecking cool? A2 is not part of the story, or at least plays an entirely different role and you don't play as her. Instead of 9S driving the story along, he and 2B are both doing it in their own ways; 2B tears a  hole through the machine forces in order to gain access to the final huge machine base so she can destroy the machines once and for all, while 9S uses his hacking and more pacifistic means to gain access, both to stop 2B, and to find a way to co-exist with the machines. They either briefly encounter or narrowly miss each other a few times, and if they do encounter each other, tensions are high (a perfect example: one of the meetings between 9S and A2 ends with A2 killing 21O, 9S's old operator and close friend, because 21O was corrupted, essentially murdering her in order to save him. Replace A2 with 2B. 2B kills 21O to save 9S, but he's distraught that his friend is dead by 2B's hand, and they don't come to a resolution there).
Then you have the scene where they're both ascending the tower. Instead of 9S and (secondary character), it's 9S and 2B, both working towards the same end point but with different goals in mind. They team up like they had before, finish off this huge enemy using the power of teamwork, and then face off in this duel. And in this case, the duel actually means something, because it's a battle between people who actually care about each other, both of them fighting the person they want to preserve the most, over their now very disparate ideologies. And the ideology you, the player choose to side with ultimately determines the ending of the game.
Like really at that point you could even just cannibalize the endings already in place. You side with 2B, you mistakenly kill 9S, and destroy the machine structure, destroying all of the machines and also yourself in the process. If you side with 9S, you end the duel by hacking into 2B to calm her down, and then upload both of your memories into the machine network to coexist with them. Boom. Give me a story writing medal. Okay not really, like I don't even know if that would have been a *good* story. But I think it would have been better than what we got.
Ultimately, though, my biggest complaint is that I felt lied to. I signed up to play 2B's story, and instead, I played a story distinctly and unflatteringly centered around 9S. I expected cheesecake, and honestly, I was fine with that, because 2B felt really interesting to me despite that, and felt like a character I was supposed to sympathize with, but 2B died to give 9S a flimsy revenge motivation. A2 felt like she didn't even belong in the narrative for how hollow her character was, despite the cool trappings (not literally, I kinda hated her outfit, but I loved the berserker aspect), and basically served as a vessel to make sure that 9S could get to where he needed to go, and to sacrifice herself for his survival (in her ending). Devola and Popola were awesome and I loved them, and they essentially both died to get 9S where he needed to go. Operator 21O, dead, in order to make 9S even more angry and emotional. All of the cool women of YoRHa were just set-dressing to make things more sad because women dying is more sad, I guess? I actually don't know. I can make some insidious guesses, but I kinda doubt willful malice is a part of it.
Anyway, there's my thoughts. Please feel free to comment, I'd love to have a discussion about this. Maybe if some of you have played yourselves, you can point out things that I missed that would help me to like the game as it is instead of as I wish it had been! Or something. Either way, if you've made it this far, thanks for reading! (Thank you to everyone who read, too, even if you didn't finish and aren't reading this right now).
