okay, finally finished typing up the behemoth that is arlo's acting career (childhod trauma teehee!). eventually i'll do a write up on the specificities of arlo's trauma and his relationship w his sisters, but for now this has the most important things regarding arlo's history outlined. under the cut for a mobile friendly version.

Born on August 17th, 1997 to Veronica Thompson, nee Hughes, and Derek Thompson, Charlie "Arlo" Finn Thompson never stood a chance. Veronica, a former Elite London model & former favorite WAG, always saw a future for herself and her children that was covered in glitz and gold. Arlo's elder sister Tiffany was a Gerber baby, and the face of Pampers by the tender age of three. It goes without saying that Arlo was thrust into the limelight soon thereafter without so much as a second thought, with Derek, Veronica's former agent, taking up that very same role for his own son.

From diaper commercials to branding deals with Joules, Boden & the like, the Thompson family name very quickly became a household one, a name that when spoken aloud rung of success and good breeding. Arlo stayed a child model for a good portion of his early years, tottering around after his parents as they lavished their darling son with affection in the presence of others. They had him and Tiffany tag along for countless parties, charity event after charity event, Derek & Veronica the very picture of domestic bliss, their children shining examples of good parenting. Of course, when the lights went out and the cameras were nowhere to be seen, it was a different question altogether. A coke habit carried over from her modeling days and an eating disorder to match, Veronica's attention was rarely on her children , delegating the role of mother to the trusted family nanny Jen (whom the media didn't find out about until the cheating scandal, miraculously enough). Derek was a workaholic, the agent of several other young talents, constantly with his nose buried in paperwork and his eyes glued to the prize (re: his bank account).

Derek and Veronica weren't abusive in the way the media is used to portraying the parents of child stars, they never forced Tiff or Arlo to work when they didn't want to, they were never physically abusive and they hardly spoke to their children enough to be verbally abusive. No, their abuse lied within neglect, the utter lack of consideration for their progeny when they weren't making them headlines or making them money. It got worse for Tiff around the time that Arlo turned seven and was cast in his first acting role, the younger brother character on a BBC family sitcom, "Our Family", that ended up taking the nation by storm the following five years. Arlo's character quickly became a fan favorite, with his button nose and big blue eyes, and of course, his point of origin (re; fans of Veronica).

The show ended on its sixth season, a few months before Arlo turned 12 and a few months after Tiff had turned 15. The following three years are incredibly successful ones for Arlo, but tumultuous for Tiff. With his seasoned past and effectively endless CV, Arlo scored several on-screen leading roles, as well as a contract with Disney that resulted in two DCOMS and two more sitcoms. Around this time, the youngest Thompson, Bambi, had turned five, and was following in the footsteps of her elder siblings. Unfortunately, going through puberty with absentee parents and the baggage of being a child star weighing her down, things started to roll downhill very quickly for Tiff. Tiff was officially the least successful Thompson, and as the gossip rags put it, the 'least attractive' as well. Her self-esteem takes a turn for the worst, and she has no one there to take care of her.

At age 18, Tiff starts experimenting with the pill bottles she finds in her mother's bedside drawer, eventually discovering evidence of her mother's affair. In the following weeks, Tiff leaks the story to the papers, "former WAG rekindles flame with famed footy star—while still married?" The press eats the Thompsons alive, former nanny Jen coming forward as well regarding Veronica's coke habit and both her && Derek's child neglect. The five week whirlwind ends in Tiff's public overdose, which she just barely survives. The Thompsons retreat into the shadows, "to heal", as Derek tells the press, still attempting some semblance of damage control.

The following three years find Veronica and Derek divorced, and Tiffany having cut off her parents completely. Now 19, Arlo enters the world of acting once again, with Derek still as his agent. Despite their family's marred reputation, Arlo's talent and history thankfully speaks for him, and he's able to land several smaller roles in assorted dramas and sitcoms that eventually build back his reputation enough to where instead of attending open calls, he's being invited to audition for roles personally.

From age 20 to 23 he stars in a superhero trilogy as the titular character, "Firesong", winning "Best Hero" award for his performance at the MTV Movie && TV awards three years in a row. At age 24 he decides he wants to branch out and try new roles, break out from the typecast that he's been stuck with since effectively age seven (the golden boy, boy-next-door type). He and his father fight about it, with his dad wanting him to "play it safe" as to not risk the success he's seen thusfar the past three years. Arlo tries reasoning with his father by opening up to him, explaining how his whole life, his career has been a source of depression for him, and how if he keeps playing these roles, he's afraid he'll never be able to escape the painful memories that come along with playing them.

Unable to sympathize with his son for even once in his life, Derek responds to Arlo's pleas like an agent would, instead of a father, still prioritizing a paycheck over his son's overall wellbeing. This is the final straw for Arlo, who fires his father. Derek insists that Arlo will be nothing without him, and that if he goes down this role, he'll never land a successful role again in his life—thus, Arlo not only fires his father, but fully cuts him off, Like Tiff did all those years ago. The next three years are a whirlwind of success for Arlo. He takes the leading role in an upcoming A24 movie, "Serendipity", one so avant garde and raw and real that upon seeing the trailer, Derek blows up Arlo's phone, insisting that his son's going to make a laughing stock of the family name. Of course, no such thing happens, and Arlo's performance is so emotional and captivating that he wins an Oscar for Best Actor that year. After his Oscar success, he scores another leading role in an HBO original, an adaptation of a cult-classic fantasy novel series, "Court of Deception", that's taken the internet by storm. For this performance alone, he earns himself two Emmy noms.

During filming of the second season of COD, Arlo takes up songwriting, avoiding therapy but still trying to find ways to cope with his childhood trauma. In the time he has off filming, he releases an album under the name "The Sound", gaining himself a cult following with his indie alternative music. The following summer when filming has wrapped for the third and final season of COD, he and The Sound go on tour, the last show on Arlo's 26th birthday that August.

Between the time he fires his father up until present day, he becomes close with both of his sisters, who are also suffering from the aftermath of their parents neglect. Tiff, now 29, is a successful museum curator, and is going to art school in London. Bambi, only 19, still lives with Veronica, but is slowly freeing herself from their parents clutches, and seeing a therapist weekly that's paid for by Arlo.

∞ When You’re a Stranger ∞ - Chpt. 1

Summary: The Emerson family has been through enough in Santa Carla. With the looming threat of David's vampire gang hanging over their heads, the family flees to the cooler and hopefully quieter town of Hawkins, Indiana.

However, what they think is going to be a peaceful fresh start turns out to be anything but. New school, new life and a new terror waiting for them in Hawkins.

A/N: So I've definitely messed with the canon for both Stranger Things and Lost Boys. One of the major changes I made is to when the events of the Lost Boys movie took place and what happened to the characters. Events of TLB (Lost Boys) occured in the summer of 1984 instead of 1987.

Obviously the boys (from TLB) aren't dead in this scenario. I also aged Sam Emerson down from sixteen to fourteen so he can have more interactions with the gang in Stranger Things.

Warnings/Triggers ⚠️: Sibling fights, mention of past ab*se.

It was a lot less sunny in Roane County, Indiana. A lot greener too. The kind of green marked by dense forests and underbrush that was filled with the kind of wildlife that would be featured in Disney’s Bambi. At least that’s what Michael thought derisively.

Although around late October the gloom of oncoming winter was starting to descend over the area. The season working its way from fall with some trees leaves already starting to turn from green to oranges and yellows. Although green was still the dominant colour of the surrounding scenery.

Michael's eyes roamed from the surrounding forest rushing by out the window and to Star sitting in the passenger seat up front with his mom in their dinky little family Volvo. She had a pair of headphones that he'd lended her so she could listen to Sam's walkman for a bit. Michael can just make out the sound which is bleeding softley. It's her favourite album of all time and tuned to her favourite song.

They have forgotten what binding they lack. Oh under those white street lamps-

The amount of times that the whole Emerson family has listened to that album, She's So Unusual, would be probably on beat the amount of kilometers they'd traveled. Michael didn't mind though, the songs on that album pretty catchy even if played over and over. At least Michael could handle it. However, Sam had reached the end of his rope when Star had suggested playing it on the cars cassette player. The compromise of borrowing the walkman was what Lucy had suggested in order to keep everyone happy. The last thing that they all needed was a nearly two day trip ruined by arguing the whole way over music.

Tensions were pretty high though. At least they were for the first half day of travelling. Lucy had hastily piled as much of their stuff as possible in the back of their trunk along with making sure there was enough space for Nanook to sit comfortably.

They'd left a lot of things back at Grandpa's in order to make space for Star and Laddie to come with them. Only the essentials and a couple of their most loved possessions were allowed to be packed up. The less they had to think about what to take, the sooner they could get the hell out of dodge.

After the events of that dreaded night, the final showdown... Michael didn't want to think about it. Not at the moment, possibly not ever again.

He wanted to forget it. There was already the pressure of starting fresh yet again in a new location with a town full of strangers. Possibly nosey strangers that would ask questions at these interesting group.

They'd definity stare at Star's strange handmade clothes and long gathered hippie style skirts. Her wardrobe was that of someone way to carefree for any common everyday folks. At least not yuppie townies. Her strange habits for foraging and creating artwork out of random things she'd find lying around might be off-putting to others.

Sam didn't really know when to stop talking or how to make his choice of wardrobe, reading and music quiet. Everything about his younger brother was loud and flamboyant. Fitting in with the general crowd seemed to be something he was allergic to. He'd never been terribly bullied, but Michael suspected that was due more to his intervention then because Sam was able to work his way out of anything himself. Michael often thought that if he wasn't there for Sam, things could have been much worse back where they lived before all this jumping from place to place.

Then there was Laddie. Lucy had tried to find his parents after the final battle. However, he'd insisted he'd never want to go back after what his family had done to him. The legal matter of holding onto a runaway was a whole can of worms Lucy wasn't prepared to handle.

That's when Grandpa stepped in to save the day. Or at least to admit that on top of taxidermy he was also knew a guy who could do some pretty convincing forgery of documents for a price. However, Grandpa was more than happy to help cover the costs and soon Lucy had to deal with the moral dilemma of what would be considered kidnapping. Michael thought she made the right choice by taking Laddie along, even if he did have to now go by a new name in order to not raise suspicion.

As far as Michael was concerned those abusive assholes could keep looking.

There was the matter of Laddie as a whole. Living with a den of vampires doesn't exactly encourage an environment for normal behavior. Laddie had spent a good amount of time being out of school and away from other kids his age. As a result he wasn't exactly well socialized and would often say things which while Michael and the others could brush off, might rub someone else the wrong way. Like suggesting that they should make some toys out of animal bones and play together. Not exactly something a normal kid suggests.

His sticky fingers were also a whole other deal which Lucy and Michael hadn't anticipated. Having been encouraged by David and the other members of his vampire gang when Laddie had lived with them, he'd developed the nasty habit of thinking stealing and picking pockets was a perfectly fine thing to do.

You wouldn't be able to tell looking at him sitting in the other window seat next to Sam who had been forced into the middle seat begrudgingly. His longer hair had been cut short into something less wild by Lucy, and dressed in a striped tennis shirt and a pair of cargo shorts. Looks can be deceiving, but Michael hoped that the little shrimp would be able to figure out the ins and outs of being in a normal school with a normal family.

"Look! We're almost there," Michael was pulled out of his thoughts by his mom pointing to the giant sign which marked the town of Hawkins, Indiana. Just another thirty minutes and they'd be there.

"Great 'cause I've really got to pee," Sam groaned while adjusting himself in his seat. He really did look uncomfortable.

"You always need to pee, it's like you don't have a bladder just made of pee."

"Laddie that's gross," Laddie giggled looking up from the colouring book he'd been working on at Sam's disgusted expression. Michael couldn't help but crack a small smirk at the little display.

"Why are you smiling? I can't help it. I have the bladder I'm born with."

"I didn't say anything Sam," Michael held up his hands in a defensive manner.

"You don't need to, I can see it on your face," Sam said shoving Michael's leg over, "and can you please stay out of my space, I'm crushed sitting here."

"The middle seat is the death seat in a car. Means your the most likely to die in a crash," Still working on his colouring book, Laddie weighed in.

"No it's not, that's the passenger seat dumbass."

"Sam, language."

"Yes it is."

"No it's not."

"Yes, it is."

"Christ! I can't take being in this car anymore with you, your so annoying," Sam groaned exasperatedly. Laddie looked over once again and blew a raspberry at Sam, which seemed to be the last straw.

Sam lunged over to Laddie's side of the seat and grabbed him, in the process kicking Michael in the shin and causing him to involuntarily knock into the back of Star's seat. Lucy jolted from the sudden burst of action in the back seat, slightly swerving the car on the road, nearly sending them into a patch of bushes alongside the road.

"Sam, what the hell!" Michael grabbed his brother and pulled him back from Laddie who was still giggling like this was somehow all a big joke he'd been responsible for.

" I swear to god, I'm gonna kill him!" Sam shouted struggling in Michael's grasp, kicking his shin again and causing him to grunt out.

"What is happ-" Star was cut off when the car came to an abrupt break-squealing halt, jerking everyone in their seats.

"That is enough!" Lucy yelled, causing everyone to fall silent. Turning in her seat to face the boys sitting in the back, all looking at her with slightly frightened eyes.

Lucy doesn't yell much, so Michael knew she'd just about had it if she was this angry right now.

"This behaviour is unacceptable. You've managed to sit with each other comfortably for most of the ride."

"Define comfortable," Sam grumbled under his breath.

"Sam. I don't want to hear it. Your supposed to be the older sibling in this situation, you don't attack your brother like that. Especially not when I'm driving!"

"Yeah, except he's not my brother," Laddie's eyes then became downcast. Michael noticed the now mischievous smile was wiped from his face replaced by something a lot darker. Michael didn't have a moment to really process this before Laddie had thrown open the door and ran out.

"Laddie!" Lucy called out after him frightened.

"Great, look what you did," Star said giving Sam a stern look before getting out of the car quickly to chase after Laddie.

Sam didn't say anything in response to this. Michael could tell that part of him felt conflicted with what he'd just said, but another part was to petulant to admit fault. Michael rolled his eyes and got out of the car to go after Star and Laddie, leaving Sam alone with his mom to get a stern talking to which he very much deserved.

Tensions had been high between everyone, but sometimes Michael didn't understand why Sam would say the things he would, especially when they all wanted the same thing. A normal life.

Star had stopped Laddie in the middle of the road. He'd run until she'd caught up to him and held him in her arms. As Michael got closer he could see that she was whispering to him, little things like that it was going to be okay and that he was her little brother.

Michael came around to face Laddie, crouching to be level with him. His face was already tearstained from when they started falling, most likely as soon as he ran out of the car.

"Hey," Michael said softly, giving Laddie a moment. Star slowly stopped whispering to him and looked over to Michael. He kept his focus on the younger boy with his painfully sad expression.

"Sam didn't mean it you know," reaching out, Michael brushed some of the tears from Laddie's face.

"He just doesn't know how to deal with not being the youngest, he's easily irritated and a bit of an ass."

"He did," it came out as a whisper, barely audible to Michael at first.

"He did," Laddie said a little louder. "He did mean it."

Michael didn't really know what to say to convince Laddie at this point. Sam really did sound like he meant what he said, and he rarely said something he didn't mean when he was angry.

"Look, Laddie, your my brother, and that's not gonna change," Michael watched as the boy slowly met his gaze.

"Give Sam time, he's just annoyed from being stuck in the car, he really does like you. You want to try going back to the car?"

"You can switch seats with me and sit in the front for a bit?" Star suggested, giving Laddie's shoulders a little hopeful squeeze.

"Okay," He said, using the back of his hands to brush the tears away from his face and sniffled. As the three of them made their way back to the car, Michael saw Sam now sitting in his window seat looking out into the endless dense forest.

Lucy had rolled down her window and leaned out looking down at Laddie with one of those sympathetic and genuinely concerned maternal expressions she was a pro at giving.

"Hey kiddo, you doing alright?" Laddie merely nodded in response.

"We were thinking he could sit up front with you for the rest of the ride," Star said.

"Great. You can hold the town map and help me navigate the rest of the way to the house. I know you're great with directions," Lucy smiled down at him, getting Laddie to return it with a smile just as enthusiastic, before bounding over to the passenger side of the car to get in and unfold the map. Before Michael could make his way into the back, Lucy stopped him by placing her hand on his arm as he passed her window.

"Michael, honey could you talk to Sam when we get to the new house. I think he could use a talk with you right now." As she expressed this Michael looked back over to his younger brother sitting in the backseat.

They'd all been through a lot, but Sam seemed to be taking really hard in a much more expulsive way. His fights with Laddie had only expounded these already existent cracks which Michael had started to notice in Sam's composure. Ever since their little adventure in Santa Carla, and Sam nearly losing Michael forever to the vampire gang he'd been seeing these cracks starting to form. The cracks that represented something which was slowly breaking his younger brother down.

Eventually Michael knew, he had to talk to Sam about it. However, how and when was going to be the real challenge. For now focusing on making it to their new home was what Michael wanted to focus on.

Please let this town be normal. Please let this be just what we need. Michael thought to himself. He was pretty sure there was going to be nothing which could be worse then their experience in Santa Carla. Nothing which could even hold a candle.

Hawkins was sure to be the perfect place to start fresh.

It’s postponed at the moment, it hasn’t started at the moment. But the bottom row’s RP has started. That RP’s Kiwironpa: Rebirth. 18 people from different times and worlds noclip out of reality, and find themselves in the Backrooms, which holds not just deadly monsters that could kill them, but also a Killing Game. . . In this, none of the characters have Ultimates, but the general consensus is the same. It’s recently start, and so far it’s been a blast lol. PeterGwen and PeterMJ are the big ones, along withPeterFelicia, but he’s had a number of relationships over the years – CissieIronwood (Marvel Team Up vol1 #80-81, #90, Annual #2), Marcy Kane, Deb Whitman,an implied casual hookup with his neighbor Bambi, a thing with his work wife,reporter Joy Mercado – okay this one didn’t actually happen-happen,but it happened in my heart, and they did kiss. I love her and will refer toher as his work wife forever. But let’s start at the beginning, since you askedabout Liz Allan. PeterMJ and PeterGwen are considered the big Spider-Man lovetriangle, but Peter was involved in plenty of romantic drama before either MaryJane or Gwen was ever introduced on the page. One of the big things I loveabout Spider-Man are how, even after the romantic relationships are over, theseries lets its female characters continue to have big roles in Peter Parker’slife, and that’s the case with both Betty Brant and Liz Allan, the leadingladies of the original Spider-Man love triangle. PeterLiz is athing, although it’s very different from the way the MCU portrayed it, so let’sstart there.

Liz Allan: Liz is one of the longest running Spider-Mancharacters and one of the few to debut in Amazing Fantasy #15 along with Peterhimself, Flash Thompson, Aunt May and Uncle Ben. While Peter initially had acrush on Liz, who was at the time dating Flash Thompson (everyone in theSpider-Man friend group has dated everyone at one point or another), Peter soongot over it when he met J Jonah Jameson’s secretary Betty Brant – only for Lizto develop a crush on Peter after. She openly flirted with him, causingtensions between Peter and Betty and Peter and Flash both.

(Amazing Spider-Man #17)

Liz faded out of the picture for a bit after confessing her feelings to Peter at their high school graduation in Amazing Spider-Man #28, only to make her return in Amazing Spider-Man #132, when Peter encounters her wandering the streets exhausted and troubled over her step-brother, Max Raxton, the Molten Man, a one-time supervillain who would later reform.

Liz later met Harry Osborn at Betty Brant’s wedding and the two quickly fell in love and got married. (Everyone in Spider-Man has been involved with everyone in Spider-Man.) They have one son together, Norman Osborn Jr. They probably should have thought on that name a little more. (Harry has a second child with a woman named Lily Hollister.)

(Amazing Spider-Man Annual #17 – everyone in Spider-Man has also made out with everyone in Spider-Man, regardless of relationship status.)

Peter and Mary Jane even lived in the same building as Liz and Harry for a while, up until Harry’s death (long story – he got better). Liz took over Oscorp in the wake of Harry’s death, briefly had a relationship with Daredevil’s Foggy Nelson, and eventually became CEO of Alchemax. Recently, she and Harry got back together in Amazing Spider-Man #789.

Some Liz issues:

Amazing Spider-Man #1-28: Liz has moments scattered all through the high school years, including ASM #6, where she develops a crush on Spider-Man, ASM #17, where she schemes to get Peter to attend a meeting of the Spider-Man fan club, ASM #25 when she first meets Mary Jane, ASM #26 where she breaks up a fight between Peter and Flash, and ASM #28 where she confesses her feelings for Peter.

Webspinners #9: A more modern Spider-Man high school flashback, Peter finds himself in trouble when he accidentally ends up with both Liz and Betty believing they’re going to prom with him. An excellent look at how smothered and trapped Liz felt as a teenager.

Amazing Spider-Man #132-133: Liz makes her reappearance.

Amazing Spider-Man #153: Liz asks Harry out, starting their relationship.

Amazing Spider-Man#166: Liz and Harry announce they’re getting married.

Amazing Spider-Man #172-180: When Liz is arrested for attempted robbery, she temporarily leaves Harry, believing herself no good for him.

Spectacular Spider-Man #85: Liz announces she’s pregnant.

Amazing Spider-Man #260-263: Mary Jane and a heavily pregnant Liz are kidnapped. Harry, in an attempt to rescue them, ends up captured as well. Later, Liz gives birth to her and Harry’s son.

Spectacular Spider-Man #178-184, #189-190, #200, #204: The Child Within/The Harry Osborn Saga. Haunted by his father’s evil legacy and poisoned by the belief that Peter killed his father, Harry spirals back into the Green Goblin and Liz’s family falls apart. The Child Within (Spectacular Spider-Man #178-184) is one of my favorite storylines of all time, a truly haunting read. Content warning for childhood abuse, including childhood sexual abuse, not of Harry but definitely paralleled against Norman’s abuse of Harry. In #189-190, Harry kidnaps Liz, Normie, and Liz’s stepbrother Mark. Spectacular Spider-Man #200 is the death of Harry Osborn, and in my personal opinion one of if not THE most stunning comic book issue of all time. In #204, Liz and friends receive Harry’s video will.

Peter Parker #75: Norman Osborn returns from the dead and threatens Liz. Also has some good Liz&Flash content.

Marvel Knights Spider-Man #7: Peter and Liz attend Midtown High’s reunion.

Amazing Spider-Man #581-582: Harry Osborn, returned from the dead, attempts to right some wrongs for Liz.

Amazing Spider-Man #789, #799-800: Liz and Harry rekindle their romance, only to have their children kidnapped. Cards on the table: I hate this story arc and think it’s terrible! But I do love every panel with Liz in it, so, that’s the toss up.

Liz has also made some recent appearances in Eddie Brock’s Venom series.

Betty Brant: Like Liz, Betty’s one of the longest running Spider-Man cast members. The title of Spider-Man’s first girlfriend is commonly and erroneously granted to Gwen Stacy, but Peter actually first dated Betty Brant in 616. First appearing in Amazing Spider-Man #4, Betty worked as J Jonah Jameson’s secretary and she and Peter quickly became close.

(Amazing Spider-Man #7 – another common error is assuming Peter’s always been awkward/shy around girls. “Nothing, baby… for at least an hour!” Smooth.)

(Amazing Spider-Man #11)

Betty and Peter’s relationship wasn’t without its own issues, though. Betty was jealous of Liz’s flirtations with Peter, but things really came to a head when her brother, Bennett Brant, was murdered. Betty blamed Spider-Man for his death, and Peter felt that this meant he could never tell her his secret identity. They still continued the relationship, complicated by the appearance of Ned Leeds, a reporter for the Daily Bugle who was also interested in Betty. Though she loved Peter more, Ned seemed to offer Betty the stability she craved. After his high school graduation, Peter planned to propose to Betty (yes, at age eighteen, with a part time job, and still living in his aunt’s home, he planned to propose, because Peter Parker LOVES proposing) but things didn’t go as planned.

(Amazing Spider-Man #30)

After a long engagement, Betty finally married Ned Leeds in Amazing Spider-Man #156. The two left for France, where Ned was on assignment. Ned worked long hours and Betty found herself completely isolated, alone in a country where she didn’t speak the language. She left Ned and returned to New York, where her and Peter’s feelings for each other were rekindled.

(Amazing Spider-Man #189)

Peter and Betty’s affair was short-lived after Ned returned. While he and Betty attempted to reconcile their marriage, it continued to deteriorate, and Betty sought comfort in Flash Thompson, who had at this point become one of Peter’s closest friends. The two would have an on-again, off-again relationship for years, and through it all Betty’s remained one of Peter’s most important relationships.

Venom (2011): Betty’s a major character for most of thebeginning of Flash’s Venom run, through issue #21 – Flash’s secret status asAgent Venom threatens their relationship. Also her brother shows back up! Youknow, the dead one. Comics, they do that.

Amazing Spider-Man Annual #42: I don’t like the plot ofthis issue, but it is some of the most recent Peter&Betty interaction, andthe opening scene features them at a fortune teller’s parlor and it is verycute.

All you need to know for streaming entry’s Tuesday arrival

The Disney+ streaming service will make you feel like a kid again with “That’s So Raven” and “Boy Meets World.” USA TODAY

Tuesday is another big decision day for streaming video fans with the arrival of Disney’s new subscription service, Disney+.

This day has been long in the making for Disney. The entertainment powerhouse began pulling back its content from competitors such as Netflix two years ago in preparation for launching its own direct-to-consumer offering. And Disney’s $71 billion acquisition of the Fox movie and TV studios, which closed earlier year, bolstered the home of Mickey Mouse’s catalog of content with prizes such as “Avatar” and “The Simpsons.”

With Disney+ ($6.99 monthly or $69.99 for one year) going live Tuesday, what does a binging buff need to know?

How to watch Disney+

You can connect via broadband on streaming devices such as Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Roku and Google Chromecast, plus game consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Smart TVs from LG and Samsung, as well as Sony TVs with built-in Android TV operating system, will connect, as will iOS and Android smartphones and other mobile or portable devices.

With a subscription, you can stream on up to four devices simultaneously and download videos to watch on the go. Each account can have seven different profiles and parents can create a kids profile to limit viewing to age-appropriate content.

If you have a 4K TV, some of the new service’s movies will be available in that higher-resolution format and will support high-dynamic range (HDR), which provides improved contrast, richer colors and increased detail.

What does Disney+ have to watch?

At the outset, Disney+ will have 10 new, original TV series and movies exclusive to the service. Among those available Tuesday: “The Mandalorian,” a live-action Star Wars series set after “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi,” and “Lady and the Tramp,” a live-action movie starring real dogs in a reboot of the 1955 animated classic.

Also available: “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” “The World According to Jeff Goldblum,” the Christmas film “Noelle,” starring Anna Kendrick and Bill Hader, and “Forky Asks a Question,” starring Forky, the animated character in Pixar’s “Toy Story 4.”

Of course, Disney’s service has a stocked library of animated classics such as “Bambi,” “Cars,” “Fantasia,” “Finding Nemo,” “Frozen,” “Lady and the Tramp,” “The Little Mermaid,” “The Incredibles,” “Toy Story” and “Wall-E.”

Then there’s the entire original Star Wars saga sitting on Disney+’s digital shelf, which will add “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” after its theatrical run (in theaters Dec. 20), and pay-per-view period. For now, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and “Solo: A Star Wars Story” remain on Netflix, due to deals made years ago.

The service will also be the exclusive streaming home of Disney, Pixar, and Marvel studios films, meaning if you are a Marvel movie junkie this is the only way to Marvel movies such as “Iron Man,” “Thor: The Dark World,” “Avengers: Endgame,” and “Captain Marvel.” (As with the Star Wars movies, there’s a few Marvel films such as “Avengers: Infinity War” that remain on Netflix for now, but all Marvel and Star Wars films will eventually come to Disney+.)

Disney and Pixar movies arriving soon include “Dumbo,” “Aladdin,” “Toy Story 4,” “The Lion King,” “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil,” and “Frozen 2” (in theaters Nov. 22).

There’s also TV series such as “Duck Tales,” “Kim Possible,” “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse,” “Stars Wars: The Clone Wars,” and “That’s So Raven.”

‘The Mandalorian’: How Disney+ ‘Star Wars’ spinoff amps up Western grit with guns and droids

Streaming skirmish: Disney+ streaming service will lose some of its own titles to Netflix

How many streaming services can I handle?

Many folks are asking themselves just that. Disney+ debuts less than two weeks after the arrival of Apple+. Tthe iPhone maker’s own subscription service ($4.99 monthly or one year free with device purchase) debuted with eight original series including “The Morning Show,” with Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carell, and “See,” a sci-fi action series with Jason Momoa (“Aquaman”).

These latest entries join the dozens of major streaming services already available and the 300 or so total seeking to woo subscribers. And there’s more services on the way from AT&T (HBO Max), and Comcast/NBCUniversal (Peacock).

However, Disney+ arrives already in a position of strength due to its loyal fan base and “a content library that is unmatched,” said Wedbush Securities analyst Daniel Ives in a recent note to investors.

“We believe there is room for consumers to add 1-2 more streaming services onto their entertainment monthly budgets as the cord cutting theme further takes hold into 2020 with both Apple and Disney in a strong position to find success on this front with others (Peacock, HBO Max) also poised to markedly disrupt the streaming landscape over the next year as a new ‘age of content’ is set to take hold,” Ives said.

In an attempt to simplify things for consumers, Disney is bundling Disney+ with its other two subscription streaming services – Hulu ($5.99, on demand with ads) and ESPN+ ($4.99) – in a $12.99 monthly package, which compares well to Netflix, which has plans at $12.99 for HD and two streams and $15.99 for 4K video and four streams.

New subscribers to Verizon ultimate wireless, FIOS and 5G Home Internet services will also get a free year of Disney+.

‘It was a young man, born in a good family of the lawyer and the titled lady daughter. Since childhood, his life was a regular series of math classes, horseback riding lessons and the noble-gentlemen school visits - he had no chance of raise someone other than a decent boy, possessor of fine aristocratic manners. Obedience made him a son you can be proud of; as a brother and their father, Charlie was prepared for the fate of kingdom servant with all the attendant duties. He was one of those who did not break the rules for nothing and did not indulge whims, if it could tarnish his name. Adults ruined his child's nature, which craved adventure and adrenaline. He thought about the future every minute. He lived his future so much, to forget why he needs it. Looking at Grace, he recalled. He always wanted to be worthy this girl.’

Chelsea Brown

‘Who was Chelsea nobody knew. Girl-freak, crazy classmate with burnt crimson hair, dressed like a bum from the nineties, most of the time she was silent, reacting only to insults. Whoever this girl was, she didn’t get anyone close, never did the first step. She was so scared of idea being simple, standard, cliché; she did everything to avoid people, even when it wasn’t what she really wanted. She was surrounded by those who insulted her, who behaved dishonestly, unfairly, someone who gave her that stupid nickname "fleasy" simply because she brought a sick kitten to school. She didn’t want to be like them but she didn’t knew what to do. It was her way of survival and protection - an incredible aggression, when someone tried to open up her thin material. But in all this movement you could see the grace, which is not available to some true ladies. She was a sick kitten, Chelsea Brown, and no one knew how to help her. She was a beauty, hidden behind the rough clothes. Her eyes were shining, but no one was looking at them. Nobody knew her.’

Zac Sanders

‘His honey eyes shined so brightly you won’t ever overlook this wonderful hunk, even if you do your best. He will find you anyway in the crowd and captivate with his charm, leaving no chance to forget about himself for a long time. It’s like he had beating fountain of youth and beauty inside, and Zack knew how to use it for its intended purpose; for his amorous adventures composed legends, he had the time, effort and ingenuity for everyone. He loved the attention and the girls, but it wasn’t about meanness. Zack was an honest scoundrel, and before he get, he didn’t disdain to give. His passions were not serious and long-lasting; but every lady who has been at least once in the arms of this villain, remained happy and grateful. This was the essence of him - he was a true romantic.’

Emma Morel

‘This little girl kept a greater force inside of her soul than it might seem. At sixteen, Emma was alone and independent - not by choice, but by life circumstances. Nevertheless, it didn’t make her better adapted to the reality which sometimes was very cruel to her. She was the girl who still displays the date in the fields and fills tests with colorful pens. The child at heart, Emma believed that humans can’t be evil by nature, and if they are, they need help. Her help. She always wanted to take care of someone or something, even if she won’t get thanks in the end. She was naive, stubbornly didn’t want to see the dark side of anything, this was her weakness and advantage. Her great warm heart did not protect her from the bloody loneliness, and the pursuit of a righteous life repelled people. It was crazy reserve of love inside of her, but no one thought that even a small proportion of it deserved falling in the dense forest of doubts and prejudices, which were actually… a fear.’

Ethan Kits

‘Such guys as Ethan Kits, can be included in the history of the world frauds. Thousand times teachers could call him an incompetent bummer, but everyone knew that this boy had very… kind of special talent. He was able to twist somebody around his finger. So easy, quickly and accurately, you couldn’t have time to think at all. He was a clever, and what is most important in this skill - charming. Needless to say, Ethan was a dreamboat, the girls went crazy over him. And he was crazy about the feeling of danger and broke the rules for fun, because it gave him a true pleasure. His reputation was buried under the thousands remarks that he took off classmates clothes again, beating them in poker. He loved money and always had them, despite his old shabby converses and dirty backpack. No, he did not like the feeling of wealth and power, he liked the feeling of testing himself for strength. Such as Kits, they called "honest thief", he always used his skills to help his friends. He broke off, ran for help, couldn’t remain indifferent, and any bad company couldn’t change that. He had a dirty conscience, but a pure heart.’

Kim Fisher

‘Kim was a girl who wanted to find herself all the time while she tied high heels buckle and continued to imitate curly hair by burning them with the bleach. She looked at those who were popular, who enjoyed the attention, seemed cooler and did everything to be with them in a same row. She did not understand what is she. She didn’t understand, she doesn’t need any of these victims. She doesn’t need such a vulgar makeup or loud laugh or losing her virginity before the others to feel worthy. She was just a lost little girl, who was looking for attention, which wasn’t given by her parents. She was looking for it in everything, but found only emptiness and disappointment. She was considered as anything - a slut, thoughtless, abnormal; only those who have been with her since the beginning, since the iron braces times, knew how much pain hided Kimberly Fisher.’

Martie Abrams

‘Martie was a boy, a wonk, which cool guys were ashamed to talk. Number of offensive nicknames that were attributed to him, neared to a huge number, and he didn’t dare to protest. Either he was afraid, and because he felt nonsense of any protest. When he ceased to be hated, he ceased to be seen at all. Why? He didn’t do anything for it, blazing feelings to the girl, who looked down on him and get round. Martie, being a loner, was insanely unhappy. But the saddest thing - he didn’t even try to change anything. He didn’t feel the strength to destroy the wall to get out of his comfort zone. Was it justified? Perhaps. Unlike all those "cool guys", he never was what he isn’t. He’s been himself trying to cope with the pain that waited for him at every step. Outcast, geek, nerd, dork. The boy, who wore a sweater that was knitted by his mom for Christmas. He tried to feel his significance and once decided that music could help him.’

Elizabeth 'Liz' Device

‘Elizabeth was a wonderful girl. She had energy for a several military divisions, and the power of her voice amazed even cynics. Self-confident, "proud black woman," as she called herself, Liz realized all her flaws much deeper than she could show it to others. She was still painful to hear insults like "fatty" and felt her insignificance in comparison with the girls in pink dresses, which ran on a date every night. She never showed those feelings. No one even imagined she had such problems. Despite her impulsiveness and emotionality, she’s been doing everything to believe that everything is ok – what could be a better solution? No one wanted to argue with her, which was both useful and sad at the same time. She could let herself tears only with the door closed: for all her friends, Liz was a real sun, which did not cease to shine even in the gloomy days and hit her Beyonce-manners. ‘You've probably seen such girl on the cover of prom albums, with the crown, snow-white smile and perfect blond hair - a typical school queen, a typical girl who was loved by everyone, no exceptions. What distinguishes Olivia - goodness of heart and a lack of vulgarity. She would never have gone to the meanness to achieve goals, never betrayed and lied to get more points, cause she was brought up so – parents, who gave all their warmth, provided her a favorable future. It wasn’t necessary for her to fight for anything and that was her weakness. Olivia was beautiful, decent, quiet and modest; she didn’t say too much, didn’t want to attract the attention and still had it more than any ‘cool girl’. It seemed like she was shy of her own beauty, voice or talent. She did not allow herself to be wrong, till life itself hasn’t given her such opportunity. There were no visible defects in her that prompted doubts in others, who were constantly looking for them. The trick is that they actually didn’t exist. Was it a privilege? You never know.’

Ian Lim

‘In fact, we’re all lucky to know Ian. It was incredibly hard to meet someone amazing in high school, and he was truly amazing lad. Raised in a traditional family with a whole pack of children, he always kept something most of us unknowingly lost - good, warm heart. Unlike many of the guys, he always remembered that before you get into the door, you must put the ladies first, and the importance of giving each of them his hand, when we left the bus. Each one - even 25 times. Having him as a boyfriend must be the greatest gif, but he didn’t think so. Ien was a little bit insecure and shy, and the attempt to get rid of it ended catastrophically. He still resented racist remarks toward him and secretly worried about it. The only thing that makes him feel as free as a bird is the dancing. He danced divinely, we loved to watch him on the floor and secretly hope that he’d pull out some of us and whirl in the air. With him all the complex movements obtained without any effort, because he gave his energy to everyone who took his hand once. He was very kind, honest, clean and nice asian gentleman. I believe we’re truly lucky to know him. ’

Cleo Edwards

‘Cleo was one of those school girls who you probably wouldn't notice in empty room. She talked quietly, moved slow and avoid any contact with the outside world of ruthless teenagers, where she was just a freak and a ghost of little girl who kept her mouth shut 99% of the time. The world she lived in was extremely cruel to Cleo, but she never concealed anger in return and looked it in the eyes with childish delight and fear of being superfluous at the feast, where she still was an uninvited one. Maybe this was a real reason of hiding a bunch of talents she had - from sports to singing, from dancing to being an excellent friend, daughter and pupil. She distorted her voice, been panically afraid to join the ranks of cheerleading and admitted herself that she is a little bit different in her preferences and tastes. The realization that being different is normal and even cool was the hardest decision in Cleo's life before she entered the vocal club’.

Chip 'Chipa' Wilkinson

‘Chipa was the shiniest boy in a school where everything faded year by year. Short, a little plump - he looked like an eccentric in any company, but had such a bright and loud charisma that always gave him a lot of friends, even among those cool guys from basketball team. Making joke of himself, he became a school meme with those funny nickname 'Cookie' he was called since childhood. He allowed everybody to do that with him. Somehow still he was hurt while nobody was watching; he never dreamed of having friends from bascketball team. Well, everything he ever wanted was to become a basketball player himself. Everybody told he was too short, too fat, too ugly - so Chipa decided to be the coolest of the ugliest, shortest, fattest. He found his own way of healing - and that was the greatest power of that shiny boy'.
