are there any spidey comic recs you have for joy mercado? i don't really know much about her but she seems cool
I love Joy Mercado. I'd say I wish she'd make a big comeback but given the state of Spider-Man comics, it's probably better if she doesn't. (Bring back Peter's work wife in a different, better world.)
Here's a very basic list of recommended issues for her, but tbh she's not in a lot of comics altogether. You can check out the full list of her appearances here at the Marvel Comics Reading Order.
My recommendations:
Moon Knight #30: A rec with a bit of a caveat. This is Joy's first appearance, and I think it's interesting from that perspective, but it's not a comic I love. I think the character doesn't really shine until she's brought into the Spider-Man cast. (This is her only Moon Knight appearance, iirc.)
Spectacular Spider-Man Annual #5: This is Joy's first appearance in a Spider-Man comic and her first meeting with Peter.

Mark Beachum, the artist, didn't draw a ton for Spider-Man, but I'm in love with the work he did. His body language really goes a long way to establishing Joy as a character right off the bat. The banter between her and Peter is really fun, too.
Spectacular Spider-Man #111: This is part of Secret Wars II, and not required reading for Joy (generally I don't like dropping people in the middle of bigger crossover stories), but she goes dancing with Peter and he flirts with her and it's cute. If he's not married they should let him be a slut again.
Spectacular Spider-Man #112: Peter and Joy kiss under the mistletoe. Honestly I love this issue in general, it's one of my favorite Marvel Christmas stories.
Tumblr media
Also how great is that fluffy light blue coat? Beachum's on art again and he's got some really fun MJ and Felicia pinup art in this one, too. (It is very cheesecake, just as a warning. I know not everyone's into that.)
Spectacular Spider-Man #113: I always find this issue super interesting, because it's obviously a take on the Bernie Goetz case, except like, if Bernie Goetz had been a boarder at Aunt May's house. (At this point in canon Aunt May was running a boarding home for senior citizens, which was pretty fun.) It's like, not subtle -- the character's name is Ernie for crying out loud. Anyway, when Kate Cushing, who I also miss dearly, and Joy find out that Ernie is staying at Aunt May's house, they send Peter in to get the story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joy's also in Spectacular Spider-Man #115, which is an issue I really like, but I think her involvement is mostly just sitting there looking cute at Kate's desk.
Missing in Action (Web of Spider-Man #16-17, Amazing Spider-Man #279, Web of Spider-Man #18): Peter and Joy go out on a job together, only for Peter to mysteriously go missing. Fun art on this one!
Tumblr media
Web of Spider-Man #19-23 also has some Joy content. I haven't reread this stretch in a while, though, so I'm spotty on the details.
Tumblr media
(Web of Spider-Man #20) Let him be a slut again!
Amazing Spider-Man #314: Joy's in this very briefly when newly married Peter and MJ are kicked out of their apartment at Christmas.
There's a lot of minor and background appearances past this point, which are fun and which you can find on the linked CMRO page at the top of this reclist, but Joy kind of eventually takes a backseat to Betty in the work wife position. And obviously I love Peter and Betty, but he and Joy had some really fun chemistry and her cutthroat reporter bit was always a lot of fun. I miss a lot of the Bugle's lesser known female characters, like Angela Yin and Kate Cushing.

Hey there, just wanted to ask if you've seen a Spider-Man fan film called the Spider. It just came out last week. It's like mixing Spider-Man with the Fly (1986).
I haven't! I'm not really up to date on fan films, unfortunately. But it sounds like a really cool premise so I'll try and check it out!

hi! sorry to bother you about something like this, but i've looked everywhere and just can't find it. do you happen to have that panel of peter being upset girls only like him for his brain/personality and not his looks? it's quite old (i'm thinking ditko?) and i'm pretty sure he was talking to either liz or betty in it.
Hi anon! I've got it, no worries.

Amazing Spider-Man #36. You were right, it is Ditko, although it's one of his last issues. John Romita Sr would take over on art in ASM #39, and Peter would start getting a little more appreciation for his looks instead of JUST his incredible intelligence. Terrible of him. This is actually post-Betty and Liz, since Peter's just started college and they're both temporarily out of the picture, and right at the beginning of the Gwen romance when things are still hilariously rocky. I don't believe this girl, Sal, ever shows up again. It's pretty funny that Peter is going "won't ANYONE ever appreciate me for my LOOKS and ATHLETICISM" while Sal's thinking about how he's got a dreamy smile.

every few months some annoying motherfucker makes a post asking why it's called 'spirk' instead of 'spork' or 'kock' and the short, easy answer is: spirk is already the silly ship name, the og ship name is 'k/s' and the og og ship name is 'the premise', because spirk is a ship so old that it was around before ship names were invented. now never come into my house again.

the humble "like" is oft mocked despite what it does for us. "like, three people" is a vastly different statement from "three people". "and i was like 'what the fuck'" is vastly different from "and i said 'what the fuck'". i love you "like" and anyone who says you make people sound stupid will be killed on sight

I'm on a tumblr break but I came back to cite this because I would literally never lie about the Chameleon confessing his love to Peter on the bridge where Gwen died. It is SUCH a moment. (cw for suicide.)
It's in Webspinners: Tales of Spider-Man #11, but the story starts in #10. I really recommend flipping through Webspinners on the whole -- it's a bit of a mixed bag, quality-wise, but issue #1 contains The Kiss as a backup story, which is one of my favorite PeterGwen comics, and it also just kind of represents why Spider-Man should have eighteen different books because then you're allowed to have weird little books with smaller stories where Peter sees Gwen's ghost and the narration says "beautiful, benevolent smile. you never really told her, not really. tell her." (#12) haunting. if you have eighteen different titles, you can take risks and get melancholy, it doesn't have to be all punching all the time and bigger villains.
And ALSO the Chameleon says he's in love with Peter.
They need to bring back Emma Roberts in a Madame Web sequel where she plays Mary Parker the spy who was held in a gulag for twenty years. but she’s actually a robot. it’s funnier if they still can’t mention Peter Parker actually.

When was someone gonna tell me "If I was not a holy woman I would beat you senseless." Was from Scared Stones. I have used that line so much as a religious woman myself, when was someone gonna tell me it was from an old video game. WHEN
