So, about this “child of destiny” thing—

I’m guessing that we, the Player, are once again going to be the protagonist of Missing Link, playing out the “second life” of our protagonist from Union Cross. During the game we hear of this “Child of Destiny” prophecy, and as it progresses, things start to become so dire that the Player deems it necessary to “jumpstart” the prophecy and create the Child of Destiny by taking a promising young child and raising him on Destiny Islands. However, this child, believing with unwavering faith all his life that he is this Chosen One, becomes a master of Darkness rather than Light, thus becoming Mom and Luxu’s “scapegoat”—playing into the idea that one cannot manipulate or puppet fate artificially. And given the description of the Child of Destiny in the prophecy, the most obvious candidate seems to be Sora.

But, on another note, this has me wondering—is the prophecy actually genuine? Or is it, perhaps, something created artificially? After all, before it was mentioned in Dark Road, this is the first time we’ve ever heard it mentioned. Where would it have come from? I suppose it could have been written in the Book of Prophecies, but honestly, that seems unlikely—if it was in there, it makes no sense that it was never mentioned in Union Cross. Since we don’t to our knowledge have any other sources for prophecy, it seems at least a possibility that this prophecy was created in the hope that it would fulfill itself via someone’s belief that it would come to pass. The most likely candidate to do this, I think, is Brain—he is in possession of the Book of Prophecies, so he could easily claim that as a source, and he has expressed a desire to defy the fate set out for them within its pages. And, if we, the Player, truly are the protagonist in Missing Link, we’re the perfect candidate to attempt to fulfill this Prophecy—after all, we never read the Book, and we trust Brain completely, so of course we’d try to see the prophecy to fruition.

The other option is that the prophecy is something created by MoM and/or Luxu. I can’t think of any real motive for this, aside from perhaps finding an exceptional Keyblade wielder of Light to defeat the remaining vessels that hold True Darkness. Additionally, as I said earlier, in the Secret Reports, Xehanort is referred to as their “scapegoat,” which further implies their pulling of the strings.

A hospital for women, that literally that was created to deal with just women’s health, that I’ve had to go to in the past as well as have group therapy held at, sent me a letter today. Me, a single, childless AFAB person with internal organs that cannot support the growth of children or produce what is needed to creative life. All of this which is in my files, none of this is a secret to the WOMAN’S HOSPITAL! And what to they send me today? An invitation to join a mother’s group, as long as I’m over 18 and have a child between the ages of 6 and 10 that has emotional issues. Because you know, as someone who is medically incapable of having children, sending me that is perfectly sane, fantastic idea!
