Untitled. Part one.
Summary: Deacon wants to introduce his girlfriend to his kids.
Note: Reader is a fashion model in her twenties. Deacon and Annie only have three kids. To be honest I like him and the reader together and I see potential. I mean, jealousy from Annie's side or her coming up with the idea that Deac is experiencing some midlife crisis, the kids hating/loving her, the team finding out they're together, she gets into trouble and he has to save our protect her...
Warning: age gap, afab!reader.
PS: I told you I can't stop.
Tumblr media
Danica, the lead makeup artist of the photo shoot came over to you with a wide grin on her face, quickly sending the others away so she could tell you an important piece of gossip. You returned her smile as you leaned closer to listen, expecting something about the model who caused some chaos by not showing up.
But she remained silent for a little too long, and you began to assume it was about something else. And just like that, your suspicion was proven right when she finally spoke up. “There's a handsome silver fox outside with a police badge and he's looking for you. Jack is trying to convince him to leave if it's not related to an investigation, though, so if he belongs to you…”
“Oh, yes, he's mine,” you were quick to say with a bright smile. “Thanks for the heads-up, I'll talk to Jack.”
She nodded before gently patting you on the shoulder, giving you the green light to leave. Your makeup was done, it was only your hair that they had to finish before you could stand in front of the camera. They could surely survive five minutes without you, so you rushed out of the building to find your boyfriend and hopefully tell the head of security that there was nothing to worry about.
When your eyes finally fell on Deacon, you couldn't help but gulp from the sight. He was wearing a suit, something you always pointed out looked good on him, and when he noticed you, his face immediately lit up. You had been together for three months now, so this was probably the honeymoon phase making you this happy around each other, but you truly hoped things would stay this way.
His marriage ended shortly before you met thanks to Chris, and back then he wasn't ready to make a move on someone. But months later you met again on a night out with the team and he finally made up his mind to ask for your number. Long story short, he swept you off your feet with ease, and even the age difference wasn't enough to stop you from being happy together.
“Jack, he's with me. Can you let him in?” you asked with a sweet smile.
The man let out a sigh then gestured to him that he was allowed to enter the premises under your watch. Deacon leaned down to kiss the top of your head, already knowing better than to ruin your makeup, then took your hand and led you a little further away from people.
“Don’t get me wrong, I'm glad you're here, but why did you come? Did something happen?” you asked worriedly.
He was quick to reassure you with a shake of his head. “I just wanted to see you. But there's a change in the plans. Annie called; something came along and I'll have the kids over tonight,” he told you.
If he had the kids over, it meant your planned date had to be canceled. It sucked, but you were okay with it. His kids would always come first, and you liked that about him. He loved them more than anything, and it was nice to see how well he and his ex got along after the divorce. Were you jealous of their relationship? Yes, some days it was hard, but you knew they had a history together. You can't delete so many years with a piece of paper that proved you weren't together anymore.
“Raincheck?”
Deacon's smile returned as he watched you. “No. Come over tonight and meet the kids,” he suggested casually. You bit on your lower lip and avoided his gaze, showing the tell tale signs of your insecurity. “Hey, it's okay. I want them to finally meet you. Actually, I think Lila would love you. I was going through some photos of you the other day and there was this stunning picture of you wearing a purple gown. When she saw that, she said you looked like a princess and got all excited, saying she wanted to dress like that too.”
It was hard to hold back a laugh. You could imagine a young girl going nuts over the idea of wearing gowns every single day, and you could also imagine the way he was torn between smiling at his daughter and wishing she would just go to sleep.
Despite your good mood, you still didn't know if you were ready. Meeting the kids was a big step, one that he wanted to happen sooner than it would naturally occur. So you took a deep breath and stepped away, dragging him along as you walked back inside the building. Maybe if he began to focus on seeing you work, he would forget about this idea.
While Henry styled your hair, Deacon leaned against a table with his arms folded over his chest as he watched you. “You don't want to meet them,” he suddenly said. When you let out a sigh and tore your gaze away from him, he nodded. “At all or just yet?”
“It's too soon, Deac,” you admitted. “Look, we've only been together for a few months. I love you, you know that, but I don't think I'm ready for their questions. I need some time to figure out how to talk to kids first. I don't know anything about that, I don't have the experience, and–”
With a small smile on his face he came closer and signaled the hair stylist the step aside for a second. When you gave him a worried look, he just leaned down to place a light kiss on your temple. “Okay, okay, I get it. I love you too, no matter when you meet them. I can give you advice, don't worry, then we'll wait until you're ready,” he assured you.
“Lovebirds, I hate to interrupt, but if you're not ready in ten minutes, they will kill you,” Henry said, but then his eyes fell on Deacon's badge. “Not literally, of course.”
“Yeah, I assumed you meant it that way.”

So. I'm not dead UNFORTUNATELY.
But I'm working on it.
Anywho, I'm pretty sure nobody remembers small story i write but i still write it, so as long as i missed so many days... I will try to get to my speed back. So here's a piece. (And yes, i rewrite like one third of this cause what the actual hell)
It's five AM and Eddie's still not home. Buck hates it. Also he hates that it's five AM and he's not sleeping but checking the time and starting to panic. He shouldn't. It's a totally normal situation, Buck is a firefighter himself, so he knows the drill. And that's totally fine Eddie couldn't call. Maybe he should call Maddie? It won't be too strange? Actually, how does she manage this? Chim is also a firefighter and there's a chance he could… That's so lame really they kissed once and somehow Buck got insane. It shouldn't be that way. For example, Buck literally died on the shift. Well, not the best thing to think about right now but if something went wrong he'd be informed, right? Actually no. He's not a relative and basically he's nobody…like, legally speaking. Ok. He can wait a little more, like ten more minutes and then..he can wait a little more and.. The door is opened - he catches the quiet squeak sound and eventually he's in the hallway already ‘Fuck… I kinda hope I can be quiet enough not to wake you up. Sorry…’ Buck loudly exhales feeling so much relieved he can't even describe ‘You're so late for dinner we have only maple syrup ready but if you give me like fifteen minutes I can warm up the lasagna and ‘... He hears Eddie's laughing. ‘It's fine. Go back to bed. I'm not hungry I'm just exhausted’ ‘Coffee? Tea? Are you ok?’ ‘I am.. Buck, did you even sleep? Cause you look more exhausted than me and i have double shift and not so exciting travel through forbidden tunnel with a five years old’ ‘What? Why?’ Eddie smiles ‘Long story. Coffee would be great actually cause I'm not sure it makes sense to sleep before Chris is off to school anyway’ They need to talk, thinks Buck. They definitely need to talk and it could go both ways and it could be a big disaster and he needs to maybe think about it. He tried before he started panicking so now it's hard to recall his thoughts ‘Okay, I'll make some’ ‘You mean, Hildi will make some and hell i hate it when my kitchen appliances smarter than me’ Buck laughs, just can't help it ‘Didn’t you get used to it yet?’ ‘The one and only purpose of the coffee maker is to make coffee. Not checking the weather or giving some advice, so no, I didn't. It's your fault we even have it!’ ‘I know’ ‘So it should have gone with the special guy who can use it properly. You will do’ ‘I will... Wait, what?’ Eddie smiles: ‘We need to talk’. Hell how easier it would be if Buck can see his face now. Probably. On the other hand… no, maybe not. ‘Right. So… maybe coffee first?’ ‘No. I mean… well. There was a moment on this call I was pretty sure I won't get out. And I thought about…things’ What the hell, Eddie, thinks Buck but he says nothing giving Eddie opportunity to finish ‘And I thought… several years ago I had no choice just to survive because I have Chris and I can't leave him. Then.. then you showed up in our lives and I thought well, even if i die Chris won't be alone so it's going to be fine and..’ Buck exhales. Discussion takes unexpected turns, definitely ‘That's not..’, - Buck starts to argue but Eddie scoffs: ‘Today when i stuck in the basement of the warehouse full of explosives i thought that and.. actually, something changed’ ‘What?’ ‘Something connected to you’, - Buck can feel Eddie's smile, he always can feel it but now it just hits differently ‘You don't trust me with Chris anymore?’ ‘What? No, hell, of course no, I trust you with my life. I meant… fuck that's hard maybe you were right and we should have coffee first..’ ‘No, you started this already! So please finish’ ‘I just…oh hell. I broke up with Eric because I don't love him. And you asked how can I be so sure I won't fall in love with him eventually. So here's a deal, I can be sure because I already fell for you.’
Taglist cause i can recall I have one!

The max are the ones who ran the Trinity test program they're the ones who are radiated people and they do try this during construction I am and they like the idea of having multiple crews and different races it's going forward now that they are accepting the plan we haven't even met yet what time the program sheet out I am a whole bunch of might have the same plan so they said that before and it turned out to be Tommy f but in this case it is Tommy Allen and it is the max and they want to move him so they get it they're on it and we are too we see that they're very abusive the time is very loose and they're very arrogant
#the meeting went well and the attendees were all there and the meetings are going in order right now in the second meeting. Everyone had great questions and we had answers and everybody has their own projects we had a list of projects somewhere added and actually a few deleted and a few new ones from businesses and government now I'm going to redo the the dossier there on project manual when you date it and the second meeting the second meeting is going okay we have several questions they're asked why they were in the first meeting then get right down to it didn't want to get picked on and pushed out and not everybody's there in the second meeting and it went well and it's going well but really it's only 10 minutes long
You're the third meeting with Dave he seems a bit hostile when I get pushed out they restated his idea and he said good
Who's getting pieces of meeting even on tape and say it's a real meeting women happy and you came out happy well we hope it's not over yet so they're handling the meeting and it's going on it says it's us just wondering if this company made it and yeah it's in the brochure in the back on manufacturers they like the time frames they don't believe ours so they probably do a mix and probably stick with them and a lot of cases. You like so exciting and he wants to be in the next meetings up front and grab the big iced tea is drinking a lot of it says good is eating something we asked a couple questions it says I'm eating right now no he's trying to answer I don't know the answer that but I'll find out who's number of houses this is like 20 to 30 they said everyone else is doing that and he asked about Tommy f's character I was handling it and he says pretty well it's like 40 houses total it's pretty calm and he needs to have some normalcy in his life sounds so good. So he's happy with that yes what your role is and we don't see him there you should have some kind of role. Like this I got kicked around for a long time we heard it and we heard it and you said yeah we're going to go ahead and do that.. and it's working it's a little tired since a few more swings let's go to the restroom nope is it he's getting a little hydrated yes a few more questions it's almost done. He gets up and thanks for going then he goes off and he's talking to Trump and he says the meeting went well all this stuff is fine and it's about Jasmine but we have to do something to survive and you actually do anything dinner for me tonight and BG I need you to hang on to it for him you can see the movies I have their own Starfleet it's also have infiltrator stuff you need like I was going to storm with people awake and I said what store you didn't test it no Arcadia he said Jesus Christ then what is a ghost. And Dan and Chris are laughing. Hello everyone my drinking it's awesome for a certain one then two and orange juice and some other stuff. Takes the orange juice and drinks at all I did have drinks huh just fear. They're not afraid of people there except for one of them one and a half so we're doing the meeting and he's okay and we're talking about it it says please stop for a minute and he's looking at the brochure and it's reading it and he can't see anything now now as well lit. Is going over stuff and reading it so is there a really really well organized and I told her who and she said she's done before after storms we have two but she has a local flavor area and she's a local person and cares about the area. And he was pleased with that and he's going through it all and reading it and he's looking at things and we're talking about it so it could be a while we have questions and answers and it started it's going to published we'll get back to
Hera
We had a great meeting this is a great idea and what you say is without Jenna it would not have worked as well and you're right she organized it and we weren't going to do that because we want to see if they come together but you know what sometimes people need to see someone cares about it and they women or tired and can't do it anymore. So you getting a little smile and things are getting a little better and we'll see what happens as a woman are coming up we have stuff for them and even a model and see if it works we can start dates as early as this Friday for carrots and tear out and really can do it before that it's process to do it and bugs him all that you have to submit all the stuff it's already Wednesday tomorrow but yeah you're right could be Friday and we can do 10 rounds all week because it's a threat to security and people like it this is garbage crap it's my little project he says they're laughing goods did Michael's responsible man he started laughing and he said not smiling he says this is what it was like he means he organized and actually had his books and I had a project book for my project and he goes you know how he learned it in school and told me to do a project book it's mumbling it was a nice time it was a good childhood but boy the mental hospital is terrible no one should ever be subjected to that and everything backfires and we know about it and smile says we certainly do this will help I don't need to do much but ride my bike around it's a little tiring. So is this me too and we're doing it and we're getting there it looks so older more austere and we're listening so we'll come back in a moment
You're saying it's going good and everybody's listening in attentive and they're getting things done it's a smart idea and we know you came up with it and so did Thor and Freya and several others are helping and he said finally and I've never had a redevelopment meeting and I do understand that you're just trying to get in to get in there and figure out what to do but this really organized it in your system works and thank God he says but that's pretty cool that's pretty cool and we can fill in with a white building and stuff and different contracts will be used but boy what an idea wow even she was amazed this is how is he doing this this better not be magic she came in and she goes out break it it'll never work and sees it and was amazed this is how and the bear wants it in the incentives and she said this guy is full of pork or something and they're talking about it says no it's a group and they're big and they look like Max but we don't think so and foreigners with us and they start laughing and saying we are being invaded yes. So the meeting is going good and we're going to publish

fuck you too
[The episode opens on a picturesque view of a lake surrounded by small islands. The scene is being shot from a t-shaped dock. Then, Chris pops up in frame to address the audience.]
Chris: Yo! We're coming at you live from Camp Wawanakwa, somewhere in Muskoka, Ontario! I'm your host, Chris McLean! Dropping season one of the hottest new reality show on television... right now! Here's the deal, 22 campers have signed up to spend eight weeks right here at this crummy old summer camp. They'll compete in challenges against each other, then have to face the judgement of their fellow campers. Every three days, one team will either win a reward, or watch one of their team members walk down the Dock of Shame. Take a ride on the loser boat, hehe... and leave Total Drama Island for good!
[The camera cuts to a campfire area populated with 11 seats and a firepit. Chris stands in the foreground.]
Chris: Their fate will be decided here, at the dramatic campfire ceremonies where each week, all but one camper will receive a marshmallow.
[Chris takes a break to eat a marshmallow prepared on a skewer.]
Chris: In the end, only one will be left standing and will be rewarded with cheesy tabloid fame and a small fortune, which let's face it, they'll probably blow in a week. To survive, they'll have to battle black flies, grizzly bears, disgusting camp food...
Worm on a Plate: Hey, now.
Chris: ...and each other. Every moment will be caught on one of the hundreds of cameras situated all over the camp. Who will crumble under the pressure? Find out here, right now on... Total... Drama... Island!
[INTRO]
[Theme song]
Dear Mom and Dad I'm doin' fine, You guys are on my mind. You asked me what I wanted to be and now I think the answer is plain to see, I wanna be famous.
I wanna live close to the sun, Go pack your bags, 'cause I've already won, Everything to prove, nothing in my way I'll get there one day. Cause, I wanna be famous!
Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na! I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be famous. I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be famous (Whistling in tune)
[The episode opens back up with Chris standing at end of the Dock of Shame.]
Chris: Welcome back to Total Drama Island. Alright, it's time to meet our first 11 campers. We told them they'd all be staying at this five star resort, so if they seem a little T.O.ed, that's probably why.
[A fancy yacht pulls away from the dock. When it is gone, Beth is shown giddily running up to Chris to envelop him in a massive hug.]
Chris: Beth, what's up?
Beth: It's so incredulous to meet you! Wow, you're much shorter in real life.
Chris: Uh... thanks.
[The boat drops off the next camper. DJ carries two duffel bags, and looks pretty pleased to be here.]
Chris: DJ!
DJ: Yo, Chris McLean! How's it going? ...Hey, you sure you got the right place here? Where's the hot tub at?
Chris: Yo, dawg, this is it. Camp Wawanakwa!
DJ: Humph. Looked a lot different on the application form.
[The next camper to disembark is Gwen. She looks very annoyed.]
Chris: Hey, Gwen.
Gwen: You mean we're staying here?
Chris: No, you're staying here. My crib is an Airstream with AC. That-a-way.
Gwen: I did not sign up for this.
Chris: Actually, you did.
[Chris produces a massive stack of papers, which Gwen promptly takes and tears in half.]
Chris: The great thing about lawyers is... they make lots of copies.
Gwen: I am not staying here.
Chris: Cool. I hope you can swim though, because your ride just left.
[The boat is already leaving to pick up the next camper, honking its horn all the way.]
Gwen: Jerk!
[When the boat returns, Geoff is jamming out on the roof. As the boat stops, he hops off and does a handstand move, landing on the dock. His bag gets thrown off after him and the boat speeds away.]
Geoff: Chris McLean! 'Sup man! It's an honour to meet you, man!
Chris: The Geoff-ster. Welcome to the island, man.
Geoff: Thanks, man.
Gwen: They say "man" one more time, I'm gonna puke.
[The next camper to arrive is Lindsay. She is introduced with dreamy-sounding music.]
Chris: Everybody, this is Lindsay. ...Not too shabby.
Lindsay: Hiiiiiii! Okay, you look so familiar.
Chris: I'm Chris McLean... the host. Of the show.
Lindsay: Oh, that's where I know you from!
Chris: Uh... yeah.
[The next camper that steps onto the dock is Heather. And she already looks like trouble.]
Chris: ...Heather.
[Beth excitedly runs up to Heather.]
Beth: Hi! Looks like we're your new friends for the rest of the next 8 weeks!
[As Beth speaks, she sprays a bit of saliva due to her braces, much to Heather's disgust. They are interrupted by heavy rock music blasting out over the lake, the source being a speaker on the boat. The speaker is being stood on by Duncan, with a scowl etched onto his face. He throws his bag onto the dock, then hops on himself. He looks pissed.]
Chris: Duncan, dude!
Duncan: I don't like surprises.
Chris: Yeah, your parole officer warned me about that, man. He also told me to give him a holler anytime and have you returned to juvie.
Duncan: *sniffs* Okay, then.
[As he makes his way to the other end of the dock, he passes by Heather.]
Duncan: Meet you by the campfire, gorgeous.
Heather: Drop dead, you skeeze!
[Heather walks to the end of the dock.]
Heather: I'm calling my parents. You can not make me stay here!
[Chris just gleefully holds up a copy of the contract Heather signed. The boat honks from across the water and everyone sees Tyler waterskiing behind the boat.]
Chris: Ladies and gentleman... Tyler!
[Tyler waves to the dock, then has his skis ripped out from beneath his feet. He skips across the water and flies over the dock, and everyone present and crashes into the pile of everyone's luggage.]
Everyone (wincing): OOOHHHH!
[One of the bags flies high and drops into the lake. The splash ends up soaking Heather from head to toe.]
Heather: Ugh, my shoes!
Chris: Wicked wipeout, man!
[Tyler shoots an arm out from under the bags and gives Chris a thumbs-up. Heather trudges back to the group, dripping wet. Chris snorts with laughter. A loud sigh is heard, and and Chris turns to greet Harold.]
Chris: Welcome to camp, Harold.
[Harold looks around at the campgrounds.]
Beth: ...What's he looking at?
Harold: ...So, you mean this show is at a crappy summer camp, and not on some big stage or something?
Chris: You got it.
Harold: ...Yes! That is so much more favourable to my skills.
[Chris shudders. The boat drops off another camper.]
Chris: Contestant number nine is Trent.
Trent: Hey, good to meet you man! Saw you on that figure skating show, nice work!
Chris: Hey, thanks man! I knew I rocked that show!
Beth: I saw that! One of the guys dropped his partner on her head, so they got immunity that week.
Harold: Luckyyyy. I hope I get dropped on my head.
Lindsay: Me too!
Trent: ...So, this is it?
[He looks at the group of campers situated on the dock. Heather is still wringing the water out from her hair.]
Trent: ...All righty, then.
[Trent goes to join the rest of the campers. He stands next to Gwen, who turns away with a scowl at first, but then glances with a smile. The next camper the boat drops off is Bridgette, who carries a surfboard.]
Bridgette: Hey, what's up?
Chris: Alright, our surfer chick, Bridgette, is here!
Duncan: *snorts* Nice board. This ain't Malibu, honey.
Bridgette: I thought we were going to be on a beach.
Chris: We are!
[The camera cuts to a... beach? It's populated by old tires, empty cans, metal waste barrels, and a seagull with a six-pack ring stuck around its neck, which is quickly washed out of frame by the waves. It's... better than nothing.]
Bridgette: *sighs* Great.
Chris: All right! That makes-
[Bridgette bends down to get her luggage, and unknowingly whacks Chris on the head with her surfboard.]
Chris: Owwww, darn it! That hurt!
Bridgette: Hey, guys.
Geoff: Heey! I'm Geoff.
[Geoff feels the need to move behind Bridgette to greet her, and as she turns, she almost knocks the campers with her board.]
Bridgette: What's up?
Harold: Dang! Watch the board, man.
Beth: Hi! I'm Beth!
Bridgette: Hey!
[Bridgette turns to greet Beth and almost knocks the campers again.]
Heather (impatient): Okay, we've all met Surfer Girl. Can we get on with the show, please?
Duncan: Someone missed their double cappuccino macchiato this morning.
Heather: Get bent.
[The boat drops off Noah next, and he just looks like a massive bummer. Chris is still rubbing his head from where Bridgette hit him.]
Chris: Our... next camper is Noah!
Noah: You got my memo about my life-threatening allergies?
Chris: I'm sure someone did!
Noah: Good. Is this where we're staying?
Duncan: No, it's your mother's house. And we're throwing a party.
Noah: Cute. Nice piercings, original. Do them yourself?
Duncan: Yeah, you want one?
[Duncan grabs Noah's lip and holds out a needle.]
Noah (mumbled): Uh, no thanks. Can I have my lip back please?
[Duncan lets go of Noah.]
Noah: Thanks.
[The next camper to arrive is Leshawna.]
Leshawna: What's up, ya'll? Leshawna's in the house!
[Harold is positively starstruck by Leshawna.]
Leshawna: Yo baby! Hey, how you doin'? How's it goin'?
[As she walks to the end of thewdock, Leshawna gives Chris a high five.]
Leshawna: Feel free to quit now, save yourselves the trouble, 'cause I came to win! Oh, what's up my brother, give me some sugar, baby!
[Leshawna gives DJ a high five.]
Harold: I've never seen a girl like you in real life before.
Leshawna: Excuse me?
Harold: You're real big... and loud.
Leshawna: What did you say to me?! Oh, no you didn't! You have not seen anything yet! I'll show you "big", baby!
[Leshawna moves in on Harold, and has to be restrained by DJ and Bridgette. Harold retaliates by making some sort of Karate Kid-esque move.]
Leshawna: Oh yeah, you want some of this?! Well, come on then!
Chris: All right, campers! Settle down.
[DJ and Bridgette let go of Leshawna, who fixes her shirt. She shoots a look at Harold, who just smiles back. The next contestant, or rather, contestants to be dropped off are Katie and Sadie. They wear matching outfits and carry matching luggage.]
Chris: Ladies, Sadie, Katie. Welcome to your new home for eight weeks.
[The camera cuts to the cabin grounds. Flies buzz everywhere. But Katie and Sadie don't care. In fact, they're ecstatic.]
Katie: Oh my gosh, Sadie, look! It's a summer camp!
Sadie: Okay! I always wanted to go to summer camp! Eee!
[The next camper off the boat is Ezekiel. He looks very unkempt.]
Chris: Ezekiel! What's up, man?
[Ezekiel actually looks up into the sky.]
Ezekiel: ...I think I see a bird.
[Trent laughs.]
Chris: Okay, look dude. I know you don't get out much. Been home schooled your whole life, raised by freaky prairie people... just don't say much and try not to get kicked off too early, okay?
Ezekiel: Yes, sir!
Gwen: That's just... wow.
[The boat drives off once again, leaving Cody standing on the dock.]
Chris: Cody! The Code-ster! The Codemeister!
[Cody walks to take his place at the end of the dock.]
Cody (confident): Dude, psyched to be here, man! I see the ladies have already arrived. Alright.
[Cody goes to talk to Leshawna, but...]
Leshawna: Save it, short stuff.
[The next camper lands on the dock with a *THUD!* Eva doesn't look like she's smiled once in her life.]
Chris: Eva. Nice. Glad you could make it.
[Eva stands with the rest of the campers and drops her bag down, which lands on Cody's foot with a *CLANG!*]
Cody: Ow! What's in there? Dumbbells?
Eva: Yes.
Duncan (to DJ): She's all yours, man.
[The next camper to arrive exudes happiness. Owen is the only one who looks genuinely excited to be here.]
Owen: Wooohoooo! Chris! What's happenin'? *laughs* This is awesome! Wooohooo!
Chris: Owen! Welcome!
[Owen picks up Chris in a rib-crushing hug.]
Owen: Awesome to be here, man! Yeah! Man, this is just so...
Gwen: Awesome?
Owen: Yes! Awesome! Wooooo! Are you going to be on my team?
Gwen (sarcastic): Oh, I sure hope so.
Owen: Woooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Chris: You about finished?
[Owen puts Chris back down.]
Owen: Sorry dude, I'm just so psyched!
Chris: Cool. And here comes Courtney.
[The next camper to arrive is Courtney, who looks very proper as she waves to the dock. Chris gives her a hand off the boat]
Courtney: Thank you. Hi, you must be the other contestants. It's really nice to meet you all.
[Owen grabs Courtney's hand with two hands and shakes it.]
Owen: How's it going? I'm Owen!
Courtney: Nice to meet you- ohhhhh... wow.
[The boat crosses the water with the next camper on board. You can practically see Justin's muscles through his shirt. And everyone notices how good he looks. Sadie even faints.]
Chris: This is Justin! Welcome to Total Drama Island.
Justin: Thanks, Chris. This is great.
Chris: Just so you know, we picked you based entirely on your looks.
Justin: I can deal with that.
Owen: I like your pants!
Justin: Thanks, man.
Owen: 'Cause they look like they're all worn out. *laughs* Did you buy them like that?
Justin: Uh, no. Just... had them for a while.
Owen: Oh, cool. *facepalms* Stupid!
Chris: Hey, everyone! Izzy!
[Izzy stands near the top of the boat, and is dressed in what appears to be a green loincloth looking thing. As the boat pulls to a stop, she runs to the bow of the boat.]
Izzy: Hi, Chris! Hi! Hi- Whoa!
[Izzy trips over the railing on the bow and falls off the boat into the water, bouncing her face off the edge of the dock as she goes.]
Tyler: OOOOH! That was bad! *laughs*
Courtney: Guys! She could be seriously hurt!
[Courtney runs over to pull Izzy out of the water. Izzy shakes herself dry, similar to a dog.]
Izzy: That felt so… good! Except for hitting my chin. This is summer camp? That is so cool. Do you have paper maché here? Are we having lunch soon?
Owen: That is a good call!
Chris: First things first. We need a group photo for the promos. Everyone on the end of the dock!
[Everyone walks to the opposite end of the dock to pose in front of the Camp Wawanakwa sign. Chris hops onto the bow of the boat with a camera in hand.]
Chris: Okay! One, two, three...
[The camera only gives a half-hearted snap.]
Chris: Oops! Okay, forgot the lens cap!
[Chris presses a button on the camera and the lens opens up.]
Chris: Okay, hold that pose. One, tw-. Oh, no wait, card's full. Hang on.
Leshawna (rolling eyes): Come on, man. My face is starting to freeze.
Chris: Got it! Okay, everyone say "Wawanakwa!"
Campers: Wawanakwa- AHHH!
[Chris captures a perfect promo shot... just as the dock collapses underneath the collective weight of all the campers and sends them all into the water.]
Chris: Okay, guys. Dry off and meet at the campfire pit in ten!
[COMMERCIAL BREAK]
[The episode comes back with all the campers looking much drier than the last time we saw them. They all sit at the campfire area while Chris stands before them.]
Chris: This is Camp Wawanakwa, your home for the next eight weeks. The campers sitting around you will be you cabin mates, your competition, and maybe even your friends. Ya dig?
[Harold looks over at Duncan, who threatens him with a fist.]
Chris: The camper who manages to stay on Total Drama Island the longest without getting voted off will win $100,000!
Duncan: Excuse me? What will the sleeping arrangements be? Because I'd like to request a bunk under her. *jams a thumb at Heather*
Heather: They're not co-ed, are they?
Chris: No. Girls get one side of each cabin, and dudes get the other.
Lindsay: Excuse me, Kyle? Can I have a cabin with the lake view since I'm the prettiest?
Chris: Okay, you are. But that's not really how it works here, and it's Chris.
Katie: I have to live with Sadie, or I'll die.
Sadie: And I'll break out in hives. It's true.
Gwen: This cannot be happening.
[Owen pulls Gwen and Tyler into one arm hugs. But it looks more like a pair of headlocks.]
Owen: Awww, come on guys! It'll be fun, it's like a big sleepover!
Tyler: At least you don't have to sleep next to him.
[The camera cuts to Duncan who is in the middle of noogie-ing a deer while rock music plays.]
Chris: Here's the deal. We're gonna split you into two teams.
[Chris pulls out a master list of the teams.]
Chris: If I call your name out, go stand over there. Gwen. Trent. Heather. Cody. Lindsay. Beth. Katie. Owen. Leshawna. Justin. And... Noah. From this moment on, you are officially known as... the Screaming Gophers!
[Chris throws Owen a large green banner which unfurls to reveal a gopher baring its teeth and looking for a fight.]
Owen: Yeah! I'm a Gopher! Woooo!
Katie: Wait! What about Sadie?
Chris: The rest of you, over here. Geoff. Bridgette. DJ. Tyler. Sadie. Izzy. Courtney. Ezekiel. Duncan. Eva, and... Harold. Move, move, move, move!
Sadie (protesting): But Katie's a Gopher! I have to be a Gopher!
Courtney: Sadie, is it? Come on, it'll be okay.
[Courtney gently leads Sadie away to her teammates.]
Sadie: This is so unfair! I miss you, Katie!
Katie: I miss you too!
Chris: You guys will officially be known as... the Killer Bass!
[Chris throws Harold a red banner that unrolls to show a bass looking ready to get violent.]
Harold: That's awesome! It's like... amazing!
Chris: All right, campers, you and your team will be on camera in all public areas during this competition.
[*STATIC*]
Chris : You will also be able to share your innermost thoughts on tape with video diaries anytime you want. Let the audience at home know what you're really thinking. Or, just get something off your chest!
[*STATIC*]
Gwen (confessional): Um, okay... so far, this sucks.
[*STATIC*]
[Lindsay is looking at the back wall of the confessional stall, with the camera pointing at her rear.]
Lindsay (confessional): Um... I don't get it. Where's the camera guy?
[*STATIC*]
[Somehow a loon has made its way into the confessional, and gets caught on camera applying lipstick. Where the lipstick came from... is a different question.]
[*STATIC*]
Owen (confessional): Hey everyone, check this out. I have something very important to say.
[Owen rips a noxious fart and laughs to himself.]
[*STATIC*]
[Back to the main show.]
Chris: Alright, any questions? Cool. Let's find your cabins.
[Chris leads the campers to the cabin grounds, filled with two cabins.]
Chris: Gophers, you're in the east cabin. Bass, you're in the west.
[The Gophers open the door to their cabin and enter.]
Heather: Bunk beds? Isn't this a little... summer camp?
[Gwen bumps Heather as she moves past her.]
Gwen: That's the idea, genius.
Heather: Ugh, shut up, weird goth girl!
Cody: You're so smart, I feel that.
Gwen: Shouldn't you be on the boy's side?
[Cody just smiles. And as he gets thrown out, he narrowly avoids hitting Leshawna. He crashes in front of Trent and picks himself up with a clod of grass in his mouth.]
Lindsay: Where are the outlets? I have to plug in my straightening iron.
Chris: There are some in the communal bathrooms. Just across the way.
Lindsay: Communal bathrooms? But, I'm not Catholic...
Chris: Not Communion, Communal.
Gwen: It means we shower together. Idiot.
Lindsay (whining): Aww, d-- no! C'mon!
Owen: I'm glad we're in our own cabin with just guys. Know what I mean? *laughs*
[Trent and Noah look at Owen, unamused. Crickets chirp in the background.]
Owen: I mean- no! I didn't mean it like that! I love chicks! *laughs* I just don't wanna sleep near them. *incoherent noises* I mean-
[Trent and Noah walk back into the cabin, while Owen races in behind them.]
Geoff: Excuse me, Chris? Is there a... chaperone of any kind in this facility here?
Chris: You're all 16 years old, as old as a counselor in training at a regular summer camp. So other than myself, you'll be unsupervised. You've got a half an hour to unpack and meet me back at the main lodge, starting now!
Geoff: Nice!
[A piercing scream, courtesy of Lindsay, rings out through the entire campground. Gwen, Tyler, DJ, Harold, Heather, Duncan and Leshawna stick their heads in the door of the Gophers' cabin.]
Leshawna: Oh man, that white girl can scream!
Lindsay: What is it?! Kill it, kill it!
[Lindsay is cowering from a cockroach skittering across the floor of the cabin. DJ gasps, then screams like a girl before jumping into a bed, reducing it to splinters. He shakes and shudders in the ruins of the bed.]
Gwen: That... was my bed.
[The cockroach crawls around the floor, and the campers either try to stomp on it or get away from it, all the while screaming their heads off. As it tries to get to the door, it finds its path blocked by Duncan, who raises an axe into the air.]
Cockroach (high-pitched): Help me!
[The screen cuts to black as the axe is buried into the floor, bisecting the cockroach.]
Gwen: Well, that's one way to kill a cockroach.
Harold: Awesome.
Tyler (to Lindsay): If you ever see one of those again, just let me know, 'kay? Cause, *sniff* you know, I can do that too.
[Love music plays as Lindsay and Tyler look at each other with a light in their eyes.]
Duncan: *scoffs* They always go for the jocks.
[The camera cuts to the dining hall/main lodge, where the campers line up to receive their meal from Chef Hatchet, who is a person you do not refuse.]
Chef: Listen up! I serve it three times a day, and you'll eat it three times a day! Grab a tray, get your food, and sit your butts down NOW!
Beth: Excuse me, but will we be getting all the major food groups?
[Chef scoops what appear to be... sloppy joes? ...onto a few trays, which are taken by Harold and Beth.]
Harold: Yeah, 'cause I get hypoglycemic real bad if I don't get enough sugar.
[Chef gets a look in his eye.]
Chef: You'll get a whole lot of SHUT THE HECK UP!
Owen (to Noah): Have a cow!
Chef: What was that?! Come closer, fat boy! I didn't hear you!
Owen (nervous): Oh, I didn't really say anything important...
Chef: I'm sure you didn't! You! Scrawny kid, gimme your plate.
[He gives Noah another scoop of the dubious food, but it latches itself back onto the scoop Chef used. Chef remedies this by throwing onto Noah's tray harder, and Noah leaves with his tray. Leshawna stands in line next to Eva.]
Leshawna: Yo, what's up girl?
[Eva turns to glare at Leshawna without a word, then she leaves with her tray.]
Leshawna: ...Oh, it's gonna be like that, is it?
Chef (screaming): NEXT!
[Later, Lindsay and Gwen step up to get their food.]
Lindsay: Excuse me? My nutritionist says I shouldn't eat any white sugar, white flour, or like, dairy.
[Chef grabs a fly out of the air while glaring at Lindsay.]
Gwen: I don't think that's gonna be a problem.
Lindsay: Cool.
[Gwen's sandwich jiggles in a way that food shouldn't ever do.]
Gwen: Okay, I hate to be predictable and complain on the first day, but I think mine just moved.
[Chef produces a large wooden mallet and slams it on Gwen's food, sending it spraying all over himself and Gwen.]
Gwen (nervous): Right! Okay, then...
[As the campers eat, something that... was food slithers across the floor. Chris walks in the front door. ]
Chris: Welcome to the main lodge!
Geoff: Yo, my man. Can we order a pizza?
[Chef responds by throwing a cleaver across the dining hall and embedding it into the doorframe.]
Geoff: Whoa! It's cool, G! Brown slop is cool! *laughs nervously* Right guys?
[The rest of the campers fearfully nod in agreement as Chef brandishes another knife.]
Chris: Your first challenge begins... in one hour!
[Chris leaves the dining hall.]
Katie: What do you think they'll make us do?
DJ: It's our first challenge, how hard can it be?
[They are shown just how hard when the camera cuts to the campers standing in their swimming uniforms atop a cliff... which extends hundreds of feet above the rest of the island.]
DJ: ...Oh, sh**.
[FADE OUT]
[TEASER]
Chris: Next time on Total Drama Island...
Chris (voiceover): Your first task is to jump off this 1,000 foot high cliff into the lake.
[*STATIC*]
Geoff (confessional): I'm looking at this guy and thinkin' there's no way he's gonna make it.
[*STATIC*]
Gwen (confessional): I actually thought, "If he jumps this... he's gonna die."
[*STATIC*]
[In a teaser clip of the next episode, Owen steps up to take a run up to the jump off of the cliff.]
'Owen (flashforward): I'm going to die now. I'm going to frickin die now.
[The audience is shown clips of vicious looking sharks swimming through the lake, and of Owen taking a belly flop from a very high point while he screams the whole way down. A massive splash is heard as Bridgette, Geoff and Eva all flinch from the event, and the impact sends a flock of birds flying.]

Boys' chat
Sometimes job is not something we like to do, but something we do in order to survive. In most cases, bosses are not good at their duties and because of it some workers can have emotional crisis. It didn't pass by Axel, one of the responsible and hardworking programmer, on whom the company relies on. And because of it, he almost every time gets from his boss, which turns out not a healthy habit. Today it turned out against him as he was walking towards the bar. With upset and exhausted look, he entered the bar and ordered a drink. For couple of minutes he was sitting in silence until he decided to call Chris and ask if he was free. Fortunately he was just about to finish the work for today and go back home. So, Axel asked him if they could meet, to which Chris agreed, hearing the upset voice of his friend. Half an hour later, Chris got to the bar where Axel was as walked closer to the table.
Chris: Hey, pal.
Axel: Oh, hi, Chris.
He took a sit as looked at the upset programmer, holding a glass of cola.
Chris: Are you okay? You look exhausted.
Axel: Just...not a good day at work. Or should I say a week?
Chris: Judging by the glass that you're holding, it's been a week.
Axel: This? Nah, it's just cola. But yeah, it's been a long terrible week.
Chris: Want to talk about it?
Axel: Sure. If you want, you can order something.
Chris: Thank you, but I will pass.
And they began the chat. Chris listened attentively to what Axel said, about his boss, about the work and how he managed to mess things up.
Axel: And then his secretary brang new tasks to do while I still didn't finish with other tasks.
Chris: Geez, why did you have to do all the tasks alone?
Axel: Not alone, but I had more than others due to one of my colleagues being on sick leave.
Chris: Oh, I see. And because that you haven't done your colleague's work before, you could do it only in a slow manner, which was not what your boss wanted.
Axel: Yeah...I have already blamed myself for taking tasks that I can't do in time.
Chris: Hey, you just wanted to help, and that's okay. So, what else happened?
Axel: Well, things became a bit worse today. When I brang the results of the tasks I managed to do, boss was so mad that threatened to fire me. Good thing is that other colleagues stepped out for me.
Chris: So it's not that worse.
Axel: Yeah, but you know how it is when you have worked the whole week for this person that you forgot about your own tasks.
Chris: Oh wow.
Axel nodded as took a sip.
Axel: That's why I couldn't help, but ask some help from other colleagues. To my fortune, some of them agreed and each of us took tasks to do.
Chris: And let me guess, you have finished yours, so that you could have time for this.
Axel: Yeah....Plus Liya is probably waiting for me with something "fun" for us.
Chris: Hey, it's not a work, so things can't get worse.
Axel was silent for a moment, thinking if it's really not worse than work. Chris could only sigh as got up and put his hand on the table.
Tumblr media
Chris: Axel, pal, if Liya sees you like this, she will have questions, you know. You can't hide it from her, plus your mood is not in a good shape to handle her tricks.
Axel: Hmmm, yeah, she will be super mad at my boss.
Chris: Yep. What do you think she will do if you tell her about the work and your boss's attempt to fire you?
Axel: In the good case, she will probably just try to cheer me up-
Chris: Which is a good sign.
Axel: -Or in the worst case, go to my boss to talk, kick his ass and send him to Hell, which will lead to me being fired completely.
Chris: ....Okay, this is a bad sign. Then you definitely need to change your look. It already screams that you want your boss to be kicked.
Axel:...Is it?
Chris: Come on, you literary live with a demon, who can see human's inner desire. Plus, you know better than me that it won't help your situation. Your colleagues already agreed to help, you just need to explain things to her, say that you're not in a mood for her tricks.
Axel: I just...hope that she will understand it.
He looked down as took another sip, sighing heavily. Chris thought for a moment, then an idea came to his mind.
Chris: I can accompany you to your home. Plus, if you want, I can ask Anoli to talk with Liya.
Axel: What? No, no need to drag Anoli into my and Liya's relationship. Just a good company is enough.
Chris: Are you sure?
Axel: Yeah. Still, thank you for your offer.
Chris: No problem. I just don't know how things go between you and Liya, and judging by your words she does her demon stuff quite often.
Axel: Well, I signed up myself for it. And despite me being exhausted after such moments, I still love her. She makes my days less boring. Just, sometimes I wish they were less adventurous.
Chris: Heh, you have an iron "spirit", pal.
Axel: I wouldn't say so. My "spirit" is still not that sharp. Who knows what other surprises she has for me.
Chris: And yet, you hold on quite well. I wonder how is Jeff doing. I still feel a bit guilty for leaving him with these demon ladies.
Axel: Yeah, but I'm pretty sure that we would not handle it as well. They're succubi after all.
Chris: Yeah, our bodies would be dead for sure. Still, we should call him once, to be sure that he is fine.
Axel: Agree with you.
Chris: Well then, shall we go?
Axel: Sure.
He took the last sip as stood up and went to bartender to pay for the drink. Then together Chris and Axel walked towards Axel's home, where his beloved demon girl waited for him, not expecting that her human boyfriend has some things to say.

Kiss and Make Up
Tumblr media
🧡 Summary: Months after a heart-breaking break-up, your best friend Hyunjin begs you to attend a late night party at his home, where you see the last person you'd wanted to see--your ex-boyfriend, Bang Chan. (Requested)
🧡 Word Count: 2,421
🧡 Pairing: Christopher Bang/Bang Chan X Reader / Characters: GenderNeutral!Reader; Producer!Bang Chan; Hwang Hyunjin (Hyunjin);
🧡 Rated: T for swearing / Warnings: swearing / Genre: GenderNeutral!Reader; Angst; Fluff (?);
Tumblr media
You stare at yourself in the mirror, wondering if you look good enough or if you need to change any part of your appearance. You want to look attractive enough for the party, but not attractive enough that you'll attract any unwanted attention from men.
Not that you don't like men. You just don't want a boyfriend anytime soon. You just got out of a relationship about a month or so ago and you haven't fully recovered yet.
You sigh and redo your hair. Still, you just aren't satisfied with your appearance, but you promised your friend Hyunjin that you'd be there at 10, and it's already 9:30.
You arrive at Hyunjin's home only a few minutes after you'd planned to. The place is filled with dancing people that you recognize, but most that you don't know. It's Hyunjin's party and the only people here are friends of his, friends of friends, and friends of friends of friends. You don't see him anywhere as you enter the house, but you expect him to be in the kitchen near the drinks, so that's where you start.
You see Hyunjin leaning against the counter with a red cup in his hand, and push through the crowd of people dancing to music to walk toward him. His long, blonde hair is tied back in a messy little ponytail, and he's dressed
"Oh, look who's finally here," he says. He passes you a cup, which you sip from slowly. "Don't drink too much. We both know your alcohol tolerance is shit."
"It's not that bad."
"Well, there was that one time where you got absolutely shitfaced and threw up, and Channie had to take you back to our dorm."
You glare at Hyunjin at the mention of your ex boyfriend, and he ducks his head apologetically.
"Sorry. I won't say his name."
"You had better not. Why did you want me to come here, anyway?"
"Because I didn't want you cooped up in your room forever, idiot. You need to get out."
There's a long moment of silence between you two, filled by the sound of loud music and people dancing and singing along or talking. You hadn't been to one of these parties in a long time, mostly because you were afraid you were going to run into Bang Chan, a frequent party-goer. But Hyunjin had texted you last night, saying he wanted you here.
You start tapping your foot to the music as you look over the people dancing in the living room. You think, for a moment, that you see a familiar form drift through the crowd and tense up.
"What?" Hyunjin asks, frowning at you from the side.
"I thought I saw . . ."
Chan emerges from the crowd again, wearing a black cap, and leather jacket over a black T-shirt and black jeans. He looks around before his eyes fall on you.
"Fuck," you mutter, lowering your head, hoping that he didn't recognize you. You turn your head and stare, wide-eyed, at Hyunjin, who has his hands up in surrender. "Did you know he was coming? Is that why you asked me here?"
"Who?" he asks.
You glare at him accusingly. "Bang Chan," you hiss.
"Well Y/N, I just . . . he asked me to let you know if you were going to be here, because he wanted to fix things with you and--"
"Fuck off," you mutter.
"Y/N, he wants to fix things. He loves you."
"Whatever." You turn around and march past Hyunjin and pour yourself some more alcohol. Fuck it.
You broke up with Bang Chan a few months ago. Not because any of you did anything to each other, specifically. Neither of you hurt each other physically or insulted each other. After just over a year of dating, you knew you had loved him. But that didn't mean the relationship was perfect.
Bang Chan loved you too. You knew that. But he was often too busy to show it. He was also a hard worker, dedicated to his job. That meant that he was rarely home, and when he was, he was always working or too tired to give you enough attention. You had once tried to tell him that you needed more attention, but he waved you off. You eventually realized that you couldn't live like this, feeling alone, and broke it off with him. You loved him, but you couldn't stay in the relationship if you were going to feel isolated. It broke your heart.
You've spent the past few months recovering from the pain of missing him, intentionally avoiding any place you might see Bang Chan. It didn't help that your friend Hyunjin was friends with Bang Chan.
You take another sip of the drink in your hand. You've been trying so hard to get over Bang Chan, and you know that seeing him will undo all of that work. Might as well drink some more so you can survive the rest of the night after seeing him.
Halfway through your third cup, someone taps your shoulder. You turn, and unsurprisingly, it's Bamg Chan. He looks really good. He's removed his baseball hat, so you can see that he dyed his hair back to black sometime since you broke up with him.
"Hey Y/N," he says, looking you up and down. "Can we talk?"
Fuck.
You're halfway through your third cup of whatever-it-was, but you're still not drunk enough for this. You're drunk enough to make stupid decisions, but you're not drunk enough to be unaware of them. Every stupid thing you may or may not do, you'll remember clearly.
"Sure," you say, facing him and leaning your weight against the edge of the table. "What do you want?" you ask somewhat drunkenly.
God, that sounded lame.
"I just wanted to apologize," he says. "I was thinking back to our last conversation."
You can feel your head is dizzy, but you shake your head and ignore it. Chan seems too focused on his speaking to notice.
"I realize that I was being a real dick. I wasn't listening to you back then. I wasn't giving you enough attention. I was too absorbed in my work, and I didn't see it then. I was too obsessed with my--"
You don't know what comes over you. You just want him to shut up and stop talking. You grab the car of his stupid leather jacket and kiss him. It certainly shuts him up.
He's frozen for a moment, before he places his hands on your waist and starts kissing you back. You hum and your fingers wind into his hair, pulling him closer. He tastes so familiar.
His fingers squeeze your hip gently. That brings you back to reality.
Why am I kissing him? We broke up.
You pull away from him, letting go of his jacket, your hand covering your mouth in shock. Your head hurts. You don't know if it was drunk you or normal you who kissed Chan. You're sober enough to know that that was stupid, though. Chan doesn't know that, though. He could think you're just drunk out of your mind, right?
You push past him and can hear him calling your name. Calling for you to come back. You need to get out of here.
Tumblr media
You wake up the morning after, feeling like absolute shit. Your hair is a mess. You're tired, from seeing Bang Chan at last night's party. But it's the weekend and you have no plans.
Your phone has several messages from Hyunjin, asking if you're okay and got home safe, but you're too emotionally exhausted to respond.
After sitting in bed, thinking about how you kissed your ex boyfriend Bang Chan, you decide to take a refreshing shower.
After you finish your shower, you wipe yourself off in your towel. As you stand in the mirror, your towel wrapped around your body, your phone rings and, to your horror, it's Bang Chan. You'd deleted your number from his phone during your last argument, and his from yours. He doesn't have your number memorized, you know that. So how can he have called you?
You pick up.
"How did you get my number, Christopher?" you say before he can speak. You rarely call him Christopher. Usually, it's Chris or Chan or Channie. It's only Christopher when you're mad, and you've been mad at him for months.
He pauses. "A friend we both have."
You groan. "I'm going to kill Hyunjin."
"Y/N, I have a request," Chan says on the other end of the phone. You groan.
"I can't guarantee I'll say yes, but just say it."
He takes a deep breath. "Can we meet for breakfast? I want to just talk."
You know you should decline for your own sanity. But deep down, you miss Chan. You miss his kisses, his hugs. You miss him.
"Alright," you say, your voice coming out much softer than you intended.
"Can we meet at our breakfast place? I mean--it's not our breakfast place anymore. But can we meet there?"
You tense. "Okay."
"Thank you."
You hang up and finish up getting ready for the day. Halfway through dressing yourself, you realize you're wearing one of your nicest shirts, as if you're dressing up for a nice party. You tell yourself you're not dressing up for Chan, but deep down you know you are.
You head to the coffee shop you and Chan used to go to for regular dates. It was a great place to focus on work and school. As you walk in, you see Chan sitting at your usual table. He waves you over and you sit across from him anxiously. The table already has your usual breakfast and drink. He remembered it. Your heart melts. You'd thought he didn't care enough to remember, but apparently he did remember.
"Hey . . ." he says, smiling nervously, fidgeting with his fingers on the table.
"Hi." You look up at him. He's smiling sadly at you, like you're something he wants so dearly, but just out of reach. Perhaps that's how you felt before. You had wanted to be his, but you never felt like you were when he would only focus on his work instead of you. Realizing there was no point in trying to get his attention, despite him already being your boyfriend, you gave up.
"So . . . last night at the party."
You freeze up. "I was drunk."
"I know," he says. "But you know what they say. Drunk words and actions are sober thoughts."
You glare at him. "Did you call me to breakfast just to rub it in my face that I miss you and kissed you? Why did you call me here, Christopher?"
"You miss me?" he asks, eyebrow raised cockily, as if he couldn't tell from how you two made out last night.
"Christopher!"
"Sorry," he says, ducking his head. "So how have you been?"
"I've been alright," you say. His question feels forced, like an awkward transition, but you answer anyway. "How has producing been going for you?"
Chan winces. "It's been going alright. After we . . . after you left, I didn't sleep for a few days. I didn't want to go home because I didn't want to come home to an empty apartment. Then when I finally went home, it finally hit me that you were gone. I couldn't produce anything for weeks. Changbin and Jisung were worried."
You nod. "I'm sorry that I took you away from your work by just not being there."
"No," he says, shaking your head. "It was good. It gave me time to think. About us. About my role in the break up."
"I'm glad."
"Y/N," Chan says suddenly. You look up at him, and he's staring at you. "I was saying it last night--before you kissed me--but I understand, now, what I couldn't all those months ago. I wasn't giving you enough attention. I was too obsessed with my work to see that I was neglecting you. I loved you, I love you, and I didn't show that enough. I'm so, so sorry. I want to ask you if I can have one more chance. I don't deserve it, but please. If you give me this chance, I promise I'll be better. I've toned it down with my work. I will listen to you."
You stare at him.
Honestly, you miss him. You think back to your relationship with Chan. You loved him. You still love him. You never stopped. But near the end of your relationship, you felt so alone. It felt one sided. You were in a relationship with Bang Chan, and Bang Chan was in a relationship with his work.
But looking at him now, you know he's grown, and you're sure he's changed. It's not like he meant to hurt you. He was just being stupid and unaware. Now he's very aware of his mistakes, and has changed a lot.
You look down at the food and drink that Chan ordered for you. He remembered your tastes, what you like, your favorites. You'd thought he wouldn't remember things like that. But he did. Perhaps . . .
"Okay," you say softly. Chan looks up at you, eyes wide in surprise.
"Really?"
You smile and nod. "Yes. One more chance."
His smile is bright and wide, and he grabs your hand from across the table. You feel warm inside. "Thank you, Y/N. I promise I won't disappoint you."
You feel yourself smiling. Bang Chan's smile is something you've missed seeing, and now that he's smiling at you again, months after your breakup, you feel so happy.
"I know." You squeeze his hands gently.
"So . . ." Chan looks around anxiously. "Do you have any plans after this?"
You shake your head, smiling.
"Do you want to spend the rest of the day with me?"
You nod. "I'd like that."

PROMPT:
Tumblr media
Bruce Wayne & Jason Todd, Jason Todd & Catherine Todd
Warning: implied/referenced child abuse.
Jason Todd makes no attempt to eat his burger or even take a sip from his soda, despite the loud rumbling of his stomach. He clutches the bag tightly, bringing it closer to his chest when he sees Bruce staring, like he's afraid Bruce would take offense and demand his food back.
Bruce Wayne does not understand him. His threadbare clothes do nothing to hide the skin stretched over bones. He can see the outline of the boy's ribs through his red hoodie. He is clearly very hungry and going by the way he can't seem to take his eyes off the bag of fast food or even how he keeps taking lungs full of the aroma wafting from it, like if he breathes deep enough, he will be filled. He would bet his entire fortune that this kid has not had a good meal in weeks, or even months. Even one as unhealthy as greasy fast food.
The child is clearly starving. Yet, he has not made any attempt to help himself.
Bruce does not have any experience with poverty or homelessness. Even at the lowest point of his life, he had access to basic human needs. Still, he knows enough about human behavior to know that Jason's behavior right now is not the norm. When he gives a clearly starving person food, they usually devour it immediately.
There are only a few reasons why he would not want to eat the food he had enthusiastically accepted from Bruce. Either he plans to use the food as payment for his safety, in which case, Bruce needs to start looking into gangs exploiting kids, or he has someone, most likely a younger sibling in his care. Considering the fact that Bruce had caught him trying to jack off the fourth tire of the batmobile, after successfully getting away with the other three, Bruce is not sure what is most likely to be the case.
"You going to turn me in now?" Jason asks him, once Bruce's burger is out of sight.
"I promised you I wouldn't," Bruce tells him as earnestly as he can manage.
It doesn't convince the child at all.
"Yeah, right," he scoffs. "That's what you all say."
"Don't you think it would be counter-productive to have you arrested for trying to survive? I'm trying to make Gotham safe for kids like you, Jason. Not put you in jail. I might take you somewhere safe, so you don't have to keep living on the streets, but--"
"I'm not on the streets," Jason cuts in defensively. The fear and worry in his expression is clear now. "I live with my mom and we're fine. If you're not going to arrest me, then I'll be on my way."
A mom. Bruce can't decide if it's a euphemism for Boss. He has seen some awful things since becoming Batman. He also knows some parents take advantage of their kids and force them into crimes as a way to 'earn their keep'.
Jason is most likely taking the food to this person, if he's not eating it, and Batman needs to separate them if the child is being exploited.
The child doesn't wait for Bruce's response before he starts his trek back to the Narrows.
Making a snap decision, Bruce calls out to him.
"Common, I'll drop you off wherever you want," he says, knowing Jason would never let Batman drop him off at home. The child is too suspicious, and rightfully so.
Jason stops in his tracks, but he makes no attempt to accept Bruce's offer.
"It will be morning before you make it all the way across town," Bruce points out. "That's if you don't get attacked for the food."
With that, Jason agrees to let Bruce give him a ride.
Even though he was quiet for the first couple of minutes, Bruce could see the wheels turning in the boy's head. Jason has a very expressive face that tells Bruce he is gearing up to say something, as he takes in the interior of the batmobile.
Jason doesn't take as long as Bruce thought he would.
"You're probably rich, huh?" Jason observes.
Oh God, Bruce hopes this kid is not about to proposition him.
"Not really." Bruce's answer is terse to discourage further probing.
"So it's true what they say?" Jason continues, either missing Bruce's reluctance to continue with this conversation or ignoring it. "That you're fucking Bruce Wayne for money?"
If Batman didn't have such a tight rein on his microexpressions, he would have choked. "That's not language suitable for a child."
Jason turns in his seat so that Bruce doesn't miss the elaborate eye-roll.
"I guess you've had to pay informants, huh?" Jason asks. "You know, like in the stories, where a dude is rewarded for giving the cops valuable information for solving a crime. You do that?"
"Sometimes." Bruce is invested in where Jason is going with his questioning. "Why? Do you have information to sell?"
"Depends on your going rate," the boy sasses.
"And how much do you want?" Bruce asks.
"I read in the papers that the FBI pay up to a hundred grand," Jason shrugs. "Shouldn't be too much for you to match, seeing as you have a rich boyfriend."
"One hundred thousand dollars?" The only reason Bruce doesn't laugh is because he doesn't want Jason to think he's being made fun of.
That, and the possibility that Jason may be trying to get free from his abuser, by having Batman go after them.
"You really think your information is worth that much?" Bruce asks.
"You tell me, Batman." Jason shrugs again. "It was worth enough to cause a war between Penguin and Scarecrow. Enough to make my dad disappear, not that that's a bad thing."
Bruce doesn't think he's supposed to hear the last part, as Jason mutters it under his breath. But the cowl picks up the words clearly.
A criminal and/or abusive mother and mob affiliated but now absentee father. Bruce is debating calling Social Services.
He's also aware of the war between Penguin and Scarecrow. A few months ago, there were rumors of a collaboration between the two factions to take over Gotham, before accusations of betrayal.
If it wasn't for the lives being lost, Bruce would be grateful for their misunderstanding.
Still, a hundred thousand dollars is a lot of money for someone like Jason, and is most likely to draw the wrong attention.
"I'll give you five thousand," Bruce tells him.
"Out of a hundred? Are you really that cheap?" Jason snorts. "You roll around in a ride like this and can't even pay for information? Okay, I'll do you a favor and take seventy."
"Ten," Bruce counters.
"All you rich assholes like taking advantage of poor people," Jason grumbles angrily. When Bruce doesn't budge, he relents. "Fifty."
"Fifteen."
"Fifty," Jason repeats firmly.
"Alright, twenty five thousand dollars and that's my final offer."
"Deal!" Jason agrees immediately.
Bruce watches him spit on his palm before extending it to Bruce for a handshake.
"Come on," he urges when Bruce makes no attempt to shake his hand. "We gotta shake on it to seal the deal."
In the face of that logical argument, Bruce spits in his own hand before clasping it to Jason's in a handshake.
If Jason believes he has information that can help, then twenty five thousand dollars is not too much to pay someone who clearly needs it. The cash in the batmobile isn't up to the amount, but it should be enough to buy the time he would need to get the rest from the manor.
"Alright." He follows Jason's directions on where to park. "What's this information?"
"Wait here," Jason instructs him, undoing the seat belt. "I'll bring it to you."
Bruce gives Jason a minute head-start before he takes to the rooftops, to trail the young boy.
After a few twists and turns, he comes to a stop in front of a dilapidated building. A woman rushes out and pulls Jason into a hug.
"I've been looking all over for you!" she scolds. "Where were you? Chris said some man took you. Is that true?"
She is rail thin, her threadbare clothes hanging off her body, but she sounds genuinely distressed as she checks him for injuries.
"I'm fine, Mom," Jason says in comfort before shoving the food at her. "Look, I got us food and I found a way to get away from the men looking for dad."
The woman -- Jason's mom -- shoves the food back at him, before pulling him into an apartment with the door barely hanging on a hinge.
It's hard not to notice the woman's limp, or the way Jason supports some of her weight as they go.
Bruce takes a second to process everything.
Judging by the environment and what he's seen and heard, Jason isn't being abused, but he's in even more danger.
Whether he plans to pay off his father's debt with the money or not, Bruce knows he has to get mother and son away from this place before they end up as victims of mob violence. Whether Jason really does have information to sell or not.
With that, Bruce hops down to the street from his perch on the roof.
Despite how mindful he is of the door, the moment his fist to connects with the door, it falls off the hinge holding it in place, exposing Jason and his mother having either a very late dinner or a very early breakfast in their one bedroom apartment.
They both jump at the sight of him, and once realization dawns on them, their reactions are wildly different.
Jason's mom cowers with fear, shrinking into herself while attempting to wrap herself around her son, but Jason won't have it. He is livid.
"What the fuck, Batman!" the child hisses angrily. "I told you to wait for me."
"Jason, stop," his mother pleads, pulling Jason behind her.
The boy is unmoved. His mother's frailness is no match for his strength.
"You broke our door! Why the fuck would you do that?"
Despite his obvious anger, they're both careful not to raise their voices. Bruce imagines that getting a visit from Batman isn't a good thing in this neighborhood.
"Calm down," Bruce growls.
Both mother and son freeze where they stand.
"We didn't do nothing wrong, Batman," the lady tells him in a trembling voice. "If you're looking for my husband, we don't know where he is."
"I'm here for Jason," Bruce tells her, registering her distress just before he turns to Jason. "You were taking too long," he lies. "I wanted to make sure you were fine."
This seems to placate the boy a bit, but not his mother, who demands to know what the hell is going on.
Bruce watches silently as Jason explains his plans to his mother.
Apparently, his plan is to sell the information his father stole from Scarecrow to Batman, in exchange for money that will get them out of Crime Alley.
His mom doesn't look thrilled, but she lets Jason climb into the ceiling to retrieve what her husband had hidden there.
"You won't arrest him when you have what you want, will you?" she asks with a fierce look.
Bruce can't help but admire that about her. Not a lot of people have that look about them when Batman is staring them down.
Must be where Jason gets his spunk.
"Jason is a good boy," she continues. "He did a bad thing, but it was for a good reason. His heart is in the right place, I swear."
"Mrs Todd--" Bruce starts, but she interrupts him.
"Catherine."
"Catherine," he repeats. "I don't plan to arrest your son," he continues as calmly as Batman's voice will let him. "We made a deal and I intend to uphold my end."
"So you're just going to hand Jason twenty-five grand?" Catherine asks suspiciously. "Just like that?"
"Yes," he tells her simply. "But I don't have twenty-five thousand dollars in cash right now. I can give you a thousand tonight, and a safe place for the night. Seeing as I broke your door. Tomorrow, you will get the rest of the money and I will call someone to fix your door."
As he talks, he pulls out the bills from his utility belt and hands it to her.
Of course, he has no plans of letting them return here. But if he has learned anything from being Batman, it's that, sometimes, all some people have left is their pride.
Poor people hate being treated as charity.
Siccing Alfred on her would be more productive. All he has to do is make sure they meet. Dick would probably appreciate having someone young in the manor, too.
"And you swear Jason will be safe?" Catherine stresses, eyes flickering between the money and Bruce's face.
"I swear," he vows solemnly. That much, he can promise.
A few minutes later, Jason returns from the ceiling, an envelope clutched in his hand.
"Jason," Catherine calls softly, pulling him into her arms before he can give Bruce the envelope. "Baby, there's something I have to tell you about…"

LEON POV (1 hour ago)
I lost her. I can't believe it.
My breath gets heavy and I fall on the ground, hugging my knees. I'm done, destroyed.
Helena gets closer, extending her hand.
"Leon, it's okay. Everything's gonna be okay." I step away from her touch, dumbfounded with what I just heard.
"Okay? It's not okay! I just lost my fucking girlfriend! And you're saying it's okay?!" I scream getting up while tears stream down my face. Helena jumps with my voice. I turn around, my back facing her and I raise my hand to my forehead.
"My life don't have sense anymore." I whisper. I feel hand on my shoulder. I turn around, revealing Helena with a sad and gently look.
"No, your life has sense. I believe her, you said yourself that she cheats death like anyone. Even if I can't guarantee that, have hope. Like Chris said, they haven't found a body. Maybe she got out of there before they appeared." I stare at her.
I dry my tears and follow my way, Helena behind me.
I keep going like nothing happend, saying nothing. I can see the Tower this way.
"If he really killed her, he's gonna pay." I think while we go towards the Towel. A silence falls on us. I prefer this way. Along the way I just keep thinking of her.
"I hope you didn't go so soon, my love." A few tears fall but I dry them.
We arrived at the elevator. I stare at the world down at us, on flames. I dont know what to think anymore. I feel like I lost a part of my heart, of my soul.
"You really love her, don't you?" Helena asks by my side. I turn my head and give a weak smile.
Suddenly, an explosion happens, that makes the elevator go far.
"Great!" I say, running towards the other elevator. We jump and fall to the other one but it's ready to fall as well. We take its rope and start going up.
While we go up, I hear an explosion from the other side and I see Simmons above the elevator. It seems like Simmons is after someone, but who?
The person is soon revealed when they jump to another surface.
I let out a relieved smile. She's alive.
"Helena, look!" I call her attention. She stops climbing and looks behind.
"I told you she was alive." She says letting out a laugh.
"She cheated death again." I say smiling. We keep climbing, me keeping an eye on Y/N.
I see a surface, Helena jumps on it and I do the same.
"Let's help her!" I say, seeing that she's limping and needing help. I hit him with a few rifle shots. Simmons returns to his human form and Y/N goes above him.
"That's my girl." After a few minutes, the surface falls and we're back climbing. I look down and see Simmons coming towards us ready to attack.
I try to dodge a few attacks, I hear Y/N shooting from the other side.
"Not him!" I hear her say in the earpiece. We climb the rope faster while Simmons falls and falls.
He gets out of the wall and goes towards Y/N. Oh no! He knocks her down making her hit her head. I hear a scream of pain. Her eyes aren't open. She tries to crawl backwards but gives up.
"Y/N!" I scream for her. "Helena cover me." I say jumping to the other surface that leads me to her.
I get closer to her, and I put her head on my thigh. I check her thigh. A bandage, that's why she's limping. Poor baby, she's done.
"Babe, please, stay with me." I say looking at her face, full of pain, I can feel her breathing.
"Wake up, you can do it. I cant lose you." I say my voice breaking, I lower my head for an instant, looking for answer.
"Ah, Love, a weakness. Only destroys." Simmons says, in his human form and getting closer.
"Not from my point of view." I shoot back, I feel Y/N squirming, letting out a moan.
"Ahh!" She starts looking for my face with her hand.
"Le...on." she mumbles. I take her hand and put on my chest, making her feel my heart. Y/N tries to open her eyes, I get my attention back to Simmons that it's looking furious to us and gets closer. I get back to her and see that her eyes are open, I ask her if she's okay.
Simmons strikes and I hug Y/N, protecting her. I don't care if I die, if she's okay, my soul will be as well. She hugs me stronger.
When the attack ends, we step back and look at each other. I see doubt in her beautiful, brown eyes. I gasp at knowing that she's here, alive. She gives me a weak smile in return.
I get up, helping her, she is still limping and having a hard time to get up. I see Simmons coming towards us.
"Stay close. The leg doesn't look good." I say aiming at him but moving my head towards her leg.
Simmons starts transforming again and I start shooting at him.
"Helena, a little help here." Y/N says on the earpiece, I let out a laugh.
Simmons falls and go to his direction until he gets me and throws me to the edge of the surface making me fall but I can hold myself with my hands. I see Simmons coming closer, I grip harder at the surface.
"Leon! Your bastard!" I hear her say. He starts kicking my hands. "Do you want to live? Then, begg! Begg for your life!"
"I'll pass." I say back, starting to breath faster. Suddenly, I hear a gunshot and see Simmons falling from the surface. I stand on the surface. I see Y/N coming towards me, limping. So beautiful.
"Are you okay?" She asks worried while I'm just staring at her. At this moment, I realised how much I loved her, I'd give my life for her. Die for her. That's the woman that I want to spend the rest of my life with.
"Leon..." I get closer and close the gap between our bodies. I put together our lips in a deep kiss. I pull her closer to my body. Her lips, sweet and soft, caressing mine. I missed this so much. I can feel my heart beating, so fast. I can smell her feminine perfume. Ah, how I love it. I put my hands on her waist. Her hands are passing to my neck to my hair. She pulls my hair making me growl. She opens her mouth giving entrance to my tongue. Our love surrounding us. I leave lovely kisses on her neck making her gasp. I hug her, like my life depends on it.
"I love you, I love you." I say, hugging her, tightly.
"I'm never letting you go. Never." I think. I step away and look at her eyes, intensely. I'd look at them all day, if I could, I'll never get tired. She raises her hand to touch my face, I close my eyes, enjoying the moment.
"I love you too." She says back, a tear falling. She kisses my cheek.
"I hate to break the moment but a chopper is on its way to get us back, I think it's better if you guys come here." Y/N nods, laughing.
I look at her and take her hands. "Let's?" She nods.
On the way, I offer my help to carry her, because she was limping a lot. I'm starting to get worried about her leg. I'm happy that everything ended well. I hope we can live our lives now.
Y/N POV (now)
We arrived home, safely. I'm still limping and with a little pain, Leon is behind me. We got in and he closes the door. Now, I'm stopped in front of the door, facing our living room. I dont know what to do. I dont know if I take a shower or do other things now.
"Babe, what is it?" Leon comes and put a hand on my back. I turn around.
"Ah, nothing. It's nothing." I step away from him, tired. "I'm gonna take a shower." I say going to our room to get the clothes then the bathroom. A hot shower that's what a need. I put my clothes with blood in the basket and get in the shower. You can already see the hot steam. I stand there, just feeling the hot water on my body.
"Ah, this is nice." I think out aloud. I'm feeling my hurt leg get weaker. I force my other leg. While I'm on my thoughts, I hear the box door opening. In a few seconds, big and warm hands are on my waist.
"Leon." I mumble. He whispers in my ear. "Are you okay?" He's leaving kisses on my neck, now. I take my time to answer.
"Yes, yes, I'm okay." I turn around and get the soap to wash myself.
After a few minutes, of kisses and taking a shower, Leon and I are in the sofa, he's taking care of my wound.
"Since when I have wounds and you dont?" I say, mocking since I always take care of his wounds.
"I do but not that ugly, this time." He speaks sitting next to me, and looking at my wound.
After we're done, we cuddle on the sofa. "Leon, I need to talk to you." I raise my head from his chest to stare at him. He looks at me, serious.
"Why your eyes were red earlier? Did something happen?" He looks down, uncomfortable. I get confused.
"Chris told me that your helicopter was knocked down, and... and... He told me there was no survives..." I start to build the puzzle. That's why he was so weird earlier.
"Ah." I say, ashamed. He raises his head. "It was at that moment that I realised that you are the woman of my life. If people want to hurt us, hurt me, not you. If something happens to you, I'll surely will blame myself. For not protecting you better." I hug him. His arms tightening around my waist.
"No, don't say that. I dont like when you put me before yourself. You worry about my life before yours, but I don't. I worry about you life, Leon. You are the man of my life. That man that I looked my whole life, and I found where I never expected." We step away, I say looking at his eyes.
"When the words 'I love you' gets out of my mouth, I'm not throwing them. They're my feelings, the ones that I cant express enough." He lays his head on my chest and hiccups softly.
"I love you, Leon. Always and Forever." I kiss his head.
"I love you, my love."

This one is local for me. The perpetrators are in my approximate age group, I was 16 when this occurred. Most of us locals who remember when this was going on hold a seething resentment towards this group of punks, and for good reason. Let me tell you why...
So, The Lords of Chaos were a teen militia group who did their very best to terrorize Fort Myers, Florida back in 1996. This crime spree ended with the murder of the very much loved and respected Riverdale Highschool band director, Mr. Mark Schwebes. The teacher was a truly good and decent human being who went out of his way to help the kids around him. Sadly, his killers knew this and used it to their advantage.
The Lords of Chaos lived in one of the more remote areas of Lee County, a place called Buckingham. The group consisted of teenagers with ridiculous nicknames: Kevin Foster was the leader who referred to himself as "God" (yep, the sociopath had a bit of a God complex), Pete Magnotti was "Fried", Derek Shields was called "Mob", and Chris Black was a bigger boy referred to as " Slim". Those 4 were the main members of the gang, but there were others who were less involved: Thomas "Dog" Torrone, Chris "Red" Burnett, and Craig Lesh. The only one in the group to have a criminal record was their leader, Kevin, albeit mostly driving offenses. His parents owned a local pawnshop so Kevin had access to an arsenal of weapons which he was apparently not taught to respect; the weapon which would be used to commit murder, a 12-gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun with an equipped suppressor, had been a Christmas gift when he was just 13. Kevin is described as charismatic, homophobic, racist, and bigoted; he was enamored with the cult leader David Koresh, serials he'd seen on television like Norman Bates, outlaws such as Billy the Kid, and the homegrown terrorist Timothy McVeigh. Kevin wanted to do something big to catch a name for himself, he wanted a reputation; the rest of the group had no problem with following his lead.
This group's crime spree appears to have begun at the end of March when they stole a couple of Jeep Cherokees. They drove the new vehicles out to Lehigh Acres and set them on fire, just sat and watched them burn. Next, Kevin filled a Coke can with something which resembled gun powder and attached wires to it with duct tape; said can was placed on a shelf in a Walmart pharmacy. Kevin then called the store and told the employee who answered that there was a bomb inside; panicked shoppers were evacuated, police flocked to the store, it was a mess. This group did their best to destroy everything they could; they spent their time searching for things to steal, random windows to break, or places to set fire to.
On the evening of April 13th the Lords of Chaos decided to vandalize and rob a restaurant called The Hut. This restaurant happened to have an outdoor patio where customers would sit and eat, and there were two beautiful macaw parrots kept in a large cage. When Kevin heard the two macaw parrots talking, he decided to light them on fire. Macaws are not stupid animals, they're very intelligent parrots with a lifespan which rivals ours. Thankfully one of the birds did somehow survive this, but it lost its mate.
At midnight on April 20th Kevin decided to do something big, it was the anniversary of the Waco siege. The group drove to a historical landmark, our Coca-Cola bottling plant, one of the only original bottling plants in Florida. While Kevin carefully filled a soda can with gunpowder and stuck a 25 foot fireworks fuse inside of it, his buddies strategically placed stolen propane tanks all around the building; they carefully ensured that once Kevin's bomb went off, the whole building would blow. Once it was all set up, the teens sat in a safe spot across the street and watched the explosion; firefighters did their best to put out the fire, but our beloved historical building was lost.
So, it's probably obvious that all of this really upset people, by this point the entire county was beyond angry! A local reporter wrote an article about the ongoing vandalism, and said article was very insulting towards the group of punks who were responsible for these terrible acts. The group read this article, and it only added fuel to the fire, so to speak. In turn, they wrote a manifesto which they had intended to mail off to our local newspaper, the News Press. For whatever reason the manifesto was never sent; nevertheless, it read in part:
"Lee County is dealing with a formidable foe, with high caliber intelligence, balls of titanium alloy, and a wicked destructive streak. Be prepared for destruction of biblical proportions, for this is the coming of a NEW GOD, whose fiery hand shall lay waste to the populous.
THE GAMES HAVE JUST BEGUN, AND TERROR SHALL ENSUE..."
The spree continued with the robbery of a woman named Emory Shields; Emory was not only the owner of a small restaurant called Alva Country Diner, but she had been one of the teen's landlord. After robbing Ms. Shields, they stole her vehicle. At one point the gang took a trip to the Edison mall in hopes of stealing some clothing. They attempted to let off a grenade inside Dillard's, but thankfully it was a dud. Next, Kevin and his buddies decided to attend Grad Nite, which is a big deal for highschool seniors because they get to run around Disney World throughout the night. Kevin had a plan to steal one of the character suits and shoot up Disney, to kill as many teenagers as possible, but thankfully he chickened out.
On April 30th the teenagers drove to their own school, Riverdale, with the intention of trashing it. They stole several things, set off multiple fire extinguishers, then filled up a bottle of bleach with gas and threw it though the highschool's auditorium window. Riverdale's beloved band director, 32 year old Mr. Mark Schwebes, caught the group outside. He confiscated all of the items which they had stolen from the school, and threatened to tell the resource officer. Kevin knew that once the vandalism inside the school was discovered, the teacher would put two and two together and the group would be busted; he decided that the band teacher had to die before that could happen.
The teens found Mr. Schwebes phone number and address by calling 411. They dialed the teacher first, to ensure that they'd obtained the correct information; after hearing Mr. Schwebes voice, Kevin, Pete, Derek, and Chris Black all jumped in their vehicle and drove over. Kevin knew that the teacher would answer his door for a student he recognized, and since Derek had been a member of the band, that's who was sent knocking. At approximately 11:30 pm the teacher opened the door for his student, and Kevin immediately shot him in the face with his aforementioned 12 gauge. It's said that Mr. Schwebes probably never knew what hit him. When the teacher hit the ground, Kevin shot him once more, this time in the buttocks because he wrongly assumed Mr. Schwebes to be homosexual. The group didn't even bother to pick up the spent shells, they just left them at the scene.
There's really no telling what else would have happened or who else would've been hurt or killed had this group not been caught when they did; it's said that they had been planning to rob a local Hardee's restaurant when they were finally caught. Thankfully they were braggarts, and one of the teen's girlfriends couldn't keep the secret, she went to the police.
Craig and Brad faced no charges, while Tom and Chris Burnett both took deals; they plead guilty to lesser crimes and received very little punishment in exchange for their testimony against the main members of the group.
Chris Black, Derek Shields, and Pete Magnotti all pled guilty to first degree murder. Pete received 32 years imprisonment while Chris and Derek are serving life. The only one of the group to go to trial was Kevin Foster. On June 17th of 1998 Kevin was sentenced to death; he has appealed his conviction, but recently it was undecided if the penalty would stick. From what I understand there was a new trial in which Kevin blamed his upbringing for his actions and asked that his own life be spared. It was decided that Kevin will ultimately be put to death by the state of Florida.
*I think it was Dateline which aired a two hour special on this case, I would link it if I could find it. This special kinda irked me because, idk, it almost seemed like the man who covered it fell in love with Kevin. It made the small-time gang leader out to be more than he was, like he was this highly manipulative cult leading criminal mastermind, which just wasn't the case. Kevin wasn't well known, there was no big following, he was not a force to be reckoned with. Symphogear G- Sequelitis Strikes Again...
So, after watching the first season of Symphogear, finishing it in three days, and being hooked in an instant, naturally I was pumped to get to the next season to see what they would do with the plot, what new characters we'd get to see, how the old characters would be expanded upon, and how much more awesome the fights would get. And... would it be too harsh to say that it basically failed on most of that criteria?
Okay, yeah it would. But still, the reason this review took so long to come out is because I found this season to be a chore to get through. I still had a lot of fun, don't get me wrong, but it was a far cry from the excitement and investment I experienced in the first season. Where exactly did Symphogear G go wrong? Well, let's dive into that now.
Once again, this review will be spoiler-free for any who haven't seen the show yet.
Tumblr media
Plot:
What is Senshi Zesshou Symphogear G about?
After the events of the first season, Hibiki, Tsubasa and Chris along with the DRS are working with the esteemed Dr. Ver to preserve Solomon's Cane, a device that Finé used to summon Noise. However, it is soon revealed that the doctor is evil, and working with a terrorist organization known as Federal Institutes of Sacrist (FIS), and with Solomon's Cane in their possession, they now have control of the Noise.
On top of that, three new Symphogear users appear, only they are working on the side of FIS. The leaders of the three, Maria Cadenzavna Eve, claims to be the new reincarnation of Finé's soul, and she also possesses a dark version of Gungnir, Hibiki's Symphogear. With such a formidable ally, FIS demands that the world's governments relinquish all control to them, lest they unleash the Noise upon them in an all-out assault.
How will our heroes stop this new global threat? And why are a group of Gear users working for the enemy?
Tumblr media
At first, I thought the plot had a lot of intrigue and potential. While the first episode didn't grab me by the balls like Season 1 Episode 1 did, I was still interested to learn about the villainous Gear users and how the enemy's nefarious schemes would unfold. Unfortunately, if I could describe the execution of said plot in a single word, it would be "unbalanced."
Basically, the first half of G had great character and plot setup, but I found the fights somewhat lacking. Then, by episode 8, the fights had returned to their usual epicness and badassery, but the plot and characters had taken a turn for the worst.
Whereas Season 1 felt like it was continuous building and building with each episode, stuff just... happens in Symphogear G. Characters motivations are set up, but either forgotten or completely changed halfway through the show. It honestly felt like the writers were making G's story up as they went along.
The issues I had with Season 1's story are present here as well, in that the villain's motivation is incredibly confusing and not made 100% clear until the last couple of episodes. FIS's main goal is to save humanity from the Moon, which will soon crash into the Earth due to the damage it endured from Finé. However, they go about this by... killing people? I understand innocent bloodshed is necessary in most evil "save the world" schemes, but is this really the best way to convince the rest of the world that you're here to help?
Either I'm just really dumb, or Symphogear just isn't very good at explaining things.
Another thing that bothered me about this season was the usage of Swan Songs. In Symphogear G, there's not one, but TWO methods that allow Gear users to sing their Swan Songs without dying. "Tension? Consequences? WhAt ThE hElL aRe ThOsE?!"
However, the worst part about this confused and structurally unbalanced plot is how it affects the character development.
Characters:
I'm going to cover the three lead characters and Miku very briefly (cause there honestly isn't much to talk about) so we can discuss the new characters in more detail.
Tumblr media
Remember how I praised Hibiki in Season 1 for being a flat character done right? Well, in G, the writers attempted to give Hibiki somewhat of an arc by having the villains call her a "hypocrite." At first, I was intrigued as to what they meant by this. Then, there was a point where Hibiki went Berserk again, and I figured "Oh, they mean that because she can't control her Gear, she's a danger to the people she's trying to protect!" Nope. Once Hibiki returns to normal, she never goes Berserk again, and her plot becomes about her dealing with the Gungnir fragments slowly killing her from the inside. Soooo... why is she a hypocrite again? An excellent question! ...that's never answered. Weak.
I wasn't the biggest fan of Tsubasa in Season 1, finding her over-the-top EDGE a bit too much for my taste. However, I will give credit that she at least had an arc. In G, she does absolutely nothing. She has no arc, no motivation, and contributes nothing to the plot (thankfully her strict, yet compassionate personality is left untouched). I initially thought she would have some conflict with Maria, given that the two had a bit of a standoff in Episode 1, with Tsubasa angry at Maria for possessing Kanade's Gear. Much like Hibiki's Berserk Mode, though, this conflict was never expanded upon or brought up again, relegating Tsubasa to a glorified background character.
Chris was my favorite character in Season 1, with her fiery tsundere personality and redemption arc. But much like Tsubasa, she suffered the fate of being pushed to the sidelines. Chris started out in a tough spot, transferring into Hibiki and Tsubasa's school and bearing little to no social skills. This new environment throws her for a loop, especially when a group of her classmates try to befriend her. I interpreted this as Chris not only struggling with social anxiety due to her hatred of people in Season 1, but also still harboring some guilt over her actions and not feeling worthy of friendship or care whatsoever. Okay, fair enough.
Well guess what else the writers forgot about?! 🤪
And alas, let's talk about Miku...... Oh my sweet little angel, what have they done to you??? Miku was the heart and soul of Season 1; she was Hibiki's emotional support; her Sun that warmed her whenever she felt dark. In G, she's just useless. The writers, like Hibiki, try to give her an arc (that doesn't start till episode 6...) where she wants to protect Hibiki from the Gungnir killing her. The way the writers execute this promising arc, however, is nothing short of insulting. Long story short, she fails to protect Hibiki in any single way. Instead, Hibiki ends up being the one still protecting her. Good job, Symphogear G.
With all that out of the way, I can FINALLY move onto something more positive. While I may not like what G did with the protagonists, the same cannot be said for the villains. These people are what made this season enjoyable to me.
Maria Candenzavna Eve
Tumblr media
Maria is objectively the best character of the season. I really don't see how anyone could argue otherwise. She has a gut-wrenching backstory, a clearly defined motivation, and every action she takes, while not always the most logical, makes sense to how she is feeling at the time.
Maria's sister, Serena, who was also a Gear user, used her Swan Song to save FIS from an out-of-control experiment. Immediately following this, the scientists berated the deceased Serena for destroying something they had put so much work in. Maria was enraged by the idea that they would do this to someone, a child nonetheless, who had just sacrificed her life for them. However, instead of retaliating and seeking revenge on FIS for this, Maria dedicates her actions to protecting human lives so that Serena's sacrifice wouldn't be in vain. And unlike the rest of FIS, she actually goes out of her way to avoid killing anyone! Of course, she eventually learns the hard way that saving everyone may be an impossibility...
Also, she gets one of the most adrenaline-pumping and yet emotional fights, accompanied by her kickass battle song, which is probably my favorite of the entire series now.
Kirika Akatsuki
Tumblr media
Hot-blooded, cheerful, and insistent on ending every sentence with "I say!" Kirika is nothing short of a joy to watch. She's a welcome entry in the villain faction, which desperately needed someone lighthearted to counteract the dead sister angst. Of course, this doesn't mean she's is without her own conflicts.
Kirika's main drive is, aside from saving the innocent, protecting her girlfriend best friend Shirabe. She's constantly trying to cheer her up cold-hearted friend and remind her that what they're doing is the right thing. However, this protective instinct leads to a discovery that changes her for the worst, and the rest of the show is her tragic and slow descent into madness, leading to a heartbreaking scene in the final battle that left me going "damn, they went there."
Kirika's Gear is cool enough, but not my favorite. It's mostly just a scthye and boomerangs, making it not much different from Tsubasa's Gear. Or at least, her Gear isn't as impressive as our next antagonist...
Shirabe Tsukuyomi
Tumblr media
Cold, distant, but ruthless in combat (beware the quite ones), Shirabe is a great foil to her lover friend Kirika, or "Kiri-chan" as she likes to call her. One could say that Shirabe is an emotionless husk, but as the story plays out we learn that, like most tsunderes, this is merely a mask to hide how much she cares for the people around her. She harbors a deep respect and admiration for Maria and an unbreakable bond with Kirika.
Shirabe bears a strong resentment towards Hibiki, being the one to drill home the fact that she's a "hypocrite" (for reasons I'm still not hugely clear on...). She believes that FIS is the only hope humanity has for survival. Of course, once her idol, Maria, starts to lose sight of this goal, Shirabe becomes conflicted, and starts to question which side is right. I love it when villains don't know which path to take. Such delicious angst! 😬
As much as I love Chris' Gear, Shirabe's may just be my new favorite. Her pigtails transform into mechanical arms with sawblades! She can spawn a giant sawblade to ride around on like a giant wheel! She can turn into a giant robot with sawblades for arms! Y'know, I'm starting to think I like saw-based weapons...
Professor Nastassja
Tumblr media
My only complaint about this character is that no one ever made fun of her name.
Prof. Nastassja, or "Mom" as Maria, Kirika and Shirabe call her, is the serious, straightforward thinking mastermind of FIS's operations. She was there when Serena died in front of Maria, and after seeing her determination to protect people, she decided to push Maria towards their ultimate goal of "saving" mankind from the Moon crashing. Thankfully, this woman actually has a head on her shoulders, and comes to realize that killing people probably isn't the best way to save them (who'da thunk?) and thus sets out on a path of redemption. Damn, what's with villains this season realizing that they might be wrong? I love it!
Of course, on the deep end of the villains spectrum, we have the only one who doesn't realize the error of his ways...
Dr. Ver
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just a sample of the many amazing faces this guys makes.
Everyone loves a good psychopath. And oh boy, does this guy really underline the "psycho" part of that word. Constantly laughing manically, making theatrical gestures, spawning Noise with an itchy trigger finger, and declaring loud and proud that HE is the hero of this story. I could watch him for hours.
While Dr. Ver's motivation does stem from FIS's overly convoluted plot, he makes it very clear that he has his own agenda. He may claim he strives for the salvation of humanity, but his actions say otherwise. And that's why he's so great. He doesn't have a complex backstory or a redemption arc. He's just evil through and through and he loves every minute of it. As Alfred once said to Bruce Wayne: "Some men just want to watch the world burn." 😈
Alright, that's all the new characters out of the way. Time to move onto my favorite section before I wrap things up...
Yuri:
Tumblr media
The yuri content this season was, like the rest of it, a mixed bag. The best way I can sum it up is that it took one giant leap forward, and another giant leap back.
First and foremost, our star couple of the show: HibiMiku. Or they would be the star of the show if they had more screentime. Yeah, G really did this couple dirty. They don't even hold a conversation together until Episode 6! And then they throw in the whole conflict of Miko wanting to protect Hibiki. I guess the writers were relying on the sentiment they'd built on HibiMiku from the last season, but I feel like the two could've have at least TALKED about Miku not wanting Hibiki to fight before throwing her into the action. There was one scene twowards the end with the two of them that really got me in the feels, but it was hardly enough to make up for the whole lot of nothing we got from the rest of the season.
Second, we have the two that ultimately saved the yuri content in G: KiriShira. They look good together? Check. Complimenting personalities? Check. Emotional support? Check. Each character has their own motivation and arc outside of their relationship? Check. These two are not only absolutely adorable together, but unlike HibiMiku, which is more implied (even though there shouldn't be any doubt they're dating), KiriShira actually gets a love confession! I haven't seen that in a magical girl show since Sailor Moon Crystal when Hotaru confessed to Chibi-Usa! I'll have to see more of these two before I can say for sure, but I might actually prefer KiriShira to HibiMiku at this point. Gonna have to see how the rest of the series plays out!
Conclusion:
Symphogear G is a considerable step down from Season 1 in my opinion. While I absolutely adore the antagonists and love (MOST) of the yuri content we got, the story and protagonists just didn't do it for me this time around, which is a shame considering how much I liked them in Season 1. The fight scenes in the first couple of episodes were less than impressive, which had me nervous, but they thankfully stepped up towards the end, delivering one hell of a climactic finale.
Also, I'm not gonna lie, the final episode got me choked up.
I may have been to hard on this season when I started this review. Despite my numerous issues, I still enjoyed myself throughout and I am looking forward to the next season. I sincerely hope my issues with the plot and protagonists are rectified because I do love this series. What's done well in G is really good, but what fails in G really fails. Oh well, not every season of a franchise can be a masterpiece. I'm just praying that it's all uphill from here. 🙏
Rating: 6/10
Hope you all enjoyed! I'll see you in my review of Symphogear GX, my fellow yuri lovers! ❤️😊❤️

Malibu Love: Chapter 41
“Xavier put that down please, your dad will get mad.” Lauren said as she looked at the young boy
“No.” The boy protested and kept playing with Mike’s high school trophy
“Xavier, I’m not Taylor and you can’t get your way with me, you should know that by now.”
“No.”
Just as the word left his mouth, Jacob walks into the room and looks at Lauren.
“Freckles, why is my son playing with dad’s stuff?”
“Because he won’t listen to me.” Lauren lets out a loud groan “I suck at this.”
“No you don’t, he’s just not used to you. Javi, gently put that thing down and come here.”
The boy looks at his dad and puts the trophy down before walking over to him.
“Am I in trouble?”
“This time, no. But you have to listen to auntie Lolo when she tells you what to do, okay? If she tells you to put abuelo’s trophy down then you’ll do it, or do you want abuelo to get mad at you and stop buying you candies?”
“No.” Xavier shakes his head “Me like candies.”
“I like.” Lauren mumbles
“Lauren.” Jacob chuckles “Let him be, he’s a kid.”
“Yeah, so was Chris and look at him now. Still can’t spell or use proper grammar.”
Jacob fakes a gasp. “My son is nothing like Chris!”
“Where’s uncle Chris?” Xavier interrupts them
“At practice nugget.”
“Why do you always call me nugget?”
“Do you not like it?” Lauren questions and Xavier only shrugs before going back to his toys
“Thank you for taking care of him for the past few days.”
“Hey, it’s not a big deal. You know I’d do everything I can to help you out.”
“I know. I’ll miss you when you move out, I got so used to having you around the house-”
“It’s like fifteen minutes away Jacob.” Lauren laughs
“I know but a part of me feels like when-”
“When I left for New York?” Lauren cuts him off with a question and he nods his head
“Yeah.”
“I know that when I left you were the one who suffered the most-”
“I’m sure Camila had it worse."
"Maybe.” Lauren shrugs “What I wanted to say is, I understand you and your feelings are valid, always, but I’m not going away this time. I’m staying right here. Miami is my home. This house, people who live in it, you’re my home. I’m sorry for not visiting more often while I was in New York, or bringing you there. We were partners in crime and suddenly I was gone and you were left to fight against Chris on your own. I love Chris, but you two are so different and at times I feel as if you're my twin and not his.”
“Hashtag same.” Jacob jokes
“Idiot.” Lauren whispers and looks at her nephew to make sure he didn’t hear her
“Language.” Jacob scolds her anyway
“Yes mom.” Lauren rolls her eyes and Jacob laughs
“Ugh, you’re so annoying."
"Have you met yourself?”
“I’m awesome.”
“Who said that?”
“My kid. Hey, X-man, do you think your daddy is awesome?” Jacob raises his voice so Xavier can hear him
“Yes!” The boy claps a few time excitedly and goes back to playing with his toys
“See.”
“Xavier doesn’t count.”
“His opinion is the only one that counts.”
“That’s so cute.” Lauren gushes
Jacob looks at his son and then back at his older sister. “Honestly, he’s the best thing that’s happened to me.”
“I feel like that’ll be with me in a few months.” Lauren says as she rubs her belly
“Yeah, probably. But you’re cute with kids.”
“So are you.”
“It’s The Jaureguis genes.”
“Yeah, probably.” Lauren agrees
“Oh damn, I have to take Xavier back home. I’ll probably stay over the night, when do you work tomorrow?”
“Until five, why?”
“How about we go out for dinner? Just you and me.”
“Sounds good.” Lauren nods in agreement
“Okay great, I’ll try to get the car so I can pick you up at work?”
“Fine by me.” Lauren smiles
“Xavier, come, we have to go, say bye to auntie Lolo.”
“By auntie Lolo.”
“What, do I not get a hug?” Lauren pouts and the boy runs over to her to give her a tight hug
“What a cute nugget."
"Nugget.” Xavier repeats to himself and Lauren only laughs before kissing her head
The rest of the week goes by without much happening. Lauren is trying to fit in at work and she’s doing a great job so far. After all, she’s been there for only a week and a half, it’s normal to still feel a bit lost. Like a new kid in a high school, well, kind of.
Just as she leaves the building on Wednesday afternoon her phone rings and she answers it without even looking at the screen, the tone is set for one person only.
“Hey Nick.” Lauren says as she walks down the street to the bus stop
“Hey Nick? Hey to you too Lauren. Why did Normani make an appointment to see me so we can discuss me landing her some money for the apartment in Miami, which she’ll be sharing with you.”
“Because she wanted to?”
“Lauren. Why didn’t you just ask me?”
“Because you’d never let me pay you off Nick.”
“And I would let Normani pay off for you?”
“No, Mani and I would pay you off together.”
“But you know I’d just give you the money, my kid will-”
“I don’t want you to just give me your money. This is my place, and well Mani’s, I want to pay for it myself-”
“Again, Lauren my kid is inside of you. I told you I want to help in any way I can, and paying for your apartment is the least I can do.”
“No it’s not.” Lauren argues “That’s a lot of money.”
“Lauren,” Nick chuckles “you know money has never been an issue for me.”
“I know Nick, but this is a lot of money and I can’t just ask you to give it to me.”
“And you’re not asking. I’m offering.”
“And I’m saying no.”
“Lauren, this is not about you only. It’s also about our kid, and about Normani.”
“I know Nick, I just, I don’t want to take your money, why can’t you understand that?”
“I do Lauren!” Nick was frustrated by now “Listen, let’s make a deal, I’ll give you the money and you’ll pay me back, but only the half of it. Consider it as a help for my kid.”
“Nick.”
“Dammit Lauren! It’s take it or leave it.”
“I’ll take it.” Lauren says “But, we pay more than a half, 2/3.”
“Lauren-”
“No, don’t you Lauren me, you said you’re paying for your kid so you’ll pay for your kid, but Mani and I will pay for ourselves.”
“I don’t like that deal.”
“Well, it’s take it or leave it.” Lauren mocks him
“I’ll take it. Fine. I’ll be in Miami next week.”
“Great.”
“So, we good?”
“We good. Hey, my bus just came and it’s packed, I have to hang up, I’ll call you later, or tomorrow, okay?”
“Yeah, take care of yourself Lo.”
“You too Nick.”
The bus ride to her bus stop was filled with Marian Hill’s music blasting through her earphones and her head bopping to the rhythm.
A sigh of relief escaped her lips as the bus pulled up and she walked outside of the can full of tunas, as she liked to call it. The bus was crop crowded and too smelly for her liking but she had to wait for a few more days until Chris brings the car from his friend’s place, she’ll survive.
As she walked down the street she heard someone calling her name.
“Dinah Jane, what a lovely surprise.” Lauren grinned as she hugged the taller girl
“Well, well, well, it really is you. Lauren Jauregui back in Miami. How so?” Dinah questioned
“Oh please, you’re telling me your best friend did not tell you I got a job here?”
“She might or might not have. I can’t tell you what she tells me.”
“Of course.” Lauren chuckles
“It’s been so long since I’ve seen you.”
“I know, I know. I fully take the blame.”
“As you should gurl.” Dinah jokes
“Funny as always I see.”
“Well someone has to be funny.”
“Hey, are you doing anything? Do you maybe want to go and grab some coffee?”
“Sure. I know a good place a few streets away, we can walk if you don’t mind?”
“I’d much rather walk than take a bus again.”
“Same girl, I really need to buy a car. Soon, hopefully.”
Soon, they are seated at the corner of Dinah’s favorite coffee place and they are going down the memory line. After all, they have been playing together since middle school and all throughout high school.
“So, how’s Nick?”
“He’s fine.” Lauren replies, not really surprised Dinah knows his name
“Is he also in Miami?”
“Nope. He’s coming over next week so we can sort out apartment papers and shit.”
“Right. I want to meet him.”
“Why?” Lauren eyes her suspiciously
“I just do?” Dinah shrugs “I’m not gonna steal him from you, if that’s what you’re worried about.”
“He’s a bookworm and you’re into sporty guys so he ain’t your type anyway.”
“If he looks anything like Mark, he might as well be.”
“Nick’s more handsome.”
“That’s what Camila said for Mark.”
Lauren laughs although she doesn’t really feel like laughing.
“Yeah, well… She’s dating him so I’d hope she likes Mark more than Nick.”
“Liking someone more didn’t stop her from dating someone else in the past.” Dinah says and Lauren isn’t sure if she’s talking about Camila’s high school boytoys or about their summer affair
“True. How is she anyway?”
“She’s good. Kinda busy with some things but it’s whatever.”
“What about you? Are you busy with anything? College?”
“Hah, no. I’m not in college. I didn’t even bother to try with it. I work at my aunt’s children daycare and I’m loving it so far.”
“I always did think you’ll end up doing something with kids.”
“Something legal I hope cause that sounded kind of off.”
“Something legal, yes.” Lauren laughs
“Well, if you ever need a daycare you know who to call. Although if you’re anything like Walz, I’ll have to wait for like ten more years to take care of your kids.”
“I doubt I am.” Lauren says and takes a sip of her tea
“Then give me your phone so I can give you my number. We can just meet for a coffee until you start popping out kids out of yourself.”
“You don’t just pop out a kid.”
“You kind of do Lauren.” Dinah chuckles
“Unbelievable.”
Dinah’s phone buzzes and she looks at the screen. “Crap, I have to go because Gina is feeling sick. Text me so I can save your number.”
“I will.” Lauren nods and stands up as well
They walk outside and give each other one final hug before Dinah starts walking.
“Hey Dinah?” Lauren’s voice stops her
“Hm?”
Lauren bits her lip nervously because she knows this question might change everything.
“Is she happy?” She asks so quiet that Dinah almost misses it
Dinah smirks for a split second before replying. “You have her number, why don’t you text her yourself?”
Lauren knows that Dinah is right but somehow, she doesn’t text Camila. She’s not even sure if the other girl is back to Miami or still in Malibu.
She doesn’t ask Dinah, although their coffee dates become a daily thing considering Dinah’s job is just around the corner from Lauren’s bus stop. And because Dinah is Dinah, she realizes something is up.
“How come you never drink coffee anymore? You used to live on that shit during your junior and senior year.”
“I’m trying to slow down with the caffeine, one coffee a day, which I have when I get to work.”
“Right, but not even a latte? Cappuccino?”
“Nope.” Lauren grins
“You’re so weird.” Dinah mumbles, loud enough for Lauren to hear and fake a gasp
“Rude.”
“So, Nick’s coming over tomorrow? When do I meet him?”
“You don’t.”
“Damn girl, well maybe he’ll come at the same time as his brother and brother’s girlfriend, so I’ll just bump into y'all.”
“Camila is coming over tomorrow?”
“Mhm.” Dinah smirks
“When?”
“Why don’t you text her and ask her?”
“Or, I can just ask Nick when his brother is coming back to Miami.” Lauren says and pulls out her phone
“That didn’t go as planned.” Dinah mumbles again
“Why do you want me to text Camila so much anyway? Did she say anything?”
“About?”
“I don’t know?”
“Lauren, you know I care about you and we’ve been friends for years, but you’re an idiot. Do you really think Camila didn’t text me anything about you?”
“No, I know she did. I’m pretty sure you know everything that happened during the summer.”
“I know a lot. I don’t even want to know everything.”
“Fair point.”
“All I’m saying is, I know both Walz and you, you need to get your shits together and chase your own damn happiness.”
“If only it was that easy.”
“It is! If you make each other happy, you break up with the brothers and date each other, how hard can that be?”
“Trust me, it’s far more complicated than that.”
“Only because you’re making it to complicated.”
Lauren decided to switch the subject but somehow Dinah’s words didn’t leave her mind at all. Was the only reason that this situation is complicated that they actually made it complicated? Or was it complicated before? Would it be this complicated had it been anyone else?
Thankfully, Nick informed her that Mark and Camila are coming in the afternoon and not in the morning like he is. She really wasn’t sure what she’d tell Camila if she saw her anyway.
When the morning came and Lauren finished getting ready she made her way downstairs to the kitchen.
“Morning.” She greeted her siblings
“Hey freckles, wanna eat something?”
“Cereals.” Lauren mumbled, still half asleep
Taylor, who just finished with her own breakfast got up and poured some cereals into the bowl for her sister.
“Here you go.” The younger Latina said as she took a seat next to her sister
“So, when are you going to the airport?” Chris questioned
“I should get going in like an hour or so.”
“Do you need anyone to come with you?”
“Maybe she’d like to have some time alone with her boyfriend Chris.” Taylor replied
Another thing, none of her siblings didn’t know she and Nick broke up. Actually, no one except for Lucy and Normani knew, and well Nick’s boyfriend to be.
“I’d like to go alone, I have some things to talk about with Nick.”
“I’m sure you do.” Chris smirks
“Ew, can we not?” Taylor questions
“What, it’s just sex, normal topic, we all had it, Jacob for sure."
When Taylor doesn’t reply Lauren decides to butt in.
"Chris don’t be an asshole, it’s too early to talk about this subject. And why would you even want to discuss sexual life at all, especially mine, during a meal?”
“I wasn’t- I didn’t-” Chris tried to say something but couldn’t form a sentence
“Dude, just drop it.” Lauren
“Whatever, we have to go anyway, get up.” Chris said to Jacob who rolled his eyes
“Is the lunch date for the five of us still on?” Jacob asked as he got up
“Of course, Nick and I will come home from the airport, get Tay and meet you two there.”
“Great. See you there."
"And then, there were two.” Taylor joked once she and Lauren were left alone
“I saw the look on your face, don’t feel bad. It’s not a big deal.” Lauren replied
“I don’t know what you’re talking about."
"Tay, don’t play dumb.”
“Lauren-”
“Sex.”
“Oh, that.”
“Yeah, that. Look, it is not a big deal, okay? If you’re not ready, you’re not ready. You’re sixteen, it doesn’t matter.”
“When did you–?”
“The first time?” Lauren questions
“Yeah.”
“With Camila for my birthday, right before mom and dad sent me to Maritza’s.”
“So, after your junior year?”
“Yeah.”
“Have you ever been with a guy-”
“Taylor I’m pregnant.”
“I meant to say, before Nick.”
“Oh, that, no. I mean, it’s not like I didn’t have a choice to do it, I just didn’t.”
“So, only Nick and Camila?”
“Well, no. Camila and I had a really complicated relationship, like really complicated. At one point we started sleeping around to get back at each other. I’m not sure who started it first nor why, but we did it. So, there’s been a few of other girls. It was mostly me doing them, though.”
“Okay, I’m done talking about sex.”
Lauren let out a chuckle and hugged her sister. “You know I’m here if you have any question, right?”
“Yeah.”
“And I hope you know that you should just listen to your heart. If you’re not ready, don’t push it. And if you find a nice guy who tries to force you to do it when you don’t want to, kick him in the balls and call me to come and pick you up.”
“I promise.” Taylor smiles
“Do you want me to drop you off at Angela’s place before I leave?”
“Yeah, let me just grab my stuff.” Taylor says and walks upstairs to get her bag
Once she drops her sister at her friend’s place, Lauren drives to the airport to pick up her ex-boyfriend, not knowing he is bringing a surprise with him.
A good one.
A one that has a form of a black goddess.
While Lauren was hugging her boyfriend she felt someone tapping her shoulder and once she turned around she couldn’t help but grin at the girl in front of her.
“Mani!”
“Hey mama.” Normani said and pulled Lauren into a tight hug, kissing the crown of her head
“I missed you.” Lauren mumbles into Normani’s hair
“Do you guy need a room?”
“No, I’m straight and she’s into Latinas anyway.” Normani smirks
“Any news on the certain Latina anyway?” Nick asks
“No.” Lauren mumbles “I didn’t text her since I came to Miami.”
“You’re dumb.” Normani says and Nick hums in agreement
“Did you two come here so you can bully me?”
“No, we came to move the fuck in, well I’m moving in, Nick is paying for it.” The dark skinned girl winked at Nick who only laughed
“I’m hungry, can we get going?” Nick proposed and the girls agreed
With Normani’s hand into her own and Nick carrying their bags the three of them walked outside of the airport and into the car.
The ride was pretty chill and comfortable, Lauren asking about Nick’s boyfriend-to-be and Normani’s plans for the gym in Miami.
“Oh shit. We made plans for lunch, the four of us and Nick.” Lauren mumbles
“It’s okay, I’ll just stay in your room, or I could hit up Alexa, she and I have been in touch since your birthday.”
“Alexa and I haven’t really been in touch since my birthday.” Lauren says sadly
“Well, you could always invite her to go furniture shopping with us?”
“Hm, I’ll do that, yes. But, you’ll go with us, I just hope Chris will behave because he didn’t really during my birthday.”
“He’s kind of a fuckboy, want me to talk to him?” Nick offered
“Yes please.” Lauren replied and the other two laughed “Oh, one more thing. I didn’t tell them we broke up. And only Tay and Jake know I’m pregnant. If I told Chris, he’d tell everyone and I’m not ready yet.”
“That’s okay with me.” Nick replies
“You were supposed to sleep in my room but now Mani is here and I don’t-”
“I can sleep on the couch, or Jacob’s room. Jake won’t mind, right?”
“No, I don’t think he will, he likes you.”
“That’s nice to know."
"Why you acting like you don’t know her family loves you? Boy, quit playin.”
The rest of the day is spent in joking around and being lazy. Although they broke up, Nick and Lauren are still hugging and talking a lot so it’s not really obvious they broke up.
Normani ends up sleeping with Lauren and Nick ends up sleeping on the pull out couch in Jacob’s room, not the best place but it’ll do.
It’s needless to say that the house was overpacked, but neither Clara or Michael minded it even a bit. They loved their kids and their friends.
“Alexa said we should pick her up around ten.” Normani says as they are getting ready for bed
“Okay.” Lauren replies
“You’re not mad I called her right?”
“I’m not but I’m kind of anxious.”
“Of what? She was your best friend for years.”
“Was, yes. And then I left and we kind of, fell apart.”
“I kept in touch with Lucy because we were always closer then I was to Alexa or Vero. Lucy is still in touch with them because she’d go to Miami far more often.”
“Okay but for your birthday, you two seemed close.”
“There are some people, you can not talk with them for months or years, and when you see each other you just pick up where you left. Alexa is one of those people for me. Vero, not so much.”
“Then why are you so anxious?”
“Because, it’s one thing to see someone for someone’s birthday and talk to them for a bit, but it’s another thing to try and put play on the friendship that’s been ont he pause for the past three years.”
“And you have me right by your side, if you don’t feel comfortable then I’ll make up how we should go.”
Lauren chuckles. “I don’t like lying to Lexi.”
“And you won’t, I’ll lie to her.”
“Okay.” Lauren nods
“Yeah? Good, now go to sleep, I need my beauty sleep.”
“Why? You’re already beautiful?”
“And I wanna stay that way bitch. Sleep.”
“Fine, can we cuddle?”
“Only if I’m the big spoon.”
“This is why we’re best friends.” Lauren grins and turns her back to Normani who only rolls her eyes
It doesn’t take long for them to fall asleep.

Tumblr media
Y/N POV
I'm on my way to the battle against Simmons, yeah he himself. Derek C. Simmons, National Security Adviser. It happened all over again, Raccoon City. The EUA called me on behalf of Leon who called for backup. But they sent just me.
Leon didn't know that I was going, but he thought that they were going to send a few soldiers, so did I. The only one that knows that I'm going is Chris Redfield, my best friend.
Leon is my boyfriend of 6 months. We met each other on the tragedy of Raccoon City. Until today I cant believe that a good thing came out of there. Leon and i were trained together, when we got out of the city. After that, we are inseparable.
I'm in the chopper for 10 minutes and we haven't arrived yet. I have my back against the chopper's wall and my hands holding the pendant that Leon gave me in our first date.
I tried to convince him for me to go with him, but he said that it was too dangerous, he begged. So I stayed.
"We're almost there." The pilot said breaking my thoughts.
I get up and take a look at the window, I glimpse a thing flying.
"What is that?" I think.
Immediately I realise what it is. A missel coming towards the chopper.
"WATCH OUT!" I scream but there was no time, the missel had already exploded the chopper down.
LEON POV
Helena and I just got off the water close to the rails where apparently we defeated Simmons. Finally, I hope it all ends and goes back to normal. I wanna go back home, to Y/N. I miss her, so much.
When we arrive at the top of the stairs, we found a few soldiers evacuating the city. It's the best thing to do in the moment.
"Leon, Leon, come in. Sherry Birkin and Jake Muller were abducted and taken to an undersea oil field about 80 miles from you." Hunnigan speaks on the earpiece. I look at Helena.
"Abducted? What do you mean?" I ask, with a tone of worry.
" I've got a Chris Redfield on the line."
"Chris Redfield?" I think.
"Leon, are you there?" I put my finger above the earpiece to hear better.
"Yeah, I'm here. Look Chris, an agent Sherry Birkin and Jake Muller were abducted. I know that you're mission is close to an undersea oil field, I need you to rescue them. He's Wesker's son." I warn him, knowing he has a dark past with him.
"Wesker?" He asks with a tone of hesitation on his voice.
"Chris, he's the key to stop the C-virus." A silence falls on us. This is our only chance. Helena looks at me shaking her head. I sigh.
"Alright, got it. On my way." His answer relieves me. We don't have to worry with them anymore, I trust Chris and I know he will save them.
"Great. Thank you." I'm about to hang over when he calls me.
"Leon, wait..." I hear his breath and that is driving me anxious and a not so good feeling takes over me.
"Y/N is dead." My world stops, I just listen my heart beating, faster than normal.
"The government sent her in a chopper, I got the news just now that it was knocked down, no survives." In this moment I froze. The love of my life, was gone. Not her, please don't.
"Leon, come in. Look man, I'm shocked too she was my best friend, dammit. I got go, stay safe." With that he hanged over. I still don't believe his words. She cant be dead, no. I dont accept it.
Helena comes close noticing my situation, she tries to put her hand on my shoulder but I walk away, scared.
"Leon, calm down. Breath." I fall in tears.
"My God." I whisper.
Not her.
Y/N POV
The famous bad luck. I managed to get out of the chopper in time with my hook but I ended up falling and I now I have a metal stuck to my thigh.
"Wonderful." I think feeling the pain. I have to get this out, it's just going to bother me if I let.
I enter an alley and sit on the ground. I'm lucky I brought first aid kit. This wound it's not looking good.
I take the metal, closing my eyes. Better take it fast, that passes fast. I give it a pull not taking it fully, I let out a scream of pain. Ouch, it hurts. I give it another pull, taking out fully. I let out another scream. I clean the wound and make a band aid, tied to my thigh.
"It's gonna be a scar." I think trying to get up leaning on the wall. I have to continue the mission, even if I'm limping.
The only clue I have it's that I have to go to a tower. I got a shortcut, arriving there in 15 minutes.
When I get there, everything is so quiet and destroyed, really. I think a fight happened here, with Simmons maybe. My leg is still hurting but I'm not limping anymore.
"That's good and weird at the same time." I think making a face and going towards the elevator.
Even at times like this, I'm dumb. If Leon was here, he would kiss me and say that I'm not dumb even in the slightest. I miss him, it's been two weeks since he was at home, I didn't have news from him ever since. I hope I meet him.
While thinking I enter the elevator and lean my body on the wall. " Badly got here and everything's already shit." I say frustrated and let out a laugh.
I see through the elevator's glass door, the whole city on fire, Raccoon city all over again. This never ends.
Breaking through mu thoughts, I hear a noise, not good I suppose. The elevator stopped. I dont know why but I have a feeling that it will fall. I feel someone or something kneading the top of the elevator, with that I get out of it and jump to a lower surface. I jump and roll, feeling the pressure on my thigh. When I look back, the elevator falls and above it, it's who I bet it is. Simmons in his mutant form.
"Shit!" I run to the other edge away from him, and take my machine gun. He jumps to the surface and I start shooting at him, but he doesn't stop moving.
"Son of a bitch." I whisper. A few shots hit him but he still managed to come towards me.
I feel the surface almost falling, I take my hook and shoot to a surface above me.
I take my rifle and start shooting, but I hear shooting noises behind me. I look behind me and I see Leon and Helena on a surface far away from me. I get back to Simmons that returned to his human form, for a short time.
I run to him, still feeling my thigh hurting and pin him to the ground. I throw punches at him until I notice that he's going to transform again.
I get away and noticed that he's going towards Leon and Helena, that are climbing an elevator rope. I take my rifle and start shooting at him again.
"Not him!" I say shooting my last bullet that didn't solve nothing. Damn, out of ammo.
"Fuck!" I lost all focus when I'm going to get more ammo from my pocket, not knowing Simmons was planning his next attack.
He pushes me, I lost balance making my head hit the ground, next he hits my thigh. I scream in pain. I try to crawl back but my legs and arms give in. I start to whimper and squirm. Everything's hurting. My eyes are so blurry, I cant see very well, so I close them.
It's over. Everything. I see all my life pass through my eyes, each moment, each memory.
"Y/N!!" I hear far away not knowing who exactly said it.
Suddenly I feel someone beside me and warm hands on my shoulders.
Leon.
"Babe, please, stay with me." Leon says worried and relieved at the same time. I feel him laying me on his thigh.
"Wake up, you can do it. I cant lose you." He says, his voice broken, that makes my heart ache.
"Ah, Love, a weakness. Only destroys."
Simmons says getting close.
"Not from my point of view." Leon shoots back. I feel a twinge on my thigh.
"Ahh!" I force my eyes closed. I raise my hand to search for Leon's face.
"Le...on" I mumble. He takes my hand and puts on his chest, where his heart is. I can feel his heart beating so fast. I try to open my eyes but it's still blurry. I can see Simmons getting closer from us. I turn my head to Leon, I catch a glimpse of his blue eyes, asking me if I'm okay.
Leon protects me when Simmons does his attack. I hug him for dear life, still feeling the pain on my leg.
When the attack is over, we pull apart and look at each other, I notice his red eyes. He sighs and I give a weak smile.
He gets up and helps me get up too, I'm still limping. Simmons coming in our direction.
"Stay close. The leg doesn't look good." He says aiming at Simmons with his wing shooter and mentioning to my thigh.
I reload my rifle, Leon and I shoot at him at the same time.
"Helena, a little help here." I say in the earpiece, letting out a laugh. Leon, besides me, does the same.
Simmons gets knocked down, we get closer to him until he gets up and throws Leon to the edge making him fall.
"Leon! You bastard!" I say to Simmons.
"Do you want to live? Then begg! Begg for your life." He exclaims while kicking Leon's hand when he tries to get up.
"I'll pass." Leon says and I get my Magnum aiming to Simmon's head.
"Bye, bye, asshole." I shoot at him making him fall from the surface and Leon gets up.
I limp to Leon. "Are you okay?" Leon is standing looking. I'm getting worried. "Leon..." I'm interrupted by him sealing our lips.
He pulls me closer, closing the gap between our bodies. I close my eyes, enjoying the moment. His lips are so soft and his breath smells like mint. This man is perfect. His hands are on my waist and mine are passing to his neck to his hair. I tug at it making him growl. I open my mouth giving entrance to Leon's tongue. We are in a deep kiss full of love. He goes down starting to leave kisses on my neck, I gasp. Next, he pulls me to a hug like he never had the chance.
" I love you, I love you." He says, leaving me confused.
"Why is he like this?" I ask myself, but it's a fact that he was with red eyes.
I get away and look at his blue ocean eyes, still red. I raise my hand to his face, he closes his eyes, enjoying the moment.
"I love you too." I say, tearing down. I kiss his cheek, gently.
"I hate to break the moment but a chopper is on its way to get us back, I think it's better if you guys come here." I nod, laughing.
Leon look at my hands, taking them.
"Let's?" I nod.
We got to the chopper safely. Leon helped me walk, he even wanted to carry me but I said it wasn't needy.
I still have to talk to him.
