Pile 1
I don't know why but I'm hearing "cuz you're pretty and smart and you're ignoring  me, you're just my type". But one thing is for sure that you might not notice them when you first encounter them even when they are very attractive. You'll be very ignorant to them. This is not intentional from your side because you're always on your phone or just always have headphones on. They are going to be obsessed with you to the point where all they can think about is you. And you'll definitely enjoy it ( ( ͡°з ͡°) so you find Yanderes cool huh? ) They'll definitely love personality . How kind you are to others and how you're always willing to participate in charity. You don't discriminate against people and treat everyone equally and that my love is flattering. You have a lot of knowledge and a lot of things to talk about. You carry a lot of random facts with yourself and always have information about everything. Like you just KNOW everything. Sexy brain of yours. And your motherly energy . You're very attractive in their eyes just like a fairy/goddess. And they are ready to treat you like one. If you have tanned or dark skin they love it. Your skin color is very hot to themthem for some reason. And I'm also getting hair. They just LOVE your hair.
Some messages that might resonate : artist, paintings, scorpio, herbs, books, number 9 , ocean or any water body, sunrise, Capricorn, black kitten or cat and fire sign.

Pile 2
Your dominance lol that's what they'll love about you. You're very bossy and sassy and they'll love it! Like when you tell them not to or to do something, when you order them. They love it when you get annoyed or angry. You may think that you look very intimidating when you're mad or something but to them you like a kitten. Cute. You try to look intimidating and cunning but in reality you're just a fluffball. I'm getting that you have a funny victory dance or something you do when you're happy and they love it! Also one thing is that you look otherworldly to them. Like you have a very unique and exotic beauty. You look very different from your family. Sjsjsjsj they'll loveeee your chest area it's just so squishy to them sjsjjjsjsjs. They might be from a different country and culture so they'll love it when you'll wear your traditional clothes . Like if you're from korea they'll love it when you'll wear hanbok Or it could be vise versa.
Some things that might resonate : yellow, blue and white colors , Leo, Taurus, Egypt, flower crown, blonde, eagle

Going off of the adopted Slider AU with his Korean mom
(imma call her Umma for now, it is the eng spelling of ‘mom’ in korean or that’s at least how I would spell it),
Here’s some stuff he would run into growing up:
Slider wearing a girl’s hanbok, a hand-me down from Umma’s younger years, on his first new years with his new relatives and it’s too small for him but he secretly likes the colors lol, they’ll fit him for a boys one later
Slider trying to do a “kimchi” squat (where you squat all the way down but you feet are completely flat to the floor, my family calls it the kimchi squat since grandmas prepared kimchi in that position) but never fully pulling off the position since his heels don’t touch the ground like Umma’s when she’s working on the floor
(trauma experience 🤭) Having his first experience of “ew what is that smell” to his lunch :)))))) ended up asking Umma give him mainly prepackaged foods
When Umma had past friends come over to the US to visit her they fussed over Slider so much, lots of cheek pinching in his youth, and conversations about him in korean about how tall he was growing or he needed to eat more and he’s so handsome!!!
Slider going to church but it’s literally all Koreans (real note: this is a thing and it’s so wild to me, because where tf did all these Koreans come from in this area and how did they fill up a whole ass church)
Just for fun: Logan Yale Lee being the son of a relative and Slider in his later years babysitting him for cash and introducing the small kid to planes (lol Logan origin story)
Slider having a fish and someone cooking it. (this has happened to my cousin by her mom’s grandma and her goldfish, it was fucking hilarious)
Slider being bilingual as he hits his later teens and has yearly trips to Korea because Umma’s parents live there
1986 Slider cooking authentic Korean food for the boys 💪💪 Ice has definitely visited before— Umma DEFINITELY would favor him (my mom loved Val Kilmer when she first watched TG86, she found him handsome LMAO)
Some details on Umma: she studied advertising in college, her first job was working on a military site in the business/advertising area (a job my mom did), she’s a first gen (fob moment), her parents helped save money so she could move to America where she settled down on the east coast, she had a strong accent when she first started out so keeping conversation was hard which made it pretty lonely outside of the Korean community, her husband who she met in college died from cancer and she does a lot of community help and started being a foster parent which is where Slider comes in!
(^there is aways a small Korean community in an area and koreans tend to stick together, its pretty cool bc then you get a lot of asian marts and the GOOD korean food, there was a community near my parents house but they all migrated a bit south to the next county which was wild bc hearing that from my parents made it sound like koreans are in like a pack lol)

Feeling Nauti 💦 1

Your best friend's destination wedding is the last place you expect to find the man of your dreams, but then again, the husband-to-be's best friend Seokjin is the last man you expect to sweep you off your feet.

"Get it? Nauti?" A tall, dark-haired man quips. "As in nautical?"
Everyone laughs and shakes their head, and you just groan, rolling your eyes dramatically. Rule number one to telling a joke is that if you have to explain the punchline, it probably isn't that good.
The man leans in, noticing your response and mutters, "It's because we're on a boat."
You widen your eyes sarcastically and say, "Ohhhhh, okay...good one," and walk off, away from the front deck where everyone is congregated and back inside where the bar is. It may be too early to start drinking, but you are on vacation after all, and this is your best friend's wedding, so you reason that you may as well start celebrating now. That, and you have a feeling this is going to be a long fucking weekend.
Growing up, you and your best friend always fantasized about your perfect weddings. The two of you would imagine something small and intimate, close to home and not too over-the-top. You dreamed of handmade flower crowns and having the ring bearers be adorable, well-trained dogs.
So when you found out Jiya and Jeongguk planned a destination wedding that you had to fly halfway around the world for and then take a boat to some lavish remote location on an island, you were shocked. This was definitely a departure from the flower crowns and lowkey ceremonies you had always envisioned.
Despite the wedding being an expensive destination trip, the word intimate definitely would not be used to describe this event, which has a massive turnout, especially from Jiya's side. Which, to be fair, is an expected oversight from your childhood fantasies since you've come to discover that Indian weddings tend to be big events, and Jiya’s family is sparing no expense.
You balked at the idea last year, and when she offered to cover your costs if you promised to be her esteemed best person—a gender-neutral term for maid of honor—you almost laughed in her face. Surely she wouldn't be willing to foot the cost of travel and hotel expenses for something so over the top? But here you are.
Most of the guests on Jiya's side—with the exception of Jiya herself—wear casual Kurta, whereas most of Jeongguk's guests are dressed in modern Hanbok, yourself included. The bride and groom requested the laid back but still somewhat traditional dress code, and you're happy to look at all the various fabrics and designs you see as you make your way through the small crowds dispersed throughout the yacht.
You wear a cream-colored top that wraps around to the left and ties above the waist with embroidered flowers that match the shade of the top, and high-waisted slacks in a dull, burgundy that flare slightly at the hips with a straight, wide-cut leg. Your hair is tied back, off your neck, and you opted just to wear a little mascara to bring out your eyes and forgo makeup, otherwise.
"Hey, lush," your best friend's voice comes from behind you just as you wrap your fingers around the stem of a champagne glass.
Jiya wears a beautiful red and gold modern Hanbok, and her hands and arms are adorned with intricate henna designs. Her long dark hair is tied behind her head, and pretty gold earrings dangle from her ears.
"Excuse you," you respond with a raised eyebrow. "There's orange juice in this champagne. That makes this a breakfast drink."
Jiya raises her eyes incredulously and tongues the inside of her cheek. "I'll have one of those as well, please," she tells the bartender over your shoulder, then returns your gaze with a soft smile.
"I know what you're thinking," she starts, and you cock your head to the side and interrupt.
"With all due respect, Jiya, there is no way you know what I am thinking."
"For starters, you think all of this is ridiculous," she tries, and you concede, glancing around and nodding your head.
The boat you're on is a massive yacht, the likes of which you've only seen in music videos. If Jiya and her fiancé wanted, they could easily have the wedding on this vessel, with plenty of rooms for everyone to stay. Speaking of her fiancé—
Groans and the sounds of bodies crashing into the doorway distract you from your conversation, and you look over Jiya's shoulder to find Jeongguk—the husband to be—in a headlock. Much to your chagrin, the man with Jeongguk's throat wrapped in a vice grip is none other than mister Nauti, himself.
Jeongguk and his friend wear black modern Hanbok with embroidered gold floral designs. Jeongguk's dark brown hair is a bit outgrown and hangs in waves over his forehead. He has a childish wonder about him with a mix of soft, round cheeks and eyes, and sharp lip and jaw lines, making him effortlessly cute and handsome. He's also very sweet and respectful; it's no wonder Jiya took to him so easily.
The other man has a more oval-shaped face, almond eyes, and soft, round features, including very pouty, full lips. You would almost say he's handsome, but your first impression of his sense of humor still hangs over you like a storm cloud, and you push the thought away.
You can't hold in your groan at the way Jeongguk and his friend make their entrance, and you turn away from the so-called adult men as they wrestle into the room. Jiya giggles, shakes her head and mutters, "Boys," and you stick your finger into your mouth and make a gagging sound, pretending to throw up.
"Oh, mimosas!" Jeongguk's tall friend shouts. "If there's champagne, I'll be there in a prosecco."
As you sigh and bring your palm up to your face, Jiya giggles beside you. "Don't encourage him," you mutter under your breath as you attempt to slip away from the bar and find a quiet corner to seclude yourself in, but your best friend grabs you by the arm.
"Not so fast," Jiya teases, forcing you to stay put while the men approach. "You should get to know Seokjin since he's Jeongguk's best person."
"You can't be serious," you mutter, earning you a nudge in your ribs that sends a displeased squeak out of your mouth.
Of course, the loudest, rowdiest man on this boat is Jeongguk's best person. Why couldn't it have been one of the quieter friends you were recently introduced to, like Yoongi or Namjoon? This guy is a handful and a half. Your face must be twisted with disgust as Seokjin approaches, and he eyes you with a smirk.
"What's the matter?" Seokjin asks. "Is the ocean life making you salty?"
At this stage, you just stare at Seokjin and blink. There is absolutely no way this man only speaks in really low-tier dad jokes. Seokjin turns to Jiya and asks, "Do they not speak English?"
This being a mixed tradition wedding between Jiya's Indian family and Jeongguk's Korean family, there seems to be an unspoken agreement for those who can, to speak English. You roll your eyes and feel your blood begin to boil; who does this man think he is? Jiya starts to answer, but you cut in.
"Knowing English doesn't make your jokes funnier. In fact, I wish I didn't understand a word."
While Jeongguk's face seems to fall into something of a worried yet amused expression, Seokjin throws his head back and laughs. There's something so disarming about his unabashed behavior—almost as if he delights in being annoying.
"Can we switch?" you ask Jiya with a playful, pleading expression. "You love Ashley just as much, can't she be your esteemed best person?"
Jiya slaps you on the arm and grumbles, "No!" and you whine and stomp your feet like a petulant child.
"Doth the esteemed best person of the bride require a nap?" Seokjin asks with a grin. "I can escort thee to the sleeping quarters if thou wish."
Feeling absolutely dumbfounded, you slam your mimosa, shake your head to try to rid it not only of whatever the hell Seokjin is going on about but also as a response to the bitterness of the drink, and then you limply wave a hand at him.
"I'm going to sit in a dark corner alone," you announce. "It was...an experience meeting you. See you later."
You turn and smile to Jiya and make your way toward one of the empty passenger rooms to lay down. From behind you, Seokjin calls, "A good experience, I presume!" to which you say, "Nope!" elongating the o, without looking back.
Tumblr media
Once you arrive to your destination, you hang back on the deck and wait for everyone else to exit the yacht. Palm trees line the coast, and a large white and blue resort building looms just ahead. There are comfortable beach chairs along the shoreline, outdoor pools, seaside bars and many more buildings, small and large, in bright, medium woods and decorated with white or blue cloth and upholstery.
Everything appears pristine, if not a bit sterile, and you can't help but feel a bit apprehensive about the whole thing, anticipating spilling a nice bright red daiquiri all over one of those white chairs. It would be Jiya's fault for allowing you to come along to such a nice place, you reason.
"Fellow best person," you hear Seokjin call, holding out his elbow as if expecting you to take it. "Shall we?"
You approach and accept his invitation to be in your personal space, but you do not take Seokjin's arm. Everyone spreads out along the beach as they exit the yacht, and as you walk down the ramp and get closer to land, music from—you presume—one of the outdoor bars greets you with heavy drums and an upbeat rhythm. You do your best to ignore the way Seokjin swishes his hips along with the song.
"How long have you known Jiya?" Seokjin asks, leaning slightly to the side. He's quite tall, and you find yourself tilting your head to respond.
"Since college. She just showed up in my life one day, and we have been inseparable ever since. How about you and Jeongguk?"
Seokjin chuckles brightly to your response, then says, "About a decade. We were both scouted for the same company and have worked together ever since."
"That's right, I hear Jeongguk has a beautiful singing voice," you say, glancing around at your surroundings. Your sandaled feet sink into warm sand, and you adjust to walking on the new terrain. "What were you scouted for?"
Seokjin leans to the side and nudges you gently with his shoulder, causing you to look at him. "My good looks, obviously," he responds with a wink.
You stop in your tracks, squinting and studying his face. From the side, his softer features look sharper, especially his jawline, and the contrast of angles and curves certainly is attractive. Especially his deep brown eyes and those full, pillowy lips...
You bring your hand up to your eyes to block the sun and really get a good look at him. Then you shrug and say, "I don't see it," before continuing on toward the resort.
Tumblr media
The main building of the resort is a lavish hotel with decked-out suites containing every amenity one might need. They appear more like small apartment units than hotel rooms, or so you hear. You, unfortunately, are not staying in the resort with the rest of the friends and family, so you have not seen any of the rooms first-hand.
You are staying behind the resort in a very fancy condo where you not only have so much free space it's stifling just how alone you are, but the only other person sharing that building with you is none other than mister Nauti, himself.
The counters and tables in the unit resemble the mid-2000s era of restaurants and cafes where furniture seemed to be hand-carved out of driftwood for some inexplicable reason. You can't tell if the lopsided, overly polished decor is meant as a statement about recycling and conservation or simply a product of island gentrification. Either way, you're equal parts fascinated and repulsed as you wheel your suitcase through the dining area and into the bedroom to unpack.
Your bedroom is somewhat plain, with a four-poster queen-sized bed and the standard white and light blue bedding you've come to expect. There's a bedside table with a lamp, a dresser, and a wall-mounted television that you anticipate never turning on. The mattress is a decent firmness, and you're delighted to have no fewer than four pillows to wrap your limbs around later.
Outside the front entrance, a wooden deck snakes around to the right in front of your unit to Seokjin's place. If you leave to the left down a short set of steps, you find the resort straight ahead, and behind the little condo is a firepit and small jacuzzi. You cannot, for the life of you, figure out why Jiya thought it would be a good idea to pair you with him rather than literally anyone else from the wedding party and lament probably never stepping foot in the jacuzzi for fear of having to hear some pun related to bubbles.
You do, however, plan to grab a drink from one of the oceanside bars and sit under a nice large umbrella while listening to crashing waves and cawing seagulls, and you unpack your tasteful floral two-piece bathing suit and put it on. With a very soft white beach towel wrapped around your hips, you make your way to the door and slide your sandals on. Then, you open your door and nearly jump out of your skin when you find a tall, shirtless man standing before it.
"Seokjin, what the hell!" you half-shout as you raise a hand to your chest and squeeze your eyes closed in disbelief.
Seokjin stands with one fist raised as if he had just been about to knock, wearing only black swim shorts and holding a fluffy white towel of his own draped over his other arm. Sunglasses push the hair off his forehead, and you do your best not to glance at the exposed skin of his forehead, nor his broad shoulders, and certainly not his toned abdominals. A spot of chipped white paint on the doorframe beside him is suddenly quite fascinating.
"Sorry," Seokjin mutters, "I was coming by to see if you wanted to join me in any number of the water vessels that can be found on the property or perhaps seaside for a drink. I see you have also changed into a bathing suit."
Although having the opportunity to gawk at the half-naked man in front of you at any number of the aforementioned water vessels seems appealing, Seokjin is still someone who you consider annoying, and you don't exactly wish to spend every waking moment by his side. It's bad enough that you will have to sit near him during the wedding celebrations and pose with him in photographs.
"I'm flattered," you mutter, tearing your eyes away from a spot on the doorframe to find an adorably expectant look on Seokjin's face. "But I was going to grab a drink and enjoy a little alone time. I have a feeling things will get hectic and I would like to clear my head for a bit."
Seokjin's expression falls, but he swiftly picks it back up with a smile. "Suit yourself," he mutters. "I hope you have a sand-tastic time."
And with that, you nod your head and close the door in Seokjin's face, then wait for his steps to retreat down the dock steps before you exit your unit.
Tumblr media
You: You couldn't have paired me up with a bridesmaid? Why Seokjin?
Bestie: I figured you two would be together a lot during the events, so it would be a good opportunity to get to know each other!
You: Now, why would I want to get to know Seokjin??? Have you met him before today? The man is annoying.
Bestie: Don't be petulant. Of course I have met him! Seokjin is a very sweet guy! He's just cracking his silly jokes as icebreakers. I think you'd like him quite a bit if you gave him a chance.
You: If I have to hear one more pun, I swear!!!
Bestie: Yeah, yeah. All bark and no bite. You're just mad that Seokjin is so your type that even an anti-romantic grump like you may actually like him deep down.
You: Excuse you??? My type??? I may actually like him???
Bestie:  I haven't seen you this flustered in years.
You: Flustered????????????
Bestie: Admit it...you can't wait to *sea* him later...
You: I'm blocking you. Goodbye forever. Good luck with your wedding!
Bestie: <3
You set your phone onto the table beside your cozy seaside chair with a huff and then bring the last of your daiquiri to your lips, sucking in mostly air in an obnoxious gurgling sound of straw against moist glass. You sigh and dread having to stand up and walk back to the bar, but swing your legs over the side of the chair, grab your phone and empty glass, and make your way over.
Though the bar isn't too far from where you sat, the music that plays from small overhead speakers only becomes apparent as you approach. You find yourself so distracted by your thoughts of what the rest of the extended weekend may look like that you don't notice a familiar face leaning against the bar top.
"Whale, whale, whale," Seokjin pipes up, pulling you from your thoughts. You jump slightly, glare at him for startling you twice in one hour, and roll your eyes.
"Does that really work for you?" you tease.
"What's that?" Seokjin responds, leaning with his elbow on the bar and his cheek against his fist. The curve of his torso accentuates his lithe but toned figure, and you do your best to hold your gaze on his face only.
"The puns," you respond sharply.
Seokjin grins. "Don't you think they make me sound so-fish-ticated?"
"No."
Seokjin eyes your figure up and down, making you feel acutely aware that you left your towel behind. Then he stands up straight and takes a step closer. "They don't have your seal of approval?"
"Absolutely not."
With one more step, Seokjin towers over you. There's mirth and something indiscernible pooling in his dark eyes, and you hold your ground, doing your best to appear unaffected by him being this close, but butterflies in your stomach swarm and swoop and make you extremely anxious.
"What's the matter with telling jokes?" Seokjin asks, voice much deeper than before. "Afraid to come out of your shell and live a little?"
You didn't feel so intoxicated moments ago, but now you're lightheaded and unable to stand your ground, with heat rising from your chest to your cheeks. Your lips fumble around air, trying to speak before your brain can catch up with anything but a weak, "I—"
Seokjin's voice drops even deeper as he says, "Come on, sweetheart. I bet you'd be reel fun if you opened up a little."
You feel frozen in your spot, suddenly only able to comprehend the loud whooshing of the ocean and your own heartbeat. Seokjin winks and backs away, saying, "You know where to find me, should you change your mind," leaving you to stand in shock as you attempt to get your bearings again.
Tumblr media
Two can play this game. If Seokjin wants to eye you up and call you sweetheart with that patronizing tone of his, then you're going to give him a run for his money. As you get ready for the wedding party dinner that's scheduled to take place inside the resort, you put on a satin black modern Hanbok top that accentuates your curves nicely, paired with short black shorts that bring out the shapes of your legs in a manner you find more than agreeable.
Dressing up fancy is something you are not overly fond of, and performing femininity gets exhausting at times, but you want Seokjin to look at you—you want to dangle yourself in front of him like a pretty piece of bait only to retract yourself at the last moment.
With a deep sigh, you fight with your brain against imagining him as a fish and you as a lure, refusing to let all his stupid puns get to you and focus on the shiny lip gloss you apply. This stuff only comes out on special occasions.
You're surprised to find the walk to the resort lonely and wonder if Seokjin is a fashionably early or fashionably late kind of guy. Although it's close to the time requested to meet up, you expect to grab a drink at the bar and chat with more of the wedding party.
However, when you arrive, Seokjin is already at the bar, talking with one of the bridesmaids. His arm is stretched over the edge of the counter, and he's leaning in very close as he says something that causes her to laugh. There's a pang of something that hits your guts, and you swallow the lump in your throat as you move past your original destination and find Jiya and Jeongguk already seated at the large table with two other members of the bridal party.
Obviously, you're not jealous; that would be foolish. You are simply annoyed with Seokjin for apparently being such an unabashed slut and using you for his own entertainment. Again, two can play this game.
Hoseok walks in just in the nick of time, right as you're taking your seat in front of your best friend, and you stand and say, "Hoseok!" sweetly elongating the vowels as you stretch your arms for a hug. Hoseok gladly accepts and pulls you in, groaning as he hugs you tight.
"I was hoping you'd be happy to see me again," Hoseok mutters in your ear, and you bite your bottom lip, remembering the last time you saw Hoseok, tangled in his pale yellow sheets covered in a sheen of sweat.
"Of course," you respond, pulling from the hug. You eye Hoseok up and down with a grin, taking in his sharp, pretty features and willowy yet muscular frame that's hugged nice and tight by his deep blue satin modern Hanbok top and tight black jeans. His hair is wavy and overgrown, perfect for tugging on, and you smile as your eyes drift down to his heart-shaped lips. "Who wouldn't be happy to see you?"
Hoseok and you have a history. Not an extensive history, but history enough. Jiya introduced the two of you after you got out of a somewhat turbulent relationship, and while you weren't—and still aren't—interested in jumping into anything serious, you didn't hesitate to jump into Hoseok's bed. He doesn't seem to mind being a rebound, and you continue to flirt whenever your paths cross. And, often, your crossing paths tend to converge into one that leads straight to one of your bedrooms.
It had occurred to you that perhaps you would have another tryst with Hoseok on this trip, but Jiya recently mentioned he might be dating someone, so you've been trying not to let yourself get too excited to see him. You're thankful, at least, for such a warm, welcoming hug, even if his flirty nature is just a tease.
Rather than settle back in, you take your time really gassing Hoseok up. The rest of the party is beginning to join you, and as you rub his arm slowly and tell him how handsome he looks, you catch a certain someone approaching from the bar in the periphery. You're in the middle of asking Hoseok what he's been up to when Jeongguk tells Seokjin to sit across from him, which is the seat right next to yours.
Hoseok also sits beside you, and as you take your seat between both men, your heart begins to race. Heat rises to your cheeks, and you hope that nobody can discern the kind of state you're in as you try to decide just what the fuck to do.
"I would like to raise a toast," Jiya says, standing with her glass of wine. Everyone grabs their glass of wine or cocktail, if they've ordered one, and lifts it to join the toast. You notice Seokjin has his body angled toward you as he holds his right arm up, and you feel yourself shift toward the left, as if to create more space between the two of you.
"I know this is a lot, and we haven't had much time to settle in and get your bearings, but Jeongguk and I really appreciate having you all here. Drink and eat to your heart's content, and tomorrow let the festivities begin!"
Everyone cheers and drinks to Jiya and Jeongguk, and you pull your white wine to your lips for a sip, letting the cold, bitter drink settle in and fill you with a hint of warmth. One of the guys in Jeongguk's party steals Hoseok's attention, so you stare at your wine glass, hoping that either food will arrive soon, or the wine glass will spontaneously explode and a nice big shard will mercifully kill you.
From your right, a deep voice says, "I hope these drinks can tide us over until dinner arrives," and you sigh, take a gulp of your wine, grit your teeth and shift in your seat, turning at an angle toward Seokjin.
"Why?" You snap, watching Seokjin with widened, annoyed eyes.
"Why, wh—"
"Why can't you just...be normal? Why do you have to make jokes all the time? I don't enjoy it; are you doing it to annoy me?"
Seokjin's expression falls, and he looks away from you at the table before him, eyes surveying the scenery as if he's searching for something. You feel guilty for snapping at him and take a deep breath.
"Seokjin, look, I'm sorry, I—"
"No, no," Seokjin responds, waving a hand as if to dismiss your apology. He looks downcast, like he's just been rejected. You can't quite put your finger on the emotions that swirl around inside you, but you don't like the shift in tone between the two of you, and you begin to worry you may have actually hurt the man who you're supposed to spend the most time with on this trip.
Then Seokjin turns to you with a devious smirk, sending a chill through you. "I'm sorry if my jokes of-fin-ded you."
Your jaw sets, eyes narrow, and your blood begins to boil. Just who the hell does this man think he is? You open your mouth, ready to give Seokjin a piece of your mind, when he leans in close—too close and mutters, "You are just...absolutely stunning when you are angry. I almost feel bad for riling you up so much, but...gosh, you just make it so easy."
Shock settles over you like a heavy blanket, and all you can do is stare at Seokjin, feeling absolutely dumbfounded. Your heart pounds, dizzying you, and as much as you want to find something quippy to say in response, your brain and mouth have pumped the brakes.
Seokjin hums, still leaning in your personal space. "Stunned into silence is a good look, too, quite honestly."
All you can do is blink and gawk at Seokjin as your mind buffers. Thankfully a server comes by and sets plates of food in front of you and the rest of the party, pulling you from your thoughts. There's a mix of Indian and Korean food spread out over the table, with beautiful entrees and more side dishes than you can fully comprehend, filling the air with a spicy, savory aroma.
Everything looks expertly prepared, but even as your mouth waters, all you can focus on is Seokjin's words, and you're not sure how you feel.

Title: Beating Heart Baby
Author: Lio Min
Genre: YA Fiction | Romance | Friendship | Music | LGBTQ+
Content Warnings: Transphobia | Homophobia | Mentioned Abuse
Overall Rating: 9.9/10
Personal Opinion: There is so much to love in this book. The diverse cast, the chosen families, and the sweet romance of reconnecting with someone you had once lost. If you don’t fall in love with this book then there’s something wrong with you. Although it can be hard to keep up with and differentiate the friends at times because there are so many of them. But overall, I really enjoyed this book.
Do I Own This Book? No.
Spoilers Below For My Likes & Dislikes:
Likes:
- Diversity win! Pretty much the entire cast is in some way a person of color, queer, or both. We have Black kids, brown kids, Asian kids, trans kids, gay kids, non-binary kids, and so many more. But best of all, they are all thriving. We have Cola Carter, a Black lesbian who is a top star and creating new stars that are queer and POC like her. Aya is Latina and queer too and she gets to live her dream making music and even inheriting Cap’s legacy of leading the Sunshowers. Suwa and Santi are both gay Asians and they are in love. Suwa is a rising star making music that matters to him and Santi is just living his best life painting and teaching art to kids. Everyone is thriving and I love that for them.
- Found/chosen family is just so important in this story. Santi and Aya are not blood related but they care about each other very deeply. Aya is so cool too, giving Santi enough freedom to explore while also being heavy-handed enough to discipline him when he needs it. Suwa, on the other hand, lives with Cap, who took him in when home became unsafe for Suwa. He even refers to Cap as “Dad” sometimes and that is so cute to me. Cap is honestly the best, he really cares for all his students and wants the best for them. Even after retiring, he still wants to give students a love of music. I love that.
- But we also have so many friends! Every single one of them are so kindhearted and cool. Mira, Octavian, Ari, Reva, Feli, and I’m likely forgetting someone but they’re all good people. They care for Santi and Suwa and the way they plot to get them together was hilarious. But I just love how easily they accept Santi into their group and how easy it is for them to forgive Suwa for leaving them for a year and a half. They’re ride-or-dies, really good friends.
- The scene where Suwa goes (to his dad’s) home after that interview just makes me tear up. Especially when he went into his old room to get the hanbok his dad gave him. It was just so precious to see his relationship with his dad mending. Even though it’s far from perfect and his dad was abusive in the past, I love seeing them both grow.
- Mira was absolutely right, Santi is a hunk. He’s clearly athletic and he’s covered in tattoos so that already makes him physically hot. But then he’s also an artist and a chef! A perfect package! Not but seriously, when Suwa messed up in the kitchen and Santi jumped in to help him, I felt my heart grow three sizes. The love was still there! The care was still there! The domestic tenderness was still there!
- Suwa being Memo was not at all surprising but it was also enough of a twist to really have an impact. By which, I mean, I was also rationalizing to myself like “No, it can’t be.” But when it was confirmed, I was like, “I fucking knew it!” It’s good, like a loose end being fixed.
- I also love all the references in this book. Mainly the Agumon bobblehead. Digimon is one of my favorite animes so of course I was going to love that. But also, Mugen Glider. The way they describe it in so much detail made it sound like an early, Showa-era Ghibli-esque show. I genuinely thought it was real! But it’s not! But it sounded so real and that’s what I like about it. I just wish I could watch it.
Dislikes:
- One thing I don’t like? Suwa abandoning his life in LA for Japan for a year and a half after dumping Santi. Bruh. I just, it was so bad. Suwa was acting so toxic too when he came back, reeling Santi in while also keeping him at arm’s length like Santi was the poisonous one. But at least Suwa apologized for his behavior. Because otherwise, I would not have wanted them to stay together. And I hope he does get serious about therapy again like he said he would.

((whats shea like fashion sense wise?? what pla clothes does she wear?? does she stick with the same outfit or switch it up sometimes??))
Tumblr media
HELLO ! && thank you for this ask i love asks esp when i get to ramble about my dummy child. so i have already put some thought into a lot of this before but i ain’t gonna link all that bc now i can have it all in one space. also catch all every image + art in the following is mine etc etc. throwing this under a read more for big images !
so i wanna start with the PLA era clothes. she does wear a galactic team uniform that is altered based off the shaymin themed dlc top seen here. the flora pattern, the belt + pouch, & the color scheme are very similar. however shea does wear the survey corps standard as well as summer & winter variants.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i do try my best to keep as much from the game as possible as i really want shea to blend into canon better & also this shit all slaps. anyway as i said her standard uniform is based more off that shaymin dlc but modified.
Tumblr media
here is a concept wip i have where you can see the modification. the dlc outfit does have shorts that outside of cutscenes when i first played, i did not have wear. normally she wears pants. shea likes her legs covered in some fashion. the pants are a dark green & that lime green from the dlc outfit is switched to that darker green instead. the top is modified to be more stylized into a hanbok while keeping the other aspects. she also wears a sleeveless turtle neck underneath though that’s not shown here. the floral gracidea pattern is very prominent. something to note is that when shea woke up in hisui--- she was already wearing this outfit. she did not have modern clothes as she’s not from a modern era, so it’s to be assumed that arceus modeled this outfit to be similar to the survey corps uniform at base already. shea prefers function over all else.
her survey corps uniforms tend to be light weight, but durable. thick but not so much it would be difficult to move around in. while she does have a few various pairs, most have been repeatedly patched & repaired. the original outfit she woke up in has been duplicated as the uniform itself has been pretty threadbare for hundreds of years, though she keeps & still holds onto all of these uniforms in the flower paradise. usually if she is out on an adventure she tends to pack a uniform with her. usually one that’s best for colder temperatures like the thick winter one & one better for warmer temperatures.
when it comes to outfits outside of the uniform she tends to dress in very casual clothing that tend to also be somewhat hanbok inspired.
Tumblr media
this is my lil reference w/ her faceclaim + the type of hanbok that i mean. it’s a very modern styling that has a more sleek silhouette. her faceclaim is wearing a much more traditional style that shea would adapt during the hisui period all things considering, while on the left the model would represent what shea wears in more modern day settings. below is a unfinished wip, again, that showcases this more modern day setting.
Tumblr media
however shea doesn’t just wear traditional dressings in modern day. while at the flower paradise she does tend to wear what’s more comfortable to her like these hisui-era clothing, she does have a fairly extensive wardrobe for modern adventures. she favors the very modern trends of outwear & athletic wear as fashion choices. often donning cropped sweaters & hoodies + high waist shorts with leggings & comfortable, but durable, shoes like sneakers or boots. shea tends to wear things that create a silhouette in some ways. big hoodies or cropped to give a bit of bigger shape with more slender pants or such. her color palettes stay in the general pastel range & don’t move towards darker jewel tones. lighter color schemes are a hint toward a youthful nature, with darker hues that hints to maturity & while shea depending on what time period may be mature & older the keep to the pastels & soft tones help mask her to still seem like a normal 15year old.
Tumblr media
but yeah that’s the general run down ! i hope this answers ur question thank u so much i love asks 8)

canvas, informal, roots for Dai, Minah, Bran and Eniko (sorry i couldnt pick i love them all)
i love you!!!! // oc asks: character design edition
canvas: Does your OC have any scars, piercings, tattoos, or other markings? Do they display or cover them up at all?
DAI — his most noticeable scar starts around his temple and curves back around the crown of his head from when an underwater cave collapsed on him and he died. he also has one right under his sternum where zaref ran him through with a greatsword and another one on his left side under his ribs from when he got voidstabbed coming back to Selto. a few more smaller ones from training and whatnot. he doesn't have any tattoos. he also has darker skin coloring on his hands and up his forearms from his earth genasi heritage. he doesn't make any particular effort to cover up his scars or other markings; he's not that self-conscious
MINAH — she has multiple ear piercings and a few scars from Life On The Road. she has one small but obvious one above one eye and she wears her bangs long on that side to hide it
BRAN — a handful of scars from her various travels and adventures. multiple ear piercings. freckles! and a bunch of tattoos, including one that's like an ocean in a bottle and has actual moving, crashing waves (it's over her sternum and matches her heartbeat; the ocean gets choppier when she's having an anxiety episode). she has absolutely no problem with showing a little skin, markings and all
ENIKO — his back is covered in scars, and he has ear and eyebrow piercings, but besides that he's pretty blank. he doesn't take his shirt off if he can help it and could count on one hand the number of (living) people who know about his back
informal: What's your OC's lazy-day look? How do they like to dress when they're winding down?
DAI — he dresses down to the underlayer of his robes, so a wrap-style shirt and pants pretty much. if he were really dressed down the shirt would be untied too, but he saves that for when he's alone (or with zaref). if he's going out there's at least one additional layer, but nothing too fancy.
MINAH — just her shirt and leggings. maybe the skirt too if the weather is a little chilly or gross, but she'll forego her usual vest and sashes and the rest.
BRAN — a loose shirt and breeches. usually barefoot and her hair either down all the way or tied completely back. she doesn't bother with the hat
ENIKO — eniko's lazy day look is exactly like his everyday look except he doesn't bother with the vest. can't do crime if you ain't dressed to the nines (eights?)
roots: Is your OC's look inspired by any specific style of clothing or fashion trend? What are the roots and/or inspiration for their look?
DAI — daichi's look is inspired by wrap-style clothing, specifically korean hanbok. this unfortunately clashes horribly with Airedon's gilded French renaissance vibe, so I think the cuts of his original uniform are reminiscent of French court fashion—knee-length, tails longer in the back, long and narrow split skirt panels. there's very little metal in his ensemble besides his armor—the robe layers are adjusted with ties and sashes. more metal would have been added to his uniform as he moved up the ranks, but I don't think he'd want it at this point—he's moved away from renaissance influences the longer they've traveled and the more he's distanced himself from Airedon's limiting rules and permissions. now he's probably a horrible mishmash of styles. I'm having a terrible time trying to redesign his armor
MINAH — her vibe is loosely inspired by Station Eleven, so it's a lot of layers and repurposed fabric and clothing. her base outfit is a loose blouse tucked into a pair of leggings, a wrap skirt tied on top, and a vest. she has shorter and longer skirts for different seasons and different weather, and definitely has a number of belts. I think the skirts she wears to perform are made of multiple panels of fabric so they move better when she dances
BRAN — she has an age of sail look going on. also a lot of gold jewelry inspired by rivia (you can take the girl out of the city of gold etc etc) but mostly it's a pirates of the caribbean thing
ENIKO — eniko's look is inspired by late Victorian working class fashion, ish. button-up shirts and vests and jackets and pants made of fabrics that can survive a lot of wear and tear. but eniko likes to dress for the job he wants (having money) rather than the job he has (having no money) so the cuts mimic higher classes, and he takes exactingly good care of his gear. you can only tell how worn and secondhand it is when you get up close, and if you're getting up close to eniko there's probably about to be a knife in you somewhere that you did not want a knife.

crystal in korea part two: seoul
Following several fun days in Busan, my friends and I headed next for Seoul, South Korea's capital and biggest city.
After arriving by train, my friends and I went in search of lunch and found a place that serves bibimbap, a rice bowl topped with meat and vegetables. It was so delicious. Bibimbap is one of my favorite Korean foods and is available in many countries, so I highly reccommend trying it!
Tumblr media
Next, we headed to a shopping district and I went to a small studio space to get a tattoo. Similar to Japan, tattooing in Korea is actually technically illegal, and most businesses operate "underground." Nevertheless, many younger Koreans have tattoos, and many people travel to country to receive tattoos there. There are many talented artists in Korea with distinct styles. I was tattooed by the artist Jalopy, whose Instagram can be found here. She specializes in stick and poke tattoos, and she can speak English really well. I got a tattoo of an umbrella to represent a poem written by my friend Al, who passed away several years ago. I'm grateful to Jalopy for doing such a great job, and I cherish this new addition to my body.
Tumblr media
In the evening, a couple friends and I split off to the group to visit a large riverside park with a view of the cityscape. The park was filled with various stalls. Many of them sold food, but many also rented out blankets, mats, lights, and small tables to use for picnics. I've never seen anything like this in the US or Japan, and I thought it was such a great idea. Many people come to the park to picnic and enjoy the view, and it was a relaxing and fun way to spend the evening.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next morning, we headed to Changdeokgung Palace, a huge palace grounds with traditional buildings and gardens. Nearby were many shops where you could don a hanbok, a traditional Korean dress, so a few of my friends did that and the dresses were so beautiful and elaborately decorated. It was a very popular attraction, so many girls wandered the palace grounds in traditional wear, and it really made the experience feel more authentic.
Tumblr media
We walked around the palace grounds looking at the various buildings. Like the temples I had seen in Korea so far, the buildings were in a Chinese style, but painted with beautifully vibrant colors and designs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next we walked to a nearby street lined with traditional old Korean homes called the Bukchon Hanbok Village. It was a bit of a steep hike up to it, and you could only really see the front gates, but the little neighborhood was still charming and lovely.
Tumblr media
After that, we walked to another palace nearby called the Gyeongbokgung Palace. Since we had spent so much time at the other palace already, we decided to just look around the entrance at the gate and not pay the entrance fee to go in. But the entrance gates were huge and magnificent.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next we headed to a small neighborhood known for its street art murals. I don't know how the murals came to be there, but there were so many of them and they were so beautiful.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We continued a bit further up the hill to Naksan Park to enjoy a beautiful view of the city over an old stone wall.
Tumblr media
After this we were pretty hungry, so we found a restaurant where we could eat kimchi pancakes and rolled omelets filled with cheese, which were so delicious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With that, we ended the day (actually just I did, everyone else wanted to go out drinking lol.)
The next morning I got up bright and early and left my friends to their alcolhol-induced slumbers to head to Bukhansan mountain for a hike. I'm so glad that Seoul has such a huge and flourishing green mountain so close to the city, since I'm not much of one for city travelling and was itching to get out into nature.
Tumblr media
I think it was about 3 km up to the peak that I hiked to. I had originally planned to hike to a different peak, but since I'm not familiar with Korea's systems or the Korean language, I ended up taking a different trail than I originally planned.
The trail I ended up on was of course very beautiful nonetheless. For about the first kilometer, the trail was lined with colorful lanterns which led up to a shrine on the mountain. On the way up I passed a smaller shrine with no one around but a pudgy Buddha statue, whose belly I rubbed for luck and continued on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A bit further up the mountain I started to hear the sounds of chanting drifting through the trees. It was really ethereal. I kept walking up the trail towards the sound and found myself at a shrine. The shrine was of course colorfully painted and I paid my respects and used their bathroom (a squat toilet and port-a-potty all in one, which was...unpleasant but nonetheless appreciated.) When I was walking through the woods, I had expected to come across a group of people chanting, but was surprised to find that nobody was around the the chanting was either prerecorded or being broadcast from a single monk through a microphone.
Tumblr media
I continued on up the mountain. Eventually I came across a third shrine. This one was brilliantly and beautifully colored in shades of blue, and there was an unfriendly dog guarding the shrine that growled at me when I came near. There was a lookout spot from the shrine where you could look out and see the cityscape. It was really beautiful, and there was a refreshing breeze.
Tumblr media
Leaving that shrine, I followed more trailhead signs until I came to a big ancient-looking gate. According to a sign nearby, there were about six gates surrounding the fortress of Bukhansan. At this point the trail continued past the gate heading downwards, but I had hiked over 3km up and had to meet with my friends again later, so I decided this was to be the peak of my hike. I climbed up to the top of the gate where there was a brilliant view of the city and took a rest, eating some gimbap that I brought with me from the convenience store. Here's me covered in sweat and hiking grime celebrating my successful hike:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After this, I retraced my steps back down the mountain to the park entrance. This hike was one of the highlights of my whole trip, and I really felt refreshed after despite the distance that I walked.
After my hike, I hopped on a bus back to the city center and met up with my friends at a shopping mall called Common Ground made out of big blue shipping containers, which was pretty cool.
Tumblr media
As the day wound down, I stopped at a grocery store to grab some souvenirs for friends and coworkers back in Japan and my friend introduced my to corn ice cream which was...interesting. I didn't hate it.
Tumblr media
With that my last full day in Seoul came to a close.
The next morning before heading to the airport I made a short stop at the Korean National Museum on my own, eager to learn more about Korea's history and culture, since I honestly didn't know a lot.
Tumblr media
The building was huge and magnificent, filled with countless priceless artifacts. And yet somehow the museum entry was free! I was so impressed and thankful to Korea for letting people have access to that knowledge for free. The most notable parts of the museum that I learned was that the traditional art of Korea seemed to have the same color schemes as the temples, with vibrant reds, greens, and blues. I also learned about their history of making celadon pottery, which was a beautiful light blue/green color. I wanted to get a celadon souvenir like a teacup or jewelry, but found that everything in the museum gift shop was pretty expensive. Still, I'm grateful to visit for free and be able to learn everything that I did.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the museum, I headed to the Seoul airport and caught my flight back to Japan. I experienced and learned a lot of cool things in Korea, and I would love to go back again someday! Also the food there is seriously amazing. 100/10 please try.
Anyway, this concludes my posts about my Korea trip. Thanks as always for reading <3

19 Mar 2023
On my birthday, I went to Gyeongbokgung Palace and rented a Hanbok (via GigiBebe) for the full experience. It has always been my plan to wear a RED one bec in PHL traditions, a birthday celebrant would always wear red. I fell in love with it and to be honest, it's quite comfortable. Felt pretty walking around and there are others wearing the same. We are so colorful. Pretty pleasing in the eyes.
Took photos as much as I can but these are the only ones that made it. I was late to buy a tripod. I used it on my 4th day in Korea and I only have 5 days to spend. LOL.
The mask is mine and not a rental, FYI.

Namseok potatoe #31
Tumblr media
Another night of horror.
🔞graphic depiction of violence below
Kim Namjoon is one of the guards in charge of the district, and this is now the second mutilated corpse they are called for. He tries to keep his calm, not wanting to link to fast to that serial killer the whole country is afraid of. But they usually are in the big cities, so what are they doing here, in the countryside?
The crime is pretty similar to the first one though, and he can’t help but shiver. Both victims  are young men with their torso ripped and their heart missing. The last time they were seen was at that gisaeng house. Too much similarity to be accidentally, right?
Everyone is now afraid and the inhabitants have difficulties to live normally, even though their governor encourages them to do so. He decides to take his disposition and re-enforce the security in the little town, and Namjoon is affected in the gisaeng district.
From where he is located, he can have a glimpse of the inner courtyard of the prestigious Nabi house. And can witness the training of the young ladies. One of them drew his attention by the powerful but still so beautiful movements, each of them performed exquisitely. What piques his curiosity more is the hair color of the delicate dancer. Indeed, instead of black silk hair, there you have long white one, white as the color of snow. And the smile? A beautiful heart-shaped smile every time the dancer is satisfied with one of her moves.
The guard is lucky enough to be able to witness one day one of the free representations proposed by the house, in their attempt to get more customers. They have opened their doors to everyone, not just to their usual elite members.
The young women, all so beautiful in their gorgeous garments, are showing their delicate skills. They are singing, playing music, and having some conversations with those who are willing to talk with them. Namjoon appreciates his time, but he is eager to meet the one that has been haunting his thoughts since the first day he saw her.
And then, the room is going dark and they just keep a few candles to maintain some visibility for the waitresses. The young guard can feel the chill on his skin right before he can *see* her.
The beautiful gisaeng with white hair.
What’s her name?
Someone murmurs in awe behind the young guard “It’s the Silver Fox! The most precious jewel of the Nabi house!” with the ohhh and ahhh of the other admirers.
The ethereal appearance is now in the middle of the room, the big and white fan hiding her face. She is wearing a light blue hanbok that is molding her fragile frame. She would perfectly fit in Namjoon’s embrace, he knows it. She is observing the room when her gaze stops at him, and their eyes lock. She starts to move, the only instrument accompanying her is a Samulnori, a little drum. Her dance is hypnotic and sensual, everyone is definitely in awe. The guard's smile goes wider every time he recognizes some gestures she has repeated so often in that inner courtyard. And she just meets his eyes and smiles in return. With that pretty heart shaped smile he adores so much. Just like they were sharing an intimate secret.
Once the piece is over, the beautiful dancer is quickly surrounded by the men who want to have a word with her. What’s her name? Her age? Would she agree to have some private time with them? and so on and so on. Namjoon hates it of course, but he can’t do anything right? Until the owner of the house appears and shoos all these courtiers because “she is not available, she’s just here for dancing, so please, just ask this beautiful young lady behind you, she will be delighted to spend more time with you Sir.”
The beautiful dancer then bows to take her leave, and her eyes lock one last time with Namjoon’s, smiling to him before disappearing behind the flowery screen hiding the private part of the house.
Few days later, Namjoon is taken in the middle of a fight which turns pretty badly. Daggers and blood are part of it, and he is left on the ground, feeling the pains engulfing him into darkness.
Then he hears a soft gasp and hushed “no no no” before feeling soft lips claiming his, something warm going from his throat to his chest. First warm, before becoming scorching hot, and then, nothing.
Opening his eyes with difficulties, he recognizes this beautiful white hair, and the concerned gaze of the beauty next door. “You…” he tries to articulate.
“Shh- You’ll feel better soon… Just live…” is murmured next to his ears.
And then, darkness once again.

Mai in hanbok🗡
Mai’s hanbok is a jangsam. (Yes it sounds the same as Aang’s monk robes but the word has multiple meanings) This type of clothing is similar to Azula’s soui because this was also worn by noblewomen during early Joseon as ceremonial clothes, and was sometimes also used at weddings. Mai’s has a hyoongbae(square or circle-shaped decoration on the chest. Zuko has a round one in my other drawing)’ which only the queen or princess could wear with their jangsam. I mean she’s already one of the highest-ranking people in the Fire Nation and partner of Zuko who is a prince/firelord so it pretty much fits.
Masterpost
[ID: A digital drawing of Mai in hanbok. She is in a dark red jangsam decorated with gold colored fire nation emblems. She also has a belt and hyoongbae with gold embroidery decorations. She is holding two knives in each hand, and is looking to the left. The background is grayish brown with a stylized picture of Mai’s knife in reddish brown. End ID.]

member: juyeon genre: angst (royal au) word count: 4,635 synopsis: despite being the first born and the kingdom’s princess, you lived your whole life in the shadow of the crown prince born to a concubine. in your plot for revenge, a fool in love comes along your path. warning(s): violence
kingdom masterlist
Princess Y/n. You were the first born of the king and queen, educated beyond societal standards for girls, and incredibly beautiful. Yet, you were disregarded and looked down on since the moment you were born. Your brother, who was born to a concubine, was the crown prince and received much greater respect. The reason? You were a girl. A good-for-nothing girl as your father called you on multiple occasions.
The king was ashamed to have his first born be a daughter. He also felt threatened by your rejection of the status quo. Because of this, he grabbed every opportunity to make you submit to him.
You were exceptionally smart but no one cared to notice. Your desire to learn was ignored and you were forced to embroider butterfly patterns instead. At a young age, you realized your place. You knew your designated fate was to be a political pawn meant to be married off at a beautiful age. To protect the royal family that never considered you as one of their own, you were to marry a complete stranger one day.
However, just because you realized your place didn’t mean you accepted it. You defied the rules at every chance you saw. You remained a headache for the king, but a small enough headache to avoid his wrath.
Unbeknownst to him, you were well versed with the dirty politics of the country. Ever since you were a little girl, you would eavesdrop into the ministers’ conversations and manipulate the eunuchs to take a peak at written grievances sent to the king. You knew about the starving peasants he ignored and the bribes he received. As you grew older, you became hungry for power. When it became apparent that the king was blocking any hope for you, you were determined to take as many people down with you. You refused to suffer alone.
The king always berated you for being greedy. Greedy for education. Greedy for acknowledgement. Greedy for a life that was more than just being a good wife. He reminded you again and again that you would never have a voice in official affairs.
Every time you left his chamber after another lecture, you made sure to humiliate the embarrassment the kingdom called the crown prince. You would outshine him one way or another. Whether it be pointing out his grammar mistakes in front of the scholars or exposing his secret palace escapes to the queen, you would dampen his mood for the day. It was the only thing that gave you a speck of joy.
There was also only one thing that gave you something to look forward to. For years, you had been conspiring against the royal family. You despised the royal family and its classist, sexist, and pretentious values. You planned on getting rid of it once and for all. The kingdom deserved a leader that would rule benevolently. Slowly but surely, you gained the loyalty of several ministers. Soon enough, you would be able to execute the meticulous coup d'état.
But until then, you had to continue to be nothing but the king’s puppet. Which included meeting your fiancé. You were introduced a week ago and wedding preparations were already in full swing.
The man you would be forced to wed, Lee Juyeon, was the first son of the Chief State Councillor. You didn’t like him the moment you saw him. He was a pretty face that grew up with his father’s full love and support. He was both elegant and masculine; he was the definition of perfect and you hated it. A person had to have flaws to be likeable.
For some crazy reason you couldn’t wrap your mind around, Juyeon was infatuated with you. He visited the palace every day just to have you decline his request for a meeting. He was persistent.
Unfortunately for you, he was also crafty. He figured out that announcing his arrival to the king was an effective way to see your face. The king was delighted to see the Chief State Councillor’s son head over heels for his daughter and thus, to your annoyance, daily meetings were arranged for you two.
“Tell me, Lord Lee, what about me is worthy of your obsession?” you asked.
You were sitting at one of the gardens within the palace walls. He had insisted on the location because of its romantic beauty.
“Then tell me, Your Highness, what about me is not to your liking?” he grinned.
“Do you wish to hear the answer of the princess or the answer of Y/n?” you raised a brow, making him laugh.
“You amuse me, Princess Y/n,” he turned his head to look at the pond.
You sighed, wondering how long you had until you could return to your residence. The man next to you was oblivious to your feelings as he rambled on about the dates he wanted to take you on. He caught your attention when he mentioned sneaking you out of the palace for half a day.
“You would really risk taking me outside of the palace?” you perked up.
He was excited to see you finally engaged in the conversation and nodded profusely. He promised to set up an elaborate plan for a smooth date. Grudgingly, you accepted his offer. Your wish to see the village overwhelmed your wish to avoid your soon-to-be consort.
The next day, a court lady secretly found you to notify you of his plans. To evade the eyes of palace maids, you were to escape through a path not commonly used. She helped you scale the wall and you froze when you saw Juyeon on the other side. You sat on top of the wall and he extended his hand for support. With a tight smile, you held his hand and jumped down.
He pulled the veil over your face to keep your identity hidden, blushing when his hand slightly brushed your cheek. He hopped onto the horse and gestured for you to do the same. Hesitantly, you held his hand again to climb on.
Using the excuse of maintaining balance, he urged you to hold on tightly. You weren’t left with an option when he sped up, prompting you to instinctively hug his waist. You didn’t have to see his face to know that he was smiling like a fool.
At last, you finally arrived at the village. Fascinated at the change in environment, you looked like a child surrounded by toys. Chuckling, Juyeon admired the view in front of him. In his eyes, you were prettier than any flower and sweeter than any candy. Feeling his gaze on you, you cleared your throat and began walking.
There was so much to look at. He caught you staring at the rows of yeot and purchased the confectionery without you asking. You immediately popped one into your mouth and he laughed when your cheeks expanded to resemble a squirrel.
“Are you teasing me?” you frowned.
“No, I am appreciating your adorable and lovely appearance,” he answered as he handed you the bag holding the rest of the yeot. His words didn’t fluster you. You simply rolled your eyes and resumed walking.
His long legs were quick to catch up with you. Enjoying your presence, he watched as you fawned over little trinkets. It was a new side of you that he had never seen.
Stopping at an accessory shop, you scanned the norigaes displayed on the table. One of them caught your eye and you held it up for a closer look. It was a beautiful pale pink color that perfectly matched your current hanbok.
“It seems a norigae is better at capturing your heart than I am,” Juyeon pouted.
“Perhaps it is prettier than you,” you shrugged.
“Is this an implication that I am pretty? To a certain extent?” he beamed.
“How do my words become that?” you exclaimed.
With another laugh, he took the accessory from your grasp and went to pay for it. You blinked at the sudden sight of his back, noticing for the first time how broad his shoulders were. When he came back to your side, he held the norigae in front of you but pulled it back when you reached out for it. He pointed at the bag of yeot and opened his mouth. Baffled, you turned around to walk away.
He caught your wrist and spun you back around. He bent down and your face stopped an inch away from his. His usual shy self was gone and he had a confident smirk on his lips.
“Does your heart not sway even at a close distance like this?” he asked. This time, he caught you off guard. When you finally came back to your senses, you hurriedly shoved a piece of yeot into his mouth and stormed off.
“Y/n, you make me laugh too hard and too much!” you heard his voice call out, making you blush crimson with embarrassment.

With your upcoming wedding looming over your head, it became increasingly difficult to communicate with the ministers. There were too many eyes to be wary of. Juyeon, of course, was one of them.
As you spent more time with him, you realized how sentimental he was. He brought you small, meaningful gifts and loved to tell you about the meanings behind each flower.
“Did you know that the plum blossom is one of the indications of spring's arrival?” he asked one day. “They can bloom as early as late March.”
“I think it is quite obvious that it is spring,” you commented, pointing at the variety of flowers surrounding you.
“My personal favorite flower is the rose of sharon,” he continued. “It is nicknamed the “immortal flower” and means “eternal blossom that never fades” because of its resilience. It regrows despite harsh conditions and even after it is damaged. Amazing, isn’t it?”
You hummed, looking for the flower he was talking about.
“I used to hope that our kingdom would take after the flower. We have survived through many tragedies and I hope that we will survive through anything else that tries to beat us down,” his words pricked you for some reason. Would your rebellion be seen as a tragedy or as a heroic deed?
“Now, I like to think that our love will be like the rose of sharon. My love for you will never fade and I will continue to pine after you despite your harsh words. Even if you hurt me, my feelings will transcend time,” he smiled. “The flower does not bloom until July. My wish is to go see them with you. Would you bless me with your presence when the time comes?”
You observed his lovestruck expression and couldn’t bring yourself to say no. Again, you were at a loss trying to understand why he was so besotted with you. His childlike innocence was almost pure to a fault in a place like the palace.
“I shall consider it if you teach me how to swing a sword,” you proposed.
He couldn’t hide both his shock and happiness. He was confused as to why you wanted to ever hold a weapon but glad that you were slowly opening up to him. Without a second thought, he agreed to your proposition.
Juyeon was full of bliss at the thought of spending more time with you. Teaching you swordsmanship would allow him to be intimate with you and he was thrilled. At your first secret lesson, his heart raced at your proximity as he guided your hands on how to properly wield the blade.
A week passed by and you quickly improved each day. Eventually, you became skilled enough to land a fake jab. Seeing your proud smile, he grinned as well.
“I guess I should be on edge now. If I annoy my princess one too many times, my life will literally be at your hands,” he joked.
“Do you regret training me?” you smirked.
“Ah, was this all a part of your plan?” he pretended to gasp. “Either to kill me off or to threaten me to obedience?”
Not finding his joke funny, you blankly stared at him. Noticing the sudden chill in the atmosphere, he awkwardly laughed.
“Do not worry, Your Highness. I will always do as you say. You do not need a sword to make me behave.” he smiled.
You hated to admit it but he had grown on you. His constant attempts to tear down your wall had finally made a crack. You had to stop before he became your weakness.
Tumblr media
For the first time in a while, you were summoned to the king’s chamber. Expecting another reprimand, you dreaded the walk there. To your surprise, however, you were greeted with a smile he hadn’t given you in years. It kind of freaked you out.
“You called for me, Your Majesty?” you bowed.
“I hear you have been getting along wonderfully with the Chief State Councillor’s son. Finally, you are fulfilling your duty as this kingdom’s princess,” he commended.
What a back-handed compliment. You wanted to roll your eyes at his passive aggressiveness. Holding back your urges, you politely smiled instead.
“I just wanted to let you know that I will be in a hurry to complete your wedding. I need the Chief State Councillor’s support to find a suitable wife for the crown prince,” he announced.
“Is my marriage merely a way for the crown prince to find a wife with a powerful family?” you shot back.
Your question turned the mood scarily sour. You felt his anger rise as he chastised you for your impudence and disrespect.
“The crown prince is the future leader of our kingdom. He is more than deserving of the immense care, thought, and effort that goes into picking his consort. His consort will be this kingdom’s queen and will be the one to bear the next king. You are nothing but a useless girl who will belong to a different family.”
“I am still a member of the royal family, am I not?”
“You are just a good-for-nothing girl that will leave this palace soon,” he spat. “Now leave. You are dismissed.”
On your way out, you ran into the crown prince who looked at you in a way you found to be offensive. You paused your steps and turned around.
“I wish you fertility, Crown Prince. After all, the kingdom relies on your performance to produce an heir to the throne,” you said, lacing your words with venom. “I would imagine you would hate having to adopt a nephew.”
You could tell you had gotten under his skin yet again and left satisfied. You loathed and condemned your family with a burning passion. You couldn’t wait for the day it would all come to a bitter end.
While you were brooding, you didn’t notice Juyeon sneaking up on you. When you finally saw him, you nearly jumped. Your hand reached out to cover your heart, trying to calm it down. Sheepishly, he apologized for startling you.
Trying to keep you from walking away from him, he held onto the hem of your sleeve. Your heart softened at the gentle manner he treated you with. Ignoring your instincts, you let him cling onto you. Instead of making you turn around to face him, he walked in front of you.
“Will you accompany me to the garden today as well?” he asked earnestly.
Knowing that the court ladies were watching, you reluctantly accepted his invitation once again. This time, he surprised you with a bag filled with yeot. He looked so proud of himself for remembering your love for the sweet treat that it made you laugh. As a reward, he grabbed a piece for himself. Unaware of the smudge it left on the corner of his lips, he was conscious of your gaze and tried to look attractive.
“Worry not, Your Highness. You will get to look at this face every day and every night once we marry,” he assured.
Despite his wise exterior, he had a goofy side to him. He was pure and innocent—everything you weren’t. You could see why the king favored him so much.
“I do not understand why you are so eager to become my consort,” you suddenly blurted. “You know that it is just a flashy title that does not award you with much privileges. It is an empty position; you cannot hold office without a special order from the king. Do you simply see yourself as a stepping stone for your father to bring honor to your family?”
“Is my love for you an acceptable response?” he asked after some thought.
“Is it truly worth your dangerous status as the princess’s husband and king’s son-in-law? The royal family has many enemies,” you warned.
“I will be the one to protect you from such enemies,” he declared.
Was he naive or has his affection for you blinded him?
“Princess Y/n,” he said solemnly as he held your hand. “I promise to love and protect you for as long as my heart beats. No, even after it ceases to beat, I will still yearn for you. I will not demand or expect you to do the same. Even if your feelings for me are not as strong as my feelings for you, I will not blame you. But will you please give me the chance to try to win you over?”
His confession triggered an alarm in your head. He was never supposed to fall for you this hard and you were never supposed to allow him to. He had no idea how cunning and conniving you really were. Only the people in the palace knew how cold-hearted you could be. You had to be in order to survive.
You refused to give him a reply and pulled your hand away. His face fell but he forced himself to smile again. In an attempt to break the tension, he made a random comment on the weather.
After you two parted, you decided to speed things up to initiate the revolt. Once you joined hands in marriage, Juyeon would inevitably end up a target as well. If you wanted to spare him, you needed to overthrow the corrupted royal family before he became a part of it.
Tumblr media
It was officially the day before the insurrection. To be honest, you weren’t really nervous. This was what you had been anticipating your entire life.
Yet why did you have a moment of weakness when you saw Juyeon that afternoon? He approached you with that boyish smile that did wonders to your normally rational mind. Feeling what you believed was pity, you wanted to leave him with a pleasant memory.
So you ended up convincing him to sneak you out of the palace again. This time, you were a lot more enthusiastic. You wanted to try all the pastries and insisted that he taste them too.
“You seemed to have a lot on your mind these days,” he carefully pointed out. “Has the problem that has been bothering you been resolved now?”
“It will soon,” you eluded.
You stared at the man in front of you, observing his features. He was, without a doubt, good looking. You could see why all the court ladies, palace maids, and girls of the village were so smitten with him. But you still didn’t get why he chose you to fawn over. Maybe it was because of the lack of affection you grew up with but something about having someone care for you was unsettling.
You had suitors court you before but none of them were as devoted as Juyeon. He always came off as genuine. Perhaps his sincerity was what made you lower your guard.
“I promise to lavish you with such outings if that is what makes you happy,” he proclaimed, almost making you laugh.
“Why do you make so many vows?” you inquired.
“I am a man who keeps his word and you are the only one I give it to,” he grinned. You wondered how happy he had to be to smile so often. You rarely had reasons to be smiling.
He glanced down at the table and examined the rows of binyeos. Holding one up, he held the hair pin against your hair.
“May I gift you this binyeo?” he asked.
You pursed your lips, feeling just a tad bit of guilt. You were used to being showered with extravagance but with Juyeon, it was different. There was an emotional value attached to each present.
“Only if you promise me one other thing,” you negotiated.
“Of course. I will do anything you ask of me,” he responded.
“Promise me that you will not visit the palace tomorrow,” you said sternly. He looked at you with curiosity.
“Tomorrow is… a day of mourning for me. I do not wish to see you until the day after,” you lied.
“This is the first time you have expressed your desire to see me,” he lit up at your last sentence. “I will prepare a magnificent date for when I see you over-morrow.”
You almost felt sorry for his naiveté. And you almost—just almost—felt sorry for deceiving him.
Tumblr media
The fateful day arrived at last. You stood, taking one last glimpse at your reflection. Subconsciously, your hand reached out to touch the binyeo in your hair.
The roars of the royal guards and the clanks of combat rumbled throughout the palace. With a determined look, you left your chamber. The sword in your clenched fist dragged across the ground as you made your way to the throne hall.
When you finally busted through the door, the king sat as if he had been waiting for you.
“I should have known that this was your doing,” he scowled. “Was your luxurious life as a princess not enough for you? Could you not fight the temptation of avarice?”
“Nothing about my life was ever comfortable,” you corrected. “I always had to play along to match your mood in order to avoid being married off to an old man just out of your spite. You tried to drill your toxic mentality in me because my individuality terrified you. You made it a point to constantly tear me down. So I made it a point to see your demise.”
“You have always been this sly ever since you were a little girl. I knew I would regret your birth the moment I saw your eyes. And I was right. You are nothing but a vile bitch.”
“For the longest time, I thought I was deserving of your hatred. But I came to the realization that you simply belittled me just for being a girl. Do not forget, Your Majesty, that the womb inside me is the same as the one that bore you the crown prince.”
Mockingly, you approached the throne. It was incredible how that one seat gave its owner immense power.
“Speaking of which, why is it that only men carry on the family name?” you questioned. “Do you not realize that women are the ones who carry on the precious bloodline you always speak of? It is the body of women that conceive and grow another human inside them. It is the body of women that suffer through labor to deliver you children and nurture them to good health. The only thing you do is spread your seeds like a fruit. And then blame women for your own infertility.”
“All throughout history, it has been men who carried on the royal bloodline. What makes you think that you are worthy of special treatment?”
“Bloodline, bloodline, bloodline,” you rolled your eyes in irritation. “Do not fool yourself. It is not blood you care about but name. Men may carry on the nameline but we are the ones who give you the royal blood pumping in your veins.”
You sloppily lifted the sword to the king’s neck, smirking.
“I knew you would be the one to bring my downfall,” he glared.
“Well, how does it feel to have all your fears come true, my king?” you taunted. “You were always afraid that I would either surpass you or ruin you. Now, I will be the one to end this damned bloodline. This good-for-nothing girl will take back the royal blood that was given to you by a woman.”
With that, you slashed his neck. Blood splattered across the wall and on your face. You grimaced, wiping away the warm liquid. You were surprisingly calm in front of such a gruesome sight. That was, until Juyeon came bursting through the door.
After he had parted from you the day before, he could not get you out of his mind. Something about your eyes had been melancholic. Your words sounded like a foreshadow and it left him feeling disturbed. So he broke his promise and went to the palace to see you again. He was alarmed to see the chaos ensuing and immediately searched for you. However, he never expected the situation he stumbled into.
“P-Princess Y/n,” he stuttered, making you aim the weapon at yourself. You never intended or wanted him to witness this.
“Do not come any closer,” you warned.
“Your Highness, please. Put the sword down,” he begged.
“I cannot,” you gulped. “This is how it must end.”
“We-we can run away. Together. We can leave everything behind and I will keep you safe,” he said as he tried his best to stay calm.
You wanted to both laugh and cry. Your life was a suicidal mission. You knew from the beginning that you would not be able to survive. If you failed, you would be executed for treason. If you succeeded, you would be executed to officially end the royal bloodline.
You had to admit, you slightly wavered at one point. Juyeon’s promise to make you happy was enticing. To someone who never strayed close to emotions before, he was like a miracle. He made you feel all sorts of things that you were glad to have experienced.
“I apologize, Lord Lee,” you sadly smiled before you stabbed the blade into your stomach.
“No!” he screamed as he ran to your side.
You slowly fell to the ground with Juyeon’s arms wrapped around your body. His hands shook above the wound as he cried, knowing that he couldn’t take it out without ensuring your death. He never thought that what he taught you would be used against yourself. If he had known that this was what you planned on using your skills for, he never would have taken your offer.
“I am afraid I will not be able to go see the rose of sharons with you,” you said as a tear escaped your eyes.
Your vision began to cloud and you felt the life in you leave with every breath you took. You didn’t even realize that your hand was gripping his clothes, crinkling it. Another tear rolled down your cheek as your head fell back, your neck unable to support it any longer.
He desperately clung onto you, holding your head in his bloodied hands.
“I will bring the flowers to you,” he affirmed.
“Another promise,” you chuckled.
“This one I will be sure to keep,” he stated as his own tears fell to your face.
Next to the weapon embedded in you was the norigae he bought you the first time you escaped the palace together. He looked up to see that you were wearing the binyeo he bought you as well. He sobbed, holding onto you tighter.
“I hope to be reborn as a rose of sharon. That way, I can come see you every spring,” you whispered before you closed your eyes for the last time.
