✾ Goofyness!
I wanted to make a proper post about his goofier quirks, as I feel my penchant for the sad stuff has likely brought up some misconceptions about Kaede. To start with, he's not whiny or aggressive and tends to deal with what's bothering him in private, strictly. He's very much the type to lick his wounds when there isn't anyone around - brave face, stoic, half-hearted jokes type, in the end, because he doesn't want to bring anyone else down.
So, here are some of the goofier things about him!
✾ Writing Letters
He's a big fan of letter-writing as it feels more personal to him. He tends to get distracted in the middle and will end up calligraphically sketching a hydrangea, spider lily, other such flowers, or Muushi in the margins. On occasion, he'll just outright sign his letters with little drawings of Muushi. He only signs his name when it's a formal letter.
✾ Chocolate
Kaede loves chocolate - all kinds - despite not having much of a sweet tooth. He loves chocolate so much, honestly, if you got him some for an apology, he'd probably forgive you right away. But if you tried to nab his last one, he'd throw down in a heartbeat.
✾ Hup, Hup!
Everyone's gotta have a little sense of whimsy in their lives, right? Why not quietly pretend he's Mario when he's jumping around, trying to balance on things, lifting, climbing, etc.? He gets a kick out of it; It's highly amusing to him, in the same vein as singing to the tune of the Wii song.
✾ Shoes & Spa
He turns into a little bit of a baby when it comes to feet in general. He thinks most shoes are hideous and uncomfortable - that's the biggest reason why he doesn't wear them himself. Feet, icky. Shoes, icky. To mitigate the calluses he gets from hobbit feet, he takes meticulous care of his feet, frequenting a spa before and after missions. Pedicures - he loves 'em.
✾ Sharing
Surprisingly, he actually doesn't mind sharing food or drinks ( or even clothes), but beware - he will take a sip or bite out of whatever you've got next time (with friends and the like). A big chomp! moment, for sure, with a shit-eating grin to go along with it.
✾ Music
He listens a mix of metal, indie, r&b, and Japanese funk. On occasion, he'll play the piano while he's listening - he's got a good ear for it. But for the most part, if he's listening to music, it's because he's cleaning, bumpin' like somebody's mom in the 90s.
✾ Taunts & Quips
Less goofy, but he does have a tendency to taunt both friend and foe for his own amusement. His taunts are completely terrible (or corny as hell), and that's the only reason they could ever be funny, and he can't always pull a good quip out of his ass - I'm serious, his delivery is awful. It's hilarious. It's better if he just sticks with the usual 'how dare you' because the rest is just embarrassing unu
✾ Speaking of Embarrassment...
Boy gets all red in the face so easily, like you wouldn't believe. It never takes much. You just gotta find the sweet spot at just the right time and he'll never recover. It's like a QTE. 'Press O to Decimate Kaede's Composure' with an 'L' in the chat to go with it. And it doesn't matter, even, what it is that you do.
✾ Laughing
So, I hate to do this to him, but he has a goofy ass laugh. A genuine laugh, but still goofy as hell. He sounds a bit like a wheezing alleycat. His voice cracks and fluctuates a bit, and is usually low in volume. I'd say it's one of those laughs that make you go, 'Omg are you okay?' and they're just...dying, of laughter lol. He'll normally just keep himself at a good chuckle so as not to risk sounding Undignified when he's actually amused by something. He does not want to be embarrassed.
✾ Bubble Tea
He has a love like no other for bubble tea. In fact, he loves it so much, he will pay for you to have some yourself - insist on it, in fact. You get boba, and YOU get boba - everyone gets bobaaaa! That sorta deal. Even if he doesn't like you whatsoever, you'll get a, 'Would you like some? I'm getting you some. Please enjoy.' So polite.
✾ Running Away
So, he's actually more lame for this than anything, but he gets extremely nervous when people he doesn't expect at all seek him out, so he'll scramble to get away. He will go to great lengths not to be percieved by anyone but exactly who he needs to talk to. He's usually caught pretty quick though! And when he is, with a dramatic sigh, he resigns himself to his fate. Kind of a walking trope right here, smh.
✾ Jokes!
He does, in fact, have a sense of humor! Dark jokes, dad jokes, sex jokes, the oddly specific dysfunctional family jokes, inside jokes - please, try to make him laugh. He can't tell a good joke to save his life, but dammit, he'll try! Depending on the joke, he might get flustered, though.
✾ Memes
He is absolutely wise to the internet. He is no fool, and he won't get caught in your trap! A known sufferer of Foot in Mouth Disease, he simply cannot. Nope. Why risk sounding like a reddit post?
✾ Another Dating Tidbit
If he's been got, well, he likes to dress nice for his partners! It might come off as a little strange at first, but he'll dress in fitting outfits and even do his hair (y'know, straighten it, throw it up in a nice ponytail or braid, etc. maybe it's maybelline, u kno? u kno). He considers dates to be worth getting a little dressed up for, for everyone involved even if it's Not That Serious.

AM Chapter 19
So happy that AM has detoured from the path VW/SS is following because that means I get to play a different map!
Possible spoilers for all routes up until ch 19 and SS ch 18 below.
Pre-Battle
So excited for this chapter - because two lords are actually going to work together. It's the first time and looking like the only time based on what's happened in other routes.

Wow, Claude set himself up as bait to get the enemy inside all based on how much he trusted Dimitri and Byleth? That's more of a mastermind scheme than he's pulled in his own route.

Battle
Arundel doesn't really add much to the sad state of elder men from the Empire, does he?
By "that idiot," does he mean Cornelia? He can't mean Fleche.
Claude calling us late while Dimitri is all serious. Yeah, I can see the appeal of shipping them together lol.
Dude, Hilda just crit the first (and second) dude who attacked her. What a champ.
If Hilda dies, does she die for good? I don't think I want to test that theory and will just blitz this map. Which is easy with the Blue Lions in part thanks to Dimitri just being absurd. They're also surprisingly critical happy. Not that I'm complaining.
You know, the last time I was here, I was invading and killing Claude and Hilda instead of defending them. This feels so much better.
Arundel's talking mad shit for a man who's army got decimated in like three turns (other than that little corner he's hiding in, but Dimitri's right there so).
Time for Dimitri vs Arundel dialogue.
I forgot that was his uncle. Poor guy can't catch a break (Dimitri, not Arundel, fuck Arundel).
Dimitri telling Arundel he's rather calm for someone in his position (FYI, all his soldiers are dead).
Why does Arundel want him and Edelgard to kill each other? He really didn't answer the question about what happened lol.
Man, this was way too short. The other routes took me like 10-15 rounds. This one got cleared in 5.
I protected Hilda and Judith! So they gave me presents. Feels good. Feels so good compared to slaughtering Judith while she tries to retreat and killing Hilda for protecting Claude.
Post-Battle
This is legit the only route so far were all three lords get to do something after the time skip except die.
It's nice seeing two lords just talk without wanting to kill each other. Makes me wish we got more of this. But, hey, at least it's Dimitri and Claude who got the chance too.
Claude calling Dimitri and Byleth soft-hearted. He's not wrong.
I bet Dimitri's so embarrassed right now, Claude saying he knew Dimitri would set his own goals aside to help Claude and Byleth just agreeing.
Claude really gambled on Dimitri lol.
Oh, we get Claude's weapon! That's pretty cool. He gave us a present. Edelgard didn't get one.
Why is the Alliance gone? Wait, they just decided to join Dimitri? Did Claude just dump the Alliance in Dimitri's lap?
😂😂😂😂😂 Poor Dimitri. All he ever wanted was to be a good king and revenge and now he's the leader of the Alliance too lamo.
I'm know it's not going to happen, but how banger if I now got to use Claude too.

Oh, now we get to go rescue Rhea.
Yessss promise to meet again. Though I'm sure that's after the game is over. Still, feels good knowing Claude and Dimitri parted on such good terms. Seems like it's a good sign for the future. And the Alliance just willingly joined the Kingdom too.
Oh, God, Felix, never change. Demanding Dimitri tell the truth. Oh, about Edelgard being his step-sister. And Dimitri's telling them about it.
Ugh, how can he talk about his step-mother so calmly? Do we know if she caused Duscur? I really don't want her to have done that for Dimitri's sake, but given how he's this game's punching bag . . .
Glad Rodrigue knew about Patricia. That means Lambert really trusted Rodrigue.
Mercedes is always so compassionate. I love her so much.
Annette - "I feel the idea of fighting family is just about the worst thing ever." Also Annette, can get recruited to Crimson Flower (I'm betting she gets to fight Gilbert at least once, right?)
OMG Sylvain remembered that dagger 😂😂😂 I love how casual Dimitri and Sylvain are with each other in general. It's nice since he's got so many strained relationships, but with Sylvain it's always been pretty easy between those two.
I love how Felix is concerned that Dimitri can't bring himself to kill Edelgard. What a far cry from the guy who didn't think Dimitri deserved to walk on two legs.
Oh, great, another lord willing to work with Edelgard. $10 says she refuses to work with Dimitri too.

Wait, though, are we actually going to talk with Edelgard? Is this like . . . diplomacy? In my Fire Emblem? Just Dimitri things I guess.
It's a waste of breath though. Edelgard has no interest in working with Claude or Dimitri.
Edelgard really just takes Ls after she wins before the time skip.
Wait, what is Edelgard planning? "There is no other way," um except there is. You could just, not, take over Fodlan and kill everyone who won't let you stomp all over them.
You know what? I noticed something. Edelgard lied to all the Black Eagles (sans Hubert) about that attack from the evil death cult group (I refuse to call them "those who slither in the dark"). Claude got pressured to come clean about his origins to the Golden Deer, but didn't tell them. He didn't lie, but he didn't tell them about him. Dimitri, though, opened right up to the Blue Lions about him and Edelgard. It's funny that all three get scenes like this, where there's pressure on the lord to reveal something and Edelgard lies, Claude withholds, and Dimitri tells everyone the truth. Blue Lions really feel like a family.
New Chapter
This one is still different from VW and SS now.
We get a different picture too!
So now we go kill the Death Knight - again - Mercedes is gonna be big sad though. Maybe I'll tea time her to try and cheer her up.
So everyone is uniting under Dimitri now. Let's go.
So the next chapter is this fort with the Death Knight there?
Poor Mercie is sad though. I don't like her being sad.

Hyena Ep. 16
I’m baaack! Kind of. I think I hit that point in my quarantine life where I kind of lost my mind so I went on an unexpected hiatus that lasted longer than intended. I know it’s been over a month after the finale of Hyena but here are my ramblings. This post is super long so I’ll save my thoughts on the series as a whole for another post.
Objectively, it was a pretty good finale that was entertaining and wrapped up the important plot lines. We even got some sweet otp moments (more on that later) and satisfying smackdown of the bad guy. But subjectively? Personally? Purely based on my selfish expectations? I wanted more romance! More sexiness! I wasn’t expecting a wedding or anything like that but, not even one kiss? Or a long embrace? Why????
I mean, how can you give me all this sexy chemistry in the promos:
And then not make use of it in the finale? That’s just not fair I say! I feel bamboozled!
Ep. 16
Anyway, let’s talk about the parts I enjoyed of the finale. This is mainly (99%) going to be about the moments between Geum Ja and Hee Jae. So on the morning of episode 16, way back when, I woke up so excited for the finale. Since this was the last episode, surely there will be a kiss! And surely it would be epic given the chemistry between JJH and KHS. I mean did you see that kiss in episode 8? So when we started off the episode with the scene of Hee Jae telling Geum Ja he didn’t want to see her hurt anymore, I was amped. Yes, we’re starting off strong with the romantic scenes I thought.
How can you not fall for him?
Geum Ja, you are not a gangster, you do not need to show your story through the scars on your body. Joking aside, it’s sad that she’s been through so much in life that she has the scars to prove it.
I love that Hee Jae says this half-sarcastically but you can tell that he truly does not want Geum Ja to go through any more pain/suffering. And it’s his sincerity that makes Geum Ja smile so softly. And this is where they kiss right?
Nope, he gets a hearty bro punch in the shoulder.

Mmm I loved how many scenes of concerned Hee Jae we got in this episode.
Geum Ja screams from a nightmare and Hee Jae immediately runs into the office to check on her. The only way he could have reacted so quickly is if he was sitting outside the office guarding Geum Ja which...AHHH I think I’ve just died and gone to hurt/comfort heaven. Just look at JJH’s face.
EEE! I audibly squealed when Geum Ja said this. Ok, now I’ve truly died. Geum Ja? Asking to be comforted? By Hee Jae? What? This is major. She’s finally letting down her walls a little bit around Hee Jae and allowing herself to be vulnerable. Keep on leaning I say! Lean all the way into bed.
Omg and then she showed concern over Hee Jae’s own emotional state despite her own trauma. His dad totally betrayed him just a few hours ago so Hee Jae’s having a pretty shitty day too. But of course, Hee Jae is only concerned about Geum Ja. Ahh, how many times is he going to make me swoon in this episode?
Feet piled on top of each other?! Are they finally in bed together?
Of course not. Unfortunately, this isn’t that type of drama. SIGH. But this is still very sweet and squeal-inducing.
Have I talked about how much I love JJH’s little sly smirks?
I love that these two fools can’t stop worrying about the other. Geum Ja knows better than anyone how deep emotional scars caused by a parent can be. On top of that, Hee Jae’s father was someone he respected and loved, so the blow is even bigger. I just really like it when my otp show how much they care about each other, ok?
Look at that smile on Hee Jae’s face. It’s like there’s no other place he would rather be than next to Geum Ja.
No, please don’t. Y’all are not 12. Please get at least a queen size bed with plenty of room for two adults to move around in and do...adult things lol.
And then. AND THEN! Geum Ja takes the initiative and turns over towards Hee Jae. She’s finally the one taking the first step towards him without any prodding. And Hee Jae smiles to himself and follows her lead to turn over also. And then the two fools smile lovingly at each other as they fall asleep. Omg, excuse me, I need a moment. I’ve temporarily passed on to the other side from sheer otp happiness.
This moment was just too good. I literally raised both my arms up into the air and cheered when I first watched this episode. I thought, wow the writers are feeding us so well. They’re showering us with so many romantic scenes. The otp caring for each other? Being tender with each other? Sharing a “bed?” I don’t want to ever get off this love train, keep it coming! This is only the first third of the episode so surely it can only go up from here.
And then it ended on a comedic note. I guess I should have seen that coming. This is SBS, not TVN (or JTBC from the looks of The World of the Married). Hah, well I suppose they both had a pretty tiring day so it’s understandable that they would not have much energy to do anything else.
It’s the little everyday things like asking if she’s ok that get me.

Lol, he wouldn’t be Hee Jae if he didn’t pull something childish/petty. At least Geum Ja is amused by it and finds it cute now. Get you a man who can be both your emotional support and amusing bratty boyfriend.
Geum Ja does end up meeting Hee Jae for dinner and he can’t help but smile a little. Gosh, it takes so little from Geum Ja to make him happy.

So some time during this episode, Geum Ja’s adoptive father died off-screen from the stab wound he sustained while stopping her assailant. At first, I went “Huh, that’s it?” But then the more I thought about it, the more I liked how matter-of-factly it was treated. It’s certainly consistent with how Geum Ja deals with things. Also, she faced her demons/him in a previous episode so you could say that she already resolved that chapter of her life.
Still, you could tell that she’s not completely unaffected by it. KHS’s acting in this scene is so good. You can tell there’s more to it than what she’s saying just by the little subtle changes in her expression. I can only imagine the many complicated feelings she must be experiencing.
On the one hand, he’s the worst part of her past life and surely deserved to die. But on the other hand, unintentional or not, he died saving her. Geum Ja does not state this with any affection or sentimentality in her voice. It is merely something that happened. Thank goodness the writers did not try to redeem him in the last minute. One good deed does not make up for all the violence and abuse inflicted on her and her mother.
Anyway, all that muddled history and emotions would make anybody conflicted. They really handled it the best way they could - simply state what happened and move on. No hate, no praise, no sadness. He was a terrible man who paid the ultimate price and died. I like that Hee Jae understands not to push the matter any further and changes the subject.
Bro, you’re delusional if you think you still have a chance with her.
And then we get to the ubiquitous Big Shareholder Meeting that we see so often in dramas. I love how Geum Ja is so ballsy in everything she does and she does it all in her comfy tracksuits. Of course the Big Shareholder Meeting does not go as planned and Song Pil Jung gets arrested.
God I love the look on Geum Ja’s face. It screams “is this guy still talking to me?”
Can I just say, I love how utterly brutal Geum Ja is in her rejection of Kevin Jung. Woof, ouch. If I ever heard that from someone I liked, I would be so devastated and embarrassed, I’d find a dark hole to bury myself in and lick my wounds. But of course, Kevin, like all the other men who fall for Geum Ja, seems to be into it. It takes a certain type of man to go for Geum Ja and apparently that type is a total masochist who likes getting rejected and their heart ripped out. I mean, to each their own.
I like whenever they do their power couple strut.
A bro fist bump? Really? Hm, I never really fist bumped the guys I dated but that’s cool I guess. They’re going in to destroy Song Pil Jung so I guess a fist bump is appropriate.

I live for jealous Hee Jae because he’s extra ridiculous whenever he’s jealous. In this scene he’s getting jealous over Ju-Ho calling Geuma Ja “noona” and it’s like come on, they’re foster siblings. Let him call her noona. Side note, Netflix translates “noona” into Eun-Young, Geum Ja’s real name, and it irks me. Couldn’t they have just translated it into “sis” instead?
Now we’re around the 55 minute mark and I’m thinking, okay this is probably where it’s going to end. This is when it’s going to happen. They don’t have that much time left in the episode. All right, give me us all that we’ve been waiting for.

Well. All right then. You know, the first time I watched this episode, I felt very disappointed that there was no final kiss. I mean the last time we saw them kissing was in episode 8 at the midpoint of the drama. This drama was clearly a rom com/screwball comedy so it only seemed fitting that there would be one last kiss scene. That’s how you end a romantic drama! But alas.
Actually, upon re-watching and re-capping this episode, I realized that even though we did not get any kiss scene, the writers still gave us plenty of sweet moments between Hee Jae and Geum Ja. We got to see their lovely progression into becoming partners who supported and trusted each other so that was nice. Even though they’re clearly together now, it’s nice to see that they still have their playful bickering dynamic. So objectively, it was a nice ending. I just personally wanted more smooches.

also omg ik this is just a story and it’s not that deep (or maybe it is) but for anyone who can relate to hyunjin, there’s thing this my grandpa always told me. that we don’t always have to try and make a career out of things we are good at but don’t love. but it’s equally important to realise that we don’t have to try and make a career out of things we DO love.
so if you wanna dance and you enjoy it, then yeah! do it. be a part of a dance crew. post stuff on youtube. make it a fun hobby that gives you strength. but don’t give up on the real world and your responsibilities. if you’re good at something, then work hard and get something out of it. and if that includes academics... then go ahead and do that!
it’s a privilege to be able to learn things and process information more easily than others. not everyone can do that. so you might as well do your best and make something out of it instead of sitting around making yourself feel bad and letting your talents waste away. nobody said you couldn’t do both. why restrict yourself to just one thing?
it’s hard to come to terms with the fact that sometimes we have to let certain dreams go. but just because you have to give up on smtg professionally, doesn’t mean you can’t do it for yourself. my chemistry professor loves art. but he can’t just become an artist in this economy. so he teaches chemistry and does boring research and he’s somehow found the worth in his career and enjoys it. but at the same time, he’s always painting and sharing his art on social media. and he recently even got to be a part of an art gallery!
you can do both. the boring thing and the fun thing. imagine how boring life would be if we just restricted ourselves and became self destructive and sabotaged our own wellbeing. so yeah! idk if any of these words meant anything but i just really wanted to say this in case someone out there might need to hear this ^^

there’s two types of kids in this group: hjr and enyu screaming their butts off, and lin mo and xzx wallowing in regret of their life decisions

lin mo talking real talk over dinner about their feelings BC HES A REAL LEADER and knows how important it is to address this. these concerns are obviously very present in his mind, even when theyre out having fun to relax, and he’s still trying his best to figure out how he can help them and motivate them.
makes sense that they would include enyu interview clips bc hes surely spouting the real talk, but i think its interesting its mainly him and lin mo getting screen time.
enyu would be the one to speak up and say something when lin mo is trying to talk to them though. i think theyre both right though, im guessing lin mo is in part too nice, bc he doesnt feel comfortable enough with them to be as strict as he normally is, bc he knows they have reason to not be motivated and he feels bad for them. but at the same time, he brings up a good point that they themselves need to have their own motivation. it cant just be him putting in effort. and i HUGELY respect that he is telling this to them straight up bc its a hard conversation to have, esp bc im sure he wants them to like him as a friend. but i respect that he knows if they have problems they have to air them out bc lack of communication will be too costly.
momo is lucky he has someone like enyu on his team who’ll actually talk to him with real opinions rather than just hide in fear of disrupting the status quo. literally enyu is the one voicing that he doesnt want takeout and he doesnt want to stay up late, and other people agree, but the surprise on lin mo’s face just tells you that he wouldnt have even realized these are things that are bothering his teammates unless they straight up told him, and thankfully enyu did, bc lin mo thankfully is reasonable and willing to change his habits for the sake of the group TO HELP THEM. hes willing to do anything he can to help them, as long as they tell him what they want from him. huang enyu’s lesson in communication, dont let people guess, just tell them straight up
its interesting bc its clear enyu respects lin mo a lot, says he has the experience and the skill and the right to yell at them to get it together, but hes still not afraid to tell lin mo he thinks lin mo should be more strict with them. and then i respect lin mo for not backing down when being criticized and for strongly insisting that they need to put in effort themselves too. he cant force them to do anything they dont want to do themselves. they themselves have to want to do well.
lin mo is really out here taking care of his group of children and leading them and helping them and looking out for them and im just floored by his leadership yet again. i really hope they can pull it together.
lin mo is a dork and stanning him leads to mostly either second-hand embarrassment or disappointment. from qcyn to snzm, it just always feels like he’s being mistreated and taken advantage of and stepped on, and sad things just keep happening to him. but then he has these moments where he reminds you of why he’s worth stanning. why it’s worth waiting for something good to finally actually happen. and why he deserves those good things. its just so nice to see hes getting some appreciation and recognition for the things he does. at least youku let us see his leadership in action.

Fate/stay night Réalta Nua Part 5 - Heaven’s Feel Route (1/2)
Day 1-10
Since Sakura barely appears in the other routes after a while, I kinda forgot how soothing of a person she is, and how sweet it is that both Shirou and her love to cook for each other. I like how Shirou prioritised taking Sakura home for her safety rather than caring about the possibility of him and Shinji fighting (since Shinji doesn’t like Sakura going to Shirou’s place to cook). Honestly, with how beautiful and kind Sakura is, it’s really saddening how she feels like the only time she can truly be herself and have fun is when she goes to Shirou’s place to cook and spend time with him and Taiga. They’re such simple everyday things, but somehow it’s so difficult for her to truly have something so simple in her life. That bruise on Shirou…was it from one of the bugs at Sakura’s place or something? Although it seems implied in the UBW route (and explicitly shown in the UBW anime), I guess both Sakura and Rin were inspired by the Shirou four years ago that kept challenging a high jump bar for three hours persevering and never giving up for such a long time. Even though in the end, he wasn’t able to succeed, I think seeing him continue to try so hard really affected them and their mindset. In a sense, both Shirou and Sakura were feeling crap at that time, Sakura was probably plagued with the Matou family circumstances as usual with no outbreak at all (until she met Shirou properly and he taught her how to cook etc), and at that time Kiritsugu just passed away so Shirou was really down and just did reckless things as an outlet I guess. And yet now they’re both here supporting each other, it’s so cute. I loved how he brought a tea set and quietly had tea with her in the classroom until she felt better (since she seems really bothered about Shirou’s bruise).
I think a lot of the reason why Shirou is the way he is, is not only because of Kiritsugu saving him influencing him, but also the people he encountered in the fire ten years ago. It’s surprising, but it seems that in Shirou’s memories, a lot of the people he saw who died in the fire were people who sacrificed themselves for others. People who gave their lives to save children, people who would give their own limited water to another, only for them to die instead etc, and although there were people who walked past others “leaving” others to die, it didn’t really feel like something Shirou would blame them for, because he knew, he knew that in such a place surrounded by death, what you should blame aren’t the people who tried their best to survive but the existence of the fire itself, and that’s why I think Shirou is someone who aims to save everyone by not allowing such things to happen in front of him ever again, rather than the idea of saving people when terrible things happen. Well, I guess it’s kinda surprising that to an extent, Kotomine did understand Kiritsugu’s motivations etc fairly well, or maybe it took him 10 years to understand lol. Anyway, I guess it’s kinda interesting how even though Kiritsugu barely taught Shirou much about being a superhero saving everybody etc, Shirou still ended up going on this path towards an impossible dream just like him.
Hmm I guess Zouken is “alive” through the existence of the worms? Nice to see Shinji out of the picture (for now) but Zouken is definitely not going to just stop fighting~ Honestly disgusting to picture Rider “eating” an innocent woman’s spirit and mind etc, I wonder how many people they’ve done that to already… I loled when Shinji got reprimanded as useless by Zouken, but yeah he’s probably going to be even more annoying from now on even if he’s not a Master so zzzzz. On the other hand, Shirou panicking and consulting Rin on how he can protect Sakura from the war is so cute lol. Innocent Illya is always so cute but dangerous🥺🥺 I don’t blame Shirou for having a soft spot for her when she acts like that, and it’s not like she’s faking either, she’s genuine, but at the same time, she’s genuinely intending on killing Shirou. Omgg Taiga was so cute when she got traumatised at how scary Saber can be in a sword fight🤣 Everyone is so cuteeeeee lol. I love how Taiga misunderstood Shirou and Saber’s relationship (since she wants to sleep in the same room and will always obey Shirou lmao) and did a choke hold on him and threw him, but he was too heavy and she nearly hurt herself. It was so sweet how Shirou reprimanded her for doing something that could have hurt herself rather than being annoyed at her throwing him, he’s such a good boy. You definitely didn’t raise him wrong, Taiga!! LMAO at Taiga and Sakura talking about bras and sleeping with them on or not at night right in front of Shirou hahahaha. But yeah, it was really heartwarming how insistent Shirou was on telling Sakura to stay over because he was worried about her. He’s so nice😫 HAHAHA, Taiga totally deserved it when Sakura nearly killed her covering her mouth, she literally just told Shirou Sakura’s bra size!! It was hilarious but so embarrassing hahaha. Not gonna lie, Shirou was so cool when he carried Sakura back to the room. Sakura really is so reckless though. She fell asleep in the bath with a high fever and then fell down after she changed into her clothes, like seriously, take care of yourself better please Sakura!! You really can’t blame Shirou for being so worried about her tbh. And yes, I love it when the girl tugs on the guy’s shirt so that they’ll stay beside them until they fall asleep, it’s such an adorable thing to see all the timeee!
Oh man, seeing Assassin suffer such a gruesome death was terrible… I’m kind of surprised that Kuzuki lost considering how adept he is, but I guess…Sakura is a monster? Lol. Umm, that dream of Shirou having sex with Rin was way too vivid to be a dream imo, Sakura definitely did something to him! Does she eat men for magical energy or something?😟 Saber said he’s lacking magical energy, she’s definitely stealing it!!! Anyway, it was pretty cute how Sakura insisted on staying to take care of Shirou since he apparently has a fever. But at the same time, it felt ominous lol. Like, I don’t doubt Sakura’s intentions, but there’s definitely something dangerous about her that she’s probably aware of to an extent even if not fully. Lol at her getting mad every time Shirou mentions Rin though. Honestly though, Rin is the sweetest girl ever when she got all worried and concerned about Shirou not coming to school, she legit thought he died at Ryuudou Temple, it was so adorable to see how annoyed she was that he was so alive and well hahaha. Omgg, things were so peaceful without Shinji, I should have expected he’d come to get back Sakura yuckkk. Wow, he’s so disgusting, I can’t believe he just hit her straight away, and even insulted her and Shirou saying Shirou is just using her for sex, he’s straight up disgusting!! I wonder if Sakura’s fevers are caused by a lack of magical energy or something, I mean, her eyes changed back to being lifeless when she fell down due to the fever!! I never realised but (spoiler!) technically, both Sakura and Shirou were “adopted”! It’s kinda saddening when you think about that though, by getting adopted, Shirou was able to lead a normal life, whereas Sakura being adopted turned her whole life upside down… It’s nice to know that Shirou said he’d scold her if Sakura became a bad person (since she asked what he would do), but would he really? I feel like he’d comfort her and try to get her back on the “right” path more than he would shout at her haha.
I knew that Sakura found light and meaning to her life after taking care of Shirou after he got injured, but I didn’t think that Sakura was actually the one to persistently go to his place all the time to convince him that she should take care of him and cook for him etc. But I guess regardless of what her motivations were, she definitely didn’t expect that Shirou would give her the spare key to the house that Kiritsugu used to always use. Seeing her smile and so cherish that gift was quite touching, and at the same time I couldn’t help but admire how much Shirou trusted her that he could give something so important to her. I am legit so sad that the monstrous Assassin that appeared (and consumed the previous Assassin) also ended up killing and consuming Lancer😭😭 Honestly, I kinda find it frustrating that this is all happening. So, does that mean that if you take Sakura away from her home, they aren’t able to control her anymore or something? Or is it just Zouken causing trouble? HAHAHA, I loved Shirou’s impersonation of Rin at a yakiniku place being that she’ll devour her fill and say she went easy on him lmao, and I love how Rin said he was right🤣🤣🤣 Now that they’re cooperating (due to Caster still existing even though Shirou defeated her), I’m so glad to have the Shirou and Rin banter again! Like, Sakura is cute, but yeah. And lol at Rin realising too late that Shirou’s lunch was huge because Sakura made it hoping to eat it with him. I bet she waited for Shirou at the archery range thinking he’d go there since she suggested for him to go there🥺 Oh nooo, and she bumped into Shirou and Rin!! Omg, I love how Rin so easily cleared everything up and made Shirou realise that Sakura wanted to eat lunch with him! Rin even apologised about it, she’s legit so clear about it and so cool, I love her. I bet if Rin wasn’t there, it would have just turned into a situation where Sakura would be sad and Shirou would be clueless lol.
I loved how Shirou readied himself to go into the deadly Chinese restaurant that serves super hot spices from Hell (since Rin told him to go there after school), and he enters only to witness Kotomine eating mapo tofu (seemingly) furiously with his deadpan face lol! I knew Kotomine wouldn’t hesitate to reveal that he was a Master since Lancer is gone now and he wants info, but he really said it so nonchalantly lol. I loved how he actually ordered more than one serving of mapo tofu lmao, it was a great way to end their conversation hahaha. Do people really eat that just by itself?! On the other hand, it was obvious that Zouken used his blood sucking bugs or whatever they are to somehow live all this time (hundreds of years!), but it seems like there’s a limit and he’s reaching it since he can’t go out in broad daylight anymore. I was wondering when Shirou was going to remember his promise to meet with Illya at the park LOL. He totally deserved Illya getting mad at him, she waited for him in the cold!! Although Shirou saying he’ll do anything for her to forgive him leading to them going on a short little shopping trip seems to be the right choice (since there’s a CG of her enjoying the snow with Shirou), I really enjoyed how in the other option, Shirou takes Illya back to his house. I know it’s dangerous since she’s a Master, but it was just so innocent and sweet to see her enjoy something so simple like tea time with Shirou, exploring his house and even feeling sad that this is the place Kiritsugu was, so even if she wants to get mad at him, she can’t even show him anymore. It’s saddening, but it was rather bittersweet. Oh and I loved Saber arguing with Shirou about how dangerous it is letting Illya into the house, it was hilarious lmao.
Oh wow, so I guess Zouken devours humans with his bugs to kinda take their place/body? And his body is kinda literally bugs? I felt so sorry for the woman that literally got eaten… Hmm, so this magic of his only keeps his soul alive, so no matter how many bodies he takes over, he can only retain the form of Zouken himself, and due to that, his body is constantly rotting since it’s at it’s utter limit I guess. I find it so terrible that he now has to get a new body every few months now when he used to last fifty years in one, he’s really been killing so so many people! His soul is rotting is an interesting way to phrase how his existence really can’t be sustained in this world anymore… It seems like Archer recognises that “shadow” that swallows up everything and was forced to defeat it before or clean up after it…. It’s kinda disgusting that Zouken states that his simple wish for the holy grail to grant is for him to be able to live (without rotting) and yet he sacrifices every other person’s wishes to live for himself. I’m not surprised that Saber ended up getting consumed and possibly controlled by that dark thing that consumed Lancer too, but I’m honestly disappointed. Well… Rider appearing to save Shirou was rather random and unexpected even if Shinji wants Shirou to be alive so he can prove to everyone and Rin that he’s not inferior to him.. I knew Sakura would be “happy” that Saber is now gone, so she can have Shirou to herself, but I guess Shirou went against her expectations that he won’t get hurt anymore (since Saber is gone), and instead he’s going to go out even more now… I wonder if her intense hatred for whatever that is hurting Shirou is kinda causing her to go around at night as the “shadow”? Anyway, apparently Sakura is more of a pervert than Shirou lol! She legit just masturbated to him after seeing his stomach and his back when she tended to his wounds lol! And lol is Sakura like a yandere?! She’s literally thinking about hurting Shirou so much that he can’t go outside just so that he won’t be able to hurt himself anymore… Like, lady, I don’t know about hurting him to stop him from hurting himself…isn’t that a bit contradictory?? At least put him in a cage or something instead LOL.
Oh wow, I never realised that Taiga’s family is rich and has many housekeepers! That’s why Shirou was able to ask for one to help care for Sakura’s fever whilst he went to school. Like dang! LMAO at Tiger Dojo 28 when Illya tries to take over the Tiger Dojo with a tank and Taiga destroys it in one hit hahahah. Now that I think about it, when Rider said she protected Shirou because her Master said to not let him die, did she actually mean Sakura? Lol. Honestly, with the fact that Sakura being the legitimate successor of the Matou family and being the one who used a Command Spell to order Rider to listen to Shinji making him a pseudo Master, you really gotta wonder how Shinji can be so shameless and disgusting to take Sakura hostage and kick her and harm her all the time when really, he’s only a Master because of her. Hmm, Rider has eyes of petrification and she never used it until this route?! Anyway, Sakura always stops going crazy when she realises that she hurts Shirou so I think everyone should just do that from now on if they want Sakura to stop lol.
I’ve always been a bit unsure of what exactly is wrong with Sakura so it’s nice that Kotomine is explaining things lol. But hmm basically, Zouken placed a crest worm inside of Sakura to monitor her, but since this worm has lived inside her for 11 years, it’s practically become a part of her like a Magic Circuit and has since transformed into her Magic Crest. But when this crest activates, it violates all her nerves and absorbs her magical energy, and since it’s so entrenched within her, it can suck all her magical energy dry and eat her for nutrition if it continues to rampage once activated.. Oh, and the crest activates when Sakura refuses to fight the battles as a Master and tries to abandon it… That’s so cruel.. and I see…Zouken never intended on using her in the war until now because he saw her as the shadow (and thought he could win the war this time)! So in the end, it’s because Shirou cared about her too much in this route that led to this lol. Ooh and I guess that shadow appears because Sakura is already using most of her magical energy to sustain Rider, so that requires the worm to get the energy somewhere else somehow..
Kotomine was right when he told Shirou to leave so he could perform surgery on Sakura to save her (from the attack she used on herself so that she wouldn’t hurt Shirou). All this time, Sakura has been carrying heavy mental burdens being beside Shirou. It was only when she could do simple things like cook with him at his house that she could wish for something like a normal and happy life. Even if it was like a dream, it was a happy dream for her, and she would continue doing that forever if she could. But the truth was, just as being with Shirou brought her an endless amount of happiness, it also brought her pain because she couldn’t help but think that she doesn’t deserve him, especially when she compares herself against others like Saber and Rin. She’s not as strong as Saber and she’s not as fun or witty as Rin, so she feels that she can’t win against them in any area, but regardless, she loves Shirou and wants to be the one with him even if she’s not pure. But at the same time, the fact that she’s not pure (aka a virgin) like the others makes her hesitate, she feels bad that she’s not pure like Shirou, she feels like she can’t stand by him like the others can, she can’t raise her head with pride and fight with them for him, because she doesn’t believe she deserves him, and it’s saddening to think of how terrible of a life she’s had this whole time.
Shirou’s choice between continuing to be a superhero or discarding it to protect Sakura (since as long as she is alive, she will be forced to fight and kill others) is an agonising choice. What Archer said really hit the nail on the head though, all this time, Shirou had lived in order to save as many people as he can, if he chooses to protect Sakura, he’ll be giving up on this belief that makes up what the person “Shirou” is. He’ll be burdened with the fact that he abandoned his belief for one person and will be tormented by that fact for the rest of his life. Not only would his individual guilt destroy him, but the fact that he is abandoning Kiritsugu’s promise would kill him on the inside… But I guess at the same time, Shirou can’t forgive the fact that he was always beside Sakura and yet he knew nothing of the pain she experienced and mentally carried. He was so oblivious to her even though he vowed to be a superhero, he must be thinking about how foolish he was to even dream of being a superhero when all along, he couldn’t even protect one of the closest people to him. And also the fact that he ignored how probable it was that Sakura was involved in all this by believing in Zouken’s words that she wasn’t, just because it was convenient to believe so, since if he doesn’t know, then there’s no reason to fight against her or be wary of her. But now, he’s forced to face the fact that she is Zouken’s puppet and he has to choose what he prioritises most. I didn’t realise how much Illya’s simple gesture of patting Shirou’s head even when he pushed her away (due to the pain of his indecision and regret) could sway me. I legit cried because it was such a touching thing to do for Shirou right now. She knew he was in pain and she knew she couldn’t leave him, all because she wanted to protect him and be his ally since she loves him. It broke my heart to know Illya felt so much for Shirou, she’s such a sweet girl. Illya’s right, huh? If Shirou chooses to persist being a superhero despite sacrificing the people he loves most, he is choosing the same life Kiritsugu followed; one where he threw away all the people he loved to save people he didn’t even know. In the end, regardless of which choice Shirou makes, he will hurt himself. By sacrificing the person he loves now, there is no limit to his sacrifice in the future, because if he has already sacrificed one of the most important people to him now, he won’t allow himself to hesitate to sacrifice anything else that’s precious to him in the future, because that’s the path he’s chosen. And that’s just so terrible, because it really will end up just being that same lonely path Kiritsugu and Archer had walked, a life where you abandon everything and yourself for a dream that is the “right path”… I also find it so saddening that Rin is burdened as the supervisor of this land and it’s people, so she has to harden her heart and kill Sakura to protect them. The Holy Grail War between a Rin and Shirou who have both sacrificed Sakura must be a painful one.
I never realised how much I needed Shirou to choose to protect Sakura instead of persisting in being a superhero until I actually made the choice and went to the Tiger Dojo haha. Although he’s choosing to protect the person he loves, I don’t feel like he’ll be completely abandoning his ideals, because as he said to Sakura before, if she’s doing something bad, he will scold her, and I think in this case, he will with the best of his ability stop her from causing any more harm and he will risk his life to do it, whilst using his life to atone for it if Sakura kills anyone. Ooh, so if Shirou chooses to protect Sakura, Kotomine uses up his Magic Crest (he just used up all the magic that was built up through generations!) to treat Sakura and is able to remove most of the crest worm! I guess he’s really interested in seeing how much suffering Sakura’s existence will cause upon Shirou and Rin lol. Sakura’s loss of magical energy is slowly eroding her sanity?! So that’s where the shadow comes from, huh? She’ll eventually lose all sense of herself due to that loss from the crest worm huh.. You know, with the way things have gone, a lot of people may say it’s cliche, and that even the part where Sakura unleashes all her true feelings and thoughts to Shirou is within reason of what you would expect her to say and him to react to, but I couldn’t help but have my heart crushed by it all. And I think that’s because a lot of it stems from the fact that I’ve read through the other routes. If I didn’t read through the previous two routes, I don’t think Shirou’s dilemma between choosing Sakura and persisting as a superhero would hit me as hard, because if I didn’t see his perseverance and unwavering determination, I wouldn’t truly understand how hard of a decision it was for Shirou to choose Sakura (even if he intends on saving everyone else along with her) because he is carrying the risk that people could die by allowing her to live, and Shirou choosing that shows how much he cares for Sakura and how much he doesn’t want to lose her. For Sakura, this is the first time you ever really get to see her true raw emotions of everything she has felt this whole time, and seeing her cruel past contrasted with how everything was in the beginning, you can really see how the “boring” slice of life parts of her life in each route was really what kept her going this whole time, Shirou gave her hope even if he was oblivious, he gave her happiness in the simplest form she could imagine and hope for, and now seeing Shirou choosing to help keep her simple happiness over everything else really melts my heart because of how much she had suffered all this time by herself. When Shirou said he would be her superhero, it honestly felt bittersweet because it really feels like a very painful compromise of his dream, yet it was also beautiful because it also means that Shirou has finally found something he himself deems to be more important than anything, for once in his life, he’s chosen to be a “normal selfish” person.
It’s kinda cute how awkward they were the morning after they had sex lol. I think the funniest thing was the fact that Rider was there the whole time they were having breakfast hahaha, she didn’t say anything at all so I didn’t notice lol. It’s kinda saddening that Sakura is riddled with competing emotions of not wanting Shirou to be hurt, but also being happy that Shirou is getting hurt for her now since she’s suffered all this time and he was oblivious to her pain. Although she’s leaning more towards being happy that he’s getting hurt for her, I feel like she’s being influenced by the worm and the shadow etc and is being consumed by the darkness into feeling like that. But of course I’m sure it stems from a part of her that feels like that, I just feel like the shadow probably amplifies all those negative emotions. Although I should have expected to see Saber Alter considering what happened to Caster, it was still kinda saddening to see her appear like that. And lol, legit there’s going to a whole army of the Servants as an Alter version with how the mud is consuming them all… Saber Alter looks pretty cool, mainly her armour though, her face looks a bit too…dead? I always hate seeing Archer die😭 Especially when he sacrifices himself to protect Rin. It also seems like he has some sort of regret towards Illya too? Was he not able to save her in other times or something? Anyway, it’s interesting that Archer is able to kinda like “combine” with Shirou and grant him the battle experience etc he had? On the other hand, I really wonder how Shirou is going to react when he realises what the shadow actually is… I find it quite fascinating that they could transplant Archer’s arm to Shirou (since he lost his left arm to the shadow when he protected Illya), and that it doesn’t disappear because now the arm is being supported by Shirou’s magical energy now. Lmao at Illya and Rin arguing about Shirou being their Servant since for Illya, she didn’t kill him the whole time the war was on, and for Rin, Archer gave his arm to Shirou and saved his life so he should take Archer’s place now was pretty funny hahaha. It was hard to pick between the two, but seeing Illya so happy if you pick being “her Servant”, it’s kinda worth it haha.
I’ve never really been interested in Kirei, but it was nice to know that his father called him Kirei because he hoped for him to be beautiful, moralistic and I guess, a good person. And he lived up to those expectations, but never felt anything for doing what he did, so in the end, even though he did “beautiful” things that his father was proud of, he was never really the “beautiful person” he was supposed to be. It’s interesting that he forced himself to continue like that hoping he could understand this beauty through being a priest etc like his father, but I wonder, if Kirei didn’t feel so restrained by being the beautiful person he was supposed to be all his life and instead questioned it when he realised it, would he have turned out the same way? I know he says he finds beauty and interest in other people suffering and all the supposedly “bad” stuff, but I feel like questioning what’s good and bad is a part of life, and I feel like if he actually allowed himself to ponder it more instead of actually doing these “bad things” to see how it affected him, maybe he could have also understood himself better and understood his father’s beliefs better. Now, instead of questioning things, he’s just gone all out to do all the stuff that makes people suffer in order to satisfy himself for all the “happiness” he lacked when he was doing good stuff. I think in a sense, it’s kinda saddening that Kirei never really got the chance to explore himself properly because he was so obsessed about what was so great about doing good imo. I don’t blame Sakura for getting angry at Shirou. It’s like, if it was still before when he wanted to hide the war from Sakura I would understand, but she’s a crucial part to the war now, and it’s obvious that his arm isn’t really his anymore, it’s really disrespectful of him to lie to her that it’s just a bit of an injury, it’ll only make Sakura worry even more and think of herself as even more useless. His kindness will kill her someday honestly lol. I’m glad Shirou reflected on his actions quickly and apologised for prioritising “looking tough” for Sakura rather than her feelings.
Overall, for now, there’s nothing much to say about the fights since they’re really just the shadow eating up everyone lol. As for the emotions though, I’m really liking how Shirou has been dealing with the ups and downs of caring for Sakura and prioritising her. His decision was definitely the highlight of the ten days, but I also really enjoyed seeing how cute and innocent Illya was. Kinda wish she did get her own route haha. Otherwise, things are just building up for now as usual, so nothing much to comment! I’ll still say that although I see why Sakura is the way she is, I honestly still find her a rather lacklustre heroine where I don’t particularly feel anything for her? It’s like, for Saber, I got annoyed sometimes with how stubborn she was, but Shirou was also stubborn so fair enough, and I just really loved Rin because of how cool and great she was etc. But for Sakura, I honestly don’t dislike her or like her because I still feel like she’s more of a trope than a character to me? It feels like she’s there to push Shirou into doing what he needs to do to protect her, but on the other hand, there’s nothing really interesting about her? Maybe that’ll change in the second half though, so we shall see~ Honestly though, I just don’t want to see Rin or Illya die🥺

Okay so I’m like a little bit whiplashed here. Last episode we saw Gilbert just suggesting winnie visit. How have they been communicating? Have they been on that many tea dates? It seems like they only saw each other four or five times after their first “date”. But I guess it’s been two months since then.

No he hasn’t settled on Winnie. Does this mean Bash knows about Anne? She’s “easy to be with” okay I guess it makes sense Gilbert is stressed about constantly feeling things for Anne.
“Fond enough to marry her?” Bash literally slipped that in because Gilbert was talking about marriage last week.
“Winifred doesn’t have such expectations” dude you’re meeting her parents in the 1890s of course she does.

She’s going to confess to Diana isn’t she. This seems like really fast development for Anne who has recently been like I am the Bride of Adventure.

I think it’s interesting and important (because even though I’m sure this episode will be painful) Anne’s crush is very much romanticized and infatuated. While I’m unsure about her realizing her feelings this early, the comparison to Mr. Darcy, the reference to novels seems in character even if the fact it’s Gilbert is sudden.

Couple points on Winnie. She seems to represent the part of Gilbert that was never content with the small town life and now also the part of him that is tired of fighting with Anne. So she really has been boiled down to whether he will choose an easy life with connections but no fire or Anne who makes his life incredibly complicated but extremely lovely.
Also it was interesting that they again paralleled Winnie stumbling with Josie stumbling earlier this season. (Post episode addendum her Mr. Bones scene weirdly foreshadowed Josie’s situation)
I swear Gilbert just visibly hesitated to introduce them to Bash. Also they really are making them out to be the perfect family which rings the alarm bells that either they are not or all they’re meant to do is be a foil for Gilbert’s current life/affections.
Okay it seems really extreme to have Anne call Gilbert her true love. Like I get they are trying to emulate teenagers but Anne is not like this and we already did this with Ruby.
“I want to believe you that it was true that someone could look at me that way. I never even dared to hope before” this hurts so much because we have seen how much Gilbert adores Anne. But also it hurts because Anne has just been able to accept family love and shes been told her whole life no one will ever want her. I’m crying.
But also I think it’s very important that this is a very idealized crush and is definitely emulating teenage fancies and the real realization from Anne will be much different.
I love all the eye/I puns and how this fortune teller goes against herself and decides to comfort Anne because Anne is just endearing like that. I think we’re supposed to simultaneously feel Anne’s pain while also being amused at the melodrama

I know they’re trying to make Winnie seem really nice but it’s strange she asks how Anne spells her name. It’s like it’s meant to add more weight to the visual way in which we see Anne comparing herself to Winnie.
Bash is so amused by the Winifred Anne meeting. I guess it’s also important Gilbert has told Bash about Winnie but still keeps his feelings for Anne a secret (even though they aren’t)
This cake thing bothers me so much. There was no need to take a relatively funny book scene, humiliate Anne in front of a large group of people and add to the already massive embarrassment she feels by having Gilbert and Winifred both be there. This episode just really was out to get Anne
Hmm so I think it’s definitely telling that Gilbert’s automatic instinct was to run after Anne to comfort her and he definitely looks upset when she runs off but I also don’t think he was super helpful. He clearly doesn’t get why she’s upset and also Mary would’ve been more likely to run after Anne and console her. I miss Mary.

It’s beautiful seeing how Matthew and Marilla have grown due to Anne. This balloon ride is like symbolic of their relationship.
Passing over the first part of the dance scene which is clearly just an inverted love triangle from the last episode . .though Gilbert does look over at Anne after the dance ends...he also looks uncomfortable in certain shots with Winnie
I guess also “Seems like you’ve done this before” “I can’t hear you” parallels the first tea scene a bit.
I’m frustrated Ruby is basically the exact same just with a different boy who I guess at least shows interest in her

a run-down of / my thoughts on the novel ‘trade secrets’
so! i’ve recently finished this beautifully written novel by @bettsican, and am anxiously anticipating for the second book in the trilogy! (seriously, give it a read. it’s a great lgbtq+ thriller and mystery story, i promise you’ll love it!! you can find trade secrets in many places, including amazon, where it’s only $6)
as i was reading it, i noted down all the thoughts i had. it was fun, interesting, and kept me on the edge of my seat!

okay so this book was SO good, and so well written. like damn
aside from that horrible ending how could you do this to me
i’m joking, it was an incredible and emotional ending, i loved it and hated it at the same time
it very rarely felt static, and especially in the first half, there was a good mix of action and backstory/description. it was never boring
the story is just,,, so unique. i seriously haven’t read anything like it, EVER
the world-building?? Is?? so vast?? and insane??
the increasing tension and speed as the story progressed is perfect, i felt my heart beating faster the more i read

Between the World and Me: Chapter 1 Notes
Opening quote critiques the way we respond to certain deaths, romanticizing the deaths of these kids who are killed. They are not born to die, their purpose was not supposed to be a “martyr”, their purpose should have been their life, not their death.
Portrays living as different races as living in different worlds, I have a feeling this will be an overarching theme (pg. 1)
America has allowed for their own definitions of what “the people” mean (in terms of politics), because of this they have allowed and excused their own violence (pg. 6)
Naming who “the people” are is based on hierarchy because America is based on hierarchy, why do we assign value to physical traits? (pg. 6-7)
“America believes itself exceptional, the greatest and noblest nation ever to exist” (pg. 8). This is how I view “Trump’s America”, but maybe America has always been this way, and I simply just seeing it now.
“The police departments of your country have been endowed with the authority to destroy your body” (pg. 9) --> clear connections to current day, use of “destruction” over and over again, but America does not deem it as destruction because of what we have determined as “okay”
I find myself forgetting that this is a letter to his son, when I remember it makes me tear up, I cannot imagine living a life where I would have to write a letter like this to my child. I suppose that is the whole point, as much as I want to and as much as I try, I will never be able to understand.
Is the America dream just to be white? (pg. 10)
“That this is your country, that this is your world, that this is your body, and you must ind some way to live within the all of it” (pg 11-12). --> this seems to sum of the black experience living in America. They are coping with a world that rejects them.
“But the black body is the clearest evidence that America is the work of men” (pg 12).
I am reading this book in a cafe, I have started to cry as this subject material is very sad and very necessary. I keep having to put the book down as I read to take a breath. But I noticed that as soon as I began to cry, I reached for my phone to tell my friends “omg I am literally crying in this coffee shop right now”... what does that say about me? I am trying to turn this pain into my own when it is none of the such. I’m embarrassed that this was my initial reaction and embarrassed to be typing this.
I am thinking about the mold black kids are meant to fall into. I am thinking about a boy at my school, he is black and he has gotten himself into a lot of trouble with the law throughout the past year. But, the past few months (after an expulsion) he seriously turned his life around. But, for him that also meant taking the twists out of his hair, changing his style, changing the way he speaks. I wonder how much of that is from internalized racism? or from what the school has projected onto him as being the “ideal student”? (pg 14).
How much of black culture in America is built out of fear? (pg 14-15)
I imagine the parents beating their children out of fear, they want their kids to be harsh in order to survive, but at the same time they don’t. Do they want to take away their blackness? (pg 15)
“Then she beat your grandmother terrifically, one last time, so that she might remember how easily she could lose her body” (pg 16.) --> This quote really affected me, it seems to perfectly encapsulate the idea of fear manifesting in violence, but the violence doesn't have bad intentions. She was trying to help.
“Either I can beat him, or the police” (pg 16).
Is this beating a shared experience for all black kids? Even now? Why are these kids continuing to put themselves into dangerous situations after being beat for it? Or is that too easy of an assumption to make? (pg 17)
Laws are made for “the people”, which has never included black kids. (pg 17)
I will never know what it is like to be a young black kid reading of police brutality, I cannot begin to imagine. I wish I could share their understanding in order to empathize, but I can’t. (pg 19)
“cosmic injustice” and “profound cruelty” (pg 21) used to describe violence toward black bodies, I think those definitions will be the closest I can come to understanding.
“And that cut me because, for all our differing worlds, at your age my feeling was exactly the same” (pg 21). As much as the world has changed, ex. it is significantly more acceptable to wear natural black hairstyles, not to say that it is fully accepted/gone without judgement in any way, the systems have stayed the same. Black men and women and children are still left with the same unfairness.
“I recall learning these laws clearer than I recall learning my colors and shapes, because these laws were essential to the security of my body” (24). I think this is a really good example of how white privilege works. I have never had to worry about the security of my body.
the “need for escape” seems to be why kids are turning to the streets, it is partially because that is where they are told to go, partially because that is how they escape?
“The world had no time for the childhoods of black and boys and girls” (25). These black kids are forced to learn two lives, both of which are necessary for their survival, the streets are their now, school is their later, Imagine how exhausting that must be, and how stressful it is to quite literally have your life on the line.
School is made for a certain, white, student. It takes that student and turns them into a uniformed student. They do not learn, they do not grow, them memorize and their curiosity is taken away from them. (26)
He felt like he had two options, the streets or school. But did not fit either mold, he was too “soft” for the streets and too curious for school. (27)
I had always thought that these kids were born into a world too hard to escape, but didn’t necessarily understand that they tried, but it doesn’t matter when the world isn’t built for you. (28)

“the month could not pass without a series of films dedicated to the glories of being beaten on camera” (32). Reminds me of modern day police brutality and the videos that are shared. Is showing that graphic footage actually helpful or does it act as “trauma porn” to certain viewers?
“Why were only our heroes nonviolent? I speak not of the morality of nonviolence, but of the sense that black are in especial need of this morality” (32). Education seems to have this failing view that violence is bad. You cannot always declare violence as bad, especially when the people writing that history are probably white men. This land is acquired “through murder and tamed it under slavery” (32), and now you are going to preach of nonviolence?
Talking about intentions of individual educators, reminds me of certain arguments about “ACAB”, intentions of the individual are essentially bullshit. They don’t matter. It is the systems that need changing. But what does that really mean? We seem to throw around that idea without really knowing. How should education become more inclusive, how can ALL educators practice this? How can a police force be a positive thing when it was originally made as slave capturers? (33).
Definition of politically conscious: “as much a series of actions as a state of being, a constant questioning, questioning as ritual, questioning as exploration rather than the search for certainty” (34). Also connects back to arguments of rhetoric!
Knowledge brings hope, or opposite (34)

THIS is what Malcom X represents, not just unruly violence, that is what I was taught in school. (34-36)
“it was human for the enslaved to hate the enslaver” (36) --> connection to modern day, looting/violence from protesters was criticized but you cannot understand what they have gone to, and why their actions do appear justified
“White America is a syndicate arrayed to protect its exclusive power to dominate and control our bodies” (42). How is this moved past? How do I, as a white person, contribute to this?
I don’t necessarily understand the distinction he seems to be making about being black/ having a black body (pg 44)
He turned to literature for answers on black history, but found differencing opinions are more questions instead. (47-48)
“bound by my ignorance” (48). This is often how I find myself feeling, even while reading this book.

Story of the woman eating with her hands reminded me of going to lunch with Apurva and Alex, she felt the need to ask us if it was okay for her to eat with her hands. She said she hadn’t done it with any of her other friends, but because of my and Alex’s perspectives and us going to the temple, she felt more comfortable. It still made me sad that she felt she had to ask, and even as she did it I remember watching her eat. Embarrassment of ignorance. (57)
“... ranged between women and men, asserted this not just with pride but as though it were normal, as though she were normal...” (58)
“But I was from a place -America- where cruelty toward humans who loved as their deepest instincts instructed was a kind of law” (58) !!!!!!!!!!! Wow, what a way to think about this.
“Hate gives identity” (60).... how exposure changed a person.... I identify as a bisexual woman.
The way he talks about love on pages 60 and 61 really resonated with me. But I think it is more of a for-me thought than a class thought.
“And I could no longer predict where I would find my heroes” (61) this is something I also find myself learning more and more. The people around me have changed so much, this seems to be the purpose of him telling these stories of different men and women.
You control what you can, find comfort in that. (62)
“It was beginning to come together- even if I could not yet see what the ‘it’ was” (63). How this is so much of what I feel, always.
Black women have “a knowledge of cosmic injustices” and I enjoy that he is able to recognize the different struggles black women will face compared to black men. (65)
The way he talks about his child is not something I have ever heard before, I cannot tell if I find it beautiful or confusing. “you were our ring” “we’d summoned you out of ourselves” “you were the God I’d never had” (67) is this too much for a child ? (66-67)
Perhaps the main theme of the letter: “There was more out there than I had ever hoped for, and I wanted you to have it. I wanted you to know that the world in its entirety could never be found in the schools, alone, nor on the streets, alone, nor in the trophy case.” (68). What a beautiful message and interpretation of his own curiosity, he definitely did not lose it as a child, as many do.
“’Slavery’ is this same woman born in a world that loudly proclaims its love of freedom and inscribes this love in its essential texts, a world in which these same professors hold this woman, a slave, hold her mother a slave, her father a slave, her daughter a slave, and when this woman peers back into the generations all she sees is the enslaved” (70). Relating back to beginning of the letter, there are the people, and slaves do not fit into that group.
“you are a black boy, and you must be responsible for your body in a way that other boys cannot know” (71) --> this seems to be what he is trying to tell his son.
“You have to make peace with the chaos, but you cannot lie. You cannot forget how much they took from us, and how they transfigured our very bodies into sugar, tobacco, cotton, and gold” (71). This is the line he chooses to end his letter, reminding his son of what his body was.

A/N: Heyyyyy, guyssssss. I’m so sorry for not updating for so long T_T School has been hectic with exams and I have soooo many things to do this August but I hope I can still find the time to post something every once in a while (like right now!). He's really diligent in his studies
Which was one of the reasons why he was elected as class president in the first place
Is a very disciplined and strict person
And has one of the best work ethics in class
The type of student who stayed late at school until he finished his work then play at home

The teachers love him bc he does all the scoldings in class for them

This kid likes to spend his break in the music room, composing and playing music
People don’t really know about his passion for music and that’s how he preferred it to be
One of the reasons was bc his parents never really approved of his dream to become a musician
If they ever found out, Jihoon’s afraid that he will never be able to play music anymore
So he decided to keep it a secret from everyone

Sometimes you wonder why you never see him in the cafeteria
One day you’re on your way to the cafeteria for lunch and you happen to pass the music room when you heard one of the most beautiful pieces you’ve ever heard??
And you wondered who it was so you went to check
And imagine your surprise when you found out that it was Jihoon
And imagine his surprise when he saw you
You’re both were kinda speechless as you looked at each other
You because you really did not expect Grumps Jihoon to be able to play a piano so elegantly like that
Him because oh my god, should he gO?
It was really awkward and embarrassing for you to be alone together like that in the music room despite you being seatmates in class
And it felt like you stumbled upon something you weren’t meant to see
But you’re really curious and really enchanted so you’re like
“Can I...hear you play??”
And Jihoon wanted to reject your request bc he’s so embarrassed and shy and you’re looking at him like that but he’s also like Y/N wants to hear me play!!! This is my chance!!!
So he tried to play it cool and he was like “Sure” and scooted a bit on the bench so you can sit next to him real smooth Jihoon
You’re kind of blushing bc you’re sitting so close to each other
Jihoon started to play the piano and it’s just entrancing and beautiful and you wonder how someone would hide something that’s so amazing
The song ended and you remembered something you saw on the school bulletin board and you’re like “Why don’t you go for the upcoming piano competiton!!”
Jihoon saw the look in your eyes when you said it and they were full of hope and he almost said no
Bc he saw it, but he knew he couldn’t because his parents wouldn’t support his passion
“Y/N.. I can't.. My parents..” he started
“Jihoon, your parents might be wrong. If you do something with enough passion, I know you can make it. I know you will. You always do.”
And you said it with so much conviction that you believing in him made him believe himself, too
Also you’re looking at him like that and he couldn’t say no
And just like that, Jihoon finally agreed to take his passion one step further
It was from then on that you started accompanying him when he’s practising in the music room during lunch
You started bringing him food on some days after you noticed that you’ve never saw him eat
At first, he would reject the lunchbox that you made him bc he felt so bad for burdening you
But then he saw the disappointment in your eyes when he did and he’d be damned if he ever make you feel sad so he’s like fine
And nothing makes you happier than when you see him literally devoured the food you made especially for him
lmao tbh he was hungrier than he let on
It also makes you happy, too, when he started opening up to you as you both grew closer
Sometimes you both would play around and sing along to any song he plays on the piano
And you know that feeling when you can just feel how happy you both are in each other’s company? Yeah, you feel that with him
It feels different with him; just the two of you in each other’s company, away from the prying world
It’s like a little secret you both have
Your friends started to notice your disappearance and were asking where you’ve been gone to during lunch
But you know you’d promised Jihoon not to tell anyone
So you’re like lmaoo where I’ve been?? hahah *sweats nervously*
But at that moment Jihoon was passing and your eyes met and you couldn’t help but smile a bit and send him a small wave and your friends went OH MY GODDDD LEE JIHOON?! OUT OF ALL PEOPLE???
“What?? I don’t have a crush on him!”
Yeah you do, you just don’t realize
“Really?? Bc it seems to us that he does.”
“Don’t you notice how he acts around you?”
And suddenly it made sense
The way he acts around you, how he’s so sweet yet nervous around you
You finally get it
And what a realization it was bc you might have a crush on him too????
Just thinking about it gave you the butterflies lol
You find the fact that he might only be soft only for you is kinda hot??
oh wow what a tsundere
So you start to skim the surface and test the waters, y’know
You start making him even nicer lunch boxes with heart shapes made of seaweed aaaa
And leaving him chocolates and other snacks under his desk bc you’re aware of how he loves to snack while composing
Going on convenience store errands for him when he craves for food/drinks when he’s staying longer at school
Honestly you’ve become kind of a helper to him now but you don’t mind bc he doesn’t really have anyone but you
And he’s aware of your own business and life but the fact that you’re so willing to accompany him makes him fall for you appreciate what you do even more
Time seems to pass a lot faster now since you started hanging out with Jihoon and before you know it, it’s the day of the recital
You went a little earlier bc you wanted to surprise Jihoon with flowers bc why not
And he’s like lmao why are you giving me flowers?
“Why shouldn’t I? It’s given since it’s your first piano recital!”
He couldn’t help but blush bc wow what did he ever do to deserve such an amazing person
It’s obvious that the guy is nervous as heck so you squeezed his shoulder a bit as a reassurance
“You’re gonna do fine! I only worry about the others because they don’t know they’re gonna get wrecked.”
Have he ever told you how much your support meant to him?
Bc once again, the sheer faith you have in him made him believe he could do anything

But you watched as his parents gave Jihoon a smile, his father patted him on his shoulder and Jihoon smiling and bowing and looking perfectly happy and grateful and you thought everything’s gonna be fine
When you see him finally walking away from his parents, you set your way towards him
He did the same and while you did expect the hug from how he threw open his arms as you both met in the middle, you definitely did not see the kiss coming
And the only thing you could think of as his lips descended on yours was wow he’s getting bOLD
And boi is he passionate
And you're aware of the people watching you two and hoped his parents aren’t watching omg
But with Jihoon’s soft lips on yours, you couldn't care less
At that moment you want to let the world knows
You both were breathless when you finally broke it off and he’s like wOW
And you’re like, yeah wow is right
You still have your hands clasped on his neck, his arms on your waist as you stare into each other’s eyes
“You ok??” you ask, breathless
He grinned,”More than ok. Everything finally fell into place, all thanks to you.”
You blushed,”It’s all you, Jihoon. It’s all you.”
And he flashed you one of those radiant grins, his eyes crinkling around the edges, his dimples showing and you can feel you heart melts
And to him, everything’s perfect, bc you’re here, and whenever you’re beside him, he knows everything will be alright
“So what’s next?” you finally ask
“Next..I’m going to pursue another dream of mine.”
“And what’s that?”
And his dark eyes bored into yours and he smiled
“You.”

The Misadventures of Prince Kim - chapter 47
I wrote this one like two weeks ago omg, anyway I know I said I was updating on Sundays but I bet I’m gonna forget tomorrow, considering the new episode, so I’ll change it to “updating at some point on the weekends”. Anyway, have a chapter that’s somehow angsty and cracky at the same time
Also on AO3 as always, where you can read this sprawling 170k+ word count monster of a fic from the beginning
Alix had never before been so grateful that Max was one of the calmest, most logical people she had ever met. She was sure that he must be freaking out too – an assassination attempt was not something to be taken lightly – but at least he was a lot better at outwardly hiding it than she was. But then again, he didn’t have to deal with his brain constantly reminding him of the image of his own best friend dying horribly right in his arms, so of course it was easier for him.
Anyway, she had to get her mind off that somehow. Time to solve this mystery.
First they went back to her room to get the snake, just to keep a close eye on it as always, and then they took the chocolates over to the school authorities in the office near Duke Damocles’s tower. It was late at night by now and students were really not supposed to be wandering around the corridors, but luckily they did not run into anyone.
The school authorities did not seem to take the matter very seriously. They took the chocolates and smiled rather unconvincingly, telling Alix and Max to just go back to sleep and they would sort it all out in the morning. Then they shut the door and locked it.
“I’m not waiting till morning,” Alix said immediately, thinking about how much of a difference even a few minutes could make when it came to life or death situations. “And I don’t trust these authorities, they don’t really seem to care. What should we do now? Do we tell Kim?”
Max was silent for a few seconds, thinking. “I suggest we go talk to Alya. She’ll know what to do.”
That was a good idea. Alya’s spy ring was not much of a secret among the royals, despite the fact that ordinarily spy rings were meant to be kept hidden. The simple fact was that Alya’s reputation as spymaster was usually enough to strike fear into the hearts of anyone up to mischief, and so there was hardly any need for secrecy. And plus, no one actually knew the identities of most of her agents, so the main bulk of the spy network was left intact. She really knew what she was doing.
They went back to the dorms and knocked on Alya’s door. When she opened it she had her pyjamas on and her hair in a silk scarf, rubbing her eyes sleepily.
“I’m guessing if you’re waking me up this late there’s an emergency, and it better not be anything to do with Adrien being in danger yet again,” she muttered.
“Not Adrien who’s in danger,” Max said. “Someone else.”
“Alright, well come in and tell me about it. I’ll see what I can do.”
They entered her room and she shut the door behind them, and Max immediately launched into an explanation of everything that was much more coherent than Alix probably would have managed. Seriously, how was he so logical? Even when his own best friend was in such imminent danger? Wait – not just best friend. Sweetheart, too.
“Poisoned chocolates,” Alya mused, tapping her chin in thought. “Sent to Kim anonymously. I do indeed have some suspicions, but nothing definite. I’ll go start up an investigation and do everything I can – meanwhile you just sit tight and wait. I’ll let you know as soon as I’ve discovered anything. If it’s safe to do so, that is. I don’t know how long things will take so you can try going to sleep if you want.”
She pulled on a cloak and left through the door, picking up a little notebook from the table as she did so.
“I’m not going to sleep, no way,” Alix said. She knew perfectly well what would happen if she went to sleep right now, when the other timeline – the Poisoned Chocolates Timeline – was in such turmoil. It was hard enough to get the image of Max dying out of her head even while awake. Sleep would be nothing but nightmare after nightmare, for sure.
“I would prefer not to sleep for now either,” Max said. He sat down on the floor against the side of the bed, his knees curled up to his chest, finally starting to look as stressed as he must feel.
“I need some distraction,” she said, sitting down beside him.
“What kind of distraction?”
“Literally anything. Just talk to me about something. Stupid stuff. Happy things. Or funny things. I don’t care, just get my mind off those stupid chocolates.”
More like get her mind off all these stupid deaths. First she’d had to deal with seeing her snake beheaded, then suffer the pain of a nasty death by snake bite, and now witnessing Max die too? Part of her wished beyond reason that she never had these timeline powers in the first place. They were only making her unhappy. But then again, if she didn’t have these powers then she wouldn’t have been able to warn Max about the chocolates, and he would have died this time too…
“What should I talk about?” he said, his voice weak and tired. He had taken off that little heart brooch from Kim and was looking at it fondly. Those two really liked each other a lot, didn’t they?
“How such a smart, logical person like you could have been so dumb about your ridiculous crush on Kim for several months,” she suggested, smiling a little. Max began smiling too, looking embarrassed.
“I just didn’t think he would like me back…”
“Yeah, I know, you kept saying that. It was so annoying.”
“Yes, it must have been…” Some thought must have occurred to him, since his whole demeanour suddenly changed. He looked down at the floor and said, in a rather fake-casual voice, “By the way, um… you said you wanted me to talk to you about ‘stupid stuff’ well, I uh, had a bit of a question actually, I’ve been meaning to ask for a while…”
“No, I’m not telling you what happened in the lift, and it wasn’t even very stupid. It was cool.”
“Oh, it’s not that! I just… um…” He was fiddling nervously with the brooch. “From, um, a scientific point of view, because I’m curious, I was just wondering… well… everyone knows what happened at the winter party, and based on things you’ve said happened in other timelines, I wanted to ask… alright this is sounding a little stupider than intended but… do you have any tips? For kissing Kim?”
For a few seconds she just stared at him in disbelief. Whatever she had been expecting him to say, it wasn’t that.
“For science!” Max said quickly.
Science. Uh-huh. Sure.
She couldn’t help it. She burst into laughter.
“I wasn’t joking!” Max said, giving her a rather sharp poke in the arm. “If I’m going to be a good ruler then I need to have knowledge in a vast area of subjects, including romance, so…”
“It’s really not that hard,” she said, still laughing a little. Some stupid humour was indeed a very welcome distraction from traumatizing deaths. “It’s not like I knew what I was doing either, I mean, you just gotta like try to forget how gross it is and make sure you breathe, ‘cause that idiot has the best lung capacity and doesn’t need to so you better not die, and if you don’t tilt your head then your nose will get in the way and it’ll be hilarious, and he’s pretty tall so maybe stand on something…”
“I know all this already,” Max huffed. “I’ve already kissed him twice actually, and I’ll have you know that I have indeed studied the art of kissing, so I know plenty of this…”
“You’ve studied the art of–”
“For scientific purposes!” he said hastily. “For science. Of course.”
“Of course.”
“Shush. Anyway, I didn’t want generic tips. I want tips specific to Kim. What does he like? Considering how much he hates admitting that people are better than him, yet in both this timeline and others you seem to have apparently proven yourself a better kisser, you must have done something right.”
She shrugged. “Dude, Kim already likes you loads. I don’t think he really cares if you’re good at kissing or not. Just do what you want.”
“I suppose… if he survives all this assassination drama, that is… otherwise it’ll all be irrelevant anyway…”
The seriousness of the situation hit her again, like a tidal wave. But no – she didn’t want to think about it! Anything but those poisoned chocolates, the very real possibility that her friends were close to death.
“Fine, I’ll help you,” she sighed, trying not to laugh again when saw how Max’s face lit up. He was as much of a dork as Kim was, honestly. “But for the record, I’ll just warn you that kissing is totally disgusting and I don’t get how people enjoy it.”
“I think that’s just you.”
“Yeah…”
She thought back to the other timelines, carefully avoiding recent chocolate-related events, and went straight for those cursed spring holidays. Well… part of them, anyway. Thinking about them too much was definitely going to have her throwing up again, and her mood was already bad enough as it was.
“You already know what a hopeless romantic he is,” she said, “which honestly makes you a way better match for him than me, like seriously what was he thinking. Anyway, the point is that if you be really cheesy and sappy and like… I don’t know, whisper lovey-dovey stuff in his ear or whatever, he’s gonna melt. Just be really romantic.”
Max quickly stood up to grab a piece of paper and pencil off Alya’s desk, then sat back down and started writing. “Be… really… romantic…”
“Are you seriously making notes?”
“I told you, this is all purely for scientific research,” he said, still writing.
“Wow, I can’t wait for you to tell Kim that when you’re making out with him. ‘Hey Kim, isn’t this scientific research fun?’ So very romantic of you. He’ll love it.”
“Just keep going!”
“Alright…”
Trying not to gag, she carried on looking through the timelines. It was a mess. Hopefully Kim and Max’s relationship wouldn’t end up such a superficial, colossal trainwreck.
“Like I said, he has the best lung capacity,” she continued, “so he’s not very good at uh… stopping. Because he forgets that other people need to actually breathe. So don’t be afraid to just shove him away and go do something else because you’re bored or grossed out or whatever. Though I expect that won’t be a problem for you.”
“I shall practise holding my breath,” Max muttered as he continued to write.
“You’re really taking all this that seriously?”
“Yes!”
Wow… people really surprised her sometimes. All her life she had known that romance was something considered very important, yet she still often found it hard to believe that it wasn’t just some conspiracy that everyone was in on. Surely people didn’t genuinely care about it that much? But clearly Max did, and she knew that Kim did too, and so did everyone else…
She reminded herself firmly of the article in the science journal, and that being aromantic was a real thing, and that it wasn’t just her alone in the universe like this, and then she forced her bitterness out of her mind to carry on helping Max. Now was not the time to be grumpy. Especially considering everything else that was going on.
“I don’t even know why you would do this in the first place,” she said, “but if you even attempt to do that gross French-kiss thing with the tongue then he will go and get a pair of scissors and chop it off so you can never do that again. Because he actually does agree with me that tongues are gross. Though he disagrees about the teeth. Apparently those are okay for some reason.”
Max nodded, then jotted that down on the piece of paper. He really was taking this absurdly seriously. It was almost funny, really. At least she knew for certain that he loved Kim a hell of a lot.
“And I’m pretty sure he has a secret weakness for neck kisses, so uh, do that thing.”
“Doesn’t everyone?” Max asked, finally looking up.
“Man I don’t know, I’m the complete wrong person to be asking.”
He chuckled. “Oh yes, true… you have been making your distaste very clear so far…”
“Good. Hmm, what else… well he likes pillows, so he will definitely cheat on you with his imaginary pillow sweetheart. But you knew that. And he absolutely has a thing for sports bras, which you probably knew too, though I guess that might be irrelevant in your case. Who knows if it works with guys. If you’re a girl then it’s a definite shortcut to him wanting to make out with you though, that’s for sure.”
“Are you sure it was the sports bra’s fault? Are you sure it wasn’t just you?”
“Um, trust me. It was definitely the bra.”
“How do you know?”
“I just do. I’m not telling you because it’s weird. So stop being nosy.”
Max grinned. “There’s a lot you haven’t told me…”
“Yeah, because it’s weird, and I don’t want to have to think about it or I’m gonna vomit. Anyway, I’ve had enough timeline digging for today, you can figure out everything else yourself. And I’m pretty sure Kim likes you for different reasons than he liked me, so maybe everything I’ve said might be irrelevant.”
“Thank you anyway,” Max said, folding up the piece of paper and slipping it into his pocket.
At that moment the door opened and Alya came back into the room, dragging a sleepy-looking Kim in with her. She quickly shut the door behind them.
“I’ve found out some information, and also woken up Kim and explained everything, since I doubt either of you would want to have to go through that again,” she said, so fast, bringing the mood back down to how low it had been before.
Kim went and sat down on the other side of Max, giving them all a shaky smile. “This is a pretty weird thing to wake up to, isn’t it… that I’m so cool I’ve got actual assassins after me, how rad is that…”
“It won’t be so rad if they actually succeed,” Alya said, sitting on the desk chair and looking down at the three of them. “Anyway, I haven’t yet found out who did it. All I have been able to discover so far is that the school authorities have quietly disposed of the chocolates without testing them, which most likely suggests that they already knew about the assassination plot and were told to ignore it – either because they planned it, were part of it, or are allied with whoever planned it. So the culprit is probably someone from the Bourgeois Empire or one of its numerous allies. Of course, Bourgeois isn’t officially allied with Agreste until they manage to track Adrien down, but according to Chloé, Bourgeois will do anything to provide Agreste with assistance, which could involve aiding an assassination. But none of this is certain.”
That was a lot to take in at once. Alya scribbled something in her little notebook.
“I’ll carry on my investigations and try to find out who is behind this and how to stop them,” she continued. “It might take a while. In the meantime, I’ll find a way to keep you safe Kim, don’t worry. My kingdom is like this all the time, I’m used to it. Dodging assassination plots is my business. Just carry on as normal, and don’t act like anything is different. Don’t mention the poisoned chocolates to anyone.”
“I’ll try,” Kim said.
“Good. You’ll be alright. And Max, I’m glad you’re okay too. As for Alix, well… you’re going to hate me for this, but I have a difficult job for you to do. I know looking into the other timeline is the last thing you want to do right now, but if you can manage it, it might help us somehow. The death of a royalty student, and especially not the one the authorities were expecting, is high treason and would certainly be thoroughly investigated, and they might be able to find out who was responsible quicker and more accurately than I can. So if you can find out from the other timeline who the assassin is and why they did it, that can help us catch them here as quick as possible with minimal suspicion. Is that okay?”
Alix just nodded, feeling her heart sinking at the prospect of having to look at what was going on in that timeline right now. A timeline where the reality was that Max was dead, and there was nothing she could do about it. It was hard enough to not cry again when blocking out the timeline, so how was she supposed to cope when deliberately looking at it?
“I suggest you all go get some sleep now,” Alya said. “I know that seems impossible, but just try. I know what it’s like to be in danger. You’ll get through this. Now goodnight.”
“Can’t we have a sleepover?” Kim asked.
“Do you really think there’s space in here for that?”
Memories of the Imperial Prince Adrien Protection Squad suddenly flooded back into Alix’s head. “Yeah, there’s space for that,” she said.
“No there isn’t. Alix, you have a monarch-size room complete with a balcony. Us princes and princesses don’t get that.”
She looked around, realizing that it was true – Alya’s room was smaller than her own, and she had never even really noticed.
“Anyway, things will seem a little better in the morning,” Alya said. “Just get some sleep. It’ll be sorted out soon, I promise. Spymaster Alya can sort out anything.”
Alya sounded so confident, so sure of herself. Maybe she was just acting the part to get everyone to stop worrying. But it did somewhat work.
“Fine,” Alix said, standing up. “Goodnight.”
Part of her wanted to go and hug Max again, just to remind herself that he was indeed okay, that he was alive and well, that he hadn’t eaten those chocolates. But if she did then she was afraid that she would never want to let go, and everything would be overwhelming again. She just couldn’t go through that again. The feeling of having someone she cared about killed.
So instead she just waved and left the room, trudging back to her own one and trying not to imagine some cold-blooded assassin waiting in the shadows, out to get her friends. There was someone in this very building who was planning a murder at this very moment. It made her blood boil with rage.
Whoever they were, she was not going to let them get away with this.
Kim was up early the next morning. To be fair, he really hadn’t slept very much at all. After going back to his own room last night he had lain awake for hours, his mind spinning. Did someone really want to kill him? And who would be cruel enough to do it with chocolates, of all food?
The part that scared him most, though, was that somewhere in another timeline, Max had paid for it with his life. His poor, precious, sweet Max, an innocent victim. Gone forever. It sent shivers down his spine to think of losing him, made him tear up, made him want to punch a wall, all sorts of weird and terrifying emotions that he barely knew how to handle. He wanted to be worried for himself, like he knew he should be considering that someone was trying to kill him, but all he could even think about was Max.
That Max really had died, somewhere out there, and the only reason he didn’t here was down to luck alone. One tiny moth was the difference between him living and dying.
So it was really no wonder that Kim had barely got any sleep that night, considering he had just been hugging a pillow and trying to stave off the tears as best as he could. He was afraid, he was stressed, he just didn’t know what to do. How on earth was he supposed to act totally normal in the morning, as if nothing was wrong at all? How could he do that when all he wanted to do was hold Max in his arms and protect him from harm until the end of time?
Before breakfast that morning, they all met up in Alya’s room again. It was mostly by accident – clearly they all wanted to check up with her about whether her investigations had uncovered anything else, and what were they supposed to do now.
“I looked in the other timeline and found out some stuff,” Alix said, looking and sounding grumpier than Kim had ever seen her, which really was saying something. “Because of… what happened to Max… the police forces from the International Alliance got involved and worked through the night. They found out who did it and managed to track him down and arrest him. Some dude who claimed to be working for the Agreste Empire, I think his name was Theo or something. I’m not entirely sure, since the version of me from that timeline is really not in the mood for doing anything except maybe committing a few murders herself.”
“Theo?!” Alya leapt to her feet. “Are you sure?”
“I literally just said that no, I’m not sure.”
“Theo… Theo…” Alya began pacing around the room. “Surely it can’t be him. Surely not. He used to work for me, quite a while ago. But then he did take up another job… but I thought he was working for the school, not an undercover assassin from Agreste… Would he really commit a murder? Well yes, he really would… and if he’s working for the Agreste Empire, then… that could only mean…”
She stopped abruptly and looked up at the others, her face determined.
“I think I know what’s going on. You see, if Kim dies and the evidence points towards the Agreste Empire, Lê Chiến would almost certainly declare war on them, which is exactly what Emperor Gabriel would want, so he can use the unfounded accusation as an excuse to take more land without being so condemned by the other countries. In fact, Lê Chiến is already fairly weak – the previous king died in mysterious circumstances, an elderly regent is currently ruling, and they’re enemies with the most powerful empire in the world. Kim is the only thing holding the country together, and he can’t even go back there right now. If Kim dies, Agreste can attack. And that’s exactly what they want.”
None of it felt real. Here they were, a bunch of teenaged royalty, in a dorm room chatting about death, murder, global wars. Kim felt like he was going to have a heart attack every time someone mentioned him “dying”. It was so different to this time yesterday, when everything had been so blissful and perfect. How could it all have changed so fast? Did Adrien’s father really want him dead?
“Of course, since the authorities threw away the chocolates, there’s no evidence of the crimes in this timeline,” Alya said, “and I doubt Alix’s timeline powers would be enough to go upon. No one from the Bourgeois Empire would be willing to help incriminate someone from Agreste, except Chloé probably. Theo – if he really is the assassin, which seems likely – is still roaming free as a supposed school guard, and probably still trying to kill Kim. We have to find a way to stop him without raising suspicion.”
“Can I fight him?” Alix asked, completely deadpan.
“I was thinking more like hiring him as a double agent actually. I’ve worked with him before, I know him better than anyone from Agreste does. Anyway, the most important thing for now is finding a permanent solution to the question of how to keep Kim safe. We need a way for Emperor Gabriel to not think it worth it to kill him and start a war. And I’m thinking that the best way to do that is to get Lê Chiến into the International Alliance, or at least ally officially with the countries in charge of it, which would deter Emperor Gabriel from causing a war, as it would result in much deeper backlash for him.”
“Sounds like a good plan,” Max spoke up suddenly. “But how would that be possible? Kim hasn’t been crowned yet so he doesn’t have the authority to do such a thing, and his grandmother the regent is definitely not about to leave the country in order to organize it. In fact, there’s barely any way to get communications in and out of Lê Chiến, let alone people.”
“Messenger pigeon,” Alya said. “We get Kim to call Cheng, they send a pigeon to his grandma, she sends an official form giving him permission to be in charge of allies and possible entry into the International Alliance. And then you take him to Alix’s kingdom in the holidays, since they founded the International Alliance in the first place, and while he’s there he can negotiate alliances and get himself and his country some protection.”
Kim’s head was spinning again. This was all so much to take in. He wasn’t good at this politics business, he had no idea what he was doing, he couldn’t understand how any of this would stop someone halfway across the world from sending poisoned chocolates after him. He could barely understand why someone who he had never even personally met wanted him dead anyway. How could someone just be like that? Kill without a second thought? As if someone’s life just meant nothing?
He felt something on his shoulder and jumped a little, only to see that it was Max resting his hand there and looking up at him, concerned.
“Kim, are you alright with all that?”
Kim gulped and nodded. “Um… yeah. I have to get my grandmother to let me make alliances and stuff. And then stay with Alix for the holidays. And somehow try and single-handedly get my country into the International Alliance – all without being assassinated…”
It really was all starting to weigh on him now. How was he supposed to do this? He had no idea what he was doing. Barely a prince, nowhere near skilled enough to be a king, the worst possible person for being put in charge of the fate of a country – the fate of so many innocent people if war ever really did break out! This wasn’t just about his own life, this was about everyone’s life. So much overwhelming pressure… how could he even begin to do this?
“You don’t have to do it single-handedly,” Max said, his voice gentle and soothing. “We’ll be there to help you. I’ll come with you. It’ll be alright.”
Oh… that calming influence. Thank goodness for Max.
“In the meantime, I won’t let you get assassinated,” Alya said. “I have my ways. It’s better if you don’t know all the details, but trust me. You’re not going to die any time soon.”
“I’ll kickstart the alliance discussions back home if you want,” Alix said. “I can call Jalil and tell him to start getting the forms and meetings and stuff ready so that it’ll be quicker by the time we get there. Oh, and I have a venomous pet snake, so if anyone tries to hurt you then I will kill them.”
“Um, maybe don’t kill them,” Kim said.
“Okay, I will scare them away. Is that better?”
He nodded. His friends were all so brave – willing to get involved in this political mess, just for him. Going to such lengths to protect him. It almost made him want to cry.
“Anyway, we’d better go to breakfast,” Alya said, looking at the clock on her wall. “And remember, just act normal. Don’t speak about this to anyone. You never know who’s listening in. Now come on.”
She put on her glasses – had she not been wearing them before? Kim hadn’t even noticed – and went out of the door. Alix quickly followed.
Kim took a deep breath, trying to return his brain to whatever its “normal” state was. At this point he didn’t even know. Right now it didn’t feel like life could ever go back to normal again, not really. Everything was different now. He had to actually step up and be a proper prince now. He wasn’t just Kim anymore, some foolish royal kid. He was Prince Kim, heir to the throne.
“Are you alright?” Max asked him. What an impossible question to answer.
“I guess,” Kim replied, once the silence had gone on too long to bear. “Are you?”
“Well I didn’t eat any poisoned chocolates, so I suppose I’m doing fine.”
Those poisoned chocolates… oh, poor Max…
“I’m really glad you’re safe,” Kim managed to say. How was he supposed to cope the whole day if he could barely even talk to Max without feeling too overwhelmed to function?
“I’m glad you’re safe, too.”
Aware that Max’s hand was still on his shoulder, Kim reminded himself what “normal” had been for him at this time of day yesterday. Normal had been swooning over Max, his new sweetheart, showing him off for all the world to see. Normal had been laughing with his friends, not a care in the world. At least some of that could be brought back. It would be a start.
He took Max’s hand in his own and gently kissed the tips of his fingers, feeling a comforting, familiar rush of adrenaline as he did so. Max was always the one constant he could rely on in this ever-changing world, the one person who made him feel at home.
“I don’t know what I’d do without you,” he mumbled, willing himself not to cry. “You just… you… you’re…”
Max pressed his hand to Kim’s lips. “Shh. I know. I’m amazing.”
Kim couldn’t help but smile at that. “You really are.”
“And so are you, which is why all of us will always be here to help you out. Things will be okay.”
Things will be okay. It was hard to believe, but Max saying it made it sound much more real. If Max believed it, it must be true. Everything would turn out fine in the end.
“You’re a good prince,” Max continued, almost as if he could hear Kim’s thoughts. “You’ve been put into a very tough situation, but you’re doing your best, and that’s what’s important. You always do your best. It’s… part of why I like you so much…”
And now Max was looking down slightly, smiling to himself, probably blushing somewhat. It was almost too cute to bear. At least being overwhelmed by his feelings for Max was much more pleasant than being overwhelmed by the pressure of knowing an assassin was after him and his death would cause a war, so perhaps his brain really was starting to go back to normal a little. At least enough to pretend like it to the others, anyway.
“Maybe we should go down to breakfast now,” he said, a little reluctantly. Part of him wanted to just stay here with Max forever.
“Yes, I suppose we should…” It sounded like Max was just as reluctant as he was. The thought sent his heart into loops. It was still hard to believe that Max loved him back, out of all people, out of all possibilities. That was one positive thing in a sea of negativities.
All of a sudden, Max held the sides of his face and pulled him into a kiss – a soft, lingering one, so sweet he was sure his brain was melting, and despite how long it lasted it just wasn’t enough.
“I love you,” Max whispered, before taking his hand and pulling him out of the door and towards the dining hall.
Kim was a little too catatonic to say “I love you too”, so he just let himself be pulled along by his sweetheart, trying not to stare, failing miserably, falling into a hopeless lovesick daze. Drowning in his love for Max was so much more preferable to drowning under an ocean of pressure and responsibilities.
Oh… thank goodness for Max. Thank goodness for all his friends. Maybe, with their help, he really could survive this.

“This is getting ridiculous, Draco,” Pansy said as she murmured the incantation to heal Draco’s palm. Draco said nothing. He was still gritting his teeth. As soon as Pansy was finished, he snatched his hand out of her grip.
“Thanks a lot,” he said waspishly.
“Hey, I’m not the one who made you smash that glass. Show a little more gratitude. You’re being a brat,” she said with a scowl.
“Nobody made me smash that glass. The glass was… fragile.” Draco mentally rolled his eyes at himself.
“Right,” Pansy replied flatly. She looked over her shoulder and Draco couldn’t help but follow her gaze. His eyes landed on Potter, sitting at the bar and chatting animatedly with some bloke. Draco balled his hands into fists. This seemed to be his natural reaction to seeing Potter like this. It was how he had accidentally smashed that glass he had been holding.
“I need another drink,” Draco muttered. Pansy’s head snapped back around.
“Oh no, you don’t. Don’t go over there. You’ll embarrass yourself.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Draco growled as he watched the bloke stroking Potter’s arm. This was it. Now he definitely had to go over there.
“Draco,” Pansy called after him, but there was no stopping him now.
As he pushed several people out of the way, he felt more anger coursing through him. When he reached the two barstools he hadn’t let out of his sight, he narrowed his eyes. He was standing behind the bloke Potter was talking to. And although Potter was facing him, the prat was solely focused on that sandy-haired troll. He was grinning at him stupidly. Draco felt like he was going to explode. Potter ignoring him like this made his chest hurt more than he’d liked to admit.
He slammed his hand onto the bar, right beside the bloke’s elbow. He and Potter jumped. A little smirk tugged at Draco’s lips as the troll finally stopped stroking Potter’s arm and turned around to look at Draco. Only… he wasn’t a troll at all. He was rather handsome. Damn it. Draco felt another tightening in his chest.
“Can we help you, Malfoy?” Potter asked. We. He had just referred to them as we. They probably just met! Draco could barely keep from baring his teeth in a grimace. He took a deep breath and put on his best sneer.
“I didn’t take you as a bloke who would go for a peeping Tom.”
“What?” Potter spluttered.
Draco mentally chuckled.
“I wasn’t talking to you, Potter,” he drawled, locking eyes with the sandy-haired eye candy. “Did you know that this one,” he nodded his head once in the direction where Potter was sitting, dumbfounded, “once watched me undress while he was under his invisibility cloak?”
Potter’s eyes widened as he undoubtedly remembered the train ride in their sixth year.
“Oh, and in third year, he almost fell off his broom when he saw me walking onto the Quidditch pitch,” Draco smirked.
“Excuse me,” Potter exclaimed, “you were dressed as a Dementor! And I cast a Patronus charm at you!”
“You did?” Eye Candy said, obviously impressed. Draco wrinkled his nose.
“While we’re on the subject of Quidditch,” Potter continued, ignoring the admiring look Eye Candy was giving him, “did you know I beat this wanker every single time we played against each other?”
Draco scowled at him.
“Well, did you know that this so-called Saviour stalked me for almost a year?”
“You hunted me down in my compartment on the Hogwarts Express every year!” Potter almost shouted.
Well, Draco couldn’t exactly argue with that.
“And don’t think I’ve forgotten the way you used to watch me, every time I entered the Great Hall,” Potter added.
Draco felt his cheeks heat up. This wasn’t going as planned at all!
“Wow, clearly I’m getting myself in the middle of something here,” Eye Candy said, raising both of his hands.
“Then maybe you should just leave,” Draco shot at him, regretting it immediately. He sounded way too bitter. This was getting out of hand. Why was it that Potter always made him lose control like this? This wasn’t like Draco at all! He had to get away from him. Now.
He gave Potter one last venomous glance, before he turned on his heels and marched back to where Pansy was sipping her drink.
Draco placed a hand on her hip, drawing her close, which earned him a skeptical look.
“What are you doing, Draco?” Pansy asked.
“Can you please not ask any questions?” Draco muttered.
“So you did make a fool out of yourself,” she sighed. Draco ignored her and cupped her cheek with his other hand instead.
“Draco, what are you doing?” she repeated.
“Will you just shut up and kiss me?” Draco growled. Pansy’s eyes widened.
“What? No! Ew! Draco!” She turned her face away from him, giggling. Draco exhaled loudly, letting his hand drop to his side and resting his forehead on Pansy’s shoulder.
“You’re a lousy friend,” he mumbled.
“If that means I don’t have to kiss you in a pathetic attempt to make Potter jealous, I’m fine with that,” Pansy snickered, patting his back. Draco suddenly realised what this must look like. Like Pansy was comforting him. He didn’t want Potter to get any ideas. He straightened himself, took Pansy’s drink and downed it in one gulp.
“Hey,” she protested as he handed the empty glass back to her with a grimace.
“Ugh, that is disgusting,” Draco spluttered.
“Well, you owe me a drink now,” Pansy retorted. Draco rolled his eyes fondly at her, brushed his fingers over her cheek once and headed for the back entrance of the bar. He needed some fresh air.
Once outside, he finally felt like he could breathe properly. Closing his eyes, he leaned against the brick wall and let his head drop back. Maybe he should just forget about Potter. Well, easier said than done. Hadn’t he tried to do that for years now? And every time Draco had thought he was fine, he had bumped into Potter again and had lost his ruddy mind. Every bloody time. Especially when he had seen Potter flirting with somebody else.
Draco had no right to be jealous, he knew that. But he couldn’t help it. The more he tried to hide his feelings, the more they threatened to burst out of him. He just wished he could turn them off somehow. Stupid, stupid Potter!
Draco suddenly felt something warm pressing against his left arm. He looked sideways and startled when he saw Potter leaning against the wall beside him. He was standing so close, their arms were touching. Draco’s mind reeled.
“Pansy? Seriously?” Potter chuckled. Draco kept staring stupidly at him, not registering that Potter was talking to him. “I would have liked it better if you had continued trying to embarrass me with old tales of our mutual obsession.” Potter was grinning. Why was he grinning? It wasn’t a taunting grin. It was… flirtatious? Draco tried to fight down the butterflies in his stomach, because there was just no was Potter was trying to be flirtatious.
“But I guess trying to make me jealous with Pansy was also kind of cute.”
Draco’s eyes widened. He was suddenly torn between snapping at Potter for being ridiculous and finally giving up his stupid charade and admitting that that had been exactly what he had tried to do. Well, old habits die hard.
“Don’t flatter yourself, Potter,” Draco shot at him with a scowl. “Who said I was trying to make you jealous? Maybe I was trying to steal that bloke you were talking to right from under your nose.”
Potter chuckled again.
“If that was your plan, you did a very poor job.”
“Well, he’s not with you anymore, is he?” Draco snapped.
“No. He went to another bar, actually. So you’ll have to find yourself another target.” Potter’s tone was highly irritating. He was teasing Draco.
“Such a shame you’ll be going home alone again tonight then,” Draco shot back.
“Oh? So you have been stalking me again?” Potter said amusedly.
Damn it! Why was Draco unable to think before he spoke whenever Potter was around?
“You just make such a pathetic sight, it’s hard to overlook.” Draco knew how lame he sounded, but he was getting more and more nervous. And angry. Couldn’t Potter just go away already? “Just go home now and spare yourself any further embarrassment.”
“Given our history, I would have thought you’d be delighted to see me embarrass myself. What do you care if I go home alone or not?” Potter said with a piercing glance. Draco swallowed.
“I don’t,” he sneered. “I really couldn’t care less.”
“Great. See you inside then. I actually saw a rather handsome bloke on my way out here,” Potter shrugged.
Draco snorted. He was bluffing. On the other hand… what if he was not? What if this conversation with Draco had made him determined to prove he just had to snap his fingers and everybody would rush over to worship him?
The thought made Draco pant with rage. He couldn’t stand the thought of being the one who had pushed Potter into the arms of another man. That would be the opposite of what he truly wanted.
“Damn it, you should be going home with me!”
Draco only realized what he’d said after Potter turned around to look at him. Bloody hell, he had practically shouted the words at Potter. They stood there in silence for a few seconds, before Potter suddenly moved.
“Finally, you stupid git,” he whispered as he lunged at Draco.
Draco didn’t know what was happening when he felt warm lips on his and strong arms encircling him. He was stunned. Never in a million years had he expected… this?
Draco shuddered as Potter’s tongue traced the line between his lips. He melted into the sensation and closed his eyes. He opened his mouth to draw some much needed breath and immediately felt Potter’s tongue on his. It felt better than he had ever imagined. Apparently, Potter didn’t feel the same, because he made a displeased sound.
Draco opened his eyes and saw that Potter was making a face. Draco froze. Why was Potter making that face? Had the kiss been that horrible? How was that possible, when Draco still felt tingly all over?
“You taste awful,” Potter muttered, “what was Pansy drinking?” Before Draco could reply, Potter grabbed his wand and flicked it once. Draco suddenly tasted peppermint on his tongue and then Potter latched himself onto Draco again.
“We should get out of here,” Potter breathed after a moment. Draco shuddered again.
“I see you’re wasting no time, Potter. Do you usually move this fast, or is it just me who’s getting you so excited.” Draco had intended to sound like he was teasing Potter, but it had sounded more like he was begging Potter for affection. Gross!
He was letting his jealousy get the best of him. Again. He wanted Potter, yes, but the thought of how many others had kissed him, had seen him naked, had heard him moan, made Draco want to vomit.
“Hmmm,” Potter hummed amusedly. Damn it, he was probably seeing right through Draco. “You know just as well as I do that we probably should have done this a long time ago.”
Draco’s eyes snapped up to Potter’s. He couldn’t believe what he had just heard. Had Potter just admitted to being attracted to Draco… for a while? How long? Draco burned to ask him. But he couldn’t do that. He wasn’t some sentimental sap!
Draco almost stumbled when Potter grabbed his hand and tugged him forward.
“Come on, let’s go,” he said happily. “Oh, and just so you know,” he added, grinning over his shoulder, “I’m not really into casual stuff. Your arse is mine now, Malfoy!”
