I was listening to the Encanto Soundtrack, as one does, and I couldn’t stop thinking about the Black siblings/cousins and how well they fit into those roles.

Bellatrix being the “perfect” daughter and eldest (Isabella) that’s struggling to break away because of her need to appease the elders in her family. Andromeda being the strong older sister that shoulders every burden (Luisa) because she just isn’t enough like Bella. Narcissa being the black sheep and often forgotten as part of the family (Mirabel). Sirius seeing and hearing all the family secrets, while his wishes are never acknowledged (Dolores). Regulus becoming whoever the family needed to be and putting on whatever mask he needed to wear in order to be useful (Camilo). Even Draco could fit as the younger child bred to fix the family (Antonio).

I just couldn’t stop this thought while listening, I’m probably crazy.

I get viscerally angry when AO3 tells me I’ve already left kudos on a fic. So what. Let me kudos again. I wanna leave six kudos. This author needs kudos for every time I’ve come back to reread their damn work okay.

I love Redemption Arcs for Regulus, but tbh I also love unapologetically bad guy Regulus, too.

Like don’t get me wrong. Him turning on the Dark Lord and realizing he was wrong and reconnecting with Sirius to save the wizarding world is so cute. But what about him not?

I lowkey love thinking Regulus is just some shithead nepo baby with very little morals and respects only when it’s earned. He didn’t leave Voldemort because he realized blood supremacy was bad. He left because Voldemort was immoral and while Regulus doesn’t have a lot, there are still some he abides by. Voldemort disrespected Regulus, and the House of Black, by returning Kreacher the way he did. He disrespected magic and the laws of power by creating horcruxes. Regulus didn’t have an “aha” moment where he realized Voldemort was evil and needed to be stopped. He had a choice to let the slights against his upbringing and station in society pass, or to seek retribution. I love the idea that if Regulus survived, he wouldn’t have just disbanded the death eaters. He would have been a smarter Dark Lord. He wouldn’t have gone about Willy nilly killing muggles and muggleborns. What’s the point? He would want order in the magical world to make sure muggles were kept out. He would’ve implemented documentation for squibs who leave the wizarding world and families of muggleborns so they wouldn’t be able to spill secrets. It would’ve been a “do as I say, or die trying to stop me” in the most political upheaval that wizarding Europe has ever seen. Sometimes that’s fun for me to think about too.

How it works: Writers, artists and video editors of the Marauders fandom will create non-profit drabbles, sketches and edits in return for donations to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. Once proof of donation is sent, your prompt will then be assigned to a writer/artist/editor to fulfill at random. The fics will be posted to the Ao3 collection Marauders With Palestine Project, while the sketches and edits will be posted to the creator’s own accounts.

Writer/artist volunteer sign up: March 11th - March 31st

Donation proof and prompt submissions: April 1st - April 22nd

Prompt assignment: April 23rd - April 31st

Writing and drawing: May 1st - May 31st

Answered prompts and posting will happen starting June 1st

General Rules:

Each contributor can donate more than once, but they’ll only be allowed to submit a maximum of three prompts, no matter their donation size.

Proof of donation is required for the prompts to be accepted and added to the list. 5 USD is the required minimum for SFW prompts, and 8 USD for NSFW prompts.

NSFW prompts can only be submitted by 18+ contributors and will be assigned to 18+ volunteers only.

Prompts need to be worded clearly to avoid confusion, and they can’t include more than four Marauders era characters. Contributors can specify if they prefer a fic or a drawing, but the final product will depend on availability and may change. Prompts will be assigned randomly.

The prompts may not contain: religious material, gore, explicit violence, incest, or non-con. Dead dove prompts are not allowed and hateful or politically inclined prompts will be automatically deleted.

For volunteers: Everyone is welcome! 

For writers: fics must be a minimum of 3k words and you must have an Ao3 account to post them to the Marauders For Palestine Project collection. The works must be completely independent from any other works, and while they can be multichapter fics, they have to be published all in one go.

For artists; your contribution may be a drawing or doodle. Sketches are welcome, but there’s no need for background.

For video editors: your video may be longer than 15 seconds.

hey guys, based on the project i just shared, i'd like to start something similar for the marauders fandom

i think it is possible for us to come together as a community and raise funds for a charity in benefit of palestine, so i ask for your collaboration if you have the time and energy to participate, or the resources to contribute

the gist of it is, you donate 5 USD to a charity that is yet to be decided, and once you send proof of donation, you can submit a prompt that will be assigned to a random artist/writer. depending on the volunteers' comfort level, we could discuss adding NSFW prompts as well

none of this is set in stone and the fine details haven't been decided as i need to put together a small logistics crew to design the project, but i do need as many people as possible to reblog this for a bigger sample size

My favorite ship is when one is the impulse control and the other is the batshit walking heart attack. Like it always works no matter the ship. Its only made better when you can never tell which is which at any given moment.

Sirius and Remus are BOTH caretakers in their lives, for different reasons. Yes, Remus is probably the caretaker in his relationship to an extent, because Sirius is a fucking mess. But Sirius is not a helpless child. This is a man that canonically is known to take of his friends. He became an illegal animagus at 15 years old so his werewolf best friend would not have to suffer full moons alone. He was there for James when Effie and Monty died. He was there when Lily got pregnant. Was the only named godparent of Harry. In fanon we constantly talk about how he raised Regulus. How he took Peter under his wing. Sirius Black is not useless. He’s a natural caretaker in the core of his person. Everyone around him relies on him for something. Does he receive care back? Of course. That’s called a healthy relationship. He is able to depend on Remus when he just needs to shut down or James when he’s having a manic episode. But let’s not forget that Sirius isn’t an idiot. This is a man who grew up with wealth and power. He’s intelligent, he cares.

Effie and Monty are my Roman Empire.

They wanted kids so bad. Struggled to have James. And then just loved him unconditionally. Adopted his friends when they needed parents too. They were probably at every one of his quidditch games. Effie probably bought Sirius his motorbike. Monty 100% brewed Remus’ wolfbane potions for FREE. They for sure brought Peter to his first muggle botanical garden. They LOVED them, your honor.

People need to talk about Dorcas Meadowes more. She was in canon the only known Order member besides Lily and James to personally be killed by Voldemort. She’s in Moody’s team photo, which means she died before the Potters. In canon, Voldemort only comes out to kill the important people. Why is not one person talking about how Dorcas got put on this list? Voldemort’s death list in the first wizarding war revolve heavily around a need-to-kill (in his eyes) basis. What put Dorcas on the same list as Harry Potter’s family and his own muggle relatives? People do not talk about her enough.
