Indifference Part 2
Tumblr media
Part 1 ~~
Sanji X Fem Reader
Sanji let to door shut behind him as soon as Chopper said you were stable. Heading to the edge of the deck to lean over the railing, the sun long gone and the only light coming from the stars in the sky. He grabbed a cigarette and his lighter, his hands noticeably shaking as he brings the items closer to his mouth.
         His eyes were dazed over as he attempted to light the nicotine in his fingers, wanting any sort of comfort compared to what just happened the past few hours. Finally succeeding he breathe in the sweet release as smoke fills his lungs. The feeling grounding him ever so slightly as he lets his head fall, staring at his hands.
         The feeling of warm blood enveloping them as he tried to stop the flow on your back, the transfusions that happened quickly while Chopper got to work stitching the wounds. His hands slowly turning sticky and dry, his shirt covered in the red liquid. And your face, his mind kept replaying the look you had given him just before you fell. The pale, worried, confused face. He didn’t know if you had tried to say something or if you were just trying to breathe, but the last gasps that escaped your lips before falling unconscious haunted his mind.
         His throat tightened slightly as he flicked the butt of his cigarette into the open water below him, quickly lighting another while trying not to clench his teeth. How did no one notice? What happened that your back was targeted? His hands clenched the railing underneath him; how didn’t he realize you had been hurt?
         During the fight he had been so focused on not looking at you. Deciding instead to focus on beating more marines than Zoro. Didn’t you cry out for help? Why was your back undefended? Wasn’t anyone fighting with you?
~~~
         You woke up the next day with Chopper fretting over you. Crying and yelling at you for not telling him you had gotten hurt. In the corner of the room, you could see bloody bandages piled into the bin, the lights just slightly too bright for your liking as you attempt to sit up. “What do you think you’re doing?! You need to rest,” Chopper ran back over to you, pushing you down as he heard you wincing.
         “It can’t be that bad…” You mumble trying to think back to the moments before you passed out. It was difficult to think of anything at the moment, your throat was dry and your body felt heavier than normal.
         “Not that bad? You nearly died!” Chopper cried, lecturing you while you stopped listening. The scolding voice going in one ear and out the other as you glance around the room. The reindeer fretting over every movement as he checked over you again.
         “I’m alive.” Your voice was re-assuring as you placed a hand on his shoulder. Even with such a small movement you could tell how tired your body was. “I hope I didn’t cause to much trouble Chopper.” You attempt to smile and it seems to cause the cotton-candy lover to cry. The water works coming out as he yells about how worried he was.
         Robin is the first one to enter the room upon the commotion being heard. Giving you a bowl of soup, “You gave us quite a scare back there.” And just like that everyone visited you as time went on. Never being alone but also not being allowed to get up when you want.
         This biggest thing you noticed though was the lack of Sanji. You could hear him through the wall, prepping food and yelling at crewmates sneaking a taste. Yet he’d never made his way in to check on you like the others. The aching pain in your back almost feeling good compared to your heavy heart.
~~~
         Sanji kept replaying that night in his head. Or really that day. Maybe the past few weeks. His heart sinking further into a pit as his thought about what he could have done differently, what would have been better if he had handled the situation better.
         He never meant to grow feelings for you, and when he felt his heart beat faster, he had thought it was the cigarettes catching up to him. Your cute voice filling his usually empty kitchen as you insisted on helping him. It’s not that no one else offered, it’s that you were just insistent on coming. And who was he to turn a pretty lady away?
         As time passed, he started trusting you with more and more. His normally quiet evenings filled with meal prepping turning into spending time with you. Telling stories of adventures you had had, without the other. Soon enough he had you tasting his food prematurely, something he hadn’t done before, something only Zeff had the pleasure of doing as he honed his skills. He wasn’t sure why but watching as truly taste his food, putting in your thoughts for potential seasonings filled him with joy.
         Even when your alone time together was interrupted, he was more than happy that you were able to fend off the main course while he fixed the others a quick snack. Making sure Luffy didn’t get too many bites of the unfinished food.
And of course, he noticed how you would sneak candy out of the kitchen for Chopper. It was his duty to make sure everyone had a well-balanced nutritious diet, and while he’d scold you from time to time, he always made sure to leave the healthier candy in a easy hiding spot.
Your laugh was another thing, your voice like angels singing in his ears as he drew closer with snacks prepared specifically with you in mind. The appreciative look on your face as you’d take the item from his trey sending him over the edge.
         But that’s the thing. His heart racing was normal. Any women that walked by made him shudder, yet there you were. Seemingly making his heart race to the moon, faster than he’d ever felt it. The almost painful beating in his chest making him begrudgingly go to Chopper to make sure he wasn’t getting sick.
His shock when Chopper said he was as healthy as ever, going on his normal spiel to cut back on smoking but that the moment nothing had changed. It took him another week or two to realize what was causing the increased heart rate. You had been talking to Zoro, laughing with a smile on your face, and all Sanji could feel while watching from afar was a pained beat hammering away.
         He thought he knew what love was. But clearly, he was in fresh waters when it came to you. And despite his bravado, his chivalrous behaviors and language of love, he was scared. Zeff had only ever taught him how to treat a lady, Sanji would see women come and go, but none that held onto his adoptive fathers’ hand for long. And Judge hadn’t a paternal bone in his body when it came to giving advice for the few years Sanji had spent with him. For once, he felt completely unprepared.
         As Sanji smokes the last of his cigarettes, he lets out a frustrated sigh, tossing the empty carton to the side as he starts to chew on his thumb nail instead. His mind twirling with how he should have dealt with his own feelings differently.
         His decision to stay away came hard to him. His heart telling him to follow you to the ends of the world, yet the pain in his chest of being truly rejected, turned down by the first person he’s truly wanted stopped him from pursuing you. He made a conscious effort to stay away as much as possible, but still believing your cooking time together could be his own secret heaven.
         But as time went on, he realized your reactions to him, your delightful noises when you’d finish a task, your happy laughter filling the air of his kitchen, was making him day dream more. The seemingly secret rendezvous in his mind taking precedent in his every waking moment, getting distracted through out the day until you’d find him in the kitchen once again.
         And so, he started to actively ignore you in the kitchen too. Maybe, if he stopped talking to you, his feelings would settle down and his feet would stop turning cold. It worked for a while; his heart settled as it didn’t hear your delightful tones ringing through the air.
         Yet it didn’t last for long. The more measures he put in place to stop his feelings from growing, the more he seemed to fall. So, he swallowed the lump in his throat that fateful day. Not turning to you as you entered the kitchen to help him once again. He uttered those words without looking at you. He knew if he saw you, his resolve would break. His back was tense, waiting for a response from you, and yet it never came.
         Instead, he heard your feet shuffle away, the door closing behind you as you didn’t utter a single word to him. And somehow, that hurt worse than any rejection Sanji had expected. Anger, confusion, anything, but silence? He grits his teeth as his heart pounded like never before, praying that it’d settle down soon, that these feelings he’d never known before would disappear without a trace.
         Sanji bites his thumb, snapping himself out of his thoughts as he stared out into the ocean. He didn’t want to remember the fight with the marines. He didn’t want to remember the trail of blood, leading him to your pale face. He didn’t want to remember as his hands became drenched in your blood, your body turning cold underneath him as Chopper fixed you up. He didn’t want to remember how close you had come to deaths door before you finally turned around to dance on the fence of the afterlife and the living realm.
         “Sanji…” The voice he had dreaded hearing called out to him, anchoring him to the present, the now, as you stood staring at him with some concern in your eyes. His heart froze, seeing you standing, walking, talking felt like a miracle that made it feel like he could breathe again. “I guess I should thank you,” You laugh out lowly, ignoring the own pain in your heart.
         Sanji’s heart sank, your laugh sounded empty and bare, it wasn’t you. He focused on your body, it was too frail, too pale for your complexion as you stood there. “I didn’t think my wounds were that bad…” You trailed off, making light of your own injuries despite your back now littered with stitches soon to be deep scars.
         Sanji’s blood ran cold as you continued to awkwardly joke about the situation, your way to cope with nearly losing your life. You still felt a little light headed when you came out to get fresh air, your breath being taken away when you saw Sanji, and you couldn’t stop yourself before you started talking. And now it seemed as those you couldn’t stop talking, dry laughter leaving your mouth as you attempt to get the man in front of you to speak a single word to you.
         Then, without a second passing, arms were wrapped around you. A tight, yet careful squeeze holding you in place as Sanji buried your face into his chest, his hand resting on the back of your head, lightly stroking your hair. The sudden embraced shut you up, you breathe caught in your throat and your mind going blank as heavy emotions hit you, yet time felt still.
         “I’m sorry,” Sanji whispered, only audible to you, “I…” Sanji choked on his words, his chest jumped a bit as though choking back a sob, unspoken words being conveyed from his actions as tears finally fall down your face. A small wail erupting from your throat as you pressed your face into his dress shirt, your hands bawling the fabric of his shirt as you cried. His soothing hands holding you as you finally let your emotions out into the man you trust the most on the crew.

Take Care
Sanji woke up with excruciating pain, everywhere. The sun blared down at him and he grimaced. Rolling onto his side he cracked his eyes open, trying to get his barrings.
He tried to remember the last thing that had happened before he blacked out. He looked up and saw the rest of his crew lying down, passed out. Everyone except— “Zoro.”
Sanji shot up and ignored the pain screaming at him. He scanned the battle field full of rubble and bodies. With no luck finding the ball of moss he started running. He needed to find him, that bastard couldn’t have died.
The pressure in his lungs stung as he ran, but he ignored it. Jumping over fallen rocks. his legs shook. He kept running until he saw Zoro’s peculiar green hair.
He paused and stared at him. His arms were crossed, body standing tall, clothes torn and ripped, blood all around him.
Sanji gasped quietly and approached him. Kuma didn’t seem to be anywhere in sight, “What happened?”
Zoro didn’t move, he just kept standing firm and tall, “Nothing happened.”
Sanji was about to respond with an angry retort but before he could he saw it. The break in Zoro’s demeanor. The slight tremble of his legs.
He quickly ran over to him and caught his bloody body before it hit the ground. Zoro’s face looked pained, even more than after his fight with Mihawk.
“You dumb idiot.” Sanji whispered before scooping him up in his arms bridal style.
He walked over to his other crew mates. They seemed to be coming to. They sat up grimacing in the light just as Sanji did before. All were rubbing their bodies, trying to soothe the aches that were there.
Except for Luffy, he was jumping up and down yelling about how he didn’t have any pain. Sanji’s eyes narrowed as he thought about how much pain Zoro must be in and how their idiot captain is shoving his painlessness in their faces.
Sanji held Zoro closer to his body so he could here the small breaths Zoro was taking. He trekked towards the castle. One of the rooms seemed to still be intact and Sanji thought it would be a good place for Zoro to rest and get treatment. Sunny was too far away and Zoro needed care now.
“Chopper!” Sanji yelled as he passed the little reindeer who was already starting to patch up Usopp.
Chopper looked up and wailed, “Sanji! Is Zoro okay? Is he alive?! What happened!”
“I don’t know, but he is breathing. Please take him inside and treat him.”
Chopper switched to his human form and grabbed Zoro from Sanji, “Right! Can you go to Sunny and get extra supplies for me? I have enough to treat Zoro but not enough for this battlefield.”
Sanji nodded and Chopper ran off inside the building with Zoro in his arms. He sighed and lit a cigarette, the sweet smoke filling his lungs. He went over to his crew first, making sure his ladies were okay. Robin was helping Nami stand up. They seemed to have minor injuries.
“Are you ladies alright? Need anything from Sunny?” Sanji asked them sweetly.
Nami and Robin turned to him, eyes widening at his injured state. “Sanji-kun…you need to see Chopper.”
Sanji smiled, “I appreciate your worry mademoiselle, but I can assure you that Chopper has some great priorities right now. And you two must be treated before me. I am actually on a mission from our dear doctor getting more supplies.”
Nami and Robin turned to each other before looking back towards Sanji, “Maybe some clothes would be nice, cook-san.”
“As you wish, my loves!” Sanji bowed before making his way to the Sunny.
. . .
Everyone was treated and the post battle glory emanated throughout the room. Brook riled up the crowd as he shared Bink’s Sake with everyone.
Sanji smiled and looked back to the meal he was making. Most everything had already gone out to everyone but he had one last one to make. With some seafood Sanji finished the plate and brought it over to the one he made it for.
Zoro was lying on a makeshift bed at the back of the room. He was covered in bandages like a mummy. Sanji placed the plate on the table next to Zoro before kneeling down next to his bed.
“Marimo,” He whispered.
Zoro stirred a bit but didn’t open his eyes.
Sanji looked behind him to make sure no one was watching them. He gently ran a hand through Zoro’s hair, trying to coarse him to wake, “Marimooo.”
Zoro’s face contorted and he cracked his left eye open slightly. He blinked his eyes before looking up at Sanji, “Cook?”
“How are you feeling?” Sanji asked as he pulled up a chair next to him.
Zoro grumbled and tried to sit up, hissing in pain. Sanji grabbed his arm softly and helped him. Zoro looked at Sanji angrily but didn’t pull away.
Now upright against the pillows, Zoro looked down at himself, “Shit.”
“Yeah you got your ass beat, hard.” Sanji smirked.
“Shove it, shit cook! It was so I could save your lousy ass!” Zoro growled at him.
Sanji rolled his eyes, “And look where that got you. Now, shut up and eat the onigiri I made you.”
Zoro looked at the plate Sanji grabbed and sighed. Sanji picked up one of the onigiri’s and brought it to Zoro’s mouth. However, Zoro grimaced and turned away.
“That’s humiliating.” He said.
Sanji’s brow furrowed in anger as he slammed the plate back onto the side table, “You know what you selfish bastard?! You can suffer here by your-fucking-self. I’m trying to help you and all you want to do is continue being a fucking jerk!”
Sanji turned away and was about to break for the other side of the room before something caught his arm.
Weakly he heard, “Wait, please…”
Sanji paused and turned. Zoro’s weakly gripped his sleeve with his face down in defeat.
Zoro looked up to him with pleading eyes, “Please help me.”
Sanji sighed and closed his eyes. He sat back down in the chair and picked up an onigiri once more bringing it to Zoro’s mouth.
Zoro blushed before opening his mouth and eating it, “It’s really good.”
Sanji smiled and kept feeding him, “I’m glad.”
The background noise seemed to drown out to them as they shared this intimate moment. When Zoro finished all the onigiri he yawned.
“Get some rest, mosshead.”
Zoro paused, “…will you…will you stay here with me?”
Sanji’s eyes widened as he let the request sink in. Zoro flushed, “I-I mean—sorry that was a stupid. Never mind me.”
Cracking a smile, Sanji grabbed Zoro’s bandaged hand and held it gingerly in his, “Of course I’ll stay.”
Zoro smiled and squeezed Sanji’s hand weakly. He did his best to create room on the bed. As Sanji saw what he was doing he blushed, “Oh, in there?”
Zoro nodded. Sanji smiled and let go of his his hand to get in next to him. It was cramped but warm. Zoro lay on his back as Sanji lay on his side wrapping his arms and legs around Zoro.
Sanji’s head rested on Zoro’s shoulder. Zoro smiled as he felt Sanji’s blonde hair ticked his chin.
“Get some rest,” Sanji mumbled.
Zoro maneuvered his face into Sanji’s hair and grunted. Sanji smiled and sleep came over him. Soon enough both of their bodies relaxed and they were peacefully asleep.

Prompt: Sanji starts treating you differently from normal and it's taking a toll. It all comes to a head when you get hurt.
Sanji X Reader
You’d been on board the Sunny for a while now. Enough to know all your crew mates’ personalities. Enough to brace for impact when you hear your captain yell your name, strike a pose when the shipwright yells super, even joining the helmsmen to meditate every now and then. Reading a book just to discuss it with Robin or discussing fashion with Nami. Eagerly sitting and listening to Usopp’s stories, or waking the swordsman up for dinner, even along to music played by a Skeleton were common days for you. Chopper loving your company in the med bay when you sneak him more Candy than the chef would like.
         And then there was the chef. The curly browed, blonde-haired chef. You had heard warnings of him before joining the crew, how his nose bleeds came from his perverted thoughts. How he doted on any female in his sights. Even Nami had pulled you to the side to tell you how to kick or slap him away if you felt it got to much. Robin giving the advice to just ignore it.
         The first couple of weeks you had proven those rumors true. Sanji would go out of his way to make sure you felt comfortable, making you snacks and drinks constantly and praising the very land you stood on. At first you were taken aback by it, but quickly realized that it was just who he was. He treated you the same as Nami and Robin and it brought you comfort that, while a little strange, it wasn’t different from others.
         You’d even join him to help prep the food or wash the dishes, he protested at first, but never truly tried to stop you. The gentle humming you’d hear as you peeled the vegetables or set the table would sometimes make your heart skip a beat. He’d always turn around to have you taste his food prematurely, his cooing as you gladly took the spoonful.
         Maybe that was your problem. Maybe you had fallen too hard for the stupid chef. Going out of your way to wake up earlier to help him with breakfast, or staying up late at night to see him prepare a snack for your gluttonous captain. Making sure you could spend as much of your precious time with him while attempting to make it seem like a coincidence.
         But now here you were, staring at the man cooking with his back turned to you. It started about 2 months ago. His indifference to your presence. The way he’d barely glance at you, sharing only the bare minimum of words needed to not ignore you completely. The silence in the kitchen hung on your heart as you stared at the back of the chef in front of you. It started slow, but now it was hard to avoid. Sanji had just asked you to stop coming to his kitchen. His voice had been low, and he hadn’t even turned his head to talk to you, You swallowed the lump in your throat, deciding not to speak as you listen to his words.
         Deciding to go to the aquarium instead. It’d be quiet there around this time of day, with the rest of the crew distracted in their own daily routines. Holding your breath as to not let a single cry out as your chest burned. You sat against one of the couches, staring at the fish swimming buy thinking about what happened.
You noticed right away when he stopped fawning over you, the praising tones towards Robin and Nami seemingly falling flat as he would turn to you. And you noticed how the dishes and drinks you got no longer were presented with perfection, often getting a closer presentation to Luffy or Zoro. The sing-song voice slowly turning mono-tone towards you over the weeks. Last week he had stopped talking to you in the kitchen, opting instead to just place your task on the opposite end of the kitchen from him but still saying thanks as you finished.
You brought your knees to your chest, biting your lip hard to remain quiet as his last words to you echo in your mind. The dry tone telling you to leave. You could feel your nails starting to break the skin on your palm and the subtle taste of copper on your tongue. Maybe you weren’t welcomed. Maybe everything had been an illusion and Sanji was just the first one to give up the act.
You were quickly snapped out of your mind with the sudden jerk of the ship, falling at the unmistakable feeling of a cannon ball hitting. Your mind going into action mode, forgetting all about your feelings as you go to the deck. The captain and his wings were already on the attack as Franky was switching the ships mode for battle, and you join the line-up to help the fight.
At one-point Marines had started to board the ship. You fought them off as quickly as the came aboard, slashing and dodging as fast as you could. At one point you had been surrounded, a marine attempting to disarm you by grabbing your wrist, forcing you to turn away from most of the enemies before you fell to the ground. You broke free from the grasp quickly enough, slashing at their ankles as you stand back up. The blood in your veins burning as the fight raged on.
         By the end of it, everyone was exhausted. 5 marine ships surrounding the Sunny in hopes to sink it. The adrenaline had kicked in quickly for you with the shaking of the ship and the movement of fighting. You breathe out a huge sigh of relief as Zoro and Sanji take care of the stragglers, throwing them overboard as you slump against the mast, sinking into the grass beneath. Now that the fight was over it was harder to breathe.
         Franky and Usopp going to fix the ship right away, as Jimbei jumped in the water to see if there was damage to the hull. Chopper complained about the smell of blood but chocked it up to the marines Zoro took care of as Nami and Robin whisked him away to clean up in the bathhouse. You glance up as Zoro heads to the crows’ nest to keep watch for a bit while Brook follows Luffy and Sanji into the dining hall, the captain yelling for food.
         Standing up, you notice a stain of red on the mast and grass from where you sat. You felt the shreds of your shirt on your back when you fell but now you could feel the warm liquid dripping down your back and legs. The stinging pain hitting you as you try to straighten your back a bit more, before quickly heading to the med-bay.
         You could hear through the walls Sanji yelling at Luffy to not eat raw meat as you grabbed some bandages and anti-septic. You didn’t want to bother Chopper, Robin had probably made a bubble bath for the cotton-candy lover. It took longer than you would have thought to find the bottle that was sure to sting, and grabbed a clean cloth, wetting it with the liquid. The cheerful laughter in the other room ringing around you as you prepare yourself to clean the wound you couldn’t see.
         You tried turning your head to look in the mirror but only felt light-headed when you saw how much blood was coming out, your flayed skin curling back from the center of the cuts. Seeing the glimpse of how bad it was seemed to also fully awaken your body to how much it hurt as all of your muscles tensed, every movement now seemingly shooting unbearable pain through your body. You can’t seem to fully move yourself anymore as your throat tightens enough to stop your breathing.
~~~
         Sanji left the kitchen after feeding his wild animal of a Captain. Opting for a smoke after the battle was over. It was tougher than he’d like to admit and he was in a foul mood as Zoro had defeated 3 more marines than him. Walking around a bit to lean on a railing while staring at the half-sunken ships now far behind them.
         Everyone should be in their normal post-battle routines, Food on the table for those who needed the energy, some fixing anything that needed it or cleaning any messes about. And of course, the women and Chopper taking an extra bath to rid themselves of any sprayed blood, dirt, or gunpowder.
Dinner would be soon but Sanji still had a good amount of time before he had to truly start any prep. Especially recently with your help, what would normally take him an hour had been cut down to half that… Smoke blew out past his lips as he remembers how he told you to stop helping just earlier that day. How you hadn’t even responded to him, the silence hanging heavily in the air before he heard your soft footsteps and the door opening and closing. It was for the best that you stayed away, after all he-
         “Hey Sanji, have you seen Y/N? She didn’t join us for a bath.” Nami walked by with slightly damp hair, distracting Sanji from his current thought. He turns around offering her his full attention, shaking his head to her question as he fawned over her new outfit.
Robin holding Chopper who seemed to have fallen asleep, “Perhaps she was too tired to join us. She hasn’t been sleeping well.” The suggestion seemed plausible, at this point everyone knew how you’d walk the ship for hours at night to try and wade your insomnia away. Chopper had even tried giving you some medicine for it, but was woefully out of the primary ingredient needed. Even Sanji had altered your meals to have no caffeine or ingredients that would promote sleep. Not that he’d ever tell you. It came naturally to shift dietary needs to the person no other reason to it.
Nami and Robin starts walking away just as Nami steps in a puddle, “Ew, Sanji didn’t you guys clean the deck? There’s still blood everywhere.”
“I’ll get right on it Nami-swan~” The reaction was immediate and they continued to walk away. But Sanji looks down, he could have sworn he saw Usopp cleaning the deck earlier. Frowning a bit as he sees it’s a trail. A stupid Marine must be hiding on board. Badly at that. The least they could do is hide the fact that they’re bleeding.
Following the trail of still wet drops of blood, some larger pools and some streaks until he’s in front of the med-bay door. Kicking the door open to find their apparent intruder, his foot catching a flame as he peered inside. But instead of seeing a badly injured marine, he saw you. Your frozen stare into the mirror behind you, your arms in the air as your pale face turned towards the startling noise. His cigarette falling from his lips as his leg falters.  He sees a cloth and a fallen bottle of anti-septic, pooling around your feet mixing with blood that was a shade to dark. Glancing back up to the mirror to see the horrific scene on your back as you let out two anguished gasps before falling.
Sanji lunges forward, barely catching you from falling on the floor as he calls for help. Quickly placing you face down on the bed, grabbing anything to apply pressure to the gushing gashes, quick footsteps getting closer as his mind started to race.
On Sanji's birthday, a smaller version of him shows up on the Sunny one day. Sanji reflects on who he once was and finally learns to forgive himself.
Happiest Birthday to Sanji <3
He was so small.
He wished it was like looking into a mirror — where he could clearly see everything about him that he considered weak in those glassy blue eyes that would never stop crying. But it didn't even feel like he was looking at who he once was, who he once remembered being, living, and breathing as.
He was so small.
Small enough that the birthday hat that Luffy made for him out of cardboard and rubber bands flopped over his forehead and covered his eyes. Those tiny, shaking hands gripped the tip of the hat and peeked from beneath the shade, confused but captivated by his captain's ever present grin. Small enough that when he was handed a riceball, he had to hold both hands out just so he wouldn't drop it.
He was so small.
And Sanji had forgotten how small he once was.
"You haven't moved for a solid ten minutes," Usopp said as he slid up next to him, leaning against the railing with a drink in his hand. "I'm sure baby Sanji won't get hurt if you look away, you know?"
"I'm not worried about him getting hurt." Sanji still kept his eyes on his younger self regardless. He was now playing a little card game with Chopper, who more or less didn't know the rules to the game either. So neither of them were winning.
"Okay," Usopp elongates the last syllable before sipping his drink. "Then go have fun, man! It's your birthday, after all."
Sanji hums and moves to light a cigarette. But one look at his baby self running around with Luffy and Chopper made him decide against it. Usopp pretends not to see the way Sanji brushes off the gesture like he always meant to do that.
Waking up with a crying child in his bunk bed this morning was not how he pictured his birthday to start out. Waking up and seeing the version of him with that wretched steel helmet on his head was something else entirely. His younger self looked terrified and almost tried to escape – run away from him.
"P-Please... Don't hurt me..." The little boy said, his trembling hands covering his head as if that would truly protect him. Sanji's heart broke. It's been years since he thought of this moment, years since Whole Cake Island, and years more since Germa ever occupied the forefront of his mind. So seeing his younger self, shaking and crying and begging for his life, stirred something protective within him. Protect the child inside of him that was screaming to be held for once, held tenderly, held like he was loved.
"I won't hurt you," Sanji said with his voice barely above a whisper. "No one will hurt you here."
"How do you know that?"
Sanji swallowed, ducking his head. Living on a pirate ship doesn't necessarily guarantee safety. But there's one thing he can always guarantee when he's with the Straw Hats...
"I know because you're loved," The little Sanji's eyes clouded with doubt. Sanji understood all too well why. So he slowly reached out, his hands stopping just shy of the lock on the helmet. Little Sanji moved back a fraction of an inch but Sanji just smiled at him. "Let's get this off of you and I'll show you just how loved you are."
Years ago, if he saw this version of him, he would have tried to avoid the kid like the plague. He didn't want to be reminded of such a horrid time. He didn't want to remember a point in his life where he was too weak, too fragile, too human.
But now it is different.
Now, he knows that being too human was not his greatest flaw but his greatest strength. And that being weak doesn't mean he can't be strong too. It may have taken him so many years to get to that point. But better late than never, right? He doesn't know what will happen if he lets his younger self know that he'll find these people one day. But he's lived through tough times with a dream and the smallest spark of hope that Luffy and his crew kept ignited.
And it wouldn't be such a bad thing to let his kid self... finally be a kid.
"Hey," Usopp nudged Sanji and pointed with his lips in one direction. "Check out who little you took a liking to."
Sanji looked back just in time to see a certain green-haired swordsman giving tiny Sanji a piggyback ride. Something mushy and sappy and gross stirred inside his heart. One that he hasn't been a stranger to for a couple of years now. His hand subconsciously gravitates to the long golden earring dangling from his left ear and finds himself smiling as his younger self laughs at something Zoro said.
"I wanna grow up to be as big and strong as you!" Little Sanji exclaims, his tiny arms wrapped securely around Zoro's neck and shoulders. Zoro laughs — a loud guffaw that shouldn't be as attractive to Sanji as it is this very moment. He reaches up to ruffle little Sanji's hair.
"You'll become even better, little buddy."
"Even stronger than you?!?"
"That's debatable," Zoro says with a little snort. Sanji rolls his eyes with more affection than he ever wants to admit. Within that time, Zoro has transferred little Sanji off of his back and into his arms, and the image of Zoro holding this version of Sanji – with a tenderness he only ever reserves for Chopper – has his mind racing with scenarios his heart can barely take.
"One of the strongest people I know is also the kindest," Zoro says, tucking a strand of blond hair behind little Sanji's ear. "No matter how many people put him down, he'll serve 'em if they're hungry. Doesn't mean jack shit to him if they've got the highest bounty in all the Blues."
"And I think..." Zoro looks up and locks gazes with present Sanji — his Sanji — and gives him a wink. "If you ain't got a big heart, there's no way you can't be strong."
"My father says I care too much..." Little Sanji says, his hands bunch up the fabric of Zoro's shirt. Zoro smooths the hair out of his forehead and does something that makes Sanji's stomach do backflips.
He kisses the little one on the forehead.
"We all need someone who cares a little too much." Zoro assures him and it feels like Zoro isn't speaking to baby Sanji anymore. His eyes are stuck on the man he married, his gaze unwavering and true, and Sanji can't help but blink back a few tears that were forming the whole time. "It's okay for you to care. It's okay for you to feel. Heck, it took me a hell of a long time to learn to love someone properly as much as I do now."
Little Sanji looks up at Zoro, stars in his all blue eyes. "Will I get to love someone too?"
"Of course you do, kid." Zoro ruffles his hair again and touches the tips of their noses together briefly. "You're so loved, Sanji."
Hearing that, Little Sanji's eyes flick over to older Sanji, who's been watching them the whole time. Remembering their previous conversation, Little Sanji smiles the biggest smile that could put every star in the sky to shame.
I'll show you just how loved you are.
When everyone is asleep and the only ones left on the deck are a tired little blond cook-to-be and his future self, something in the air tells them that it might almost be time to go. Little Sanji's arms were wrapped around older Sanji's neck, his head resting on the man's chest so he can hear his steady heartbeat.
"This was the best birthday ever," Little Sanji says as he fights back a yawn. Sanji chuckles, holding the boy a little tighter.
"You'll have so many more birthdays like this, kid."
"Will Zoro be in all of them?"
Sanji laughs. Leave it up to his tiny self to also fall hopelessly in love with his oaf of a husband. Time is a circle, perhaps. "Not all of them. But enough of them to matter."
"That's good," Little Sanji whispers, nuzzling even closer into Sanji's space. Silence befalls them and distant wind chimes greet them. Little Sanji stirs, unsure. "I don't wanna leave."
"I know."
"I'll be back, right?" Little Sanji looks up at him, that same fear burning in his gaze. But Sanji sees something brighter there – the persistent spark of hope that things will eventually get better. That he'll leave that cold lifeless cell and breathe in the salty sea air on a pirate ship that has never been more alive.
He wants this version of him to always have that spark. For that spark will eventually become a roaring fire – the one that tells everyone that Black Leg Sanji is here. And he's here to stay.
"You will," Sanji tells him, giving his younger self one last bright smile. "It's gonna take a while, buddy. But you'll be right here."
Little Sanji mirrors his smile, reaches out to hold his face between his tiny hands, and presses their foreheads together. In the blink of an eye, the child was gone, and Sanji lets out the shakiest sigh. He leans his head back to rest against the wall, feeling happier than he's ever been since the day he got married.
"You'll be right back here, kid." Sanji whispers into the air, reaching his hand out to the sky to trace his own constellations. His own path. His own vision of the future, fortified by the euphoria of living in his present.
Sanji's other hand goes back to his left ear. Back to that earring. And smiles.
"Because you are so loved."
Happy Birthday, Sanji 🥹 I know this is late but I really wanted to write something for my favorite babygirl. Something a little different to the Zoro birthday piece because I need my boy to admit how loved he is 💛💛
Ok wtf the post went away but the lovely @amortentiaz asked for monster trio + Shanks reaction to reader that was previously involved with other pirates romantically!
Monster Trio + Shanks
• When Luffy first saw you, he instantly knew you had to be a member of his crew. You are strong and carry yourself quite confidently. When you helped him out reluctantly in a scuffle with Marines he asked you to join and absolutely didn’t take no for an answer.
• You quickly got along with the rest of the crew as you already had proved yourself greatly by helping them out in a tight pinch.
Luffy
•Luffy didn’t really understand his attraction to you at first as he never felt something like that for anyone else. He was confused as to why he felt differently about you than the rest of the crew.
•He finally admitted to you that being around you “feels like he’s going into Gear 2” as his heart starts pumping rapidly and he feels stronger.
•Soon enough you reciprocated his feelings and he was overjoyed. He treated you very special and because of this he let you nap with him and “share” some of his food (the crumbs).
•One day Robin was reading the paper during breakfast and mentioned that Sir. Crocodile had been prosecuted into Impel Down. Immediately you froze and asked to see for yourself.
•You couldn’t believe your eyes when you saw that he was in fact in Impel Down. After not hearing from him in years this was certainly a shock.
•Usopp watching this questioned your odd behavior but you tried to hide it best you could. Robin being the second in command to Crocodile during her time with Baroque Works interjected, “Did they not tell you that they had a ‘thing’ with Crocodile?”
•Immediately everyone in the room froze. The tea Sanji was pouring splashed onto the ground, Usopp’s jaw fell to the floor, and Chopper’s eyes looked as if they popped out of his head.
•You looked down and blushed shamefully not knowing how to even recover from that. “Is that true?” Nami asked. All you could do was nod your head in response.
•Then they turned to Luffy who was still gouging his way through his meal, and stealing the forgotten food off of the others’
• “Are you going to say anything about this Luffy?” Usopp asked. Luffy paused his eating momentarily and quirked a brow. “What do I need to say about it?” Nami shrieked at Luffy, “Do you really not care that they had a personal relationship with Crocodile? Remember the one that stuck his hook through your body?”
•Luffy only furrowed his brows in confusion, “Why should I care who my partner was romantically involved with. It’s their past and I don’t have any reason to pry in out of them. Plus it’s over and they like me so.”
•Your eyes widened as you looked at Luffy. You smiled and blushed knowing you hit the jackpot with the captain.
Zoro
•Zoro didn’t care much for relationships, believed that they were merely a distraction. But when you came along he decided that maybe something casual wouldn’t hurt.
•He was blunt with it, telling you his feelings. Doesn’t do much physical affection until it’s night and he uses you as a personal teddy bear. He doesn’t need constant reassurance of your feelings for him and that’s what he likes most about you
•One night as you were up in the crow’s nest with him after her just got out of the shower you mustered up the courage to ask how he got that giant scar on his chest.
• “Battled the world’s greatest swordsman when I really shouldn’t have” He simply responded looking for his shirt. “And he did that to you?” You asked. “Yeah, I got owned by Mihawk.”
•You paused before your eyes widened and you turned to be face to face with Zoro, “Mihawk did that to you? The Dracule Mihawk?” Zoro furrowed his brows, “I’m pretty sure there isn’t any other master swordsman named Mihawk. Why do you ask?”
•You paused debating to tell him. “Oh, nothing…” Zoro knew this was a lie and kneeled in front of you gripping your chin and turning it towards him, “Tell me.”
•You sighed and pulled your legs to your chest, “You’re going to hate me if I tell you.” Zoro smirked, “Is that so? I want to know even more, now.”
•You exhale and look away once again, “I had sex with Mihawk.” You said swiftly hoping he wouldn’t catch all of it. Out of all the things to confess he never believed you would say that. Zoro paused and stared at you in disbelief. After a bit he squeezed his eyes shut and breathed in deeply, “How long ago?”
•You looked in his general direction but avoided his eyes, “Honestly, the last time was like a couple weeks before I met you guys.” Zoro’s eyes shot open, “A couple wee-…?! Did you just say ‘last time’? It happened more than once?!”
•You squeaked a bit, “Are you sure you want to know the answer to that?” “YES!” You bit your lip, “I don’t even know like a lot. And I mean a lot. He may not show but goddamn he can get quite passionate, and it-”
•Zoro put a hand over your mouth, “Before you ask I’m not mad. But I do have to ask, was he bigger than me?”
Sanji
•Lover fucking boy Sanji. When you came along gosh he felt so many emotions rushing to his body. Instantly fell in love but it felt different than the love he felt for anyone else.
•Gives little treats to spoil you, makes you specialty dishes and constant hugs. Gosh he just loves you so much and you can’t help but love him back.
•Feels so genuinely in love and lucky to be with you. Doesn’t fully understand why you chose him but tries not to think about it to often. Loved when you join him during his meal prep time. You guys talk and he makes you try different things to see if you like it.
•After a meal one night you offered to help him with dishes and even after him rejecting your offer countless times you still managed to wiggle your way over to the sink. He compromised by letting you dry to dishes and you rolled you eyes and obliged.
•After you guys finished Sanji lit a cigarette and inhaled deeply. He released the smoke out and sighed contentedly. You smiled mischievously and grabbed it out from his lips and took a drag yourself.
•exhaling the smoke you managed to keep back the coughs that wanted to escape your throat. Needless to say Sanji was very shocked at this sudden new revelation.
•He took back the cigarette in his hand and took a drag of his own, “You never told me you smoked.” A small cough escaped your throat and Sanji quirked a smile, “I haven’t in a while.”
•Sanji raised his brow, “You used to?” You smiled slightly shifting on your feel noticing the conversation shifting in a direction you hadn’t told him about yet. “Yeah, but only once in a while. My ex smoked cigars more than 8 times a day.”
•Sanji nodded and his heart raced nervously as this was the first you had mentioned anything about your ex to him, “That doesn’t sound healthy, I mean I know I’m not one to talk, but more than 8?! He’s basically asking to die.”
•You chuckled and shrugged your shoulders, “Well they can’t actually hurt him, believe it or not.” Sanji’s head cocked in confusion, “How’s that?”
• You sighed deciding now was the best time to tell him, “Devil fruit. Guy was actually made of smoke.” At this Sanji inhaled too quickly and started a coughing fit. You panicked and rubbed his back trying to soothe him through it.
• Once he regained his compuse, “Sorry, mon ange, but you’re not insinuating that you ex is that marine captain Smoker, are you?” You went silent. “Are you?!” He asked more impatiently.
•You looked down and nodded, knowing it was shameful for a pirate to ever be involved with a marine. You looked up to meet Sanji’s flabbergasted gaze, “I know, and I’m sorry I never told you. It’s not fair to you. I understand entirely if this changes your feelings for me. I will not hold anything against you if you don’t want to be with me.”
• At this Sanji straightened up and regained his composure. Quickly putting out his cigarette he cupped your cheeks softly. “Oh mon ange, my feelings for you could never change. If you think this silly thing is enough to stunt my love you are truly mistaken. I love you so much! Something like this, yes, is surprising. However, you’re with me now and I’m the luckiest man in the world to be able to call myself your boyfriend. Do you understand me, ange?”
•Tears filled your eyes as you launched yourself into Sanji’s arms. “I love you.” Sanji smiled and held you close, “I love you too.”
(I know Smoker is a marine not a pirate but I thought he was a good character to put)
Shanks
•Shanks met you on an island and knew he had to take you with him on his adventures. You were a proud member of the Red-Haired Pirates and the proud partner of Red-Haired Shanks.
•Shanks loved to party and get drunk with you. Loved laying sloppy booze tasting kiss to your mouth. And absolutely lost it when you sat in his lap as the rest of the crew partied around you guys.
•You a more on the light-weight side always got giggly when you were drunk. As you sat on Shank’s lap you told him the most random things from your life. Tonight you decided to tell him about one of your old romantic conquests.
• “You wanna know s’mthin crazy Shanks?” You lazily asked him, your head resting on his shoulder. He smiled down at you, “Yeah, what’s that?” You giggled into his neck, “I once dated a clown. An actual fucking clown. You ‘leive that?!”
•Shanks paused for a moment before images of his old buddy Buggy resurfaced. Shanks smirked and looked down at you, “Let me guess, his name was Buggy?”
• “Nuh Uh. You’re s’upid. His name was Bugg- wait how’s you know?!” You sat up quickly.
•Shanks had never been more amused in his life, “I’m just really good at guessing.” You grimaced, “Are you mad at me because I dated someone ‘fore you?”
•Shanks brought you in for a quick kiss, “Nope!” You looked at him shocked, “Really!?” He kissed your nose, “How could I be mad when I dated the clown too?”
• You sighed and went back to resting against his chest, “Feel better now…WAIT WHAT?!”
(I know Ace was supposed to be in here but I truly don’t know how to write for Ace bc I have a shallow understanding of his character and I didn’t want to give a shitty one so I simply just didn’t include him)
Here’s a cute little req I got. Ty @jamieyoo !!
I’m Falling For You
Zosan
Zoro yawned and cracked an eye open to spot the crew throwing the ladder over the edge of the Sunny, “Oi, where are you guys off to?” He asked gruffly.
“We’re just exploring this island a bit, looks abandoned,” Nami explained before hoping over the railing and climbing down.
Usopp followed after her but his head peeked up about to ask, “Are you coming Zoro?”
Zoro thought about it for a second, “Nah, I’m good staying here to nap. Abandoned island probably means no booze.”
Usopp rolled his eyes before mumbling to himself, “It’s always booze.”
“Now we have two people guarding the ship, see you don’t have to be so worried little doctor,” Robin said to a seemingly tense Chopper.
Chopper looked up at Robin then at Zoro then back to Robin, “Okay, I just worry that if left alone they’re going to tear each other apart, then tear the ship apart.”
“No need to worry doctor-bro. I’m sure Zobro and the Cook will do a super job of looking after Sunny,” Franky said before diving over the edge.
Chopper seemed to lighten at this and began his way to the ladder. Robin followed after but before descending looked at Zoro, “Swordsman-San.”
Zoro kept his eyes closed and grunted in response.
“You should use this time to tell Cook-san about your feelings,” Robin said plainly before disappearing down.
Zoro jolted upright, “HAH?!!” But by the time he opened his eyes she was gone, “Damn woman, got no clue what she’s talking about. Tch, give me a break. I have absolutely no interest in that idiot cook.”
Zoro leaned back once more as his arms folded behind his head and landed against the railing. He quickly fell back asleep the sun as his blanket.
A couple hours later Zoro woke up to the sound of knocking wood. Zoro’s eyebrows furrowed as he grimaced and opened his eyes, “What the?”
Over to his left Sanji stood on a ladder in front of the door to the galley. He was holding some party streamers and handing them over the door frame.
Zoro grumbled, “Oi Cook! Can you keep it down? Trying to sleep here.”
Sanji kept his body turned away from Zoro and kept hammering away which only angered Zoro further.
“COOK!” Zoro stood and shouted.
“WHAT?!” Sanji quit what he was doing and turned toward Zoro.
“Keep it down! There is another person on this ship having to listen to your annoying noise.”
Sanji rolled his eyes, “Oh, I’m sorry did I wake the grumpy Marimo from his nap? How rude of me!”
Zoro’s eye twitched as he approached the ladder and looked up at Sanji, “You listen here swirly brows I don’t want to hear it. I haven’t had booze in a week!”
Sanji scoffed, “Goddammit you stupid swordsman, can you stop thinking about alcohol for once and be useful by helping me set up for Chopper’s birthday?”
Zoro grumbled, “Sure whatever. But only for Chopper.”
Sanji was taken aback at this, “You being helpful? Am I dreaming?!”
“Oh, hush.”
Sanji narrowed his eyes and began to descend the ladder. The ladder started to shake and the bottom support broke off making Sanji tip and fall towards the ground.
Zoro with his reflexes opened his arms to catch him. Sanji yelped and shut his eyes awaiting impact but opened his eyes quickly when the ground didn’t come.
“You okay, Cook?” Zoro asked softly as he held Sanji close to his chest.
Sanji’s eyes widened as a hot blush appeared on his face, “F-fine…”
Zoro then set Sanji on the ground his hands on Sanji’s hips to keep him grounded. His fingers absentmindedly kneaded into Sanji’s skin.
Every part of Sanji was yelling at him to rip Zoro’s hands off of him, but he couldn’t. He could only stand there and stare into Zoro’s eyes.
“You sure you’re alright?” Zoro asked.
Sanji nodded as his hand found the exposed skin under Zoro’s shirt. Zoro’s cheeks burned as he leaned forward. Sanji followed suit.
Zoro closed his eyes as be gripped Sanji’s waist tighter.
“Zoro?” Sanji whispered with half lidded eyes.
“Shut up,” Zoro quickly connected their lips.
Sanji tensed before melting into the kiss. Zoro smiled against his lips and moved his hands up to cup Sanji’s cheeks, pulling him in closer. Sanji sighed and pulled away.
Sanji’s cheeks were tinted red. He breathed in deeply, “That…that didn’t mean anything. I didn’t mea-“
“Be quiet, Cook. Don’t need to hear your bullshit excuse,” Zoro’s eyes narrowed.
Sanji bit his lip and looked away.
“Let me see you,” Zoro demanded.
Sanji closed his eyes and kept his head turned away from Zoro.
“I said look at me!” Zoro gripped Sanji’s chin and turned his head to look at him. “There. Better. Now do you want to go talk about it or make out and then some?”
Sanji opened his mouth but no words came out.
“You’re taking too long,” Zoro lurched forward and pressed his lips against Sanji’s once more.
Sanji immediately kissed back. He felt Zoro’s tongue swipe past his lips. He parted his lips and Zoro’s tongue dove in. Sanji moaned and gripped Zoro’s shirt tugging him in closer.
They both pulled away catching their breaths.
“So my room or yours?”
could you do luffy with a constantly tired s/o plus they’re narcoleptic like ace, how would he be with his s/o who is like that. :3
Stahpp this is so good love it. Lowk Luffy is a narcoleptic himself at times 😭
Luffy x GN!Reader
HCS about Luffy and a Reader that is Narcoleptic
-Luffy will love to take naps with his s/o. He uses their narcolepsy as an excuse to nap as well. Having a meeting with the crew? Reader falls asleep and Luffy us close to follow, his snores making the crew’s eye twitch.
-It’s a cute headcanon that Luffy will nap ontop of the Lion’s Mane and even though it’s his special spot his s/o will always be invited to sit with him no matter what. Even if he just wants to hang out with his s/o he will be happy to talk and let them fall asleep and lie their head on his shoulder as the sun sets
-If his s/o falls asleep during a battle Luffy will make sure they’re safe no matter what. Whether it means hiding them in some building, giving them to another crew member to protect or even carrying them until they wake up.
-Luffy will never interrupt their “naps”. He never gets mad because he understands it after growing up with Ace. It actually brings him some nostalgia when they fall asleep.
-Luffy loves giving them little kisses when his s/o falls asleep. He’ll brush their hair and whisper cute and funny things to them. Their spot is definitely in his arms when they fall asleep.
-If they fall asleep during a meal Luffy will eat their food. His s/o will definitely get peeved but Sanji know Luffy’s tendencies and actually makes them an extra meal in case they fall asleep. If they don’t Luffy gets the extra meal.
-In all I think Luffy would find fun in having a narcoleptic s/o
Warnings: mentions of self-worth issues, angsty
The Going Merry rocked back and forth upon the waves. The wood creaked and sighed as the warm breeze made its way along the deck. The setting Sun cast a vibrant orange along the horizon and illuminated the ship.
Y/N sat against one of Nami’s tangerine trees, her legs pulled against her chest. Her chin was placed on the top of her knees and she soaked up the last of the sun for the day.
“There you are,” came a familiar voice.
Y/N jumped a but before turning to see Nami standing behind her with a blanket in hand.
“I’ve been looking for you for a while now. Sanji said I could find you out here,” she smiled.
“Sanji has a big mouth,” Y/N rolled her eyes and turned back around.
Nami giggled and began to approach Y/N, “You can say that again.”
Y/N pulled her lips up in response to that, “Why were you looking for me anyway?”
Nami sat down next to Y/N, their shoulders touching, “Am I not allowed to know where you are?”
Y/N only hummed in response.
“We’re going to reach an island tomorrow by the way.”
“Cool.”
“Cool? More like that’s awesome Nami! Thank you so much for your amazing skills that got us here!” Nami said with a higher pitched voice.
Y/N chuckled a bit at this, “Of course, how could I be so rude. You are really amazing Nami.”
“See, that wasn’t so hard. Here,” Nami opened up the blanket and wrapped one end around herself while offering the other to Y/N.
Y/N accepted it with a smile and also wrapped it around her self, “Thank you.”
“Of course! Now you better tell me why you have been sulking these past couple of days. It’s concerning me,” Nami said as she looked over at Y/N.
Y/N turned to her, opening her mouth to defend herself but quickly closed it. She turned back to face the horizon not wanting to say anything.
Nami nudged Y/N with her elbow. “C’mon please talk to me Y/N. What’s the point of having another girl on the ship if the other girl won’t talk to her!”
Y/N bit her lip, “That’s the thing, Nami.”
Nami cocked her head, “What?”
Y/N sighed and looked down at her lap, “I don’t know. It’s just that…I..I don’t…nevermind it’s stupid.”
“Hey don’t say that. Talk to me, please. I promise I’m here to help,” Nami placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
Y/N looked up at Nami with hopeful eyes, “Are you sure you won’t think of me differently if I tell you.”
“Promise,” Nami smiled.
Y/N drew in a deep breath, “Well you know how I wasn’t born a girl?”
Nami nodded and waited for Y/N to continue.
Y/N looked at her hands, “Sometimes I just feel like I’ll never be good enough, like I’ll never be the perfect woman.”
“How do you mean?” Nami asked sincerely.
“Well, for starters I don’t have the ideal female body. My chest is flat, my waist isn’t tiny, and my body gets really hairy. I don’t feel pretty, especially when we go into the island villages. Everyone looks at me weirdly as if they know. As if they are already rejecting me as a woman. I don’t think I’ll ever be good enough,” Y/N whispered the last part as her face became hot and tears pricked at her eyes. “And all I want is to be able to be seen. To be seen as an equal and like you are seen. I want to be able to wear the clothes you wear and feel pretty and confident. I hate hiding like this.”
Nami paused as she watched Y/N break down. She listened intently to what she said and rubbed her back soothingly.
“I’m sorry, Nami. You don’t deserve these burdens I’m putting into you. Sorry if I’m just complaining.”
“Don’t say that, Y/N! You are not complaining! And don’t apologize for feeling the way you feel. I know I don’t have the same situation as you but I do know what you’re feeling is valid,” Nami paused as she tucked a strand of hair behind Y/N’s ear, “I think you’re pretty. I think you’re as much as a woman as any other woman.”
Y/N looked at her stunned, “You do?”
Nami smiled, “Gosh Y/N, the entire crew does! You see how Sanji fawns over you all the time. You see how Usopp calls you pretty and how Luffy loves complimenting how long your hair is. Hell even Zoro sees how strong and pretty you are.”
Tears fell freely out of Y/N’s eyes.
“Gosh Y/N I wish you could see yourself the way the rest of us do. And if you need help boosting your confidence all you have to do is ask! I’m more than happy to provide you clothes or even go shopping with you to find clothes that you like. That’s all I’ve ever wanted!”
“You mean that, Nami?” Y/N asked, her voice cracked a bit.
“Cross my heart.”
Y/N smiled and threw herself into Nami’s arms. Nami chuckled and wrapped her arms around Y/N running her fingers through her hair.
“If anyone ever tells you differently, you have an entire crew that is willing to beat their ass.”
Y/N laughed.
“I’m serious!” Nami shrieked as she looked down at Y/N.
“Thank you Nami. This means more to me than you could ever imagine.”
Nami smiled lovingly as she cupped Y/N’s cheek and kissed her forehead, “Of course. Now tell me what colors you like to wear.”
Hope you enjoyed!
