As for “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me,” Swift revealed that she wrote the tune “alone, sitting at the piano in one of those moments when I felt bitter about just all the things we do to our artists as a society and as a culture.” “There’s a lot about this particular concept on ‘The Tortured Poets Department,'” she added. “What do we do to our writers, and our artists, and our creatives? We put them through hell. We watch what they create, then we judge it. We love to watch artists in pain, often to the point where I think sometimes as a society we provoke that pain and we just watch what happens.”
Taylor on “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me” and TTPD (Variety)

"So essentially what Star Wars to me was, a boy who is stuck at home and dreams of joining a war. And so it's like, let's tell a story of a girl who is stuck in a war and dreams of going home. It was like a mirror." - Gareth Edwards, 2023

Harrison Ford hating playing Han Solo made him better at playing Han Solo because Han Solo did not want to be there doing those things either.

Cultural Anatomy: Sokka’s Choker
From what I’ve researched, chokers were traditionally worn by some Native American tribes rather than by the Inuit, who traditionally preferred looser fitting necklaces. But Sokka’s particular choker is identical to traditional Alaskan Inuit bracelets, which are made from walrus or whale ivory.

Which means that Sokka might just be wearing a bracelet as a choker. And I can’t think of anything more perfectly Sokka than using an item for something beyond its intended purpose. I can totally imagine how the whole thing started:
Mother Kya: “One day, when Katara gets married, I’ll give her this necklace that Gran-Gran gave to me.”
Lil Sokka: “No fair! Why don’t I get anything?”
Hakoda: “Sokka, this necklace is for girls only.”
Lil Sokka: “Fine, I’ll just make my own necklace.” *ties his bracelet around his neck and immediately starts choking*
Gran-Gran: *sighs* I’ll get more string…

Ok so today I was on the bus with another trans guy and we were talking about how hard it is to get testosterone. The waiting lists, the price, all the doctors you have to go to, that kind of stuff. Except, we were calling it ’T’, like you do when you’re both closeted and in public.
Then suddenly the elderly lady sitting behind us was like ‘young men, either I’m going crazy or you both have never heard of supermarkets, they have shelves full of tea there! Do you need directions to one?’
To which my buddy starts to explain, because why not. ‘Well you see, we’re both trans, and… ’
The lady didn’t wait for him to finish his sentence. ‘Oh no, I don’t mind that at all! Now do you want to know how to get to a place that sells tea? I’m actually heading there right now!’
We let her take us to the supermarket. We let her show us, excitedly, where the tea was. We both bought loads.

Not me finally listening to the back half of TTPD aka The Anthology only yesterday (4 days after the album drop) and getting hit STRAIGHT IN MY MALADAPTIVE DAYDREAMING READER GIRLY FEELS by “I Hate It Here” just to come over to TSSQ today and see that exact thing on your bingo board. I feel so seen!
Am being courageous and sending this off anon even though that makes me anxious, because it’s silly to be anxious when Sarah is a wonderful angel of a person.
Okay cool well I could cry HI FRIEND. I'm so proud of you for being so brave and also so happy to hear that your first little dip into TSSQ post-Anthology was a convenient and fated little moment of perception. I so hope you're enjoying TTPD:Anthology!

the way the black dog feels so intimate and extremely personal and then knowing that taylor actually plays the piano herself on the studio recording of it, which she usually doesn't do, makes it even more so

ending midnights with “is that your key in the door? Is it okay? Is it you? Or have they come to take me away?” and then immediately starting ttpd with “I was supposed to be sent away but they forgot to come and get me” we never stood a chance
