Hey everyone! I've been a little quiet on the blog as we ramp up events back on the discord server! If you're not in it, just find me, same username! While I'm still slow to get back to articles and such, here's a new thing we did: I now have a youtube channel! Some of our meetings will be recorded and posted here with a transcript. Slowly I plan to evolve how I can reach people with this knowledge and my perspective. Also, I wanted to say that while I absolutely have loved doing this as a volunteer, I'll need to provide some way for people to support me, should they choose to! This might look like being able to tip me here on Tumblr, or pay for tickets to events and lectures I may host in the future!

A visual scale of what 1g mushrooms might look like. Spoiler Alert: use a scale always. Potency can vary even between 1g of the same variety, or between 1g dosages of different varieties. This is why I recommend folks to grind up their mushrooms and take in a capsule, tea, or edible form. This will help make dosing more accurate. Trying a new variety? Start lower. Mush love, Be Safe At The Parties!

I periodically post my safety tips on the Lex app.
It bothers me how many posts I see every month expressing having been scammed out of money for one reason or another. Stop sourcing drugs off of a bot laced app, folx! Be smarter about it.

Recovery and Wellness Update 1
I recently shut down my instagram, so I am continuing the updates here. We'll start fresh with just where I'm at now and leave everything in the void that was my instagram for the sake of time and my effort. I've been dosing 300mg-400mg of Golden Teachers or Z Strain (soon I will be trying True Albino Teacher and then later maybe Orange Caps). I usually do a Lemon Tek or chocolate. This small amount is what I call a "Museum Dose" and is more for the mood lift and sociability. It's been quite therapeutic for me, bringing up greater momentum from the past effort I've put into self improvement and therapy. Since I already have a grasp on what Somatic Experiencing is, and have done so much work on understanding my interception (or how it's different, since I am not allistic), I'm able to be more in touch with my feelings and respond with more presence. I was dosing weekly, but I think now I might move to every other week as I had a dream last night that showed me on a type of bridge, high above the trees in a town. I was walking with someone and we were throwing dried mushies into the town below, talking about making a TikTok of us going down there and finding all of the dried mushies we dropped. The bridge then descended into the ocean and I had to turn around and try to climb back up the slope it made. It broke it off and I clung to it, while the person I was with just leapt into the water like it was nobody's business. I woke up feeling fear. Now perhaps this was a dream with no meaning, or maybe it was a response to the stress of all that I am having to do this week, or it could be my mind telling me it's time for a break. I really don't know. What is likely to happen is that I will see if any of my symptoms I am treating return while I wait 7+ days to dose again. If I'm feeling like it's a good time, however, I will dose again at my usual schedule. I have no consequences dosing every week at this small of an amount. At lower dosages, it seems to clear the system faster -- but we still don't have enough research on this. I'm also taking 1g of lions mane everyday, which by itself, has helped me a fair bit. All in all, I find greater safety in my body and am uncovering things about myself that I used to know, and then buried, because of trauma, or ongoing rejection. One of the biggest things I'm having to unpack lately is the trauma of being constantly rejected as a Queer female-presenting person who had often loved the wrong kind of people, who never returned that love, and who used me for what I could provide. I've also been rejected in so many communities due to neurodivergent traits, and even by other neurodivergent people. Seattle is a really rough place to be, and it's full of icy rejection. Then there's the constant rejection by society for still masking, still trying to take care of my immune system, and even for not being allistic in a highly toxic anti-vaxx world. I'm rejected everyday when I read someone say: "You have pronouns in your bio, your opinion is invalid". I'm rejected everytime someone makes a misogynistic remark, or poo-poos ethical non monogamy or kink. Society just loves clicking up into circles, segregating itself apart from one another. Society absolutely LOVES LOVES LOVES participating in things that go against the very understanding of conscious love. And that is truly, at the root of it all, where my rejection trauma comes from. Instead of practicing love, society is drawn to practice hate, segregation, and elitism. But what do I know. I'm just someone with a "Mental Illness" (/sarcasm).

idea: a fantasy fungus species that spreads through sound. the fruiting bodies produce the specific “sporesound” to do so. interesting, right?
now imagine a fungivorous bird that specifically eats the sound mushroom, but is allowed to do so as it learns to mimic the sporesound, spreading the mushroom further as the bird flies around. a culture of humans learns that the mushrooms are edible this way.
so the mushrooms become a cultural thing. these people domesticate the fungivorous birds to grow sound mushrooms, the sporesound is used as background noise in their music, etc etc.
pretty cool imo.

Today is a dosing day. I am mixing Golden Teacher and Z strain together as that’s what I had left over after making my crush some chocolates. Intended dose is 350mg soaked in lemon juice then strained in a cheese cloth into lemon ginger tea.
Mush love and be safe at the parties!

Why Do Shrooms Make Us Sweat? - By Mycolancer
Tumblr media
Hey! Mycolancer here. I recently started experimenting with higher (but still pretty low) weekly doses to manage my depression and wicked intrusive thoughts about off-ing myself. It was getting so bad that even microdosing based on Dr. Fadimann's protocol wasn't working too well anymore. I'm happy to say I am doing better now, but I noticed that, just like many of my pals, I'm sweating! Why? So I decided to do some research, as one does. This is what I've found. This is a short synopsis, nothing too indepth, but I hope you enjoy this article regardless!
Tumblr media
Let's break down the potential biological reasons for sweating in each of these scenarios:
Increased Heart Rate:
When you consume magic mushrooms, the active compound psilocybin is converted to psilocin in the body.
Psilocin affects serotonin receptors, leading to changes in neurotransmitter activity.
Serotonin also plays a role in regulating heart rate and blood pressure.
An increase in heart rate can stimulate the body's thermoregulatory system, leading to increased sweating as a way to cool down the body.
Changes in Body Temperature Regulation:
Psilocin affects the serotonin receptors in the brain, influencing various physiological processes, including temperature regulation.
Altered perception of temperature may occur, leading the body to believe it needs to cool down, resulting in increased sweating.
Anxiety or Nervousness:
Psilocybin and psilocin can influence mood and emotions by affecting serotonin receptors in the brain.
In some individuals, the psychedelic experience may induce anxiety or nervousness.
Anxiety triggers the body's "fight or flight" response, which includes an increase in heart rate and sweating as part of preparing the body for potential challenges.
General Physiological Response:
Sweating is a natural physiological response to regulate body temperature.
Changes in perception, sensory experiences, or altered states of consciousness induced by magic mushrooms may impact the brain's control over bodily functions, including temperature regulation.
The body may respond with increased sweating as a general response to the altered state induced by the psychedelic substance.
In summary, the biological mechanisms involve the impact of psilocin on serotonin receptors, which can affect heart rate, temperature regulation, and emotional responses. These changes can lead to an increased need for cooling through sweating in various scenarios during a psychedelic experience. I hope you enjoyed this short article. Remember, to go low and slow if you're not experienced! Mush Love, Mycolancer
