Glimpses of the past can bring up traumatic experiences. I pray we all are moving on and doing our part to heal. I’m growing and forgiving. I refuse to reside anywhere else if it doesn’t improve my mental health.

Is it just me or is there a Sabrina Claudio song for every situation? This piece is a part of my rough writing. It is very raw, very spur of the moment because it came to me in conversation with one of my closest friends. I want to try to get away from always making my words rhyme because poetry is meant to be soulful and emotional. I’m hopeful that is what I’m giving with every word because I feel all of this deep. It’s all around me.

I’ve been writing about love a lot lately so I decided to challenge myself to write about someone that I didn’t love and this short and straight to the point piece was born☺️.

Some people are born with that passion that spills from their mouths like word vomit. It's even more beautiful to read when you are in full alignment and understanding of what is being said to you. I love a man that communicates effectively, intelligently, and wholeheartedly.

CBD is an acronym for Certified Black Damsel, but it has a double meaning. The character Beauty is based on me and what I imagine my life would be like in an alternate universe if different decisions were made in my life. We are the same age and have the same issues but a different approach. She is in her late 20s and still trying to figure out her life like most of us are.

My generation was raised to believe we had to have a house, a career, a marriage, 2.5 kids, and money in the bank. Meanwhile, the closer we get to 30, we realize it won’t happen as we thought. I know some people way older with great careers and still aren’t fulfilled. People having strokes in their 50s due to stress. I would hate for that to be me, so I’m taking the time to follow my dreams. I’m sailing on faith, and I know that God will allow this career change to be beneficial in every way. If I don’t see it now, I know I’ll see it in time because this is my purpose. The next thing I will be working on is publishing a book of poems. I’m divinely guided and eternally grateful🤲🏾.

I’m just an outline of what I use to be, constantly evolving, steadily revolving 🎶

I finally understand why people go after their dreams full speed ahead.

My first episode and start to Beauty’s story.

I was casually scrolling through my very dry Twitter feed when I came across something that I really needed to see. If you’re anything like me (a perfectionist) no matter the feedback I get on my writings I always believe it’s not good enough or maybe a reader will pick it apart. It’s not the criticism that I’m afraid of it’s the fear of failing at something I’ve done all my life that keeps me from writing books like Kira or doing audio albums like Reyna.

Although, I’ve always been a writer and have won awards, received marvelous scores on essays and papers for my writings, there is something that prevents me from truly believing that I have that “oomph” and can be a successful writer. Reading this as short and straight to the point as it is, has struck me so deeply that I’m ready to share some of my writings. I’m done letting doubt/fear rule my world.
