I know it鈥檚 not hard to point out reactionaries hypocrisy when it comes to like safe spaces or hug boxes or whatever but genuinely how much of an echo chamber do you have to exist in for you to think this is a reasonable thing to say

really tired of neurotypicals sometimes y'all
tw: abuse mention
i've never had a neurotypical friend and that's not on me, rest assured. neurotypicals have lied to me, manipulated me, abused me, attacked me, and harassed me all of my life, and for what? just? existing? apparently. sometimes i legitimately do not like y'all and it's just been after years of this stuff. i don't care whatsoever if someone says it's insensitive. the way neurotypicals treat us is disgusting and so, yeah, i generally think poorly of neurotypicals. people get angry at me for this, but instead of being mad that i, someone who has been abused by almost exclusively neurotypical people, and now have cptsd, can y'all really just change your behavior? i hear neurotypicals say that they are not ableist and support autistic people, but even so, in my experience, most neurotypicals still do something. do you make fun of people who mistake figurative statements for being literal? do you make fun of people who don't always understand jokes? do you get irritated when someone asks you to explain a joke or explain if you are being serious or sarcastic? these are a few minor things, but if any neurotypical people are actually reading this, think about these things and consider whether or not you have ableist beliefs, even minor ones. prove me wrong that y'all seem to almost always hate us.

oh ok so basically every negative habit is just an autistic thing. cool. /s
Tumblr media
(screenshot of an assignment i have to do)
autistic traits are not negative, we are just different from neurotypicals. it's ok. and i am tired, so godamn tired, of being told, both directly and indirectly, that my inherent body language is bad. i am proud of being autistic and i won't stop being proud. we are whole. we are wonderful. we are beautiful. we are not less. i won't stand for this crap.

april is autism acceptance month and so I thought it would be a good time to remind everyone to never support autism speaks or other institutions, organizations, or "charities" that aim to cure, medicate, or "fix" autism. autistic people do not need to be fixed. autism is not a disease or a disorder. autism is a natural human variation.
Tumblr media
i drew this around 3 years ago as a reminder to never use the blue puzzle piece. use the rainbow infinity symbol and red instead!

Tumblr media
I got this fucking ad today
In case it wasn't clear:
Fuck ABA

Trying to make autistic children repress their natural traits, feelings, and expression is abuse
I'm so done with this shit
I am proud to be autistic
We are beautiful, we are good and fine the way we are, we are wonderful

Since this is gaining traction, I'm reblogging to add some other shit I've been facing:
Having to go through like multiple 5-30 email threads to get my accommodations honored in this one class where my professor refuses to acknowledge that a 2k-3k word essay we get 3 weeks on is NOT an exam (she only says it's an exam to try and override accommodations)
Constantly being treated as if I have the same energy capacity as an abled person
Getting random stink eye when I ride my mobility scooter
Getting stares when *I* am the one getting out of the car in the disabled parking space, because I'm young and look fine other than my mobility aids, so of course I must be faking it /sarc
That time I explained my conditions to my grandma and she seemed very understanding but then a week later wanted to take me to her rheumatologist because she thought I had rheumatoid arthritis (I have none of the symptoms other than joint pain)
Being treated like a buzzkill by some of the fringe of the group (i.e. people I do not like) cause I can't do certain activities with my friends
Someone asking me if they can ride my scooter
Someone telling me I'm too fat for my scooter
Someone making fun of me for my scooter, calling it "tiny af" (the guy rolled down his car window while stopped to act like my "ride" is inferior to his. He had a dumbass car btw)
Now onto focusing on systemic ableism...
Lectures. Do I even need to say more lmao... they're so bad like I so do not learn when I'm sitting in a lecture hall. My brain just cannot process it
Having to pay for aids. If I wasn't disabled, I wouldn't have to pay for mobility aids, accessibility software, general medical bills, etc. If you claim to believe in fairness you should be understanding how this is ableism
The city streets. Absolutely horrendous. The bricks are uneven as fuck and it's rough getting around.
Once again... the way that I'm not allowed on the bus
I can't think of any more rn bc I'm tired but
Yeah !!
I still maintain that what really causes me to struggle with being disabled is abled people and abled centered society.
Yes, being disabled inherently impairs my functioning in certain ways, regardless of what abled people do.
Yes, I'd be in pain no matter what.
But that's just a part of being me. I resent it sometimes, sure. But goddamn it, I just can't take abled people bullshit.
Truly, I just want to live my life, and inaccessibility and ableism are a massive barrier to doing that.
Some problems I've encountered just recently:
Being told I can't bring my mobility aid into a building and that the front desk "might call the cops." I had to leave the building.
Being told I can't bring my mobility aid on a bus. I couldn't ride the bus.
My insurance claim for a mobility aid being denied.
Constantly having to get on my professors so that they follow my accommodations.
Having to do extra work just to get and maintain my accommodations, because apparently they must go through a ridiculously thorough process to prove I'm not faking it.
Being stared at in public when I use my mobility aids. This one isn't the worst but it makes me very uncomfortable.
Some problems I've encountered over my life:
Being called slurs.
Having proof of my disabilities and still not being believed.
Being constantly asked "what happened" and people getting very uncomfortable when I tell them it is permanent and lifelong (somehow they very often think it's a sports accident, as if I look like I can do sports ha.)
People not waiting for me because I'm "too slow" (including so-called "friends.")
Not being able to enter buildings because they are inaccessible.
People smearing piss and shit all over the disabled toilet.
Fighting tooth and nail to get a diagnosis because doctors apparently don't know how to do their job and also don't believe you when you say you're in pain (except my psychiatrist, he's a real one fr.)
Being harassed.
A lot more lmao.

Fucking infuriating how my ex was the first to say "I love you," he said he'd run away with me if he could, he said he couldn't wait to live with me, to be with me forever, he said that he thought often about a future with me, he said that he thought about marrying me.
Then he ignored me for an entire week and then broke up with me, saying that "life is too short" and that he wasn't actually sure how he felt about me.
I got him a big bag of presents and made him a cake from scratch for his birthday. All I got for mine was a broken promise to go out to dinner with me.
Look for the signs that they aren't who they say they are.
