Apparently this needs to be said:
Spouses/partners/significant others of disabled people are not "heroes", ok?

PSA: Please for the love of God stop using the word "cretin". It's a slur for people born with congenital hypothyroidism (CHT, that used to be called cretinism) that causes physical and intellectual disability.
I think it's unrealistic to expect a blanket moratorium on insults about intelligence, but words like "mong/mongoloid" (anti-Asian slur later applied to people with Down Syndrome), "spaz", "downie", "midget" and "cretin" refer to people born with specific developmental disorders. If you care enough not to use the "r–word", please steer clear of these as well.

Look, you either care about medically vulnerable people or you don't. It's not a fashion choice you can put on when vulnerable people see you and then take off when you want to go back to not caring.
When you're unmasked you're increasing the risk of spreading a lethal/disabling pathogen around. It doesn't matter if the vulnerable people in your life are in the room at any given moment because you're helping to spread the thing that makes it so they can't be in the room.
Don't post unmasked selfies at events or in crowded public spaces and then claim that you "mask up around vulnerable people" when a vulnerable person calls you out for it. You don't "mask up around vulnerable people" because we don't have big Sims-like cones over our heads to light up and show you that we're vulnerable. Not everyone who is vulnerable even knows that they are.
And the real, cold, harsh truth of it is everyone is vulnerable to this one. It's messing up blood, organs, brains, and whole-body systems in ways we're still learning about. It's making more vulnerable people with every spread. Those of you not vulnerable now are really just pre-vulnerable.
Be the leftist/progressive/intersectional hero you fantasize about being. Mask up, avoid superspreader events, test often, encourage others to do the same.
Or at least stop lying to yourself about it because the lies aren't fooling any of us who actually care.

[Note: This is actually a rerun from over a year ago, so if you think he means only one side of any current conflict, you're wrong. He means all the civilians in any conflict. He meant trans folks at the time of the original post. He means all good, innocent folks just trying to get by.]

Jean-Luc Picard @SpaceDadSupport Nobody should have to continually argue for their basic right to exist. If you are part of a group forced to do that then please know I am on your side and wishing a world with less bigotry for your future. 3:29 PM · Feb 25, 2024

Okay, I need to get this out of my system:
If you can look in the eyes of a child -- a toddler -- a BABY -- and you see someone that deserves to be destroyed, your soul has been BADLY poisoned. If you are threatened by the mere NOTION that a child exists out there that isn't white, or isn't Christian, or isn't straight, or isn't cisgender, or isn't neurotypical, or isn't mentally healthy, or isn't physically healthy, or doesn't come from money, or fails to meet any other arbitrary standards we have placed on other human beings to justify abusing them en masse, you really need to get that sorted out, because my God are you making things difficult for underage human beings that you will never personally meet in your LIFE.
A CHILD. You're threatened by CHILDREN. HYPOTHETICAL children. You've been convinced by an institutional depravity that groups of people not only need to be wiped out, but killed while they're young. Like they're not human beings, they're just a mold that can spread, they're just maggots that will grow into flies. You think of other human beings this way.
You let someone else get THIS deep into your head, let them teach you to hate THIS DEEPLY, and now the muscles that you use to hate with in your brain are stronger than anywhere else. You only want to hate, because hatred makes you feel good. You think about people -- think about children -- suffering in ways Dante himself couldn't dream up, and it causes you euphoria.
Either the human brain has strayed too far from the beaten path of evolution, or we've been told that the bar to clear to be considered human is to have our heads full of weapons. The only way some of the people in power see the world can be improved is if entire bloodlines are wiped out -- as a preventative measure -- and somewhere down the line the commonwealth adopted this mindset as their faith.
I could just about scream.

Wow the medical field has come so far in the treatment of migraines 😀
(I say as I'm lying in bed for the 9th day with no vision, light and sound physically hurt, and one side of my face is in complete excruciating pain)
Some things about me (context)
I've had a migraine for 2 years and I've tried and failed all the things the doctors have wanted me to and so now I'm just here with a constant migraine for an indefinite amount of time with no pain relief (so I'm a little aggravated at the medical community at, well, for a lack of better words, failing me.) Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk 😌

One thing abled people need to realize, is that when you ask a disabled person "what happened", not only are you inquiring about a person's medical history, which is personal information, but also you are potentially asking them to relive what might have been the most traumatic time of their life.
An accident that left them unable to walk again. An illness that wrecked their life. A natural or man made disaster that took their loved ones.
Your curiosity simply is not worth digging up someone else's pain.

only i am allowed to be upset about being disabled. not the people who refused to believe i was. not the people who refused to accommodate me. not the people who chose to forget to make it easier for themselves. not the people who got rid of accommodations because they were getting in their way. not them, me.

The original disability pride flag, which featured brightly colored zigzagging stripes over a black background, was created in 2019 by writer Ann Magill, who has cerebral palsy. In order of appearance from top to bottom:
Green is for sensory disabilities
Blue represents emotional and psychiatric disabilities
White stands for non-visible and undiagnosed disabilities
Gold is for neurodiversity
Red represents physical disabilities.
The stripes are displayed on a faded charcoal black background which commemorates and mourns disabled people who’ve died due to ableism, violence, negligence, suicide, rebellion, illness and eugenics. The dark background also represents rage and protest against the mistreatment of the disabled community.
