Ok listen up

If you think the T should be dropped from the LGBTQ acronym, I’d like you to go and do a quick little bit of digging on the history of Pride, the movement you are gatekeeping. Then come back and tell me that trans people, a large majority of the founders of this community, don’t belong here. Just you fucking try. Stop erasing queer history in order to fit it into your exclusive idea of what Pride and queerness is. You are playing right into the hands of those who would seek to ruin us all.

In a recent staff post, tumblr staff said that only a quarter of tumblr is lgbtq, and I don’t think anyone’s really convinced of those numbers. Ik this post might not reach that many people but…

Just a daily reminder that it’s ok to have complex identities that no one apart from you understands. Always feel free to use as many labels as you like because your identity doesn’t exist to make sense to other people, it exists so that you can better understand yourself <3

been thinking about the word queer lately and it just means so much to me and it's so hard to put into words

like yes "not gay as in happy but queer as in fuck you" but also it feels like so much more

queer feels like a snuggly soft blanket you can burrow into

queer feels like coming in from the cold to find a warm mug of hot chocolate made just for you

queer feels like a tight hug from someone you care about

queer feels like a friend you haven't seen in ages but when you get together it's like you were never apart

queer feels like the first crisp autumn day where you can put on a fuzzy sweater and boots or the first spring day when you can take off your jacket and let the sun warm your skin

queer feels like an afternoon nap with a cat snuggled in your lap or on your chest or at your side purring so softly

queer feels warm and happy and soft and inviting and welcoming

queer feels like "I love you" and "you belong here"

if you describe the community as “LGBTQIA+” in your bio, why are you inappropriately using the LGBT handle? LGBT represents the original community before straight girls inserted themselves because they wanted to be included. Being LGBT represents a biological unchangeable preference. This is not true for most people who identify as queer, non-binary, etc. These people rapidly cycle through identities and this is encouraged. You will rarely or never see a gay or lesbian person become straight. These “queer”, or non-binary identities revolve around superficial aspects of identity like personality, clothing, and voice intonations. Being transgender was always about having a fixed, rare medical diagnosis which involved transitioning as a coping mechanism and solution. These are different communities and you do not represent LGBT. Just say that you want to cross dress and everything would be cleared up here…
