THE OLDEST VIEW - DISPERSAL
Our favorite teen filmmaker is back! Kane Parsons, known to many as Kane Pixels, has created an intricate and very disturbing universe which all began with the creepy pasta story of The Backrooms. In this newest film of his ongoing horror series, Kane takes us back underground where he last left us, trying to flee a papier-mache giant and fighting to get back to the surface.

DEAD ENDERS
Now, can't you see yourself scrolling through Tubi and finding a 90-minute version of this short film? No? Well, I certainly can, and this is the type of B-Horror movie fun I can get behind. Practical monster, quirky characters, creative low budget vibes, and plain fun and silly! I'm sure the team of Fidel Ruiz-Healy & Tyler Walker have a script they're pitching to capitalize on that scenario, but in the meantime, let's enjoy Dead Enders for the cool short it is.

ALBERTO AND THE BEAST
Sasquatch is in season. With the upcoming release of the feature film, SASQUATCH SUNSET, it looks like audiences will see a rise of bigfoot content. This clever and satisfying short film from John Paul Lopez-Ali offers up a buddy sasquatch story showing us the anti-horror version of coming across that hairy giant in the woods.

LUNGS
Anything post apocalypse is pretty popular nowadays. From features, to TV shows, and most certainly short films, creatives are trying to explore new avenues to tell stories in that backdrop. Kieran Moreira instantly creates impressive world building, using CGI and practical effects to create a barren wasteland. There's always crazy, bloodthirsty marauders during the end of the world, so watch how a young woman battles them here.

EVERY HOUSE IS HAUNTED
While NIGHT SWIM the feature was a misfire, the short film it's based on was really cool. Director Bryce McGuire is back to the short format with Every House is Haunted, a horror short that's not really a horror film but rather an experimental drama. The indie vibe created by the production design and cinematography, works well for the story. Does this need to be adapted into a feature? Nope, but most shorts shouldn't.

BLANK SHORES
I love how the talented Georgina Campbell is constantly playing in the genre space, appearing not only in popular horror features like BARBARIAN, but also starring in sci-fi short films. Here her skill is on display as a woman exploring the boundaries of technology that allow her to come face to face with personal trauma.

RIDE BABY RIDE
Commercial for the new Tesla? A nightmare sequence from an upcoming ELM STREET movie? This well-made film could easily fill both of those categories, but at the end, what the viewer gets is an entertaining suspenseful film. Full of metaphors and layered with horror film references, filmmaker Sofie Somoroff should be applauded for creating an impressive film in under 7 minutes!

FOODLOSSLLA
He gave us GODZILLA MINUS ONE, now Takashi Yamazaki and his talented team unleash another kaiju on Japan... this one made of trash! Created for the food company Ajinomoto, this commercial is epic and fun, giving us a glance at the talent and creativity that won an Oscar for the epic success of everyone's favorite giant lizard!

CLOSING TIME
Is this short film based on the Semisonic 1990s song? Well, why would I ruin the surprise. Suffice to say, it takes place right when a diner is about to close and things quickly get very dark and serious.

PLAY ME
Influences of films like MEMENTO and PRIMER are all over this, and in a great way! All phases are impressively executed. From Caleb Phillips direction, to the acting, sound design, and cinematography, every element works together to create an intensely satisfying viewing experience. Special shout to actress Lindsey Garrett, who is able to create a layered and believable character in ten minutes. Now, do as the title states and hit play!

SCOOTER
Apparently rope and duct tape can subdue a demon. If you look past some of the plot holes, you'll get a kick out of this horror short. With the tone falling somewhere in the dark humor category, one can tell filmmaker Chelsea Lupkin is having fun with the gore and action moments, that bring life to the suspense of an angry demon cutting down anyone it comes across.

THE FORE-MEN
Falls under the "looks cool" category. Still don't know what exactly the plot is, there's enough here with characters and special effects with a post-apocalyptic setting that genre fans will enjoy the dystopian tale. What the monsters are? Death? Aliens? Mutants? Inter-Dimensional beings? Well, that's up to you to pin down!

THERE WILL BE MONSTERS
There will also be blood (but no Daniel Day Lewis). These monsters had it coming, so nobody feels bad for them. While the setup is predictable and the story isn't anything to feed a bigger project, THERE WILL BE MONSTERS has good acting and is well shot, making it a fun horror short.

IT VISTS ME
Here's a subtle, yet very creepy horror short. What works best for me in this film is how director Cameron Gallagher and writer Jeremiah Lewis are able to balance the various elements at play like religion, depression, and belief (in various forms). The tense pacing, along with the strong acting creates a sense of uneasy for the viewer, which is what one wants with something of this genre!

THE BREAKTHROUGH
Does accidently killing someone bring a couple closer together? Sure does if you're Greta Lee and Ben Sinclair. Lee who is currently gaining acclaim and fame for her role in PAST LIVES, here stars as a wife going to couples counseling with Sinclair, when they end up in a really dark, but comedic situation which involves getting rid of a body.

LIFE OF A GIANT
How can I be late posting Kane Pixels (aka Kane Parsons) latest mystery mini movie??! By now, you know I'm a big fan of Kane. From his talent of building a layered fictional world, to his technical expertise in generating fully photo realistic characters and environments, Kane's talent is special! Having taken us through the Backrooms and beneath the earth, he gives us more backstory about the Giant inside an abandoned mall.

FOREVER SLEEP
When done right, the genre of Science Fiction is a highly effective vehicle to explore and elevate the human experience. Filmmaker Zac Stracener uses a man's life memories to really hit the direct trauma of suicide, or more specifically, the mindset one is in to get to that point of considering. Moving moments, powerful imagery, and a heavy resolution makes one think about the ripples effects one person's dark decision has for those around them.
