Empaths experience anxiety attacks, panics or episodes when surrounding emotions are too much, constant draining and tend to hide in a bubble after being around such loud emotions and having bare social interactions. Empaths are literally drained after unwillingly soaking up so much and are often diagnosed with mental illnesses and/or begin abusing substances like drugs or alcohol in a way to numb others emotions or to separate their emotions from others. Just for people to think it’s a game or some cute, quirky, trendy word and minimize that constant anxiety, fragility and lostness you feel as just someone who’s empathetic or emotionally aware…this is not a game. We are going through it okay. No one talks enough about the true struggle it is to be able to uncontrollably FEEL what others feel especially in waves and especially when you don’t truly understand or know how to differ the two.

Unpopular Opinion: Apathy is just as important as empathy. You need to be able to just take the back seat and not care about something just as easily as you can care about something with your whole heart.
It will save you a lot of pointless arguments and a lot of begging, trust me. Gives you more energy to care for important things
