you'll never convince me that empathy's a real thing, what happens is you see a person in a bad situation and imagine being in their place so you put yourself in a bad mood too, you're not "absorbing or sharing their emotions" you're just making their bad situation about you and assuming they feel the same way as your imaginary self in your imaginary scenario, and you may get it right sometimes but without any guarantee exactly because there's no actual connection between the two emotional states

The girl with thorns in her blood, so sharp they would make her bleed inside, yet she learned to live with the pain and find the joy in life. Then one day she was pierced by another's thorns, and where the other's thorns pierced her skin, she bled and as her drops of blood fell to the ground, roses would sprout and bloom. She discovered what her purpose was, why she had suffered so much. She understood that when pain is shared, joy and beauty are found in the embrace of an empath.

Real Royalty
Once again they kowtow
To his royal highness on his high horse
Clackety-clacking without a care
For acknowledging the damage
In his wake, a trail of tears and heartache
While you're looked down on like a pauper
Peasant too low to stoop
Out of the loop and cut short
With no legs left to stand on and
Not enough support, nary any sympathy
The king makes his merry way
And all you can do is watch
From the sidelines you witness everything
Side-eyeing the sight of his reign
Of terror unending trying to refrain
From calling out his imperialist ways
Like paying off the Pied Piper
To play luring misleading tunes
He thinks he's the golden Sun
With you his brooding moon
But you don't deign to play his games
For you always have been
Forever will be
The real royalty
Written for a friend and inspired by a typo prompt: the king and the short of it

Empaths be like
"I make wild assumptions about people with no evidence. I'm proven wrong very frequently, but I never learn my lesson and I keep assuming that I have some special gift."
It's possible to have a special ability to detect lies. But that involves noticing patterns that others don't notice, such as their statements contradicting each other, their words not matching their actions, or a motive to lie. It's also never 100% accurate, and it's very likely a trauma response, so someone who has that ability would never brag about it.

I know we're always saying this, but I have something to add about how empathy has nothing to do with morals, and it's actually dangerous to perpetuate the idea that if you lack empathy, guilt or regret you're gonna have a harder time behaving well.
I've seen empaths do shitty things while feeling guilty and then repeat the same mistakes, and I'm not even talking about small careless mistakes but things that ruin another person's life. I've seen empaths defend rapists, I've seen empaths abuse their children, I've seen empaths manipulate, lie, all sorts of it. And I'm sure you've seen it too, prisons are full of empaths yet they like to pretend that "those aren't real empaths, they're psychopaths deep down, they're narcissists, they're dark empaths", whatever excuse they can come up with to separate themselves from the monsters who do wrong.
This is actually dangerous and the reason why so many, empaths or not, do shitty things and lay a veil on their faults, thinking they don't have to worry about their own actions because they're standing on the right side of the line that divides good and evil.
Hold yourself accountable, give up on scapegoats and excuses, we're not the lie you tell yourself to sleep better at night and the real monster to fight is the one that's never looked in a mirror, so face it.

An acute empath is someone who doesn't just understand you but also experiences you, gets into your very core and goes through exactly what you're going through - your emotions, your thoughts, your feelings - so deeply would this empath be embedded into your system that it will be almost like experiencing two lives at a time, one of his own and one of yours. That's the kind of connection that these empaths bring to the table. They'll absorb you in your entirety, kiss your scars, be like a balm to all your aches, and adore even your blemishes. Some felt to be loved was more important, other felt to be understood was more important. Here then is a third breed, absolutely distinct, they experience you inside-out, that's like someone literally diving deep and naked into your unfathomable depths and you'll feel them penetrating inside your being, permeating through the most hidden and unknown layers of your soul, literally breaking down all your walls, and you would stand there mesmerised by the way their energy fields play with yours, getting to the very central core of your mind. Such ones when they appear, they come with a bang, you've no other choice but to surrender to their compelling and vibrating energy...

I got this book a while ago and went back to reading it after months of burnout and being busy. Usually I don’t finish chapter books after reading the first few pages, but after going back to this I want to read more. It’s a very loving, tender, relatable, and perceptive book that I highly recommend. The author written this book with love. For a while now, I’ve been on a journey discovering myself and this book has really helped me in embracing my sensitivity more and I think others should do the same 💗🫶🏾

God, how I will miss you. When I imagine not talking to you every day, saying goodbye and leaving you, it makes me feel so weird in my heart. My throat is tight and I feel the pain welling up in my chest. What's funny is, I know I will be okay. This too shall pass. But God, right now, I just wish we never had to part. @connectingwithsoul

My heart mourns,
My heart aches,
Consumed,
Aflame,
For an empath,
There is no other way!
