Misty Ink and Radio Waves
Well, I guess I'm doing this. Yeah...
Fandom: Hazbin Hotel
Summary: It wasn’t as if Diana was a sinner. In fact, she lived a life of good intentions and empathy. So how in the H-e double L did she land in Hell? Simply a promise to the devil, or correction, Lucifer… by her father. Yes, somehow, because his promise of his soul was shifted at his death, leaving Diana footing the bill when she died… in a ridiculous way, too.
So, she landed in Hell and really had no idea how to relate to this new reality. Luckily, Charlie, Vaggie, and the others are there… Also, it seemed like she had gained a new responsibility. Oh, boy… Can she catch a break?

Glad I'm not the only one that sees Luci for who he is and not just a toxic Fifty-shades of Cray-cray.
Well, I'm ready to watch the Fandom talk about how toxic and horrible Lucifer is, as if this isn't his part where we have to help fix him just the same as all the other brothers. Mammon who got so greedy he broke out in fights and went to claim you, Asmo who literally charmed and controlled his own family and part of the Devildom, Levi who flodded the entire Devildom, and Belphie who planned to fully invest in locking us up and forced his siblings (even Beel) to enter a slothful almost depressed state.
The train scene is not meant to be a romantic happy fun time, it's supposed to make us uncomfortable. Troubles and problems covered up by a smile and showing off is his whole deal! This is his weakness! His struggle with control! He's working so hard to pick things for us/MC and being so overly confident and pompous because the man is panicking! He's sweating, taking any detail and choice into his own hands because he knows if he gives MC free reign that they'll leave him, while giving us the false illusion of choice to keep us complacent.
I'm not defending what he's doing right now because it's very clearly meant to be a shitty and toxic mentality, but I feel like I've not seen anyone hold the other brothers to the same standard as they do with him. (I remember how hot under the collar the fandom got when possessive Mammon took the stage.)
(And isn't that ironic, considering Lucifer is Pride and the Eldest and most of the responsibilities get shoved onto him even in game)
Anyways, this is my small Ted Talk. Luci Lover till I die. Could talk about him for hours. I hope we get to use his Little D to hop into his brain and see how upset he is inside.

Lesson 35 Nightbringer: Can't you see him breaking?
Spoilers ahead. Just because. Well yeah. It's about Luci.
Tumblr media
I don't often go on rants about lessons or etc. However, I feel like Lucifer is getting a really bad rap. Now, don't get me wrong, he's possessive, abrupt and well... Lucifer. However, Lucifer is the steely demon unobtainable on the outside and our rich dark chocolate center that's bitter and oh so addicting on the inside. Especially in NB have we seen more soulfulness and less ABC generic dom. However, it's clear after the end of 34 and all throughout 35 that he's breaking inside. He has his theories. He has his thoughts. He's trying to go through the stages of grief without really accepting that the only way he can show he loves you is by letting you go... which something Pride has the ultimate difficulty with anyway. But it wasn't long ago that Lucifer had to let go of Lilith. It wasn't long ago that he fell from the Heavens. It was literally a blink. So loss is fresh and he's just NOW learning to cope with his new life. That includes you. He's so OBSESSED with you. Your care for his brothers. Your generosity and sweetness, but still enough to hold your own. Now your magic is being threatened and Solomon's having issues taking you both back to the human world? Lies. Lucifer has known they were lies from the beginning. (Let's not forget that Lord Diavolo has his own lie detector too. Just an honorable mention here.) However... He has to be in denial. He has to bargain. He has to do WHATEVER he can that pride will allow him to... to keep you. For him. For his brothers. For you. Pieces of his heart. You are now one of the big pieces and he could live for the rest of eternity just happily having you at his side. Now... the scene on the train. Scary. Something is wrong. Something is really really wrong... and I think he wanted you to figure it out away from his brothers... because he doesn't want them to know his own secrets, pains and lies. He doesn't want them to hurt. He doesn't want them to know that he isn't strong enough to be the villain in your life and you will eventually leave them and not just to the human realm, but gone forever. Rant over. I love what they're doing with Luci's character arc in NB.

Scenes from a Nightbringer Devildom
Lucifer walks into the planetarium and frowns at the group huddled.
Satan: How long is he going to stay up there? Beelzebub shook his head. Belphegor: Mammon, come down. I want to see MC do it. Asmodeus laughed and waved.
Asmodeus: Mammon, come on! MC was only joking. Mammon shook his head and groaned as he held onto the floating light.
Mammon: Not until MC puts it away! Lucifer sighed and rubbed his forehead before approaching the group.
Lucifer: What exactly is happening?
The group peeled apart and MC was standing with a book open in front of her. Satan: Mammon stole MC's bracelet and now is being threatened to get turned into a rat. Lucifer: A rat. What for? MC smirked evilly.
MC: I was going to set him loose in the Demon Lord's Castle. Lucifer blinked and then smiled.
Lucifer: Carry on. Mammon: LUCIFER! LUCIFER SAVE ME BROTHER.

Here's the thing; there's a reason I find Solomon's actions justifiable. Let's not forget that Solomon grew up in an age where demons eat human souls and fight with the celestial realm over humans like they're property.
To delve into concepts of his view, humans were cruel to him and each other, but fear works wonders. His own parents were afraid of him. He was basically raised by Barbatos during a horrible time in history and brought into wisdom at an EXTREMELY young age. His evaluations and travesties he witnessed had to be scarring.
Then there's the breakdown of his desire to bring the humans to the table. He sees humans as the balancers and underdogs. He basically wants to lead humans to power and creating a stand. With power comes great responsibility.
So, when he's living through the exchange and seeing this nearly helpless human make pacts not out of power and manipulation, but loyalty and love... Solomon observes and shifts his understanding. But don't forget, those traits are extremely ingrained. The fear of letting demons get a leg up, the pride in being a step ahead, and the desire to keep gaining power.
Fast forward to Nightbringer. This man, huMAN, has grown so attached to the person who is able to do what he can but without spoiling their genuine kindness, but this person is magnificent. This person is thoroughly attached to these beings. This person is so beautifully sweet that his heart throbs. He's so AFRAID to lose them. He's so afraid that they will choose the Devildom and humanity will be lost in the muck. He would.
I feel his confession about Asmodeus was more a guilty drunken admission to who he was. He was so lonely without MC and drank himself silly. He revealed one of his worse transgressions to someone you love in hope that you will still love him. Still see that he has changed and that it isn't all our nothing. Solomon is hoping that at the end of the day, you will see he knows you are going to be greater than even him with the renewal of your pacts. Without you, he wouldn't be able to live. Without you, he is still that little boy locked in the basement. Without you, his heart is gone.
Solomon maybe a gray character, but he is growing. He is changing for the better with you. He wants humans to grow too. He needs you or he doesn't work right anymore. Solomon is afraid for the first time in his life to need someone because he loves you. He isn't really human by action anymore, but your kindness and love bring that back in the most beautiful way. You are his essential drive now: together humans are safe without ownership.
Demons desire souls. Angels want to build fences around the human experience. Solomon wants to use their power to bring humans to the table. His methods may not be the most empathetic or kind... but you make him both now. You are the key to humanity and he knows it.
After finally seeing the way Solomon's pact with Asmo was made, I'm thinking this man is SO lucky to be immortal. Because with how protective the brothers are over each other ( especially Lucifer ), I can perfectly imagine them getting together to go straight up murder him after Asmo tells them what happened.
It's no wonder Lucifer despises this man, his first introduction to Solomon ( in the og timeline ) was probably Asmo telling him and the brothers that he had gotten a pact with him while completely drunk and out of his mind. Or in other words, he had been manipulated into giving someone complete control over him while not even being in a state where he could give proper consent.
And going back to what Lucifer told us when Solomon first made an appearance in omswd, you can see his clear resentment towards him:
Tumblr media
What he's basically saying is that Solomon is the type who'll do ANYTHING to get into a pact with a demon if he has the opportunity to do so.
And remember, this is one of the dialogues you get when you give Lucifer a certain item in PRESENT ( sure, he says "before" and we don't know how long ago it was, but it was for sure after the whole thing with Asmo ).
Tumblr media
( the credits to this image go to @boozye, by the way )
And that combined with his behavior when telling this story of how he met Asmo on two separate occasions, you can see he feels no remorse at all, to the point where he's laughing at Asmo's reaction to waking up and finding out he had basically signed away his freedom to a random stranger.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And when we show disapproval over this, he basically brushes it off as: "that's the way you're usually supposed to treat demons"?? Like... WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK, SOLOMON???
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the way he says this feels so icky, he's talking about demons like they're nothing but toys, something he can use and do whatever he wants with it.
And maybe I'm reaching by bringing this up, but this is literally how the devs chose to describe the way Solomon views the brothers:
Tumblr media
( credits to the image: @enbyobeyme )
So yeah, Solomon is REALLY digging a hole for himself right now.
And going back to the Lucifer thing, I wonder how he feels about Solomon being the only one who was able to follow MC into the past. Because as much as he has grown more tolerating of Solomon over the course of the game, I sure as hell wouldn't consider them friends.
This isn't a Solomon hate post by the way, I love his character and how complex he is, I've just been holding off till we got the full story from him to post this. 🐢

I could definitely see this and it bears weight. If Michael decided to align with Lucifer overtaking the realm together, it likely would have collapsed time, but being that time is irrelevant to beings like Barbatos and Michael, he could technically slip around in other realities. It had bugged me to no end that Michael spoke to us after the coma. Whether past or future, he shouldn't KNOW about us currently. That also means he knows about our lineage, our power, and what we mean to Solomon. Also, there is tons of foreshadowing about the brothers' longing for the celestial realm, which includes tons of illusions. We saw all the work Nightbringer is putting in to reminding them of their past lives and having US work to say they're better off now. The appearance of the angels is also something interestingly divisive. Sure it could just be plot, but I reckon it has something to do with the whole intricacies laid out in front of us. That includes Solomon's confession to Simeon which was hinted.
All in all, the Nightbringer has motive to put us at risk. Solomon is terrified to lose us, so he is bound by his own desire and love to keep us from being a tool or used. His warnings throughout the entire lessons so far aren't just about the current demons and the state of the world... they are about possibly having to turn our backs on the brothers and leave this reality should the Nightbringer attempt to use our love against Solomon.
What a way to pin all your favorite stars in the sky if you make each realm eternal night by having someone they love gather them for you.
- MICHAEL -
Feel free to share more arguments and we'll put them on the list! General spoiler warning for all of Obey Me as well as Obey Me Nightbringer! [last updated: June 18th 2023] - RELATED - -> canon info about Nightbringer -> Barbatos -> back to the masterlist
- PRO -
all we know for certain is that Nightbringer is either a demon or an angel since he wanted Solomon to choose whatever side he himself belongs to [10-A, NB] -> in the same conversation, Solomon tells Nightbringer that he sounds "just like a demon" when being threatened by him, which is something you wouldn't say to someone who is actually a demon [10-A, NB;] -> Mammon says that Michael is like a demon pretending to be an angel [43-19, og; pic below] -> all the demons MC knows should also be aware that MC has no problem with trusting demons, yet Nightbringer believes they have trouble trusting him because he is a demon [12-2, NB] -> the reason Adam claims Nightbringer is a demon is because Nightbringer told him he is, though that might have been a lie [8-16, NB] -> though some characters sometimes claim otherwise, we have already seen that angels are very much capable of lying, as Luke happily lied about the Angel's Halo considering turning into a cat café just so Satan would cover his shift [49-12, og]
Tumblr media
Michael posesses the ability to send people through space time as evidence by him sending MC from the Celestial Realm of the past back to the human realm of the present [44-18, og] -> Michael later does not return MC to their own time, which would align with Nightbringer wanting MC to stay in the Devildom of the past for the time being [13-1, NB]
MC and Michael have spoken twice before the events of the game. The first time was when MC received the Ring of Light, the second when Solomon accidentically sent them to the Celestial Realm of the past via his cooking [38-17, og + 44-18, og]
while they have never met face to face, MC and Michael have so far met in void-like/dream-like spaces filled with light. It is implied that MC couldn't really make out his face and only heard his voice [38-17, og + 44-18, og] -> their meetings so far are similar to that of MC and Nightbringer, though with Nightbringer it was darkness instead of light [12-2, NB] -> Adam describes his encounter with Nightbringer in a similar fashion, saying that he couldn't make out his face and only heard his voice [8-16, NB; pic below]
Tumblr media
according to Adam, he heard trumpets—which are usually used to mark the arrival of an angel—when Nightbringer appeared [8-16, NB]
Michael says the exact same things to MC after they received the Ring of Light as Nightbringer does MC makes their promise to Lucifer, with the only difference being their level of politness [38-17, og + 12-2, NB] -> side by side of the conversations in both English and Japanese
Michael and Solomon definitely know each other—and might even be relatively close—as Michael was the one that gave Solomon the Ring of Wisdom, he knows Solomon accidentically discovered the elixir of immortality, goes on a small tangent about Solomon until he stops himself, and Solomon wonders if he can call Michael "Mike" [29-5, og + 44-18, og; pic below + 23-7, og]
Tumblr media
the way Solomon descirbes getting the Ring of Wisdom from Michael mirrors Adam's encounter with Nightbringer, since both were in a troubled situation and some supernatural being showed up and offered them guidance [29-5, og; pic below + 8-16, NB]
Tumblr media
Nightbringer talks to MC right before they go into the coma back at the Fountain of Knowledge, meanwhile Michael is the one that talks to MC when they wake up from said coma [12-2, NB + 13-1, NB] -> it is also implied that Michael is the one that awoke MC from the coma [13-1, NB]
when saying that MC managed to grow closer to all of the brothers, Nightbringer specifically points out that becoming important to Lucifer is no easy task [12-2, NB]. Mammon mentions that Michael was basically obsessed with Lucifer, so it wouldn't be surprising for him to highlight Lucifer specifically [43-19, og]
Nightbringer is ready to use MC in order to achieve his goals [10-A, NB]. Michael doesn't seem to mind using somewhat underhanded tactics every once in a while [Angelic Demons event, og]
what better way to introduce a character that they have been hyping up for Four. Whole. Seasons.
- NEUTRAL -
we don't know why exactly Michael was able to lift the curse brought upon MC. We know it can't be due to powerful magic since Solomon should have also been able to do so in that case, and Simeon mentions that an angel's blessing can't lift curses [12-14, hard lesson, NB]
speculation on a motive, but Nightbringer says that MC says if MC ends up happy, he'll also end up happy and cuts himself off before he can elaborate any further [12-2, NB]. Michael later tells MC that the only reasons he's helping them out is because he knows MC makes the brothers happy and he still cares about them too much to harm them [13-1, NB]
again, only speculation, but the reason Barbatos could be so mad at Solomon is because shortly before the events of the game Michael might have gotten into contact with Solomon and to Barbatos, it might seem like Solomon is siding with the angels
unrelated if we truly are in the past, but when Michael send MC back to the human world of their time he mentioned that no one would remember this encounter, and we later see that everyone involved believed they were simply dreaming [44-18, og + 44-16, hard lesson, og] -> for some reason, all the characters seem to have strong ties and emotions about the guest room, despite the fact that—at this point in time—it's just a regular room [7-A, NB] -> there are also other instances of characters claiming that something they should have no connection to feels familiar or triggers some kind of reaction [Strangely Nostalgic, daily chat with Luke, NB + Keywords, daily chat with Mammon. NB; pic below]
Tumblr media
- CON -
Michael explicitly tells MC that—should they continue to align themself with Nightbringer—the Celestial Realm will no longer tolerate their behavior [13-1, NB]
they hyped this man up for four seaons straight (Luke literally mentions him in 2-13, og for the first time) only to not deliver anything, I wouldn't be surprised if they'd make it a fifth season
- PERSONAL OPINION -
Anyone who's seen my bio on my main blog knows where I stand on this. But tbh, I mainly just...want Michael to finally have something to do??? Like I mentioned in my last point, they kept bringing him up over and over and over again in both games, yet they never let him play any real active role in the plot. He keeps lurking in the background and keeps on being mentioned every once in a while but that's it. They literally had Satan say that he thinks Michael is planning something back in season 3 [43-19, og] and so far haven't done anything with it. Just give the man something to DO, Solmare
Also I just feel like I need to defend the entire Michael is Nightbringer theory since I was one of the first ones that posted about it lmao (on my main blog). + out of the two, I am still convinced that it's Michael rather than Barbs. We don't know a lot about Michael but the things we do know largely seem to support that theory imo
All that being said, Michael is just the safer option for Solmare. With Barbs, they have the problem of him already being a love interest, and depending how the reveal is handled, it might throw a lot of people off and potentially even make Barbs overall hated in the fandom, which is not something you want when your characters are your main money makers
Also I wanna punch Michael in the face and if he's Nightbringer I have more reason to do so >:(

Barbatos is Pissed... Clean up the books!
Barbatos doesn't like messes. He is immaculate and demands precision...
He adopted this little sorcerer who vowed to keep the Fountain of Knowledge clean and who clearly hasn't lived by that promise. I bet that was how Solomon get Barbatos's pact in the first place... So, Barbatos is pissed because Solomon didn't clean his room. Heh.

Burning of the Grand Façade
I decided to take my little drabble further and go into the concept! This is going to be an interesting look into Solomon/MC relationship in Nightbringer.
Pairing: Solomon/ F!MC
Summary: Oriel is suffering. She struggled from the beginning in seeing her demons, each and every one of them, not know who she is. Becoming invisible to those she loved most. It took incredible determination to fight through it.
Luckily she had a piece of her old life with her. Her mentor, friend and human companion on this adventure. Solomon has been the strand to keep her from falling beyond repair as she struggled with the relearning of her demons in a different light. Several centuries before her birth to be closer to accurate.
His sturdiness had given her a foundation that was lost. When did that start? Oriel will have to take a hard look at the man who really had been steadfast their entire friendship. Had something been there all along, really?
Rating: Mature (For likely language and adult concepts)

Thoughts on Solomon and the Nightbringer
Spoilers ahead.
Tumblr media
Anyone else get the feeling that Adam was a distraction to who the human really was in the prologue to Nightbringer? Thirteen gave us the rundown on Solomon, and really talked about the destructive path he was on at one point. She also talked about how Barbatos stole him away to the Fountain... What if it wasn't the Barbatos of that present time necessarily that did so? Validity to my thoughts. Adam was dead when brought to the Devildom. He talked about wanting to go with his love to the Celestial Realm. The prologue mentions "A dark Path" that the human was on... but it doesn't really address Adam. At least it doesn't appear that way. However, Solomon was brought from a dark path and realigned on something a bit more productive to Lord Diavolo's vision. Barbatos can see both past and present. Many different realities as well, I'm sure. As for what angered Barbatos... I can imagine that Solomon in that present time was having his go at collecting demon pacts. He likely realized that demons saw him as a pawn and went to work with the Celestials after the unrest. There's a reason Solomon earned a token from Michael. He had forsaken his oath to him. The years down the line, that is ONLY when Barbatos is able to make nice with Solomon. This is current to his betrayal.

Everything to Me.
Solomon X f! MC (Nightbringer)
Sometimes the Devildom held demons of a different type. Especially in the past. These ones could only be buried for her. He saw it in her face when she sat down.
"I miss them," she sighed and slid down to Solomon's thigh.
Solomon's fingers carefully fluttered through her hair. He had to command his heart to slow. She was being vulnerable with him. She was allowing him to be her shelter for once. A small crack in her armor that he would gladly mend if she let him.
"We will keep working on it," he murmured.
She exhaled and her lips curled in the slightest. "Thank you for coming to help me. I don't know what I would do without you."
He exhaled slowly and deepened his stroking of her silky strands. Wishing away her worries and hurt. "I couldn't leave you to do this alone. You're skilled, but by no means could I expect my apprentice to do this alone."
There was a horrible silence as Solomon continued his soothing of her broken heart. How devastating that he, a wise sorcerer of remarkable power, couldn't be what she really wanted. Nevermind. He needed to help her.
"You know what I miss most?" She asked.
"Hm?"
She breathed and wiped her eyes as tears dribbled to his pants. "I'm not everything to someone anymore."
She was so breakable. He felt the tingle of familiarity and hurt. That devastation of being locked away from light and joy.
"You are to me. That's why I followed," he whispered. How could he let his tongue run away from him. How dare his treacherous tongue!
She turned and stared up at him. Glimmering eyes that grew and then a soft smile appeared on her lips. She reached up and caressed his cheek.
"We can do this together," she breathed.
"Together," he smiled.
Maybe this wasn't a horrible thing... maybe she would actually see him as more than background noise. Maybe she could love him as he undoubtedly loved her.
