Hero sat on the side of the building, their feet dangling off the edge. They liked the feeling of it, liked playing with their own mortality. Maybe that was why they were so good at their job.
They leaned closer to the edge, peering over at the street. Cars crawled like ants trapped in the mid afternoon traffic.
"If not for your own peace of mind, then for mine, please get away from the edge."
Hero didn't need to look to know Villain. "Surely you should be pushing me off it."
"Hero, stop it."
Hero sighed and got to their feet, turning to face Villain. "Why? Does this make you... uneasy?" They rocked backwards on their heels.
"Hero, stop-"
Hero could tell exactly when Villain had had enough. But that wasn't too hard, because they darted forwards like a lightning bolt and pulled Hero into them with a strong hand around their wrist.
Hero felt like their breath had been stolen in that single touch. "Sorry," they said, soft and breathless.
Villain rolled their eyes. "You better not do that again, you hear me? If you die, I better be the one who kills you."
Hero brushed a stray lock of hair from their cheekbone, and Villain's gaze softened. They pressed their forehead against Hero's. "Promise me, okay?"
Hero rolled their eyes. "Fine. I pinky promise you get to murder me."
"Good." Villain replied, and then they kissed them - so softly Hero felt it might be a dream. They leaned into their touch, as if they could merge and become one if only Hero put enough force into it.
Maybe this was a better thrill than standing on the edge of buildings.

"Villain..." Hero whispered. "I'm engaged."
Villain took a step backwards, then let out a surprised bark of laughter. "Do they know?"
"Know?"
"That you're hopelessly in love with someone else, my dear."
Hero flushed. "I don't know what you're-"
Villain waved a hand through the air. "Don't play with me, Hero."
Hero stood up as tall as they could manage, folding their arms across their chest. "I'm not."
The other observed them quietly for a few seconds, deliberating, before stalking across the room towards them until they were less than a step away. Hero hoped they couldn't hear how fast their heart was beating. Even if the engagement wasn't exactly their choice, it was still wrong to do - whatever this was.
Villain's fingers came up to brush Hero's cheek as they tucked a loose strand of hair behind their ear. They leaned in slightly, their breath fanning over the top of Hero's ear. "Let's not be ridiculous, my dear."
Hero took a deep breath. "I-"
Villain rolled their eyes, muttered a quiet I guess we're doing this the hard way, and kissed them. They smirked internally when Hero kissed back, hands tangling in Villain's hair.
Villain only pulled away when they were both out of breath and panting. "So. Do they know?"
Hero shrugged, leaning their head on Villain's chest. "I've never met them."
The other laughed again, and Hero could drown in that sound. "Tell them."
"I can't- my parents-"
Villain stroked Hero's hair. "You're not a child, my dear. If you want me, you'll have to tell them." They shrugged. "That simple."
Hero took a deep breath before giving their response.

CWs: blood, broken bones, abuse (implied domestic)
"Not again."
Hero smiled weakly, wiping a mix of blood and tears from their cheek onto a ruined sleeve. They shrugged one shoulder, cradling the other arm to their chest.
Villain sighed. "Get inside."
Hero shuffled through the door, taking a seat on a barstool and reaching for the medicine box with their good hand.
"I'll do that." Villain said, slightly irritable as they shut the door.
Hero settled themselves into the seat, presenting their broken arm with a flourish. "Is it time for another lecture? Some more they don't love you, they nearly ripped your arm off?"
Villain sighed again, wrapping a sling around Hero's arm.
"Well? No stop going back to them?"
"You clearly don't listen to me, so what, exactly, would be the point?" They pulled the bandages a little too tight, and Hero winced. "Sorry."
They sat in silence for a few minutes, save for Hero's occasional pained gasps. Villain didn't want to meet their eyes. They felt bad about what they'd said, of course, but they weren't sure if they could say anything to make it better.
But Hero spoke first.
"I do listen." they said, voice barely above a whisper.
"I know."
"It's always everything I've been thinking for the past few months. But then they say something - and it's everything I've been wanting. I want to believe it. And then I do, or I pretend I do, and then he tries to rip my arm off and I turn up here again."
"I know."
"I'm not going back. I promise."
Villain looked up at Hero's face, letting themselves stop applying salve to their cuts for a second. "Do you?"
Hero nodded fervently. "I promise. They'll probably try to kill me, but-", they let out a short, pained gasp of laughter, "I guess they do that anyway."
"If you go back, I'll still be here to help you."
"I know." Hero blinked softly. "That's sort of why. I don't need them to be sometimes there. I have you always there."

Tumblr media
PLEASE READ
So as of tomorrow, the Kids Online Safety Act, is set for markup as of July 27 at 10:00 am. And for those who aren't aware, this bill, if passed, does not protect kids. If merely eradicates privacy, freedom of speech, and unlawfully searches and seizes everything you say and do on the web.
It will censor everything the government does not like and if you want "unrestricted access" you will need to prove you are above the age of 18, which will most likely mean you will need to upload some kind of ID. Additionally, if you need to upload your ID, there is no guaranteed protection that your image or the ID itself will not be swiped or sold like how Instagram/Facebook/Twitter did when they sold data to the Russians.
This will also be harmful to kids, especially those to have a bad living situation. KOSA does nothing but police the Internet for everything you say and do on the Internet. It will censor medical information, history, information, and restrict and limit, if not outright ban what can be posted on social media.
Sites like Ao3 (Archive of Our Own), Wattpad, Tiktok, Tumblr, etc.... EVERYTHING will be affected, art especially. And what's more, is KOSA passes, it will be a gateway to pass all the other bad internet bills like the RESTRICT ACT, EARN IT ACT, COOPER DAVIS, CSAM, etc.
The Internet will turn into a hellscape for everyone; kids, companies, and adults alike!
The picture above, from @dontdelete.art, is a call to action in protesting these bad internet bills. As of today, July 26, we need to protest against this bill for our privacy and our freedom. Call your representatives and senators, AND ALSO call the Commerce Committee as they are the ones overseeing this mark up meeting.
The Commerce Committe's numbers are:
Majority: 202-224-0411
Minority: 202-224-1251
Call them and tell them you oppose KOSA, tell them the dangers, tell them how it breaks our first and fourth ammendment rights and how it violates our privacy.
We only have one more day before it goes to mark up, so let's make it count. Spend today speaking out on KOSA, post on social media talking about the dangers of KOSA, call and email your representatives, senators, and the committee!
DON'T SIT IDELY BY, MAKE TODAY COUNT!

Just wanted to clear this thing up
Friendly reminder that if I haven’t answered your ask the same day, it means either:
I want to treasure that ask forever
I dont feel up to social interaction
I didnt have time, and ended up forgetting about it
What it does NOT mean:
I dont like getting asks
You’re bothering me by sending asks
SAME APPLIES FOR UNANSWERED TAG GAMES!

"You're a bad person." Hero whispered.
"So are you." Villain said softly, pressing their face into Hero's hair. "It's neither of our faults."
Hero let their face drift closer to the Villain's neck. They wanted to feel again, so badly. They wanted to throw themselves against them, to fall from their tightrope and just feel the exhilaration of anything other than endlessly balancing. "Villain, please."
Villain hummed into their hair. "You can step back." they said, bending so their lips brushed Hero's ear. "If you like."
Hero felt like they were going to collapse. They might have preferred that, to put some distance between themselves and Villain. "Villain..." They were almost ashamed of how breathy their voice came out sounding. "Please."
"I can leave if you want." they whispered, pulling back to let their eyes meet Hero's. "Just say the word."
Hero let their head fall to rest on Villain's shoulder. "Don't be cruel." They closed their eyes, savouring every breath they took.
"What was that, my love?" Their hands were soft on Hero's waist, holding them carefully, as if they were made of glass.
"I'm yours." they whispered. There was a sort of relief to saying it out loud, even if they felt like their voice was going to shatter with the weight of it. "So please," they drew in a shuddering breath, "don't be cruel."

this is like two whole posts in one month arent u so proud of me
TWs: blood and the coughing up of it, swearing
42
Hero forced themselves up from the ground, the ground soaked red with their blood. The coppery smell was thick in the air, suffocating.
"You're going to," - they coughed and blood dribbled down their chin - "Regret- regret that." They only just managed to choke the words out before erupting into a series of coughs and blood.
"Am I now?" Villain pushed themselves off the wall they'd leant up against, taking a lazy step towards Hero.
"Yes." They spat blood onto the concrete.
"I could punch you in the ribs once and you would snap like a twig, Hero, don't even try. You're practically wilting where you stand."
Hero coughed again, stumbling to stable themselves against the wall. "I will kill you."
"Hero. Come on, baby, I've won. Aren't we done yet?"
More blood onto concrete. "Don't call me that. And don't pretend you give a shit if you kill me." They wiped their mouth, their hand coming away still connected to a string of blood mixed with saliva. "Don't pretend you don't want to. At least- at least a little bit."
Their mask of indifference flickered. "Hero, please. Just give up. I'm not killing you and you fucking know it."
"Hero please." Hero mocked. "Do I fucking know that, Villain? Do I? Have I fucking known anything since you left me for dead in a fucking jail cell?"
"Oh, cry me a river. You were fine." Villain took a step closer as they spoke, stopping in their tracks as Hero staggered backwards, clinging to the wall as they slowly slipped down it. "I lived there for years. You could handle two days."
"Two days? Like it would only be two days." They scoffed, slipping all the way and landing hard to sit on the ground.
"Two days, like two days later when I went back for you and you were gone, Hero, that kind of two days." They crouched down in front of Hero, keeping their distance, and reached out a wary hand. "Hero, please."
Hero coughed again, blood running down their neck like a gruesome necklace, and took Villain's hand.

it's me again did you miss me

"So this - this is who you've been fucking?"
Sidekick was shaking like a leaf, but Hero couldn't tell if it was from fear, anger, or both.
"Sidekick-" they began, and then they closed their mouth. They didn't know what to say.
"You told me you loved me." Sidekick whispered. "You told me I could trust you."
"I never meant for this to happen-"
"Yes, you did. You fucking wanted this. You wanted the thrill, you wanted the excitement, you wanted to make it hurt."
"Sidekick, I would never-"
"You're a liar, Hero. I'm not just mad at you as a partner. I'm mad at you as a friend - hell, I'm mad at you as a person."
Tears were pricking in Hero's eyes. "Please. Please listen to me, I-"
"No, Hero, because you know what? You like this. You like to hurt people. You tell yourself you don't, but I see the way you 'kindly volunteer' to take over torture for the younger ones. When I got stabbed? Don't think I didn't notice - you were practically drooling."

I need to know the context of 40. I need to. 👀
ok so what i'm hearing is... more vague continuation with a slight sprinkle of exposition if i'm feeling nice?
Part 1
40 - Part 2
Henchman lay flat on their back, staring up at the ceiling. Beside them, Villain was breathing softly and evenly as they slept, their hand slung possessively yet carelessly over Henchman's body.
Henchman wanted to lean into their touch, to melt into them, so so badly. But they couldn't.
Tears sparked in their eyes. Villain's hand slipped off them and hit the mattress with a soft flump as they rolled onto their side, facing away from them. They would not let them see them cry. They could have everything else - everything, but Henchman would not cry.
They groaned, far too awake to try to sleep now. They swung their legs out of the side of the bed, ignoring the slippers left for them by Villain despite how soft and comfortable they looked. Of course they were helplessly, hopelessly, irreversibly Villain's, but they could at least pretend otherwise.
They crossed to the window, pulling the curtains open just enough for them to slip through onto the window seat. They sat there for a while, silently gazing up at the clouds covering the moon, dozing with their head against the wall. It was almost peaceful.
"Henchman?"
Henchman started, unsure if they'd fallen asleep or just zoned out. They blinked up at Villain sleepily. "Hi."
Villain paused for a moment, tilting their head to the side. "What are you doing?"
"Couldn't sleep?" Henchman offered. They turned to stand up, their head resting against Villain's chest so that they wouldn't have to meet their eyes.
Villain pressed their cheek against the side of Henchman's forehead. "I'm sorry." they said, so softly that Henchman almost thought they imagined it.
They let out a soft breath in response.
Villain pulled back, running their hands up and down Henchman's bare arms. They didn't know if the goosebumps had risen from their touch or from the cold. Unusually tender eyes gazed into Henchman's. "Come back to bed?"

Part 2
Villain pushed them up against the walls, lips pressing against their neck. Henchman let out a gasp as Villain's hand tangled in their hair, tugging gently.
"Villain..." they whispered softly, their breath hitching on the last syllable.
Villain hummed in response, biting softly on the exposed skin of Henchman's neck. They pulled away, looking into Henchman's eyes. "I love you," they whispered, softly. Gently, almost.
"Villain, please." they said, breaking away and crossing to sit down on the bed. "We're already married. It's irreversible. You don't have to lie."
Villain undid their cuffs, rolling up their sleeves as they sat down beside Henchman with a soft sigh. "What makes you think I'm lying?"
They leaned their head on Villain's shoulder. "You are."
Villain pressed a kiss to the top of Henchman's head. "Oh, my darling. I vowed to love you forever. I can't just break a promise like that."
Henchman's fingers trailed nervous little patterns across Villain's torso. "You can." They looked up, gaze dancing around Villain's eyes. "I'd forgive you."
Villain wrapped their arms around their Henchman. "My darling, I wouldn't forgive myself."

CW: abduction, crying, injuries, threats
Hero shoved Civilian into the car, slamming the door behind them. Sidekick started the car and they sped away, swerving along the winding roads away from Supervillain's estate. Civilian whimpered, curling up on the backseat, trying to keep far away from Hero.
"We're here to rescue you. You don't need to be scared." Hero said. "We need you to tell us everything you know about Supervillain."
They closed their eyes. They had always been afraid of this, even if they pretended they weren't. Someone kidnapping them to try and get to Supervillain. "I'm not telling you anything." they said. They might cry easily, but Civilian was stubborn.
"You have to. It's for the greater good. We need to know to be able to save you."
"I'm not telling you anything." they repeated.
Hero took them by the shoulders and shook them roughly. "Tell us!"
The car swerved suddenly, sending Civilian toppling off the seat and hitting the one in front. They sat up on the floor, blood in their hair.
"You have to!" Hero said, harshly tugging them back onto the seat. "We're rescuing you!"
"You're hurting me!" Civilian said, tears pricking at their eyes.
