Since a lot of new fans are seeking fics… here are several different kinds! Not comprehensive by any means; just a few of my bookmarked personal favorites all in one place.
EPISTOLARY
Thirty-Five Owls – The Grindeldore fic that all others can only aspire to. Read it first, read it last, read it again and again and find new things to love about it each time. Perfection.
Ad Familiares – A late-night conversation in letters.
SUMMER OF 1899
Let Perpetual Light – A complete narrative of their summer together that may be my favorite take on it. Its use of Ariana’s perspective and deconstruction of the Hallows mythology are simply brilliant.
Golden, Ripe, and Rotten – Three glimpses into that summer in Godric’s Hollow, from its beginning to its end.
The Motion of Mutable Things – Absolutely beautiful lyrical language; a poem in prose.
Those Faded Old Glimmers – The course of the Albus/Gellert relationship split into five movements.
Order of the Parrot – Five times Albus and Gellert tried to predict the future, and the one time Gellert did.
Every Shining Moment – “Here are three stories,” Gellert says, holding up his fingers. “Which one is the prophecy?”
Spring Cleaning – As Dumbledore prepares for his death, he has to make sure that some memories die with him.
Light Bringer – Self-promo ;) Those two months of insanity from Albus’s POV.
POST-1899
Living On – Ariana doesn’t die, and history… shifts. A spectacular, dark glimpse of what might have been.
The Prisoner’s Remorse – After Sirius Black’s betrayal, Professor Dumbledore finds work for Remus Lupin as a prison guard in Nurmengard, where there are quite a few things to be learned.
same apartment, roommate’s gone – Gellert disguises himself as a certain Hogwarts professor. Utterly delightful.
Nemesis – Three times that Grindelwald as Graves ranted about Dumbledore and made someone feel uncomfortable.
Relationship Counseling – Grindelwald wants to win Dumbledore’s heart back, and keeps asking a captive Graves for love advice.
In Motion – A Yule Ball is being held at Hogwarts. MACUSA’s best auror is invited, and can’t resist asking the Transfiguration professor to dance.
nobody else but me – Albus Dumbledore discovers that no matter how hard you try and move on, you can never really escape your past mistakes.
A Confederacy of Deceivers – Albus Dumbledore stops deceiving himself, 45 years too late.
Beautiful Nightmare – Albus Dumbledore wakes up with his partner, Gellert Grindelwald, in a world that they rule together for the greater good.
Strange Comfort – Gellert needs a distraction. The memories, he finds, don’t die so easily.
dear forgiveness, i saved a plate for you – Almost thirty years after Ariana’s death, a stagnant and repressed Albus Dumbledore decides he could use some counseling.
Time Parts the Hearts of Men – Gellert arrives in the afterlife to find Albus already there.
Happily Ever After, Being an Account of a Victorian Fairy Tale in Five Parts – In an alternate universe in which Ariana wasn’t killed, Albus and Gellert attempt to track down the Hallows. Pure, wonderful fluff.

Fortress: An Anatomy – There is a fortress in the mountains and it watches the world. It watches its beloved Master and it watches itself. Nurmengard is the name of that place.

The clarity of destruction – Gellert is a Seer, but some things are better left unseen.

“Yeah?” Lance sighed, warm and giddy, clearly not absorbing how serious the words truly were. Keith nodded his head for a few seconds, not trusting himself to speak around the size of his emotions. He was suddenly brought back to the years alone on the whale, when all he’d had to keep him going was memories of his friends, of Lance.
“Yeah.” Keith said, more certainty in his voice now. He reached down, hesitantly threading his fingers through Lance’s and giving his hand a squeeze. Lance tensed next to him. “I still do.”
“I mean, I’m right here.”
“Are you? You still seem pretty far away.”

That’s it? What an understatement. What a ground-shaking, life-altering understatement. What kind of reckless idiot can just say something like that with so much tangible certainty?
Keith’s expression slowly softens as he watches Lance struggle. An amused tick curls at the corner of his mouth and he leans back comfortably in the chair by the bed, seemingly relaxed now that he had unloaded all of his thoughts in one fell swoop. He’s unaffected by his own words as all else and Lance can’t help but wonder how long he’s been holding onto them.

Lance is melting under the intensity of Keith’s words, the sincerity of his voice, the softness of his heart. Falling for him all over again, but in different ways–not just for his smiles and his hands and his iridescent eyes, but for his heart and his voice and the way he makes Lance feel–tender and warm and deeply, deeply in love.
Keith is like the ocean, Lance thinks, in that he is incredibly deep and beautiful and dangerous and dark. And when you get too close, he pulls you in like the sinking tides. Whether or not you embrace him is up to you.

Yesterday Upon The Stair by PitViperOfDoom (289k) - Another quirk!Izuku fic where Izuku has a quirk that lets him see ghosts. This fic is really just a total fucking legend. Features lots of Dad Might being concerned about his spooky son. There was a scene in a recent chapter that took my breath away, god
Bloom In Winter by e_va (64k) - In which Hisashi Midoriya is a villain (and a dick) and Izuku is forced at a young age to help him and the organization he’s part of with their evil plans. I literally can’t emphasize how much I love this fic already. The characterization is awesome and the villains are so hateable, it’s amazing. Also comes with a bonus heap of Dadzawa.

Aya's Stucky Fic Rec Starter Kit (Favourites)
EDIT 02/07/2014: Due to an overwhelmingly large amount of stucky fics that I wanted to rec out (over 80 fics, dear lord!), I’ve had to divide my stucky fic rec starter kit in to two parts. The original Stucky kit became this one, my Stucky Fic Rec Starter Kit (Favourites), and the rest went into my new Stucky Fic Rec Starter Kit. This kit contains all my ultimate favourite stucky fics, but I am by no way saying that the fics in the Stucky Fic Rec Starter Kit are any less brilliant than the ones in this, not in the least! They are all absolutely incredible fics, all exquisitely good and complete and beautifully written and in character and just really, really amazing fics. These are just my personal favourites, the ones I love the most and have actually saved to my laptop. They are all spectacular fics regardless. My # 1 pick and favourite bumbleby story ever. Told in 2nd person POV, it’s set in a future AU where they are adults, and Blake comes back to Yang after being away for 5 years. It’s so emotionally raw and powerful, it just hits all the right notes on so many levels. “she knows that you were made to break and she’s not afraid to shatter you.” Wow. Just, wow.

This story is a masterpiece. I do not use that word lightly. The word count might be intimidating 84 000 words for one chapter but it is SO worth it to read. It is a beautiful and intense exploration into Blake and Yang’s relationship, all the love, emotion and passion they feel for each other. The author has a deep understanding of both these characters, the language and metaphors are so clever and poetic. The whole story is a thing of beauty and I can’t forget to mention that is also one of the hottest love scenes I have ever read. Extremely satisfying read.
3. RWBY: Lifetimes by RejectedKnight34

This story punched me straight in the heart and made me cry (in a good way). It is inspired by the image Bumblebee 25 Lives . I have never been so emotionally moved by story in my life, it brought tears to my eyes which rarely happens. I found it early in my fanfic roamings and it has stuck with me for a long time. Beautiful. Heartbreakingly and hauntingly beautiful.
4. Soulbound by xT-Zealot
Rated: T - Chapters: 15 - Words: 242228 - Status: Complete
I believe that it is the most accurate, well-written novelizations of RWBY Volume 1 ever. The characterizations are amazing with detailed histories, the story-telling is captivating, and there is a slowly budding Bumbleby weaved in there as well. Close to perfection, I’d say. The scene at the end is so beautiful, one of my favourite scenes of all time.
5. Coffee With Strangers by TigerLilly22
Rated: T - Chapters: 12 - Words: 45627 - Status: Complete
I didn’t read this story at first because it was AU but I read the first chapter and I was instantly hooked. This story has the most believable and realistic representation of Blake and Yang’s personalities that I have ever read. Watching them grow closer together on each date with elements of canon cleverly incorporated into the story, it’s so cute and fluffy, and such a joy to read, definitely a classic in the bumbleby fic category. I really like the separate epilogue fic “The Morning After” too.
6. Premium Well Redux by DinasEmrys
Rated: E - Chapters: 27 - Words: 117953
Team RWBY has grown up, and relationships start after a night at the bar. I am oversimplifying but trust me, this story is extremely hot. It’s descriptive and exciting with a suspenseful plot-line. The characterizations are amazingly accurate, what they say and what they feel is so believable and fits into canon seamlessly. I really appreciate how the author does not shy away from describing the love scenes. Sex is an important and normal aspect of a mature relationship, and it’s beautiful thing.
7. The Fire Within by mikotyzini
Rated: T - Chapters: 37 - Words: 144890 - Status: Complete
This author has written numerous awesome fics for the bumbleby pairing, and Fire Within is my favourite of theirs. There’s action, a detailed and well-planned plotline, and plenty of fluffy moments and emotions explored. Amazing and epic, writing talent at near professional levels, it’s great.
8. Blake, What Do Your Faunus Eyes See by TobiasHawk1
Rated: M - Chapters: 45 - Words: 33305
First of all I have to say that I love this story. It’s told in first person style from Yang’s point of view, the story telling is so honest, and the characterizations are right on point. This story also brings in some real life themes which I really appreciate, it kind of makes me feel like a teenager again. Awesome.
9. Choice: A RWBY College AU by elfenlied1012
Rated: M - Chapters: 25 - Words: 153383 - Status: Complete
This might be a bit of an odd choice to some of you, considering White Rose is the main ship. It’s my favourite White Rose Story by far with a side of bumbleby. If this list was a ranking on sheer enjoyment, this fic would be in my top 5. I love the dynamic between Yang and Blake, even when the emotions are negative, it’s so real and hard hitting. I found myself tearing up at some scenes. It’s just an amazing RWBY fic period, ship or no ship, one of my favourites of all time.
10. Things You Wrote On The Walls by moonsandstar_s
Rated: M - Chapters: 34 - Words: 131423 - Status: Complete
I stumbled on to this story the day after it came out on Halloween, I’m proud to say that I was an early supporter. I was immediately impressed by the author’s poetic and beautifully descriptive writing style. The extensive back story she created for Blake is amazing, the characterization of Yang is totally on point. This is one of the most unique and dramatic re-tellings of RWBY Volume 1 out there.

One of the first fanfics I read, nice dose of action and smut with a believable plot line.

Again, if this was a list about sheer enjoyment, I think this would be my number one pick. The reason it is not higher up on this list is because it is more about friendship and ship-teasing then an actual ship. Nevertheless, I think they have most accurate representations of the characters ever. They excel at incorporating humor and action into their plot lines, I’ve never laughed out loud so many times while reading before. You might have heard of their popular story Catnip, but I totally recommend reading their other stories as well, they are great adventures.
13. The Days of Winter by mikotyzini
Rated: T - Chapters: 6 - Words: 22746 - Status: Complete
I love how the relationship slowly builds up between these two, and seeing a jealous Blake is so great.
14. A Second Dance by Reeves3

My favourite dance fic for the bees, it’s just so believable and sweet, one of the first bumbleby fics I fell in love with.

I really like the deep emotional themes about Yang’s past explored here, it’s so realistic and on point. Extremely well done.

Really awesome writing and flow, love how the attraction is described from Blake’s point of view. A beach party, Yang as a fire exhibitionist and Blake as a shy bookish type, so perfect.

The fics I consider essential are marked **, but I love all the fic listed here! Anything in brackets is my own tag/opinion, so I can remember what’s what.
New to Stucky? I recommend starting at the top – the time lapse fics are slow building, canon compliant, and all-around amazing – and then working down the ** ones, since most of my favourites are also extremely popular in the fandom.
