Soooo I’m sure there’s lots of things I could tweak and continously improve.... but here it is! My little adaption of The Fox and the Crow!
I’ve been working on this on and off for agggggges and It took way longer than I thought it would but I’m happy with it for now. This was my first time properly colouring and shading... usually I’m just doing a bunch of block colour - which is nice, it reminds me of my printmaking irl but I wanted to expand my skills and that’s what this project was about. I had a good time, I accomplished the ultimate goal even if there’s a few (many) things I’d like to go back and change, this was a good first attempt and I just don’t wanna work on this any longer! Excited for what comes next!
Anyway I’m super tired so I’m gonna go lie down.  Probably gonna edit this message so it makes more sense tomorrow. Ciao xxxx

[ID:  A four panel diary comic drawn in a teal blue palette. Each panel has its own caption.
Panel 1: The first caption reads “This has been a week of late nights and bad sleep,”. Underneath is a woman - the cartoonist - sleeping on her front. She is nude but wears an eye mask, with her body covered by blankets and her head resting upon two pillows. Her hair falls over one shoulder as she snores, her mouth wide open.
Panel 2: “Of tossing and turning,”. Underneath is the same woman later into the night, with a sketchy style reflecting her erratic movement and restless sleep. Her pillows and blankets have been pushed away and teeter over the sides of the mattress, threatening to fall away. She is still nude, and her bottom and belly are exposed. Many limbs in lighter shades rest in a number of alternative positions, representing her movement. She still wears her eyemask but her hair is splayed out messily.
Panel 3: “Of tight chests and aching backs,”. Below the same woman is drawn now standing, but her head and legs are out of frame, so that only her bare back is visible. Her hair is still loose and messy, but now there is a snake that winds around her torso and arms, constricting her and representing her back pain and tight chest.
Panel 4: “If only I could be arsed to do anything about it...”. Beneath is the same woman, with her face unobscured for the first time. She is now dressed and awake, but her body is out of frame. Her shoulders are raised in a shrug, with the word written besides her. She has bags under her eyes and she has a half frown, indicating her lack of motivation despite her suffering.

It’s funny how much I got used to not doing all the reproductive work that comes with living alone... and how limiting it can be having to commit so much time and energy to it. Wish I had more support lol

[ID:  A four panel diary comic drawn in a teal blue palette. Each panel has its own caption.
Panel 1: The caption reads “In my absence, my flat seemingly got even dustier...” Below a hallway is drawn in perspective. At the end of it is an ajar door, and beyond it is another room and a distant window. The hallway is carpeted in a deep blue green colour, but the walls and ceilings are almost white. Many motes of dust hang in the air. They are greyish and textured with a pencil tool.
Panel 2: “Which triggered my asthma pretty badly”. Pictured below is the cartoonist from the shoulders up, her head resting on a pillow. Her hair is long and dishevelled and her expression is pained. Her shoulders are bare but she wears an eye mask around her neck. Two speech bubbles read “COUGH” and “WHEEZE”.
Panel 3: “So this week I took time off to do a deep clean”. Pictured is an opaque spray bottle with a blank label. To its left is a neatly folded pile of microfibre cloths. The items sit against a plain blue background.
Panel 4: “Especially in my bedroom, where I found mountains of dust under the bed!” Pictured are two mounds of dust, of the same greyish colour as in Panel 1. They are once again textured with the pencil brush, with lots of crosshatching where they sit in shadow. To the right, a slight breeze blows and motes of dust are pulled up into the air. End ID]

And afterwards we three youngsters went on a drunken walk along the beach!

[ID: A four panel diary comic drawn in a teal blue palette. Each panel has its own caption.
Panel 1: The caption reads “A helicopter interrupts my last night with Aaron’s family”. Below is an illustration of a window. On either side, curtains are blown away as a helicopter flies past in the distance outside. The sky is dark and below in large letters and partially covered up by the window frame is written ‘NYOOM’.
Panel 2: “And tipsy and excitable we all decided to go out to see it....” This is a birds eye view of the road outside, and everything is drawn in dark, muted colours. A road goes from top left to bottom right, with parked cars on either side. On the left side of the road, two cars drive ahead, transporting five unseen passengers.
Panel 3: “We wait in the cold for it to take off again...”. Pictured is an empty and unattended helicopter sitting on a field. The ground and sky are almost indistinguishable in the dark, separated only by a single thin line. Four silhouetted figures stand before it, waiting.
Panel 4: “And when it does, with its blades lit up in the dark, I am struck by how beautiful it is”. Pictured is the helicopter, now in flight, tilted at an odd angle so that we see its underside. Its blades spin and their edges are lit up with bright light against the dark sky. There is no detail within the windows but outside a wind spins, picking up leaves. Flashing lights on its flank light up, transforming the dull colours of night and the helicopter itself. End ID]
