A Modern Fairytale (Part 2)
Links: Part 1
Pairing: Kate Bishop x F!Reader
Genre: Fluff
Description: Gears turning you say? Well turn no more, the plan is here!
Notes: Took me way longer than I wanted to get this done, but this absolute mess is here now, right? As per usual, everything is absolutely not proof read. Still, let me know what you think. Also if you’d like to be tagged in the third part, let me know! (Not really sure how to make an organised list but I’ll do my best.)
- - -
Smoothing out your tailcoat suit, (big thank you to your old theatre teacher who let you keep it,) you step inside the party. Immediately, you’re assaulted by lavish dresses, clinking glasses, and polite chattering. You thought you’d be overdressed, (because what use would you have for a 19th century outfit that made you look pretentious?) but you seem to have forgotten that “excessive”, is exactly the type of social circle this is. Hopefully, no one would notice your cheap dollar store mask. You’ve arrived later than you would have liked, and the event seems to be in full swing already. Regardless, you begin weaving your way through the crowd, searching for your raven haired friend. You spot Kate’s mother with some moustached gentleman, several pendants worth more than your school loans and a Rolex, but in your search, you must have forgotten about what was in front of you, because you walk right into someone at full speed.
Stumbling back, you mean to mumble out a hasty apology, but it dies on your lips. The lady you’ve bumped into is gorgeous, dressed in a black dress which hugs her athletic figure. It shimmers in the dim light, but doesn’t take away from her eyes, which are filled with a distinctive fire you’ve seen many times before. Hold on, this is Kate, and she’s understandably annoyed. “Watch it,” she glares.
“I-“ Wait, she can’t know it’s you. And based on the way you’ve dressed, you should deepen your voice. You try again. “I am deeply sorry miss,” you say, voice an octave below it’s usual, and with a slight British lilt for good measure.
That’s when you see the man next to her. Balding, suit crinkled, and hand twitching too close to Kate for your liking.
The words are out of your mouth before you can even process them. “I’m sorry for the intrusion, but miss has an urgent matter to attend to.”
And without a second glance, you tug her away. You only walk a few steps before she yanks her hand from yours.
“So what is it?”
You didn’t think this far ahead. “Um…” The words stumbled out. “There is no urgent matter. I just didn’t think you were enjoying that gentleman’s company.”
“And you think I would enjoy yours?” Kate says haughtily, rising to her full height. This is the side of her you haven’t seen before, the side she uses to ward off overly forward suitors and opportunistic business partners looking for her mother. It’s a stark contrast to the Kate you know, with cheeky smiles, a goofy attitude and a tendency to get herself into trouble.
“If you stick around, maybe we will find out.”
But Kate isn’t looking at you anymore. Rather, she is looking at a spot across your shoulder. Following her line of sight, you spot her mother, who seems to be mouthing a word at her. You turn back to your friend, who is now vigorously shaking her head, but to no avail, as her mother continues. Raising her hands up to her shoulders, she begins to sway and—
Oh. Oh. The dancing that she was so worried about! Well, that’s what you were here for, right? Even if you had accidentally antagonised her. Exhaling slowly, you asked the question.
“May I have this dance?”
Reluctantly, pinching the bridge of her nose, she glanced around the room quickly. She had no choice. She took your hand and you begin to lead her to the dance floor.
“Your observation may have been correct, but I don’t need saving.”
You smile your own, private smile. Kate didn’t need saving when she was often the one doing the saving. “I would never think otherwise. Your martial arts skills are unparalleled by anyone in this room.”
“Of course you know who I am,” she sighs.
“Why wouldn’t I? You glared at me before the same way you stared down your opponent in the final match.”
Kate’s eyes widen in surprise. Turning to you, she speaks again, aggression gone from her voice. “You actually watched me live?”
Uh oh. That was getting to close. You doubt any of the people here cared enough about Kate’s actual achievements rather than her money to be there in person.
“Um, no,” you say sheepishly. “I watched you online. Your final crescent kick fake was super impressive, and fooled me as well as the opponent.”
“Oh.”
“It’s an honour to be in the prescence of a US champion.”
She smiles gratefully.
At least she didn’t catch on. And Kate does look slightly more relaxed than she was before, perhaps because you knew her for who she really was. You’d just have to be careful about what you said next time.
The song changes, and the pair of you face each other. Unfortunately, Kate has always been tall, and the heels are doing you no favours. Because her chest is right at your eye level, and you feel the heat rise to your cheeks. It’s weird stare at your best friend like that, right?
“Not a dancer?” you ask, a feeble attempt at a distraction.
“You could say that.”
“I’m sure the footwork in your martial arts is transferable.”
“I’m sure that dancing doesn’t involve trying to knock your partner’s feet out from under them.”
You grin as you begin to lead her across the floor. And despite her missteps, (which you’re sure no one but you would notice), Kate oozed confidence. Not that she didn’t usually, but here, amongst champagne flutes and with a glittering dress, she just looked different. Even her constant glancing over her shoulder wouldn’t offset it.
“Are you looking for someone?”
Kate snaps her attention back to you. “Sorry, my mother has been on my back to dance with someone all night.”
“So I’m the first?”
“That you are.” You swear there’s a light dusting of pink under her mask, but maybe it’s the lighting.
“I’m flattered. But someone as talented and as beautiful as you would totally have picked up like 10 guys by now.”
She chuckles lowly. “I’ve picked up more than 10 here. They just all happen to be trying to get into the business.”
“I wouldn’t say that.”
Kate looks at you expectantly.
“You have me.”
“And what are you trying to do?”
You, is the first response that comes into your head, and what the fuck? Because regardless of whatever is going on in your head tonight, you definitely cannot say that. “Dance with a pretty girl and gorge myself on tiny food portions?”
Maybe you were more absorbed into this role than you thought. What was that your teacher always said? The best performers aren’t performing. They’re being. Yes, that must be it. You would use this to your advantage.
Kate lets out a raspy giggle, and you force the tension to leave your shoulders. As the dance comes to an end, you twirl her around one last time. Despite an imbalance of experience usually being a hinderance, Kate seems to click with you, quickly catching on to your directions, and occasionally pulling a move or two out of her own.
“Excuse me sir, would you-“
You turn around to find the source of the tap on your shoulder, and see a man, white hair, slightly shorter than you are.
“Sorry, I’m not a waiter.”
“Oh- oh! My apologies!”
Looking past you, he squints at Kate, before widening in recognition. “And you’re the little Bishop girl!”
She purses her lips before replying. “Yes, yes I am.”
“Armand. Armand Duquesne.”
“Ah.”
“You used to come to my brownstone for brunch.”
“Oh, build your own blintz bar.”
“Precisely. You know, it's unfair. I never looked that good dressed up in my life.” He chuckles. “Perhaps you should dress down a little for the wedding, so we won't be competing.”
“What wedding?” she asks, voice taking on a slight edge.
“You don't know? Eleanor and Jack. Oh! Those secretive little love birds!”
Your best friend stiffens next to you.
“Well, I’ve got a couple more rounds to make, but I’ll see you then,” Armand says politely, excusing himself.
Kate is still standing there, but she is now staring at her mother and the moustached gentleman with renewed energy, brows furrowed. She takes a large step towards them and-
“Peppermint TicTac?”
Kate while around, blinking at you owlishly.
Maybe this was a risky move? But in your defence, she looked like she was about to do something impulsive, and you knew that this was definitely not the time. And you of course also knew of her love for this confectionary.
You shake the box enticingly. “So?”
It’s fine, anyone could be carrying them. It was normal.
She shakes her head, as if to clear her thoughts. “Sorry. But yeah that’d be great, thanks for that.”
You smile warmly. “There’s no need to apologise again. I bumped into you earlier, so I think we can call it even. But are you okay?”
She exhales through her nose. “Come with me.”
You’re surprised at her forwardness, but then again, Kate has always been one for the unexpected. The pair of you weave through the crowd, the marble lobby, and out into the chill outside. Cars rush along the main road, and snow crunches beneath your shoes.
“Thank you for dancing with me tonight,” she says, her breath fogging in the air.
“It was my pleasure to be your partner,” you return. “Thank you for accepting.”
Scratching her head awkwardly, a stray piece of hair falls out from her updo. “To be honest with you, I only accepted because like I said before, my mother wants me to dance, and you’re the only person I’ve met who has been genuine tonight.”
“Well I’m more than happy to be your friend for tonight.” A voice in the back of your head asks are you? You push it away. “Can I ask why she’s so insistent?”
Staring at the twinkling lights of the city, she speaks again. “She wants me to get married.”
You of course, already know this.
“My friend says it sounds like a fairytale.”
“Old fashioned if you ask me,” you offer. “The drink is great, the mentality is not.”
That manages a small smile out of her.
“But just because she’s about to get married behind my back, doesn’t mean that I have to.”
“Look,” you pause, choosing your next words carefully. “I think your mother just wants the best for you, and I really think being open minded to their relationship would be good. If they really love each other, who are we to stop them, right?” Impulsively, you continue. “Maybe one day you’ll fall in love and experience the same thing.”
Kate turns to you abruptly, and her intense gaze locks with yours. “Have you?”
“Well I…” You try again. “I-“
It’s then that an obnoxious alarm tone sounds from your phone.
Breaking eye contact, you fumble through your phone, attempting to shut off the noise. Well whatever that moment was, it’s broken now.
“Busy day tomorrow?”
“Something like that.” you reply sheepishly. “I’m afraid I’ll have to excuse myself now.”
“Thanks again,” Kate smiles, and maybe it’s because you’re exhausted, but you feel unexpectedly warm out in the chilly air.
“It was nice meeting you, Kate Bishop. Maybe I’ll see you around.” With whatever boldness had possessed you tonight, you take her hand and press your lips to the back of her calloused fingers, before walking away.
“Wait,” she calls, “who are you?”
“A princess and a fairytale? Well then you can call me Prince.” And with one final look, you turn to the road, trudging through the snow, back to your messed up sleep schedule and university classes.

A Modern Fairytale (Part 1)
Links: Part 2
Pairing: Kate Bishop x F!Reader
Genre: Fluff
Description: Kate’s mother wants her to meet potential suitors and to dance with them. Noting her nervousness, you take it upon yourself to introduce her to a Prince Charming. (No Avengers/Hawkeye stuff in this one.)
Notes: Hello, I promise I’m still here. I’ve got a bunch of WIPs but as per usual, I have no idea when I’m going to finish them. But I figured maybe if I publish something, I’ll be able to. (So sorry if this one makes zero sense.) Thanks for sticking around though, and as always, comments and likes appreciated! :)
- - -
“My mother wants me to marry.”
You’ve barely stepped into her room when she blurts this out.
“Well hello to you too,” you joke, placing your books on her desk. “I presume this will require my full attention, so I guess we’re not studying tonight.”
Kate glares at you and you raise your hands in mock surrender, but you know she’s not mad. As her best friend of all time (she dubbed you that, not yourself), you know that she has a tendency to not think things through, and that her overconfidence is built on the necessity of being the daughter of a very powerful woman. Most importantly though, you know that she would let you get away with anything, because you were her favourite person.
“So,” you say, seating yourself across from her on the bed, “what can I do for you?”
“For starters, sit next to me and cuddle so it doesn’t feel like you’re interviewing me,” Kate replies, finally releasing a small grin.
“That I can do,” you chirp, crawling over and wrapping and arm around her. Automatically, her head comes to rest on your shoulder. “So go on then, tell me everything.”
“My mother wants me to marry.”
“Yes you mentioned that.”
Kate whacks your stomach with her arm. You stay silent, waiting for her to elaborate. And with a deep breath, she does.
“She says it’s what is best. By marrying one of the snobbish men who run in my mother’s circle, it ensures good impressions for her and her business, and of course me as well. She’s done everything, laid out my path for me, but still she can’t guarantee my future, but a man can.”
You quirk your brow at this. “Sounds like something out of a fairytale. Princess marries for diplomatic relations and a future.”
“Aren’t fairytales about defying expectations and true love?”
“Are they for you?” you laugh, waving your arm at the various medals and trophies that adorn her room.
Sitting up, she looks at you indignantly. “But being a knight just sounded so cool!”
“You are very cool,” you smile at her.
A faint pink rises to her cheeks and she looks away. You’re not sure why she still reacts this way. Anyone with eyes could see she was undoubtedly talented, and she had various archery and martial arts awards under her (black) belt to prove it. Kate had tried to get you into archery too, but you just weren’t cut out for it. That, and the fact that you somehow launched an arrow outside of the safety enclosure last time you tried. But where Kate excelled at these sports, you took to the arts. In particular, musical theatre. Which of course meant you crushed karaoke nights. Though your different hobbies meant running in entirely different clubs and circles at school, the two of you always made the effort to show up for each other, you to her competitions, and her to your performances. Perhaps you and Kate couldn’t be more different, but you were best friends all the same.
“She says that people are aware that I am available and there may be potential suitors at our next event.”
“And what would that be?”
“A masquerade ball.”
You can’t help but chuckle at that. “Are you kidding me? This is definitely some fairytale plot.”
“Some fairytale it is then,” she frowns.
“So what’s the problem?”
“I can’t dance.”
“What? Sure you can.”
“Going clubbing with you doesn’t count.”
“Why not? You always drag me to the dance floor.”
“That’s not dancing, it’s just waving my arms around like an idiot when I’m too drunk to care!”
“At least you’re self aware,” you reply with a teasing smile. “But it’s cute.”
Kate’s cheeks flush darker.
“I’m sure if you pulled those moves out you’d get like 10 marriage proposals on the spot.”
“Stopppp,” she pouts. You smirk good-naturedly.
“I have to do ballroom dancing.”
“What,” you joke, “hasn’t your mother taught you all about the rich life?”
“I never took to dancing, you know that. And she stopped once I started getting serious about archery.”
Tearing your eyes away from the glittering signs of her prowess that adorned her walls, you observe your best friend. Kate has always been somewhat restless, but as you see her interlacing her fingers, just to fiddle with them again, you know she’s anxious this time.
“Well… that’s never been an issue before right?” you try. “Goodness knows you’re stubborn. And just somehow, it means you can be successful at anything you put your mind too.”
“Y/N, I just-“
And it occurs to you then. Why didn’t you see it before? Despite her sometimes ineloquent demeanour, Kate has always cared deeply about people. About you, and about her mother.
“You don’t have to dance Kate,” you propose gently. “You’ve always done what you wanted.”
“Yes I do!” Kate yells, frustrated. “Everyone will know it’s me. Everyone expects it of me. I do what I want, but I’m still trapped by high society.” I can’t let her down, were the words unspoken. We only have each other.
Sometimes you wondered if Kate’s relentless heroism would be diluted if she hadn’t grown up with fairytales. Because she cared so deeply and protectively. I need to protect us, was what she told her mother when their father passed.
You tilt your head slightly, pondering what she’s shared with you. If she couldn’t even muster her usual false bravado, then this was serious. And you hated seeing her this dejected. It wasn’t right, not without her signature cheeky grin. If only you could swap hobbies with her…
“Well come on then!” Channeling Kate’s usual impulsiveness, you tug her to her feet.
Kate lets out a nervous laugh at your sudden movements. “Wait- what are we doing?”
You send her the most reassuring smile you can muster. “Dancing of course!”
Grasping her clenched hand, you unfurl her fingers and place them on your shoulder. “Hand goes here. Just relax, okay?” Taking her other hand in yours, you begin counting slowly.
“It’s a waltz, so it’s in three. Just follow my lead. One two three, one two-“
A quiet oof escapes you as your dance partner unceremoniously steps on your foot.
“Sorry,” she mumbles. “I’m not cut out for this.”
You give her hand a squeeze, but continue counting. And soon enough, Kate seems to pick up the rhythm, only glancing down occasionally to ensure she was doing the right steps. Without having to focus on her footwork, she can look up at you, who seems to have been lost in their synchronised beats for awhile now. Your face is relaxed, counting quietly and staring off into the distance with a loopy grin. Even whilst looking vaguely disoriented, your attitude is still infectious.
Your attention snaps back to her, and your smile turns endearing. “See?”
“It’s not the same,” Kate sighs finally, pulling away. “These people are people I’ve never met, vying for my attention like I’m a prize to be won.”
“But Kate, you can dance! That one with me was great!””
“You’re you,” she smiles, a tired, weary one. Like she was privy to an explanation you didn’t quite understand. “I actually like you. Dancing with you is easy.”
Noticing the time on her phone, she sits down on her bed once more. “We should probably sleep. I’ve kept you long enough.”
Wordlessly, you slide into the other side of her king sized mattress as she turns off the lights.
In the darkness, Kate suddenly turns to you. “I know you usually come over on Friday, but you don’t have to come next week to the ball, okay? I’ve already robbed you of your study time.”
You simply hum noncommittally, the gears already turning in your head.

Acquaintances
Pairing: Wanda x Fem!Reader
Genre: Fluff
Description: Wanda meets someone who doesn’t treat her like a villain, but she doesn’t know who you really are.
Notes: I promise it’s fluff and not a trap. Also sorry about my hiatus, I’m just super unmotivated to do anything. So here’s my feeble offering to try and get back into writing.
- - -
Wanda groaned at the sight of a man with a camera. All she wanted was to pop down to the shops, buy some paprika, but alas, even a shopping trip was gold for the paparazzi. Maybe if she hid behind an aisle he would leave. But she heard the door open behind her. Ducking quickly behind a stack of tuna cans, she scanned the rows for the precious package.
She knew she wasn’t the favourite of the public, and the guilt of what she’d done ate her alive every night, but she was sick of being blamed. All she did was try her best, but this was the kind of thanks she got.
She frowned a little when she saw the man round the corner. She steeled herself, not wanting the tears to spring to her eyes. Turning around to face him, she- There was a person talking to him. You had a shopping bag in your hand, so you must have been another customer. Dressed smartly with a blazer, but paired with jeans and sneakers, you looked friendly, but the cold look you gave the man said otherwise. You exchanged words quietly with the reporter, and he seemed to refuse you, turning back to look at her. Realising that this was the perfect stall to get out of the store, she resumed her search. Cumin, Ginger, Paprika! Quickly glancing back to see how long she had, she saw you hand the man a business card as he hurriedly shuffled away.
“Sorry about that,” you turned to her, looking genuinely apologetic.
“Why?” she asked, it coming out harsher than she meant for it to. “It wasn’t even your fault.”
You shrugged. “You don’t deserve it.”
Wanda frowned again at this. She didn’t even know you, but you helped her out, so the least she could do was be polite. “Thanks.”
“No problem,” you smiled. The two of you started to walk towards to counter. More like she did and you kind of happened to as well. “What are you cooking with the paprika?”
Sliding the bag to the cashier, she turned to face you properly. “I was making a traditional Sokovian dish.”
“I’m a big fan of trying different cuisines,” you replied, eyes sparkling with curiosity. “That sounds delicious.”
Wanda’s not really sure why you’re trying to make conversation, but you didn’t seem to have an agenda, so she indulged you with a response as the two of you walked out of the store. “It is, my mum always had the best recipe.”
“Ah well, my parents weren’t around much, so I can’t say the same,” you laughed, throwing your shopping in the back of what must have been your car.
Wanda hadn’t even realised she had walked with you to your car. That was embarrassing. “Well, it was nice to meet you, but I should be going now,” backing away as quickly as she could without making a fool of herself.
“Wait,” you called, “do you need a lift back?”
“You’re a stranger.”
“Well I know your name is Wanda,” you grinned cheekily, opening the passenger door. “And my name is Y/N. Guess we’re not strangers anymore. So, what do you say? It’s the least I could do, with that man bothering you.”
She’s not sure what compelled her to agree, but she found herself sitting in a plush leather seat as you adjusted the rear view mirror. Tapping the dashboard screen, you pulled up a map to Avengers Tower and backed out of the parking lot.
You didn’t seem to mind that she didn’t make conversation, bopping your head gently to whatever pop song was on the radio. Instead she spent the time trying to figure out who you were and why you were being so nice. “It’s rude to stare, you know?” you winked at her.
Wanda felt the heat rush to her cheeks. “Wha- No, sorry,” she mumbled. She’d done it again, made herself look dumb. You giggle, returning your eyes to the road. Trying not to stare at you this time, she observed the fancy watch adorning your wrist, and the sleek interior of the car. You must be a businesswoman of some sort, since this clearly wasn’t your average suburban car. But you were wearing jeans. Maybe a lower level employee than?
She sat there musing, until the door suddenly opened. “We’re here,” you smiled, gesturing at the grand tower that was now her home.
Why couldn’t she stop being so awkward? This was the third time. Unbuckling the seatbelt, she stumbled out, clutching the paprika to her chest. “Thanks again.”
“Anytime, Wanda.” And with a small wave, you hopped back into your car and drove off.
- - -
Heading straight to her room, Wanda abandoned her plans for paprikash. The whole interaction was quite frankly, baffling. No one was ever nice to her, except for the Avengers. But you clearly knew who she was, driving her back to the tower without an address. Tossing her jacket on her bed, she sighed. It’s not like she’d ever see you again. That’s when she noticed the card peeking out from the pocket. There was a phone number printed neatly on it, and a cursive scrawl underneath. “I am actually interested in the dish though. Could I have the name of it?”
She hadn’t exactly interacted with anyone else, so it must’ve been you. Running her thumb over the ink, she was hit with a renewed sense of energy. Grabbing the paprika, she dashed back down the stairs.
- - -
You’re spinning around in your office chair when your phone goes off. Clicking on the message, a small smile makes its way into your face.
Unknown Number: this is the dish i was talking about
Unknown Number: *image*
Unknown Number: it’s paprikash
- - -
“Hey Wanda,” Tony called, a carefully wrapped package in his arms, “this came for you.”
One look at the scarlet wrapping paper, and she knew who it was from. “Thanks Tony,” she said, grabbing it and running to her room.
Setting the package gently on her bed, she untied the ribbon and unfolded the wrapping paper. Nestled in the middle, a box of cookies.
She grinned to herself. Wanda’s been texting you for a couple of months now, and now she could really say that you’re not strangers. She knows that you can’t cook, but you can bake. You’re a businesswoman “of sorts” you say, and that you’re a pretty busy person. But regardless, you hang out with her, chilling in the local coffee shop, going shopping, even just a stroll around the park. She also knows that this happiness she gets when she sees you is definitely not platonic.
Opening the lid, the chocolate aroma wafts into her room. Her favourite of your baked goods. There’s a note tucked into the side of the box, and she delicately pulls it out. “Be my girlfriend?” she read, the handwriting obviously yours. Wait. Be my girlfriend? She sat there dumbly for a couple of seconds before it hit her. You’re asking her to be your girlfriend. Wanda scrambled for her phone, snapping a picture to send to you.
Y/N: those cookies look delicious, who sent them?
The witch rolled eyes at your antics, but played along.
Wanda: idk, but i just got asked out
Y/N: whoaaaa, did you say yes?
Wanda: yes you dumbass
Y/N: okay, under other circumstances that would’ve hurt, but i’m too excited to care right now <3
Wanda: ...
Wanda: did you try to bribe me with cookies?
Y/N: it worked, didn’t it?
Wanda: i can’t believe i actually like you
Y/N: honestly, me too
Y/N: sorry it’s a busy day, but you wanna come over for dinner?
Wanda: sounds good <3
Y/N: i’ll come pick you up, see you then girlfriend
She didn’t want bugs in her room, so Wanda grabbed the box to put in her kitchen cupboard. Balancing a cookie in her mouth, she was about to close the lid, when a hand pinched one. Eyes immediately glowing red, she locked onto Sam as he backed away, half eaten cookie and hands up in surrender.
“Do that again and I will give you nightmares.”
The Falcon whistled lowly. “Okay. Protective over cookies. Got it.”
“There’s cookies?” Bucky asked, strolling in.
“No.”
“Oh okay.”
- - -
The heroes were sprawled on the couches playing a game of UNO when Wanda came down the stairs.
“What are you doing with that hoodie?” Tony asked sharply.
Wanda furrowed her eyebrows. “This.. hoodie?” she replied, tugging on the drawstrings of the soft item of company clothing she was wearing.
“Yes! That’s my enemy’s!”
She didn’t really want to get into whatever nonsense the genius was spouting again. “My friend lent it to me.”
“You have friends?” joked Sam.
Steve gave the man a warning look. “It’s good that you’re adjusting to life here.”
“I think the important question here,” Natasha said from her spot, “is where are you going?”
“Dinner,” she replied, trying to look as nonchalant as possible. She tried to fight the silly smile that crept into her face whenever she thought about you, but she mustn’t have hid it well enough, since the red headed spy gave her a sickeningly sweet smile.
I hate you, she projected.
Nat winked back.
“Based on the way Miss Maximoff keeps anxiously glancing at the door, there is likely to be someone waiting for her,” Vision piped up. “I have searched the Internet databases, and from what I have gathered, your casual outfit means that you are going with someone you are familiar with. The sharing of clothes is usually reserved for close friends or romantic partners only.”
Of course the android had to get involved.
“Your heart rate seems to be speeding up Miss Maximoff. Are you okay?”
“Wanda Maximoff,” Tony asked slowly, “do you have a boyfriend?”
That’s when all hell broke loose.
“Who is he?”
“Is he hot?”
“Where did you meet?”
“How did you even get a boyfriend?”
“Can we meet him?”
“What-“
“Okay,” she groaned. Well it was bound to happen eventually. She just wished she could’ve gotten even a few months without the teasing. “I have a girlfriend, yes she’s hot, yes I’m going to have dinner with her, and I’ll ask about meeting. I’m going to go now.” With that, she stepped into the elevator.
“Don’t think this conversation is over witchy,” called Tony, as the doors slid shut.
- - -
“Hey,” you smiled as she slid into the car. “What took you so long?”
“The Avengers found out.”
You chuckled at that. “What, did they interrogate you or something?”
“Something like that.” She paused. “They want to meet you.”
“Are you sure?”
“They’re my family, and they’ll love you as much as I do.”
“Cute,” you grinned, “but I don’t know about Tony.”
“Trust me, they’re a mess a lot of the time, but they’re good people.”
You checked through your phone. “I haven’t got anything on around lunch tomorrow. I can come by then, how does that sound?”
“So you’ll come?”
“Anything for my girlfriend.”
- - -
Her green eyes locked onto you amongst the bustle of suits in the lobby.
“Hey.”
You adjusted the grey fabric of your pantsuit. “Hey yourself.”
“Did you wear the suit to impress me?” Wanda asked, delicately tugging on your tie.
“Actually, I’ve got a meeting with the investors later. Gotta make an impression, you know?”
“Well consider me impressed,” she whispered against your ear.
Blushing, you allowed Wanda to lead you to the elevator.
- - -
Clint wasn’t sure what to expect with you. But if Wanda liked you, you were sure to be one of the good sorts. So maybe like a cute girl she met at the cafe or something. He sure as hell wasn’t expecting the confident girl dressed in a suit to step out of the elevator.
All of them were lined up in the common room and he’s pretty sure any normal person would have been intimidated by the sheer amount of Avengers in front of them, but you stepped up to them absolutely unfazed.
“Mr Rogers,” you offered your hand to shake, “a pleasure to meet you.”
Steve was expecting to have to take the lead with introductions, but here you seemed to be handling yourself fine. “Likewise.”
“Is Mr Stark here today?” you asked him.
“He’s a bit busy at the mo-“
Clattering and a string of curses interrupted him. And of course, the man himself stepped into the room, Iron Man debris in his wake.
“Tony,” Steve scolded.
“What? Did you think I’d miss meeting the girl who stole the heart of our cold antisocial emo?”
Wanda tossed a couch pillow at him, but he brushed it off.
“Tony Stark,” he declared.
You shook his hand politely. “I know who you are Mr Stark.”
“And you are...?”
“Y/N L/N.”
The genius might have been singed from his armour, but the moment that name fell from your lips, he yanked his hand away, as if he was burned.
“L/N. As in L/N Corporations?”
“That’s me.”
Abruptly he turned to Wanda. “Do you know who this is?” he hissed. “The greatest rival to Stark Industries. I thought you were introducing your girlfriend.”
You gave him a winning smile. “I am her girlfriend Mr Stark. And you may have made me your rival, but I can assure you that you are not mine.”
Sam snorted.
“What are you doing here then? Are you here to try and steal data? You can’t...”
You paid him no mind as you winked at Sam. Spotting the metal arm, your eyes widened. “You must be Bucky, right? Princess Shuri told me she’d been working on some vibranium projects. I’d love to take a closer look some other day if you don’t mind?”
“How do you know Shuri?” Stark spluttered.
“You think that she only talks to rich boys who need her help? Sorry to burst your bubble.”
Nat couldn’t help but smirk at this.
“Oh and I’ve actually been working on some prototype Widow Bites as a bit of a free time project,” you added. “If you’re interested, your opinion on usage would really help me to refine them.”
“Of course.”
“Traitor,” Tony glared.
It’s at this point your phone began to ring. Glancing down, you offered a sheepish smile. “I’m sorry, I’ve really got to take this.” You turned to face the wall as your friendly tone turned professional.
The Avengers huddled together as your call went on.
“Is she using you for information?” Tony scowled.
Wanda scowled back. “She’s my girlfriend Stark. Not everything is about you.”
He looked as if he was going to say more, but Steve interrupted.
“Look Tony, she seemed like a perfectly lovely girl.”
“Yeah I like her,” added Sam. “She can keep your ego in check.”
“If Wanda likes her, I’m fine with it too.” Clint said.
Wanda gave him a thankful look.
A cough came awkwardly behind them.
“I really hate to cut this short everyone, but something’s come up back at the office. Investors are a pain.”
“Yeah go on back to your investors then,” spat Tony.
“Wow” you drawled, heading back to the elevator, “is the rich card the only thing you can play Stark?”
The light on the wall indicated that the cab had arrived, and you stepped inside the carriage which would take you back down, as Peter stepped out.
“Oh hey Y/N, what are you doing here?”
“I was just leaving Pete, but swing by later, alright?”
“You know it.”
“Oh and I heard you liked the hoodie I gave Wanda, Mr Stark,” you called. “I can grab you one as well, since it’s my company. But I really do gotta run now. Nice to meet you all!” The metal doors slid shut on your grinning face.
There was a silence, before Tony turned on his protégée. “How the hell are you on a first name business with her?”
“We’re friends?” Peter offered.
“Friends?”
“She went to college with me. She was super smart and we hung out and stuff. You know, what friends usually do.”
Squirming under his mentor’s gaze, he continued. “She was too smart for college though, so she dropped out and started her company. It didn’t mean we stopped being friends though.”
“Why didn’t you tell me Underoos?”
“She figured you might overreact, especially with the web sho-“ The boy’s eyes widened, and he made a mad dash for the stairs.
But Tony grabbed his wrist. “What were you saying?”
Peter sighed, running a hand through his hair anxiously. “She helped me out with my web shooters in college, and since then, she’s been developing them with me.”
“What?”
“She knows I’m Spider-Man and I work with her on my tech,” he said slowly.
The man surveyed his teammates, making deliberate eye contact with each and every one of them. “Traitors, the lot of you,” he huffed.
“I mean you gotta admit it,” laughed Sam. “She’s college age, and built an empire to rival you. Not to mention that she’s pretty, smart, has better PR and actual time management skills-“
“Okay I get it,” the genius cut him off.
“Don’t be upset,” Clint smirked, “you can’t lose if you’re not her competition.”
Tony stomped off.
“Don’t worry about him, he’ll come around,” Steve said gently, nodding at Wanda who was fiddling anxiously with her rings.
“She was cool,” added Nat. “Tony can be a pain in the ass, but he knows she’s a good person.”
Her phone buzzed in her hand.
<3: i’d say that went pretty well
Wanda: cannot believe you didn’t tell me
<3: i’m really sorry babe, please don’t hate me
Wanda: i could never
<3: just didn’t want him to stop you from fraternising with the enemy or whatever
Wanda: i’d break the rules for you any day
<3: how romantic
<3: so miss rebel, you coming over tonight?
Wanda: depends if you’re still wearing the suit

I was in the middle before I knew that I had begun.
Pairing: Wanda x Reader
Genre: Angst if you squint really hard. Fluff to make up for Marvel reminding me that Nat is dead.
Description: The falling in love of Wanda Maximoff and you. (If anyone has a better description please hit me up.)
Notes: Was going to be a one-shot and then it didn’t happen so there’s going to be a second part. It’ll probably happen in like a month though since I have a trip. Comments always appreciated. :)
- - -
You’re not sure when it happened. To be fair, neither is Wanda.
You had just started with SHIELD, and were there for the battle with Ultron, and then when Wanda became an Avenger. You remember the admiration you held for her, for her powers, for her determination to do what was right, her grit. Now, it was more of a well-deserved respect. Her strength when everything else in her life seemed to be gone, her brutal honesty regarding matters important to her, and her loyalty to those she cared about.
Maybe that’s when it started. As an exemplary agent, you could handle most things Fury assigned you, but being an Avenger? That was a whole new battleground. One that Wanda had your six on. From simple things, like showing you around the compound, and looking for you when you inevitably got lost (again). Wanda with her no frills attitude and sharp tongue, lashing out at Fury himself when he assigned you your 6th mission in 4 days. Wanda with her soft smiles that made your stomach flip and whispered jokes when she noticed your anxiousness on a mission. It wasn’t easy, keeping up with super soldiers, spies with years of experience on you, actual gods, but Wanda made it simple.
- - -
Wanda sometimes wondered if she could really be a hero. She wasn’t a good person. She had done terrible things. Then you stumbled in, a fresh agent and an even fresher Avenger, but you looked at her with no distrust. A little lost perhaps, but no malice. That confused SHIELD agent? It reminded her of, well, her. It may have been under different circumstances, but in essence, they were the same. Thrust into a world of avenging, knowing no one, knowing nothing. So she threw you a line, offered her support when you looked like you needed it. Wanda expected a bite, but she didn’t expect a tug back. The way you offered to help her practice her powers (a little naively), and then when you realised your mistake, your offer to teach her the hand to hand combat you had learned from SHIELD. The way you always looked back for her on a mission, even when you knew she could protect herself with said powers. You were on her team, a comfort she didn’t have since Pietro died. Okay well the Avengers were also her team, but you were her person, always in her corner.
- - -
It shouldn’t be this easy. Sometimes it felt like you could read each other’s minds. To be fair, Wanda could read your mind, but you knew she wouldn’t do it without your permission. Still, there was something about your unspoken agreements that came so naturally. Where everyone else was on comms, it was like the pair of you were tuned to the same wavelength, communicating in a code not even Natasha could decrypt.
“You just get me, you know?” Wanda says, as the two of you are sprawled on her bed after a mission. “It’s like our brains are, I dunno, smooshed together or something. Not even Vision feels like this, and we’re literally connected by an Infinity Stone in his head.”
“Smooshed together?” you laugh. “What an insightful description. And I can’t believe you just compared me to that toaster. I’m obviously way better than him.”
“You realise he can shoot lasers right?”
“And I can turn on a laser on the sights of my guns. Sit down, you’re not special.”
This earns you a giggle. “But it’s like you’re in my brain.”
“Oh so I’m always on your mind?”
“Shut up Y/N/N.”
“Maybe your powers are rubbing off on me,” you joke, wiggling your fingers in her face.
“I do not look like that,” cries Wanda indignantly. “And if you have my powers, what am I thinking about right now?”
“Stealing Sam’s cupcakes,” you reply with no hesitation.
“I was actually thinking about how I hope Steve never reassigns mission partners,” she says pointedly. “But now that you mention it, I could really do with a cupcake.”
“I was right then?” you tease, tugging her towards the kitchen with a cheeky grin.
Wanda rolls her eyes at you, but she mirrors your grin and your stomach is swooping again.
“For the record, you’re my favourite mission partner too.”
- - -
Wanda didn’t expect to call the compound home. She stayed because she had nowhere else to go. And with her differences with Stark and the friendly but still guarded manner of the other Avengers initially (though she didn’t blame them), she kept to herself. But you were different. She noticed the way you prioritised her, looked out for her, to the best of your ability.
She’s shaken from nightmare and automatically, her feet lead her towards you. It’s late, she knows, but when she knocks on your door, you open with an easy smile and open arms that envelop her gently. When her sobbing subsides, you break away, wiping the tear tracks with your thumb.
“Dick van Dyke?” you ask.
Nodding wordlessly, Wanda lets you lead her your bed and settles in beside you.
That’s when she notices the stacks of files illuminated by your desk light.
“Sorry,” she sniffles, throat raw from crying, “did I interrupt you?”
“Oh those?” you say, waving dismissively at your desk. “Maria’s just been on my back lately to get those done, but it’ll be fine.”
With a stab of guilt, she makes to move of the bed, but you grab her wrist before she can. “Don’t worry about it, those can wait.”
As the TV murmurs softly in the background, you wrap a comforting hand around her, and she begins to drift off, nightmares warded away by your presence.
And she wakes up the next morning with the duvet pulled over her, and you slumped at your desk.
- - -
It was an easy mission. Most missions are when you and Wanda are paired together. Get in, get the data, get out. But then HYDRA agents were swarming the building, and intel definitely didn’t mention this level of security, and the exits were blocked off.
“I’m definitely gonna punch Tony later for this,” you groan, and Wanda shoots you a smile before returning to the approaching soldiers. Silently you whip around, firing rounds at the agents on the other end of the corridor. This was one of the many “plans” you had with Wanda, the endless missions allowing you to familiarise yourself with how your two fighting styles complimented each other. Being the enhanced out of you two, Wanda would push forward, handling the bulk of attacks with a flick of her wrist. You had her back, shooting at the stragglers who came from behind. Spotting something that resembled a server room, you gave a tug on her sleeve and she nodded, reassuring you that she had it handled.
Not wanting to leave Wanda for longer than necessary, you plug in the drive to do its Stark-tech thing and bolted back outside. To find the bodies slumped en masse on both end of the hallway.
“Guess you did have it handled,” you say, waving at the uniformed soldiers.
“Oh my god that isn’t even a good pun,” the witch replies, before continuing with a smirk. “But yes, I am way more powerful than you.”
“Don’t think that was ever in question,” you say, but then alarms were blaring, and the building plunges into a red glow and then oh my god there’s a gun behind Wanda and before you knew what was happening, a shot had fired from your gun and there was a burning pain in your shoulder.
The brunette whirls around just as you collapse into the wall. “Guess you’re not as an amazing shot as I am though,” you mutter, before blacking out.
- - -
To say Wanda was in a state of panic was an understatement. It was more like a whole damn continent. As much as she reassured you before missions, your easygoing, playful attitude was her anchor  in these intense situations. Everywhere felt like home, like you two bickering on the couches. Your constant presence was like bringing a piece of the compound with her. And regardless of her experience as an Avenger, as an ex-agent, you were undoubtedly better with running missions. Not everything was a save the world type threat after all.
Eyes darting around, Wanda noted that you had indeed shot the last agent, before skimming across your bleeding out form.
The training doors opened with a bang and Wanda turned to the noise. Then she found herself pinned to the floor.
“Stay focused on the mission,” you scolded, before helping her back up.
The drive. You’d be pissed if she didn’t get it. Sprinting into the server room, she rips it from the port.
“Okay don’t laugh at me, but this is my hierarchy of the 3 Is.”
“Eyes?” Wanda asks.
“No, like the letter I. At the top is innocents, and they’re my priority. Steve says you can’t save everyone, but I can damn sure try. Next is the idiots. That’s the mission. ‘Cause I’d say you’re pretty damn stupid to go up against the Avengers. And finally we have Iron Man, or the heroes. As much as it’s going to hurt, we can’t let the sentiment get in the way. We all knew what we were signing up for, and I’m pretty sure all of us would rather it be us than someone else.”
“Thank you o wise one,” she mocks.
Wanda smiles a little at the memory, but tears pool at her eyes. Then she hears it, the faint footsteps pulling her back from her daze.
“Damn you and your stupid heart of gold,” she whispers, before flying the two of you back to the ship.
- - -
The steady beeping tugs you from slumber.
“Oh you’re up.”
You strain your neck to see Tony walking up with a bowl in his hands.
“You don’t sound very excited to see me Stark.”
“Not when I have to bring meals up here every day for Maximoff,” he says, pointing at the sleeping girl on the chair. “Hasn’t moved for days. Figured I’d hand deliver as an apology.”
“Aw did she punch you for me?”
“Worse,” he chuckled. “Gave me an earful.”
“I’d say you deserve it after that.”
He rubs his neck sheepishly. “Really, I’m sorry though. That was on me.”
“Don’t worry about it,” you smile. “I’ll be fine. And thanks for looking after her.”
Tony nods politely before leaving the meal and you two alone.
“It’s good to have you back kiddo,” he calls, before shutting the door.
Reaching an arm through the railing, you poke Wanda’s elbow.
“Meal delivery for Miss Maximoff?”
The curled up form stirs a little, rubbing her eyes, before freezing in shock.
“You’re back!”
“Apparently so,” you reply with a wry grin.
Wanda leans over the hospital bed, green eyes searching for any injuries.
“I missed you,” she murmurs.
“And you missed one-“
A slap hits you on your injured arm, and you hiss in pain.
“I’m not apologising for that one,” she glares.
Raising your good arm up in surrender, you pout. “Don’t I get a pity pass?”
“Not for worrying me like that.”
“But it wasn’t even my fault!”
She rolls her eyes (she seems to do that a lot at you some reason).
“Wait,” you frown, “we broke our perfect mission streak.”
“Are you kidding me right now?”
Then she’s hugging you, her nose pressed into your neck. Her soft brown hair cascades over your face like a waterfall, tickling your chin. Through your gown, you’re hyper-aware of the cool metal of the rings which adorn her fingers, how nice she smells, how right it feels to be held by her.
“I’m glad you’re okay,” she mumbles, her breath warming your neck, and your stomach is doing acrobatics. Even with the meds, you’re aware that this feels familiar, like something.
Pulling away, she studies your face. “Never. Do. That. Again.”
You laugh. “Glad we’re in agreement.”
It must be the meds, it must be.

Bet On It
Pairing: Wanda x Reader Genre: Mentions of smut? (It’s literally nothing.) Fluff? Description: The Avengers place bets on when you’re going to make a move on Wanda. Notes: Inspired by an episode of Girl from Nowhere on Netflix, my first Wanda fic, and my first Tumblr post. Feedback appreciated. :)

“Before I conclude today’s meeting, I would like to formally welcome our newest Avenger, Y/N L/N,” announced Steve, walking you around the room.
As a highly esteemed SHIELD Agent with a track record of being efficient and effective under pressure, it wasn’t long before Fury called you in to work with the Avengers, before promoting you to be on yourself. Of course, you weren’t enhanced, but what you lacked in powers, you made up for with confidence, intelligence, and your ability to make a mean grilled cheese.
“Well of course, you already know most of us, and Thor is off world, but I’ll do the introductions nonetheless. Tony-“
“Billionaire. Playboy. Philanthropist. Daddy issues. Yeah I know the deal, Captain Rogers.”
Sam snickered loudly. “You hear that Tony?”
“I’m cutting your pay for that L/N,” Tony laughed, feigning annoyance.
“I mean I’m a trained spy. I’d just steal your credit card.”
Clearing his throat, Steve continued. “Sam, Bucky-“
“You show Sam what that arm do yet Bucky?”
“I’ll throw you across the room with that arm,” Bucky threatened, but you could tell there was no bite.
“But then you’d have no one to annoy you all day.”
“I wish,” he sighed.
“Okay moving on, Bruce-“
“Take me out on a date before you lose your shirt like last mission, alright buddy?”
Bruce (and the Hulk inside) chuckled at the joke. “Welcome on board Y/N.”
“Alright here’s Clint-“
“How are the kids?” you asked.
“Good,” he smiled. “Actually, Lila’s taken to archery.”
“And to think you wouldn’t teach me,” you complained.
“Don’t they teach you at SHIELD?”
“How long has it been since you were there?” you retorted. “Oh right, I forgot you’re an old person. Archery is outdated.”
“You take that back,” Clint grinned.
You simply grinned back in response.
“Ahh Nat, my favourite ass-kicker,” you drawled.
“What, no joke for me?” Nat questioned.
“Pretty sure I’d get my assed kicked.”
“Fair enough,” Nat replied, lips curling into a smirk.
“Vision,” you nodded. “Out of curiosity, can you do the robot?”
“Very funny Miss L/N. But seeing as I can access the Internet, I would assume I can do any and all variations of it.”
“You’ll have to show me sometime.”
“Agent L/N are you done?” groaned Steve.
“Please, don’t be such a party pooper Captain Rogers,” you huffed, crossing your arms. “And first impressions are everything, right?”
“Thank god we’re almost done,” he mumbled. “Anyway, our newest members, who you wouldn’t have met yet, Wanda and Pietro.”
“The speedster,” you prompted. “You know the SHIELD folks are gossiping about the good looking man with blond hair.”
“Bet I could speed my way into your heart,” he replied with a charming smile.
You laughed lightly at him as the girl next to him nudged him in the ribs.
Taking the ring adorned fingers of brunette, you kissed the back of her hand gently. “And a pleasure to be in your presence, Miss Maximoff.”
Rolling her eyes, she blushed, but allowed you to continue.
Coughing loudly, Steve interrupted. “Wanda, do you want to show Agent L/N to her room?”
With your hands still connected, she gave a brief nod to the super solider before tugging you out of the meeting room.
“Aw, not even a hello?” you laughed at your girlfriend as she pulled you up the stairs.
“Do you have to embarrass me front of them?” Wanda replied with a small smile.
“How else are they gonna know much I love you?”
You smirked as Wanda flushed again. Even 7 months into dating, she still got flustered every time, and it was ridiculously cute. And you couldn’t help but feel a small sense of pride that it was your words that had this effect on her.
“Anyway, here’s your room darling,” she announced, pushing open the door.
A spacious room with neutral hues greeted you. Sunlight streamed through the window, which housed a view of the city. A bed was pushed up against the corner, and a desk against the opposite wall. A large TV hung above it.
“Stark sure knows how to spend his cash... Anyway, you wanna help me set up?”
“We both know you’ll end up sleeping in my bed dekta. It’s just across the hall anyway.”
“Someone’s being forward today,” you teased. “But you’re probably right.”
“So, blanket fort and movies then?” you turned to Wanda with a cheeky grin.
“In the afternoon?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.
“I’m a full grown adult, I can do whatever I want,” you declared. “And I want a blanket fort.”
The witch rolled her eyes at you once more. “I’ll go get snacks.” “Yessss!” you cheered. “I’ll raid your room for blankets. Meet you here in 5!”
Meanwhile in the meeting room...
“Did you guys see that?” Tony asked, a cunning glint in his eye.
“I don’t like that look Tony,” Steve warned.
“In the words of Y/N, don’t be such a party popper,” he waved dismissively. “But did you guys all see that? I could’ve cut the sexual tension between Y/N and Wanda with a knife.”
“I’m not sure you know what that is Tony,” Bucky replied. “That’s just flirting.”
“You’re literally from the 1900s, I doubt you’d know.”
“You know,” cut in Sam, “Stark might be onto something here. Wanda didn’t stare them down until they questioned their existence.”
“Thank you Sam,” Tony continued, “Need I remind you, she literally kissed her hand and wasn’t immediately thrown out the building.”
“What are you suggesting?” Bruce asked.
“Ah, ever the perceptive one Brucie. So,” Tony grinned, “when do you think they’ll hook up? I’m betting $200 on a week from today.”
“Tony,” Steve scolded, “you can’t place bets on teammates.”
“And I don’t think betting on this is a good idea Stark,” Pietro added. “Especially when they’re alre-“
“You too Pietro?” Tony jumped in again. “Didn’t take you for being such a spoilsport like Capsicle here. Who else is in?”
“No way I’m letting you win without a competition,” Clint said, pushing himself off the wall. “$50 on 4 days,” he declared, digging out his wallet.
“That’s a little soon, don’t you think?” asked Sam.
“Y/N can be charming when she needs to be.”
“Oh hell no. A girl like Wanda needs to be romanced. I’m betting on 26 days.” Sam chimed.
“Can’t let you boys have all the fun. 2 weeks.” called Nat from the end of the room.
“Nat,” Steve said pointedly.
“It’ll be fine Rogers, it’s just a bit of fun.”
“Alright then,” Tony clapped. “We’ll write our bets on a sticky note with our money, and we’ll keep it in this envelope so no one cheats.”
“But there’s no point cheating, since I’m gonna win,” proclaimed Sam.
“I doubt it,” replied Bucky. “But I’m not saying no to cash. Count me in.”
“According to my calculations, I estimate it will be 18 days and 14 hours,” stated Vision.
“So you in?”
“Based on my observations, this is a team bonding activity, so I will participate.”
“Yeah it’s your favourite, bonding, Rogers,” Tony laughed. “You can get your notes to me any time, as long as Y/N isn’t around.”
- - -
You were were fixing yourself a cup of coffee in the kitchen when Clint sidled up to you. “What’s up old man?”
“Well,” he started. “As much as I am protective over Wanda, I do wanna know. When are you going to make a move on her?”
You knocked over your cup (thankfully empty) in surprise. “What do you mean?”
“She clearly has a soft spot for you, and you think she’s pretty, right?”
“With eyes like that, she doesn’t even need to put a spell on me,” you replied. “Also watching her beat up bad guys? Hot.”
“Yeah so what are you wait-“
“Y/N,” hollered a flash of blue, coming to a skidding halt next to you. “You said you’d spar with me.”
“If you could use your super speed to make my coffee brew faster, I’ll come.”
“Ugh you can have coffee later,” Pietro complained. “Come on.”
“Guess this conversation can wait,” you turned to Clint with an apologetic smile. Before you could say anything else, Pietro had already dashed with you to the training room.
- - -
“What’s his deal?” you puffed at Pietro, trying to regain your breath after a solid hour of training.
“Clint?” he asked.
“Yeah, that conversation before was kinda weird.”
“They have a bet on you and Wanda.”
“What kind of bet?” you inquired, interest piqued.
“When you’re gonna hook up.”
You chuckled to yourself before pausing abruptly. “Wait, they don’t know?
“Mhm.”
“Well then,” you smirked mischievously.
- - -
“I am never letting you drag me out to jog again,” you yelled, shoving Pietro into the living room.
“Not my fault you can’t keep up,” he laughed.
“It’s literally your fault, you said you wouldn’t use your powers.”
“That sounds like a you problem.”
“Well you, owe me a coffee.”
The rustling of paper drew you two out of your banter. The Avengers were sprawled on the couches, and in seeing you, Bucky moved to stand in front of the table in the middle.
“What’s going on here?” you questioned, walking over and perching yourself on the edge of a couch.
“I told you this was a bad idea Tony,” hissed Steve.
“What’s a bad idea? you pushed further.
“Bets,” mumbled Sam. “On you and Wanda getting it on.”
At least he had the decency to look sheepish.
Chuckling to yourself, you turned to them. “Well go on then, don’t let me stop you.”
“It’s over anyway,” said Tony quickly, trying to grab all the notes sprawled across the wooden table.
“Don’t be a party pooper,” you smirked, plucking a note from from his hands. “I’ll start.”
Unfolding the adhesive, you read out the messy scrawl on the page. “4 days.”
“Do you really think so lowly of me Clint?” you drawled. “But no, it wasn’t 4 days.”
The archer looked up from the floor in confusion.
Delicately opening another, “26 days.”
“Wow, and you think so highly of me bird man, thanks,” you grinned. “Surprisingly, Sam is closer.”
“L/N what are you doing?” Tony demanded.
Ignoring him, you continued. “18 days and 14 hours from Vision. We’re getting warmer here. 14 days from Nat.”
Turning to the assassin, you beamed at her. “I always had faith in your abilities. That’s a pretty good guess.”
A loud cough came from the doorway as none other than Wanda dragged herself into the room.
“Back from training so soon babe?” you called, the pet name rolling off your tongue.
A pillow hit you on the face moments later. “You sneaky bastard, I’ll give you that,” smirked Nat.
You stuck your tongue out back at her.
“What are you guys doing?” asked Wanda, walking to stand next to you and placing a hand on your shoulder.
“Well,” you turned, “in the words of Sam, they’ve been betting on when we’re going to get it on.”
Your girlfriend’s face went as red as a tomato. “Why are we talking about this,” she mumbled, burying her face into your neck.
You just chuckled good naturedly again. “Go on Tony, read that one you got there. I want to know who got the closest.”
The billionaire cleared his throat awkwardly before reading. “15 days, 15 hours and 15 minutes.”
Yanking her head up, Wanda looked at you. “Is this why you insisted on waiting 7 minutes?”
“Yep!”
She groaned and buried her head again. “I hate you.”
“Well Tony, who’s guess was that?”
His eyes widened. “Y/N...” he trailed off.
Moving off the couch, you began to gather the money. “I guess this is all mine then.”
“I actually hate you,” groaned Wanda.
“You can’t hate me, I’m rich!” you declared dramatically, fanning the bills in your hand. “And I know what will make you not hate me, ice cream! C’mon Wands.” You pulled her away.
“What? I want ice cream too,” Pietro whined.
“You’re welcome to come if you want to see us making out,” you told him.
“Shut up Y/N,” called Wanda, as noises of disgust came from her brother simultaneously.
“But for your services,” you thumbed a couple of bills, and slapped them into his hand. “Gotta say, Captain America must be proud of our excellent demonstration of teamwork,” you winked cheekily at Steve, before high fiving Pietro.
“I’ll see you all later,” you said as you sent a winning smile to the rest of the Avengers.
And they could only sit there gaping as you two strolled out the compound hand in hand.
“I tried to tell you they were dating,” smirked Pietro, before dashing out of the room.
There was a few moments of shocked silence, before Sam spoke up. “Damn, we just got played.”
