Thank you for apologizing, I’ve lost a lot of really important things due to whatever is going on with me. Unfortunately for me, whatever is going on has impacted my life in very odd ways.

My memory has been erratic and some skills that I used to know well (planning things, paying my bills on time, remembering to eat and drink water, ability to tell what emotions I’m experiencing, and some of my math knowledge which sucks when you’re a math tutor!) do not come so easily.

My vocabulary and grammar has also taken a hit so all the big words i used to know how to spell well are sadly not as easy for me to access anymore so I apologize for not explaining myself properly in my initial post. Just wanted it to be a silly relatable thing for people who are like me and may be experiencing a pretty significant change.

For me I’ve actually had a pretty decent change in my personality since starting to unmask in September or October (which was not planned and unfortunately meant that my school work suffered severely).

I think it’s good in these cases to assume ignorance rather than malice. I used to assume people were intentionally being rude or mean online or if they weren’t informed on a word that I should correct quickly bc how else will people learn to now? but now I’ve seen a lot more open discussion online that shoes that a lot of people just kinda. Aren’t super informed on autistic topics. It’s great that you want to bring to light the severeity of regression, especially when it has such a huge effect for so many people. I think also it’s good to remember that the people behind the screen usually just hear a term like regression or burnout and are given conflicting definitions online which leads to poor usage and stuff.

I can barely do every day normal tasks and it is driving me bonkers. What do you MEAN I don’t remember anything front a few months ago???? And I have to pay for things and remember to feed myself?? Wtf!!

Hey dawg, I’m not gonna do that. Bc it takes a long time and I believe we have gotten our wires crossed a bit. What I was talking about was my own experiencing with autistic burnout and autistic regression which has led to a pretty severe decrease in my ability to interact with skills that once came very easily to me. I’m sorry that my wording wasn’t quite right and that my description was so casual when the topic you’re talking about is very serious and the one I’m talking about pretty much just affects my day to day functioning as an adult in the world. I hope you can forgive me.

For me, autistic burn out and autistic regression have been a struggle. Things that were once easy tasks like remembering to eat or how to spell words or grammar or even general scripts that I used while masking have been sort of jumbled up and have once again become things I have to learn again. Topics I learned in previous classes that I SHOULD remember are no longer stored in a place in my head where I can recall them. It has affected my educational and personal life quite a bit and in dropping a lot of my masking it has also ostracized me in a lot of ways from my peers. I have a harder time regulating myself now, and coping skills that once worked no longer do. I am having to learn a lot of things that I learned how to do years ago because unmasking has led to a lot of the skills that were tied to my mask no longer being accessible to me without masking.

Maybe I was too casual about how it has severely affected my life but I didn’t want to share a sob story on tumblr bc frankly it feels like a very personal and private thing.
