ive been thinking about my identity as being queer a lot lately, and i've come to a conclusion within myself that i need to stop being ashamed of myself.
i feel like there's this sort of weight over all of us as a community, an expectation. i can't really think of a word for it, but it's a belief pushed on us that we need to try and be like every other person because we're queer. we need to try and fit in, we need to try and become just like cisgender and straight people.
but why? why do so many of us feel this way, including myself? since when are we expected to be just like everyone because we aren't? it's fucking stupid and i can't believe it's taken me so long to realize this!
i'm queer, i'm LGBTQ+, i'm a fucking faggot and i'm not ashamed of that.
fuck yeah i'm wearing a whole bunch of rainbow shit with a backpack covered in pride pins.
fuck yeah im making it part of my personality.
fuck yeah my identity is really complicated, but its me! its who i am and im proud of it!
the LGBTQ+ community IS a community to those who want it to be. it isnt a problem to feel connected to other people because of it! that. isnt. a. problem. its part of what makes you happy when you see someone wearing a pride pin, youre connected to them! theres a connection!
i love queer people. i love this community. i love being queer. im shamelessly proud of being a queer and im not going to let random conservatives tell me that i cant be.

This is so real. Conservatives act like theyd rather have GNC people be cis than transition but the reality is that they don't want cisgender GNC people to exist either. The gender binary as it exists today doesn't allow any middle ground between complete gender conformity and getting discriminated against. Tomboys just barely get to exist (but not without resistance) but any slightly GNC man will make the average conservative furious beyond belief.
