take an old piece that you know well, be it a chapter, a ficlet, or a quick drabble, and re-write it from memory

My husband says my plotting process looks exhausting, and maybe he's right.
Anyway—I reworked some plotting for my Hassian x OC fic (which I've since dubbed Beetle and Bowstring). Here it is laid out. I use Milanote to plot out my books/fics. I can show more of how I use it if people are interested!

WIP Wednesday
Wanted to share a quick excerpt from one of several original WIP’s that I’m working on. This one is from Of Yarrow and Daffodils, a contemporary Romantasy I’m working on.

“Do I have a choice?”
“You always have a choice.”
“It doesn’t feel like it,” he mumbled, “Are you sure you’re not just manipulating me into doing what you want again? Real clever. Making me think this trip was just an excuse to hang out with me.”
Oh, Zebulon wanted to do this now. Fine. If he wanted to aim at low hanging fruit, she could definitely go lower.
“You have a choice,” she said sharply, “I know that I suck, and trust me, the guilt is killing me right now, but I never once left you without a choice. The same can’t be said for me.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Your confession? In front of everyone.”
He blinked.
“I never wanted to go out with you. Shocker, I know. But the situation you created made it impossible for me to refuse without looking like the biggest asshole.”
At the time, Eusadora thought she had a choice, but looking back, not really. Refusing him would have made things that much worse for her. Everyone would have made her out to be the villain and she was tired of being the villain in another man’s story.

The color drained from her face. She nearly succeeded in forgetting about the whole ordeal with Tamala, but the memories came flooding back to her as Hassian stormed inside, trailing mud and grass in after him. He looked displeased, more displeased than Caleri if possible, and she looked ready to burst. It wasn’t too far off from his usual expression, but this particular brand of ire seemed reserved specifically for her.
Aleeta stood and tried to play it cool. “Hey, Hassian. What brings you in? I don’t think we’ve gotten any new—”
“You’ve made a mess of things,” he growled, “Why would you tell Tamala we’re—” He stopped himself, shooting a wary glance at the two older women who listened with rapt interest. He stepped closer and lowered his voice. “Why would you tell Tamala we’re dating?”
Silly, silly, Hassian.
Caleri heard all, and she definitely heard that. She stifled a gasp in her palm and whispered in Elouisa’s ear whose gasp was less conspicuous. Aleeta suppressed a heavy sigh.

One of the things I would like to have someday about writing is to have a fandom (It doesn't have to be thousands or so, just with a few I would already be convulsing LMAO), not for myself, but for the world I have created, for the characters, to see people this involved in what I have written. CREATING FANARTS (I would probably faint if I saw a fanart of a character of mine). A community of people who love something as much as you do, who are inspired by your work, who feel accompanied/identified/safe with what you created.
Create something that I have felt being part of fandoms myself.
It seems so surreal and so massive and incredible to even think about it, and I think that thinking that maybe what you write can cause and help someone to that point, may help you continue writing sometimes, cause it really is like WOW

When Effie, who has clearly fallen for Juniper without even knowing it, puts hours upon hours of thought and emotion into his jacket,
The love that she isn't even aware of is placed in Junipers hands,
To him, she essentially just gave him a love letter...
And then immediately got engaged to another man,
no wonder this man is speechless what a confusing and devastating experience

Felle: Felle said nothing as she reached behind the bar to grab a bottle. She uncorked it, took a long swig and returned it, all while the bartender's back was turned.
Crisanto: Cris buried his face in his hand as he held out his cup. "Please."
Enrie: "Ugh, this is the worst. If I could drink I would."
Jomari: "Enough of the doom and gloom. A drink'll numb us just fine. Somebody get me a drink!"
This might have been slightly cheating, but some of my characters are action over words sometimes, which I think in and of itself can show character/voice.
