Hand-embroidered vintage postcard of Switzerland.
Postage on the back shows that it was sent in 1958 from Gersau, Switzerland. The postage also commemorates the two-hundredth anniversary of Nyon, a municipality in Switzerland.
With my embroidery and beadwork, I tried to enhance the simple beauty of the image, while adding texture and color.
I save up all the little painted sections that I make for other artworks, but for whatever reason were not used... Then once there's a good pile, I made abstract textile art out of them :)
All the remaining canvas will be filled with tiny stitched fabrics once done
How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives. What we do with this hour, and that one, is what we are doing. A schedule defends from chaos and whim. It is a net for catching days. A schedule is a mock-up of reason and order—willed, faked, and so brought into being; it is a peace and a haven set into the wreck of time; it is a lifeboat on which you find yourself, decades later, still living.

I was lucky enough to have lunch with Etgar Keret while in Tel Aviv.
Etgar , with his deft hand, named this drawing “The Carrot Of Damocles”.
If you haven’t read his books, I highly recommend. Start anywhere! One of my favorites is “The Bus driver who wanted to be God”; one of my favorite quotes comes from there.

When Winter, the Red Onion Tree
Throws up snaggled arms
Wild berries fly and land
Rolling, finding a home
Amongst foliage they nest
And slowly grow little trunks and limbs
When it's next season
They do what they've just learned
