It hurt. It hurt, but it felt so good.
The blood slid down my chin, my throat, warming the cool, dark ache that nestled between my ribs. Oh, this was better than any opium the family doctor could provide me.
I shouldn't have done it, the gasps escaping past my lips told me that much. I was drowning in the taste of him, the one standing between me and the throne.
At last, he was an ancient history of my kingdom, one that would be sung for millennium to come from the throats of my offspring.
His heart was beating no longer in the palm of my hand as I crunched the flesh between my teeth and swallowed.
My infant brother tasted of nothing more than a dead legacy in my growling, vengeful stomach that wished to feast on more.

my 9 sentences (im sorry idk how to connect them 😭😭😭) :
“Okay,” I agree, mouth working too slow to voice the words. Everything seems to move lethargically now— the pace of war sticks even after the adrenaline long dies off. It’s all the same except for me; my heightened senses always smelling the ghosts of movements not yet spurred. It’s all the same except for what it scarred of me and what it saved of them.
A moment passes and falls too slow before there’s a difference to the air: something happier. It floats in my chest, buoying my heart, before it waves back, wagging off— I almost miss it.
Almost.
But then, everything goes as fate’s butter fingers spilt it out to, and the moment is forgotten, traded instead for the collared stiffness that affects the air with a bittersweet note. It sits on my tongue before I wash it down with a sigh: just like last time.
