First Draft ✅
Bonjour. So, as promised I didn’t write another blog post. Four whole months later and I’m back, to tell you, I can really shake that… no no that. I’m here to tell you that I wrote the first draft of a screen play. Bosh! Now I just need to redraft it, then redraft some more… and probably redraft several more times before I then pop it online and make millions. Because that’s how it works right?…

A note to self?
A note to self?
Good morning you beautiful people. I’ve been absent for a short while. Took a six weeks holiday to spend time on the farm with family. Sal wanted to go home for part of her maternity leave, so off we went. Packed up the car, inserted Tiny T and the Woofer into said car… ‘so long suckers!’ Off we went. Six whole weeks of doing nothing, it was bloody lovely. Although, I did have all these grand…

Hi, is this the support group for caffeine addicts?
Hi, is this the support group for caffeine addicts?
I’ve given up Caffeine… sort of. It was an emotionally difficult choice to make but coffee has become something of an abusive lover. I drink it because I want it, but it’s no good for me. The more I drink thinking it will change, the more it resists and the more disillusioned I become. This may be a slight exaggeration of course but I’m not had a great relationship with it. I’ve found myself…

An Emotional Retraction to the Norm.
An Emotional Retraction to the Norm.
It’s weird how you change when you have a child. I’ve always been quite emotionally detached… comes with the job. I’ve seen a lot of death, grief and suffering thus far in my career. It’s rarely fair and frequently heartbreaking. I’ve seen those who were ready to die but weren’t allowed. I’ve seen those who didn’t want to die but went regardless. From those that should but wont, to those who…

All the Gear, a Vague Idea.
You ever have a child and wonder what you did before they came along? I’m at that moment now. Having spent the last year in and out of lockdown, I struggle to remember how I actually filled my time. Now I can’t remember having time, free time, to do with as I please. Life now dances to a different routine, not my routine of choice, but one that suits Baby T. He now runs this household and I jump…

“The Vegans are coming!”
“The Vegans are coming!”
It’s a weird concept being allergic to Cows milk protein. I suppose it’s more of a weird concept that we actually drink cow’s milk in the first place. Vegans Unite! Not really, I do love dairy. It’d be the one thing I’d struggle to give up. Not even milk, it’s the cheese and yogurt I’d struggle with. Now, you can buy some lovely dairy free yogurts but I’m yet to find an alternative cheese; a…

Say No to undigested cow’s milk protein.
Say No to undigested cow’s milk protein.
Cows Milk Allergy. Abdominal pain, Eczma, Congested breathing, reflux/vomiting, sneezing etc. We read the list and it’s everything baby T has. He came off the breast after five weeks, for which he’d been a mixture of breast and formula. Sal had still found the breast feeding uncomfortable, even at 5 weeks in, and he was just too hungry to stay breast alone. The last two weeks have been on pure…

PPI anyone? (Proton pump inhibitor that is)
PPI anyone? (Proton pump inhibitor that is)
Welcome to 2021, it’s much the same as 2020. We are already back in lockdown not a week into it. We spent the new year watching Britain’s angriest orphan shoot people on tv (Skyfall) before popping Jools Holland on to see in the new year. I doubt the man has ever had as good a viewing figure. We were in bed half an hour later. It’s the least rock and roll new year I’ve had. 2019 we were over in…

Hello Caffeine my old friend. I’ve come to talk to you again.
Hello Caffeine my old friend. I’ve come to talk to you again.
Baby T turned 2 weeks the other day. That’s him there in the photo. I am not longer sure why people say they slept like a baby. I’m currently living my child’s sleep routine and I’m knackered. Baby T is still following his three hour cycle. He sleeps for three hours, wakes, screams for a boob / bottle and then guzzles it down merrily. Post boob or bottle he gets grouchy until he’s had a good…

Sleep, wake, feed, poo, feed and repeat.
Sleep, wake, feed, poo, feed and repeat.
Baby T is 5 days old today and he’s already the boss. He knows what he wants and he knows the best way to get it is to scream. Something Priti Patel knows only too well.
The last 5 days have been a bit of a blur and yet it already feels like I’ve being doing this a lifetime. After a few tentative nappy changes, a few messy bottle feeds and some awkward holding, Fatherhood strangely feels like…

Baby boy!!
Sal had a C-section delivery. We were at 41weeks and 2 day when he arrived.
We had opted to go down the induced delivery route. A scan (pre-induction) showed the babies legs were off the chart (??) and he was weighing in at approximately 9lbs. At the time we still didn’t know the sex but came to the conclusion we must be having a frog.
We had had no signs of labour post 40 week, so…

Induction
Sal went into hospital yesterday to be induced. Supposed to be a quick in and out but the Doctor was AWOL. The Consultant Midwife hadn’t bothered her arse writing in the notes from her last appointment either. This meant the planned induction via a pessary was delayed. Sarah went in a 6pm but by the time the midwives managed to locate a doctor to prescribe said pessary, it was 4am. She was bedded…

I'd like my baby well done please Midwife.
I’d like my baby well done please Midwife.
Well, still no baby. And that is not for the want of actual trying. Sal’s done every old wives tale going. She even took to drinking caster oil yesterday, which I’m sure was delightful. Especially as it was blended with the above (picture). Thankfully though she didn’t get the shits, which is supposedly common after ingestion.
We had a midwife appointment today at the hospital. I’m still not…

Friday the 13th. Still no Baby.
Friday the 13th. Still no Baby.
We’re 2 days past our IVF due date and the wee bairn isn’t ready the world. I can’t say I blame him/her. I’m fast approaching 40 and I’m still not ready for the real world. People would always ask if I would like the baby would come early. I always said I would rather it didn’t, I was too busy kicking the arse out of my last days of freedom. I was only joking of course, we’re quite blessed to…

Quantum Deep: Part 4 - Geordie Racer
Quantum Deep: Part 4 – Geordie Racer
Transitioning is a strange process, thought Scotty. He was transitioning for the third time and although each time the sensations were similar, they had each had their own uniqueness depending on the body and situation he was in. People and creatures all feel the world differently and Scotty experienced this as he became them.
As the transition progressed, a feeling like you’re full of…

The IVF due date
The IVF due date
No baby yet. Were 5 days past the Scan-predicted due date of the 6th. The IVF due date is today.
We’ve been getting a lot of phone calls and texts to check up on us, which is both sweet and annoying.
“No news yet,” I tell them.
And now that the Wife (Sal) is 40 weeks, you can’t ring anyone either without them thinking you’re calling with news of the new arrival.
“No, just saying…

Baby on the way
Baby on the way
Last Friday my wife passed her due date. We’re on standby.
‘Are you ready for this?’ I ask.
‘I love the way you say, are we ready for this. You’re not pushing anything. I’d prefer it if you were doing some of this.’ Was the shortened version of the reply.
‘I’ll remind you of that when you wake me in labour,’ I say. ‘Crack on, off you pop to hospital.’
It’s all light hearted.…
