Oh lord, the unspeakable incident. I think Jason actually acknowledging it short circuited some sort of wire in me because I've just been soaking in the river (de)nile regarding this.
damian: you bumbling bafoon! never in my life have i met such a -
jason: big words considering i fucked your mom.
dick: YOU DID WHAT?!

This hurt my teeny brain to look at. The mere thought of the Batfam's ages lowkey stress me out a little. So, nowadays I kinda just say screw it and pretend they don't age at all and they're all the ages I feel would nicely vibe with whatever story.
(Who needs consistent age gaps and birthdays? Certainly not the Batfam since this is lowkey what the comics do to them too.)
Trying to figure out a reasonable age difference for the Robins is like the worst math word problem except you measure the answer with your heart

evil gojoooo ughhhhhh I love this consept smmmm
they also took megimi and his sister with them. the megumi's only condition for going with them was that they ensure his sister's safety /or he'd go to the zenin clan, whatever you prefer/

I have this weird relationship with Harry Potter (not the character, the books/movies/stories) and I need to tell someone about it. I don't feel much toward the actual story (it's me, not the book, I'm the problem), but there are three things I love in this universe.
Its mostly THE LOREEE. Nothing interests me in Harry Potter more than the Lore. Not quite the main story, but the story of smaller characters. The stories of what happened waaay before our current characters even existed.
1. Tom Riddle. His birth, collection of horcurxes, all of it, I loved. The was an air of undeniable darkness that wa so different from the main story.
2. Regulus Black. So incredibly niche, I don't know how to find anything on it except that one video essay about his life on YouTube by MovieFlame I've watched a billion times. But the idea of an unknown hero. Someone who is thought to be a coward, a deatheater, even by his loved ones is actually a hero who died for good.
3. Cedric Diggory. Hufflepuff representation. Also a genuinely good person who exceeded expectations and died for it. It's the idea that he clearly had so much potential, but "kill the spare." And he just died. He was a spare. Voldermort didn't think anyone but Harry Potter would win, and then, here comes this hufflepuff pretty boy who does exactly that? (Also, Robert Pattinson for the win).
So you see my predicament. The only parts of Harry Potter I actually care for are so random– and as someone who likes crossover fanfictions with other fandoms, idk who the hell would be making these.
ALSO important note: I'm not saying Harrpy Potter is bad or anything. I just really like these specific parts while the story itself doesn't interest me as much. :)

I found and watched White Collar because of the batfam crossover fics actually. I think its several factors that caused this random thing. One of the reasons is probably because Dick Grayson and Neal Caffrey give off very similar vibes. Both are considered extremely charming, attractive, smart, non-violent (Dick, in comparison to other DC characters) and have a very large skillset. I could totally picture Matt Bomer in White Collar, playing Dick Grayson almost the same way he plays Neal Caffrey. Another reason, generally characters with a big fandom (like the batfamily) have enough people and there's a higher chance that these people are also into less popular fandoms, who see the similarities and simply want to do a crossover. Another, another reason (I believe this was also mentioned in a different repost) is characters with the previously mentioned large skillset are compatible to crossover AS other characters because they're skilled enough to do so. That's why it's believable if Dick Grayson (one of the oldest batfamily members and literally trained by THE BATMAN) is able to pull of playing Neal Caffrey (who is also really smart, with a large skillset).
Some of the kinds of things you see Neal do are something you would think Batman would've probably drilled into the brain of his first Robin. Things like thinking out of the box, lock picking, lying/being deceptive, research (which alludes to the fact that Dick could totally research artifacts and arts well enough to resemble a certain amount of the knowledge that Neal would have on the subject).
Another reason is that it's a really cool idea. I'm someone who LOVES undercover shit. (Part of why I loved White Collar so much) and the idea that Neal Caffrey (non-violent conman, charming and super romantic art theif, who's also pretty damn smart) is actually a vigilante who works in the dead of night in Gotham city alongside Batman and has saved the world a dozen times. THEN the collective 'wtf' from the supporting cast of White Collar is also really funny.
While usually this trope is done with Dick Grayson (most similarities), he is often replaced with the other Batbros, like Jason, Tim and sometimes Damian.
I usually read Jason because he's my favourite, he comes with the complexities of very much being violent. So its interesting to see why he isn't anymore, or how he tries to hide it or control himself and then proceeds to inevitably blow his cover by doing something insane. There's a lot of things an author can add with each bat character with their quirks, trauma, or just them physically (because Jason is built like a fridge and that don't make sense for Neal, except maybe he uses body language superman style to make it seem like something else).
There's also some of the supporting cast being Batfamily members. Like Duke Thomas being Clinton Jones, or Mozzie being Tim in a disguise or something.
There could also be situations where Peter finds Neal in an extremely weird situation as his Bat counterpart—maybe one of his siblings are visiting, or a particular scar, maybe the way they act when their alter ego is mentioned. Sometimes the White Collar crew goes to Gotham for a mission, obvious shenanigans there, with body doubles and everything.
This trope could be really funny with all the incredulous things happening. Or pretty serious, and explores why the character isn't a vigilante anymore. Maybe they are going undercover, or they don't want the vigilante lifestyle anymore.
The popularity of this trope, obviously the leads to ships/fics where both Neal and whatever bat character are separate people. Maybe instead of being the same person Neal was connected to the Bats in some way.
(Sorry this got a bit long)
Could someone please explain this Batfam as characters from White Collar trend that seems to keep crossing my dash? I don't watch the show (it is a show, right?) and I'm just baffled...

THIS IS AMAZING- I need more of Wizards being surprised by modern 'magic'.
Also I like this world view. I'm keeping it.
Fucked up how humanity discovered electricity and radiation and made machines and learned to make airplanes and cured diseases and our takeaway isnt that "Some Magic Is Real And Here's Why", but that magic is fake this is big boy science and it's totally not magical

Dear White Collar Side Of Tumblr,
I harbour great news within my heart and words, for the people have heard hushed rumours and whispers of something wonderful for those of us awaiting. Could it possibly be true?
Tumblr media
Old timey role play aside, it might (we can't be too sure) just be happening and if it does I might just cry. Like, what are the odds?? This show ended 10 years ago (holy shit), and I've known it for a little more than a year and half. My hopes are so high.

There is a SatoSugu fic out there that I can't find and I absolutely need to reread it, so if someone could help me out here that'd be great.
It's about Satoru reliving the same day (time loop) and over the coarse of the story, he's testing the limits of the time loop while also visiting Suguru (this happens after Yuta became a student and before Suguru executed his genocidal plans💀) hoping it will leave a lasting effect through the time loop so he (Suguru) can come back to Jujutsu Tech.
Edit: IT HAS BEEN FOUND!! Thank you @alpha-hydra from the comments, you are much appreciated. I'm gonna go and reread it now:)
Here it is (it is unfinished though).

Ao3: *is down*
Me: welp- time to check tumblr, suffer with everyone there, reread the chapter I was originally reading a billion times, pathetically check my tabs in hopes of one I can read, realise there's no hope, try to convince myself to sleep because it's wayyy past midnight, and promptly fail, then checking tumblr again, mutually suffer on tumblr again, rereading chapters again, checking tabs again—
And the morbid cycle continues.

Tell me why, when I'm reading this *amazing* stsg hunger games AU fic, I go to the next chapter SO READY TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS AND ALL I SEE IS:
Tumblr media
Everytime I see this, my heart sinks so low I think Suguru would be able to find it in hell. (Because let's be honest, that's where he is rn, I love him but I'm also self-aware)
I usually put 'Entire Work' on most fics (especially longer ones) that I read, that way even if ao3 is down I can still read it. But I wanted to read and leave a bunch of comments man😭

If people advertised comics to me like this, I'd be reading so much more.
That being said, I'm totally using this as reading recommendations because I'm practically reacting the same way Jason is, right now.
Okay so I got several notes on my "Things Jason Todd should freak out over that happened while he was dead/in a coma/braindead/gone" post about using it in a timeline EXCEPT I listed those events off the top of my head and didn't actually look up when they happened relative to each other so I know that they weren't in chronological order so I am relisting each of those plus a few new ones in chronological order with issue dates here if anyone actually does want a timeline. If the comment references events that take place some time apart then I listed by whichever happened first. Check the issues listed to figure out when the second event happened. I may edit this post later.

I very much agree with this. While I personally like the WFA route for Jason's trauma, I prefer and find this version to be more within his character. It reflects what he did in UTRH and I think the Lazarus Pit might also be a factor as to why he reacted this way.
Also, I really like the point that was said about that making him like Bruce. Not exactly but the parallels are there. They both shut down a lot of the emotions they feel and deal with it in very (outwardly or inwardly) destructive manners. I think the Jason closer to UTRH would despise that.
Also, yes! Batdad response. Amazing. If only Bruce wasn't so emotionally constipated. But I guess that also ties in with the suppressing and how it parallels Jason in a way.
Standard disclaimer: It is perfectly fine to love Wayne Family Adventures, just like it's fine to enjoy Tiny Titans and Lil Gotham. It's even fine to prefer WFA to the main comics!
But I kinda disagree with some fans labeling WFA's representation of Jason's trauma as "correct" or "accurate" or "proper".
There is no one single "correct" way to represent trauma/PTSD.
Many don't have panic attacks. Many don't have logical or obvious triggers. Some respond in ways that are messy, difficult, isolating, angry, destructive, ugly, frustrating, exhausting, hurtful, cruel—bad.
The Red Hood from the original comics? The Red Hood in the animated movie and and in the Arkham games and in Injustice 2? He responds to his trauma—the violent, permanent loss of all control, after a childhood of being powerless to stop bad things from happening—by trying to forcefully take control over his life, his home, and his parent.
His trauma is not nicely packaged. His trauma didn't make him a sweeter, more lovable person. His trauma prompted him to become ruthless and obsessed with taking control.

Jason's trauma response has been represented. Some versions are less pretty than others.

He says, as he is literally sitting right outside of Bruce's office because Bruce wanted to "talk to you about something serious, Jason." Jason's only reaction to that is to commit a felony, and honestly, I understand.
[on Twitter]
Jason: One like and I’ll rob the nearest CEO.
Jason: *likes his own tweet*
Jason: Say no more.
