HEYA! Have you ever been in a phone call and the person/robot goes like "Your call is very important to us, please hold." and then it plays an absolute banger that has no business slapping this hard. Well. I cannot be sure but it might just have been this song:
Or maybe you prefer the version with a bit more compression?
Not enough compression? Fine.... Have some more!
That's enough from me

Your Call Is Very Important To Us
Amazon paid the National Football League 13 Billion dollars for exclusive broadcasting rights to Thursday Night Football. Yes, that is 13 billion, billion with a B. The deal is for 11 years, so One billion a year. Someone calculated it out to 67 million a game. My first reaction was how can a company be so profitable to be able to shell out so much money? My second reaction was imagining how many trees could be planted with 13 Billion dollars to stave off global warming? Third reaction is why can’t Amazon use some of this money to pay their workers better?
Fourth reaction was how can this make any financial sense? Well, I am no financial wizard and it shows. Amazon had its greatest number of sign ups for prime in its history in the hours prior to the first NFL broadcast. Not only do they get folks to shell out the $139, those folks are likely to order stuff from Amazon more often, and then of course there is the advertisement revenue from the games. Simply, NFL broadcasting is another great revenue stream.
If the NFL equally shares with the teams the money, it is an extra 400 million dollars over the lifetime of the deal per team. Now, I am guessing the teams did not decrease their ticket prices or prices to buy a jersey after this financial bonanza.
The NFL suckered the players during the last labor contract into agreeing to continue the Thursday Night Games and to add an extra game to the season to increase league revenues. The players agreed to this despite despising the Thursday night game and the greater risk of injuries to expanding the season. The Thursday night game is especially dangerous because the players are barely healed from the prior Sunday game. In addition, due to the lack of healing, travel, decease in preparation time, the Thursday night games tend to be of lower quality. Recently, the Miami Dolphins Quarterback had significant head injuries on a Thursday night after not recovering from head injures from the prior Sunday.
The NFL was able to convince the majority of players to go for the deal by sweetening the minimum salaries of the lowest paid players in the league, which is actually the majority of players. Since most of these players will only be in the league for a few years, it made sense for them to agree so they can make as much as possible in their very short careers, despite the greater risk of injury. The NFL says they are all about “player safety”. This has been a sham throughout football history given the obfuscation regarding concussions. Player safety is way down the list of priorities for NFL executives from turning the biggest profit possible.
Corporations should be allowed to make a profit. However, when profit becomes obscene, something is amiss in society. Corporations often give out substantial amounts to charity but given the above scenario, how much more could they really give?
These giant behemoth corporations appear to pay a small handful of executive’s outrageous fortunes. Most of the employees who do the dirty work are not paid so well. The corporations engage in union busting tactics to keep the profits in the hands of the few. Just like the NFL, corporations convince the ones on the bottom to not team up with the union even when safety is an issue. When a warehouse worker is mangled and dies in a machinery mishap, the corporation can easily pay out a few million to the family instead of truly improving safety as it could possibly endanger larger profits. Just a drop in the bucket. Generations of shortened lives of coal workers from black lung.
It is easy for corporations to convince locals to open a new warehouse, big box stores, or other corporate entities. Politicians trip over themselves to get them to come. Often offering them tax incentives, government subsidies and other sweetheart deals to get them to their locality. The local folks are happy to have them, as the promised jobs are better than flipping burgers and delivering pizza. Better, but barely better. No matter the environmental affects or damage to other local businesses, community or way of life.
So instead of using their profits to plant billions of trees to thwart global warming, Amazon is using their profits to make more money from the public, getting them to buy subscriptions as well as likely more products. The NFL is more profitable and does not pass any of their gains onto lower ticket prices or merchandise and guess who is always holding the bag, the common person.
Next time you pick up the phone to call a company and you are on hold and they say, Your Call is Very Important to Us, remember why that is.

just curious cus i heard t increases muscle mass and fat redistribution. I know it doesn't change bone structure but still...
how do you deal with your tmj cus mine is killing me! :L mine is not painful per say but it does feel like I have a knot in my jaw and my ears are clogged all the time (especially in the morning)
So true, tmj pain comes from the muscles so T has gotta be doing something in there 😆
If you're anything like me, this is gonna be sad news, but. You have to wear a night guard. Every night. I know they suck, they're uncomfortable and kinda gross in the morning. But the longer you go without consistently wearing one, the worse the TMJ is gonna get, and some of those changes are gonna be irreversible.
Even if you don't realize it, you 100% are grinding/clenching your teeth at night. That's what's making your ears feel clogged, and it's going to get exponentially worse if you don't get on top of it. I'm talking intense jaw/ear pain, and even the risk of breaking your teeth.
Get some of these moldable mouth guards. Most drugstores will have them and they're generally pretty inexpensive, especially compared to the cost of the dental work you're protecting yourself from needing:
Very very important note about these!!! Do NOT use the ones that just cover your molars!!!! BAD PRODUCT, EVIL BAD, should be illegal to advertise as a TMJ product!!! If you use these, you're only going to be training your jaw muscles to clench down HARDER:
Like, bite your tongue with just your front teeth, and then bite your tongue using your back teeth. Feel how your jaw muscles are so much more activated when you bite using your back teeth? Evil
What my dentist suggested was using one of those moldable mouth guards and cutting it off at the red line, so that it's only covering your front teeth:
Your jaw is going to be much more relaxed, and your molars won't touch each other at all. I also find it fits a bit more comfortably this way, so, hey
Other than that, regularly massaging your jaw is about all I've got in terms of advice 😭 The mouth guard is something that will prevent your TMJ from progressing to something much more serious, and that will help a lot with managing where it is now. Massage, try to relax, etc. If it gets real bad I'd see a doctor about it, they'll give you much more in-depth advice and maybe even prescribe a muscle relaxer.
