My dumbass brain…. I can not read sleep token fic (I still try) but by gosh do I have a magnum opus of a fic I could write for them.
#very much so#so you see I have this story idea I’ve wanted to write as a fic for YEARS I’m talkin at least 6 but I’ve never had the right fandom for it#and it’s this idea where the gods have this like not school but castle where their followers can gather and they can learn more magic thee#and worship their gods and also just be close to each other and the gods come and go and have like apartments there basically#and the gods have assistants. and the og idea (I’m gonna change it around a bit) is that the god if death her assistant/head follow is the#reincarnated soul mate of the god of life/the sun. but the sun god doesn’t want his souls mate because his soul mates first life ended#because of him.#now obviously I’d change it around a bit and sun god would be sleep and maybe Vessel would still be sleeps ‘head follower’ and Vesse is#still keeping the fact that he’s sleeps soul mate a secret (cause that’s part of it it’s all hush hush on the mc’s end of things)#but it’s almost… to perfect… so I might. have to write it…..#and ofc the other vessels get included now#for one thing in the og story part of mc’s powers are sex related and he had many many partners#so I have to include that any way but like it’s all fitting A Bit Too Well#sleep token#for blacklist#it’s so low in the list of tags it hopefully won’t show up in the main tag but if it does I’m So Sorry be lol#i uhh. don’t know when l write this tbh#I want to but I also wanna finish writing my giant af Dune fic#and I have a couple others I wanna work on too so we’ll see#this got rambly af sorry to ANYONE who reads this lmao#also I didn’t even tap into the plot lol#so many misspelled things cause it’s 12:23 and I tired af

I use Clip Studio Paint, and most of my art is done with a simple round brush with pen pressure only on the opacity. The rest is done with a variety of random texture or pattern brushes and blending tools.

You're braver than me for mentioning Khoa and Joker parallel in this hellsite that very much hate Joker lol. Im holding myself back from pointing out the same thing everytime i read Khoa story in fear someone gonna attack me. But anyway what do you think are the differences between their relationship (ghostbat & batjokes) since they're quite similar with each other. Cause tbh with you the way many describe ghostbat here feel just like they're describing batjokes instead
Ngl, this is one of the things that both depresses me and pisses me off about the current state of fandom. It sucks to hear you're too afraid of getting attacked over expressing a personal opinion on a literal blogging platform, built for this express purpose... regarding fictional characters and within a fandom, which is supposed to be fun. The block button and the filtering options exist for a reason though; I tag my stuff accurately so that people can blacklist, and I don't mind if people block me (I'm quite liberal with it myself). It's just part of curating your little niche, so I definitely encourage doing the same, Anon. Besides, despite the hellsite having its downsides, I've interacted with very reasonable and fun people as well, who dislike Joker or Batjokes but are fully capable of treating others with maturity and respect.
That being said, I agree that Batjokes and Ghostbat share a lot of similarities. I guess that for some it affords the fascinations of this type of dynamic for Bruce without the baggage Joker's character would unavoidably bring (both within Universe, and within fandom). However, there's definitely some essential differences between Ghostbat and Batjokes. Perhaps the most important consequence of them is that unlike Batjokes, Ghostbat has significantly higher chances of not ending in tragedy.
The thing about Joker is that, despite how seemingly desperate for attention and in love with Batman he canonically is, he also... hates Bruce's guts. And I'm making the distinction between 'Batman' and 'Bruce' because Joker himself makes it. Joker needs Batman on a fundamental level. He perceives his own current identity as having been shaped and defined by Batman, and he sees Bruce, the person underneath the mask, as the source of potential weakness and a threat to the Bat's existence. That's because Joker thinks of his own humanity as useless and weak, having decided to discard it and stomp it out. He then proceeds to try and do the same with Bruce's. This has literally been their main conflict since Death of the Family onwards.
Khoa also takes issue with Bruce being driven by emotion. He also considers it a weakness-- Bruce's need to save people, his vigilantism having revenge at its roots instead of a desire to perfect an art. However, Ghostmaker wasn't a direct result of Bruce's actions (accidental or not), like Joker is. Khoa's identity is much more stable and independent, not irrevocably intertwined with Bruce's Batman to the pathological degree Joker's is; and as a result, he's less extreme about it. Khoa can allow for disagreement without resorting to destroying Bruce's life, whereas Joker (at least of now) cannot allow any compromises, any pause from conflict-- because he needs it. Khoa, however, is able to stop and make peace. He challenges Bruce and his need for control just enough, right up to the point of fully enabling Bruce's darkness and self-destructiveness. Joker never stops. He keeps escalating the trauma, the horrors; a pit of knives Bruce keeps throwing himself into.
In a way, shipping Ghostbat is indulging in a dynamic similar to Batjokes, but one that can have a happier ending. Bruce can be a person with Khoa, whereas Joker would tear vulnerability to shreds. The parallels between Joker War and Ghostmaker's introduction arc are so interesting to me also because they showcase this from the start. The final confrontation with Joker, in Batman (2016) #100, has Joker stab Bruce in the back and then almost cut his face off, talking about how he'd then have "to start from scratch." Joker is tearing everything down to have Bruce rebuild it-- alone. The final confrontation with Khoa also includes him telling Bruce he's not enough, he's weak, he needs to become stronger; it also includes being stabbed in the back, but while in a fair fight that has rules. And then Bruce wakes up to Khoa sowing up the wounds he himself inflicted.
That's the crucial difference between the ships, I would say. Despite their disagreements, Bruce and Khoa are on the same side, and Bruce can expect to survive showing weakness to Khoa. Joker is, paradoxically, on the side of Batman alone and also against Bruce. That's not to say it couldn't be different, and that a happier ending is impossible to imagine for them too-- but it's a lot more complicated. Personally, I enjoy Batjokes so much because of how difficult a relationship would be. It inevitably has to involve Joker allowing himself to be human (since otherwise he would not allow Batman to be) and that's such a heavy and complex deconstruction of trauma that's fascinating to delve into.
Hope this was interesting to read through! There's a lot more stuff to say about the differences between Khoa and Joker as characters and their brand of psychopathy, and how that impacts the dynamic with Bruce, but I'm waiting for Batman Inc. and their interaction there to see where DC takes it. (Please let it be good.)

1. the character everyone gets wrong
Cytherea Lockedtomb almost always feels too gleefully and straightforwardly villainous in the fic that I've read and not sad and weird enough for me. She can't help being sad and weird even while she's fucking with people!
3. screenshot or description of the worst take you've seen on tumblr
It's a toss-up between "people don't like Mark Frost's beauty salon-owning Audrey Horne material because they want Audrey to be a capitalist girlboss, i.e. an FBI agent" and "Audrey is 16 because it says so on a trading card which also says she was the president of the school French society." Neither of those things are true, Samantha, and you know it.
13. worst blorboficiation
I'll say Dale Cooper, because I feel like a lot of fandom appreciation for him seems to turn him into an avatar for gender or neurodiversity in a way that just... really flattens him. I don't disagree with reading him as neurodivergent, per se, but I also feel like a lot of takes about this approach it from an angle of "Cooper is an autistic icon and this can be used to explain away everything ~weird about him," when actually being neurodivergent is quite possibly one of the most "normal" things about him, and underneath that he's also weird in ways that no other human being has ever conceived. Plus I am so irrationally annoyed by that "is Dale Cooper the most positive masculine role model ever?!?!" article that keeps getting posted in the main Twin Peaks tag that I think I have it blacklisted now, lol.
25. common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing
"Laura Palmer is an example of a fridged female character" and semi-relatedly "any representation of Laura Palmer's dead body is disrespectful to her as a character." One thing that I find especially fascinating about Laura is how she makes you think about death as a part of her, something that she is present within, and not a negation of her subjectivity or her role in the story. I just don't think any framework that takes it as a given that death = a way to minimize or undermine her power as a character really addresses her case specifically.

sure, we definitely do! editing is a lot of fun to first get into, so let's get started.
this got pretty long, so i'll put it under a cut!
Tips On Starting An Edit Blog + Improving Your Editing
tips for starting an edit blog -
you should start out thinking about what you want to offer. you don't have to offer every kind of edit from the start - you can start out with only a couple and then build up (or not!).
one of the first things you should do is create example edits. this'll show people your skills and encourage them to request. post a couple of these before you do a promo, and keep a few in a queue to post later.
one of the first example edits should be your layout! but you also should think about that.
do you want to use reply icons? do you want to have a dni image you add to posts? do you want no header? it's all up to you! you don't even have to make your own layout if you don't want to.
you should also work on your main post before you go onto the next steps! some people use carrd or rentry for all their information, but i'd suggest keeping it to your pinned post at the start.
what to include in this - what edits you can do, what fandoms you edit for, whether your requests are open or closed, your whitelist + blacklist, and your dni + rules.
promo's are highly encouraged in this community! a lot of editors are happy to boost smaller blogs and it's the best way to gain your first few followers.
some blogs don't allow promo's, but many do, so don't worry about tagging a bunch of editors! always specify in the post that people can message you to have their @ removed. It's just politeness, i guess? also, say please and thank you, and include a bit about yourself and what you do on your blog.
other than that, a lot of running an edit blog is complete luck! sometimes tumblr will show your blog to a lot of people, sometimes it won't.
your best bet for keeping up getting requests etc, is to post regularly, even when you don't have requests. self indulgent edits, gifts, etc, are a great way to remind your followers that they follow you and can request, and can also bring more people to your blog.
otherwise, just have fun with it! you don't have to be a perfect editor from the start, nobody is (we still cringe thinking about our early edits), so don't worry about that for now. just have fun making and posting edits and requests and notes will come your way.
tips for improving your edits -
follow tutorials! we have tutorials of course, but there are others around too!
ask your favourite editors for advice! a lot of nice editors are happy to give you a bit of advice if you shoot them an ask. ask them how they do specific things, or even how they feel about their own edits.
practice! i know, this is kind of obvious, but it really is just trial and error. you get better at editing the more you do it.
experiment! try to recreate cool edits you see, try new styles, try not to get too comfortable. it's easy to stagnate at editing, and though that can fine, it's a lot more fun if you try new things every now and again!
otherwise, honestly? it really does just come with practice and effort. you can follow all the tips and tutorials in the world and you still might not be happy with your edits. but that is okay. it's a common feeling across the community, and we all understand.

1 Year Blog Anniversary

It’s surreal how it’s been a year! Thank you to all 163 of you for taking a look at my small art corner on here and leaving a follow, along with all the positive and substantial feedback for miscellaneous creations I make too ❤️ It makes me happy to see that I can inspire some emotion and make someone’s day through my works or surprises that I sometimes do on a whim, as I take pride and genuine time in everything I make, since most of what I create here is from scratch and from the heart, whether it be art, writing, graphics, ideation, etc. As some may notice, I’m not as active as I used to be last August-March due to work and other reasons, but it was an experience being on the content-creating & active side of things, after years of only using this platform as a passive viewer for hobbies and fandoms ☺️ Once again, I can’t believe I made it this long and I am grateful for your support! 🌹

Before you follow and engage with me and my content on here, here's things you should both be aware of.
This blog is an SFW blog however I do warn people that topic matters and games discussed on this blog may not always be intended for minors. I'll, of course, be tagging any protenially triggering material but it is important to keep in mind.
Secondly, I think it should go without saying that respect is a huge thing for me. Regardless of race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or gender identity I believe there should be a baseline level of respect that should be shown to others, to expand on that I'm very much opposed to the general concept of "cringe culture" and the harassment it can often lead to, if you can't respect any of this, I'd advise you leave, you will not be welcome here.
While this blog may cover some fandom discourse topics. I will probably not be dipping my toes into any ship related discussion, positive and negative. This in part due to me not really enjoying shipping too much but I also feel like the discourse like the whole pro-ship & anti discourse is something I waste for energy. The unfortunate reality of the internet is that there will inevitably be content created that makes you feel uncomfortable. I have my own list of content I do not wish to engage wish however, in situations like theses, I personally approach it with a block and blacklist approach. That being said I have nothing against those who wish to ship things in general as long as said ships are not actively harmful.

I'm also ship and let ship, but I know that gets people uncomfortable a lot so I've been worried about directly interacting too much/worried you'd be uncomfy if I did. That's why I asked ^-^
We're cool. I know I came off a little harsh, but I didn't want to pussyfoot around the subject. It's not a subject I'm interested in debating.
I'm also very comfortable blocking. And I've probably blocked more blogs for posting personally annoying but ultimately harmless takes in the main fandom tags (just tired of seeing "this is why the ending of Duel Monsters sucks and I need to make a dozen posts in a row about it" part 1000) than I have blocked people for shipping whatever ship. Ships I'm not interested in are blacklisted and I scroll right on past.
The upside of anon is I honestly don't have the first clue who you might be. I can barely distinguish how many individual anons come into my ask box. There might be two of you, or a dozen. Who knows. Cuz I don't lol.
That's why I also keep the anon option open as long as it's not abused. If you feel more comfortable coming to me anon, I won't turn you away for that.

Honestly, the topic of shipping in this Black Panther fandom has gotten so utterly violent that I'm afraid to even mention other ships, for fear of angering the self-appointed fandom captains.
Like, how Martin Freeman and Danai Gurira casually shipped Okoye and Ross on that one British talk show, which was a fun-sounding unexplored ship to me, but like... am I allowed to say that? If I say it, does that mean I am committing to a lifetime contract of DEEPLY shipping this ship even though I only think it might make a good AU for a fic? Even though I don't care that much, I just think it was cute that these two actors said so? Is it gonna be problematic? Am I supposed to ship anyone else, specifically, with Okoye?
Or how about Ayo and Aneka? Like... I would rather be writing about them than Shuri and Riri, because they're a canon, established Black lesbian couple. But are we supposed to only be focusing on the idea of Shuri and Riri? I like Shuri and Riri, but do I have to want them to be canon?
Is all of this just me covering for my deep, unending love of Shuri x Namor? Am I so deeply into that even I don't know that I'm lying about not caring that much?
Also, like... I have people coming to me because they feel so attacked. And like, every time I go into the tag (you gotta look at new posts, because top posts is just all the posts you've already seen), it's just the same person over and over again telling everyone how much this one group of shippers hates Shuri and "doesn't care about her trauma" (meanwhile, this person cares more about a fictional character than the real, living Black women they're attacking.) And it's like... there's a reason tumblr fandoms created anti tags. So that people who hate stuff can go into the anti tag, and people who like stuff can go into the main tag for the thing. Or at least blacklist each other. Even the most controversial or combative ships, people respect that (with like Reylo and Stucky and Steggy and whatever else causes fanwars a lot). Like, what are you getting out of spending DAYS (and literally only days because the movie just dropped!) just utterly trashing strangers because they don't agree with you.

Tbh pretty much every fandom I've been in hyper fixates on one or two characters. Stiles from teen wolf. Obi-wan from star wars. Tony or Steve from mcu.
Usually male, usually white.
But whatever. I mean, fandom is about enjoying content you like, so enjoy it and don't let me interfere.
I just wish AO3 had ways to distinguish the "main characters" of the fic easily. I could blacklist whatever popular fandom character from the search results, but what if they are tagged as a side character? Some authors do a <person>-centric tag but that's fallible and not everyone uses it (also, sometimes pov etc is split)
Personal rant here, but I really want to read fic about Boba set in the book of boba Fett series. But even if I remove the Mandalorian from the fandom tags, a ton of stories are focused on Mando, Cobb Vanth, and boba isn't even in them!!! It's his show!! /rant over
I know you say you are too busy to really be able to rec fics , but when you do read fics, do you have a method for filtering out those focused on the popular fandom character?
Tbh my main method is to look for rare pairs, which I think is one of the things that really started my tendency towards them - they're generally niche enough that authors aren't writing about the fandom faves in more than passing, and I can deal with that. Or I'll go for tags like "BAMF Character X", though that's more hit and miss - like, for the BAMF Bail and BAMF Cody tags, pretty much every fic is focused around Obi-Wan, but. I live in hope that that will change over time.
