Okay but I jsut... I just!! FF literally acknowledges that the reason why he loves black Friday is that everyone is exactly as hostile and unhinged as his brain says they are - meaning he recognizes that most of the time, people aren't what his anxiety insists.

But he won't apply that to Andrew - even tho a PART of him almost seems to see it [insert that meme with the buttons with Andrew tucking him in and telling him he won't be killed in his sleep]

Because it's 10x more frightening to acknowledge that rather than neutrality, it's the opposite of hostility that's happening here. Like he can understand neutrality - apathy is a huge step up from hostility and like.. it makes sense for people not to care about him (to him). But someone LIKING him? Wanting to be FRIENDS!? let alone someone like Andrew and Captain Neil (also I can do a whole nother post about FF always using Neil's title but I will restrain myself I promise I'm normal about this)!?

It's SCARIER, right? Because having people who like and care about you is a power dynamic he isn't familiar with. It gives those people new weapons against him - and even worse, gives HIM weapons against THEM.
