My first thought in regard to every band that gets played on my radio station
ACDC: Every dad’s favourite band
Adams, Bryan: Every mom’s favourite singer until Michael Buble came along
Aerosmith: haha they thought Vince Neil was a lady
Alice Cooper: he’s a Game Of Thrones fanboy and I have proof
Alice In Chains: my sister doesn’t like them because she decided AC were Alice Cooper’s initials ONLY
Allman Brothers Band: good music for dropping acid to
Allman, Gregg: That’s too many Gs for one name
Animals: House Of The Rising Sun, or who even cares
Argent: Sometimes Hold Your Head Up is really catchy
Asia: Tuesdays
Autograph: one of the members went on to be a pharmacist
Bachman-Turner Overdrive: There are just so many pop culture jokes about Taking Care Of Business that whatever I say won’t be as funny
Bad Company: with their song; Bad Company, off their album; Bad Company
Benatar, Pat: Always getting her confused with Patti Smith
Black Crowes: I like them for Lickin, but it doesn’t seem to exist outside of one shoddy video on youtube and my old CD
Blackfoot: this band name feels kind of racy
Black Sabbath: Dio was not better or worse than Ozzy; just different
Blondie: I like Call Me, but Blondie confuses me stylistically
Blue Oyster Cult: MORE COWBELL
Bon Jovi: Hello, childhood trauma, I missed you
Boston: ONE GUY. ONE GUY DID IT ALL AND NO ONE KNOWS
Bowie, David: Don’t let your children watch The Man Who Fell To Earth, or David Bowie’s will end up being the third penis they see in life
Browne, Jackson: Another musician ruined by Supernatural
Buffalo Springfield: Jack Nicholson was at the riot they sing about
Burdon, Eric: no ideas, brain empty
Bush: ditto
Candlebox: ditto once more. Who are these people?
Cars: This band feels so gay and so straight at the same time, I can only assume they’re the poster children of bisexual panic
Cheap Trick: I played Dream Police on Guitar Hero so fucking much because it was the only song anyone who played with me could keep up with
Chicago: Chicago 30 exists, but they do not have 30 albums. Fucking riddle me that
Clapton, Eric: 6 discs in one Greatest Hits is too many. That’s called “re releasing your discography”
Cochrane, Tom: For some reason, everyone thinks Rascal Flats did it better
Cocker, Joe: Belushi did it right
Collective Soul: who?
Collins, Phil: If his biggest hits were done by MCR, they would be emo anthems, but because he’s 5′6″ and from the 80s, they’re not
Cream: *Vietnam flashbacks on the hippie side*
CCR: *Vietnam flashbacks on the war side*
CSNY: David Crosby; meh
Deep Purple: THEY’RE SO MUCH MORE THAN SMOKE ON THE WATER
Def Leppard: the only music for when you’re a heartbroken bitch but also a sexy one
Derek And The Dominos: Clapton and ‘Layla’ broke up
Derringer, Rick: Tom Petty if he was from the midwest
Dio: You thought it was an anime reference, but it was me, Dio
Dire Straits: You can tell how bigoted a radio station is based on how much of Money For Nothing they censor
Doobie Brothers: I have yet to smoke weed, but I listen to the Doobies, and I think that’s pretty close
Dylan, Bob: I take back everything I said about him in my youth
Eagles: Hotel California isn’t their best song, but the memes that come from it are second to none
Edgar Winter Group: @the--blackdahlia
Electric Light Orchestra: Actually an orchestra and sound a fuckton like George Harrison
ELO: I really hesitate to ask what happens with the 7 virgins and a mule
Essex, David: no prominent memories of him
Fabulous Thunderbirds: cannot spell
Faces: Who on earth thought that was a good album name?
Faith No More: I got nothing
Fixx: One Thing Leads To Another is a damn bop
Fleetwood Mac: I ain’t straight, but I’m simply not enough of a witch to enjoy them to full potential
Fogerty, John: He got sued cause he sounded like himself
Foghat: Slow Ride slowly becoming less coherent feels like a drug trip
Foo Fighters: He was just excited to buy a grill
Ford, Lita: deserved better
Foreigner: dramatically overplayed
Frampton, Peter: a masterful user of the talk box
Free: dramatically underplayed
Gabriel, Peter: leaving Genesis changed him a lot
Genesis: if someone likes Genesis, clarify the era, because yes, it does matter
Georgia Satellites: sing like you have a cactus in your ass
Golden Earring: Twilight Zone slaps, but it doesn’t slap as hard as this station thinks it does
Grand Funk Railroad: Funk
Grateful Dead: I like their aesthetic more than their music
Great White: there are so many fucking shark jokes
Greenbaum, Norman: makes me think of Subway for some reason
Green Day: the first of the emo revolution
Greg Kihn Band: RocKihnRoll is literally the most clever album name I’ve ever seen
Guns N Roses: They have more than three good songs, but radio stations never recognize that
Hagar, Sammy: I’m still trying to figure out where he lived to take 16 hours to get to LA driving 55 and how fucking fast was he driving beforehand?
Harrison, George: He went from religious to rock, and if he had continued rocking, he would have gotten too cool
Head East: I respect people who use breakfast foods as album names
Heart: Magic Man and Barracuda are played at least once every goddamn day. They’re not even the best songs!
Hendrix, Jimi: I have both a cousin and a sibling named after Hendrix references
Henley, Don: Dirty Laundry gives me too much inspiration
Hollies: Somehow sound like they’re both from the 60s and the 80s at the same time
Idol, Billy: he’s doing well for himself
INXS: Terminator vibes
Iris, Donnie: knockoff Roy Orbison
James Gang: too many funks

John Cafferty And The Beaver Brown Band: literally wtf is that name

Scandal: There’s something really funny about The Warrior being my brother’s “song” with his girlfriend

Simple Minds: we ALL forgot about you
Skid Row: Sebastian Bach is prettier than all of us
Soundgarden: music that makes you feel like you dunked your head underwater
Springsteen, Bruce: my arch-nemesis. Maybe someday, he’ll find out about it
Squeeze: according to my friends, the stupidest band name ever, but they’re theatre kids, so you know
Squier, Billy: If he can make it through 1984 alive, you can make it through whatever bad day you’re having
Stealers Wheel: Yet another band who I always mistake for George Harrison
Steely Dan: my house’s nickname for the Robber in Settlers Of Catan
Steppenwolf: Either makes me think of Jay & Silent Bob, Jack Nicholson, or that time I had to cut 6lbs of onions
Steve Miller Band: when you’re in the right mood, they slap hard
Stewart, Rod: my soundtrack to summer 2015
Stills, Stephen: Love The One You’re With Is Catchy, but the lyrics are questionable
Stone Temple Pilots: the only band to write a song about goo you smear on yourself
Stray Cats: an obscene amount of merch is available for them
Styx: Supernatural would have ruined them for me too if I hadn’t been into them previously.
Supertramp: I hunted for Breakfast In America for two years and it was worth every hunt
Sweet: I will never understand my two-month obsession with Ballroom Blitz when I was 15, but it was legit all I listened to
Talking Heads: you may find yourself in a pizza hut. And you may find yourself in a taco bell. And you may find yourself at the combination pizza hut and taco bell. And you may ask yourself; ‘how did I get here?’
Temple Of The Dog: I keep confusing them for Nazareth
Ten Years After: somehow still relevant
Tesla: not the car or the dude
The Beatles: Evokes a lot of opinions from people. Mine is that I love them
The Clash: I showed my sister the ‘Lock The Taskbar’ vine ONCE and it still kills her
The Doors: evokes teenage terror from deep within my soul
The Guess Who: Canada’s answer to confusing question-themed band names
The Kinks: kinky
The Police: wrote the theme of 2020 and everyone somehow forgot it was about a teacher resisting becoming a pedophile
The Ramones: playing all of their songs in a row wouldn’t take more than 2 hours
The Romantics: you don’t think you know them, but if you’ve seen Shrek 2, you have

one more dance
request: todoroki fluff where y/n tries to kiss him at a masquerade ball
a/n: i don’t really like this one, but i hope you do!
warnings: none
masterlist
Tumblr media
This was the day you had been waiting for! The UA masquerade! Momo had helped you make a dress and Uraraka helped you decorate your mask. The day of the masquerade all the girls got into Mina’s room, after their classes, to do their make up. It felt like when you were 10 all over again, borrowing your mom’s make up and playing around with your friends during a sleepover.
“Who are you going for tonight then, Y/N?”, Mina asked mischeviously.
“Todorok-”
“Shut it!”, you hushed Jirou and she grinned at you.
“But I’m right.”, Jirou said and stuck out her tounge at you, “The only person who doesn’t get that you have a crush on Todoroki is Todoroki himself!”
“I don’t have a crush on him!”, you lied. Everyone gave you a look, saying “you’re fucking lying and you know it”, that made you give in.
“Fine, I might have a tiny crush on him... but I’m not gonna force that on him!”, you sighed as you tried your best to fix your eyeliner, “Besides, he doesn’t even like me.” Everybody in the room groaned.
“Are you kidding me, Y/N?”, Toru broke the quiet.
“That’s just because you don’t see it when he looks at you.”, Tsu added. The girls started talking about all the times he’s looked at you and you simply tried to drown it out.
You hated forcing feelings on people and this wasn’t any different. Just because he happened to look at you once or twice didn’t mean he liked you! And yeah, maybe he talked to you more than anyone else but you sat next to each other in class! It’s obvious that he’d talk a lot to you since you spend most of the time sitting next to each other every weekday!
Finally you were in your dress and your shoes were on. You were ready for this fantastic night! Your dress was a light dusty pink color and lots of layers, with cringly symbols over your chest. Your mask had the same kind of symbols and a silver color.
As you walked away from your room you met up with the rest of the girls.
“Y/N! You look like a greek goddess!”, Mina hyped you up.
“Is everyone here now?”, Momo asked. Everyone said yes and the group started walking.
The masquerade was in a big antique looking building, with greek pillars and big glass chandeliers. You looked around, your eyes trying to find a special someone even if your brain tried to deny it.
He wasn’t hard to spot, his red and white hair stuck out amoung everyone else and his heterochromic eyes found yours aswell... but there wasn’t any recognition, at least you couldn’t tell.
“Hey... I’m gonna leave...”, you said to Uraraka and she gave you a smile and a thumbs up.
The song “Woman” by Harry Styles started playing as you approached Todoroki. His hair was parted to the side, a silver mask adorned his face and he had a white suit with blue detailing on it. When you were just a few feet apart he held out his hand for you to take it, which you did.
“Would you like to dance?”, he asked, a small smile gracing his lips. Did he recognize you? No... his eyes were so indifferent.
“Of course.”, you said calmly, well as calm as you could. He led you out on the dancefloor, not breaking eyecontact. You felt so safe in his gaze and with his hand on your hip. His hand was surprisingly soft which made you smile a bit to yourself.
“I’m amusing you?”, he chuckled.
“It’s just that...”, you looked up at him with a cheeky smile, “I didn’t think such a strong guy could have such soft hands.”
“And is that a bad thing?”, you had never seen him smile so much, was he really that amused by your comment?
“Not at all. It’s a nice surprise.”, you said as he spun you around and brought you back in. As you slowly swayed to the beat you let your eyes wander, from your hand on his shoulder, up to his sharp jawline, lingering on his lips and then finally meeting his eyes again. God, he was beautiful.
“You look really lovely in that dress.”, he said all of the sudden, making you come back to reality.
“Oh, thank you.”, your glad you had a mask that could cover up your red face, “You look really handsome.”
“Thanks.”, he chuckled.
The song ended and you made yourself ready to leave... but he grabbed your wrist.
“One more dance?”, he asked carefully.
“She loves you” by The Beatles started playing and now you simply couldn’t say no.
“Bring it on.”, you grinned and got back on the dancefloor with him. He was good at dancing a normal slow dance, this was so much different. He was almost like a professional!
“Wow, you’re really good at this!”, you laughed as he spun you around.
“My dad made me take lessons.”, he said as he brought you in again.
“Well, they payed off.”, you smiled. You didn’t know much about Todoroki’s dad, just that he didn’t like him that much so you decided to not pry.
Once the song ended you thanked each other for the dances but before you could part he stopped you once again.
“Promise me a dance for later tonight?”, he asked sweetly, and how can you say no to that?
“I’ll be counting on it.”, you nodded and walked into the crowd.
You find your friends quickly, well at least some of them. Mina was out dancing, so was Tsu and Toru. So while you danced around with Jirou, Uraraka danced with Momo. The four of you switched around partners during the night and they all teased you for dancing with Todoroki.
You managed to get a dance with Tsu and Mina aswell, but couldn’t find Toru anywhere. While you were looking you ran into Todoroki.
“Sorry, sorry!”, you exclaimed.
“It’s alright, I-”, he looked you up and down, “You’re the girl I danced with before, right?”
“Uh... yeah.”, you smiled. You looked around and saw Mina basically bulting towards you, ready to embarrass you in front of your crush.
“Can I take up on that dance offer now?”, you smiled awkwardly. He barely had any time to answer, when you dragged him onto the dancefloor and succesfully losing Mina in the crowd. “Put your head on my shoulder” by Paul Anka started playing.
“Sorry about that.”, you breathed out of relief, “I just had to get away from... someone.”
“Are you okay? Were they trying to hurt you?”, he asked with worry in his eyes. You hadn’t even noticed that the two of you had started dancing until now, he made you forget everything else so that your brain could just focus on him.
“No, they’re just annoying...”, you chuckled as you could almost hear Mina yelling at you for that comment.
“Oh, okay.”, he nodded, “But... I’m glad I found you.” He was?
“You are?”, you smiled genuinely.
“Yeah, I was actually trying to find you. I wanted to have the last dance with you.”, he smiled back, just enough for you to notice.
“The last dance? Is it already that late?”, you thought out loud.
“Not really, I was just... making sure I found you in time.”, he said as a slight tinge of pink dusted the part of his cheeks you could actually see.
You glanced down at his lips and then back to his eyes... and as Paul Anka’s annoyingly beautiful voice started to fade out, you leaned on your toes and kissed him. Todoroki placed one of his hands on the back of your head, accidentally making the ribbon to your mask come undone. You pulled away in shock and your mask fell to the floor as soon as you stepped away.
“I-”, you stammered, “I have to go!”
You ran away from him, up the stairs, just trying to get as far from the dancefloor as you could. You found a balcony and walked out on it. Right now you didn’t care about the cold, you just wanted to hide. Why would you kiss him? You had ruined everything!
The steps running down the hall made you hold your breath. But it didn’t help, they stopped by the balcony right behind you.
“There you are.”, Todoroki sighed a sigh of... relief?
You didn’t turn around to look at him, you were too embarrassed.
“What are you doing here?”, you said and tried your best to keep your voice steady.
“If you don’t remember, you kind of left me hanging on the dance floor.”, he chuckled. You were about to ask him to leave you alone and that you didn’t need his pity when you felt a warm fabric wrap around your shoulders. Todoroki had put his jacket over your shoulders.
“You’ll catch a cold if you’re out here without a jacket.”, he said calmly and stood beside you, so that his left side was against you and warmed you up.
“Thanks...”, you muttered.
“I’m sorry about taking your mask off.”, he said.
“No, no... I shouldn’t have kissed you.”, you declined his apology.
“Why not?”, his question gave you a little bit of hope.
“Well... I should’ve asked you or something. I shouldn’t just force-” Todoroki grabbed your chin with his thumb and pointer finger, turned your face to his and kissed you.
“Now we’re even.”, he muttered against your lips.
“Todoroki, wh-”
“Shouto.”, he interupted you.
“What?”
“Call me Shouto. We’ve kissed, I think that means you can call me by my first name.”, he smiled and backed away from you.
“Alright... Shouto...”, you tried out how the name felt in your mouth, “Then you can call me Y/N?”
“Y/N... okay.”, he nodded.
“Listen, I really like you. So if this doesn’t mean anything to you then-”
“You’re acting like I didn’t just kiss you.”, he chuckled, “I like you too, Y/N.” The way he said your name made your head spin.
“You’re kidding...”, you couldn’t believe it, “Mina and the other’s set you up to this.”
“Do you need me to prove it to you?”, he raised and eyebrow. You nodded and watched as he got closer to you again. His hands pulled you in by your waist and then brought one of his hands up to carress your cheek. His thumb gently stroke over your cheek bone before he leaned in and kissed you. Your hands, as if on autopilot, made their way up his chest and locked together behind his neck. Once he pulled away he rested his forehead against yours, the action reminding you to open your eyes.
“Is that enough proof for you?”, he asked softly.
“You might have to kiss me again so that I can really believe you.”, you chuckled, surprised at you own confidence. He pressed a peck to your lips and then let go of you, your body burned where his hands had once been.
“If you want to, I’m free this Saturday?”, he asked.
“Are you asking me out on a date?”, you tried to contain your smile.
“... yes. Is that okay?”, he asked.
“Of course it is.”, you smiled, “Saturday works for me.”
“Great I’ll see you then.”, he smiled back and started walking, “... and you can keep the jacket.”, he said before he walked away. You never thought that he could be so outgoing...
When you got back to your friends they could see the bliss on your face... and also Shouto’s jacket around your shoulders.
“Oh my GOD! Y/N!”, Mina ran up to you, “Please say that this is Todoroki’s!”, she felt the material of the jacket.
“It is.”, you smiled happily.
“Wait...”, Mina looked closer at you, “You kissed him, didn’t you?”
“You did what?!”, Toru and Uraraka exclaimed.
“So what if I did?”, you grinned.
The girls kept bugging you about it until you eventually admitted that you did indeed kiss him. To say the least, they freaked out.

[ My Jonas Brothers : Chasing Happiness Experience ]
introduction: if you know me, you know how much if a Jonas Brothers fan i am. yes, the first band i ever REALLY got into was The Beatles. but the Jonas Brothers was a boyband i really did fall in love with. we all had that one band from our childhood that switched everything up. mine were the Jonas Brothers. the way the directioners loved One Direction was my love for the Jonas Brothers. when i say “the boys,” i mean Nick, Kevin, and Joe. they’re my “the boys.” if that makes sense.
history:  i remember the day i got into them. i was 10 years old and it was during the summertime. i had just finished watching ‘taking 5.’ a movie about the click five. the girls in the movie had posters and cut outs of the click five on their wall from posters and magazines. at that age, i was already collecting TigerBeat, Popstar!, J-14 magazines. i was too plugged in to the pop culture and the teeny bopper life. my dad was supportive. i was somewhat, inspired, when i watched that movie and checked out my magazines. i found the jonas brothers. i knew OF them and the song SOS and When You Look Me In The Eyes but nothing else. i had a personal computer in my room back then and newly plugged in internet connection. it started with music videos, and then the stupid videos they had on their yt channel, and i just couldn’t stop watching their videos. i watched all their live chats and interviews. i fell in love LIKE THAT. it was the first i ever obsessed about a boyband like this. a boyband in MY LEAGUE, you know what i mean? i obsessed over hannah montana and lizzie mcguire. but it wasn’t LIKE THIS. i grabbed my magazines and starting taping the Jonas posters on the walls. my routine was to watch all their videos everyday. i even went as far as reading fanfiction on youtube. YES. fanfiction USED to be on YOUTUBE. and that’s when crushes began. my bias was joe, at first, of course. then i slowly crept onto liking nick more. until he was my ACTUAL favorite. nick was my first love, i’m claiming it. the boy had me feeling ALL SORTS OF THINGS. the boy had me WRITING AT 11.
influence: they were a huge influence on me. other than taylor swift and my dad getting me to pick up a guitar and learning how to play it, the Jonas Brothers wanted me to fulfill the dream. their influence on me was HUGE. it was so big that they were my first fashion icons. i broke gender stereotypes (at least in my circle) at the age of 11, you guys. i wore skinny jeans, converse, collared shirts and neckties all the time. they had me wearing denim and corduroy and my parents were so into me being into fashion at that age cause they were all about that in their youth. i mastered dressing like a guy at the age of 11. it just became a thing growing up. cause that’s where i’m most comfortable. i remember when the JONAS show came out on disney channel and the first episode was of nick having a love interest, i cried.
other facts:
i collected all kinds of jonas brothers paraphernelia as a child.
other than the magazines, i had merch. i remember begging my mom to get me jonas brothers merch from their actual website. when she finally gave in, i was ecstatic.
i had a jonas brothers t shirt and a necklace (it was a guitar pick with their logo on it)
i also had a jonas brothers mp3 player that i bought when i was in tampa.
i’ve been to their first concert in the philippines. I REMEMBER HOW I TOLD MY PARENTS. i ran to them and said “THE JONAS BROTHERS ARE COMING HERE” and i didn’t even have to ask cause they already knew.
my bedroom walls were FILLED with their posters. i had over 150 posters on my walls.
i cut out their photos from magazines and covered my notebooks and pens with them. i sold a couple at school, too.
you caNT BELIEVE HOW MUCH I FREAKED OUT WHEN I FOUND OUT ABOUT CAMP ROCK. when it came out in the states, my dad bought a copy of the dvd and i was SO SO SO EXCITED. that’s why i love home made spaghetti so much because it was the meal i was eating when i watched camp rock in my old bedroom for the first time. i squealed half the time.
them being christian played such a big part in my life because my mom was a strict-ass hardcore christian. and since they wore purity rings, my mom got me a purity ring, too. at 11. which now, seems rather stupid. for me, at least.
nick jonas & the administration is still one of my favorite albums. HE REALLY DO BE MAKIN ME FEEL SOME TYPE OF WAY. for real though.
i really watched Married To Jonas, Kevin and Danielle’s reality show. it was NOT great but i watched it.
i even watched some of nick’s movies and i didn’t like any of them really but i enJOYED NICK’S SCREEN TIME
i did not really stray away from loving them. but i did turn into a teenager. i got into other things and gained a different circle of friends. it was different, okay? i couldn’t just be in love with a rock star anymore. HAHAHA. there were real life boys i kissed now. but still, i did not obsess over anything like that ever again.
the break up:  i was in high school when they broke up. and even if i had not been keeping tabs on them and watching their every release, i cried really really fucking hard when they announced their break up. i cried so hard that i missed school that day. i was heart broken. and it might not make sense because they are brothers and they’ll really ~never~ break up, it still hurt.
when i found out about Chasing Happiness, i was stoked. of course, i already knew they had returned back together as the Jonas Brothers. after all the experimenting with other things, they really did return to their roots.
reaction about chasing happiness:
oh my GOD
BABY JONAS BROTHERS :(
FUCK. 6 MINUTES INTRO PLAYING
baby nick in les mis :(
okAY SO IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY
okay so the purity rings were a fucking joke i dont feel so guilty about it anymore
niley :( lowkey cried to niley at a young age but whatever
fuCK EVERYONE WHO MADE FUN OF KEVIN. HE’S AMAZING
please be mine :(

YEAR 3000 :(
okay so basically, it was a ride of emotions.
it really was though. i also felt like i time travelled. LITERALLY. it felt like i was in my old room again watching the Jonas Brothers on old YouTube. you know. before google bought the damn thing. but for real, it felt that way. it felt like i was reconnecting with my old self, too. the 10 year old me.
no, wait. even better. it felt like i was reuniting with old friends. the scene when the 3 of them were just drinking and reminiscing and confessing about the old times was so intimate that i felt like i was there. everything they talked about (except for hating each other and how they ACTUALLY broke up), i knew about. they were my whole life back then, really. it really felt like a reunion. like them getting back together meant we were getting back together. the love for the Jonas Brothers. my fangirling over them. god, it sounds so cheesy when i say it out loud. but it really does feel like that.
it was so familiar and so foreign to me at the same time. they talked about everything they used to never talk about back then. they just let it out in the open, really. and i saw how much they’ve grown. and i saw how much i’ve grown. how i am far from who i was at 10 years old.
but when they sang ‘please be mine’ along with the old video of them singing it, i felt myself reconnecting with my younger self. i felt her smile at me and hold my hand telling me that the good will always resurface. and fuck yeah, i got that out of the Jonas Brothers. they’re the part of me that remains innocent. they’re a part of me that remains untouched and untampered with. because my heart was whole when i loved them first. and i think it’ll remain that way.
it hit me harder than i thought it would. and i knew it would hit me. the documentary, i mean. it was beautiful. downright, beautiful. they’re a huge part of who i am today. and i am so so so proud of that.

could you write something like robin and her girlfriend are apart for some reason and them being soft gays missing each other pls
Omg I’m baby rn they’re so cute I
Here you go this is soft as FUCK
The annual Buckley vacation was always the event of the century. Every year, relatives from across the country would gather in a hotel, or a chalet, or camping, and sit around and get drunk and bicker. Robin loved it. She got to see her cousins, who she basically never saw because they all lived so far away, and she got to hang out with her aunt who was a borderline alcoholic and claimed to have slept with 3/4 of the Beatles. It was chaotic, emphatically so, but that’s why she liked it. For a moment she felt like she belonged.
This year was much like any other year - the madness was set to descend on robin’s great uncle’s large ranch surrounded by farmland, about a 16 hour drive from Indiana, down south in central Texas.
-
“Don’t get handsy with any cowgirls whilst you’re away,” you joked, and Robin giggled into the crook of your neck.
“I don’t think you’ve got much to worry about babe, I’m related to everyone there,” Robin replied, sitting up and smiling at you.
“Never stopped anyone in Texas before,” you said, and Robin really laughed at that.
-
“Hey Buckley, how is it down under?” You asked down the phone, stood by the receiver in your kitchen, your mom in the living room dozing to some late night tv.
“First of all, down under is australia babe, but yeah, I’ve been here 10 minutes and it’s all good so far,” she replied.
“Any drama yet?” You asked, yawning.
“No, but Sandra isn’t here yet - I imagine she’s got a lot of choice words for uncle Dan about his new girlfriend,” Robin replied.
“Is that the one with the huge-,”
“-yes, it is,” Robin sighed.
“I liked her,” you said, teasing.
“Shut up,” Robin retorted, followed by muffled voices on the line.
“Robin?” You asked.
“Hm? Yeah, I’m gonna go, my grandpa is threatening my dad with a hockey stick,” she said.
“Ok, stay safe, love you,” you added.
“Love yo-,” the line went dead. You hung up the phone, said goodnight to your mom and trudged upstairs, grabbing one of robin’s t shirts and putting it on before climbing onto her side of the bed.
-
Three days later and Robin had called briefly each day to check in, but the separation was taking its toll. You missed her, and it ached to admit it.
Finally, she called you, exhasperated, waking you from a nap.
“I miss you,” was all she said, and you smiled and laughed down the phone. She sounded tipsy, but it was hard to be sure.
“Is that so,” you replied, your smile evident in your tone.
“Yes. So much. I should have bought more of you’re clothes, I can’t sleep,” she rambled down the line, her speech slightly slurred.
“Are you drunk at 2pm?” You asked.
“...maybe,” she answered, after a brief hesitation. “Ok yes I’m drunk, but I miss you too much I couldn’t cope,” she said, and you could hear the pout.
“Aww baby, I miss you too,” you said.
“God why am i this drunk right now, have I died? Is this hell?” She asked, and you didn’t know if she was even asking you or just talking to herself.
“Why would it be hell babe, you’re talking to me,” you deadpanned.
“No! I didn’t mean that, but I’m so far away from you and it sucks. This call is like temptation,” she rushed.
“... temptation for what Buckley,” you asked, voice going quieter.
“Don’t do that,” she said.
“Do what babe? I just had a nap,” you replied.
“God I hate this, I miss your heartbeat,” she whispered.
“You miss my what?” You asked.
“Your heartbeat. I like to listen to it,” she answered, as if it was obvious.
“That’s... cute? I think,” you replied.
“I miss your gurgly insides,” she giggled.
“Robin that’s so weird, what does that even mean,” you said to the laughing girl on the other end of the phone.
“What! It’s soothing to listen to you digest food,” Robin says, still laughing all the way through.
“I’m going to get a horny phone call in a few hours aren’t I?” You stated.
“...maybe,” she whispered, but it sounded louder down the line than when she was talking normally.
“Looking forward to it Buckley, have a nap maybe,” you say, trying to sound stern.
“Yes ma’am, you’re the boss,” she sighs, and you hear rustling on the other end of the line.
“Robin?” You ask.
“Shh, sleeping,” she mumbles.
“Ok, I’m gonna go,” you say.
“No. Breathe louder,” she whines.
“Robin,” you say.
“Fine, I love you,” she says.
“Love you too babe, talk later yeah?” You answer, but you hear a light snore on the other end of the line that tells you she’s fallen asleep.
“Is it Sunday yet?”
That’s how you answer the phone, having just woke up from a turbulent nights sleep.
“Saturday I’m afraid,” Robin says, and you roll onto your back in bed.
“Keep talking,” you say, closing your eyes.
“Does somebody miss me?” Robin taunts.
“My mom, she’s not stopped asking about my ‘cute little friend’ with the rockin’ bod,” you answer.
“Wow, you’re mom sounds super horny,” she laughs.
“Ew, why’d you have to make it weird,” you say, grimacing.
“Maybe your mom should have answered the phone,” she said, and you could hear her grinning.
“God i miss you,” you whisper, the confession sincere.
“I miss you too babe, but I’m coming home tomorrow,” she says, and you exhale slowly.
“And I’m taking you to dinner, and my mom’s going to book club...” you trail off suggestively towards the end of your sentence.
“I like the sound of that,” she murmurs, and you can tell she’s trying to be discrete.
“Oh yeah?” You reply.
“Did I tell you I’ve been shopping?” She says.
“Really, get me anything?” You ask, both of your suggestive tones getting the better of you.
“I got you something real nice,” she answers, “but it’s a surprise.”
“Am I allowed a preview?” You question, knowing full well the present will be her wearing some new underwear.
“It’s more of a... visual present,” she says.
“Only for the eyes? No touching involved?”
“Obvously there’ll be touching,” she states, her voice getting slightly lower.
“So what are you doing?” You ask, fiddling with the hem of your shirt.
“Well everybody went to the lake, but I didn’t feel like swimming,” she replied.
“Not in the mood to get wet?” You smirked.
“Well I didn’t say that,” she answered, and your stomach churned.
“God Buckley, you’re killing me,” you say.
“Don’t get too excited, my grandma is still here,” she says, and you groan into a pillow.
“Shit,” you say.
“So what are you doing?” She asks, tone still suggestive.
“I’m in bed, it’s cold and boring without you,” you answer, hand moving to the side she usually sleeps on, the cool sheets smooth under your fingertips.
“You’re cute when you miss me,” she whispers.
“Hey, I’m cute all the time,” you retort.
“Yeah, you are,” she sighs.
“Hey, have you seen my hockey hoodie?” You ask, standing up from the bed.
“Um...” she quietens, coughing nonchalantly.
“You’re wearing it aren’t you?” You ask, already knowing the answer.
“... yes,” she whispers.
“Goddammit,” you sigh, palming your forehead and picking up another hoodie.
“Hey! I’ll bet you’re wearing my soccer shirt,” she accuses, completely correct.
“Maybe I am, who’s to say?” You throw back.
“Well you’re hoodie smells like sweat and the ice rink changing room,” she says, laughing.
“You’re shirt smells like lavender and vanilla,” you say, softening into the receiver as if it makes you closer to her.
“Aww, if it helps I like the smell of your sweat,” she replies.
“If you want I can hold off on the shower until tomorrow,” you say.
“Don’t you have practice today?” She asks.
“Exactly,” you retort, picking up your sweatpants and putting them on, receiver wedged in your neck.
“Please shower,” she whines.
“As you wish,” you concede, glancing at your watch, “I’m gonna have to go, if I’m late for practice again coach Barnes will kill me.”
“Ugh, fine,” she groans, “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“See you tomorrow babe,” you say, adding a quick “love you.”
“Love you too, have a good practice,” she says, and she hangs up the phone.
Your truck pulled into robin’s street and parked on the side of the road. Before you could even take the keys out the ignition a familiar figure slid over the bonnet and ripped your door open, before diving in on top of you, squealing.
“Hey,” you said, her lips cutting you off before you could even say anything else.
“I’m never leaving your vicinity again,” she said, fingers tracing your face as she hovered over you.
“Robin, my car door,” you say, and she sits up in your lap.
“Right, sorry,” she whispers, shifting on the bench seat so you can close the door.
“Hungry?” You ask, starting the engine back up, then placing your hand on her thigh.
“Starving,” she replies, her hand moving to the base of your neck and weaving her fingers into the baby hairs there.
“Well let’s go then,” you say, putting the car in gear, driving off with robin’s gaze firmly on your features, soaking you in as though she’s been gone for decades.

Ultimate Beatlemania Tag!
Right off the bat, thank you so much to @johns-prince for tagging me! It took me forever to get around to filling this out, but I did it! I kind of don’t know people though so I don’t really know who I’d tag...I’ll just throw @toughbaby-buggybaby in because why not, you can do this if you want!
Anyway, this is gonna be a long post, so prepare yourself if you decide to read this.
How long have you been a fan?:
Okay well this is a little complicated to answer properly, but I’ll do my best. I’ve been listening to their music ever since I was little, and I’ve always adored it. The only problem was that I was either too young to think “Oh, this is The Beatles, I like them a lot!” or I just had no clue that it was them. I have that problem with a lot of bands that I’m into now actually. My dad always forgot to tell me “Oh by the way, you’re listening to insert band name here,” so now I’m catching up.
But if we’re talking about when I decided to sell my soul to these four dorks then it was about a year ago. I got really into their music because of some family members that had come visiting for the holidays, and they were all about The Beatles. One of my cousins would play their songs for me on the piano, as well as some of Paul’s solo work. After that I went in a spiral of just investing myself in them, so now they own my life.
Favorite Beatle:
How dare you make me choose. I love them all and refuse to pick between them-
Tumblr media
Really though, I adore each of them so much and it’s really hard for me to make a concrete decision, especially since I tend to go through phases. I always conclude with George though because I just relate to him the most personality wise and admire him in a lot of ways, plus I think he’s gorgeous.
Favorite era for music:
I assume we’re talking about their specific eras in their own music? I hope that’s what this question is. If not, I personally like music from the 60s to the 80s, kind of bleeding into the 90s.
For the bug boys specifically, I think at the moment I’d have to go with everything.
Favorite era for lewks:
Again, if we’re talking about in general, I honestly don’t have an answer?? I’m not into fashion whatsoever, I just walk around wearing hoodies and jeans no matter what. The extent of my fashion knowledge is me seeing something I like and thinking “nice.”
For The Beatles, I honestly don’t know either. I thought they usually looked good in one way or another, (with a few exceptions that we’ll be getting to, don’t you worry) though I’ll always have a soft spot for their moptop era because they just looked adorable all the time. Also, those four looked amazing during their teddy boy days. I’m weak for teddy boy John and George.
Favorite song:
This is a really hard question to answer because I have so many favorites but I’ll try anyway.
This Boy is what I’m gonna start with, because oh my goodness it’s beautiful. John’s voice makes me feel so many things in that song, plus the harmonies behind it are just- mwah. Amazing. Along with that, In My Life never ceases to make me emotional for pretty much the same reasons, and the lyrics of course. The acoustic (???) version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps also has the same effect and I can’t deal with it.
When I’m Sixty Four has always been a favorite of mine from the start. A big part is because I’m a biased clarinet player and love every bit of it, plus Paul’s vocals in that one are so crisp and clear and I can’t handle it. And while we’re on the topic of Sgt Pepper, I also love With A Little Help From My Friends. I always get so happy when I hear Ringo’s voice, and this is one of my favorite songs that he sang.
Probably an unpopular choice for a favorite, but I’ve always really liked For You Blue??? I don’t know why, it just makes me laugh and all giddy for some reason. Honey Pie has the same effect on me as well. That song makes me bounce around like I’m a little kid again, and I adore it. It’s pretty much the same with Martha My Dear too, and also it makes me think of Martha which is always great.
I’m also a fan of their solo work and still branching off into it, but I really like Somedays, Blood From A Clone, and I Know (I Know).
Sorry I went on a tangent I just really appreciate music-
Favorite Album:
I’ll try not to rant on this one because again, I love them all. But uhhhhh, the first album I listened to all the way through (and also the first original record I received, my prized possession) was Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. It holds a special place in my heart for that reason, on top of it just being all around amazing. But if you asked me to pick one album that I had to stick with for the rest of my life, right now I’d have to go with Let It Be or The White Album.
Unpopular/Controversial Beatles opinion:
Oh boy, I don’t want to go into details very much because I don’t feel like it, but I’d have to say my belief that the Lennon-McCartney relationship was romantic in some way. I know that one is controversial because…I mean just take a look around.
A song everyone loves but you dislike:
I honestly don’t know really, I don’t think I dislike any of their stuff, or at least I can’t think of any at the current moment. I don’t have many people that I can get opinions about their songs from, but I do know that I don’t go crazy over Yesterday like some people do. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a pretty song, I just have others I prefer much more than it.
A song everyone dislikes but you love:
Again, I don’t really know what songs people collectively love and don’t. I do know that when I listened to Lady Madonna with my mom for the first time, I was absolutely vibing and she was not having it. My step dad wasn’t either, and it’s the same situation with The Long And Winding Road. Those are just between three people’s opinions but shhh-
Your fantasy involving The Beatles:
Gosh, if I were able to have met those four and been one of their friends, it would just be a dream come true. Talking to them and just spending time with them is something I wish I could do, just to be there with those brilliant humans would be amazing. I admire each of them for different reasons, and if I got the chance to have been their friend for years, I could die and be happy.
Tell us about the moment you knew you were a fan:
Looping back to what I said at the start, I’ve technically been a fan of their music since I was a little kid. But talking about the time I unknowingly handed my soul to them, I’d have to say around my last birthday.
A while back I was - and still am - all about the Legend Of Zelda franchise. I’d finished up all the manga that I’d bought based off the games, and wondered if I could find other stuff to read that was like it. Then the world of fanfiction showed itself to me and I just thought “Oh boy, this is a bad idea, but who cares, I want content.”
Fast forward to the point where I was really into The Beatles musically. I wanted to know more about the actual people making the music, so during the process of learning more about them, I remembered the deep and dark depths of fanfiction websites. Thus, I discovered that McLennon was a thing and immediately needed to know why. I literally read my first McLennon fanfic on my birthday.
Basically a month later I’d fallen completely in love with these four guys, their music, and McLennon.
Did you ever have a genuine ‘The Beatles suck!’ phase before becoming a fan?:
Oh no, I could never! This band had been drilled into my mind as one of the greatest of all time by multiple family members, so I just went with it. My dad would talk about them and I’d find them fascinating, even though I was much younger. In fact, I have a fuzzy memory of him driving my brother and I to the beach one time many years back, and he was talking about Norwegian Wood. He never actually told me that was the name, so I forgot shortly after. Then a couple years go by and I’m listening to it for the first time in who knows how long and go “Wait! That’s the song he was talking about!”
Favorite Beatles Book:
I actually haven’t read any yet, but I really want to. I’ve been thinking about getting both of John’s because I’ve heard that they’re quite entertaining for the right people, and based on what I have read from them, I think I’d really like them. I would love to get more after that, but that’s where I’d start.
Thoughts on the old generation of fans:
Having family members that fit in that category, I don’t have any problem with them at all. I mean, they were there during the time of The Beatles, and they always have interesting things to say about them and fun stories to tell. In my own experiences some of them can be a bit condescending with their views and opinions because they were alive during the time, but I know that not all the people in that generation are like that.
If Hollywood were to make a high budget Beatles biopic, what is one thing you desperately hope they include?:
Lots of things really. If I had to go with one, I really would want them to show just how much those four loved and cared for each other, especially the bond between Paul and John. I feel like the breakup, which is a very complicated topic in it of itself, tinted the media’s view to the point where some people believe that they hated each other, which is far from the truth.
I assume they would get their personalities right?? But if that’s something high budget biopics don’t guarantee, then that too. I just want to see their lives done right, with the important factors and people in their lives shown in the right light too. I know that’s a lot to ask of a biopic and probably will never happen, but I can dream.
Do you read/write fanfic?:
Yes, I do both. I wanted to become a better writer and artist, so I use The Beatles and other fandoms I’m a part of as a creative outlet in that sense. There are also so many amazing creators out there that I adore, so why would I not pay attention to the great things people have made?
Are you the only one in your family/friend group to enjoy them?:
No, but also yes? It’s kind of weird actually. Family wise, I have a lot of family members that at least like their music, so I can talk to them when it comes to that. But when it comes to the boys as people, I really don’t have many family members who know much or care. I can rant to my mom because she just takes it all in even though she doesn’t have a clue what I’m talking about, and I infected my brother with Beatlemaniac as well, so now his favorite is Ringo and we talk about them a lot with each other.
Friends wise, I have two that enjoy them. My closest friend is a musician and music is really important in her family, so she’s been listening to a number of bands since she was basically a baby. I talk to her about anything and everything, which also means I rant about everything involving The Beatles. As far as I know, she doesn’t mind and likes talking about the McLennon tea. The other loves all music and she’s been listening to some of their stuff since she was young as well, but it was when I was getting really invested in The Beatles that she also did.
Are you a shipper?:
Yes, yes, and yes.
Addressing McLennon first, I don’t necessarily see it as only a ship, I believe that those two were in a romantic relationship of some kind. But I’ll save those opinions for just a little bit-
Of course when roaming around in the fanfiction world for that good McLennon content, I was bound to find other ships. Obviously my heart belongs to McLennon, so I can’t see Paul or John in any other relationship. As a result of that, I found comfort in Starrison and think it’s precious, though that’s purely just a ship in my book, so I love and put their friendship first. It definitely doesn’t fall into the same boat as McLennon for me.
Favorite movie starring/made by them?:
Over the past few months I fell in love with Yellow Submarine, which I am going to make count in terms of this question because it’s quality content. I love the humor, the artwork, the designs, the story, the music, everything. I just love it all.
Do you believe in McLennon?:
I’m sure you know the answer to that by now.
General opinions on McLennon?:
This post could go on forever if I actually let myself say everything I wanted to. I’ll try to keep it brief because I’ve rambled for long enough as is.
As I already stated, I have a firm believe that McLennon was real. No, is real. Paul shows his love for John to this day, and I’m sure John is reciprocating it wherever he is right now. Everything that they went through together just takes me on the most emotional rollercoaster to ever exist.
I was in the middle of making a list of just all the little things about their amazing relationship, but I realized there were so many that I could fill books about it all, and there would still be so much that we don’t know about. In the end, what John and Paul had was theirs, and the glimpses of it that we’ve been lucky enough to see are beautiful, heartbreaking, and everything in between. The love they shared lives on in the music they created, and I’m just glad to be able to experience it in that way.
If you got to change ONE thing about their history, what would it be and why?:
Oh this is a hard one for sure. I think if I were able to change something, it would be how the breakup played out. Altering factors in their lives so that they had been able to communicate with each other (specifically John and Paul) properly so they were on the same page with each other in what they needed and wanted probably would have softened the blow of the breakup for them, if it were to even happen.
Preventing the alcohol and substance abuse that was dealt with during that time and onward would most definitely have made things better as well, along with everything that happened with John’s association with Yoko. If they had just been able to keep their issues under control with help from people qualified to do so, I think things would have turned out much better for all of them. Then again, it’s such a complicated topic and there are so many things we could change for the better that I don’t have a set way to answer the question.
What song has the best vocals?:
I’m about to go on a tangent again, sorry-
I love the vocals for When I’m Sixty Four. Everything just sounds so clean in that song. I also really love how Paul sounds in Michelle and She’s Leaving Home, with the background feeling all calm so his voice kind of pops.
Girl leaves me feeling like a puddle and I don’t know how to handle it. It’s a similar situation with Do You Want To Know A Secret and This Boy too. The vocals just make me feel things.
John’s voice in Across The Universe and Julia sounds so sweet and sincere, and it always calms me down. I don’t really know why I love it so much, I just think the vocals are wonderful and almost insecure.
I think my favorite performance vocals wise has to be If I Fell though. The way Paul and John’s voices blend perfectly shows prominently in this song, and it’s absolutely beautiful.
What song do you feel had no effort put into it?:
Los Paranoias, but I don’t care and vibe to it anyway.
What is a well talked about moment in Beatles history that you genuinely believe to be false?:
I’ve been thinking really hard about this question but I can’t really think of one off the top of my head that holds much significance. I know there are plenty, but how glorified John and Yoko’s relationship was just seems so artificial to me the majority of the time. I know that isn’t really a moment per say, but it’s the only thing I could think of.
What is something you KNOW to be true, but often gets erased in their history?:
The biggest one that comes to mind right now is definitely the majority of the things involving Yoko throughout the breakup of the band up until John’s death. Honestly, I’ve read and thought about it so much that I just don’t really feel like going into much detail, but in general a lot of the things Yoko did seem to be brushed under the rug.
Least favorite look from a Beatle(s):
Tumblr media
Need I say more?
Really though, I don’t have a care for the facial hair John and Paul had in 67, and again later on with their beards. I think they just looked better without it, when you can see their whole face. There’s also the underlying struggles they were dealing with at the time that brought on those messy looks, which makes me more sad than anything.
Favorite look from a Beatle(s):
I’m just gonna list my favorites for each of them and then my favorite pictures or gifs of them because why not.
How I Won The War John is beautiful and I can’t explain why, he just has that special something. I also have a thing for 64-66 John in hats-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly everything from 63-66 is great for Paul. He looked pretty much the same to me during that time period, just with his hair gradually getting longer.
Tumblr media
He also had his moments in 67, after he got rid of the mustache (that’s how I feel about John in 67 too)
I could go ahead and say just about everything for George honestly because I’m weak for him. But to pick absolute favorites, then I’d go with 65, 67, and The Rooftop Concert.
Tumblr media
I absolutely adore 63 and 64 Ringo to no end. He was just adorable no matter what.
Tumblr media
For the whole group together, I think my favorites would be their Shea Staduim or A Hard Day’s Night looks. They make my heart melt.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway, that was a lot of rambling and I definitely didn’t need to write as much as I did, but what can you do? Thank you again for the tag! On the off chance that anyone sees this and wants to do it, go ahead! Peace and Love <3

Your name, please? Robyn. Are you heartbroken right now? No, my heart’s doing okay. If so, how long have you been heartbroken? Do you like the area you live in? I like that it’s a lot quieter than the metro, but we get everything we could also get in the city nonetheless. Right now it’s just a little unsettling since the Taal Volcano erupted and we have ashfall land all over our house, but otherwise where we live is pretty decent and uneventful for the most part. Do you ever get complimented on your eyes? What color are they? It’s not my strongest feature so no, not really. They’re dark brown/almost black.
What facial feature do you like the best on a person? Everyone has their different strong suits, so. Do you like to be called baby? Only by my parents and my girlfriend, because otherwise that would be creepy. What is your favorite flower? I like roses, sunflowers, and peonies. Idk, my answers to this question changes every time so it’s safe to say they’re only my favorites today. When did you last use the restroom? Five minutes ago. I went before starting this. How long is your hair? Pretty long. I haven’t had it cut since late in 2018; if I throw my head slightly back it already reaches my hips. I plan to keep it long until my graduation shoot, so I won’t be going to the salon for at least another month. Do you have braces? I used to. Do you have any freckles? Nope. What is your favorite Internet meme? There was a local meme going around last week and it involved people making hilarious puns out of celebrity names and pairing them with Photoshopped pictures of the celebrities to match the pun – for example, a local celeb named Rico Blanco was styled as Rico Blanket and a photo of him was shopped so that he’s in bed wrapped in a blanket :(((( OK IT DOESN’T SOUND FUNNY RN but all the entries were hilarioussssss I swear. Unfortunately everyone hopped on the meme train and it died in like a week. How many windows does your room have? Two big windows but each have four tiny window panes in them that can be opened. Do you have a rug in your room? What color is it? No. My dog likes peeing on rugs so we don’t like having them laying around. What is the weirdest animal you've ever held? I don’t think any animal is weird... but the coolest ones I’ve ever held are a snake, an eagle, a sea turtle, and a crocodile. The first three I got to meet in Bali, and the crocodile was from Palawan. Do you get extremely hyper when under the influence of sugar? No. I never really believed in that either. What about caffeine? I get pretty talkative, yes. I also talk like I have built-in exclamation points lol. Have you ever tried any drugs? If so, did you regret it? No, I haven’t. Do you have any pregnant friends? None of my friends are, but I can never be sure anymore when it comes to people I know. I always say no to this question, then sooner or later someone I know gives birth kfdgkdjfhd like a classmate from high school just had her third kid and no one even had any idea she was pregnant again. Guess I’ll just keep answering this question with a shrug. Have you seen anyone lately that you knew but didn't remember from where? Yeah, this was me for a few seconds when I arrived in my history class for our first day last Friday and I saw several people that I knew I know, but I had to recollect my thoughts. I eventually remembered who they were, but for a few seconds I was stumped. When was the last time you toilet papered or egged someones house? I’ve never done this, because you don’t do this in the Philippines. Do you usually dress up for Halloween? Some years I would. When ordering food, what do you usually get as a drink? I always get ala carte because I only drink water (I get full quicker if I have any other drink), and service water is always there. Put your favorite color and favorite animal. EX: Silver walrus Pink dog. When drawing something, do you try to be super precise or do you not care? I don’t care for drawing and am aware of just how bad I am at it, so I barely make any effort when I have to. When was the last time you snapped at someone? Sunday morning. My mom was playing a mobile game where the character will only be able to move if you scream, so she was screaming her ass off at 7 AM and I was worried it would wake the neighbors up. Does it bug you when people clap with their palms? HAHAHAHAHA like Nicole Kidman? Oh man. I’ve never actually seen someone clap the way she did in real life, so I don’t know if it would bug me. I know it’d send me laughing, though. Have you hugged anyone today? Just my dog. Classes have been suspended because of the Taal erupting, so I’m not seeing anyone else today. How many languages do you know how to say 'happy birthday' in? Filipino, English, Spanish, French, and Korean, so make that five. What language would you like to learn that you don't already know? Korean, just because I watch so many Korean shows as it is lmao. Are you able to take this language at your school? Yes, but it’s not required in my curriculum so I’ve never taken a Korean language elective. Have you ever been into a bar? Yes, I’ve always preferred bars to clubs so I’ve gone to a lot of them. What ethnicity are you? Broadly, Austronesian. But specifically, I’m Filipino, and even more specifically, Tagalog. How much makeup do you wear? None. I usually wear makeup only for special events, or if I absolutely had to, like for my graduation shoot. If you could fly, what kind of wings would you have? I’d like pink sparkly ones please hahahaha. Write some lyrics from the song stuck in your head right now. Nothing’s playing in my head at the moment. Do you like that song? Would you describe yourself as 'fiesty'? You mean feisty? I can bring out that side of me if I have to, but I’m not naturally it. How corny is High School Musical in your opinion? Pretty fucking corny. But I love the series and it’ll always be an important part of my childhood, so I’m never going to hate it. Have you actually read Twilight? Yes. I don’t know how I started getting into it though; I just remember it became insanely popular in the fourth grade and all of a sudden I wanted the Twilight boxed set for Christmas. What about Harry Potter? Yes, I read most of the books. My sister got into HP when she was aroundddd 10-11ish and my parents also got her a boxed set, so I borrowed each book after she finished them. Out of the two, which is better? Twilight.
Name a member of the Beatles! Ringo Starr. Who was the name of your first crush? My first real crush was Andi. How long ago was that? Eleven years ago. Do you still know that person? She migrated to New Zealand nine years ago, so we got disconnected for a long time and that’s when we got cut off. We’re Facebook friends now, but it’s never been the same. Happy for her, though. Can you handle your emotions very well? Usually I can, but when I’m at my breaking point then I’m at my breaking point. How often do you read books? Once every five years :(( JK uhhhhh I read loads, just not from books, and particularly not anything fictional. Are you the jealous type? I can be when there’s reason to, yep. Are you the type of person who gets jealous of people's pasts? No. And usually people regret their past, so I don’t feel jealous about that. Have you ever gotten an ear infection from riding an airplane? No. My ears were incredibly uncomfortable during my first plane ride though, and it didn’t help that I was already panicking long before the flight started. Anyway, my ears never fully ~popped and I was like 80% deaf for the entire plane ride. When was the last time you witnessed someone throw up? The last time someone threw up, it was me lol. But if we’re gonna be strict about the question, it wassssss last April I think. When was the last time YOU threw up? Sometime around May last year. Do you know anyone who faints at the sight of blood? ME. I’m anyone who faints at the sight of blood. Maybe not literally faint but I do feel super nauseous and weak and dizzy and I’d sometimes gag too. Hmm. I wonder how those girls have their period. Yeah well it’s not a very fun 3-4 days for me, my dude. Don't you just love the Cottonelle puppy? I don’t know what that is. Can you do any 'magic' tricks? No. Do you know how to play Checkers? I used to as a kid, because we used to have lots of board games. But since it was the game we barely ever played, I eventually forgot the rules. What clubs are you in at school? I’m in one of the two journalism organizations, and I also joined the graduation committee this year so that I get to contribute something for our batch :) What do you fear most in this world? Either falling from a very high place or drowning. And injections. What do your siblings fear most in this world? I know my sister is afraid of big crowds, chaotic situations, and small spaces. I don’t know what my brother fears, nor do I really care. What was the last sentence you heard anyone say? I’m listening to a mukbang ASMR right now and the last thing the girl said was her basically describing what she’s about to eat. Is Taylor more of a boy's name or a girl's name? I know we’re not supposed to care about this anymore, but if I really had to think about this question I see it as a boy’s name. But I also see that it works on girls just as nicely, so. What about Dylan? Boy’s name. But it sounds so badass on girls, and I prefer it as a girl’s name. What colors are the eyes of your family members? Dark brown/black. Filipinos all look the same, dude. Are you related to anyone with red hair? No. Do you know anyone with super super green eyes? Other than celebrities, no. What color was your hair when you were little? It has always been black. What color is it now? ^ Were you a chubby baby? I was a pretty chubby young kid especially from the ages of 3-5, but I was an okay-sized baby/toddler. I’d be surprised if I was chubby considering my mom and dad are both slim. What is your favorite mythical creature? Not a fan of those. Do you know anyone with a mullet? No, I don’t think so. Put down a random word here. Watermelon. What is your favorite fruit? Avocado. Now what is your favorite flavor of lollipop? Chocolate. If you combine your 2 above answers and make a perfume would it smell good? Probably not. They’re so different. Do you always feel like you have to be the best? Yes. That’s why I always take it hard when I end up not being that. Are you looking forward to summer? Yes, because I’ll get to rest. No, because it will be my last summer until I die. Are you wearing socks right now or are you barefoot? I’m barefoot. Socks always feels like they’re there, and I don’t like that feeling. What's on your favorite necklace? I’m not regularly wearing any necklace these days. How many hours of sleep did you get last night? Around seven, which is okay for me. Which is better: gingerbread or butterscotch? Caramel or peanut butter? Nutella or chocolate? Do you own an iPad? We own a family iPad, but no one’s used it in a while. I was the one who used it last as a means to work and communicate, back when I broke my phone and didn’t have a new laptop yet in my first year of college. I honestly hope that iPad never dies on us, since there’s a load of great memories there. Do you watch Glee? No and as someone who hates song covers, I think I’m better off not watching it skksjfdhgfg. How hard is it for you to get out of bed in the morning? When that day would require me to do something I dread, like attend a class I hate, it will be a lot harder for me to get up. But generally I’m pretty okay, as long as I set my alarm 30 minutes to an hour before I actually have to get up so that I have enough time to properly wake up. How many books are in the current room you're in? I’m in the dining room so there are zero books around. Have you ever witnessed an aircraft break the sound barrier? No. I also never really knew what that means, but I know I’ve never seen that. Do you keep a sketchpad in your room? I don’t draw, so I never needed one. Is there anything you do right before you go to sleep? Put water on my dog’s bowl – he likes drinking before we doze off. What color is your favorite purse? I only use one and it’s pink. How much money is currently in your wallet? ₱2,000. Do you get an allowance? Yes. How many songs are on your iPod? Don’t use an iPod these days. Do you usually have sweet dreams or nightmares? My dreams are either weird or nightmares. I never get any sweet ones. How has the weather been lately? It’s a little gloomy and cloudy. I don’t know if it’s an effect of the volcano eruption nearby, or if the weather is just like this. When was the last earthquake you felt? It was either August or September.

Film Recommendations!
I thought I’d recommend some of my absolute favourite movies, because I love sharing my love of movies and just things in general with people. So, in no particular order, here is my list of recommendations:
1. Tombstone (1993)
Tumblr media
So I just watched this movie a couple days ago and absolutely loved it. Yes, it is a western. Do you need to like westerns to watch it? Nope. That’s why it’s great. And, it’s based on real people/real events. I sobbed hysterically at the end, but I’m also a huge sap. Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday is perfection. I love love love him.
Here’s the plot summary: Wyatt Earp (Kurt Russell) and his brothers, Morgan (Bill Paxton) and Virgil (Sam Elliott), have left their gunslinger ways behind them to settle down and start a business in the town of Tombstone, Ariz. While they aren't looking to find trouble, trouble soon finds them when they become targets of the ruthless Cowboy gang. Now, together with Wyatt's best friend, Doc Holliday (Val Kilmer), the brothers pick up their guns once more to restore order to a lawless land.
Quotes:
“I’m your huckleberry.”
“Why, Johnny Ringo, you look like somebody just walked over your grave.”
“You gonna do somethin’ or just stand there and bleed?”
2. Fight Club (1999)
Tumblr media
Okay. Okay. I just watched this one, too, and let me tell you. If you haven’t seen it/haven’t been spoiled for it, you have no idea what it’s really about. Honestly. It’s so fuckin’ weird and it blew my mind which is something I thought only M. Night Shyamalan could do. Wow, just. . . wow. Watch it, I implore you. I think everyone essentially knows the basic plot, but here it is if you want it, straight from google:
A depressed man (Edward Norton) suffering from insomnia meets a strange soap salesman named Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) and soon finds himself living in his squalid house after his perfect apartment is destroyed. The two bored men form an underground club with strict rules and fight other men who are fed up with their mundane lives. Their perfect partnership frays when Marla (Helena Bonham Carter), a fellow support group crasher, attracts Tyler's attention.
Quotes:
“You met me at a very strange time in my life.”
“The things you own end up owning you.”
“It’s only after we’ve lost everything that we’re free to do anything.”
3. Unbreakable (2000)
Tumblr media
Speaking of M. Night Shyamalan. While every one of his movies I’ve seen (Split, Glass, Lady in the Water, The Visit) have all been fantastic and mind-blowing, Unbreakable still has my favourite premise and my favourite Shyamalan twist ending. I love this one, even though I don’t really care for Bruce Willis.
Plot summary: A security guard, having been the sole survivor of a high-fatality train crash, finds himself at the centre of a mysterious theory that explains his consistent physical good fortune. When news of his survival is made public, a man whose own body is excessively weak tracks him down in an attempt to explain his unique unbreakable nature.
Quotes:
“Do you know what the scariest thing is? To not know your place in this world. To not know why you’re here.”
4. This is the End (2013)
Tumblr media
Seth Rogen. Jay Baruchel. James Franco. Jonah Hill. Danny McBride. Craig Robinson. Playing themselves. The apocalypse. Hilarity ensues. Cameos from Emma Watson, Kevin Hart, Michael Cera, Rihanna, Paul Rudd, Channing Tatum, Aziz Ansari, Jason Segel, Mindy Kaling, and the Backstreet Boys. It’s so funny, I absolutely love it.
Plot summary: In Hollywood, actor James Franco is throwing a party with a slew of celebrity pals. Among those in attendance are his buddies Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride and Craig Robinson. Suddenly, an apocalypse of biblical proportions erupts, causing untold carnage among Tinseltown's elite and trapping Franco's party in his home. As the world they knew disintegrates outside, cabin fever and dwindling supplies threaten to tear the six friends apart.
Quotes:
“I don’t want to die at James Franco’s house.”
“Oh, no, no, no. I’m drinking and smoking weed. I’m on a cleanse, I’m not psychotic.”
“Take it easy, Dumbledore.”
5. You’ve Got Mail (1998)
Tumblr media
Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. This might be my favourite romantic comedy, and I watch a lot. They’re adorable, and Meg Ryan is everything. This one made me cry twice. Once from sadness, once from happiness. Also it has Dave Chappelle in it, who I absolutely love.
Plot summary: Struggling boutique bookseller Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan) hates Joe Fox (Tom Hanks), the owner of a corporate Foxbooks chain store that just moved in across the street. When they meet online, however, they begin an intense and anonymous Internet romance, oblivious of each other's true identity. Eventually Joe learns that the enchanting woman he's involved with is actually his business rival. He must now struggle to reconcile his real-life dislike for her with the cyber love he's come to feel.
Quotes:
“There’s the dream of someone else.”
“But I just wanted to say that all this nothing has meant more to me than so many somethings.”
“I love daisies. They’re so friendly. Don’t you think daisies are the friendliest flower?”
6. A Hard Day’s Night (1964)
Tumblr media
For anyone who loves The Beatles. Here they play themselves, and show what their lives are like. It’s ridiculous and hilarious and god, if I didn’t love them before I loved them dearly after watching. It’s such a fun, easy watch and I adore it.
Plot summary: Over two "typical" days in the life of The Beatles, the boys struggle to keep themselves and Sir Paul McCartney's mischievous grandfather in check while preparing for a live television performance.
Quotes:
“How did you find America?” “Turned left at Greenland.”
“Hey mister can we have our ball back!”
“You’re a swine.”
7. Dazed and Confused (1993)
Tumblr media
My favourite movie to watch at the beginning and end of the school year, and let’s be honest, every month in between. I’ve seen this movie more times than I can say. I love the ‘70’s setting, the actors, the plot. Another wonderful, easy watch that just makes me happy. Killer soundtrack, too.
Plot summary: The adventures of high school and junior high students on the last day of school in May 1976.
Quotes:
“You just gotta keep livin’, man. L-i-v-i-n.”
“It’d be a lot cooler if you did.”
“I just wanna look back and say that I did it the best that I could while I was stuck in this place.”
“I’d like to quit thinking of the present, like right now, is some minor, insignificant preamble to somethin’ else.”
8. Dirty Dancing (1987)
Tumblr media
Anything with Patrick Swayze is wonderful, and this is no exception. Johnny and Baby are perfect. This movie also has the best soundtrack of any movie I’ve ever watched. Fantastic love story, fantastic movie. Watch it.
Plot summary: Baby (Jennifer Grey) is one listless summer away from the Peace Corps. Hoping to enjoy her youth while it lasts, she's disappointed when her summer plans deposit her at a sleepy resort in the Catskills with her parents. Her luck turns around, however, when the resort's dance instructor, Johnny (Patrick Swayze), enlists Baby as his new partner, and the two fall in love. Baby's father forbids her from seeing Johnny, but she's determined to help him perform the last big dance of the summer.
Quotes:
“Nobody puts Baby in a corner.”
“Fight harder, huh? I don’t see you fighting so hard, Baby. I don’t see you running up to daddy telling him I’m your guy.”
“You’re right, Johnny. You can’t win no matter what you do.”
“Go back to your playpen, Baby.”
9. The Sound of Music (1965)
Tumblr media
This is such a beautiful movie, and I love it so much. My mom and I try to watch it every Christmas as our little tradition. Julie Andrews as Maria is so wonderful, and all of the songs are so, so good. I love all of the children dearly, and oh, do I love Captain VonTrapp.
Plot summary: A tuneful, heartwarming story, it is based on the real life story of the Von Trapp Family singers, one of the world's best-known concert groups in the era immediately preceding World War II. Julie Andrews plays the role of Maria, the tomboyish postulant at an Austrian abbey who becomes a governess in the home of a widowed naval captain with seven children, and brings a new love of life and music into the home.
Quotes:
“You cry a little, and then you wait for the sun to come out. It always does.”
“God bless Louisa, Brigitta, Marta, and little Gretl. Oh, I forgot the other boy. What’s his name? Well, god bless what’s-his-name.”
“I want you to stay. I ask you to stay.”
10. Gladiator (2000)
Tumblr media
“Are you not entertained?” I think everyone has heard that line, from this amazing movie. One of the many that has made me cry, it’s such a beautiful story. Also, gladiators. That immediately sells it for me. All of the performances by the actors are top notch as well.
Plot summary: Set in Roman times, the story of a once-powerful general forced to become a common gladiator. The emperor's son is enraged when he is passed over as heir in favour of his father's favourite general. He kills his father and arranges the murder of the general's family, and the general is sold into slavery to be trained as a gladiator - but his subsequent popularity in the arena threatens the throne.
Quotes:
“My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius. Commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, and loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance. In this life or the next.”
“What we do in life echoes in eternity.”
“Falling down is how we grow. Staying down is how we die.”

Thanksgiving Dinner
Apple Pie
Demisexual Claire Novak
Summary:  Claire finally brings Kevin home for family dinner. But it can't just be any family dinner, no, it has to be Thanksgiving dinner. With her ENTIRE FAMILY present. Oh, and her dads still hate him....
AO3 Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/16651645  (Part 3 of the Never Let You Go series)
Kevin lounged on Krissy’s bed watching Claire pack for her Thanksgiving trip home.  He had offered to help her multiple times, and each time she responded with “You’ll just do it wrong.”  So, he resigned himself to thumbing through magazines on her roommate’s unmade bed, skimming the articles and sex tips and sniffing every perfume ad.  It was Wednesday, and Claire had just finished her last class before Fall Break.
“You’ll be back here on Monday, right?” he asked.
“Mmhmm…”
“And your folks live less than an hour away, right?”
“Yeah?”
“Then why do you need so many bags?”  Kevin asked with a chuckle. So far, Claire had three bags packed and was working on her fourth.
“Well, this one has all my books,” she said as she pointed to the oversized wheeled backpack.  “This one has my computer and my camera equipment.”  That one was a medium sized hard case with wheels, plastered with stickers.  “These other two are for my clothes and, you know, girlie products.”
“Wait, so you’re on vacation and you’re still going to be doing homework?”
“Well, duh.”
“Ok, ok,” Kevin said with a chuckle.  “You do you. But you know,” Kevin said brightly, “try to relax a little.”
“Oh yeah, like that’s even possible.”  Claire said, rolling her eyes. “What about you?  Can you relax? Are you even ready to meet my family tomorrow?  I mean, like, my whole family?”
“Yeah, Babe.  I’m actually fine.  I mean, I already know your grandmother and your aunts, and they love me.  So what do I have to worry about?”
Claire rolled her eyes again.  “Oh, I don’t know. Only that my dads basically hate you already, and if Jack doesn’t like you, well, then all bets are off.  I mean, if my twin can’t stand you , then there’s not anything I can do about it.  And then there’s Alex. She hates everyone.” Claire started pacing and her voice got faster and higher pitched the more she talked.
Kevin grabbed her forearms and stopped her pacing in the middle of the room.  “Shhh. Chill out. It will be ok. Your siblings will love me. I mean, I am pretty awesome.  And I have no doubt Ellen will make sure your dads remain civil during Thanksgiving dinner.”
Claire actually laughed at that.  “That’s true. My gramma can be pretty scary when she wants to be.”
About an hour later, Kevin was dropping Claire off in front of her parents’ house.  “You and Krissy and Joss will be here on time, tomorrow, right? Don’t be late.”
“I know, I know.  High noon. Sharp.”  Kevin said with fond exasperation.  They had been over this dozens of times already. “Our watches are synchronized and I have my super secret decoder ring.”
“And bring your guitar,” Claire continued. Kevin wasn’t sure if she heard his snark in the midst of her panicking. “Jack will want to play.  Dad won’t let him touch his ever since he got jelly on it…” she trailed off, though still mumbling to herself as she pulled her luggage out of the backseat.
“Yes, Claire, I know.  Now go, see your family.  I’ll see you tomorrow.” Kevin kissed her on the cheek before leaving her, and her bags, in the driveway.  Hey, he offered to help, but she’d steadfastly refused.
Claire wrestled her bags to the front door and was just trying to dig her key out of her purse when the door flung open.  Jack was standing there with a huge smile on his face.
“Claire!  You’re home!”  He engulfed her in a big hug, grabbed her bags, and ushered her inside.  “Alex! Dads! Claire is home!”  He didn’t really need to shout, because they were all gathered in the living room already.
Alex looked up from where she was lounging on the couch.  “Hi.” She returned to her phone after that affectionate greeting.
“You’ve been out of class for three hours.  What took you so long?” Castiel asked. “I hope you brought your midterm project with you.”
“Geez, Cas.  You’re on vacation.  Can’t you give ‘Professor Novak’ the day off?” Dean said, smoothing his hand down his husband’s arm and grabbing his elbow, giving him a gentle shake before greeting Claire with a hug.  “Welcome home, Kiddo.”
“Hi, Dad.”  Claire returned the hug affectionately, their previous fighting long but forgotten.
“Ok, now go upstairs and get cleaned up.  We have pies to make.”
“Awesome.  Is Gramma coming over tonight?”
“Yeah,” Dean answered.  “She’s coming over tonight to help with the cooking.  Cas is picking up Sam and Jess and Gabe and Kali at the airport tonight, so Jess and Gabe will also be here to help.  Jess said she’sreally excited to learn Mom’s stuffing recipe.  Then Grampa, Jo and Charlie will be here tomorrow.  I’m assuming your new ‘friend’ will be here then?”
Claire nodded, hearing the finger quotes in her dad’s voice.
“And I assume your therapist is coming too?”
Claire rolled her eyes.  “Da-ad. Krissy is not my therapist.  But yes, she’s coming and bringing her girlfriend too, remember?”
“Yeah, I remember.”
A couple of hours later, Claire was pressing pie crust into her fifth pie tin, covered in flour up to her elbows, when the door opened and Ellen Harvelle-Singer walked in.  “Gramma!” Claire exclaimed, running to give the woman a big, flour coated hug.
“Hey, baby,” Ellen said, smoothing Claire’s wild blond hair.
Dean came out of the kitchen just behind his daughter.  “Hey Mom,” he said, wrapping both women in a hug.
Ellen looked at Claire.  “Well, didja tell him?”
“Tell me what?” Dean asked.
“Guess not.” Ellen said.  Changing the subject, she asked, “So where’s my dreamy son-in-law and my other two grandbabies?”
“Cas and Jack went to pick up the rest of the family at the airport, and Alex is up in her room.  She cut herself peeling apples for Claire, and wouldn’t let me help her. She insisted on waiting until you got here.  Apparently, you fix cuts better than me,” Dean pouted at his mother.
“Well, then, let me go take care of that,” Ellen said before turning pointedly to Claire.
“While I’m gone, you tell him, got it?” No one defied the matriarch of the family for very long.
“Yes, ma’am,” Claire gulped, and she sheepishly made her way back to the kitchen and forced herself to concentrate extra hard on her pie crust.  Dean just stood in front of her with his arms crossed over his chest.
“Well?” he said with a lifted eyebrow.
Never looking up from her pie crust, she said in a single rushed breath, “So, you know that band that played at the Roadhouse, the punk band that did a cover of ‘Stairway to Heaven’ that you hated, and you really don’t like how Gramma hired him as the music manager there, even though he’s really good and the bar’s profits are up, but you just generally really hate that guy for no actual reason?”
Dean stared at his kid for a long moment before simply barking, “Yeah.”
Claire finally looked up from her pie, her blue eyes locking with Dean’s green.  “Well, that’s Kevin. My Kevin.”
“Wha-What?” Dean spluttered.  “But-but you said he was in band not A band.”
“No, I said he was in a band.  And I was ready to bring him home for dinner, until Aunt Jo told me what you said!”  Claire stashed her last pie crust in the freezer, slamming the door to emphasize her point.
Dean dropped heavily into a chair at the kitchen table.  Now, Claire’s actions made sense. They’d been fighting for months over this very issue.  And it was all his fault. He scrubbed a hand over the back of his neck, feeling chagrined.  “So, that’s why you haven’t been home for family dinner?”
“Well…..yeah,” Claire said as she started removing the peeled apples from the cinnamon and ginger infused water they were resting in.  That was her secret, why she made her family’s signature apple pie better than Dean, and even better than Ellen. She began chopping as she was talking.  “I mean, it’s not exactly encouraging to bring your boyfriend home to meet the parents, when you already know the parents hate him.”
“Oh, come on, Claire!  You know that’s not what I meant.  Just because I hate the way he performed, doesn’t mean I hate him.  I don’t even know him.”
“Yeah, well, you’re not exactly the poster boy for easy going paternal figures, particularly if it comes to your beloved Led Zeppelin.  Who I still think are overrated anyway.” Claire said sassily as she continued to chop.
“Like you’re any different.  Just let someone butcher a Beatles’ song,” Dean retorted lamely. He had a note of pride in his voice he couldn’t conceal.
Claire shrugged, a small smile tugging at her mouth  “Well, I am your daughter.”
Dean got up from the kitchen table and moved to one of the bar stools in front of the counter where Claire was chopping.  “So, tell me about him. Clearly there must be more to him than the butchering of perfectly good classic rock.”
Claire’s soft smile widened just slightly.  “Well, his rendition of ‘Blackbird’ is the best I’ve ever heard.”
Dean looked mildly surprised.  “That’s saying a lot.”
“Dad, he’s enormously talented.  Just because you’re too old to get his style of music doesn’t make it bad.”
“Your face is old.”
Claire raised an eyebrow at him.  “Nice comeback, there, Pops.  If my face is old, what does that make your face?”
“Shut up,” Dean retorted with a smile of his own.  “So, go on, tell me more.”
“You literally just told me to shut up.”
“You know what I mean.”
Claire stuck her tongue out at him, but continued talking.  “Kevin is really great. He plays six instruments.” Dean made a “huh” face at that.  “He has a degree in music theory from Princeton.  Did you know that because of his help, the Roadhouse has become one of the top college bars in the city?”
“Please, your grams and Jo could have done that.”
“No, Dad.  Kevin is the one who hooked them up with the up and coming bands in the area.  There’s more to music than just cover bands for mullet rock, you know.”
“Hey, I like those bands. And they don’t all have mullets.”
“Yes, but you’re not a twenty something college student with miles of disposable income,” Claire said cheekily.  “Your bands still play there; just other bands play there too. Gramma put him in charge of this summer’s Battle of the Bands.  It will be epic.”
“You know, I don’t know how I feel about my kid sister meeting your boyfriend before me.”
“Hey, it’s not like that was planned.  They didn’t even know we were dating when they hired him.  It was only after he and Jo got to talking and that’s how she found out.  Then she called me and told me what you said about him.” Claire dropped her eyes back to the cutting board.  She’d been making this pie for so many years that the chopping came naturally to her and she hardly had to watch what she was doing, but she found she couldn’t look into her dad’s eyes anymore.
Dean reached across the count and stilled her hands.  “Hey, hey, Claire-bear, I’m sorry I said that. Well, I’m sorry I said it like that.  If I had known he was important to you…well, I was drunk so I probably still would have said it.”
“Wow, Dad, you suck at apologizing.” Claire smiled weakly.
“Well, I’m sorry, but your boyfriend’s music does suck.” She glared at him.  “To me,” he added. “But I won’t let that affect my judgement of him as a person.  But if he turns out to be an asshole and he hurts you, I’ll just beat him up extra hard.”
“He’s got a black belt in three martial arts, Dad, I doubt you could take him.”
Dean took her hands and looked her in the eye.  “Seriously, though, Claire, what kind of guy is he?  He’s not pressuring you into anything, right?” That was a problem in her last relationship.  Her ex-girlfriend’s addictive personality lead to her wanting to do things that Claire was uncomfortable with.
“Dad, he’s a really, really great guy.  He knows and respects my limits, sometimes even better than I do.”  Claire blushed and ducked her head down. “He, well, um, Kevin, he might be the one, Dad.” Dean’s eyes lit up with happiness.  But before he could say anything, Claire added, “But don’t you dare start planning a wedding.  We are nowhere near that yet!” His face fell comically fast.
Just then, Ellen and Alex emerged from upstairs.  “Well, I got her all patched up, and she’s graciously decided to socialize with the rest of her family,” Ellen said as they came into the kitchen.
“Well, I wouldn’t say I decided so much as she’s making me,” Alex grumped.  Ellen smacked the back of her head. “Ow!”
“Hey, it’s not like we’re asking you help with cooking in any way.  Just keep us company. It’s not like you see me or your sister every day,” Ellen scolded her.
“Yeah, please don’t help us cook,” Claire teased as she tossed her apples into the skillet.  She then turned to her grandmother. “Before you ask, yes, I told him.”
Ellen turned to Dean, “And you’ll be on your best behavior and give this boy a chance, right, son?”
“Yeah, Mom.  He sounds like a good kid,” Dean said.
“Hey, he really is a good kid.  Even your pop likes him, despite his weird hair.”  Ellen said.
“Well, if Dad likes him, then I guess he must be ok.”  Dean agreed. Bobby Singer pretty much hated everyone who wasn’t family, and sometimes he didn’t like them much either.
They didn’t have a chance to discuss it further, because just then the front door swung open and the rest of the family came piling in.  Gabriel and Jessica were already arguing over who cooked what better, Cas and Kali were having a heated discussion about politics, and Sam was telling Jack something no one but them could hear, Jack hanging on his favorite uncle’s every word.
The Winchester-Novak-Harvelle-Singer Thanksgiving was certainly going to be interesting this year.  But there was at least one thing Claire could definitely count on: Every single one of her apple pies would be devoured before the end of the day.  The rest, as usual, would be a toss-up with her large and unpredictable family.
Poor Kevin.

Plus they had an incredible effect on culture, notably helping facilitate the change that came from youth for the first time having enough money to buy what they wanted, not what they got from older people. Chapter 16: Rules
One of the reasons I liked Ari so much was that though we differed in opinion about many things (like which are the best comics) and though we had what might seem from the outside as diametrically opposed outlooks on life (his was much darker than mine; in fact he once claimed that brooding was healthy because it was good exercise for his eyebrows) and though he enjoyed yanking my chain about a lot of things, when it came down to it he made me laugh more than just about any other person on the planet. We were like seatbelts: we just clicked. He might not have thought so himself, but he had a big imagination and was very thoughtful and philosophical and funny and sensitive and kind. There was also a sadness in him that he tried to hide from me, but I could see it in his eyes sometimes. We never talked about it, though. He was better at not talking about things than I was.
In truth, I liked it when he argued with me (though argue isn’t really the right word, since we never got angry at each other; debate would be more accurate). And I especially liked when I was able to win him over. I’d been on Debate and Speech teams since middle school so he must have known that he never stood a chance when I got into that point-counterpoint mode but he never got cranky with me. (Or if he did, I knew it was all for show).
One area where he eventually came around to my way of thinking was my thing about liking rules. I have a general respect for rules and discipline and technique. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a pro-fascist or anything like that and I like the idea of chaos and nihilism just as much as the next teenager longing for independence. And I also know that breaking the rules is fun, too, and often a necessity in creating art and living the life you want to live. But I can see why rules are useful, too, especially if they grant you freedom within structure. I think your brain starts working differently if you’re trying to compose a sonnet in iambic pentameter vs if you’re writing a stream of consciousness journal entry. Neither is better or worse, but rules can be part of the fun and the challenge.
My thing with liking to cuss, for example. I liked cussing but knew that I wouldn’t relish it quite as much if my parents allowed me to throw around f-bombs any old effing time I felt like it. Or my thing about not liking to wear shoes. Who was the puritanical jerk who decided that it’s a Western societal norm that everyone has to wear shoes everywhere they go, anyway? If I want to take my shoes off outside or on the bus or in church or in the movie theater and I’m not hurting or offending anyone by letting my toes feel the wind and sun and air, why should I keep my shoes on when they cause me nothing but torture and discomfort? When did taking off your shoes in public become as bad as breaking one of the Ten Commandments? And it’s a good general life rule to follow in Jesus’ footsteps, right? I just choose a literal interpretation of that since he didn’t wear shoes either.
But where things like games were concerned, I liked rules. I thought of rules as being like a container or a cup for water (in this metaphor water=fun and freedom). Without the container, what do you get? Just liquid spilled all over the front of your shirt.
I liked coming up with new games for us, with the caveat that we played by the self-established rules. The first game we made up together was the shoe toss game (or as I named it: Urban Javelshoe). It started out simply because I felt like throwing my shoes around (because shoes are a nuisance and may as well be walloped for all the good they serve). At first he griped at me because I wanted to measure with chalk exactly how far each of us could throw our shoes on the street. He said it took away the fun, which to him was the act of throwing. I argued that the fun was not just the throwing, but the whole system we created together: deciding how many tosses we made per set, using chalk and a tape measure to record each of our throws, deciding how many sets qualified for a win. Just throwing shoes around for no reason? Plebian. This was much more interesting and systematic and fun. He came around, eventually. And though I won the game, he ended up having the longest recorded toss, which I could tell he was secretly pleased about.
Here are some of the other games we made up that summer:
Tap-Out. One of us would tap or punch out the beat to a song on the other person’s arm and the other would try and guess the song just based on the rhythm. We’d decide on the genre (such as Top 40 or The Beatles) and if the person didn’t guess right after three tap-outs then the tapper could hum the rhythm once (with no varied notes, just the rhythm on one straight note). After five rounds, the winner got to choose which music we listened to all afternoon.
Lava Ground. We’d play this in the yard or up in my room. You’d have to leap from place to place and land on furniture, cushions, pillows, clothes, shoes or basically whatever you could maneuver to land on as long as you didn’t touch the ground (because it was made of lava). If your bare skin touched the ground you had to act out a horrific death. The loser also had to clean up everything that we ended up spreading out on the floor or grass.
Passenger Palaver. We’d come up with stories about our fellow passengers during our afternoon bus rides. At first there were no rules but then I decided that one of us should make up a line or phrase for the story and the person telling the story would have to somehow include that phrase. Or sometimes we’d trade off after each line, making up the story together as we went along.
The Superhero Origin Generator. We’d go around my house and each of us would pick out two objects (such as a rolling pin and toothbrush). The other person would then have to make up how those two objects led to the creation of a superhero’s powers. For example: Mikey’s mother is a baker. One day her collection of rolling pins falls on her head and she tragically dies before young Mikey’s very own eyes. He grows up hating anything sweet. He despises cakes and donuts and cookies because they remind him of his dead mom. As a result, he becomes obsessed with brushing his teeth and never has a single cavity. But one day he has a mysterious tooth ache so he goes to a dentist’s check up. He doesn’t know that this dentist is in fact evil and while he’s in the dentist’s chair getting his teeth X-rayed, the evil dentist Dr. X turns up the machine to unprecedented levels. Mikey’s teeth become radioactive blasters. After that, every time he smiles, it unleashes a ray of toxic light more powerful than the sun. From that day forward he becomes: Gamma Tooth Man. If something we came up was particularly good we might make our own comic about it. Ari wasn’t much of an artist, so I’d draw and he’d come up with action, dialogue and concept. We made a good team.
Telenovela Lipread. We’d put a soap opera on silent and make up our own lines of dialogue. The only rule was that each character needed its own distinct voice or accent. Ari was surprisingly good at playing naïve love struck heroines (ironically, of course).
One day, after I’d just finished reading all of The Lord of the Rings books, I got the idea that Ari and I should make up our own language, like Elvish.
When I told Ari about my idea, he snorted and said, “So you’d rather make up an entirely new language than learn Spanish? You really hate Spanish that much?”
“If we had our own language we could write each other notes and letters and be the only ones who understand them. If they’re in Spanish our parents could snoop.”
“If you wanted to write in secret you could just make up a code, not a whole new language. That seems like a lot of work.”
“If Tolkien could do it how hard can it actually be?”
“How the hell do you go about making up a new language anyway?”
“I’m not sure. We might have to do some research.”
“Research? During the summer? For no other reason than you think it would be cool to undertake the massively insane project of inventing a new language?”
“Yeah. We’d be be like C-3PO when R2-D2 beeps and no one else knows what he’s saying.”
“Yes, but they’re talking in droidspeak. It’s probably just randomly generated gobbledygook.”
“Or maybe it’s as poetic as Shakespeare. But we’ll never know. Don’t you want to know what it’s like to speak a language only one other person on the planet understands?”
“It sounds exclusionary. I’m a man of the people.”
“You’re a man of the lazy. Come on, let’s go to the library so I can search the card catalogue about books on linguistics.”
So we went to the library. I love the library. I love the card catalogue. It makes finding the perfect book like going on a treasure hunt. While I was talking to the librarian, Ari wandered away from the desk and told me he was going to look around. No card catalogue for him, he was a browser.
It took awhile but I eventually located some potentially useful book on linguistics and went looking for Ari. I looked in every section I thought he would be, but he had vanished; I even looked in the bathroom and outside on the street. I went up to the 2nd floor and he wasn’t there. I looked on the 1st floor again. Nothing. I was starting to get worried. I went down to the ground floor level and that’s when I finally spotted him. He was sitting at the microfilm reader of all things. I went up to him to see what he was looking at.
“Hey,” I said.
He jumped. I guess I’d startled him.
“What are you looking at?”
“Nothing. Just old newspapers and stuff. I didn’t realize they had all these old articles on microfilm down here. The librarian just told me about it.”
“Anything in particular you’re looking at?”
“No, just browsing.”
“Just browsing El Paso Times articles from ten years ago for fun? And you call me the weird one?”
“Whatever. I thought it might be cool. Like a time machine or something. Are you done? We can leave.”
He pulled the film he was looking at out of the reader and returned it. I also saw that he had a book with him.
“What’s that book? You going to check it out?”
“It’s nothing. Just about the Vietnam War. I was just flipping through it while I waited for you.”
He put the book back on a return cart and we left. On the way home he didn’t talk much and I could tell something was bothering him. But he didn’t tell me what it was and I didn’t press him on it, even though I really wanted to. Like I said, he was better at not talking about things than I was. I thought maybe if we had our own secret language made up already he’d want to talk to me, but I knew that was wishful thinking. We’d only been friends for about a month, but I’d already guessed what most of his rules were.

Tagged by @bangtan-chats-and-memes Thanks for tagging me! I love doing these
Rules: Complete the survey and tag five people when you are finished
1. Are you named after someone? Nope. I think one of my aunts helped choose my name though.
2. When was the last time you cried? I remember the date and time too. It was May 20th around 11pm. I wanted to go to six flags with my siblings but my sister told me that she didn’t want to go just before I was going to purchase the tickets, and going to six flags wouldn’t be as fun if it was just my brother and I so we ended up not going. I really love rollercoasters, and yes so much to the point that I cried.
3. Do you like your handwriting?
Actually, I do! I’m often told my handwriting looks like it was typed or I could have my own font.
4. What is your favorite lunch meat? I love bacon. I like to cook it up and just chew on it while I watch something. But I really don’t eat bacon very often.
5. If you were another person, would you be friends with you? Yeah, I think I would. I’d like to believe that I’m nice and friendly enough to get along with myself.
6. Do you use sarcasm? Definitely do. More with some than others cause I don’t wanna hurt feelings of specific people.
7. Do you still have your tonsils? Yep! It’s right where it’s supposed to be.
8. Would you bungee jump? I’ve been wanting to go bungee jumping for the longest time. I love just thinking about the adrenaline rush it would give me.
9. What is your favorite kind of cereal? I don’t eat cereal very often either, but I like the sweet ones like Reese’s Puffs, Froot Loops, Trix, etc.
10. Do you untie your shoes when you take them off?
Nope, I tie my laces just loose enough so I can easily slip my foot in and out of my shoe.
11. Do you think you’re a strong person? Physically, no. I have flabby spaghetti arms. Mentally, kind of but not really. I can take criticism and apply it to my life but it does upset me.
12. What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Cookie’s n’ cream or Oreo. I like the sweet stuff even though most ice cream is sweet, these are the perfect sweetness.
13. What is the first thing you notice about people? Probably their eyes or their smile. I think someone’s eyes can tell a lot about a person. And I think I tend to base how much someone likes me on how many times they smile around me.
14. Red or pink? I like pink more. Especially the pastel pinks. I just like soft colors more.
15. What is the least favorite physical thing you like about yourself? I really don’t like my height. I’m short and I’m not very fit so I look really stubby.
16. What color pants and shoes are you wearing now? I’m comfortably answering these questions in my living room so I’m wearing black shorts and no shoes.
17. What is the last thing you ate? It’s currently 12:30 pm and I haven’t eaten breakfast or lunch yet so the last thing I ate was last nights dinner which was homemade char sui and vegetables with white rice.
18. What are you listening to right now? I’m listening to the sound of the kitchen sink running as my sister cleans up her mess from making cupcakes. And also my loud laptop cooler.
19. If you were a crayon, what color would you be? I would be tumbleweed. I chose that just because of the name of it. It’s because I make everything awkward so I can imagine tumbleweeds casually tumbling by when I tell a bad joke.
20. Favorite smell? I love the smell of clean laundry or just that fresh smell if that makes sense.
21. Who was the last person you spoke to on the phone? My lovely mother. She’s basically the only person I call anyway. Everyone else just texts me.
22. Favorite sport to watch? I like watching volleyball. I enjoy it much more than basketball or football because I like playing volleyball myself and because I won’t get hated on just because of which teams I chose to cheer for.
23. Hair color? Just plain ol’ black. I really wanna dye my hair though.
24. Eye color? Simple dark brown eyes. I’m jealous of people that have colored eyes.
25. Do you wear contacts? Nope, I wear glasses. I want contacts but my mom is afraid it’ll roll into the back of my head.
26. Favorite food to eat? I absolutely love sushi! It’s so good!!!
27. Scary movies or comedy? I’m a huge scaredy cat so no scary movies for me. But I do love to laugh so I would choose comedy over scary movies any day.
28. Last movie you watched? I think the last movie I watched was Boss Baby, it’s so cute and funny.
29. What color of shirt are you wearing? I’m currently wearing a purple t-shirt
30. Summer or winter? Winter. But only because I hate summer. Basically everyone I know knows that I’m like a heater so I am also complaining about being hot. 60 degree weather is already too hot. I even sweat in the winter because the jackets I have to wear make me too warm!
31. Hugs or kisses? I’ve only gotten hugs from my friends but they all know I hate hugs because I don’t like being too close to people. Though I will go hug someone if they give me food or something. However, I’ve always wanted to have someone I like backhug me ;)
32. What book are you currently reading? As if right now, I’m reading webtoons but not any actual books. I’m reading Kubera and Tower of God. They’re both so good so if you want to read something, I recommend those two.
33. Who do you miss right now? I have no one to miss. Though I would like to see my best friend right now.
34. What is on your mouse pad? I don’t use a mouse pad.
35. What is the last TV program you watched? Something with Gordon Ramsay. I love watching him yell at people.
36. What is the best sound? Silence. My favorite sound is when I wake up and no one is home so it’s nice and quiet.
37. Rolling Stones or The Beatles? Neither? I have only listened to The Beatles a few times in my life but I only vaguely remember an octopus song by them.
38. What is the furthest you have ever traveled? From America to China. That’s basically all I’ve ever traveled. For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to go to Japan.
39. Do you have a special talent? Um. I’m quite useless and boring as a person. The thing I do best is sleep. Like I sleep a lot.
40. Where were you born? I was born in New York City in the summer.
Now that I’m done I’ll tag @marvelbtr13 @btskookiefangirl @cosyjimin @albareliz @kateheartskpop

Tagged by @genufa who gets me and my desire to not be as productive as I could be.
feel free to tag yourself in my name if you want to do this. I liked this one.
1. Are you named after someone? The main character of a novel my mother never wrote, age 16
2. When was the last time you cried? I cried like 3 times during Logan (go see logan)
3. Do you like your handwriting? I like it fine but it isn’t pretty and I hate physically writing.
4. What is your favorite lunch meat? Pepperoni
5. Do you have kids? Nope
6. If you were another person, would you be friends with you? HMM. I feel like the direction of this question is ‘Are you so hard to deal with you wouldn’t want to deal with yourself’ but unless I know who the other person I am becoming is, it’s a hard question to answer. If I had a copy of myself I think we would probably enjoy talking to each other about fandom sometimes but not much else. If I were a different person I might have needs that I can’t provide myself anymore because I wouldn’t be me, in which case the person who is now me might be very useful in my life??
I don’t think my personality is defective ENOUGH that there is a clearcut answer of ‘lol no cuz they’d be a bitch’.
7. Do you use sarcasm? N..o...? Which is weird to realize because I definitely went through the Sarcastic Teenager phase where everyone in the 90s was as obsessed with teens being sarcastic as they are now fixated on millennials being ironic. But nah, somehow that habit pretty much disappeared as far as I can tell.
8. Do you still have your tonsils? Yes.
9. Would you bungee jump? Probably!
10. What is your favorite kind of cereal? Rotates between all berry captain crunch, frosted flakes, and some keshi (kashi??) grain stuff. I go thru a cereal phase like once every 4 months and i eat it for dinner or as a snack tho. Got no time for breakfast.
11. Do you untie your shoes when you take them off? I can’t own shoes that require you to lace them. Can’t be trusted with that much effort in the morning.
12. Do you think you’re a strong person? Ehn, in some ways, sure. My luck stat is real fuckin high tho.
13. What is your favorite ice cream? I like gelato in general and fruity gelatos in particular. Mango, orange, and lemon are probably my peak flavors. Tho I made a killer pink pepper corn icecream last thanksgiving and I should do it again.
14. What is the first thing you notice about people? Usually that they have bothered me, haha. I am REAL FUCKING IN MY OWN HEAD so I tend to completely filter people out unless they deliberately make me notice them. In a situation where I’m not ignoring most of humanity, uh,all of this realizing I’m white stuff and that racism exists has, ironically, made me hyper aware of race. Also ‘oh shit, did we make eye contact? shit!’. What I’m saying is there is a reason my cubicle is in the furthest corner of the office and I never leave.
15. What is the least favorite physical thing you like about yourself? Having a vagina and all of it’s connecting organs.
16. What color pants and shoes are you wearing now? I’M REAL MAD IM DOING THIS ON A MONDAY WHEN I WAS TOO LAZY TO CLOTH MYSELF IN THE USUAL WAY because right now my answer is dark blue jeans, purple grey-striped socks, and my comfortable flat sandals that kind of have this shiny snakeskin thing going on (YEA i wear socks with sandals COME AT ME). NORMALLY the answer would be some highly saturated tights and heeled boots or wedge sandals but friend I didn’t fall asleep until 3am.
17. What are you listening to right now? This 8tracks: https://8tracks.com/outofbread/don-t-even-trip-dawg
Which, Im gonna be honest, does nothing for me as Rick and Morty playlist but I really enjoy the collection of songs so I keep listening to it anyway.
19. Favorite smell? Fruit or woody stuff.
20. Who was the last person you spoke to on the phone? Some lady for my job who likes to respond to emails by asking for a phone call so you can tell her what you wrote in the email.
21. Favorite sport to watch? WWE, which I haven’t actually watched in almost 15 years but it’s still the only sport where I got excited about watching a sport.
22. Hair color? Washed out blue and a desaturated purple-pink. Need to touch it up soon.
23. Eye color? Blue.
24. Do you wear contacts? I got some plano circle contacts so i can change my eye color, but i’ve only worn them a couple of times. I like how I look in glasses and probably wont’ got prescription for a while.
25. Favorite food to eat? This rotates... a lot... I should maybe say mongolian hot pot just because we successfully went there every week for almost two years without me getting sick of it. Macaroons. Pizza.
26. Scary movies or comedy? Something... interesting... I don’t care enough about movies to have a preferred genre. Even if I did neither comedy nor scary movies would make the top five.
27. Last movie you watched? Logan (GO SEE LOGAN)
28. What color of shirt are you wearing? Teal and white with a pattern i don’t know how to describe.
29. Summer or winter? Summer.

34. What is the last TV program you watched? Uuuuh fuck. I think Mighty Morphin Power Ranges, original run, haha. we were gearing up for the movie but somehow still haven’t seen the movie. Unless we are counting anime I watched online, in which case Mob Psycho 100.
35. What is the best sound? Monsoon thunderstorms.
36. Rolling Stones or The Beatles? I have no particular opinion on either of these but my mom loves(d?) the Beatles so I’ll go with that. She’s earned it.
