I watch as she takes another puff of her golden pipe, the sickeningly sweet smoke that fills the room making it hard to breath. "So... Boy" her voice is hazy, almost as though it's being carried by the smoke that comes out with it. "What idiotic ambition has dragged you to this heretic's door" The Crone shifts in her seat before waving her hand towards the many figures standing along the walls of the chamber. Her attendants- flowers covering the hollow holes where their faces should be- begin fussing over her. one brings her another pillow, another comes with a tray of tea, and one... has a Betrothal ring. the ring I forged. "Well?" The lump in my throat weighs heavier than the sword on my belt, the faceless servant has her hair. her clothes. I try to clutch the symbol of his holiness hanging from my neck, but I... cant. I don't want to.

I don't want anything.

Magic, and the concept of Focus:

In the world of Bol'Dolor, there is no concept nor existence of some mystical energy/force like mana or magicka.

Rather, the harnessing of magic requires Focus in the most literal sense. It is of the mind and soul.

Magic itself is a thing of unbeing. It is not a physical essence, ergo it is from the void.

So a mystic has to focus their mind to pull FROM the void itself, to change and manifest this power into the material world.

But it isn't just as simple as having mental discipline. It depends on the individual, and their own mental/emotional makeup.

WHAT you focus on, can be just as important as your ability to channel the focus itself.

This means that if you are able to harness specific emotions, then your ability to use magic will be easier or harder, when these emotions are greater or lesser within your mind at the time.

Someone who is more innately sympathetic/empathetic/compassionate, are able to use these feelings of positive care, for the sake of channelling magic to suit their needs, or the needs of others

Likewise, someone who carries deep anger or trauma, is capable of harnessing their hatred or fear, as an INCREDIBLY potent channelling agent.

So if someone specializes in harnessing their own pain and anger for magic, they are less powerful, than if they are in a state of peace. Similarly, someone who requires a tranquil mind, can be rendered almost powerless, if their stability is disrupted.

Just realized when belos agreed to let luz be his guide in the human realm he was just going to leave the boiling isles to die anyway bc he knew he couldnt stop the spell. What, was he just going to grab luz and take her to the human realm before everyone dies and snap his fingers and be like "ya theyre fine now i stopped the spell" to keep her cooperative? These are some building designs of regular houses in the town of Gorgori. Gorgori depends on its havens and has a lot of merchants and travellers coming in to sell stuff from far away lands. There are many inns and taverns because of this, and it makes the town feel very lively!

The Nameless God, the Aspect of Dreams and Identity. Its goals and machinations are esoteric and strange, seemingly as senseless as the dreams it presides over. Its closest servant is Ensi, a small white Owl manifested from a dream of deep love towards a pet. Ensi helps the waking world merge with the Dreaming, teaching disciples of the Nameless the abstract art of manifesting their subconscious in reality. Ensi also occasionally marks especially interesting people for his Master, dooming them to become a part of its collection of faces.

Helena "Flint" Blumhardt

A member of the Kelori - a human-cichycien hybrid race best described as "Dwarves without testosterone poisoning"

Ill-tempered and boorish to a fault, she carries the might of someone twice her size, in a 4'2" nugget of a body.

Formerly a mercenary, Flint took to exploration and treasure hunting, after spending some time with a welcoming tribe of cichycien, having desired to learn some of her more lesser-understood heritage.

Around 250 years old, she is technically middle aged by Kelori standards (most not living past 500), though retains the same sort of energy and healthful vigor she has had since youth.

Because of her diminutive stature AND "lesser" age, she is often infantilized by humans and cichycien alike, which irritates her to no end.

Though she holds a bigger irritation in her heart, for herself. She has a serious fear of commitment, intimacy, and rejection; she fears being hurt in a way that she can't fight her way out of. But more than anything, she wants to be able to feel safe and content.

Furthermore, Flint believes herself to be a subpar cook, by means of her frame of reference - her family is made up of VERY stellar cooks, though more by passion than trade. Seen so, she fails to understand that she is not a bad cook, but is merely the worst of the best...
