Izuku Midoriya is barely seventeen when he concludes that not all men are created equal.
He was four when he noticed that. When everyone got their quirks and he didn't (hearing tiny explosions come from Kacchan's palms). When he started getting cast out for not being special.
He was fourteen when he realized that. When Kacchan pushed him away completely (everything they had), nearly erasing their history for not being gifted.
But he only concludes that when he's on the battlefield. He's got seven quirks (He was gifted beyond knowledge). He's the one that can end this war for good.
And he turns around and looks at Katsuki Bakugou's (Kacchan's) body on the ground, blood gushing out of several deep wounds. He's not moving (Eyes open, unfocused.) Not breathing. Not alive.
Not all men are created equal. But death -- it is equal.
But it is not fair.

Bnha 362 thoughts:
It honestly doesn't make sense narratively for him to be *dead* dead
in one aspect alone, let's consider;
Bakugou's entire arc? is FROUGHT with loss. Losing. Failure. He has gone through life thinking ONE thing, and then getting proven WRONG every step of the way.
He gets captured by Sludge villain.
He loses to Izuku on the first training day in UA.
He gets DESTROYED by All Might and is forced to work with Izuku during their finals.
He gets rescued(in front of Izuku no less) by All Might at the USJ incident.
He gets targeted and kidnapped at the training camp. Gets used as a pawn during AFO's fight with AM, rescued by his friends(including Izuku who had come up with the plan.) All Might loses his power due to this incident, and Katsuki internalizes it.
He feels neutered under his internship with BJ, and feels like he falls behind while others had so much more exp on their internships.
He FAILS his provisional liscense exams.
He realizes that All Might gave Izuku his power and feels unworthy.
He wins against Izuku at ground Beta, and after that, things look a little more "in his favor", like the 1-Av 1-B exercise, getting his Provisional License...but then the war happens and he is back to "losing" by getting stabbed (I count it as a loss b/c it was a potentially fatal injury and he wasn't able to triumph over it properly)
The next big battle is THIS ONE and. Well. We all know what has been happening, and what has HAPPENED.
Katsuki has now, on top of his long history of losing, failing, and having every one of his principles he started with challenged and shut down, after finally UNDERSTANDING IT and making choices to be better, including making up with Izuku himself, faced the ULTIMATE loss, and DIED in battle.
The end.
EXCEPT NO. THAT CAN'T BE IT. it can't be a final death, it doesn't make SENSE.
I mean, it's not even a NOBLE death. If Horikoshi wanted to go "Noble Death" with it, he would have done so when Katsuki got skewered making the sacrificial play. But he can't do that again, because he already did that move!
Izuku isn't even there to see it.
So this isn't that.
And Bakugou, whatever he started as, has become an essential part of this story, a deuteragonist instead of an antagonist. His story is intricately tied to Izuku's, and we all SEE that plainly in the canon, and how deeply important to each other they are. Horikoshi himself said something about coming to really like him as a character.
What the heck would be the point in killing him off so unceremoniously?
Before Katsuki actually has a chance to truly win(and save)?
Katsuki's arc STILL doesn't feel complete.
And it's as if the Antis are getting what THEY want, and his arc is ALL punishment for what he's done, instead of truly rising above it(he's come quite a long way, but to truly triumph he should be able to make all the changes he has, acknowledge the damage he's done, and then truly begin to flourish.
But he's still taking the L and getting brutalized by AFO.
He literally STILL asked, as he is DYING, "Can I keep up with you Izuku?"
He has barely landed a hit on AFO in all this and in his "final" moments thinks about Izuku and how he WANTS to keep up with him.
This is horribly incomplete.
So unless we SOMEHOW get a vestige or ghost of Katsuki performing final acts in this war that turn the tides, but don't get him back, which would suck...
Then my bets are on SOME WAY getting him back via resuscitation, or the Nitroglycerin Revival theory, something to do with the Second's Quirk, bringing him back.
We could argue then about the effect that has on stakes, or if that would be just a deus ex machina ending, but
Bottom line is that I feel like leaving such an important character, such a POPULAR character as *dead* dead, without at least having a true victory moment to close out his own story....LET ALONE one shared with the protagonist whom he has been codependently developed alongside the entire time...without at least making a single difference in the final battle, doesn't make narrative sense. When Hori said he wants to do right by this character, and that what he came up with should be pleasing to all fans.
SOMETHING IS STILL MISSING in Katsuki's entire arc and I don't know, personally, I don't think he'll stay dead?? I'm not sure how I want it to happen, but...
There's been so much build up, there are talks that haven't even occurred between them to our knowledge. There's LOOSE ENDS. There's a lack of fulfillment to Katsuki's story if you take this as the end.
Yes, his challenge through the story was to learn to SAVE and that will be important, but he hasn't even reached the climax on THAT yet, and I don't consider what happened in the war arc and retrieval arc to be that end-all be-all climax.
This can't be the end of Katsuki Bakugou. (and I'm hoping its not just gonna be some Jedi Ghost shenanigans)

- wakes up in the grave and goes back to working
- finds a flower forrest and decides to make his base there
- starts cutting down trees and clearing out the general area
- we hear a bit about how before he died he was the flower prince, hence the flower crown on his head
- gets a new 'friend' it's a pillager
- he wants to do something with his base with like layers of glass. To give it specific effect like a fading effect and misty. so he's mining out the dirt there
- he's forgotten who au!Scott is so they meet again. And au!Scott is now helping with the digging
- not really important but kinda? But they go to town and they see the enchanting table has been stole
- au!Scott mention a little casual lore about the underworld, and how they're moving on from the old ways and want to peacefully move souls. And says maybe his brother is worried about him being there is because au!Aimsey is still using the old ways, lying.

- So overall au!Owen is building his new house. He's building a tunnel take to get to his world. Trying to open a rift in space and time so people are able to visit the ghost realm as ghost people together.
- he also gets overstimulated as a ghost so the area is a nice peaceful and quiet void for him

that's bc katsuki is cocky and charismatic already. he would hear this and laugh a little. lean on the frame of your door with his head cocked and a soft smile on his lips and you'd barely see his teeth. all fired up but also quite smug because that's what they all say at first. you know you're not the first person to tell him something like this.
it's part of being in the wonderduo - people like challenging him because of his temper and they think he's gonna blow up at em!! but he never does bc he's self-assured. i think he'd probably just laugh at you if u said this. it would not bug him at all

Mission: Save Kacchan, start! ft. Horikoshi’s message
Saving Kacchan is on the table
So now clear objectives have been outlined for us. Kacchan’s life needs saving. The heroes are going to fix his heart and attempt a revival. And Shigaraki tells them it’s futile. His goal is for Kacchan to stay dead to traumatise Izuku into having another meltdown.
The heroes have been losing thus far, even the Americans want to politically make nice with sAFO because he’s so unstoppable. Mirko is already ripped apart and telling her to do whatever it takes to stall Shigaraki does make it clear that the heroes desperately need help, which I think will come in the form of Izuku. But he will need to control his heart and be able to fend off sAFO if he wants them to revive Kacchan!
This is his first real test of doing so because the one thats lying there is his Kacchan who has been completely defiled by sAFO and he’s never been able to keep calm with situations of a hurting Kacchan. This is going to mess with his head badly, but I have faith he will get through it.
Winning against sAFO to Save
Izuku’s most important objective now is saving Kacchan’s life… there is nothing more vital than this that he would give his everything for and Shigaraki is the “biggest obstacle” of his goal. “Saving and destroying born out of ego” We are now getting the final fated encounter between Deku and Shigaraki. Kacchan’s revival hinges on stopping Shigaraki.
This next line: “Whose ego will win” might be referring to Tenko vs Tomura/AFO, NOT Izuku vs sAFO, so if Tenko is saved thus defeating his AFO controlled ego (uncannily similar to Katsuki’s name meaning - winning against oneself… poetic), then Kacchan, the symbol of victory, can also be saved and Izuku will win.
Saving Kacchan to Win
I never once stopped believing that Kacchan will be there also screaming Die!!! All For One!!! They will both scream it at the end, I’m sure of this…
We also now have much needed hope that Kacchan’s spark won’t disappear.💥
He will be back for the best wonderduo fight of his life! This is why he had a quirk awakening and we saw him scare the crap out of AFO and remind him of 2nd user. It meant that he can keep up with Izuku now, which means he’s also fast enough to be the one who takes his hand and this is exactly what 2nd meant by Izuku being bolstered by those who can run by his side ❤️

“Kacchan!” Izuku gasped, fumbling over him, words spilling over Katsuki like sheets of rain—too much and all at once, “What happened? Are you okay?” and as Katsuki felt the inviting tug of sleep pull at him once more, he realized he wasn’t going to get a lot of time to say much of anything to quell Izuku’s panic before settling completely underneath the dark current of unconsciousness.
“Quirk…” he managed, the letters slurring together in his mouth, his heartbeat coming slow and steady in his ears. The rhythm was comforting, like a lullaby softly coaxing him to sleep, and he felt his eyelids drooping again just as he forced out, “M’tired, ‘Zuku.”

Katsuki gets hit with a sleep quirk that puts him out of commission for a few days. Izuku relives his guilt over being too late to save him. Both of them have to deal with memories from the past.
