I’m going to let this run for a whole week in hopes of letting it reach the highest number of people! I was reminded of this show and realized there’s very little out there about it? Next to nothing on tumblr, but the Wikipedia article is very sparse. There are episodes posted to YouTube, but no discussion. (granted discussion on YouTube is also fairly minimal for BitBBH, but DefunctTV has done episodes for both Bear and The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss)

The most interesting thing I uncovered was that Wimzie’s House got in legal trouble with the Henson company due to similarities to the Muppets— the lawsuit was settled confidentially and Wimzie’s House was allowed to continue airing/selling merchandise

I just learned that Cinderella Monogatari's Prince Charles, one of the most underrated and (no pun intended) charming of all versions of Cinderella's prince...

... was voiced in the English dub by Thor Bishopric, who also voiced a character I remember from my '90s childhood:

Even funnier is the fact that in one episode of Wimzie's House, the characters put on a play of Cinderella, and Jonas wants to play the prince but ends up being cast as the stepmother instead. Since Wimzie's House premiered a year after Cinderella Monogatari, I suppose that might have been a little in-joke.

Ok so many of my IRL friends either never heard of or watched a lot of the shit I grew up watching, so I'm curious...

what sort of stuff do you do when you're tiny? what kinds of shows do you watch n stuff?

Oh!! When I'm tiny I love to be outdoors ;w; like, I'll walk to the park (I'm v close to one) or the forest and just go for nature walks! Pick out some sticks, pretend I'm a cool wizard or explorer of a magic forest! Find some moss and sit down and just watch the birdies singing and the bugs while playing with rocks n' stuff I've found♡♡ Very much a nature tyke!!

When it's a not good day to be outside, tiny me loves just playing with blocks and watching shows from the early 2000s (Ruby Gloom, Mona the Vampire, Wee 3, Wimzie House, The Doodlebops, etc!♡♡) with my plushies💕

Also currently, the Encanto soundtrack is playing the whole time because,,,,loev that movie ;w;

reminiscing time!. When i was around 8 or so i found happy tree friends on YT. and it became like my favorite ever. and i watch it now and i wanna vomit i cant comprehend how littol me was into that. also i used to watch invader zim obsessively and i got older and thought it was a fever dream i made up and then i found out it was actually real. sometimes while playing minecraft or in the car id loop minecraft song parodies and me and my brother would sing them at the top of our lungs. my mom hoards VHS tapes and CDs and stuff and as a kid me and my brother would ask her to put on this one vhs of wimzie’s house she had over and over again and it was my brother’s favorite show.hed only ever experienced one episode. the first time i ever watched the goofy movie was on a box tv on vhs in my basement and the TV was turned sideways for some reason. i ended up laying down halfway through to watch it appropriately. i very vividly remember watching sesame street on a different box tv when i was like 5 in the room i shared with my brother. it was on vhs. and the tv was upside down? And i dont knopw why. me and my brother used to use all my moms vhs’ and build like towers and stuff. she colleted a bunch of og she-ra stuff but unfortunately we cant bond over old she ra and new she ra because she doesnt like the new she ra and i dont like the old she ra. on road trips we had a dvd player and we cycled through a lot of the same dvds. one of them was a he-man christmas special and i fucking hated that that one i thought he man was so boring so much so that id just fall asleep when she put that one on. there was also a mickey mouse christmas special one and i really liked that one. we also had rainbow bright (family favorite) and a BUNCH of strawberry shortcake im talking we had like 3 dvds with shorts/episodes and movies from the og strawberry shortcake and we also had a bunch from the cartoon one that was in 2d. a lot of them got scratched to shit and so we’d be sitting there and the dvd would die for 6 seconds straight and then itd come back and we’d all cheer. it was like a movie theater but if the person behind you wouldnt stop pulling your hair and throwing mcdonalds toys into the windshield

Oh, so sorry, I don't have any, personally! On TubiTV, there's currently 20 free episodes, and all other platforms like Vudu, Google Play and YouTube Movies & TV have the full series for purchase. (Correction: YouTube Movies & TV has only about 56 episodes.) Honestly, even if I purchased the stuff and ripped it, I don't think I could get away with putting those specific rips on YouTube, since it's ON SALE on YouTube-- I'm sure the content ID would be pretty oppressive. But yes, the good news is that it's available at all! Many other edutainment shows are not nearly as lucky. All the bestest!

Sorry I haven’t been as active lately!! I try to check the tags and reblog new content, but work has been consistently exhausting so original content/general internet sleuthing has been pretty nonexistent 😓

(unfortunately, this has been true for pretty much all my blogs, not just here— ouch)

That poll I posted recently about Wimzie’s House got me thinking, though! It’s unironically one of my favorite puppet shows from childhood but like I said on the poll— there’s pretty much nothing out there about it. not even half of the episodes are available on tubi, there’s some episodes on YouTube and an extremely sparse Wikipedia article. that’s it!!

I know it diverts from the main topic of this blog (and that the first poll is still running lol), but:

Wimzie’s House (1995-1996)

“Wimzie is a little girl monster who lives with her parents (Rousso & Graziella), grandma (Yaya), and baby brother (Bo). The basic plot was that Wimzie's friends would always come over for the day and they would play together. This usually resulted in a problem that would eventually lead to the moral of the episode.“

Personality: Passionate, Kind, Caring, Nurturing, Fierce, Honest, Patient, Introvert, literal honey badger, pretty quiet but don’t fuck with her or her friends, wants to beat the tar out of Draco

Favorite subjects: Care for Magical Creatures, Herbology, & Potions

Flaws: She’s a little TOO honest and/or blunt sometimes. She can be pretty hotheaded when provoked. She’s great at brewing potions but it takes a few tries for get some potions right. She’s horrible at Arithmancy.

Bullies?: Other pure bloods torment her for being a blood traitor, for being disowned, or for being poor. Once someone snatched Thistle off her shoulder and teased they were gonna kill her. Hazel was so upset that the knockback jinx she cast gave the bully a concussion. Professor Sprout had to pretend to give her a punishment that would please the victim’s parents. But really Sprout just talked to her about being more careful and Hazel helped her harvest and replant things. This is what the parents thought to be punishment but Hazel loves Herbology and isn’t afraid to roll around in the mud.

Back Story: Hazel was a pure blood child born to pure blood parents of the Rosier family(non canon characters of course but they would most likely be cousins with any existing canon Rosiers) Now you would think she would most likely end up like Draco. But her parents never took the time to set her down that path. In fact, they hardly gave her any time at all because they were always busy with something. They were the type that wanted a child but not the responsibility. They got a house elf, Wimzy, ( her name courtesy of Mod Angel @undertale-imagine-that-the-2nd ) to tend to her. Wimzy was basically Hazel’s personal nanny. Hazel’s personality develops based on Wimzy and being left to her own devices, letting Hazel develop her own unique perspective of the world. And when she gets her Hogwarts letter and gets sorted she’s put into Hufflepuff. It baffles the sorting hat that a Rosier would go to Hufflepuff. Naturally her parents find out. 11 year old Hazel is both surprised and somewhat happy when she receives a letter from her neglectful parents. Until she reads it. They’ve disowned her and her young, innocent mind doesn’t understand at the time. She doesn’t even understand that she’s been disowned at first. This makes for a somewhat awkward and sad conversation with Professor Sprout. And to sum it up Hogwarts will be her new home.

Extra: She starts working on learning mermish in her third year. Her dream career is a magizoologist and Newt Scamander becomes her idol as she learns more about him. Considering she’s been disowned she’s completely cut off from a source of money. So, she often helps out anywhere she can to earn some. She especially loves helping Professor Sprout or Professor Kettleburn(until he retires and then she starts helping Hagrid)

More about Wimzy: After Hazel’s parents disown her they also kick Wimzy out, claiming she’s not good at her job and it’s her fault that their child became a reject. Wimzy is devastated to be homeless and jobless. She tries to find another family but after Hazel’s parents spread the news to others no one wants to hire her. After 2-3 months she finally realizes that maybe she doesn’t need a family. Even just one person would do and the first person that comes to mind is Hazel. Even if she is just a child still Wimzy pretty much raised her and can’t deny feeling an attachment. So, she goes to Hogwarts and is ready to beg. But she receives her answer before she even has a chance to ask the question. Upon spotting the elf Hazel can’t contain her joy. But she’s also confused as to why Wimzy is there. Hazel hadn’t even known of course, that Wimzy had been fired. And upon hearing this news she immediately invites Wimzy to stay with her. Wimzy is assigned to the kitchen and comes to Hazel anytime she’s needed. Wimzy is as devoted to Hazel as Dobby is to Harry.

More about Thistle: One day in Care for Magical Creatures they were learning about bowtruckles and Hazel noticed Thistle being ignored and left out by the other bowtruckles. So, Hazel offered her comfort and Thistle became attached.

Fun Facts: I thought her up when I saw some fan art of the mirror of erised with canon characters. I won’t say that she’s ever actually came in contact with the mirror but what I decided she’d see in it comes from her back story. Anyone recognize her last name? I wanted her to be a member of an already existing pure blood family. I also lowkey based part of her back story off of personal experience. I haven’t been disowned or anything that extreme but I’m very different than my parents. Her wand description is my actual pottermore wand. The badger isn’t my patronus though.

Can I just do PBS shows for simplicity’s sake? There’s so many kid’s shows. I’m doing PBS shows. Also because it’s cute.
