Jonathan: Hell yeah Lil Dude! *hugs him*

Hopper: *in a panic voice* That’s great son, just please. Please tell you don’t have feelings for Wheeler. I can’t handle it.

Will: Oh hell no! I did one time but then he ghosted me for Jane and he’s trash. I like Lucas.

The Byers-Hopper: Aweeeee

Hopper: *puts away his pow-pow* Oh good, he’s alright kid if he keeps his hands to himself.

Honestly the only Byler “proof” I need to know that they’re going to be endgame is that I can’t wrap my head around why they would end the show with Will being hurt… again. If the show is going to have a satisfying ending then wouldn’t it make sense that the character who has LITERALLY been subjected to some of the worst events in the series would finally get a happy ending? I just can’t imagine that the Duffers would be like, “let’s just end the show with the little boy who started it all still being depressed.”.

Whatever you do, don't imagine Lonnie showing up in season 5 and asking Will, "So, was I right?" And no one really understands what he means and everyone is confused at first but Will understands right away and he just immediately freezes and looks away and Lonnie sees his internal panicking and he just laughs loudly and he says, "so I was right. You are a [insert homophobic name here]." And Will just stands there with his head down trying not to break down in front of everyone and then Jonathan and Joyce and Hopper and Mike are ready to square up and literally take Lonnie on with their bare hands but before they can Lonnie goes flying through the air and El (who doesn't know what homophobia is) steps forward and says, "I'm not sure what your words mean, but you are hurting Will, and no one hurts my brother." And Lonnie runs away scared out of his life and Mike runs up beside El yelling, "Yeah no so tough anymore huh?" And then all of them turn to Will and gather him in a group hug and tell him that he doesn't have to tell them anything but whether he's gay or not, they still love him and accept him.

And later on, when they run into Lonnie again, Will smashes something (his fist or another object) into his face, breaking his nose and convincing Lonnie to stay away forever. Everyone is amazed (Mike can't speak coherently for five minutes afterwards).

okay i just wanted to say this real quick. yes, i am a HUGE byler shopper and if it’s canon in st5 i will be ascending from this earth but i don’t like how byler is portrayed as wills endgame happiness. i want will to be happy in general, not just get with the love of his life. i feel like in the byler fandom wills happiness needs to be portrayed less as mike liking him back and more as him finding peace after everything that has happened. you know?

Will's monologue but about him instead of El:

"These past few months I've been so lost without you. It's just I'm so different from other people and when you're different, you sometimes feel like a mistake but you make me feel like I'm not a mistake at all. Like I'm better for being different, and that gives me the courage to fight on.

"If I was mean to you or I seemed like I was pushing you away, it's because I'm scared of losing you like you're scared of losing me. And, if I was going to lose you, I think I'd rather just get it over with quick. Like ripping off a band-aid. So yeah, I need you Mike and I always will."

Wills happy ending will not, and will never depend on whether or not Mike reciprocates his feelings. However, it would be incredibly bad writing if they had Will fall in love with Mike over the course of the show, only explicitly address it for one season, and then have him randomly fall out of love in the last season. From a narrative standpoint, it makes no sense for Will to, not only have a crush on Mike, but to be in love with him only to do nothing with it. In order for Will to get his happy ending for his sexuality arc, we need to see him accept who he is and accept the fact that he’s queer. With the time frame given, it’s nearly impossible to show all of this development on screen without Mike. Once in love, it’s hard to fall out of it, it takes a long time, and unless they want Will to randomly fall out of love during the time skip, they simply just don’t have the time to show that. They also don’t have time to introduce a new character that serves more than just being Will’s love interest, considering that there is only one more season and that there just isn’t time for new characters to be fleshed out. I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t want Will’s arc to end with him still in love with Mike but oh! It’s okay because there’s this random hot new guy that he has a crush on. If they wanted to make Will fall out of love with Mike, then they should’ve started in season 4, they should’ve introduced a new guy in season 4 that clearly likes Will. But they didn’t do that. Will deserves better than some random guy, he deserves to get a slow burn romance and to get the guy that he’s been in love with for god knows how long. He deserves to get his happy ending, which, from the current place his in, the time left, and based on the narrative, his happy ending would be byler endgame

I want Will to find a friend and have a friendship like Robin x Steve have, someone who he can talk about his silly little crush he has has on his childhood friend since forever. Imagine him and Eleven sitting on her bed talking about Mike, and El giving him advice for dates because she knows Mike isn't the romantic type. And Mike yelling from the living room, "You do know I can hear you righ?" And both giggling at his question. 🤭

I hate the ship Byler. Before people kill me for saying it, just wait and read. I think Mike can't express love in any way and Will waited to long for him. I think that Byler is toxic and just ruins the sister/brother bond between will and eleven. I truly think that Will deserves a guy that will never stop loving him and that isn't scared to show it publicly. I think that Mike is a bisexual with internalised homophobia who will never get out of the closet.
