Look, his whole personality of a singed cat (similar to wet cat, slight difference) just makes me so interested in his character i focus on him for weeks at a time then forget abiut him for a month

Molly: Spellcasters hate this fact, but if you just stick your fingers in their mouth while they’re casting a spell with a verbal component, it’s literally more effective than a counter spell

Molly: this also works by pinning their hands against the wall when they’re trying to use somatic components

Molly: Basically, if you make out sloppy style while pressed against a wall, the spellcaster can’t do anything

Mollymauk Tealeaf is the reason Caleb Widowgast forgave himself and you cannot convince me otherwise.

When Caleb first met the Nien he was so afraid they would clock his criminal past he intentionally self issolated. And if Mollymauk hadn't been such a cocky ass, and literally forced him to open up about his issues he would have abandoned the Nien.

Yeah, they beefed, but you have to think about the weight of the guilt Caleb was carrying around versus Molly’s ‘dont worry be happy’ lifestyle it's honestly impressive they didn't PVP.

Molly comforts Caleb in one of his darkest moments and I believe it is bc Molly has at least a few of Luican’s memories and he can see Caleb’s pain and just cannot let him suffer alone.

But, most importantly, Mollymuck dies. And that really changes Caleb he realizes just how finite life is and I think he's kind of forced to keep Molly’s memory alive. Like, Caleb before Glory Run Road would have wasted 0 time going after Jester, Fjord, and Yasha. But watching Molly fall he is forced to forgive himself in order to “Leave the world better than he left it”.

He and Beau become besties because they're both left to face the reality that the only kindness they had ever known in their life was a conman teifling.

It really pisses me off that Molly died bc I really and truly believe that he and Caleb would have fallen in love.

CALEB MADE A TRANSMUTER STONE WITH THE PLAN TO RESURRECT MOLLY. GUYS! He carried the fucking stone around for at least 80 eps. He was the only one to mention the possibility of Molly being alive he never gave up on them.

I think Fjord saw it… ya know Molly and fjord were rommies and surly they talked bc when Caleb is using The Stone and that crazy spell (I can't recall the name) and it didn't work he comforted Essek. I think he was comforting Essek not bc Caleb wanted Molly back but bc Essek was morning for Caleb like without it having to say it out loud Fjord saw Calebs heartbreak and knew that Essek needed someone to check in.

Like please don't lie to me, Essek Molly and Caleb would have been world shattering

There’s something that has been buzzing around in the back of my head for awhile now that I finally figured out how to articulate.

I have a lot of favorite characters, comfort characters, and characters I kin/relate to. One of the characters that fits all three categories is Caleb Widogast, but there is something extra that I just learned to express. Something about him that if I ever meet Liam O’Brien I might start sobbing about how much this character means to me.

He is the only character I’ve ever seen that loves the same way I do. I don’t just mean that he’s a chaotic bisexual disaster or that he’s polyamorous; it’s how deeply and widely he loves, how quickly he comes to care about those around him and how deeply his well of love to give is. It’s his hard to define and place relationship with Veth/Nott. How he falls in love with Jester; how whether it became platonic or is still in some way romantic, when life shows that isn’t what their relationship is going to be they’re dear friends. It’s that regardless of exactly what that love is he, still loves her. The flirting and tension with Mollymauk, and later Lucien. How he sees himself in Essek; though all the trouble in the world hangs around them he falls deeply, even if he holds it back behind the walls of his heart. The way early in the campaign he thinks he should leave the party while they’re all asleep; but he doesn’t, he sits there and lists all the reason to go but he doesn’t. There’s of course the doyelist explanation that the PC needs to stay with the party for the campaign and story, but the Watsonian that he’s already come to deeply care about these people. Even as he tries to keep his heart closed and cold he can’t. Caleb’s heart was designed to love fully, widely, deeply, and passionately. He and Essek are able to fight and stand beside each other as they start to heal. He works to put away his abuser so he can’t do that to anyone again, he becomes a teacher who questions authority and fights against the corrupt parts of the institution, and he continues working to put other corrupt authority figures away.

Even with all Caleb’s been through, all the pain of his past, self loathing, and assholery he works to make the world a better and brighter place. One of the people he once considered abandoning became his sister, the person who helps uproot corruption. This man loves so wholly; familiar, romantic, platonic, and all the messy complicated gray alcoves and variations on that spectrum.

I have discovered that my favorite ship dynamic is “hyper sexual/flirty character” x “greasy wizard who has not slept in weeks”

Coincidently, I have also discovered that my favorite characters in general are also “hyper sexual/flirty” and “greasy wizard who has not slept in weeks”

WAIT does this mean that Taliesin gets to voice Lucien in the animated series ????!!!!!

For those of you who aren't sick of me yet, here's another Widomauk fix-it!

Some time after coming back from the dead post episode twenty six, Molly tries to pull a "Oh my god Cree, I missed you so much, but my entire life is a secret okay bye never talk to me again" on Caleb. It doesn't work.

Aka, Molly wakes up dead at the side of the road, finds his way to Hupperdook, and establishes a new life there working in a tavern. Some months later, Caleb shows up and tries to talk to Molly. This fic is an exploration of the idea of Molly responding to the Mighty Nein the same way he responded to Cree in episode 14 of canon - by pretending to know them just so he can make them go away.

But of course, Caleb won't let that happen.
