As someone who kinda enjoys the angsty aftermath of the shooting, the shooting scene itself doesn't work for me, it doesn't make alot of sense from rio and from the show.
Because what is rios motivation here? it's sure as shit isn't to help beth. Is it to punish her for kicking him out of bed? Is it to teach her a lesson, that she can't just quit a life of crime? Is it to fully make her a criminal?
Whatever his reasoning is, rios reaction, kidnapping beth from the front of her house with a bag on her head, yelling at her "shut your mouth bitch" in that way is too cruel and violent of a reaction from him in a way he's never felt/been this cruel and violent towards beth specifically! It's too cruel and violent considering it's coming from the same man who got beth her daughters blanket back, the same man who smiled fondly at her mismatched socks, the same man who kissed her in that way..
Rios portrayal in that scene and the way he yelled "shut your mouth bitch" while walking towards beth is so violent, abusive, misogynistic man who beats up defenseless women and that is SOO not who rio is.. and to me he truly didn't feel like that in any other scene for the entirety of the whole show, not when he put his gun to beths neck when he thought they were ripping him off, not when he got out of jail and beat up dean, not when he showed up in her bedroom after getting out of jail the second time, not ever, except for that fucking scene!!
to me it just feels like the writers were trying to tell a curtain storyline that starts with beth not being able to shoot rio and ends with her shooting him WHILE they simultaneously had to building up beth and rios relationship (to give the fans what they wanted) but at the end of the season they failed to make these two things work together..
And the fact that the show had to portray him like that for just that one scene, just to get beth to shoot him, just to set up season 3 is not good enough of a reason to do this to rios character.. It just doesn't make scene and i don't like it and i hate they did this to rios character for just ONE FUCKING SCENE!!
(I don't know if I'm making much sense because rio has been intimidating and life threatening in literally every season but it never felt this real (i guess?) Or this out of character..)
(I know that alot of people don't like that beth shot rio but that's literally the only thing that makes sense to me... Also beth shouldn't just feel guilty for shooting rio, she should also feel angry at him and the fact we never got a full conversation about that night and that they didn't give rio scars pisses me off!! Like fucking commit to it).

That's Where You Loved Me II (Joseph Quinn x gn!Reader)
a/n: so i did write a part 2, and i'm going to write a part 3 now as well. as always, any feedback it greatly appreciated! kisses!
SYNOPSIS: Reader and Joe decide to meet for a drink, after all, they're both not clearly still in love with each other, right?
WARNINGS: alcohol consumption, some yelling and arguing but nothing violent!
In just over a month, you’d managed to regain a somewhat well adjusted life after the rollercoaster that was your breakup with Joe. After moving out and staying with a friend for a while, you’d carried on and found yourself a new place. And it was better, closer to your work, in a bit of a nicer area, and you finally felt like you had some independence by yourself–you were stronger for it.
That’s not to say you didn’t still think of Joe from time to time–it was frankly impossible not to. He was the next biggest thing in pop culture and it seemed he appeared every way you turned, you could barely have a conversation with a coworker without them bringing up the fact that they’d binge watched the new season of Stranger Things over the weekend and ‘that new guy, Eddie, he’s really good, I almost cried when he died!’, and you’d abandoned wasting time scrolling through social media altogether–it just wasn’t as fun with every second video talking about ‘the English newcomer on the scene’ and speculation about his personal life.
It was a precarious position you were in–it felt like a secret, that you were still hung up on a guy who apparently half the world deemed the new hottest thing. Occasionally you felt sorry for yourself, after a few glasses of wine you often thought about sending him a text saying you missed him, you should go for a coffee some time–even when it seemed like a bad idea, there was nothing your heart wanted more than to lay your eyes on him again, just to see if was the same between you. Though who didn’t think that when they were still in love with their ex-boyfriend?
It was late on Friday night–you weren’t exactly sure of the time as you were tucked up in bed about to go to sleep, still thinking of your new life in your new apartment and how much you’d changed in such a short time.
You weren’t sure if it was arrogance or cockiness, but somehow, without processing it, you’d typed a message to send to Joe, who’s contact was still in your phone–a mistake, you knew.
‘Hi Joe! Not sure if you still have my number saved or not but I finally finished your new show and was wondering if you wanted to catch up and get a drink? There’s that place in Soho we went to for your birthday that you loved that had those really strong martinis? x’
You kicked yourself as your brain went on autopilot and sent the message–what kind of person does that? Send a text like that to their ex after only two months of being broken up? And the kiss at the end? Stupid! You hurriedly closed your phone and placed it on your bedside table, mortified, when it chimed back at you twice.

You barely slept a wink that night, how could you? You felt a little silly waiting like a sitting duck for Joseph’s call. You’d even checked your mobile plan to make sure he could call, and nothing would go wrong on your end.
In all honesty, you didn’t have high hopes when it came to what Joe was going to say to you, but something about the excitement, the anticipation, the suspense of what could be.
There was a pang in your chest as you thought about the last time you were in this position, not too long ago. When you and Joe first met, he was only just beginning to make a name for himself–he’d been in a few projects and was a standout in almost every single one, but he wanted more. It inspired you to see him so passionate about his job, and it was exciting being able to attend all these fancy parties as his plus one–where you’d end up making a fool of yourself in front of some hotshot producer but it didn’t matter because Joe would just laugh when you’d tell him before pulling you into the nearest closet for some privacy.
The sound of your phone ringing jolted you back into reality. With palms sweaty and breathing uneven, you answered the phone after a couple rings.
“Hello?” You could hear wind blowing the microphone on the other end of the line–Joe was probably outside for his morning smoke, you thought. “You there?”
“Yep,” was all he said at first. “How are you going?”
You let out a sigh before you spoke–it all felt somewhat trivial, small talk and all. “I’m doing okay, sad about Eddie.”
Joe chuckled under his breath. “Yeah, ‘m a bit sad about that one too…”
You didn’t know what it was about Joe, but somehow the silence between the two of you never felt gauche–the pair of you would settle in the quiet like it was your natural state, and you could sit for hours together not saying a word but being right on the same page.
“Are you free tonight?” Joe said after a second of contemplation. “We could go to Duke’s, like you said. Have a chat?”
You tried to fight the smile on your face. You knew it wasn’t wise to see Joe–it hurt when you broke up. It felt like your world had been torn to shreds, your comfort was gone, you couldn’t function thinking Joe hated you.
“I just don’t understand what you mean!” Joe yelled, following you as you packed up your things in a rush. “When did I say I don’t want to spend any time with you?!”
You were emotional, and probably not thinking straight, but watching Joe stumble into your apartment well past midnight once again, still tipsy from whatever get-together a costar of his had held that night, pushed you over the edge. “You didn’t! But for an actor you’re not good at hiding your feelings! When was the last time we went out somewhere together? Christmas? Six months ago?” You rambled, putting a final handful of clothes in the overnight bag you were dragging around.
“Is that really what this is about? I’m ‘neglecting’ you? Well unfortunately some of us are trying to work hard in a career that isn’t very welcoming, so I’m sorry if I seem to be putting in some hard work I can be proud of!” Joe’s voice was dripping with sarcasm, and he slurred a little, still.
“I’m staying with a girl from work for a couple days, until you decide to grow up and take this relationship seriously.” And with that you walked out of the apartment, slamming the front door louder than you probably should have at that time of night.
Soon enough, neither of you felt the urge to call and apologise, a few days away turned into weeks, and before you knew it, you were telling your distant relatives that ‘no, you weren’t seeing anyone’ when they asked at family parties. It happened without you even realising it.
“Meet me at eight out the front, and wear that blue blazer you wore to the Catherine the Great premiere, remember?” you said. You always thought he looked good in blue.
“Yes, drill sergeant!” he joked, before you both said goodbye and hung up on the quick conversation.
You didn’t want to jinx anything, but it felt good to call Joe again, and you’d most certainly hoped the feeling would persist as you saw him standing out the front of the upscale bar, scrolling on his phone with a half-smoked cigarette in his hand–he wore the blazer.
He looked better than the last time you’d seen him, whatever he was doing was agreeing with him, whether it be the travel or the success. His face looked a little rounder than the month prior, and his hair was starting to grow a touch longer than you knew he liked it, though you always preferred when he let his curls start to get unruly, and his favourite pair of sunglasses were perched atop his head–why? You weren’t sure since he was squinting, trying to fight the bright rays from the sunset.
“How are you?” he said, slipping his phone into his pants pocket and pulling you in for a brief hug, where you couldn’t help but inhale the scent of the aftershave you’d bought him for Christmas the year before. And if your eyes didn’t deceive you, he took his time looking you up and down with a glazed-over look you’d seen before, a look mostly reserved for when the pair of you would go out somewhere and the night would quickly become a race to see who could get the other riled up first–you missed his playfulness, as well as his hand on the small of your back as he led you into the establishment and onto a stool at the bar.
You both ordered, going over pleasantries–him asking how your work was going, you asking if his family was well. It wasn’t until your drinks arrived that you’d finally moved onto his work.
“It was truly amazing, Joe, seriously.” You tried your hardest to look into Joe’s eyes as you were being sincere, though he was making it difficult by looking only to the ground to hide the blush growing up his neck. “Even better than what you told me about it! Eddie is a cultural icon now!”
“You’re too kind, love,” he said, taking a sip and swallowing before continuing. “Was that all you wanted to really talk about? My work?”
It was now time for the inevitable, you thought. Admittedly, you still weren’t one hundred percent sure why you did text Joe to begin with–perhaps a wicked cocktail of self pity, loneliness, and introverted behaviour wanted you to reconnect with seemingly one of the only people in your life who truly understood you, at least for a while.
All your memories together were constantly swirling in your head, the good and bad, and maybe you thought seeing him in a low-pressure environment would remedy that. Because the more and more you mulled it over, you just wanted Joe back in your life, you were tired of missing his voice and his smile, not to mention his cooking.
You hesitated on answering for a moment. “Partially.” You declared. “Wanted to see you as well…missed talking to you.”
It pervaded you as to what omnipresent force made you immediately spill your guts to Joe, but that was the way it always went–you couldn’t think of one gift you’d given him that he didn’t manage to get you to spoil for him during the week leading up to whatever occasion called for it, and any and every piece of gossip you knew–regardless of whether he knew the subject or not–was common knowledge shared between the two of you. It periodically made you feel contemptible, though you figured since Joe was part of you in a sense, it didn’t matter anyway.
You knew you should’ve been wary, you felt so desperate and clingy–part of the reason you broke up was those very qualities, why did you have to bring it all back up again? You cursed yourself in your head.
“It’s been weird not seeing you,” Joe admitted. “Feel like I’ve got FOMO or something…”
He could always find a way to make you chuckle. Soon enough, the conversation began flowing smoothly–almost like you were old friends catching up, which in a way, you supposed you were. Sooner or later, you’d both finished your martinis and were begging the bartender in the nicely pressed, white jacket to make you another round, which he refused, stating bar policy was only one martini per patron because they were so strong.
You were sceptical on the apparent five shots of alcohol in the drink–it had barely gone to your head, at least until you remembered the bottle of vodka sitting in your freezer.
“D’you wanna just go back to mine? ‘ve got all that bartending stuff, still so we can just make our own drinks?” you were quite certain your voice was even and steady, and that it was just Joe who was beginning to sway in his seat, though something told you in the back of your mind as you subconsciously placed a hand on his, the buzz was just starting to reach you.
Joe intertwined his fingers with yours and jumped up from his seat. “To yours it is.”

10 Most Underrated Cartoons
Cartoons are great…we have many awesome hit shows from SpongeBob SquarePants to Amphibia to South Park and so on. But we also have quite a few gems that not many seem to talk about, and I feel that I should put the spotlight onto these underrated cartoons. Today, I will be going over my ten most underrated cartoons.
10. Over the Garden Wall
When putting this cartoon on the list, I was heavily debating on whether I should put it here as one of the 10 most underrated cartoons or not. While it does seem to be quite positively received, and while it has had a decent amount of exposure from the cartoon community, I find that it is not really talked about as much as many others that came out at the same time as Gravity Falls. This perplexed me as I thought it was a strong series.
This was a miniseries that had 10 episodes in 2014. It was about two brothers named Greg and Wirt who end up in a mysterious land called the Unknown, and work to get home. It was a great series packed with mystery, darkness and awesome characters (especially Greg). While being underrated is a debate, there is no doubt that it is amazing! You can watch Over the Garden Wall on Hulu, Amazon or iTunes.
9. Hilda
As this series is one that also is decently known, I was debating on whether this one should be put on here again. It is like Over the Garden Wall in the sense that it is pretty decently well known, but it is definitely a series that I feel is much less known than shows it came out with, and I feel that due to this, it should be on here.
Hilda is a series that has 2 seasons and 26 episodes. It is about an 11 year old girl named Hilda who goes on magical adventures and encounters mysterious creatures with her friends David and Frida and Twig, her pet deer frog. I loved Hilda as it has fun characters and a unique art style. Furthermore, Hilda takes on the common magic theme you see in TV shows, but executes it in a way that is unique! You can watch Hilda on Netflix!
8. Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
While this series was screwed over by the network I feel that the main reason it is underrated goes deeper than that. When the series first started getting advertisements, many people (myself included) did not really like the idea of this series - especially since we just got a super dark and serious installment of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles prior to this show. This left a bad taste in our mouths and many of us did not want to check out this more lighthearted take on the turtles. However, coming back to it years later, it was a hidden gem!
Running for 2 seasons of 39 episodes from 2018 to 2020, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was a totally new and unique adaptation of the turtles we all know and love. The series revolved around them before they actually became crime fighters. The main goal they have is to stop The Shredder from being resurrected for the first season while actually fighting him in the second season. They also learn about the secrets of Master Splinter in this adaptation. My favorite aspects of this series are the fact that they take the turtles and add their own unique spin to it so that it doesn’t feel like a copy of the other shows. I also like the designs quite a bit and I like the humor. Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is definitely an underrated adaptation to this amazing franchise, and while I do prefer the 2012 installation of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I had a great time with this one.
7. Final Space
This was a series that I only found out about recently, and I am glad that I found it. This was a series which I have never seen on TV, or have heard anyone talk about until last year where I heard a few people online bring it up. I added it to my list there, and finally binged it a few months ago. I found it strange that not many talk about it though, so I did some research as to why. From what I was able to gather, it seems that when it started out, critics did not really love it, and they ignored the later episodes from there, which led to other things like minimal promotion. It’s honestly a shame as it is a great series.
Final Space ran for 3 seasons and 36 episodes. The series is about an astronaut named Gary Goodspeed, who after accidentally destroying spaceships, was sentenced to five years of prison on the Galaxy One spaceship. During his final year, he found an alien named Mooncake, who he finds out is being pursued by an evil dictator known as Jake the Lord Commander. Gary and Mooncake, along with some crewmates, go on a quest to save the universe, while trying to discover the mystery behind Final Space, which is supposedly where the universe ends. Final Space has everything I love about a story-driven cartoon - it has very emotional moments that keep me invested, it has a well rounded group of characters that develop as the series goes on, and the world-building throughout the series was amazing. Final Space is a truly amazing series, and I definitely think it deserved much better.
6. Glitch Techs
Now we get onto Netflix shows…it’s not common for a Netflix show to take off regardless of how great it is, and Glitch Techs is a prime example of that. Glitch Techs definitely had a complex story behind its reason to being underrated which is more than just the fact that it is a Netflix original. It was originally supposed to be a Nickelodeon original, but unfortunately, Nickelodeon did not give the series much love. The first season was finished in 2019, but did not ever air on Nickelodeon until it finally premiered on Netflix in 2020 with not much promotion. It is truly a shame because with proper promotion from Nickelodeon, this could have been a massive hit with how great it is conceptually and from a storytelling standpoint.
Glitch Techs has a pretty unique concept - it revolves around two teenagers named Hector and Miko who essentially try to stop video game characters from wreaking havoc across the real world. Glitch Techs was another amazing series with lots to offer. We got an amazing series with cool characters being further enhanced by their awesome designs and we got a very unique concept being brought to the table. I really love Glitch Techs and I hope it can get a continuation some day.
5. 6Teen
6Teen is severely underrated, and the main reason for this is Cartoon Network’s treatment of it. When 6Teen aired, it did not get as much promotion as a Cartoon Network original, which already kept it pretty underrated, but it also had many episodes removed with not many reruns. Overall, it did remain pretty underrated due to this, but the amount of content it got was satisfying.
6Teen was a series that ran from 2004 to 2010 and contained 4 seasons of 93 episodes. The series revolves around six teenagers, Wyatt, Jen, Caitlin, Jonesy, Nikki and Jude, and it just showcases them going through teenage life. 6Teen definitely had a lot to offer me - we got to see some very relatable situations, we had a loveable set of characters and I think this show was one of the few that executed raunchy humor in the right manner. You can watch 6Teen on the YouTube channel, Retro Rerun, Amazon Prime, Pluto or Tubi.
4. The Hollow
Another Netflix original on here…what a surprise. It seems that it is not easy for shows to get popular on Netflix or any streaming service for that matter as people go to streaming services knowing what they want to watch. Furthermore, Netflix’s lack of marketing did not help the cause. We were unfortunately left with another great TV series ending up heavily underrated.
The Hollow is a series which ran from 2018 to 2020 for a total of 20 episodes. The series was centered around Adam, Kai and Mira, who wake up in a strange room with no memories. They work together to explore this strange new world that they have discovered, on a quest to return home (despite not knowing where home even is). When going through this new and strange world, they discover new friends and new enemies, and many different challenges are thrown their way. The Hollow is definitely a loveable series, with many amazing aspects including awesome worldbuilding, great diversity and a loveable set of characters. The Hollow is an extremely fun 20 episode series, and if you haven’t seen it, I recommend getting on Netflix now and checking it out!
3. Sym-Bionic Titan
Another series that was underrated mainly due to Cartoon Network…Sym-Bionic Titan was and still is remembered as a cult classic. The reason for it being underrated is due to scheduling mainly. At first, it was on an action block on Cartoon Network, but it was eventually moved to Wednesday nights which is a terrible time slot, and it was eventually moved to Saturday morning with no warning. The reasoning behind this is not entirely known. Some say it was due to being unable to make toys, and some were saying that it was due to disputes with the team. One thing to say though is that it is severely underrated, though it does still have fans.
Sym-bionic Titan still became one of my favorites during its 20 episode run from 2010 to 2011. Sym-bionic Titan is about Lance, Octus and Ilana who fled from their planet Galuna to come to Earth due to their planet being consumed by these creatures known as the Mutraddi. As the leader of the Mutraddi wants to kill the next heir to Galuna, Ilana, the three must blend into Earth. The name of the series comes from what happens when the three combine - when they do, they form the Sym-Bionic Titan. I love the writing, characters and the artstyle. The series was definitely underrated, and it deserved much better than what it got from Cartoon Network. You can watch Sym-Bionic Titan on iTunes!
2. Motorcity
Let’s continue on with shows that were screwed over by the network, and this time, Disney is to blame! Motorcity was a series that suffered poor scheduling and promotion, which was what led to its downfall. Firstly, the series received minimal advertising from the start (it seemed that Disney did not like the idea from the get go as it was being pitched for ten years before it even got the approval). Furthermore, there were lots of unnecessary hiatuses during the first season when the fandom was just starting to form. And the worst part of it all is that it kept getting moved around different time slots, and at one point, even had a timeslot at midnight. Due to the hiatuses and the time slots moving around, Motorcity was quite difficult to watch, making it quite unknown and underrated.
Motorcity ran from 2012 to 2013 for 20 episodes. The series was centered around a group of rebels known as the Burners, consisting of Mike (the leader), Julie (an insider gathering information from Abraham), Chuck (the tech guy), Dutch (the smart one), Texas (the muscle) and Jacob (the old aged mentor). Their goal is to stop a capitalistic billionaire named Abraham from taking over Motorcity which is a small part of the city they live in, Detroit. In terms of what I love about the series, I love the characters, the great story and plot line and the fact that the series has introspective and thought provoking moments.
1. Detentionaire
Being from Canada, I get to see a lot of the underrated gems that we all have, and while I have seen a lot, this is probably the most underrated. Detentionaire’s reason for being underrated is quite sad. It was doing quite well in Canada, and it did get distributed to a few other countries where it also performed strongly. However, like 6Teen, Detentionaire got swept under the radar because of how it was treated by Cartoon Network in the US. What they did to Detentionaire hurt it much more though. It had lots of censorship like 6Teen, though, lots of the censorship was not even necessary. They would just remove random bits of dialogue. Furthermore, they only aired 20 of the 53 episodes on their website with the episodes out of order, and that hurt the show as not many people used the website, and if they did see it, they wouldn’t have understood anything as it was story-driven. Moreover, the player on their website was broken for a good portion of the time Detentionaire was there, which hindered its accessibility even more. All of these factors led to Detentionaire being virtually unknown in the US, and once it didn’t perform in the US, a bunch of other countries did not want to take it as they were skeptical on how the show would perform in their countries. It is a shame though because this show is one of the greatest I have seen. It is also in my top five favorite cartoons of all time.
Detentionaire is about a highschooler named Lee who gets framed for a huge prank and gets detention for a year. He goes on a quest to clear his name, and while he expected to just bust some ordinary prankster, he instead finds out that the prank was a small step to a major conspiracy. This conspiracy connects back to him and his entire bloodline. It is a shame that this series is not as popular as it should be. This is one of the few story-driven animated shows that I would say is on par with the legendary Disney trio (Amphibia, The Owl House and Gravity Falls). I have so much positive to say about this show - I would say that off the bat, my favorite aspects are the mystery and the plot progression as the plot really gets more intense with each episode. I would say that another highlight was the characters as they all feel like actual high school students which gives the show a sense of relatability. I really hope Detentionaire gets the resurgence it deserves some day as it is truly a masterpiece. There’s a reason that Detentionaire is at the top of a list of the 10 most underrated cartoons, and there’s a reason that it is in my 5 best cartoons of all time. My adventure with Rise of the TMNT and it's community.
I remember very clearly where I was when I heard about rottmnt for the first time. I was over at my sister's house for a night. Everyone else was asleep and I was still trying to watch TV. When all of a sudden their was an ad for a new TMNT show.
At the time I was a fan of 2012 TMNT, but as a child I was too dumb to keep up with the show on a regular basis. Plus we still use cable so I had no way to binge all the episodes. To this day I haven't watched all the all the episodes of 2012 TMNT.
However when I got home at like 11:00 PM the next day. I saw the the first episode of Rottmnt was on. I watched it and while it seemed kinda childish and goofy at first, I slowly grew to like the show more and more. I watched every episode at least once and watched the season 2 finale when it came out. This was the first show I kept up with like this.
However, as I said, I was a dumb kid. I was oblivious to many things such as Donnie's autism, Mikey's ADHD, How the show had been cancelled unfairly, and many other messages of the show.
However a couple months ago, I got reminded of the show and searched it up. I watched a lot of old clips on YouTube until I saw that I had missed the rottmnt movie. I had no way to watch it or the show, so I resorted to watching the few reaction videos I could find at the time. Then I watched character analysis and saw how much of the show's messages I missed as a kid.
One night while I looking at a rottmnt comic dub compilation, I saw something that seemed cool. A comic series that showed what the future turtle's did before the events of the movie. I quickly made a Tumblr account and searched up this au.
I quickly discovered the creator of this au was @somerandomdudelmao and the comic series in question was called the cass apocalypse series. If you have somehow not read this series I HIGHLY recommend it. The characters act like they do in the show, the art is fantastic, and I consider it the closest thing there is to as "season 3" of Rottmnt at this time.
This discovery led me into the rottmnt fandom. I discovered many other very talented artists and writers. If I tried to list all of the talented people in this community I would be here literally all day. It inspired me too both write my 3 part own series called "Rottmnt Atoning" and my first attempt at drawing Leo.
So consider this a thank you message to everyone in the rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles community. Thank you for helping me rediscover this show after forgetting about it. I have a couple good ideas for Au's and I will try to post them when I can.
Now if only we could get an official rottmnt season 3.... Actually at this rate the community is so talented that if don't get an official season 3 we could just band together and make it ourselves.

Hello! I'm super late to the aot and aruani train (having just binged the entire show start to finish like 2 months ago over 4 days lmao) but I just gotta say that I really enjoyed your Fort Salta series! Annie and Armin were legit my favourites already during my first watch of the anime, and it really saddened me to know that it seems alot of people online really hate Annie? Like (no hate on any other characters) but Annie is legit best girl how tf can people hate on her ;-; Anyways, I've been ecstatic since I've found your fics and blog along with many others (shoutout to distortedclouds and flailingkittylover too!!) bc it felt like I finally found my people - good to know I'm not the only one brain-rotting from this show and especially over these two xD
I've been dying to talk to someone about this recent discovery of mine since I've started reading the manga though...did you know that Armin has been taller than Annie since even before she was crystalized?? In the anime he's like the shortest person pre-timeskip beside Historia, but turns out it's not the case in the manga! In volume 8 when Armin confronts Annie in Stohess, he's clearly drawn to be slightly taller than her in the scene - I thought it was just a perspective error, but it's drawn that way over multiple pages so it's definitely intended! Makes the whole height/size difference thing even more adorable omg ;-;

I agree that while it's very sad seeing the Annie haters, it's best to ignore them. They may have their reasons or not (tho tbh, those of us in the Annie/AruAni fandom would say they just have a very poor or nil understanding of her character). Annie's an extremely well written character honestly; @distortedclouds and I once had this conversation where she was talking about how Isayama managed to give Annie flawless character development in spite of portraying her as the non-typical badass female (in that she doesn't have huge, heroic ambitions and etc) - and I agreed wholeheartedly. Annie's very strong and lethal, but in her vulnerability and desire to be loved and wanted, I think we can all see a bit of ourselves.
Wait I digressed xD My point: Annie's best girl, and we stay away from the haters and stick to worshipping her. Strengthening the Temple of Annie Leonhardt must be our ultimate goal.
I would go on a rant about Armin too being the best, bestest, bestestest boy, and of our other goal of strengthening the Temple of Armin Arlert, but that is for another post, maybe xD
Regarding the height difference! I believe it's an established fact that Armin has always been taller than Annie, right from the beginning. If I remember right, the official Character Guidebook (2014) which was based on the first 11 volumes of the manga, listed Armin as 163cms while Annie was 153. While he's one of the shortest among the boys in general (and post-timeskip he's taller than Levi), he's been at least a whole head taller than Annie ever since they joined the military. Post timeskip, he's 169cms while Annie remains apparently unchanged, so the gap is larger, and likely to grow an inch or two more (since he's only 19). Anyway, yes it's fucking cute, and don't get me started on the size difference 🫠🫠🫠

I played soccer when I in like elementary school and then did a season of tennis in like high school. Low-key hated doing both of them. I'm not really one for playing sports unless it's the sort of casual pick up game with friends. I much prefer to watch.

Yes, religiously.
6. what's the first thing you notice about people?
I'm going to be honest I am not self aware enough to know the answer to this one. But probably their outfit if I had to guess.

I always say gray.
8. scary movies or happy endings?
To my endless annoyance my brain is absolutely the worst while watching scary movies, like the most obviously built up jump scare will still spook me, so happy endings I guess.

Uh, I'm really good at packing? And I'm pretty good with horses? I don't know, my mind kind of blanked on anything I have ever been good at when I read this.

I am a huge nerd and also a grandmother (this is not a slight towards grandmothers). I love watching movies and binging tv shows and have an extensive dvd collection because they will tear physical media from my cold dead hands. I also love playing video games and really want to build my own desktop one of these days towards that end. I will read anything that looks half interesting and have also lost many an hour to writing whatever idea pops into my head. I crochet, can technically knit, and am learning how to spin yarn and sew beyond basic mending. I also play sudoku, solitaire (spider specifically), and do puzzles. Plus like hiking and traveling to occasionally get out of the house.
Oh and hockey.

Nope. I grew up with a wide variety of animals but have yet to get one of my own. Someday I'm considering getting a cat or two but we'll see.

I am 5'5".
14. favorite subject in school?
History, followed closely by English. This probably has just as much to do with my teachers as the actual subject material as those classes were really fun.
15. dream job?
None lol. I dream of financial stability not working.
If I had to pick something though it would probably be something physical. I like being able to say "I made that" or something with horses. I loved working with them before.
Most realistically though it wouldn't be one thing. I like the idea of being a jack of all trades type and bouncing around learning how to do a bunch of things.

"Firstly," she began whilst walking towards her wardrobe "I do like going to parties... I just don't like Wooyoungs friends constantly going on, saying, "I bet you've had a taste of Wooyoungs weiner" especially that San guy, mother fucker." she cursed. " And if you're that stressed about finals, I'll help you study when I recover from the amazing hangover, I'm about to bring on myself... is it a deal?"
"Deal" you said, also making your way to the wardrobe to pick something to wear.
"Is this too much? I mean I know it's just a house party but like... a dress? it's a nice dress Li but I don't think it matches the uh... vibe"
This was just an excuse... you didn't want to go to this party, for all you cared you would much rather be at home binge watching the latest shows you've been watching or rewatching your favorite films.
"You're lying to yourself Y/n, we've been to a fuck tone of parties this year, and you've worn something like this every time." She grumbled.
"It's different this time."
"How? because Yunho isn't eating you out at the end of the night?"
"Lia! Don't be stupid, I'm just tired and in need of some..."
"Dick," she cut you off " you need a one-night stand, you're too set on Yunho"
"Maybe that's a good thing."
Desperate times call for desperate measures. And if being in love with your ex is still desperate, you're willing to go that far.
"Or maybe we can try and get you out your shell? There are other guys out there who'll let you finish on their face"
"What if I only want to finish on his face" you stated.
"Then you have some weird shit going on in your head y/n, you two broke up 2 months ago, probably more than that," she said while giving you a look that could kill you if you said anything else " and besides... maybe wooyoung has a hot single friend you could mess about with. Please just listen to me for once and have some fun?"
So now you're at a college frat party watching people pour alcohol on themselves for fun. Great. And even better the person who always lightens your mood... Wooyoung. Approaching you and your best friend at full speed. Fucking hell. If your evening could get any worse just let it happen now.
"Heya ladies" he said whilst wrapping an arm around Lia's waist. What even are they at this point? Fuck buddies? For all you know, whenever he shows up, Lia ends up disappearing and that's your queue to go and sit in the toilet for the rest of the night.
"Hi, woo," she replied leaning into his chest. Great. "wanna go grab a drink?" Fuck you.
"Yeah sure," fuck the both of you. "You coming y/n?"
"I'm good I might go and talk to Jungwon I think he's over there," you smiled and kissed your teeth.
So, saying this night has gone bad is an overstatement. Besides, you still needed to do the wordle of today. My god. Is this what lifes become?
"Okay so if it's not an a ther-" you muttered to yourself before someone knocked on the door.
"You okay in there?" Yunho? "I was just gonna check on you, y/n, make sure you werent blowing up the toilet or something."
Opening the door, you looked up at him. And now on top of your ex being a few centimeters away from your face, your heart was also racing faster than it has in a long time. By the flush on his cheeks, you could tell he was drunk. This probably explains why he was now walking towards you leaving you with the only option of stumbling back into the bathroom.
“Are you drunk?” you asked as he placed his hands on your waist. “Actually, I don't want to know,” removing his hands you sat down on the toilet.
“y/n don't be like this”
“Be like what!?” You're now standing, “Did our relationship mean nothing to you? Did I mean nothing to you? I’m not like Lia, okay? I don’t fuck about with people because I don’t mind not having commitment and closure. It’s your fault this Wack relationship ended. Then you just forget about me for a few months and act like you give a shit when you wanna get laid” You borderline screamed. Rule number one: never be afraid to raise your voice at a man with an over inflated ego, especially not an ex-boyfriend.
“Did you really think I was gonna fall back into your arms Yunho? You broke my fucking heart!”
“y/n I jus-”
“Get out, don't speak to me till you'll be sober enough to remember this conversation in the morning.”
So it was dramatic and you’re stupid. Yunho finally gave you a chance and you fucked up. Actually no. He fucked up. Relationships are a waste of time.
More knocking.
“Fuck off Yunho.”
This time instead of your wide-eyed ex storming in, a tall guy in a white tank top peeps his head round the door.
“Oh, I'm sorry,” you said wiping tears from your face.
You’d be stupid to say this guy wasn’t slightly your type. He looks like a Frank Ocean song to put it nicely.
“I didn’t mean to interrupt, sorry, but could I use the bathroom?”
“Oh, sure go ahead.” you replied stepping out of the toilet.
After this guy had finished... his business he came out and smiled at you.
“Not one for parties then?”
“How could you guess.” Maybe it was your low standards or the fact you’ve spent the last 2 hours crying and playing candy crush, but you haven't smiled this hard all week.
“There’s just a vibe about you, it’s the “I don't wanna be here my friend dragged me along don't speak to me” look”
“Your right about the “my friend dragged me along part,” maybe add on “she left me to go hook up with some guy” and you’d be spot on” You hinted.
“Well, we’d be in the same boat then. “My friend left me to hook up with a girl he won’t commit to” sound familiar?”
“Very.” You smiled
“San, my names San... By the way.”
“As in Wooyoungs friend?”
“Ever met another San?”
“Not that I can remember.” you answered.
“Your name?”
“Y/n, Lia’s friend.” You implied.
“Woah as in... wooyoungs like... whatever they are.”
So, this is San? All of Lia's comments about him being a mother fucker weren't as true as you thought. He seemed like a gentleman. He hadn’t tried to make a move on you, or any other stupid shit like most guys at these shitty things.
He seemed nice enough to at least hang about with till Lia got so drunk she would black out.
This evening could go better than you thought.

C dramas of 2023 so far…
Honestly, I just fell down the c drama rabbit hole a few months ago so not that many things to report. However, in least to most favourite so far...
5. Love like the Galaxy
Basically the story of 2 traumatised dumbasses (affectionate) who cause more trauma to each other, mixed in with palace plots, 2 other simps, a bunch of jealous women, far too many characters (including king Wendy and his two wives) and revenge, revenge, revenge and more revenge. And obviously, Love. The classic.
The only reason this is rated this low is because this was way too long to watch and everything else on this list is spectacular.
4. The General's lady
This show is practically 'scary man who is only nice to his (1) woman.' That is it. That's the story. No one cares about the plot.
This was the first c drama that I watched. And honestly, this story is not that great overall in terms of plot and everything, but has enough sweetness to make me swoon every 10 seconds.
3. Legend of Yunxi.
The open-ended tragedy of the medicine girl and the fake prince who is supposedly a monster. Not to forget mentioning the million other very important characters and flower valley owner, Mr.secondary love interest. Cold guy, who has a backstory, meets 'ugly' smart girl and tries to kill her at first sight. She runs and meets sweet guy, who has a backstory of his own. turns out, she gets married to cold guy anyway so no point in running. Don't worry, In this story everything is connected.
This was the second drama that I watched and has the most intense plot so far. unpopular opinion: I love the ending! To me, personally, it makes sense.
2.The Eternal Love
What do you do when you have 3 seasons of the same plot, but repeated falling in love and too much Humour ? You Binge watch only season 1 and ignore the other two.
Season 1 : Bossy, sarcastic Real estate agent gets transmigrated to the past, into the body of a Meek, responsible girl. Drama ensues when the body that now holds two souls, has to get married to the hot brother of OG girl's lover. There is now a love square that only the two girls and their hilarious maid know exist and everyone is confused. The 14th brother's outfits are terrible, the king has a glitter crown, the OG girl's lover gets possessed and now has great eyeliner, everyone has a secret tragic past and there is a demon king who walks around a circle chanting " I'm a bitch " 49 times.
Season 2 : They travel back in time and go back to the future. and only our hot guy knows what happens. and everything happens again. but everything is diffrent and there are now 2 hot guys.
Season 3 : This time, they get transported into an alternate reality where women rule and our Leads get soul swapped into the bodies of the ones in that universe. But, this time, the difference is, this dimension's hot guy is present most of the time and our hot guy only gets released when a memory comes to him. BUT, every time they kiss, he turns back into this universe hot guy, making everyone confused. again.
1. The Romance of Tiger and Rose
Normal day script writer gets transported into her own story and the only way she can go home is to finish the story without dying. Too bad she gets transported into the body of the mean girl, The hero's first wife who he poisons. Someone who is literally the first person to die. The someone who dies 3 episodes in.
But uh oh! now that she survives, the whole story goes up in flames and while trying to get the hero and heroine (her sister) together, she makes the hero fall for her, makes the heroine turn into the villain and overall fucks up the plot in the worst and best way possible. She didn't even have to try. Oh, and she also made another guy fall in love with her which makes her husband the king of jelousy.
Worthy mention to their Servants, Bai ji and Zi Rui, who each share 1 of their own masters' brain cells and are absolutely done with their masters' constant lovey dovey bullshit.

Also, your opinion on Invibcible is SO true. Nolan was basically throwing Mark into the water and told him to swim or drown. Mark did the best he could with what he had. I was so obsessed with the first season I immediately read the whole comic. Currently waiting for season 2 part 2 to come out so I can watch it in one sitting.
THANK YOU! Nolan did nothing to help Mark when facing so many dangers, this kid is always on the risk of dying istg. And while I haven't read the comics, I prefer the show, I UNDERSTAND. Invincible is so good oh my goodness. I binged it in like one day when it came out I couldn't put it down. Even months ago I decided to go for a rewatch thinking I'd stop after an episode, and I was up till 3am. Cannot put that show down!!!
13. worst blorboficiation
I actually don't know. If a character's way too OCC I usually backpedal my way out fast. I usually try staying in my own little corner to save myself the sanity depletion of seeing too bad blorboifications. I see it happening with Batfam/Comic characters but comics are incredibly inconsistent if not downright malicious with characterization, so semi-understandable. Honestly, can't think of a truly worst one other than that at the moment! (。。 )ゝ

Otherwise, maybe it's my aroaceness at work here, but there's plenty of shipping I kinda don't get? I mean, obliviously, I can understand what people are getting that, but there's tons of shipping I've just accepted as a Thing That Happens. Characters are just dolls and people do whatever, and usually people make them kiss and fuck. Whatever. Sometimes I think it's boring. A lot of the times, actually. I try to focus on what I found most interesting, I suppose, and for me that's like angst and time travel! Eh, so a lot of shipping is the answer, haha! (。。 )ゝ
Otherwise, Zuko from Atla. He is a well written character that had his redemption one of the few well written ones in popular film/media history, yes. We all now that. Move on. But is he massively overrated to me? Incredibly.
Oh, and like self insert x insert any fandom character imaginable. I get it, I understand, sure, but the way the I will just check out a show that aired 0.07 seconds ago and there's already the "hottest" character biting a mf's thighs or something, like damn. The speed is crazy. And I've been in pretty small fandoms, so like 60-99% is smutty self/reader fics drives me crazy. ٩(ఠ益ఠ)۶

Hi Rae! Thanks for the question! 💗 Apologies for how long this took me to answer. Work took over my life this week 😢 Now buckle in for a stupidly long story 😅
Firstly, I had watched the original 911s first and half of its 2nd season whenever they aired (2018/19 thanks Wikipedia) and then totally forgot all about it because again #life 😅 I did hear about a spin off whenever they announced it but I guess the only info was that it was coming soon. Wikipedia is helping out and it seems it was May 2019. I didn’t really pay it much mind because by then I had already stopped watching the og.
So I move on with my life and don’t think about either series until September 2022. I saw a youtube clip of a scene: the throwing each other against the wall hookup from 1x02. I watched it and I was like.. OH?!👀🔥🥵 Saved it to my YouTube watch later and again forgot all about it because back then I was doing full time shift work and had no time to breathe let alone watch anything new 😂 (kicking myself because I could’ve been here a year ago) 😭
Cut to this year. I can give you an exact date i rediscovered 911 verse. May 17th 2023!! 🥳 All because of the Tarlos wedding.
Twitter is probably the platform I use the most cos it’s got all my sports content😅 Anyway I happened to be on the discover/trending tab and one of the top hashtags was #TarlosWedding which was airing that day. I clicked it to investigate and scrolled through. It was full of pics and fanvids of the wedding and again I was like OH 👁👁. I liked a bunch of the tweets to revisit and moved on with my day. A few days later because I had liked all that stuff, Twitter keeps recommending me more content. So I find myself back on YouTube and watched these:
and then a series of random scenes and I was like... okay I need full context for all of this. Another month passes and it’s probably end of June/early July and I’m like let me see if this is available anywhere to watch in Australia. I find it on Disney+ and they have seasons 1-3. This is finally when I watched the show. And then I could not stop thinking about it. S4 is no where to be found though. So I google and see it’s halfway through airing on Channel 7 here which means it won’t be uploaded to Disney+ for a while. So then I’m like UGH 😒😩😤 I wanted to binge the whole season like I had for the others. I kept tabs on when it would finish airing on TV and eventually the finale airs August 14th. The next day I start it and binge the whole season on 7Plus over a few days.
Now that I had seen their entire story so far, I was full blown hyper fixating. Like they’re on my mind ALL the time. I’m reading a book or watching a movie/show and thinking about Tarlos in place of the characters. I’m listening to a song or reading a poem/lyric and being like oh that’s so Tarlos coded😂😂 At this point i’m like oh no 😅😅 The fandom life is coming for me.
Then the biggest surprise of all I start getting the urge to write fanfic again! Which is insane because I had not written anything in (redacted) years. Like nearly every time as I was about to sleep, I start having ideas and rambling it out in my notes app at stupid hours like 2am 😂😅
Next we have the writers/actors strike and I’m like 👀trust me to find a new obsession and everyone is on strike and I’m gonna get nothing new for ages. Then I remember AO3 is a thing that exists and find my way to the 911 Lone Star tag and start reading fic again. Any spare moment I had I was itching to read whatever I could get my eyeballs on. I said to you the other day that I read your gym!AU first and look I might’ve read a random 1k word one shot or two but nothing I can actually remember like yours 😂🥵 I think the added pictures and texts made it so memorable because 1. I did not know you could do that on AO3 2. Rafael is like the hottest guy I’ve ever seen 😅😅 and 3. It was just so damn good 🥵 Sm*t with feelings and I am there. You teased the feelings a little and if/when (no pressure btw) you decide to revisit this universe just know I’ll be first in line 🙋🏼♀️ and the reason I can recall it as the first is it’s the oldest AO3 tab saved to my safari reading list 😅
By this point I’m reading fic through the end of August and September constantly. A few I read had peoples Tumblr links in the end notes so then I remember that Tumblr also exists 😂 I come over and lurk, explore the tags, look at all the beautiful gifs, look at a few peoples blogs and make a mental note to maybe join Tumblr again. I had 2 blogs back in hs, 1 fandom specific blog that got abandoned during my last year of hs and a sports/tv-series one I used a little in the years after hs but then again #life and I didn’t touch it after like 2016.
Come September 2023. I made a new email, signed up to Tumblr again, and requested an AO3 invite. Learning how to use this site again was wild because so much had changed since I last used it. I saw something about getting mistaken for bots so I spent a little time making the blog look nice and like an actual person exists before I bothered to follow anyone or any tags. October rolls around and I finally start using it every day and now I’m here with all of y’all 💗

January 2023 Media Thoughts
1) The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein - January 1st
What a harrowing read, especially the first half. Everything here is stuff I vaguely knew and believed in, but this book lays it out so concretely and comprehensively. Genuinely hard to get through at moments, but would absolutely recommend. Does a good job of making you want to do something and not just be passively angry at the state of things.
2) The Crown (Season 1) - January 3rd
Enjoyed this way more than I thought I would. Claire Foy is absolutely incredible in literally every scene she's in. It's also really weird to see because the Queen has been a figure for the entirety of my life and yet I know almost nothing about her at all.
3) Chainsaw Man - January 11th
I haven't binged a show overnight like this since I was in high school. Absolutely addictive. One of those shows where you're just so disappointed when it's over because you just need more. Just a cast full of little freaks. 10/10.
Rewatch - Rocky Horror Picture Show - January 21st
This movie is always a good time, especially introducing it to new people. Every single scene is stellar, especially I'm Going Home and the whole finale. At the rate I'm seeing this movie, it'll no doubt become my most watched movie. Highly recommend, seeing with a group, especially a proper theatre showing.
I broke a heel on the walk back though so it's actually the worst film ever made.
4) Breaking Bad (Season 4) - January 27th
I watched the first three seasons like a year ago and got burnt out on it. Glad I'm finally coming back to the show because this season was really good once it figured out what it was doing exactly in the latter half. Jesse continues to be one of the best parts of the show, and I still can't believe they were going to kill him off in season 1
Plans for February
Greek Religion by Walter Burkett - Greek cults and especially Dionysus have long been an interest and this is supposed to be the classic when it comes to the subject so I figured I should finally have a go at it.
The Witch from Mercury - Was watching this week to week for a while and really enjoying it, but fell behind. Should finish it now that the season is wrapped up.
Persona 3 Portable - Probably won't finish it this month, but definitely need to play. FES is one of my all time favourites, so I'm excited for the FeMC route.
Chainsaw Man - The show was so good and I'm too impatient to wait for another season.

Ok, I don't know if anyone has done this already. Tumblr is weird and hard to organize post chronologically sometimes also overrun with bots but that's another thing. So, I may have missed it if someone has already done this.
Anyway! Polls are a thing for people now and I have been wondering this for a while.
I'll let this go for a week to get the most data.
(My brief history with Magi below, if interested. Otherwise, I'm just rambling again.)
I've mentioned this in one of my first posts (brr, do not like going back to) and for me the first thing I went through fully was the anime, but the first thing I was introduced to was the manga. It was years and years ago -- I think only 2 volumes were currently localized in English, but I saw it while browsing some manga. I read the first bit and liked it well enough, but Aladdin being a little perv and some of the sexual humor just made me go "but why though?" In hindsight, I should have realized I was ace sooner, lol. I went "nah, not really" and put it back on the shelf.
Years later the anime showed up on my recommended, and I don't think I recognized it at first. I gave it a shot and binged everything. That was in 2016? A few months before I made this blog. You'd think the time I got into the fandom it would have been Sinbad no Bouken that I watched first, but I didn't know it was a thing until a bit after it aired. I've only known it available (legally) on Crunchyroll, at least when I first heard of it. I like the site well enough for usually having everything, but it's typically the last of options I stream from. That left me to getting to SnB late. And I still need to finish the manga, shh.

The Journey of Watching One Piece August Update
Hey! It’s been a minute… or a month… one hell of a month, and I have been living it up in the Syrup Village…
Alright time to address “The Wall” that I crashed into a month ago. First, a little about myself, bc I work two jobs (at least 20 hours a week for both positions) and sometimes I work a side hustle dog sitting, and I attend therapy. Throughout the month of July, it was hard for me to get into a good routine that would allow me to manage all my jobs, let alone work on this blog. I suffer from depression and feelings of inadequacy that were aggravated by personal, financial, and work issues. Not being able to continue this blog also weighed heavily on my mind for the past month where every other moment I would tell myself I should continue the blog only for it not to come to fruition. When August hit and I was at my wit's end, I had to step back and reassess what I was doing. I had to come to terms that I was asking too much of my current self and had to come up with a different strategy if I want to actually have fun with my hobbies again.
That leads us to today and a little bit of yesterday. I took out my planner and thought about myself and what I want to do. Of course, I’m still figuring it out but I’m getting somewhere. Now let’s do a little review of the “rules” I set for myself at the beginning of this challenge and what I’m changing, removing, or adding.
1.) I’m going to watch 1 episode of One Piece every day. This may sound crazy as I have stated that it will take three years to do, but I think it’s important for me to really take my time with the series.
I NEED TO TAKE MORE TIME! Despite the fact that it would take me longer to watch One Piece I believe it would be better that I make occasional updates to the blog instead of forcing myself to update the blog every day. This was the main reason you would see the blog updated around midnight. I would actually watch an episode of One Piece around 10 at night and finish writing the episode blog around midnight. This is not healthy and most importantly does not allow me to create a constructive response to the episode I just watched. Now let’s change this rule.
I’m going to watch 1 episode of One Piece on days I don’t have two appointments to attend to. While this will put a consistent schedule of One Piece updates up in the air I would prefer to not feel pressured to watch every day and crank out a crappy blog and actually enjoy my time with One Piece. This will help alleviate the workload I have in a day as well as give you guys more quality updates.
2.) I need to write a journal entry about the episode I watched, before starting the next episode. This will give me time to really digest the episode and do more with it than just mindlessly watching each episode. I want to engage with the show and casually analyze it to understand what I like and don’t like in shows.
I would like to revise this rule. I would like to analyze the show, but overanalyzing a piece of art can feel like jumping into a metaphorical rabbit hole. Instead of say, analyzing a show, I would just like to gush about it. Let me just run that point home: I give myself permission to gush about how hot One Piece characters are. I have been on AO3 enough times to know I’m not the only one who finds the characters of One Piece characters hot. Yeah, it is self-indulgent, but it's also fun for me.
3.) My word cap for each journal will be 250 - 500 words. This word count will force me to actually write more than just “I watched this episode it was cool”. The word limit will also force me to write concisely. In my writing, I have noticed that I tend to wander into strange anecdotes and it happened while writing the initial journal for the first episode.
This can stay the same.
4.) I am allowed to binge-watch One Piece, but I have to write a journal entry before going to the next episode.
I’m going to remove this one since I currently don’t feel comfortable enough that I can watch more than one episode of One Piece and write a blog in a single day.
5.) I am also allowed to enjoy other shows and media, as there are series and shows I want to watch that are finished and new media being released that I want to experience. One Piece isn’t my life.
I’ll keep this rule for now, but I might change it later. Consuming new media and watching One Piece might be a little challenging at the moment, but I’ll figure something out. I really want to watch Chainsaw Man…
Now I’m going to experiment by adding two new rules.
As you may have noticed, I don’t have any art on this blog. I could use images off Google for my tumblr blog, but I think it would be more fun (and cringeworthy) if I use my own art. While I’ve got a backlog, I have been drawing a character from each episode of One Piece to improve my art skills anyways. Oda Eiichiro’s art is truly great and I am especially drawn towards his artwork in One Piece’s earlier years.
6.) After watching an episode of One Piece, draw a character or a scene from the episode. This way I can improve as an artist and get art on this blog.
Finally, I would like to have my work looked over by my partner to ensure its quality. While I don’t care a lot for grammar mistakes, it is beneficial for me and this blog if it’s coherent. More than anything I just want to share my hobbies with them (:3c).
7.) Before posting a blog post I need to make sure it is edited.
So that’s my August update. I hope these new rules and adding some limitations will help me resume this blog and get me out of Syrup Village.

La Brea thoughts, 2x01-05
Twenty months after I binged season 1 -- so long ago that I had to watch the entire "previously on" recap just to remember half of what happened, because my general impression of this show is that visually it's great and the ideas are cool, but its cast is lackluster and its dialogue often cringe, so it doesn't stay with me -- after five episodes in a week I have had basically four pressing thoughts:
(you get zero context for this because I don't think I have written about this show before even to myself, let alone Tumblr. oops.)
1. I keep forgetting the 1988 story exists so every time we switch over, I feel like I've been smacked in the face by how beautiful and vibrant Riley is (with really great hair). Veronica St. Clair is one of the few true standouts in this cast.
2. Speaking of, Scowling Head of the Mine/Guard Dude is the first character EVER to make me sit straight up and go "hell-o" on sight. Extremely excellent Dark and Brooding face, and also great hair.
3. With the simple addition of slightly growing out his already good hair, I have gone from being meh about Gavin (which always frustrated me because objectively? good looking man. i just felt no screen presence), to being full steam ahead OTP: MARRIED PARENTS; I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL; EVE FORGIVE HIM AND STOP BREAKING IZZY'S HEART ABOUT HER BROKEN HOME OR SO HELP ME... Just full swoon up in this joint now. Man loves his wife, has gone to extreme lengths to reunite, is willing to forgive a whole lot without judgment if she'll do the same; end of story!
3.5. This is a carry-over from me hating Levi's face since it first appeared as THE WORST DUDE in Off the Map. In 2011. This man still has not earned out his badwill from that character, even as the most upstanding military hero character one could imagine. No hope for him!
4. BUT. Here is the thing -- I actually think this is the most interesting love triangle/adultery story I have ever seen on television, because I get it. I understand how it is actually a difficult choice for Eve, because for all my shipping I don't actually know who is the better choice for her right now. I understand how and why the cheating happened and I don't even judge it, which I have literally never felt in the history of ever, ESPECIALLY when a cheater has kids. I understand how you could love both of these men at the same time, and why both of them have valid claims to her heart.
All of this is beautifully complicated by Gavin and Levi being close friends, and my FAVORITE part of it all is Izzy standing in for me and being my sounding board and saying everything I would say and feel in this situation regardless of my age.
I am going to need it to resolve with Levi dying, because this is fully a "I am not sorry you lost them but I'm sorry you're hurt" type of comfort situation in the making, but I think I could actually handle up to an entire season of UST and/or Eve officially choosing wrong for a while, if i could retain some hope.
I will abso-LUTELY riot in an Eve/Levi endgame situation, though. You know how I am about marriage.
Update, BONUS/LEFTOVER THOUGHTS:
Lucas's interactions with Veronica lately: *Dean Pelton voice* what is this? what is this creepy business?
(no seriously why does this feel like UST even though she definitely looks like a teenage child and he is definitely a grown-ass adult. i have never been so viscerally reviled by age difference in my life)
Para has been one of my favorites almost since her introduction and that love has only gotten stronger
Still want the pothead dope to bite it
Less Sam is always better too
MOAR CGI CREATURES. I loved the rhinos, in particular, so g.d. much.
One more thought about the Harrises: despite Gavin and Izzy having spent a whole season sequestered together already, this is really the first time I have gone feral about the father/daughter bond -- I assume this is related to the former becoming Gavin With The Good Hair -- so when the love triangle breaks my heart too much, at least I have this. Honestly, it's really nice seeing her back with her mom too, and any scenes that involve the parents working together to protect/comfort her? Special favorites.
(the son they're all risking life and limb to reunite with? still relegated to Season 1 Gavin status; change my mind)

Hey there M bestie!! How have you been? It's been ages since i logged onto tumblr and i've been missing my moots so much
I was just reminded of one experience i had. A few years ago , i was having my first ever sleepover with my bestfriend (now my fiancè). Now,it wasnt really a planned sleepover. It was my birthday, and i don't like parties with a lot of people. My bestfriend insisted on taking me out for dinner, but i just rathered staying inside. So she decided to order my favourite food home and celebrate with just the both of us.
Now, i kinda had feelings for her, but i was too cowardly to confess to her about it. We've been friends for quite a long time and that was one of the main reasons that stopped me. I tried my best to not be obvious about my feelings in the fear of her catching me. And i had succeeded in it for a while. I was pretty sure she would never reciprocate my feelings, which hurt a bit but i tried to be cool about it
So we got our food, she bought me a cake and we were having the best time of our lives. She put on my favourite tv show and we were just binge watching it until late night. She said she had to go back home and as she was about to get out it started raining. I offered that she could stay and she agreed. I gave her my clothes and we started talking about random stuff. It lasted until something around 3 am when i noticed she was getting drowsy so i insisted we just go to sleep. I wasnt feeling sleepy, but i could tell she was totally tired from the way she passed out so fast. I turned around to face her, and she was looking cuter than ever while sleeping. I literally wanted to cradle her face and place a kiss on it, but didnt. I didnt hug her because i didnt know whether she would like it, so i just turned the other way and at some point fell asleep.
The next morning, when i woke up, i felt a hand around my waist. It felt really cold in the morning after the long rain. I slowly turned around, and saw that she was still fast asleep, snuggled close to me. I slowly put my arm around her, she kinda stirred at first,but again fell asleep in my arms. I hugged her a bit closer, and her lips started pressing on my arms. I was kinda in a half awake state, so i kinda knew what was happening and i genuinely enjoyed what was happening. She was such a deep sleeper that she never knew when i got out of bed. Later i had to wake her up for breakfast and our day just went on
About a year later, i was brave enough to confess about my feelings to her and fortunately she reciprocates my feelings too. We dated for around 2 years, and a month ago, she proposed to me! We are getting married in october , and i am excited to be starting a life with the love of my life!

facetime with my dog tonight (nov 26, 2022)
The Day, In Short
Flight home, laundry, and showering! I even washed my comforter, so my room is very nice and clean right now, which is unusual for just getting home from a trip :)
My favorite part of today was an unusually peaceful bus ride home from the airport! It came early, and it was a much smaller, homier bus than usual, with no strangers unnecessarily approaching me (which is quite a victory in any outing)! I got to listen to the new Friendly Space Ninja video, which I found delightful and finished in just a few sittings (I would gush about them right now, but I'm saving that for an end-of-year post). Now I'm just sitting doing homework, which is mostly reading (yay!!!), and then I might start filling out a form for course credit which I've kept on the back burner for a week or so now!
the little dot thingies
So I have a self-care board in my dorm, where I have a rotating cast of self-care activities that I get to put dots next to every time I complete them! I usually update my board on Fridays, but I was out of state yesterday, so I did it today! My favorite of last week's was watch TV before bed, something that really helps me relax--I'm so glad I made it a priority this past week, and I decided to add it to my mega-list of self-care inspiration! The TV show in question has mostly been Psych, which I randomly ran across on Prime Video a month or so ago and almost immediately fell in love with--I made it through season 2 in this week's binge!
The activities I can get points (which equal dots--just putting the little dots on the board is satisfying in itself!) for in the upcoming week are: leave something unfinished, flirt, healthcare, and journal. Healthcare is a big one, because I'm currently quite behind on getting in contact with my doctors, and there are a few pain-relief things I've been wanting to buy that I think I'll try and finally get this week!
OMGOMG LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT
pensando en ti: I had never heard of Lara91k before, but a clip of "pensando en ti" showed up on one of the music-focused Instagram accounts I follow (jenesaispop, I think?) and caught my attention! I posted about Clara Cava brainrot a little while ago, and my recent obsession with this song is a direct extension of that. Like "No Vaya a la Fiesta" and "Cosa Suya", my two favorite Clara Cava songs, "pensando en ti" is smooth, catchy, and, above all, simple, washed in a layer of gray skies and cold ocean waves. This is chill study music at its finest, but the gentle groove and vocal layering are enough to keep me interested, even when I'm not multitasking. Really, though, it all comes down to: ME PASO LOS DIAS PENSANDO EN TI-IIIII VI TU FOTO Y NO PUDE DORMI-IIIIIIR
prenderle fuego a todo: Andrea Santiago's "Materia Viva" is more of a legend than a song to me. Listening to it is an ethereal experience, and it hasn't lost its luster in the two years since I first added it to my playlists. Santiago released her first album this year, including a new version of "Materia Viva", but it's the title track I've been obsessed with recently, ever since I got around to listening to it. "Prenderle fuego a todo" is lovely soft rock in the vein of "Materia Viva", anchored by Andrea Santiago's raspy soprano--the typical "indie girl" voice, but with enough energy behind it to make it feel unusually compelling and natural. I've been too distracted by the first couple of songs in the album to get very far through the tracklist, but I'm so excited for more!
their coffee shop: I've been reading this Webtoon for a few weeks now--I'm not nearly caught up (I'm on episode 42 of 72), but once I am, I have a feeling this is going to become one of my consistent reads, along with Idiots Don't Catch Colds and (formerly) Let's Cast Off. The art is soft and youthful, and I find considerable joy in following a main character who reminds me so much of myself when I'm in my obsessive phases. It has always felt taboo for me to talk about my desperate, obsessive tendencies when those phases happen--in fact, I've taken this taboo so far that I'm uncomfortable with showing need at all--so I really appreciate finding a story where they're talked about honestly, covering their good, bad, and ugly aspects with compassion.
let's cast off: I mentioned above that LCO is one of my two consistent reads currently (meaning ones I read updates of whenever they come out), but it actually just ended today, when the epilogue was released early behind an ad. It's been really hard to watch this story end, as it has been a consistent part of my life for about two and a half years now (since the start of the pandemic, as you might guess), even providing my reason to live for a solid couple of months in 2021, and it's actually one of the first stories that got me writing the kind of analysis content I love creating today. I haven't posted any of my LCO writing here, but let me just say there is a lot of it stored up in my personal Discord server!
The finale definitely hasn't been my favorite part of the story, but there are some elements of this section of narrative that I really appreciate (including my second-favorite panel in the entire story, a resolution to one of the plotlines that hit me hardest back when I first started reading that's done in such a sweet, subtle way, so wonderfully mindful of all the violence that precedes it). I'm not really sure how I feel about it--it's just kind of a weight on my chest and a lump in my throat right now, leaving me too teary-eyed to do much except echo the sentiment of this quote from Mera's YouTube video "Finally, the Album":
The fact that I get to enjoy this moment in Blackpink's career, and that I get to celebrate how far they've come in 2020 alone, means a lot to me personally, because there were moments where I convinced myself I would not get that chance... This album gives me a chance to look back at my love for Blackpink, way back to the very first day, and it's like I'm looking my younger self in the eyes.
things that make brain buzz
I've gotten some work done on a couple of fiction pieces today, ones like the prose poems I've posted here before. One, I wrote a few weeks ago, and now I'm just trying to work out paragraph breaks & clean up messy sentences. The other is a random idea that hit me in the evening, so I've just been jotting notes down and trying to flesh it out a bit!
I feel doomed, so so doomed, and yet I don't want to go yet. I see the pain in front of me, and I cry for it, but I open my arms to it, too. I don't know how real it is, how accurate my visions are, but I feel them in my stomach and I feel their shadows stretch out and yet... I walk to my doom.

I can't stop imagining Nadia tomorrow morning, messaging me as she curls up against the headboard of her bed, only half-awake and slowly adjusting to the five a.m. cold. Glancing down at her phone as she goes through her day, opening our messages again and again, just in case the notification never reached her lock screen. Reassuring herself: Oli sleeps in on weekends; she might need an extra people-break after such a noisy party; oh, doesn't she have a big paper to work on? I doubt Nadia would believe that I could find it in me to write in the mornings, but it feels right to think that she might start grasping at straws by noon. Too polite to show up at my door, she would worry all day and start crying by evening: did I say too much yesterday? We call each other pretty all the time, it can't have been that bad. But then, I knew what I was trying to say, and I'm sure she did, too. Maybe this is it; maybe I killed it. But no one killed it, Nadia. It's just... my time, I suppose, though it doesn't feel right to act as though I have any ownership over it. Time has chosen me.
These are from the bits I jotted down last night--as I'm sure you can guess from these, my anxiety has been particularly merciless recently, but writing was quite a helpful exorcism for it :)
Will I Do Anything Interesting Tomorrow?
I'm planning on going shopping with my friends, plus the school dining hall will finally reopen--I'm so excited to head down there again, because I miss their tea! I have an overdue library book (as usual... sigh), so maybe I can try to get done with reading that today and turn it back in later this week!
Otherwise, it'll just be homework--I have a makeup test on Monday that I want to do some studying for, and we're nearing finals, so there are plenty of papers I can do some work on.
