sorry for being an anti-modern media curmudgeon on main but just something about the way there seems to be a popular public consensus to look down on low budget slasher films of the 70s & 80s followed by a shift now to turn the sequels into big budget blockbusters that flatten everything unique to the slasher genre so that they can make movies that are comfortable for them to make — movies that look the same, sound the same, feel the same as any other modern action movie. and then they reduce the terminology coined to describe slasher genre conventions into these over-simplistic concepts no longer grounded in any of the films but just pop culture imagination (i.e. “final girl” means whatever now basically lol) and apply them to the horror genre as a whole. and now everybody’s a fucking expert on classic slasher movies because they’ve seen scream. this is a dead dead dead dead genre and we’re just dragging the corpse around. shaking filmmakers by the shoulders why does your movie have a budget!!! where’s the innovation

I know there are many bad takes about Gale on this site, but the worst takes I’ve seen on another social media site in another language are much more abhorrent than anything here tbh, the recent one I’ve seen even gets some popularity among his “fans”... They were basically saying it’s Mystra who make him the humble man he is now, without her influence on him he would be as egotistical as in his god ending, and more than a hundred of reblogs are all thanking Mystra for “training her lapdog so well” for them🤢

Did we even play the same game? Isn’t his god ending a direct result of Mystra making him think he will never be enough as he is, and he can only find his self-worth through gaining more power? Didn’t Tara say he’s not himself anymore and she would no longer be his companion in his god ending, she knew him long before Mystra made him her chosen, he was powerful enough before his relationship with Mystra, if he’s anything like god!Gale at the time wouldn’t Tara just leave him? I’d imagine he would have been more confident and had a more stable self-image if Mystra had never contacted him, therefore he didn’t even need the Gale of Waterdeep persona. He would always have been Gale Dekarios in that timeline. And people glorifying Mystra��s grooming and abuse towards him and unironically calling him “her lapdog” is just... I have no words. But what do you expect from an online space that’s infested with terfs and radfems? They just won’t recognize or acknowledge any abuse from women towards men...

had a cup of coffee last night — i do not usually drink coffee, not for any big reason, just because deviations from my routine have to be planned and when other drinks are on offer i default to the one i am most familiar with, and because i don’t usually drink coffee i didn’t realize that the caffeine would actually make my brain function the way that i am now certain my brain should be functioning. like i usually take an entire day to shower or cook or whatever it is but i cleaned the entire apartment and made my salad as well, and there was none of the “lying down for 3 hours for no reason doing nothing” in between? and now i am feeling very tangled and sad because i honestly did not realize my brain full on does work different on a lot of levels, and will need accommodations for things

Do they not realize Taylor probably hates their asses?? She's rich she'll be fine ofc, but fuck that shit must be exhaustingg

it’s genuinely fascinating to me like. the phenomenon of people calling themselves “fans” and practically devoting their life to someone who they actually treat like shit. it makes me think of phoebe bridgers recently saying that her fans harassed her so aggressively online for daring to date a guy they don’t like, to the point where she straight up says “I, at one of the lowest points of my life, saw people who claim to love me fucking dehumanize me and shame me and fucking bully me” and i applaud her for saying it!! and like look i’m no fan of taylor swift and it’s hard for me to sympathize with celebrities on a lot of issues, but sometimes i try to imagine living a life where Everything you do is public and your “fans” comb through your instagram taking screenshots of dates and trying to match them to time signatures in your music videos and pick out colors of your tour outfits all to prove that your recent break-up is part of some Secret Message to them……like not just not having privacy, but your fans genuinely thinking every detail of your life is intended for their consumption. you’re literally nothing more than a product to them, no matter how much they claim to love you! and you still have to do meet and greets with them 😭
