The Sandman has been released on Netflix.
Today, day 4 of its debut, I typed in a search on twitter and noticed this result:
Tumblr media
Image description: twitter search results for "thesandman" come up as "TheSandman" trending, "TheSandman gay", and "TheSandmanNetflix".
This is because fans are talking about all of the LGBT representation on the show.
LGBT rep from the main characters, who are integral to the plot. Characters who are interesting and who have depth.
Now for comparison, this is a search I made last year (October '21) after previews of the mcu movie Eternals release:
Tumblr media
Image description: twitter search for "phastos", first result is "phastos", followed by "Phastos hiroshima".
I took this screen shot of one of my many searches in 2021 for the character name "Phastos", because I wanted to document fan reactions to the 'first openly gay character' from the mcu.
Well, let's just say that Phastos and his onscreen husband Ben didn't take the Internet by storm. And hardly surprising as they're both side characters, Ben is only a cameo, and as the popular search results show the most talked about point for mcu's 'first openly gay' character was apparently he helped humans make the atom bomb.
And that was about it for Phastos in the entire movie, which is a great waste of potential.
We knew nothing of his life with his husband Ben or their child; does Ben have super powers? Does their child? Do they know Phastos is immortal and will outlive them? How can brief cameos of one kiss (shot in the dark at night, compared to the much longer scenes of het romance shot in bright lighting and daylight) ever answer all of the questions we have?
And in fact, why should we even care about these characters when it's clear that the studio does not?
The mcu have pulled the same nonsense with the recent Thor Love and Thunder, after much self-hype for Valkyrie finding love, all that actually happened in the movie was she briefly mentioned a long dead ex-girlfriend, and briefly kissed a nameless Extra on the hand in one scene. All while the hetero relationship is taking center stage of the story, just like Eternals.
None of that is LGBT representation, Disney. And don't you dare try to suggest the rocks somehow make up for the lack of PROMISED LGBT representation onscreen.
It's actually appalling, and I wish fans would wake up and stop falling for this obvious baiting. Disney/Marvel Studios will keep taking your money while only providing mere seconds of half baked scraps onscreen, easily cut from the movie and not mattering to the overall plot.
Aren't you hungry for more?
Watch The Sandman on Netflix and be inspired to see yourselves be PART of the main story for once. With characters who have depth, and motivations, and spend more than brief seconds on the screen.
The Sandman has: many mlm and wlw characters, and also multiple androgynous characters including Desire played by a non binary actor (Mason Alexander Park):
Tumblr media
Image description: an androgynous white character dressed in glamorous black clothes with feathers, wearing makeup on their face, reclines on a red chair.
The Sandman is a perfect example of how LGBT representation can look, what a studio is actually capable of providing with the right direction.
So please, watch it. See for yourselves.
Tumblr media

My review: The Sandman is a must watch piece of media.
This show of 10 episodes has the most LGBT representation onscreen together for any live action adaptation of a comic book that we've seen so far (August 2022).
The Sandman is a beautiful exploration of story, characters, visuals and dreams. Compelling and inspiring. A welcome breath of fresh air; watch it and feel inspired.
Together as fans we must say, this is what we want, and we demand more of it.

simply INCANDESCENT with rage over the way w*dnesday is so soullessly profitable.
FIRST: the way Wednesday herself has been scrubbed of all personality to be an edgy audience insert. Far be it from me to shame people for their enjoyment of a Mary Sue but do it to your original character at least. Don’t make an audience insert and hold it up as the same character as you had before.
SECOND: the way both girls in the show (and correct me if I am wrong, but there are ONLY two girls plus a hated mother character) are both Manic Pixie Dream girls but to different aesthetic extremes. With all the lack of agency that entails. I doubt Wednesday is the one moving the plot if she’s being (narratively) treated like that. And she’s the goddamn main character.
THIRD: the uncomfortable pauses after Wednesday says something just barely abnormal that you can just TELL are there for audience laughter. The absence of the laugh track was a choice but it wasn’t a choice that gives me less to criticize. At least if you were blatantly hateful you wouldn’t fool people like this.
FOURTH: the uncomfortable and clearly performative wokeness. ‘Don’t make the character talk like they’re getting a good grade in therapy’ absolutely applies here. The way you are dropping these buzzwords and then making them mean NOTHING is sooo bad.
FIFTH: you really went for the ‘hated mother figure’ trope? IN THIS MEDIA??? Where the original joke was that the Addams were the healthy family compared to the normies?? That’s cheap. That’s low. That’s distressingly Freudian.
SIXTH: I’ve heard Gomez is arrested on no evidence. There’s a way you can write it so that the cops taking the Latino man to jail on no evidence is anti cop but I’m going to take a guess based on what I know of Tim burton and say that’s not what happened.
SEVENTH: congratulations Tim burton for sucking it up and putting one (1) black character in there. Next actually write him a non-racist plot line.
EIGHTH: the way this show has been out for what a month? and is already six tiktok trends really says something about marketability in the age of social media. shows have learned how to bank on their fandoms and now how to manufacture a fandom. This is a show for the influencers and nostalgia to sell and Netflix to reap the benefit of.
NINTH: I doubt there has ever been a clearer case of commodification of a subculture. The way goth is used as a set dressing in this show is almost as sad as the way character names are used as a set dressing.

Everyone nervously holding their breath waiting for Claudia's appearance, nervous to see if her being aged up is going to work. Can Bailey Bass pull off such a complex and beloved role?

You know what's sad?
I don't listen to podcasts. According to stats only 55% of people in the US have listened to a podcast and only 37% had listened to a podcast in one month. So it's a growing market and depending on your taste what you listen to may have a small audience.
Netflix counted on this. With Archive 81 they knew the majority of people wouldn't be aware it's based on a podcast or have knowledge of the storyline. They can present it as an original idea and seriously change the source material without much complaint.
I liked the show, though it had an extremely predictable plot. It's trending on Netflix so clearly it's captured an audience. I always Google shows after I watch them and I felt my stomach drop when I saw an article about Melody's character being straightwashed. As I read it I wanted to cry from frustration because how am I supposed to trust that any adaptation with LGBTQ+ characters will be respected. This isn't the first time that I had to experience this and I'm sick of it.
But whats really sickening to me is no change will happen. Most people won't care that the storys been changed, one because they liked the show and are attached to the characters, but two because most people don't even know the lead females sexuality has been erased which Netflix fucking counted on.

It's still early but the first three episodes alone give me so much hope. There was a lot of rage at Louis for no longer being a white, slave plantation owner and instead a black man who owns a brothel and various other businesses in New Orleans. I don't know the reasons for the change but I mean it's not that hard to figure out a dozen reasons why they wouldn't have gone the original route from the books. But what Interview With the Vampire is doing really well and so many people fail at is actually adapting the story to suit the change. So many people put POC in their stories for diversity's sake but do absolutely nothing with the character that you might as well still have a white character that just looks black. And then so many authors or creators act like they should be given a damn ribbon for just even mentioning a POC in their book thinking that's what it means to be inclusive.
But IWTV readapted everything while still keeping a lot of the source material and fleshed it out. Made it make sense. In the books, Lestat is my favorite character but in the TV show, it's Louis. It's understandable why a black man who suffered so much racism and intolerance wanted to feel powerful. Was seduced by the promise Lestat was offering him. The best storytelling knows that you need characters you will root for even if they are a monster. Episode 3 was perfect. I wanted the alderman to die too. I cheered when Louis told him he could reload the gun. Felt a smug satisfaction when I saw him pitched to the fence referencing Louis' earlier statement to Lestat at the beginning of the episode. Felt anger and heartbreak when Louis saw all the destruction wrought on by his decision and knew how useless he must feel because killing one white man can't kill the racist institutions and attitudes in place. Other facets too like the tension between Louis and Lestat who as a vampire is indifferent to all of humanity's struggle and doesn't bother himself with things he deems as trivial like race and therefore is unable to understand the plight of a black man in America. And there are just so many other little things in the show if you look. It's all being handled so well and adding depth to the material that makes this so far one of the best adaptations of a book that I've ever seen and it's only 3 episodes in!
This is just race by the way. I haven't even gotten into the added oppression of being a gay man during those times. I had been waiting for someone in the show to outright demean their relationship and that made the alderman's death just even sweeter. Trust me it hasn't escaped my attention that Lestat is still given more respect than Louis because even though he may sleep with men he's still white and to the rich, white men that still holds more value to them.

Top 7 Things I Enjoyed in 2023: Number 5
I… didn't love any of the new manga from Jump this year.
At least, the ones I've been interested in. Nisioisin has a story in Jump and it's okay. MMA is good, but not as good as Teppu, which is finally being officially published in English. Kill Blue is fine. Everything else I started this year is fine, but there are no amazing hits.
I don't care enough about that one story people are hyping up to check it out this year. It could be good or I could hate it. But I don't always gravitate towards the stuff everyone likes. Including the people choosing what stays in the magazine. MMA may be on the choping block in the near future.
Seriously, man. Did anything amazing come from Jump this year?
Tumblr media
Number #5 - Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King,
Yes, I know the series left Jump this year. However, it was part of Jump when this came out. Not to mention, it involves events from its run in Jump. Let me have this.
I've talked about Black Clover before as a series that feels very similar to its main character. It was unfairly maligned as bad and had a steep curve of appreciation, especially compared to its peers. But it is widely loved and considered to be amazing by people who know better, even if they don't like it.
Coincidentally, this story takes place at a point where the main character has gone into hiding and plans to make a semi-secret return.
Why? Just to remind everyone how awesome he is.
And as the anime is on break, this movie came a bit later than expected to remind the world of how awesome this series is. Again, Netflix is good at what they do. Though, as is true with most of their anime exclusives, their ability here is picking great IPs to put on their service.
Of the picks on my list, this is the most subjective. This probably wouldn't be as high on anyone else's list. However, this is only because it's at an awkward place in the canon. It's hard to understand what is happening in this movie without understanding what happened in the anime before this film came out.
We haven't gotten a movie for a TV anime this good in years. We've had good movies in this trend, even this year, but they feel like extensions of the original. To put it another way, I would feel ripped off if I didn't use my Crunchyroll account to watch them. This is a cinematic experience that I'd pay money to see in a theater and not feel remotely guilty about it.
The one complaint I have is that I still have to wait for the anime to come back. I've heard way too many things that are impressive from the manga I want to see animated. That's more of my stubbornness than anything else. Good luck on the new platform, Tabata!

I’ve finally seen it: US
After watching Get Out, I went on to see US, another Jordan Peel film in my Netflix recommendations. Good timing, it's the next film we're due to see as part of my Sunken Place: Racism, Survival, and Black Horror Aesthetic course and watching it will also prepare me for Horror Nights at Universal Studio Hollywood, where one of their mazes is dedicated to the US.
For me, US is a good horror film, with moments that sent shivers down my spine, such as when the Wilson family see themselves standing motionless in front of their house. The story of the film is interesting and original, with these doppelgangers known as "The Tethered" living underground because of a failed experiment by the government to control and manipulate the population. The doubles are a duplication of every person on earth, mimicking their actions, sharing a strange connection that will evolve into a real resentment. However, at times it was difficult to follow the thread of the story.
My first instinct when I watched US after Get Out was to expect elements relating to the black cause. I didn't find much, so I found the film less engaging. However, the few elements I did find were not lesser, particularly in the choice of casting. Indeed, Jordan Peel chose Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, Shahadi Wright Joseph, and Evan Alex as the lead actors, four dark-skinned black actors, as opposed to the light-skinned trend. I was also surprised that the main character was a woman, Adelaide Wilson, as I was expecting it to be Gabriel Wilson, the father of the family. I also liked Red's haircut, her hair being natural rather than straightened. These choices alone make a strong statement, as they are quite unusual in Hollywood.
Moreover, Jordan Peel has said that he wrote US with this idea of the fear of the double, of confronting one's own demons. We find this in the very idea of US and these doubles, who are physically identical, but also in small moments: when Adelaide frees herself by demonstrating the flexibility of dancing that she gave up when she was younger, or when young Zora has to run to escape her double, even though she explains at the beginning of the film that she no longer wants to practise this discipline.
However, what the title US and the film itself inspire me is the idea of self-sabotage, because right from the start of the film, little Adelaide gets lost on her own: her mother leaves and her father fails to keep an eye on her, but no one has kidnapped her, no one has forced her to leave, her parents and herself are the only ones to blame. Later, Adelaide is stressed throughout the trip, unable to enjoy herself, and projects her emotions onto her family, preventing them from having fun and spoiling the moment. Furthermore, if we consider the final revelation of the film, that the mother wasn't really Adelaide, but Red, the Tethered, then we can say that the whole film revolves around self-sabotage. Because yes, the Tethered decided to rebel and kill the humans thanks to Adelaide's plan. These events made me think more deeply about self-sabotage and the idea that historical trauma (slavery, segregation), racism, discrimination, oppression, inequality have had a profound impact on the black community, leading to self-doubt, internalized oppression, or actions of self-sabotage.
Finally, one thing that struck me about this film was the generational trauma, like when the mother doesn't want to go to the beach or panics when she can't find her son. Knowing the story, we know she's right to worry, but on my first viewing, I couldn't help but think that this represents the generational trauma that is often passed on within the black community. They are then better prepared for danger, as we saw by comparing the attack on the white Tyler family, who did nothing to defend themselves, and the black Wilson family, who fought, survived, and grabbed the bat from the start.
This comparison between the two families is also made when, after the Wilson family find the Tyler family dead, they decide to leave by boat. At this point, we see the two families' boats side by side, the Wilson family's boat being much smaller, almost ridiculous even though I thought it was quite nice before. I was almost ashamed to say to myself that even if this black family has 'succeeded', it will never succeed as well as a 'white' family. That unfortunately there will always be a gap, as we saw during the scenes at the beach where, except for the fathers, the two families couldn't connect.

The Future of Film: Exploring Innovations in Technology and Storytelling
Tumblr media
The film industry has come a long way since the days of silent movies and black-and-white screens. With each passing decade, new technologies have emerged to shape the way we make and consume films, from special effects and sound to digital cinema and streaming platforms. As we look ahead to the future of film, it is clear that innovation will continue to play a crucial role in the industry's evolution, bringing new possibilities for both technology and storytelling. Chasing Grace Film Film innovation reading.
One of the key drivers of change in the film industry is technology. Advancements in special effects and animation have enabled filmmakers to bring their wildest visions to life on the big screen, while virtual and augmented reality are poised to change the way we experience films altogether. With the rise of AI, filmmakers now have access to tools that can help them generate unique and personalized content, while 5G networks are set to revolutionize the distribution and consumption of films, making it possible to stream high-quality content to even the most remote corners of the world.
Alongside technological innovations, the future of film will also be shaped by new trends in storytelling. Streaming platforms like Netflix and Disney+ have disrupted the traditional film industry, introducing new distribution models and opening up opportunities for smaller, independent filmmakers to reach wider audiences. As a result, we are seeing a resurgence of unconventional stories and genre-blending films that challenge the traditional norms of Hollywood.
Another important factor shaping the future of film is diversity and representation. With a growing awareness of the need for inclusivity and representation in all forms of media, the film industry is facing increased pressure to reflect the diversity of the world in its stories and characters. This is not only a matter of social justice, but it is also good for business, as a more diverse film industry is likely to attract a wider and more engaged audience.
The role of the filmmaker will continue to be a vital one in shaping the future of storytelling. With the right combination of creativity, vision, and technical expertise, filmmakers have the power to take us to new and exciting places, both on and off the screen. Whether they are working with cutting-edge technology or exploring new genres and narratives, filmmakers will continue to push the boundaries of what is possible and inspire us with their stories.
While there are many exciting opportunities ahead for the film industry, it also faces a number of challenges. The rise of new forms of entertainment, such as video games and social media, is increasing competition for the film industry and making it more difficult for filmmakers to capture and hold the attention of audiences. Additionally, piracy and intellectual property rights remain major issues that need to be addressed, as the film industry continues to grapple with the challenges of a digital age.
Despite these challenges, the film industry has the potential to drive technological and social advancements in ways that few other industries can. Through its ability to captivate and engage audiences, films have the power to shape our understanding of the world and inspire us to work towards a better future. Film festivals and awards will continue to play an important role in shaping the future of film, as they provide a platform for emerging talent and celebrate the best in filmmaking, both technically and creatively.
In conclusion, the future of film is an exciting and unpredictable one, full of possibilities for both technology and storytelling. As filmmakers continue to push the boundaries of what is possible and explore new narratives and perspectives, we can expect to be entertained, moved, and inspired by their work for many years to come. Whether we are watching films on a big screen in a movie theater or streaming them from our living rooms, the future of film promises to be a thrilling and transformative journey for us all.

a short collections on my rantings about “Media criticism” channels online that can’t shut up about the problems of modern media * if you see a movie or show, that you don’t enjoy but other people do, maybe that doesn’t mean the other people are wrong, but that there is something about the movie that subjectively doesn’t work for you, but does for others. * Your opinions are not objective fact. people disagreeing with you are not wrong. Yes, even if you “elimate all bias” in your analysis, it’s still an opinion. * “all these POC characters are only cast for diversity points” when they are legit the best actors in the show/movie and all the bad lines are performed by the white characters... * "All these modern big corporations, keep going too woke” my little fucknugget, a lot of the media you probably like, would be considered woke if it came out nowadays. Like, read an interview with the directors of the time about their views and reasons for making the movie, artists have a big history of putting their politics in their art, and movies are no exception. * Like, if anything, Big corporations like Disney and Netflix are TERRIFIED to put politics in their shows, even when their directors want to put in anything that may be considered “political” they are constantly hit with censorship, and told they aren’t allowed. What corporations do permit in their big budget movies and shows is ONLY what is considered so default and neutral, that the majority audiences won’t find a problem with it. * And no, Disney or whoever you think is the Devil Incarnate, is not pushing an agenda with this, the actual media properties that are trying to push their political views, in every existing direction, are largely independant filmmakers who tend not to get super popular or succesful, even when they have large financial backing. * Also, a black person does not make a movie political. Nor does a gay, disabled, trans, whatever character. People will be cast in their roles based on who plays the role best, or sometimes by personally knowing directors (and having a good working relationship beforehand) or nepotism. * media corporations do not care about what the “woke twitter mobs” think. litterally every time an LGBTQ show gets cancelled, calls to revive it are trending on Twitter for months, and the corporations don’t care, because it means nothing to them. * specifically for the star wars nerds... Kathleen Kennedy had more creative oversight on the projects you like, than she did the sequel trilogy. if you think “The Mandalorian” is what Star Wars should have been, you can thank Kathleen Kennedy for that. * If you continue to have a moral panic over the direction of “modern media” and keep pearl clutching about how your childhood is being ruined by “overrepresentation” you will actually give yourself testicular torsion. There are serious, important, good critiques to be made about the way media is going, like how a lot of the media coming out now is under the control of just a few large corporations, like how the digital effects divisions are being overworked constantly. Like how streaming services like Netflix promote binging a show within the first few weeks because then they don’t need to pay as much for the residuals. But if you ignore all of those points, to focus on “WOKE MEDIA” you have a stick so far up your ass, all your shit is spewing out from the mouth instead.

NANA Characters in Quarantine
I was inspired to write this since I had to go under quarantine earlier this month due to coming in close contact with a co-worker who tested positive for COVID. I returned to work this week and I’m doing just fine! If you wish for me to do this with one of the fandoms on my list, then feel free to request it!
~~Nana Osaki~~
Tumblr media
Does NOT handle quarantine well at first. Being unable to sing makes her jittery and cranky! Will literally rant and rave to anyone who listens and she’ll do that for hours!
But once she gets all of the frustration out of her system, Nana will come up with ways to make the best of the lockdown. Surprise, surprise, they’re mostly music based!
Will use this opportunity to come up with new material and has video calls every night with the band to discuss it. They’re not gonna sit around and be lazy when they could be getting creative as far as she’s concerned!
If she’s with her S/O or Ren during the quarantine, then it’ll make things much better for Nana since she’ll have someone always around to talk to and just share company with! Cuddles! Lots of cuddles! Just don’t tell anyone though.
If Nana is alone during lockdown, then her anxiety will definitely spike and she’ll have panic attacks more often. When that happens, she’ll usually call or text someone while using the paper bag method to keep herself calm.
~~Nana Komatsu~~
Tumblr media
Is pretty bummed about the lockdown but doesn’t want to complain and prefers to make the best of it instead. Will definitely be talking Nana down and off the ledge when she gets too annoyed.
Decides to make BLAST and Trapnest masks to sell online which become extremely popular much to her delight. Yes the bands approve and yes Hachi is making masks for them!
Is the most likely to gain weight during lockdown. Will look up recipes online and try them out which is the cause of said weight gain. Hachi loves food after all!
You can definitely expect to see Hachi on social media a lot and it’ll be her main way of keeping in contact with her friends and family. Livestreaming and making cooking videos will definitely keep Hachi occupied alongside her mask business!
If Hachi is with her S/O, she’ll definitely be doing many things with them and trying to make them a part of her videos which will be very cute and adorable! Awwwww!
~~Nobu Terashima~~
Tumblr media
Takes the lockdown quite well. He’s pretty introverted so being alone and isolated for a while doesn’t affect him as much as others.
Uses the free time to write songs and new material just like Nana and they call every day with new pieces and ideas.
Spends a lot of time on social media and donates to a lot of humanitarian causes, persuading fans of BLAST to do the same which always succeeds.
Will gladly fight anyone who thinks the pandemic is a hoax, is an anti-masker, or just don’t wanna obey guidelines. You’re not gonna get other people sick on Nobu’s watch!
Likes to livestream and play music for his fans whether it be covers or original material. Hachi is one of his mods and his biggest supporter.
~~Shinichi Okazaki~~
Tumblr media
The lockdown affects his living as a gigolo (if he still does it by then) so you’re damn right Shin doesn’t like it! He hates being restricted and you can expect long-winded debates between him and Nobu on how the pandemic should be handled.
If Shin has an S/O and is with them during lockdown, they can expect a lot of sex and overall intimacy! No one is surprised if Shin ends up getting said S/O pregnant. If he’s gonna be cooped up in the house for a while, then he could at least get some action out of it!
Is lazy AF during lockdown and isn’t interested in music or social media. In fact, don’t expect to hear from Shin during quarantine at all. Everyone has to initiate contact with him first and yes it pisses them off.
The only way to get Shin to do something productive is if his S/O threatens to cut him off sexually and goes through with it. He’ll do anything to get some WAP! Speaking of which, expect to see Shin dancing to music and expect to hear it playing a lot.
The only social media posts Shin will be making is photos of him and his S/O as well as getting on Nobu’s nerves. Shin gets tons of followers because of his looks but his heart is for his S/O only and he proudly displays that!
~~Yasu Takagi~~
Tumblr media
Anticipated the lockdown and went shopping beforehand. He’s always prepared.
With an S/O, Yasu will use this opportunity to get closer to them and have deep conversations that can last for hours. Also lots of cuddles and affection! Yasu’s S/O will definitely be spoiled!
Yasu will be working from home so expect to see him on his laptop a lot. He will be doing video calls frequently with BLAST and upper management at Gaia as well as his law firm if he’s still a lawyer.
Likes to binge-watch YouTube videos and browse on Reddit. He likes to interact with his favorite YouTubers and give advice on Reddit like the kind person he is. Yasu will also donate to humanitarian causes like Nobu does.
Acts as the peacemaker during arguments between Nobu and Shin. Will also calm Nana down if her anxiety flares up. Got any problems? Call Yasu! He’s always available!
~~Ren Honjo~~
Tumblr media
Gives no shits about the lockdown and is zen AF. He has to stay inside for a while? Ok!
Is mostly gonna spend the days in bed with his S/O (if they’re with him) and just wants to be close to them. Sleeping is Ren’s best friend!
If Ren is still using drugs, then he’s gonna be unbearable to be around since this means he’ll have to go through withdrawal and will have no way to get the drugs.
Will be unreachable during lockdown if he’s with his S/O. They come first as far as he’s concerned and he wants to make up for lost time with them as much as possible.
Will play music just to brush up on his guitar skills. May join Nobu on one of his livestreams every now and then and play with him as well as chat with fans.
~~Reira Serizawa~~
Tumblr media
Has the same reaction as Nana when it comes to the lockdown and has bitching sessions with her about it too. Everyone is annoyed (except Shin) and if anyone tries to interrupt, they get bombarded by Reira and Nana to the point of not being able to get a word in.
Is bored AF and literally doesn’t know what to do with her time. Calls everyone and annoys the hell out of them to the point where they block her number. Reira just wants some company! 🙁
Spends the most time on social media out of everyone and mostly sings songs for her fans. Yes she takes requests and yes she gets a lot of them. Joins Nobu on his livestream whenever Ren is present and provides the vocals for their music. It instantly goes viral as one would expect.
If Reira has an S/O, they can definitely expect her to be clingy and trying to always have their attention. If they’re working from home and have to do video chats, Reira will definitely be in the background and will bring you things if you ask. She may or may not be appropriately dressed.
Loves to listen to other musicians on Spotify and will shout them out and uplift them. If anyone sings a cover of one of Trapnest’s songs, Reira will cry with joy and happiness!
~~Takumi Ichinose~~
Tumblr media
Takes the lockdown in stride surprisingly enough. He doesn’t want to risk getting sick nor does he want his bandmates getting sick.
Decides to relax more instead of working which shocks most people. If Takumi has an S/O, he’ll want them to stay with him but if they can’t, he’ll settle for calls and texts.
Sex, sex, and more sex! His S/O will definitely be worn out unless they have a high sex drive and if they get pregnant, Takumi will be happy and expects it to happen unless you use birth control.
Likes to try new challenges and will have a YouTube channel dedicated to that. Such content includes eating a Carolina Reaper pepper, drinking very strong cocktails, and gaming-related challenges. Yes Takumi is a gamer and his rage is legendary.
Does weekly video calls with the band to make sure they’re taking care of themselves and staying safe. No one’s getting sick on his watch!
~~Naoki Fujieda~~
Tumblr media
Hates the restrictions and whines about being stuck in the house all day, everyday. He wants to have fun damn it!
Will do anything and everything to keep himself busy and if he has an S/O with him, they’ll be dragged into it too! Naoki doesn’t want you to be bored!
Will do challenges with Takumi and plays video games a lot whether it’s by himself, with his S/O, or with Takumi. His livestreams are a riot and there’s plenty of laughter to be had, especially if Takumi is present.
Likes to upload skits and rants that become quite popular due to how funny and true they are. Also gives advice to people which actually works and makes their lives better.
Always makes sure his appearance is on point and likes to promotes fashion brands, ideas, and trends. Naoki loves beautiful things so expect to see a lot of pics of just that!
~~Junko and Kyosuke~~
Tumblr media
Kyosuke takes the lockdown in stride while Junko panics. Junko ends up furloughed (she’s a salesperson) so she worries about finances.
Kyosuke comes up the idea of doing art commissions for money and it becomes a huge success. Junko decides to join in and also makes and sells masks with Hachi.
Their sex life becomes much more active during lockdown and it’s quite noticeable with how relaxed Junko is. Teasing them about this will just make Junko act like a tsundere and Kyosuke act smug.
They network with other artists worldwide and become quite involved, especially in the black community.
Kyosuke watches various livestreams while Junko sticks to services like Netflix and Hulu. Kyosuke is a mod for Hachi’s livestreams and Junko catches up on her favorite shows while live-tweeting with fellow fans of said shows and having discussions.

series masterlist   main masterlist   chapter 4   chapter 6
The video of Y/N and Tom singing ‘SOS’ broke the internet. It was trending for at least four days. The whole internet, already on the witch hunt to find evidence of a relationship, was being fed. The paparazzi were circling around like vultures. The threat of being outed made them hide in their caves.
Haz was coming to London in two days. Y/N was trying to rid the house of anything and everything that hinted that Tom had been staying with her. Between the paps, shooting, and Haz, she couldn’t find time to meet Tom and give him his things.
There were Polaroids scattered all over the house. While she was packing a box to parcel to Tom, she found a Polaroid on her glass coffee table next to her ‘vanilla sage’ candle from Bath and Body Works. In the photo, Y/N was lying on her stomach on the hardwood floor in her living room, a gin and tonic next to her. Tom was sitting on the floor with his right arm extended to take the photo. They were both smiling.
She remembered when he took that photo. It was the same day she found a vintage vinyl of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong’s ‘on verve’, during her exploration of Camden market. They decided to have a listening party of that album on the floor. Tom found his new favourite song that day, ‘let’s call the whole thing off’. She smiled at the memory. Instead of putting it in the box, she went into her room to put it in her wallet where only she could find it.
Y/N noticed her phone vibrating next to her purse. It was Harrison.
“Bonjour mon amour”,
“Hi Haz, did you board the flight?”
“Just did; listen you don’t have to pick me up from the airport, I know you are busy at work”
“Fine. Text me when you land”
“Su-“, she hung up the phone.
I can’t believe I have to live with this man for a whole week.
Haz came in late at night, even though his flight was supposed to land at 5pm. Y/N was already sleeping. When she woke up around 8 next morning, she found, much to her surprise, Haz snoring next to her. Last night she made sure that there was a pillow and a blanket on the couch for him, a subtle way of saying ‘I don’t want you sleeping in the same bed with me’. Also because she thought he knew about the affair and wouldn’t want to sleep next to her.
God, I wish I had another bedroom
Y/N was sitting on the bar stool with her laptop on the kitchen island, going through her mail while drinking coffee. Haz had just woken up from his deep slumber, and found his way to the kitchen to fetch him some coffee.
“Good morning!” she said enthusiastically, without looking up from her laptop screen. She had thought it was a sleepy Tom, coming out of the bedroom to make himself tea.
“Morning”, Haz said as a reflex, rubbing his eyes. Y/N’s smile disappeared upon hearing the sound of his voice.
“Did you make breakfast?” Haz asked while pouring himself coffee into a mug Tom had gifted Y/N.
“I made myself breakfast when I woke up, three hours ago. Was I supposed to make breakfast for you too?” It was a rhetorical question. Y/N noticed the mug, it made her uneasy watching a man she doesn’t love drinking from a gift given by the man she did love.
“There’s eggs and bread in the fridge, help yourself”, she pointed at the refrigerator.
As Haz cracked open an egg on the pan, Y/N received an email from Greta.
“Good news, Netflix bought the distribution rights to Greta’s movie, she just sent me a mail”
“Oh”
Oh? Seriously, oh?
“They are planning the premier for this Friday, do you want to go with me?”
“I don’t think so, I don’t really like the people you work with” he was putting butter on cold bread.
There is nothing more tragic than love turning into hate. Tragedy had struck their marriage. The rest of the week, they only spoke when they absolutely had to. It was like living with a roommate, you share a bed with but cannot share your day with.
--
It was Friday, the day of the movie premiere. Y/N was excited to see Tom after a week without him, which felt like an eternity to her. She was wearing a silver colored floor length gown with heavily studded earrings. Her hair was up in a bun with two strands out, to shape her face.
Since it was Netflix, the event could afford to take place at the Royal Albert Hall. Y/N had only been there once, for an Arctic Monkeys concert. When she stepped out of the car, she was met by blinding lights of the cameras. She walked over to the whole cast on the red carpet. The only thing she could hear was the deafening noise of photographers screaming to look towards them and in between, tabloid journalists asking her questions about her life and rumours.
Y/N was still pretty new to walking red carpets because she had mostly worked on indie films that couldn’t afford a grand premiere as most of the money would go towards entering different festivals. Y/N was wearing a mask of pure joy on her face but Tom could see right through it. He could see how uncomfortable Y/N was feeling.
He walked towards her, “you look gorgeous darling” he whispered in her ears and for a second that mask she was wearing became real. They both posed together, but regretted it immediately. The whole media went on overdrive, seeing them together.
“Are you guys seeing each other?” a person from the left screamed.
“Y/N, did you leave Harrison?” someone from the right asked
The voices were coming from everywhere. All they could do now was walk off the carpet. Tom had arranged for Y/N to sit next to her during the screening. His hand was linked with Y/N’s the whole time. He could feel her shivering.
“Are you cold?” he asked her.
“Not really”, she took a long pause. “I am just nervous about my performance in the movie and I guess the questions really got to my head, it’s all making me very anxious”
“Don’t worry babe, everyone is going to love you in the movie, and those hunters out there are shell of a person, all they care about are these bullshit rumours. They don’t deserve a house in your thoughts”
“Shhhhhh” someone whispered from the row above theirs.
Y/N’s phone was vibrating, it was Harrison’s fourth call in fifteen minutes.
Why is he not getting the hint that I don’t want to talk to him
She ignored it.
A few minutes later, her phone rang again.
What if it’s serious?
She got up and went outside of the theatre to take the call.
“What is it, Haz? You know I’m busy right now”
“Umm, are you Y/N?” A man with a heavy, older voice said.
“Yes?” She was confused. “Who is this and how do you have my husband’s phone?”
“Your husband is trashed, ma’am. He passed out on my bar counter about half an hour ago. Your number was on his emergency contact list so I'm calling you to pick him up”
“I’ll be right there, can you tell me the address?”
“Yeah sure it’s 141 Albert Street, Spread Eagle”
Tom came out of the theatre.
“Is everything okay, Y/N?”
“I have to go pick up Haz, he’s splashed out on a bottle somewhere, bloody fool can’t even walk”, she said whilst texting her driver to pick her up.
“Do you want me to go with you?”
“No, I need to deal with this alone”
She walked out the back gate and got in a black Audi.
The paparazzi had noticed her early departure, so they started following her recklessly.
It was a corner pub, the bar was at full capacity. Y/N saw Haz with his head down on the counter, an almost empty tequila bottle next to him.
“Haz wake up, come on, we need to go, get up darling” Y/N was trying to shake him awake.
“O-oh Y/N, y-you’re he-ear”, he was slurring his words.
“Yeah now let’s go”
He started to get up, Y/N had her one hand on his back and the other on his forearm, to support him.
“Honey I th-think I’m going to puke”, he looked sick.
“Is there a restroom here?” She asked the bartender. He pointed towards the corner of the room, a dimly lit area.
“Thank you”. She helped Harrison to walk to the restroom.
The washroom felt like their marriage. They were cramped up in it. The whole room was pure white but also yellow, caused by the lack of cleaning. There were no windows and had only one white florescent light. It was suffocating. The room made her realise that she could not hide from the inevitable, anymore.
Has was on his knees, holding on to the toilet seat with his dear life, puking all the poison out. Y/N was standing near the sink, taking off her statement earrings. She could see a vulnerable Harrison in the reflection of the mirror.
“I want a divorce”, she whispered, loud enough to be heard in this stifle room.

FAVORITE SHOWS IN POSTERS
Well, we’re back for another installment of this tagged meme, this time for TV shows! I also stole this from/was indirectly tagged by @jcmorrigan. My taste in shows also differs a bit from my taste in movies, as I tend to like a lot of comedy shows with not as many horror ones. I’m not into shows as much as movies overall, but there are some that I am very passionate about so I picked twenty again. So, here we go for part 2, in order:
Tumblr media
1. Avatar: The Last Airbender/The Legend Of Korra (2005-2014)
I'm including these as one show since they take place in the same universe and tell a continuation of the same overall plot. Altogether this is probably the best piece of media to ever exist, including movies. It has so many great characters and villains especially and some of the most epic sequences, charming humor and heartwarming moments ever. I've never met a person who didn't like these shows, even people who normally don't like cartoons. My dad, who is biased against animation? He loved it. My mother? She loved it, watched it with her multiple times. My grandmother? Loved it. My ex-boyfriend? Loved it. My best friend? Loved it. I dare anyone not to, and I'm so glad it's making a resurgence since it's on Netflix for a new generation to enjoy.
Tumblr media
2. Black Butler (2008-2014)
I never was big into anime growing up and only really started watching anime when I was like 16 and above, but this is one of the exceptions because holy shit is it ever dark and epic. I'm not sure I'd really recommend it for kids, it's more of a teens and young adults kind of anime and that's probably why it's so good, because it isn't afraid to explore dark and mature topics and do it with all of the intensity and gravitas required to do said topics justice. It has lots of great characters, and the story of demons who make deals with children who have a dark side is fun to watch play out.
Tumblr media
3. Seinfeld (1989-1998)
My dad was a huge fan of this show so I watched it growing up since I was a toddler and it became a classic for me. I've watched thw hole show through at least 8 times, and I'll never stop because it never gets old or boring. It's also my only comfort show when I'm having a panic attack because of one time a few years ago when I was having a drug-induced psychosis episode and watching it calmed me down, so now it's like the opposite of a trigger and whenever I'm having an episode or something I watch it to bring me back to reality. For that reason it's more than a show to me, it's a medical treatment and I'm forever grateful to it.
Tumblr media
4. The Good Place (2016-2020)
The big four shows made my Michael Schur all made it on this post (The Good Place, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Office and Parks And Recreation), either in the main list of the honorable mentions, but this is my personal favorite of the four. It's so funny, quirky, relatable and basically tailor-made to suit my interests. Not only is it an entertaining and wholesome show, but I think watching it helped me come to terms with a lot of things like mortality, ethics, philosophy, religion and my relationships with other people. It gets  alot of different viewpoints across and if you're a very analytical and philosophical person like me you'll probably enjoy seeing it all play out. Not to mention, every single character is 'favorite character' material. It's rare you find a show with no filler characters in the main cast, but I genuinely can't choose who is best.
Tumblr media
5. Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013-?)
Another of Michael Schur's shows, this one is just barely under The Good Place and to be honest it was tough to pick my favorite between the two because they're both equally funny. I know it's kind of controversial right now because of the whole law enforcement thing, but I actually think they do a good job of handling social issues in the show and remaining respectful of real-life systemic problems. As for the characters, this is another one of those shows where every single character is gold and I think that tends to be a trend among Schur's shows in general. He produces damn good comedy, and damn good characters. I can't wait to see what they bring next.
Tumblr media
6. Rick And Morty (2013-?)
This is unfortunately one of those cases of 'great show, horrible fandom' and for that reason I don't get involved in the fandom even though I love the show. It's a shame because it really is a great show, so funny and, again, such good characters. I think it's a lot more accessible than the fandom likes to claim, so I'm hoping more people will give it a chance and not get put off by the intellectual elitism of the fandom because it does have some of the most entertaining and batshit crazy episodes ever, poking fun of some of the staples of science fiction in media while also poking fun of itself the whole time. Unlike the fandom, the show doesn't take itself seriously and that's enjoyable nowadays.
Tumblr media
7. Orange Is The New Black (2013-2019)
While this show is a comedy, it is also a lot of other things and it's probably made me ugly-cry just as many times as it's made me laugh. Well, maybe not as often, but those few scenes (if you've watched the show then you know the ones I'm talking about) made me hysterically sob hard enough to be worth like fifty minor sads. But I didn't even mind because the show is just that good, and it makes you /feel/ something in a real way. Probably because of just how real it gets in terms of telling stories that happen all the time in the real world, sometimes with inevitably tragic endings. But these things do happen every day, and it's important to shine a light on that. It's not just representation for LGBTQ+ but also for POC, the neurodiverse, the poor, and many more. Give it a watch to broaden your perspective!
Tumblr media
8. Big Mouth (2017-?)
This is probably the grossest show I've ever seen but by god is it ever funny. Maybe it's because I have an immature sense of humor or something, but I love this show. It definitely won't be everyone's cup of tea and I don't recommend you watch this show with anyone else around because it will get awkward. I think part of its appeal to me is that everyone I talk to who likes it considers it so relatable to their lives growing up but for someone like me who grew up on the autism and asexual spectrum and who was physically an early-bloomer by years, nothing about this show is relatable to me in any way so it makes it all the more crazy and bizarre watching how the people around me must have experienced things. Did y'all really have these experiences with puberty in middle school???
Tumblr media
9. Dexter (2006-2013)
I recently heard that this show is coming back for a reboot soon and I'm so excited because this is my absolute favorite drama/thriller show, as evidenced by the fact that it's the highest one on the list so far that isn't a comedy. I love the idea of having a protagonist who is sort of a villain (or at least morally dubious), and the idea of a serial killer who only kills bad people is particularly satisfying for some reason. Maybe because he's the vigilante we all deserve and want in this unjust and evil world of modern times? Idk but the very premise of this show set it up for big things and aside from the ending I think it delivered consistently.
Tumblr media
10. Once Upon A Time (2011-2018)
This show took us on some journeys, and you can't deny that. Sure, maybe it didn't always finish what it started and didn't always end in the most satisfying way, but part of its charm is that you didn't care because the experience was just so much fun. They took characters and stories that have been told to death and somehow managed to put a unique and unexpected twist on them, and that alone is admirable. Good twists, good villains, and pretty much every cliffhanger known to man will keep you hooked on binge-watching every episode.
Tumblr media
11. RuPaul's Drag Race (2009-?)
A bit different than the other entries on my list in that it's not fiction but a reality competition show, but I couldn't leave Drag Race out because it's just so fucking iconic and perfect. Even when you disagree with the judges or can't stand a certain contestant you'll still be having a good time. It's got the personalities you love to love, the ones you love to hate, and the comedy that's completely meme-able. I mean just how much has this show contributed to pop culture and the internet? More than most of us, henny. I've watched every single season, even the international ones and all of the spinoffs. This show will probably be on for another thirty years when Ru is throwing shade from a hospital bed and I'll still be watching.
Tumblr media
12. House (2004-2012)
Some people hate on this show, and I don't get it. I love House. Yes, he's an ass. That's the point. He's supposed to be unlikeable, and that's why I like him. Maybe because I always love the rude, sarcastic, misanthropic jerkass-genius characters for some reason. And I also love procedural shows, so it's a win-win. I also work in the healthcare field so it appeals to me for that reason too, because obviously the whole premise is outlandish which is what makes it funny. Of course it's not realistic for a hospital, so just enjoy the absurdity and don't get too hung up on the details of medical accuracy and professional ethics and you'll be fine.
Tumblr media
13. The Office (2005-2013)
The third of Michael Schur's show and the last one that made the main list (sorry Parks And Rec, I love you too but there was just so many good shows to choose from and I saw you last so the nostalgia isn't as strong!) I don't think I need to hype this show up any, it's already a classic and you can't even turn around online without getting hit in the face by a dozen Office memes. You'll have to pry this show and it's relatable characters (especially Michael Scott) from my cold, dead hands.
Tumblr media
14. All Hail King Julien/The Penguins Of Madagascar (2008-2017)
Like Avatar/Korra, I also consider this as one show for the sake of this list because it also takes place in the same universe (Madagascar, specifically) and I just couldn't choose one over the other because they're both so perfect. They're funny and I love all the characters (it cut out the weaker links of the Madagascar film series and just focuses on expanding the standout side-characters like King Julien and the penguins). It also delved into some lore, particularly the first show, and even though I didn't also agree with the directions it took (you may have seen me get salty about the ending because I cared too much), I can't deny how much I love it.
Tumblr media
15. Bones (2005-2017)
One of the other scarce non-comedy shows on this list, it still has it's funny moments. It's also, like House, another procedural show that involves some medical stuff, but this time on a more scientific and forensic level which is even more interesting. It's nice to see a lead female with Asperger's, too. There's a lot of cop/law enforcement shows where they try to solve crimes, but this one is the best, and I'm saying that as a fan of CSI as well. Don't fight me on this, I'm right. Oh yes, it's corny, it's campy, it's cheesy, but I love every minute of it. Don't watch if you have a weak stomach though.
Tumblr media
16. The Simpsons (1989-?)
We all grew up with this show, don't lie. It's been around longer than most people on tumblr have even been alive. Should it have ended seasons ago? Hell yes. But that doesn't take away what the first like 20 or so seasons gave us (there's a lot of argument about when the show jumped the shark, for me it wasn't until much later than the popular consensus). The characters are amazing, but the secret to the show's longevity is that they always return to status quo and there's comfort and nostalgia in that. Bart will still be in 4th grade when you're out there pushing 90. This show is persistent. This show is eternal. This show will outlive us all.
Tumblr media
17. Ash Vs. Evil Dead (2015-2018)
Sorely underrated. This show is hilarious, gruesome and campy as hell and I love it. I don't think you necessarily have to watch the Evil Dead movies beforehand in order to get the plot of the show, although it would probably help. In my opinion this show ended way too soon and I'm hoping someday we'll get a comeback because Ash is the reluctant, self-absorbed hero we all need and it's 2020 so at this point there really might actually be a demon-zombie apocalypse and who's gonna save us then if not for the impulsive womanizer with a chainsaw for a hand?
Tumblr media
18. Malcolm In The Middle (2000-2006)
Another show I grew up with, I don't think it gets as much credit as it deserves. It has some damn funny episodes and great characters, and it did a lot of the popular sitcom tropes before they were 'cool'. Some other great sitcoms, The Middle in particular, took a lot of influence from this show and it helped pave the way for the future of sitcoms at a time when they were about to make a comeback. If you want a good show about the real experiences of growing up, this is a much more accurate representation of the highs and lows of being an awkward tween from a dysfunctional home.
Tumblr media
19. A Series Of Unfortunate Events (2017-2019)
Unlike most people I actually liked the movie version from the early 2000's, and I read the books growing up so I was excited when I saw there was a live action television adaptation of it on Netflix because I felt like they cancelled the movie franchise too soon. I was interested to see how new actors would handle the roles, and I was not disappointed. I wouldn't say I liked either portrayal of the characters better or worse, they both added their own twist to it and this show is a great and loyal adaptation to the books, probably because the author was so heavily involved. He knew just when to stick to the books and when to improve upon what he had done with the benefit of hindsight. This show is basically the books, but remastered.
Tumblr media
20. Winx Club (2004-?)
Sort of an odd one out on this list, but I really love this show even as an adult and it may surprise you to learn it is still going on and the most recent season came out last year. They take big breaks sometimes in between seasons, but it's still going strong and in multiple countries. The only thing I don't like about watching this show is all the different and inconsistent dubs since the original show is Italian and each dub only goes for a couple seasons so by the time you get used to one set of voices/names for the characters oyu have to abruptly switch to another, but it's still worth it for the beautiful animation and cool characters (especially the villains!)
Honorable Mentions:
13 Reasons Why, America's Next Top Model, American Horror Story, Arrested Development, Bates Motel, Battlestar Galactica, Black Mirror, Care Bears, Chernobyl, Courage The Cowardly Dog, Criminal, CSI, Duck Dodgers, Goosebumps, Kenny Vs. Spenny, Kim Possible, Kingdom Hospital, Lazytown, Lost, Making A Murderer, Mayday, Mindhunter, Modern Family, Monster High, Obsession: Dark Desires, Parks And Recreation, Prison Break, Project Runway, Queer As Folk, Queer Eye, Salem, Schitt's Creek, SCTV, Spongebob Squarepants, The Emperor's New School, The Good Doctor, The Haunting Of Hill House/Bly Manor, The Middle, The Pretender, The Walking Dead, The X-Files, Through The Wormhole, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Unsolved Mysteries, Yugioh

As you all know, I have been watching Hunter x Hunter sine last week and I have to say the show is VERY interesting. Unfortunately, Netflix has decided to only upload 4 seasons right now. Who knows when the rest will be uploaded. Anyway, I am fully digesting season 1 which is about the Hunter’s Exam.
Killua Analysis| Illumi Analysis| Chrollo Analysis
Thus far the main character has left home to pursue the same career as his father. He meets Leorio and Kurapika on a ship and stays with them through out the exam. I immediately questioned why and how a 12 year old was able to survive all of that. He had to fight people much older and stronger than him AND use his Hunter’s license correctly. I am going to ramble about some of the characters and my thoughts on them. Keep in mind I haven’t seen the rest of the seasons or the movies yet. I have to say that or else the toxins will slide into my DMs. Let’s get into it!
I’ve mentioned this character before a few times because he has caught my attention the most. Can you guess it? That’s right! I am talking about Hisoka Morrow. Ironically, I saw a screenshot of he and Illumi on my twitter page and I unintentionally said “Who are they?!”. I soon found out that they were on this show. Here is what attracted me the most to looking at this show:
Clothes
I saw a man wearing what seemed to be playing card patterned white or black crop top, a light pink shirt underneath, and fitted white pants. I will admit that this is a unique styling for anyone in an anime that I’ve seen but I like it a lot. I didn’t know why he wore that patten on his shirt(s) until later.
Shoes
When I say this man is stylish, I mean it. I noticed during season 1 he wore court jester shoes. They are black and pointed up where the toe is. To think that this man was running in a long tunnel, outside and did it flawlessly boggles my mind. How did he not twist his ankle?! I ran in Nike slides before and FUCKED my ankle up so badly. In season 2, I noticed that he switched from the jester shoes to what I call “The Casual Boots” which simply means they are still pointed but have a small heel on them. Again, how he fights in heels boggles my mind. Fun Fact about myself, yeah , I cannot walk in heels without my feet swelling! The fact that he flawlessly defeats appointments in heels is crazy and just the thought of that makes my ankles hurt more.
Face
I immediately noticed the tear drop and star on his face. One thing that I love about a character’s design is their face markings and tattoos. One character that I will always love is Clockwork from Danny Phantom. He has a thunderbolt tattoo under his eye that compliments the red in his eye. Some people view Hisoka as a clown because of his makeup and how he dresses but I got the impression of him being a court jester. I’ve made jokes about how he minded me of a human version of Haxus, a Galra solider from Voltron Legendary Defender.
Hisoka has been blessed with a chiseled jaw and a body like Adonis. I’m sure you’ve seen it. This is stuck to my brain like glue because for the longest I have tried to draw my own OC’s like this for a few years and they never come out right. Other characters like Shiro and others have caught my attention in the same way.
Tumblr media
Hair
His hairstyle is very unique. I like to describe in the shape of a volcano that shifts between the color of red and orange. How he gets it to look like that everyday is still in question. Some fans have said that they like it down but I like the up-hairstyle. I think the down hairstyle would be appropriate for formal occasions.
Tumblr media
Voice/enunciation
This will vary for other viewers but this is how I feel about how Hisoka speaks. I’ve noticed a trend with certain villains in anime shows. Characters like Illumi, Hisoka, Lotor, Zarkon, and many more with English Voice Actors enunciate their words more clearly and sharply for impact and effect. I’ve stated before in an ask about the Galra and their culture before the rift accident where I believe Zarkon has a mid-Atlantic accent. A mid-Atlantic accent is an cultivated accent of English blending together features of both American and British English (specifically Received Pronunciation for the latter) that were considered the most prestigious by the early 20th-century American upper class and entertainment industry. I’m sure this is done to show the characters and viewers that they are serious and they mean business. I don’t know about you but his English Voice Actor did a great job and it fits his personality.
If you’ve made it this far into the post, thank you. It means a lot.
Lastly, towards the end of the series, Hisoka went to “cast” his vote for chairman since Netero died in the Ant Arc. One thing I noticed was his golden dangling earrings. He and Illumi are on the roof of the building talking tab out Netero and that is why they’re casting their votes. He asks if Hisoka has seen the news and then answers with no. Illumi then blasts him saying “If you weren’t playing tag with Chrollo, you could have fought Netero.” I will cannot tell a lie, that was funny and more funny when Hisoka let that slip over his head. Hisoka then decides to pay the newscaster (forgot his name) a gruesome visit, but can we talk about his new attire? He still wears the fitted white pants BUT with a playing card patterned belt? Better jewels?
Tumblr media
Better shoes?
Bad bitch mode activated.
Anyway, I am glad you took time to read this post. These are the thoughts that I have gathered about his character and I’m sure I’ll add more as I digest the rest of the show. There are somethings I still don’t understand. If you’d like me to continue these character analysis, be sure to let me know! Keep the asks coming!

The Pro-Israeli and anti-Arab propaganda machine is big in Hollywood, because it's big in America.
Here are two examples:
Tumblr media
Image: poster for 2019 Netflix movie Red Sea Diving Resort, starring Chris Evans and Ben Kingsley
Example one, The Red Sea Diving Resort (2019) directed by Israeli director Gideon Raff.
The Red Sea Diving Resort frames Mossad and the CIA as bleeding hearts liberals (White Savior Cinema at its core), and seems more interested in focusing on 'amusing' spy capers than what happened to the Black Ethiopian Jews they dumped into Israel, an Apartheid state.
Israel took refugees who were largely from rural and farming communities, who couldn't speak or write Hebrew, and dumped them into an industrialised society that was new to them.
Racism and anti-Blackness is still a problem for Ethiopian Jews today.
The State of Israel also preys on these communities by giving them only one option to learn skills: the Israeli Armed Forces.
It is as bad as the American Armed Forces sending their recruitment officers into poor Black communities in America, where young Black people have little other options.
But that's the side of history these White film makers don't want you to know.
Example two, Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) directed by American director Patty Jenkins
Tumblr media
Image: poster for Warner Brothers' 2020 movie Wonder Woman 1984 starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine.
This movie, set in 1984, is simply a hot mess for several reasons.
The overt racism and anti-Arab theme throughout is impossible to ignore. As is the reframing of historical events and making up terms that don't exist: "The Oil Community" is the most ridiculous phrase in recent cinema, reframing The Middle East as peaceful if you're White, and evil if you're Arab or brown skinned.
It's the worst cartoon-like racism onscreen since True Lies (1994). WW84 is bad, bad, bad.
Not to mention Gal Gadot is openly Zionist herself and has never hidden the fact:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One major criticism of Wonder Woman 1984 was the choice for her character Diana to swing in and 'rescue' two little Arab boys playing soccer in the street, which many felt was far too similar to real life events in 2014 where Israeli rockets killed 10 Palestinian children playing soccer (and Gal Gadot shared a tone deaf post on Facebook praising Israel and using such hashtags as "love IDF" and "we are right".)
As you can see from the now deleted Facebook post she shared, Gal Gadot has a bias toward Israel. She co-wrote and starred as the lead in WW84, of course the movie has bias.
Gadot recently made more tone deaf remarks about Palestine which led to the trending hashtag "recast Wonder Woman".
Chris Evans (Red Sea Diving Resort lead actor) has remained quiet on Palestine. Given that Evans has an interest in politics himself (see his website A Starting Point) it seems odd he's remained quiet on the political and humanitarian crisis many other celebrities are now speaking up on.
It does beg the question, is Chris Evans also Zionist? He did star in a Zionist ideal movie after all. 🚩
As America sends the most funds and arms to Israel right now, if you're an American citizen will you please help Palestine by putting pressure on your reps.

so what animes have you seen already?
Oh boy! Not many tbh, I only really started watching it last winter when my roommate asked if I wanted to give it a try! I haven’t watched anything from any studio that did Visions (yet), but I wanna soon!
Animes I HAVE seen, in order:
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood — Aight so when roomie suggested we watch an anime, a friend who had seen a lot of them recommended this one to watch first as it was a good “starter anime”, and y’all idk if it’s just because it’s the first one I watched but I’ve still gotta call it my favorite one because y’all it’s SO FUCKING GOOD. Like that’s understatement of the century but I don’t have time to write an essay on why it’s so good lol just trust me it’s GOOD. 11/10s on EVERYTHING about it. Plot, characters, setting, everything. My one sadness is that I would not be good at writing fic for it lol.
Demon Slayer — YouTube AMVs and seeing it pop up on Netflix had us start this one next and y’all it’s probably the prettiest anime I’ve seen like ever, like the art style is chef’s kiss. Amazing story and AWESOME characters too, very good, 10/10 would recommend. I think I could write a decent fic for it if a plot ever came to me.
The Great Pretender — The only non-action/fight anime on the list, roomie and I tried it out because we figured we should see something different? It was on Netflix so we looked. It was good, clever writing, good characters got a little bit weird in the second season, particularly at the end, but overall it’s a decent watch. I could write fic for the shipping aspect but again, no plot ideas because the plot is fuckin weird.
Akame Ga Kill — Roommate had seen this before, recommended it to me. The characters were decent, setting was interesting! Pretty art style too, but I was like, verrrrry critical of the plot throughout the entire singular season lol, so take that as you will. Actually no yeah plot was kinda wack. My fave character deserved better tho.
Castlevania — Okay okay I know I know not an anime, but it’s a similar artstyle. (Also I think the game it’s based off of is a Japanese game?) Actually watched the first two seasons a while ago, but then watched the third and fourth with roommate. Y’all it’s REALLY good, literally everyone in the damn show is fucking hot and I’m jealous, I ship the throuple HARD hard. I think I could maybe write a decent fic for it if, again, I had any plot motivation lol
Trese — Again, cheating because not anime, but this one is still non-Western (Filipino) media and it’s glorious. I’ve never seen an episode of Supernatural but I feel that this show is like, what Supernatural wishes it could be. Another gorgeous artstyle and I’m so gay for the MC and the first season left me with so many questions so I really hope it gets another one! I gotta get around to reading the webcomic
D.Gray-Man — Okay this one is entirely the fault of @jasontoddiefor who got back into it and promptly dragged everyone he knew down with him, and I am so very glad he did because this is a fantastic— and I’d argue relatively underrated —series. Artstyle is gorgeous (certain characters be very hot), the character arcs are brilliant, I love all the characters, and the worldbuilding is so friggin creative, like I’d put it up there as another one of my faves. I actually did write a fic for this, but publishing a fic in an unfamiliar fandom is terrifying and bad for my anxiety and it’s gonna take me like five more years to work up the courage to do it again lol.
Sword Art Online — Currently watching right now with roommate. I heard some not very good things about it, but my roommate wanted to give it a try so I sat down and watched with them. Sure enough it’s been a case of half the time I’m flailing over the nice animation and how creative the worldbuilding is and the charm and potential all the characters have……………….. and then the other half of the time I’m banging my head against the wall repeatedly because it pulled some seriously stinky bullshit lol. So yeah watch it’s promising but also Suffer in not the good way.
Fire Force — Also currently watching! On my own this time, roommate already watched and recommended. This one is VERY good, like I am super into the plot and the setting and everything to do with the universe. Still getting into the characters and it’s taking a bit more time? So the watch is going slower than usual, but that’s alright! The entire premise makes up for it.
So that’s all the anime I’ve seen! I’ve also seen 2.5 Studio Ghibli movies and they are all JUST as good as people say they are (Kiki’s Delivery Service, Howl’s Moving Castle, and bits and pieces of Princess Mononoke) 1000/10 recommend.
You didn’t ask about the manga I’ve read but I’ll list them anyway! For the record I’m not a huge manga reader because my eyes find it hard to see the illustrations when everything is in different shades of black and white, it makes action scenes in particular really difficult to read, which is a problem when you usually like action plots
Demon Slayer — The anime isn’t complete yet and after the movie I wanted to know MORE so I hunted down the manga and binged it all. Y’ALL GOTTA READ IT IT’S STILL SO FUCKIN GOOD AND I’D DIE FOR SO MANY CHARACTERS I’M IN LOVE WITH SO MANY
D.Gray-Man — Same thing as Demon Slayer, the anime isn’t complete yet and neither is the manga BUT so I read the rest of what’s been written. Hoo hoo HOO I hope they animate more of it because the plots coming up are brilliant and I want it
My Hero Academia — Look, EVERYONE is yelling about this one and it trends like once a week and like five irl friends love it so I figured there was too much anime out but I had to know so I’d just skim the manga just to figure out what the fuck the hype was. It’s good, lol, I totally get the hype now, the strength is in the worldbuilding and a whole handful of extremely interesting yet surprisingly simple character types that work to drive the plot forward. There is so much potential here and I could definitely write fic for this but I am not touching that fandom with a ten foot pole and that’s coming from a Star Wars fan 😂
Yona of the Dawn — Currently reading this!!!! Ok so there’s a season of an anime out for this, I walked in to see my other roommate watching what was probably one of the horniest scenes in it. I was immediately like “👀👀👀👀 shit fuck that’s hot do these heteros have rights????” I was about to plop my ass down and start watching but roommate was like “oh there’s only one season and it’s unfinished and I know you don’t like unfinished stuff” so I promptly got my ass up and googled the manga so I could see more. Y’all it is GOOD, if you love the dramatic romances from Star Wars this is RIGHT up your alley and dare I say better, the plot is lovely, the characters are great, and I am SO MAD there’s only one anime season. I’d absolutely write fic for this if I was more confident, I have so many polyship ideas!!!!!!

This is what Elisha had to say about the backlash for her casting:
"It's really sad to see that fans were upset with the casting. “I wasn't involved in the casting but I hope that what they've seen and how I've portrayed Musa was to their liking. "I've only seen great reviews back from them so they've been open-minded from what I've created, so I hope that it continues to be that way."
What are your thoughts on this? I feel like this kind of comes off as a bit tone-deaf. I’m postive that Elisha (like the other girls) didn’t grown up on winx, and if the casting calls didn’t specify a woman of East Asian decent then I don’t know how much I can fault her. She still could’ve walked away after finding out, all money ain’t good money, but I idk. What do you think?
First off, yes the quote anon sent is real.  Elisha said it in the press junkets this week at Digital Spy, and it was then picked up by Buzzfeed.
I am so fucking tired, is the short answer on my thoughts.  The long answer is this: it’s smart.
It’s a smart move on Elisha’s part, honestly, deflecting all the blame to the creators and arguing she played the role well. She (and Eliot, to an extension) is in a weird position where she’s part of a top-trending Netflix show (that is still in the top 10 slot, because God is dead and I hate it here), but is still a relatively unknown actor.  So she essentially needs to write off her own inability to google a character (because I’m with you anon, she probably didn’t watch the show at any point, but Rainbow themselves put out that they were casting for a live action Winx, so in my opinion that means some basic research on the source material or googling what your character looks like).
And yes, it’s so true that we have Brian, Kate Ringsell (Fate’s casting director), and good ol Iginio to blame - that they’re the ‘experienced adults’ in this situation, and they probably told Elisha this would all be fine and not to worry about it.  And when that didn’t happen, they had to set up softball interviews like this where Elisha gets to talk about how being a good actress makes up for the fact that the show whitewashed her character.  But no matter how much you wanna point fingers, I promise there’s enough of the Blame Pie to go around, and part of gets to go to Elisha because part of this is her fault.
And she’s in a worse situation then Eliot, who (in a stellar move) threw the writers room under the bus in this article by saying ‘Yeah I hope if we’re brought back we get to see Flora, I’d love Flora and Terra to be in a scene together’ and kind of glossed over the fact that she was originally Flora, and she gets a piece of the Blame Pie too.
And then poor fucking Precious Mustapha, who I hope is getting paid well to show up to these interviews and spout Young’s talking points on the show having great representation (though I admit she has talked about representation for black characters specifically, which is a different thing that Fate did well in terms of casting. not storylines, though).  It’s all a mess!
So no, it’s pretty stupid that she said that and I don’t agree with it, but also what the fuck else is she supposed to say? She can’t tell the truth and she can’t apologize (because there’s no way in hell she’s gonna give this role up now).  So that leaves doing this - what will in all likelihood be her only interview on the subject - giving herself a pat on the back (just like everyone else who deserves Blame Pie), getting through the next however many seasons of Fate we’ll get, and moving on.  And let us all hope that’s the end of it.
God this show should’ve taken out back like Old Yeller in like 2012, none of this would be happening now.

Winx Club: mini fashion analysis
When Netflix released the new trailer for the live action series, Winx Club. There was a lot of uproar. The most talked about on being the fashion. If you aren’t aware the show is about, I’ll give you the summary. A girl name Bloom discovers she’s a fairy when she says another fairy name Stella. Bloom and her friends goes through a lot of mission and rivals with the witches and even spark some romances with the boys from red fountain. Like many 2000s shows that catered to young girls like Bratz and totally spies. Fashion has always been a big in the show than you might think. So, when the new trailer came out and many of characters are darks and greys, it came to no surprise that there would be sheer hatred towards it. Netflix and many others have this thing by having the first season take place around Autumn and have the characters wearing dark and neutral to fit the narrative. I’ve already made my own inspired outfits on each of the girls, but I wanted to go into more details as to what each girl would wear based on their personality, interests and even colours themselves.
Bloom- we’ll start off with the main protagonist. In the series, Bloom is an ordinary girl who finds out that she’s a fairy due to her saving another fairy’s life. It’s also revealed that she was adopted and sets out on a quest to not only learn become a fairy but also find her real parents. In show,Bloom is mostly seen wearing a crop top and denim jeans, but she also seen wearing skirts as the show progresses. Because she was raised in the human world, Bloom’s go to style is mostly in casual look. Although many of the girls have their own casual looks despite some of them being princesses. Each of the girl’s fashion and accessories can also be more connected to their powers, meanwhile Bloom who lives on Earth for the majority of her life is more into normal look but as the show progresses she doesn’t add stylish whether it be the help of Stella. Bloom’s colour scheme is Blue. Although the colours Blue represents colour of the ocean and sky. It symbolise introspective journeys and the depth of understanding. Throughout the series, Bloom is learning about life as a fairy due to her living on Earth since she was a baby. While everybody has more experience with the fairy world, Bloom is seen as the odd one out. On, the other hand, Blue can also have an effect on the pituitary gland by affecting someone’s pattern of sleep. This also connects to Bloom during the series especially in Season 1. Bloom is having a hard time falling asleep because of her ambitions to figure who this daphne woman is that’s been haunting her in her sleep and even awake. She is also seen adding some pinks in her outfit. While I see Bloom going off the casual look than her friends do also see her having a feminine look as as well.
Stella- she’s the first fairy that Bloom meets and convinces her to go to Alfea when she believes that Bloom is a fairy like her. Stella has an outgoing personality who loves to shine and have the spotlight on her. Despite all that, Stella does have her own hardship with one of it being her parent’s divorce which took a toll on her. Out of all the girls, Stella appears to be more stylish even when she does wear her everyday outfit. Stella mostly seen wearing skirts, dresses and tube tops throughout the series. So, She should be wearing outfits that are seen as stylish and also fashion accessories that fits her best. I also see Stella wearing different variety of clothing and also being in with the trend that’s is she’s like them, this is due to her obsession with fashion. I don’t know who’s idea was to have Stella be dressed in black but that’s not her colour at all. Stella’s colour schemes is mostly Orange which fits more with the fact that her powers involves around the sun and also the moon. The colour orange is associated with joy and sunshine, which does fit the character of Stella. It is seen as an fun and bright colour. It’s also worth noted that orange trees are a symbol of love which fits Stella perfectly because in the series, one of the things she does is try playing matchmaker for her friends. The word ‘love’ does fit with Stella than you might think despite being selfish at times, she does care for her friends and will do anything for them. She loves her boyfriend even though lied to her about his real name and didn’t care that he wasn’t a prince. She loves her parents that the fact they aren’t together anymore hurts her but knows it’s for the best. Stella’s fashion should contain the colour orange and her go to style is mostly in skirts and dresses.
Musa- she is introduced when her and Techna come to Alfea. Known as the music fairy, Musa loves playing instruments, singing and dancing. Looking into her fashion, she appears to have a tomboyish look where her go to colours are mostly red, black and later on light purple. Since Musa’s style is more like tomyboyish looks than she should be wearing baggy pants and because of her love for music, she should also be sporting headphones around and look like a DJ. Red is known to be an emotional colour and it fits Musa. Despite having a tough look, Musa is the most vulnerable out of the girls. Although she puts on tough act to protect her emotions, she is due to because the death of her mother and that her father lives far away. Musa is of Asian descent and the colour Red is seen as good luck in Asia and its most popular colour in China. My guess is that because she’s far away from her father and the death of mother did take a toll on her, her wearing something red feels like her mother is always with her.
Techna- Techna first appears in Alfea, the same time when Musa comes in. Techna is known as the brains of the group and is the fairy of technology. Her styles appears to give her a preppy look but with more maturity than the rest of her friends and because she’s into technology, I think her style in the live action should have futuristic aesthetic in it. Through her fashion, Techna is seen wearing mostly purple although seen more as a lavender type of colour. The colour lavender seen as more closely link to intuition and mystery. It’s more of a thinker rather than living the moment naturally, preferring to go into daydreaming or deep thinking. In the show, Techna is seen as self-confident and also perfectionist. She uses practical and logical thinking as way to express her emotions and the bases of the majority of desicions. However as the seasons progresses, Techna does become more open and friendly towards her friends. Techna’s emotions appears to play a meaning role in the show with her, It’s possible because of her being the fairy of technology, she appears act more like a robot or an Advanced A.I. at first using her logical thinking and her intelligence to being more kind-hearted, it’s also worth noting that her colour scheme can from lavender to lilac which encourages emotional expression.
Layla/Aisha- Layla or Aisha is the sixth member of the Winx Club. Layla first appears in Season 2, when she was trying to save the pixies by entering the Darkar’s fortress. Layla appears have an adventurous personality and also seems to be athletic. Through her fashion, she mostly wears khaki shorts which is appropriate clothing for hiking and because she’s an athlete, her fashion is more of a tomboy look. Layla’s colour scheme is green. The colour green is mostly associated with nature, this fits Layla due to her having an adventurous personality and how adventure is similar to saying going on a journey thus going outside and being with nature. Green also symbolises envy, while Layla doesn’t show any envious towards the girls. During her early appearance in the show, she feels to be left out in the group meaning that some envy towards the girls’ friendship and wish to have one like theirs. If they made the live-action version correctly, I do see her wearing army green romper since it’s fits her athletic personality.
Flora- We first see Flora in the same episode where Techna and Musa are introduced, however Flora already there when Stella and Bloom arrive at their dorms. Flora is the fairy of nature and is considered to the second most powerful fairy. When looking into Flora’s style, you can see that she prefer feminine clothing with it being skirts, dresses, puffy tops etc. In the live action, not only Flora should’ve been played by a Latina actress, her outfits should’ve been reminiscent like the cottagecore aesthetic. It’s fits Flora very well because the aesthetic has a softer vibe where you’re in a peaceful and just one with nature. Flora’s colour scheme appears to be pink. The colour, Pink symbolises youth, good health and playfulness. It’s also seen as romantic. Flora specialises with making potions out of her plants and also experimenting, she ends up becoming the potion master of the group by brewing and creating medicines, basically Flora is the healer of group which fits in with pink being a symbolism of health. Pink is associated with qualities such as softness, kindness, nurturance and complassion, this definitely fits Flora’s personality very well.
