Hey all! Just wanted to advertise the new Coven Discord!
This discord is specifically for Vampires, Vampire Familiars, Ghosts, Undead, Werewolves (+ other weres), Demons, Angels, and Dragons. These are the specific groups this discord is made for. We feel like these kins are underrepresented and we would just like to make a community for these kins!
I know its a little cringe that I'm advertising a discord server but I would really like to have a nice community for these kins.
In this server we are also a practicing witch/vampire coven and we'd like to include the above listed kins into our group. We host talks, classes, tips, streams, movie nights, vcs, and game nights. We have pluralkit and tupperbox for systems as well. Nontraumagenic systems are not welcome (sorry). This is a safe space please no drama.
I would really appreciate it if you join! There is a verification process so please don't just join and do nothing T-T. Can't wait to see you all there!
Do Vani have the capability to turn humans into monsters? Kinda like what happened to Null in "Arbitrary Sermon", or was that just coincidence?
Madeline's transformation into a monster is completely isolated from the Vani events, and is something currently known as Lycanthropy. She turned into a Were. It is happening all over the world and affecting humans one by one, but no one knows what is causing it.
Vani cannot turn people into monsters in the same way. They'd have to enthrall them to transform them into anything different, but it wouldn't be a back-and-forth transformation thing like with Lycanthropy. It would be more like a zombification process, whether they leave them dead or alive. Either way, Vani can only create mob thralls, and ONLY with the help of an Amplifier.
Weres are not only fully autonomous still but are even stronger than their human forms. They are definitely not thralls. Vani wouldn't want to make something that can rival them, would they?
Thinking abt general rules for when first seeing a werewolf in wolf form. Just general precautions. Like dont scream or "squee" in a high pitched voice no matter how cute you find the werewolf, and dont rush towards them all at once. Sudden high pitched noises will register as a prey sound and a werewolf with less self control/awareness might lose control. They might also on instinct bat you away with a paw, which may be lethal depending on how much self control the werewolf has. Werewolves vary wildly on how "tame" they are, and even a werewolf who is friendly and able to retain mindfulness 99% of the time may have a slip up that results in injury. Its safest to let the werewolf you do know set the pace of things, including every time you see them in this form, as each time is different! There should always be a third party able to subdue the werewolf to monitor things incase it goes badly. One common tell for friends and foes of werewolves is the pupil size- if you're used to your furry friend having a certain diameter to its irises, pay close attention to when they suddenly change! Never interrupt a werewolf while its eating- the same way you'd never stick your hand in a dogs bowl while its doing the same. If you feel the need, carry extremely strong scent oils such as citruses or spices in a vial to break out if you need a sudden escape. A werewolf has a much better sense of smell than a human, and shoving lavender extract up its nose will blind it for a short while while you make your escape.
i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.
my prof just explained on the syllabus that he’s included more points in the class than we needed to pass, so we could skip up like?? 20 small assignments/quizzes/participation!! and still get a very high grade!!
the idea was that we could focus on assignments that played to our strengths - only do the participation stuff if we like to talk out loud - only do the quizzes/readings if we want to do the class remotely - only do online discussions if we like to talk and share opinions but struggle with anxiety in class ect.
and that’s cool enough but then he pulled up DnD character sheets with drawings he’d done of these hypothetical student player classes and how our various accessibility needs could be gamified to ‘max out’ different aspects of the class to get high grades and like!!!!!
hell yeah!!!! let’s treat accessibility in higher education not just as a necessity but as the fun, engaging, and creative aspect of learning that it is!!! I love this!!
EDIT: For proper credit or further questions about his system please find my professor on twitter @/kurtishanlon
I think the only person I've met in real life with 100% career satisfaction was this gal I knew who was a presenter at a children's science museum and delivered every line like she was running a WWE match. Every time you passed the room where she was giving a presentation, you'd hear something like "WHO'S READY FOR CEPHALOPODS?!?" and the kids would go absolutely nuts cheering.
